Transcript: Why do I Have To Wear Glasses?
(music plays)
Aldo stands behind a table. Behind him, hand-written pieces of paper hang on a black board. He is in her mid-thirties, with a short goatee and blond hair. He wears glasses and a blue T-shirt with a print that reads "Home Work Zone."
He says HI, I'M TEACHER ALDO
AND WELCOME
TO THE
HOMEWORK ZONE.
TODAY, WE'RE GOING
TO TALK ABOUT
HOW THE
HUMAN EYE WORKS.
WHAT I HAVE HERE
IS AN EXAMPLE
OF A
HUMAN EYE BALL.
IT'S A TENNIS BALL
AND ALL EYES
ARE SHAPED
LIKE A SPHERE -
THE TENNIS BALL
IN MY HAND.
He shows a magnifying glass and continues ALL EYES
ALSO HAVE WHAT IS
CALLED A LENS IN
FRONT OF IT.
SO WHEN I USE
MY EYES TO LOOK AT
SOMETHING, THE IMAGE
THAT I'M
LOOKING AT GOES
THROUGH THE LENS
AND REFLECTS ON
THE BACK OF
THE TENNIS BALL,
AND THAT THEN GOES
THROUGH THE
OPTIC NERVE,
AND THEN I GET
TO SEE THE OBJECT
THAT I'M LOOKING
AT.
SOME PEOPLE
LIKE MYSELF THOUGH,
WE WEAR
GLASSES,
NOW THE
QUESTION IS WHY DOES
TEACHER ALDO WEAR
GLASSES?
WELL IT'S
BECAUSE TEACHER ALDO'S
EYEBALL IS NOT A
PERFECT SPHERE.
IF WE
TAKE THIS SPHERE,
THIS TENNIS BALL
AND WE GIVE IT
A
LITTLE SQUEEZE,
YOU SEE THE
BACK,
IT KIND
OF BULGES OUT.
THAT'S REALLY
THE SHAPE
OF MY
EYEBALL,
AND THAT'S WHY
I HAVE TO
WEAR
GLASSES.
SEE, I NEED
GLASSES -
THE LENSES
OF THE GLASSES TO
HELP REFOCUS THE
IMAGES THAT
I'M
LOOKING AT,
SO THE LENSES OF
MY GLASSES ACT
WITH THE
LENS OF MY HUMAN
EYEBALL,
A close-up shot shows one of his eyes.
He concludes SO THAT IT MAKES
WHATEVER I'M
LOOKING AT LESS
BLURRY AND A LOT
MORE SHARPER,
AND THEN
THAT HELPS
ME SEE BETTER.
I'M TEACHER ALDO,
AND REMEMBER
TO WEAR
YOUR GLASSES.
