A kid rides a bicycle on a sunny day. Poc flies over a street. He is a little green bird.

A song plays SAY HEY, SAY HI
SAY HOW DO YOU DO
TO A FINE YOUNG ZEBRA
BY THE NAME OF ZOU
OHHHH, OHHHH
OH, OH, OHH

Zou opens a garden door and Poc comes in flying. Zou is a 5-year-old zebra boy wearing yellow dungarees.

Zou happily climbs the stairs into his house.

The song continues MEET MUM AND DAD,
NANA, TOO
GRANDMA, GRANDPA,
ALL OF YOU
OHHHH, OHHHH
OH, OH, OHHH
I'VE GOT A FRIEND IN YOU
I'VE GOT A FRIEND IN ZOU
I'VE GOT A FRIEND IN YOU
I'VE GOT A FRIEND IN ZOU

Zou hugs his parents and his grandma and eats a cookie his grandpa offers him. He walks to the garden where his friends play volleyball and joins them. Then, his family comes out and they all stand together.

The name of the show appears on a white background. It reads "Zou."

Today’s episode is "Zou’s teething ring."

Zou plays in his room with some trains.

He sits on his green carpet and moves them as he says CHOO CHOO, CHOO CHOO!
CHUGGA CHUGGA CHUGGA CHUGGA
CHOO CHOO, CHOO CHOO,
CHOO CHOO!

He crawls moving the red, green and yellow engine around the carpet as he says THE TRAIN IS RACING DOWN THE
TRACK.
CHOO CHOO!

He lets the engine roll and it hits mum’s foot.

He says OH!

Mum says BIZOU?

Zou says HI, MUM.

Mum says I HOPE YOU CAN CLEAN UP
IN HERE BEFORE YOUR AUNT AND
COUSIN ARRIVE.

Zou says I WILL.
I'M JUST BEING A TRAIN DRIVER.
CHOO CHOO, CHOO CHOO!

Mum says SO MANY THINGS AND SO
LITTLE SPACE TO PUT THEM.

She looks around the room and sees toys, a colored ball, a dinosaur, a robot, a penguin and an open green chest.

Zou says CHOO CHOO.

Mum looks around and says ZOU, PERHAPS YOU SHOULD
LOOK THROUGH ALL OF YOUR TOYS
AND CLEAR OUT THE ONES YOU'RE
TOO OLD FOR.

Zou says CLEAR OUT?!
BUT THEY'RE MY THINGS.

Mum says WE ALL GROW UP AND GROW
OUT OF THINGS, ZOU.
MAYBE YOU CAN FIND SOMETHING TO
PASS ON TO SOMEONE YOUNGER,
OKAY?

Zou frowns and says OKAY.

Mum moves her hands to one side and says PUT THE TOYS YOU WANT
TO KEEP ON ONE SIDE, AND PUT
THE ONES TO GIVE AWAY IN THAT
BOX.

She points to the green chest.

Zou puts the balls, a teddy bear, the dinosaur, the trains, a scooter and all the other toys to the right of the room.

he looks at the empty chest and says HMM...
THERE MUST BE SOMETHING I CAN
PUT IN THE BOX.

Poc tweets.

Poc flaps his wings and jumps up and down on the chest, then he flies over to a drawer under Zou’s bed and looks inside.

Zou picks out a box from inside and says HMM...

He picks out an orange rattle with a penguin on the top and says OH, IT'S NOT REAL, POC.
IT LOOKS LIKE A BABY TOY.
THAT'S SO EMBARRASSING.
THAT CAN GO.

The teething ring rattles as he throws it into the box.

He picks up the chest and says MUM WILL BE HAPPY I FOUND
SOMETHING TO GIVE AWAY.

He runs into the kitchen carrying the box and sees mum dusting the shelves.

He says MUM, I WENT THROUGH EVERYTHING.
LOOK, I FOUND THIS.

Mum looks in the chest; she gasps and says OH, BIZOU, THIS IS YOUR
TEETHING RING FROM WHEN
YOU WERE A BABY.

Zou says IT WAS MINE?
YOU MEAN IT?

Mum smiles and says YES.
YOU USED TO CALL IT PENG PENG
BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T SAY
PENGUIN.

She hugs it and says OH, YOU WERE SO CUTE.

Zou says MUM!

Mum says OH, WE CAN'T GET RID OF
THIS.

Zou says WHY NOT?

Mum says I'D LIKE TO KEEP IT.

Zou frowns and says MMM.

He looks at the clock ticking on the wall and asks
WHEN ARE AUNT ZELDA AND ZINNIA
COMING?

Mum says OH, THEY'LL BE HERE
SOON.
I MUST GET THINGS READY.

Zou takes the teething ring mum left on the mantelpiece and says I CAN'T LET ZINNIA SEE
MY OLD BABY TOY, CAN I, POC?
SHE'LL TEASE ME.
WE'LL HAVE TO HIDE IT.

He runs out and gasps as he sees mum washing dishes.

He says OH!

Then he runs out to the garden with Poc. He sees a small gardening spade in the grass and chuckles.

He makes a hole in the ground and says WE'RE LIKE PIRATES BURYING
TREASURE, POC.
NO ONE WILL LOOK FOR IT OUT
HERE.

Grandpa walks up behind him carrying a purple flower and says AH, ZOU!
LOOK WHAT I FOUND AT THE GARDEN
CENTRE.
IT WOULD LOOK LOVELY IN BETWEEN

Zou holds the ring behind his back as grandpa sees the hole he dug and says OH, THAT'S WHERE I WAS GOING
TO PLANT IT.
THANK YOU.
HOW DID YOU KNOW?

Zou chuckles and says HEH, HEH, HEH, IT LOOKED
LIKE A GOOD PLACE TO PLANT
SOMETHING.

Grandpa says HMM?

Zou runs past grandpa and into the kitchen, he opens the cleaning cabinet and shakes his head.

He says NO, MUM IS ALWAYS
OPENING THIS CUPBOARD.
IT WOULD BE WAY TOO EASY TO
FIND IN HERE.
WHERE ELSE?

Poc tweets and hops on the red trash can.

Zou opens the lid and is about to throw the ring as mum walks in with some trash.

Mum says OH, THANK YOU, ZOU.
HMM?

Zou runs to the sitting room and looks at the bookshelves.

He says MAYBE SOMEWHERE HIGHER
UP.

He strains to get to the tallest one and says UH, UGH, UHH!

Dad walks in on him and says ZOU?

Zou turns quickly and says DAD.

Dad says IS THAT A BABY TOY
IN YOUR HAND?

Zou says NO.

The doorbell rings.

He says ZINNIA!

Zinnia stands at the door wearing a pink tutu and a headband.

She says POINT AND FLEX AND
POINT AND POSE.

Mum opens the door and says OH, HELLO, ZINNIA.

Zinnia saunters in and says POINT AND FLEX AND
POINT AND POSE.

Mum and aunt giggle as they watch her.

Zinnia dances into the sitting room and Dad says HUH?

Zinnia chuckles and says HELLO, ZOU.

Zou says HELLO, ZINNIA.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Zinnia says I HAVE GOT THE
STARRING ROLE IN MY SCHOOL
BALLET.

She twirls on her feet and says SO I AM PRACTISING AS MUCH
AS I CAN.

Zelda says WE'RE SO PROUD.
IT'S SUCH A GROWN-UP
RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER.

Zinnia says IT'S VERY GROWN UP.
HMM?

Zou holds his baby toy behind his back and it makes a noise.

Poc chirps.

Zinnia frowns and says OH.

Mum says COME WITH ME, ZELDA.
ZOU, WILL YOU LOOK AFTER ZINNIA
FOR ME?

Zou says YES, MUM.

The grownups leave.

Zinnia says I DON'T REALLY NEED
LOOKING AFTER, NOW THAT I'M
VERY GROWN UP.
WHAT ARE YOU HIDING BEHIND
YOUR BACK, ZOU?

She tries to see what he hides.

Zou moves from side to side and says NOTHING.

Zinnia says IS IT A GUESSING
GAME?

Zou puts the toy in front of him and shakes his head as he says NO, IT'S NOT A GAME.
I KNOW.
LET'S PLAY HIDE AND GO SEEK.
YOU CAN COUNT.

Zinnia jumps up and says OH, YES.
MY FAVOURITE!

She stands at a corner and counts ONE...

Zou runs upstairs and says THERE MUST BE SOMEWHERE
I CAN HIDE THIS TEETHING RING
BEFORE ZINNIA FINDS US.

He runs into grandma’s sitting room.

Grandma says OHH!

Zou says SORRY, GRANDMA, HIDE
AND GO SEEK.
IF ZINNIA ASKS, YOU HAVEN'T
SEEN ME.

Grandma says ALL RIGHT, ZOU.
IF SHE ASKS, I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU.

Zou walks out hiding the toy behind his back and says THANKS, GRANDMA.

He goes into grandma and granddad’s room. The bed has a pink quilt on it and matching cushions.

He looks at the night table and says THIS IS THE PERFECT PLACE TO
HIDE IT.

He crawls under the bed and is about to leave the toy when he sees a small blue box.

He crawls out and says OH, HMM?

He picks out a photo from the box; it shows dad as a small boy hugging grandma.

He says OH, LOOK, POC.
THAT'S GRANDMA AND DAD.
DAD MUST HAVE HIDDEN THESE IN
HERE.
I NEED TO HIDE THIS SOMEWHERE
ELSE.
HUH?

He runs out and
Grandma says DIDN'T YOU FIND
SOMEWHERE TO HIDE, ZOU?

Zou says NO, IT'S OKAY.
I'LL FIND SOMEWHERE DIFFERENT.

Zinnia finishes counting downstairs.

She turns and says 99, 100.
READY OR NOT, HERE I COME.

Zinnia searches around the living room, behind furniture, under the sofa, etcetera.

Zou walks into nana’s room and says NANA?

He sees the piano, a bed, a desk and a rocking chair.

He opens a drawer in the desk and gasps as he sees a picture of grandpa as a little boy sitting at nana’s feet. He wears a knitted hat.

Zou says OH!
THAT'S NANA AND GRANDPA.

He picks up a small knitted blue hat with a white pompom and says NO WONDER GRANDPA WANTED TO
HIDE THIS.
IT'S REALLY BABYISH AND
EMBARRASSING.
I CAN'T HIDE MY TEETHING RING
IN HERE.

Zinnia giggles downstairs and says ZOU!

Zou runs through the hallway upstairs.

Zinnia says I KNOW WHERE YOU'RE HIDING,
ZOU.

She laughs and keeps looking.

She hears Grandma laughing through the shut door. Grandma looks at the picture of herself and dad as a baby.

Zinnia runs in and says AH-HA!
FOUND YOU.

Grandma says OH.

Zinnia frowns and says OH.

Zou opens drawers downstairs looking for a place to hide the rattle.

Zou looks under a chair and says THESE ARE ALL TOO EASY.
I NEED TO FIND A PLACE WHERE
NO ONE ELSE WILL LOOK.
I KNOW!
IF GRANDPA HID HIS BABY HAT IN
NANA'S ROOM, AND DAD HID HIS
TEDDY BEAR IN GRANDMA'S ROOM,

He walks into mum and dad’s room and says THE BEST PLACE FOR ME TO HIDE
THIS IS IN HERE, MUM AND DAD'S
ROOM.

The room has green curtains, carpets and bedcovers.

He says OH, BUT WHERE?
HMM...

Poc flies under the night table and Zou looks at it and says PERFECT, POC.

Zinnia runs in and says FOUND YOU AT LAST.

He is startled by her and turns with the rattle in his hand.
He tries to hold it steady but it rattles and falls to the ground.

Zou says HUH?
OH!

Zinnia picks it up and says ZOU, WHY ARE YOU
CARRYING AROUND A BABY TOY?
YOU'RE NOT A BABY ANYMORE,
ARE YOU?

Zou says OF COURSE NOT.

Zinnia says JUST WAIT 'TIL I
SHOW EVERYONE.

Zou says NO, ZINNIA, WAIT!

Mum walks in and takes the ring from Zinnia.

She says OH, THERE IT IS.
I WONDER WHERE THAT HAD GONE.
COME ON, YOU TWO, WE'RE ALL IN
THE LIVING ROOM.

The kids raise their eyes.

In the living room the adults sit around the table and laugh as they look at their own old treasures.

Grandpa holds the blue knitted hat and says OH, IT'S BEEN MANY,
MANY YEARS SINCE I COULD FIT
INTO THIS.

Dad holds the small brown teddy and says I LOVED THIS TEDDY BEAR.
I REMEMBER I USED TO TAKE IT
WITH ME EVERYWHERE.

Grandma looks at the photo of herself and dad and says OH, I HAVEN'T
LOOKED AT THESE IN AGES.
I'D ALMOST FORGOTTEN WHERE I'D
PUT THEM.

Zou says YOU PUT THEM THERE?
I THOUGHT DAD AND GRANDPA HID
THEM.

Grandpa says WHY WOULD WE DO
THAT, ZOU?

Zou says BECAUSE THEY'RE BABY
THINGS.
AND YOU'RE GROWN UP.

Dad chuckles and says SO?

Zou says DON'T YOU THINK IT'S
EMBARRASSING?

Grandma says THEY'RE NOT
EMBARRASSING, ZOU.
NANA AND I KEEP THESE THINGS
BECAUSE THEY REMIND US HOW MUCH
OUR BOYS HAVE GROWN UP.

Nana says AND OF HOW PROUD WE ARE
OF THEM.

Zinnia says YUCK.

Zelda pulls out a photo of Zinnia as a baby and says WE ALL DO IT.
SEE HOW LITTLE ZINNIA WAS SUCH
A SWEET BABY?
SHE HASN'T CHANGED ONE LITTLE
BIT.

Zinnia frowns and says MUMMY!

They all laugh.

Poc chirps and falls to his back laughing too.

Zou puts the ring on the mantelpiece and says MUM, IF YOU WANT TO
KEEP THIS HERE, THAT'S ALL
RIGHT WITH ME.

Mum says I WASN'T GOING TO LEAVE
IT ON DISPLAY, ZOU.

She pops it into a brown box and says I KEEP ALL MY LITTLE ZOU
MEMORIES IN HERE says PICTURES,
OLD TOYS, EVERYTHING THAT
REMINDS ME OF YOU.
THIS IS A VERY CUTE PHOTOGRAPH.

She points to a baby shot of Zou.

She continues AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT, BIZOU?

Zou says WHAT?

Mum says IT PROVES JUST HOW
GROWN UP YOU'VE BECOME.

She kisses him on the head.

The end credits roll as Zou plays with his friends and spends time with his family.
