Transcript: A Case of the Blues
(music plays)
The show opens with a green apple holding up the word "It." The apple stands in front of a green billboard that reads "Matters." An orange and banana walk up to the apple. The apple jumps on top of the orange and places the word "It" next to "Matters."
Maya, the plum, sits on a couch, typing on a laptop. A caption reads "My name is Maya. This is my story..."
Maya plays in a playground with other fruits, wearing a blue hat, and says FRIDAY WAS A SPECIAL
DAY AT SCHOOL
AND WE WERE ALLOWED
TO WEAR HATS.
A pineapple appears next to her and says NICE HAT.
WHAT ARE YOU,
A BOY?
LOOK AT MAYA!
GIRLS CAN'T
WEAR BLUE.
Maya says HAT DAY WAS SUPPOSED
TO BE FUN.
Later, in the classroom, the pineapple says BOY, BOY
MAYA'S A BOY
Maya says I DIDN'T WANT TO BE
BULLIED ANYMORE,
SO I STOPPED
WEARING MY HAT.
Now, at the bus stop, the pineapple says LOOKS LIKE MAYA'S
A GIRL AGAIN.
Maya puts her hat on and narrates COULDN'T TAKE
IT ANYMORE.
I TOLD THAT BULLY I
LOVED THE COLOUR BLUE,
AND IT WAS MY
FAVOURITE.
JUST BECAUSE I WEAR IT,
DOESN'T MEAN I'M A BOY.
The pineapple says OKAY, I
GET IT.
Back on the couch, Maya types on her laptop, and says I'M GLAD I STOOD
UP FOR MYSELF.
A caption reads "Now I wear blue a lot and that bully doesn?t make fun of me. Everyone should be allowed to wear their favourite colour."
She says THAT'S MY STORY
AND IT MATTERS.
