Transcript: Pyramids
Hamza appears on screen in his studio shaking a model pyramid. Hamza is in his twenties, has short, dark, curly hair, is clean-shaven, and wears a blue shirt with a bow tie, and khaki pants.
Hamza says WHAT'S SO SPECIAL
ABOUT PYRAMIDS? TO FIND OUT,
WE'RE GONNA ARM WRESTLE
A PYRAMID...
An animation appears on screen with a pyramid arm wrestling with an alligator.
The alligator falls and says WAH!
(GROWLING)
Hamza walks on screen dressed like an Egyptian pharaoh with a black and gold headdress and a white robe.
Hamza continues ...MEET A MUMMY WHO THINKS
HE'S A ROCK STAR...
Hamza says HEY, BABY, HOW YOU DOING?
Now kids appear on screen building pyramids on the soccer field.
The yellow team says LET'S GO! LET'S GO!
FASTER! FASTER!
Hamza says ...WE'RE GONNA BUILD
OUR OWN PYRAMIDS.
The yellow team says GUYS, THEY'RE WINNING!
Now a group of cheerleaders appears on screen forming a human pyramid.
Hamza says ...AND PUT A CHEERLEADING
STUNT TO THE TEST.
The yellow and blue teams make a human pyramid.
They all say YAY!
Hamza says TODAY ON
LOOK...
(ROCK MUSIC)
KOOL!
(THEME MUSIC)
The opening sequence appears on screen.
Hamza spins in a circle while standing in front of a cityscape in the background and puts on black sunglasses. He turns around and looks at the city behind him that transforms into colourful 3-D geometric shapes that fall onto the green grass and start to grow back into a new animated city. All the shapes unfold and the colourful geometric-shaped title rises and unfolds into the sky.
The title reads "Look Kool."
The opening sequence ends.
In the studio, Hamza stacks a pyramid of oranges.
Hamza says AH... I WAS AT THE GROCERY
STORE TODAY AND I SAW A HUGE
PYRAMID OF ORANGES STACKED TALL.
SO, I THOUGHT I WOULD MAKE MY
OWN PYRAMID. IT'S A PRETTY COOL
SHAPE THAT LETS YOU STACK THINGS
ON TOP OF EACH OTHER WITHOUT
THEIR FALLING OVER. BUT I ALWAYS
WONDERED WHY THE FRUITS AT THE
BOTTOM NEVER GOT SQUISHED. HUH!
AND WHAT ABOUT CHEERLEADERS?
A clip of cheerleaders forming a human pyramid appears on screen.
Hamza says WHEN CHEERLEADERS MAKE
A PYRAMID, THE ONES ON THE
BOTTOM ARE HOLDING UP THE TWO R
THREE OTHER PEOPLE. AND THE
PYRAMIDS IN EGYPT HAVE BEEN
AROUND FOR MORE THAN 4000 YEAR.
SO, SOMETHING ABOUT THE PYRAMID
SHAPE MUST MAKE IT SUPER STRONG.
An animation of an orange pyramid in the desert lifting an alligator appears on screen.
The pyramid says AAAH!
The alligator says AH, SHOW-OFF.
Back in the studio, Hamza says WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THIS
MAGICAL PYRAMID POWER?
PYRAMIDS ARE REALLY HARD
TO KNOCK OVER.
(THUDDING)
Kool Kat knocks over the pyramid of oranges. Kool Kat is a blue, toaster-like cat with red roller wheels as paws.
Kool Kat says MEOW!!
Hamza says UNLESS YOU'VE GOT A NAUGHTY
PET CAT.
Kool Kat says MEOW!!
Hamza says AS I WAS SAYING; WHAT IS IT
ABOUT PYRAMIDS THAT MAKES THEM
SUPER STRONG?
Now a slate of Kool Kat sitting on animated grass appears on screen with a title that reads "Deconstruct." Kool Kat breaks apart into several tiny shapes and comes back together.
Back in the studio, Hamza holds up his hands in front of the pyramid and says DECONSTRUCT!
WHOA!
The pyramid transforms into a floating hologram and Hamza says ARE YOU SEEING WHAT I'M SEEING?
IN 2-D.
IN 3-D. HUH!
ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR.
A PYRAMID SURE HAS A LOT OF
TRIANGLES. COULD TRIANGLES HAVE
SOMETHING TO DO WITH WHAT MAKES
PYRAMIDS SO STRONG?
WE BETTER GET THE INVESTIGATORS
ON THE CASE.
Now Kool Kat appears on screen and looks through a magnifying glass at a title that reads "Investigation."
Hamza runs over to his projection screen in the studio and says HEY, INTREPID INVESTIGATORS.
Stefano and Han Ru appear on screen sitting on a couch in a living room. Han Ru has shoulder-length, middle-parted, wavy black hair and Stefano has short, dark brown, feathery hair. They both wear white T-shirts with an eye in the middle with four arrows that point around it.
Han Ru says HI.
Stefano says HI, HAMZA!
Hamza says GUESS WHAT? I TOOK
A PYRAMID APART.
Han Ru says WHAT?!
Stefano says A REAL ONE?
Hamza says OK, OK, NOT A REAL ONE.
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I NOTICED?
THE SIDES OF PYRAMIDS ARE
ALL TRIANGLES.
I WONDER IF THAT'S WHAT MAKES
PYRAMIDS STRONG. TO HELP SOLVE
THIS PYRAMID MYSTERY, CAN YOU
FIND SOME TRIANGLES THAT HOLD
THINGS UP OR KEEP THEM FROM
FALLING APART?
Han Ru and Stefano say WE'RE ON IT.
They begin to look throughout the house.
Han Ru says OK. LET'S SEARCH...
Hamza says WHILE THEY'RE FINDING
TRIANGLES, LET'S BUILD
A PYRAMID!
Kool Kat and gold Kat appears roll up on their red wheels on a road and hit the finish line that reads "Challenge."
(KIDS CHEERING)
Now Hamza appears on a soccer field with blue and yellow pieces of cardboard lying on the ground. He stands in the middle between the blue and yellow team.
Hamza says HI, EVERYONE!
They all say HI, HAMZA!
Hamza says THANK YOU FOR JOINING ME IN MY
FOREST OF TRIANGLES. TO MY LEFT,
I HAVE MATTHEW, JOSHUA, AND
VERONICA; TEAM YELLOW.
(KIDS CHEERING)
AND JOEY, MIA, AND DANIELLE;
TEAM BLUE!
Team blue says YAY!
Hamza says TODAY, YOU ARE GOING TO BE
SUPERSTAR PYRAMID ARCHITECTS!
PYRAMIDS CAN HAVE DIFFERENT-
SHAPED BASES. THAT'S THE BOTTOM
OF THE PYRAMID. SO TODAY, I
TOOK
APART PYRAMIDS WITH BASES THAT
ARE TRIANGULAR, SQUARE, AND
PENTAGONAL, AND I MIXED UP THE
DIFFERENT TRIANGLES THAT MAKE P
THEIR SIDES. YOU HAVE TO PUT
THEM BACK TOGETHER.
THE FIRST TEAM TO BUILD ALL
3 PYRAMIDS WINS THIS CHALLENGE.
HERE ARE YOUR
PYRAMID-BUILDING KITS!
The yellow team says UH-OH... THANK YOU.
The blue team says THANK YOU.
Hamza says TRUST ME, THEY'LL HELP.
ON YOUR MARK.
GET READY.
GET SET.
PYRAMID CHALLENGE GO!
The teams collect their pieces and start putting the cardboard pyramids together.
Matthew says RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!
Joshua says GO, GO, GO, GO! PUT IT HERE!
Hamza says YELLOW TEAM'S
STARTING WITH THE PYRAMID THAT
HAS A TRIANGULAR BASE.
Veronica says OK, DO WE GRAB THAT TRIANGLE?
Hamza says BLUE TEAM'S STARTING
WITH A SQUARE BASE.
Mia says SO LET'S LIFT THIS ONE.
Danielle says SEE, IF IT FITS THIS.
Veronica says THIS ONE WOULD PROBABLY GO
ON THE SIDE.
Joey says I THINK THIS ONE
SHOULD GO HERE.
Danielle says UM, YEAH. WAIT.
Mia says THIS ONE FITS FINE.
Hamza says IT'S REALLY HARD TO
TELL WHICH SIDES FIT WHICH KIND
OF PYRAMID.
Joshua says NO, IT DOESN'T FIT.
Matthew says DOES NOT FIT?
Joshua says TRY THAT ONE.
Matthew says NO, IT'S TOO BIG.
Joey says HERE, I FOUND ANOTHER ONE.
Mia says YOU DID?
Hamza says WE'VE ALREADY GOT A SEMI-
STANDING STRUCTURE OVER HERE
WITH TEAM BLUE. EXCELLENT!
Danielle says YEAH, THAT'S GOOD. PERFECT!
Hamza says TWO SIDES UP AT ONCE.
REALLY GREAT.
Mia says HEY, HOLD ON, I'M GONNA SCOTCH
TAPE IT TOGETHER.
Matthew says THAT ONE IS GOOD!
Hamza says NOW THAT THEY FOUND
THEIR FIRST TRIANGLES, THEY
NEED
TO MAKE THEIR PYRAMIDS HOLD UP.
Mia says KEEP IT.
Joey says I CAN'T!
Mia says I ALMOST GOT IT.
Veronica says YEAH, IT'S PERFECT!
Hamza says TAKE A LOOK AT TEAM YELLOW
OVER HERE. ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC.
WORKING TOGETHER. THEY ALREADY
HAVE A STANDING STRUCTURE
THAT'S STANDING BY ITSELF.
NO ONE'S EVEN HOLDING ONTO IT.
YELLOW ONLY NEEDS ONE MORE SIDE
TO FINISH THEIR FIRST PYRAMID.
Danielle says PUSH IT A BIT FORWARD - THE
TWO PIECES THAT ARE TOGETHER.
Mia says YEAH, I PUT IT BACK.
Hamza says JOEY'S STUCK INSIDE HIS
PYRAMID. GOOD.
Mia says DON'T WORRY, WE'RE NOT GONNA
CLOSE YOU IN THERE, OK?
Hamza says MIA WITH ASSURING WORDS TO
JOEY THAT THEY WILL NOT BE,
IN FACT, CLOSING HIM IN THERE,
WHICH IS TERRIFIC 'CAUSE WE WANT
JOEY OUT HERE HELPING OUT THE
REST OF THE TEAM.
Matthew says DID WE TRY THIS ONE?
Joshua says TRY IT! TRY IT!
Matthew says GET INTO SLOT.
THERE! YEAH, WE GOT IT, GUYS!
Hamza says YELLOW FINDS THEIR
LAST PIECE. OH! AND SO DOES
BLUE. THEY JUST NEED TO MAKE
THEIR PYRAMIDS SOLID NOW.
Matthew says FINISHED! I'M FINISHED, HAMZA!
Hamza says IT LOOKS LIKE TEAM YELLOW'S
FINISHED THEIR FIRST PYRAMID.
LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK WITH
MY MIND'S EYEGLASSES.
Hamza puts his mind?s eyeglasses on.
The computer says ACTIVATION.
ALL PYRAMIDS HAVE THE FOLLOWING
CHARACTERISTICS. FIRST, THERE
ARE THE EDGES. NEXT, THERE ARE
VERTICES OR CORNERS. THE TOP
VERTEX IS CALLED THE APEX.
THE BOTTOM PART OF THE PYRAMID
IS CALLED THE BASE. AND THE
TRIANGULAR PIECES AS WELL AS
THE
BASE ARE CALLED FACES OF
THE PYRAMID.
Hamza says WELL, LOOKS LIKE YOU GUYS ARE
OFF TO A GREAT START!
Team yellow says THANKS.
Hamza says ALRIGHT, WELL, MAKE IT QUICK
BECAUSE I THINK TEAM BLUE IS
CATCHING UP. YOU GOT TWO MORE
PYRAMIDS TO GO. AND WE'LL BE
BACK TO SEE WHO FINISHES THEIR
PYRAMIDS FIRST.
The yellow team says YES!
The animation with the pyramid and the alligator appear on screen.
The alligator says PYRAMID, PYRAMID,
LET ME IN OR I'LL HUFF
AND I'LL PUFF
AND I'LL BLOW!
The alligator blows all his air out and the pyramid doesn?t move.
The alligator says OK, YOU WIN THIS ROUND.
Back in the studio, Hamza says I WONDER HOW THE INVESTIGATORS
ARE DOING ON THEIR SEARCH
FOR TRIANGLES.
On the projection screen, Stefano and Han Ru continue to search around the house.
Stefano says SO...
Han Ru says TRIANGLES THAT HOLD
ITEMS UP. NO, NO...
Stefano says OH, I THINK I FOUND ONE.
Han Ru says YUP. ONE, TWO, THREE.
Stefano takes a picture of a metal compass on the ground and says LET'S TAKE A PICTURE OF IT.
AND PICTURE.
(BEEPING)
The computer says STRONG
TRIANGLE IDENTIFIED.
Now, Stefano says AS WE CAN SEE, THIS TOP PIECE
HERE IS BEING HELD UP BY THIS.
The both say A TRIANGLE.
(BEEPING)
Stefano poses by a triangular bookshelf.
Now Stefano points at a pyramid figurine and says HEY, WHAT ABOUT THAT?
Han Ru says OH YEAH!
(BEEPING)
Hamza says LET'S SEE WHAT OUR MIND'S EYE
COMPUTER HAS TO SAY ABOUT
THIS OBJECT.
The computer says MAYAN AND EGYPTIAN
PYRAMIDS BOTH HAVE SQUARE
BOTTOMS AND FOUR SIDES. ONE OF
THE MOST AMAZING MAYAN TEMPLES
IS CHICHEN ITZA IN MEXICO.
IT WAS USED AS A CALENDAR.
EACH FACE OF THE PYRAMID HAS
91 STEPS WHICH, WHEN ADDED UP
WITH THE SHARED STEP AT THE TO,
TOTALS 365. THAT'S THE NUMBER F
DAYS IN A YEAR. THE MAYANS
REALLY KNEW THEIR MATH.
Han Ru says OH!
Stefano says THE BASE OF THE STOOL.
Han Ru says YOU FOUND ONE.
(BEEPING)
Stefano says WOULD THIS COUNT? IT DOESN'T
REALLY HOLD ANYTHING, BUT...
Han Ru says ACTUALLY, YEAH, IT DOES.
THERE'S THIS ON TOP OF IT.
Stefano says YEAH, IT DOES HOLD THAT.
(BEEPING)
Han Ru says I'M PRETTY SURE THERE'S
ANOTHER ONE.
Stefano says YEAH, ME TOO. THAT TRIPOD OVER
THERE FOR THE CAMERA.
(BEEPING)
The computer says A THREE-LEGGED
TRIPOD OPENS UP INTO A TRIANGLE
BASE KEEPING THE CAMERA STEADY.
IT'S A PHOTOGRAPHER'S BEST
FRIEND BECAUSE SOMETHING WITH
THREE LEGS WILL BALANCE ITSELF
ON ANY SURFACE,
EVEN IF IT'S UNEVEN.
Stefano says THERE YOU GO.
THE EIFFEL TOWER.
(BEEPING)
The computer says THE EIFFEL TOWER
IS MADE UP OF THOUSANDS OF
TRIANGLES. IN FACT, THE TOWER
ITSELF IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE
GEOMETRIC SHAPE OF A FOUR-SIDED
PYRAMID. ALL THESE TRIANGLES AD
ITS TRIANGULAR DESIGN MAKE IT
SUPER STRONG.
Stefano says THE ROOF OF THE HOUSE MAYBE?
(BEEPING)
The computer says EVER NOTICE ROOFS
THAT ARE SHAPED LIKE PYRAMIDS?
THAT'S BECAUSE A PYRAMID FITS
PERFECTLY ON TOP OF A BOX TO
FINISH A HOUSE. ARCHITECTS
CALL THEM HIP ROOFS...
BUT WE LIKE TO CALL THEM COOL!
A square tessellation puzzle appears on screen and a title reads "Brain Bender."
Back in the studio, Hamza says MEET TREVOR AND JASON
WHO WILL BEND THEIR
BRAINS TODAY.
Trevor and Jason appear on the projection screen sitting at a white table with an orange place mat and 10 circular objects that form a 2-D pyramid.
The boys say HI.
Hamza says HI. SO YOU NEED TO MAKE THE
TRIANGLE POINT THE OTHER WAY.
THE CATCH IS YOU HAVE TO DO IT
IN ONLY THREE MOVES. GOT IT?
They both say OK.
Trevor says WHAT IF WE MOVE LIKE THAT,
THAT AND THAT.
Jason says NO.
MAYBE WE CAN MOVE THIS......THIS.
NO.
Hamza says REMEMBER GUYS, YOU ONLY GET
THREE MOVES.
Jason says THREE MOVES...
OH, I THINK I HAVE IT.
OVER HERE, OVER HERE,
AND OVER THERE.
Hamza says THAT'S IT!
Jason says THAT WAS REALLY EASY.
Hamza says DID YOU SEE HOW THEY DID THAT?
Jason says WELL, THIS IS LIKE THE MIDDLE
OF THE PYRAMID AND YOU CAN
SWITCH IT AROUND TO DIFFERENT
DIRECTIONS. SO LIKE HERE,
THERE AND HERE AND THERE.
IT'S PRETTY EASY.
Trevor says COOL!
(LAUGHING)
They give each other a high-five.
Back in the studio, Hamza says WE JUST GOT SOME BREAKING NEWS
HERE AT THE
LOOK KOOL
HEADQUARTERS. WE'VE SECURED
A LIVE INTERVIEW WITH ANCIENT
EGYPTIAN ARCHITECT IMHOTEP.
IMHOTEP?
A small screen appears in the upper left hand corner and Imhotep walks onto the screen. Imhotep is Hamza dressed as a pharaoh.
The crowd says IMHOTEP!
IMHOTEP! IMHOTEP!
Imhotep says HEY, BABY, HOW YOU DOING?
Hamza says WHOA, I WAS EXPECTING TO SPEAK
TO AN ARCHITECT, NOT
A ROCK STAR.
Imhotep says I BUILD PYRAMIDS WITH ROCKS,
THAT MAKES ME A ROCK STAR.
Hamza says OK. WELL...
Imhotep says I'M A STAR ARCHITECT. I'M
A "STAR-CHITECT." MY PYRAMIDS
ARE GREAT. I'M BASICALLY JUST AS
IMPORTANT AS THE PHARAOH. THAT'S
WHY I GET TO BE THE MUMMY.
YOU KNOW, NOT JUST ANYONE GETS
TO BE A MUMMY. HA!
Hamza says WOW! THEY MUST REALLY LOVE
ARCHITECTS IN ANCIENT EGYPT.
Imhotep says YEAH. DID YOU GET MY LIST OF
DEMANDS FOR DOING
THIS INTERVIEW?
Hamza says AH, YES!
UH, FIREWORKS ENTRANCE.
UH, PURPLE CUPCAKES...
YOU GOT SOME REALLY
PICKY DEMANDS.
Imhotep says LOOK, I'VE GOT TO BUILD
A BUILDING RIGHT TO MAKE SURE
THAT IT DOESN'T FALL DOWN.
SO THERE'S LOTS OF DETAILS.
I PUT THINGS IN MY LIST LIKE
"BRING ME THREE EMPTY KETCHUP
PACKETS WITH MY ORANGE JUICE."
ALRIGHT? THAT WAY, I KNOW
THAT MY BUILDERS ARE
PAYING ATTENTION.
Hamza says OH, SO IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR
EMPTY KETCHUP PACKETS...
Imhotep says THEN, I KNOW MY BUILDERS ARE
SKIPPING OUT ON THE DETAILS, AND
THE BUILDING COULD FALL DOWN.
Hamza says SO, IS THAT WHY YOUR PYRAMIDS
HAVE LASTED ALL THESE YEARS?
BECAUSE YOU DEMAND EMPTY KETCHUP
PACKETS AND PURPLE CUPCAKES?
Imhotep says NAH, BABY. A PYRAMID SURVIVES
BECAUSE IT'S NATURALLY STRONG.
Hamza says SEE, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'M
TRYING TO FIGURE OUT: WHAT MAKES
A PYRAMID NATURALLY STRONG?
Imhotep says SEE THIS? THIS IS THE APEX
OF THE PYRAMID. IT'S THE TOP.
ALRIGHT? THAT'S WHERE I'M AT.
AND THIS BOTTOM PART -
YOU SEE? - IT'S WIDE,
THAT'S WHAT MAKES
THE PYRAMID STABLE.
Hamza says HOW COME?
Imhotep says STAND ON ONE FOOT.
ON YOUR TIPTOE.
Hamza says IS THIS LIKE ANOTHER ONE OF
THOSE PURPLE CUPCAKES KIND OF
THINGS OR...?
Imhotep says NAH, I'M TRYING TO TELL YOU
WHY A PYRAMID IS STABLE.
Hamza says OK.
STANDING ON ONE FOOT.
TIPTOE.
Imhotep says HA! HA! YOU SEE? YOU HAD ALL
YOUR WEIGHT ON THIS TINY PART OF
YOUR BODY. THAT'S WHY IT WAS
EASY FOR YOU TO TIP OVER.
Hamza says YEAH, BUT WHAT DOES THAT HAVE
TO DO WITH WHY PYRAMIDS
ARE STABLE?
Imhotep says WELL, LOOK WHERE YOUR LEGS ARE
NOW. AREN'T YOU MORE STABLE WITH
YOUR LEGS SPREAD OUT LIKE THAT?
LOOK AT THE SHAPE YOU'RE MAKING
BABY. YOU'RE MAKING A TRIANGLE
WITH THE FLOOR.
Hamza says OH... I GUESS THAT'S WHY
I STAND LIKE THIS WHEN I'M ON
THE SUBWAY - TO KEEP FROM
TIPPING OVER WHEN I GET JOSTLED.
Imhotep says A SUBWAY? WHAT'S THAT?
ANYWAY. A PYRAMID IS STABLE
BECAUSE ITS BIGGEST PART IS AT
THE BOTTOM. BUT IF YOU INVERT IT
ONTO ITS APEX, IT'S NOT STABLE
ANYMORE EVEN THOUGH IT'S STILL
THE SAME SHAPE.
Hamza says AMAZING!
Imhotep says I KNOW I AM. I KNOW I AM. NOW,
HOW ABOUT MY PURPLE CUPCAKES?
An animation with the pyramid and the alligator appears on screen with them trying to do handstands.
The pyramid says AH! AH!
The alligator says YOU'RE NOT SO STRONG WHEN
YOU'RE UPSIDE DOWN.
HEHEHEHE!
(CROCODILE GROANING)
The pyramid falls on top of the alligator and folds him like an accordion.
The alligator says OK, YOU WIN THIS ROUND.
Back in the studio, Hamza says OH, THE INVESTIGATORS
ARE DONE.
From inside the house, Han Ru and Stefano say HEY!
Hamza says GREETINGS, PYRAMID PALS!
LET'S SEE WHAT YOU FOUND.
WOW! YOU FOUND TONS! LOTS OF
THOSE THINGS USE TRIANGLES TO
HOLD THINGS UP OR HOLD THEM
TOGETHER. WHY DO YOU THINK
TRIANGLES ARE SO STRONG?
Han Ru says I THINK IT'S BECAUSE OF
THE ANGLE.
Stefano says 'CAUSE IF YOU HAVE A PYRAMID
LIKE THIS, THERE ARE PRETTY BIG
CHANCES OF YOUR HUGE PYRAMID
GOING POOF.
Hamza says WELL, LET'S DO A HANDS-ON
AND SEE IF YOU'RE RIGHT.
Now a slate appears with Kool Kat holding up a piece of toast and a title that reads "Hands-On."
Back in the studio, Hamza says ERIN LOVES MATH. SHE'S STUDYING
TO BECOME A MATH TEACHER.
HER DREAM JOB IS TO ONE DAY WOK
AT THE MUSEUM OF MATH IN
NEW YORK CITY.
On the projection screen, Erin, Han Ru, and Stefano work at the kitchen table. Erin is a teenager, has short, straight brown hair, wears glasses, and wears a plaid shirt.
Erin says I'VE BROUGHT WITH ME SOME
SHAPES AND I'M GONNA SHOW YOU
WHY TRIANGLES ARE SO STRONG.
SO I'M GONNA GIVE ONE TO YOU,
HAN RU, AND I'M GONNA GIVE ONE
TO YOU, STEFANO. SO TO TEST HOW
STRONG THIS RECTANGLE IS, I WANT
YOU TO PUT YOUR HAND ON THE TOP
LIKE THIS AND I WANT YOU TO TRY
AND PUSH DOWN, LIKE SIDE TO SIDE
MAYBE. GIVE IT A LITTLE SHAKE.
IMAGINE THAT THIS IS A BUILDING
AND IT'S LIKE A REALLY WINDY
DAY. PUSH AS HARD AS YOU CAN.
YOU ARE THE WEATHER!
DOES THAT LOOK LIKE
A VERY STRONG BUILDING?
Stefano says NO.
Erin says LET'S TRY THE TRIANGLES NOW.
STICK YOUR HAND RIGHT ON THE TOP
JUST LIKE THE OTHER ONE AND TRY
AND PUSH DOWN. PUSH SIDE
TO SIDE.
(GROANING WITH EFFORT)
SO THESE TRIANGLES ARE A LOT
STRONGER, AND IF YOU TAKE
A LOOK - YOU HOLD THAT ONE UP
FOR ME THERE, HAN RU - YOU'RE
PUSHING IT STRAIGHT, STRAIGHT
DOWN. ALL OF THE WEIGHT IS GONNA
GO RIGHT INTO THAT CORNER. WHEN
YOU'RE PUSHING DOWN HERE, SOME
OF THE WEIGHT IS GOING STRAIGHT
DOWN, BUT SOME OF IT IS KIND OF
GOING TO THE SIDE. THEN ON THIS
SIDE, SOME OF THE WEIGHT IS
GOING STRAIGHT DOWN AND SOME OF
THE WEIGHT IS GOING TO THIS
SIDE. YOU'VE GOT STRAIGHT DOWN
AND THEN YOU'VE GOT EITHER SIDE.
AND IT'S THAT EITHER-SIDE
PUSHING THAT SPREADS THE WEIGHT
OUT. WE TAKE A LOOK AT THE
PYRAMID, HOW MANY OF THESE
TRIANGLES DO WE SEE?
Stefano says ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR.
Erin says FOUR. OK. SO YOU THINK ABOUT
HOW STRONG ONE OF THOSE WAS WHEN
YOU WERE PUSHING ON IT AND NOW
MAKE THAT TIMES FOUR AND IN ALL
DIRECTIONS. INSTEAD OF JUST
SPREADING THE WEIGHT OUT ACROSS
ONE LINE, IT'S BEING SPREAD OUT
ACROSS A WHOLE SQUARE.
I CHALLENGE YOU TO TRY AND PUSH
THAT ONE DOWN.
(STEFANO GROANING)
MAYBE IF WE ALL DO IT TOGETHER.
LET'S TRY.
(ALL GROANING)
Stefano says NO.
Hamza says COOL! SO IT LOOKS LIKE
TRIANGLES ARE DEFINITELY A PART
OF WHY A PYRAMID IS STRONG.
Stefano says DEFINITELY!
Hamza dressed with a red and yellow cap with long dark locks appears on screen dancing and singing.
Hamza says NO THREE SIDES NO TRY
NO THREE SIDES NO TRY
OH LITTLE PYRAMID,
DON'T YOU FEAR
YOU ARE STRONG,
THAT'S WHY YOU'RE STILL HERE
YOU HAVE TRIANGULAR FACES
AT THE TOP
THERE IS THE APEX
THAT'S WHERE
ALL THE TRIANGLES MEET
THE WEIGHT GETS PUSHED DOWN
TO YOUR FEET
NO THREE SIDES NO TRY
NO THREE SIDES NO TRY
Kool Kat and gold Kat appears roll up on their red wheels on a road and hit the finish line that reads "Challenge."
(KIDS CHEERING)
Back on the soccer field, Hamza says BACK TO THE EXCITING
LOOK KOOL
PYRAMID CHALLENGE.
TEAM YELLOW IS AHEAD AND
ALREADY
STARTED WORKING ON THEIR SECOND
PYRAMID, THE PENTAGONAL-BASED
ONE. BUT TEAM BLUE IS NOT FAR
BEHIND. THEY'RE FINISHING UP
THEIR SQUARE-BASE PYRAMID AND
HAVE ALREADY STARTED WORKING
ON THE ONE WITH THE
TRIANGULAR BASE.
Veronica says CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE?
Matthew says GOT IT. I'LL TAKE THIS ONE.
Joshua says OK, SURE. HERE, TAPE IT.
I'M JUST GONNA OPEN IT FOR YOU.
Hamza sits in a lounge chair under an umbrella wearing sunglasses and drinking out of a blue cup.
Hamza says AH... FEELS GOOD TO TRADE
IN MY MIND'S EYEGLASSES FOR SOME
SUNGLASSES ONCE IN A WHILE.
GO, TEAM BLUE!
GO, TEAM YELLOW!
Veronica says TRY THAT ONE!
TRY THAT ONE THERE!
Hamza says YOU'RE DOING TERRIFIC!
Mia says PYRAMID DONE!
Hamza says THIS IS WHAT THE PHARAOHS MUST
HAVE FELT LIKE. BUILD ME SOME
PYRAMIDS, KIDS!
YELLOW IS COMFORTABLY AHEAD
HAVING COMPLETED FOUR OF THEIR
FIVE PENTAGONAL SIDES.
Joey says OK, GO-GO-GO-GO-GO!
Mia says IS THIS THE SECOND TRIANGLE?
Hamza says BLUE HAS A LONG WAY TO GO;
THEY'RE JUST STARTING THEIR
SECOND PYRAMID.
Matthew says LET'S GO! LET'S GO! FASTER!
FASTER! I'M GONNA TAPE!
IT'S GONNA GO FASTER.
Hamza says DONE!
Danielle says HERE!
Hamza says IT'S NOW TWO TO ONE
FOR YELLOW. CAN BLUE CATCH UP?
Mia says DONE!
Hamza says YES! BOTH TEAMS HAVE
COMPLETED
TWO PYRAMIDS BUT BLUE'S LAST
ONE
DOES HAVE FIVE FACES.
Matthew says GET THAT SIDE, THAT SIDE!
Veronica says I'M NOT REALLY STEADY
WITH THESE HOLDING!
IT'S REALLY NOT STEADY HERE!
Mia says GUYS, HURRY.
Danielle says YEAH, WE ARE.
WE'RE DOING OUR BEST.
Hamza says REAL SENSE OF URGENCY HERE!
Joshua says WE NEED TO TAPE THESE!
GUYS, THEY'RE WINNING!
Mia says THERE! PERFECT!
Matthew says IT'S GOOD! IT'S GOOD!
IT'S GOOD!
Mia says HOLD IT, PLEASE! I CAN'T TAPE
IT IF YOU DON'T HOLD IT!
Joey says AFTER THIS, WE'RE JUST GONNA
HAVE TO CHECK THE OTHER ONES.
I'LL CHECK THE OTHER ONES.
Mia says UM, CAN YOU PLEASE COME OVER
HERE AND HELP US? PLEASE?
Matthew says JUST ONE MORE PIECE.
GO, GO, GO!
Hamza says IT MAY BE YELLOW
TEAM'S LAST PIECE...
Mia says DONE!
Hamza says BUT IT'S TOO LATE.
Mia says I THINK WE'RE DONE.
Hamza says STOP! STOP!
TEAM BLUE THINKS THEY'RE DONE.
WE'LL SEE AFTER FURTHER
INSPECTION. SO THIS IS THE FIRST
PYRAMID THEY BUILT.
SQUARE-BASED PYRAMID IS GOOD!
The blue team says YAY!
Hamza says AND THE TRIANGLE-BASED PYRAMID
IS ALSO GOOD!
Team blue says YAY!
Hamza says AND THE FINAL
PENTAGON-BASE PYRAMID......IS ALSO GOOD! YOU GUYS WIN
THE
LOOK KOOL
PYRAMID CHALLENGE!
(TEAM BLUE CHEERING)
THESE JAUNTY HATS ARE FOR MY
SUPERSTAR PYRAMID ARCHITECTS.
They all put on the pyramid hats and say THANK YOU!
Hamza says YOU ARE VERY WELCOME. YOU GUYS
DID SUCH A GREAT JOB.
NOW, WHICH SHAPE WAS COMMON
IN ALL OF THE PYRAMIDS?
They all say THE TRIANGLE.
Hamza says ABSOLUTELY. BUT THAT DOESN'T
ANSWER MY QUESTION OF WHY STUFF
AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PYRAMID
DOESN'T GET SQUISHED.
CAN YOU HELP ME MAKE
ANOTHER PYRAMID?
They all say YEAH!
Hamza says ALRIGHT, LET'S GO!
WE MADE HUMAN PYRAMIDS!
They all say YAY!
The two teams form two separate human pyramids.
Hamza says NOW, GIRLS, ARE YOU
BEING SQUISHED?
Danielle says NOT REALLY.
Mia says NO..
Hamza says NO? NOW, GUYS, WHY DO YOU
THINK THAT IS?
The boys on top of the pyramids say 'CAUSE WE SHARE THE
SAME WEIGHT.
Hamza says KIND OF LIKE WHEN YOU HELP
SOMEONE CARRY SOMETHING, IT'S
NOT AS HEAVY BECAUSE YOU'RE ONLY
CARRYING A PART OF IT.
They all say YEAH!
Hamza says OK, WELL, I GUESS THAT'S JUST
ANOTHER PART OF WHAT MAKES
PYRAMIDS SO STRONG. THANKS,
GUYS. YOU GUYS ARE PYRAMID
SUPERSTARS! GIVE YOURSELF
A ROUND OF APPLAUSE!
They all say YAY!
Hamza says PEOPLE AT THE BOTTOM TOO.
(PUBLIC CHEERING)
(ROCK MUSIC)
Imhotep says IT'S FUN TO BE A SUPERSTAR.
Back in the studio, Hamza says PYRAMIDS ARE SO COOL, AND
PYRAMID-SHAPED BUILDINGS
AREN'T JUST IN EGYPT.
OTHER CULTURES BUILT PYRAMIDS
TOO. TODAY, WE'RE STILL
BUILDING
THEM, LIKE AT THE
LOUVRE IN PARIS,
THE SHARD TOWER IN LONDON,
THE PYRAMID ARENA IN MEMPHIS,
THE TRANSAMERICA PYRAMID
IN SAN FRANCISCO,
AND THE MUTTART CONSERVATORY
IN EDMONTON.
AND THESE ARE JUST THE START.
PYRAMIDS ARE EVERYWHERE!
AND I PREDICT...
STRONG PYRAMIDS ARE HERE TO
STAY. SEE YOU NEXT TIME FOR MORE
LOOK KOOL.
The animation of the pyramid and the alligator appear on screen arm wrestling.
The alligator says AH! AH!
AH! AH!
The alligator loses.
The alligator says WAH!
LET'S MAKE IT BEST 2 OUT OF 3.
The alligator loses.
The alligator says WAH! OK.
BEST 3 OUT OF 5.
The alligator loses.
The alligator says WAH! OK, OK.
BEST 20 OUT OF 30.
The alligator loses.
The alligator says WAH!
LET'S MAKE IT BEST 30 OUT OF 50!
HEHEHEHEHE!
The credits roll.

The opening sequence appears on screen.
Hamza spins in a circle while standing in front of a cityscape in the background and puts on black sunglasses. He turns around and looks at the city behind him that transforms into colourful 3-D geometric shapes that fall onto the green grass and start to grow back into a new animated city. All the shapes unfold and the colourful geometric-shaped title rises and unfolds into the sky.
The title reads "Look Kool."
The opening sequence ends.
In the studio, Hamza stacks a pyramid of oranges.
Hamza says AH... I WAS AT THE GROCERY
STORE TODAY AND I SAW A HUGE
PYRAMID OF ORANGES STACKED TALL.
SO, I THOUGHT I WOULD MAKE MY
OWN PYRAMID. IT'S A PRETTY COOL
SHAPE THAT LETS YOU STACK THINGS
ON TOP OF EACH OTHER WITHOUT
THEIR FALLING OVER. BUT I ALWAYS
WONDERED WHY THE FRUITS AT THE
BOTTOM NEVER GOT SQUISHED. HUH!
AND WHAT ABOUT CHEERLEADERS?
A clip of cheerleaders forming a human pyramid appears on screen.
Hamza says WHEN CHEERLEADERS MAKE
A PYRAMID, THE ONES ON THE
BOTTOM ARE HOLDING UP THE TWO R
THREE OTHER PEOPLE. AND THE
PYRAMIDS IN EGYPT HAVE BEEN
AROUND FOR MORE THAN 4000 YEAR.
SO, SOMETHING ABOUT THE PYRAMID
SHAPE MUST MAKE IT SUPER STRONG.
An animation of an orange pyramid in the desert lifting an alligator appears on screen.
The pyramid says AAAH!
The alligator says AH, SHOW-OFF.
Back in the studio, Hamza says WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THIS
MAGICAL PYRAMID POWER?
PYRAMIDS ARE REALLY HARD
TO KNOCK OVER.
(THUDDING)
Kool Kat knocks over the pyramid of oranges. Kool Kat is a blue, toaster-like cat with red roller wheels as paws.
Kool Kat says MEOW!!
Hamza says UNLESS YOU'VE GOT A NAUGHTY
PET CAT.
Kool Kat says MEOW!!
Hamza says AS I WAS SAYING; WHAT IS IT
ABOUT PYRAMIDS THAT MAKES THEM
SUPER STRONG?
Now a slate of Kool Kat sitting on animated grass appears on screen with a title that reads "Deconstruct." Kool Kat breaks apart into several tiny shapes and comes back together.
Back in the studio, Hamza holds up his hands in front of the pyramid and says DECONSTRUCT!
WHOA!
The pyramid transforms into a floating hologram and Hamza says ARE YOU SEEING WHAT I'M SEEING?
IN 2-D.
IN 3-D. HUH!
ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR.
A PYRAMID SURE HAS A LOT OF
TRIANGLES. COULD TRIANGLES HAVE
SOMETHING TO DO WITH WHAT MAKES
PYRAMIDS SO STRONG?
WE BETTER GET THE INVESTIGATORS
ON THE CASE.
Now Kool Kat appears on screen and looks through a magnifying glass at a title that reads "Investigation."
Hamza runs over to his projection screen in the studio and says HEY, INTREPID INVESTIGATORS.
Stefano and Han Ru appear on screen sitting on a couch in a living room. Han Ru has shoulder-length, middle-parted, wavy black hair and Stefano has short, dark brown, feathery hair. They both wear white T-shirts with an eye in the middle with four arrows that point around it.
Han Ru says HI.
Stefano says HI, HAMZA!
Hamza says GUESS WHAT? I TOOK
A PYRAMID APART.
Han Ru says WHAT?!
Stefano says A REAL ONE?
Hamza says OK, OK, NOT A REAL ONE.
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I NOTICED?
THE SIDES OF PYRAMIDS ARE
ALL TRIANGLES.
I WONDER IF THAT'S WHAT MAKES
PYRAMIDS STRONG. TO HELP SOLVE
THIS PYRAMID MYSTERY, CAN YOU
FIND SOME TRIANGLES THAT HOLD
THINGS UP OR KEEP THEM FROM
FALLING APART?
Han Ru and Stefano say WE'RE ON IT.
They begin to look throughout the house.
Han Ru says OK. LET'S SEARCH...
Hamza says WHILE THEY'RE FINDING
TRIANGLES, LET'S BUILD
A PYRAMID!
Kool Kat and gold Kat appears roll up on their red wheels on a road and hit the finish line that reads "Challenge."
(KIDS CHEERING)
Now Hamza appears on a soccer field with blue and yellow pieces of cardboard lying on the ground. He stands in the middle between the blue and yellow team.
Hamza says HI, EVERYONE!
They all say HI, HAMZA!
Hamza says THANK YOU FOR JOINING ME IN MY
FOREST OF TRIANGLES. TO MY LEFT,
I HAVE MATTHEW, JOSHUA, AND
VERONICA; TEAM YELLOW.
(KIDS CHEERING)
AND JOEY, MIA, AND DANIELLE;
TEAM BLUE!
Team blue says YAY!
Hamza says TODAY, YOU ARE GOING TO BE
SUPERSTAR PYRAMID ARCHITECTS!
PYRAMIDS CAN HAVE DIFFERENT-
SHAPED BASES. THAT'S THE BOTTOM
OF THE PYRAMID. SO TODAY, I
TOOK
APART PYRAMIDS WITH BASES THAT
ARE TRIANGULAR, SQUARE, AND
PENTAGONAL, AND I MIXED UP THE
DIFFERENT TRIANGLES THAT MAKE P
THEIR SIDES. YOU HAVE TO PUT
THEM BACK TOGETHER.
THE FIRST TEAM TO BUILD ALL
3 PYRAMIDS WINS THIS CHALLENGE.
HERE ARE YOUR
PYRAMID-BUILDING KITS!
The yellow team says UH-OH... THANK YOU.
The blue team says THANK YOU.
Hamza says TRUST ME, THEY'LL HELP.
ON YOUR MARK.
GET READY.
GET SET.
PYRAMID CHALLENGE GO!
The teams collect their pieces and start putting the cardboard pyramids together.
Matthew says RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!
Joshua says GO, GO, GO, GO! PUT IT HERE!
Hamza says YELLOW TEAM'S
STARTING WITH THE PYRAMID THAT
HAS A TRIANGULAR BASE.
Veronica says OK, DO WE GRAB THAT TRIANGLE?
Hamza says BLUE TEAM'S STARTING
WITH A SQUARE BASE.
Mia says SO LET'S LIFT THIS ONE.
Danielle says SEE, IF IT FITS THIS.
Veronica says THIS ONE WOULD PROBABLY GO
ON THE SIDE.
Joey says I THINK THIS ONE
SHOULD GO HERE.
Danielle says UM, YEAH. WAIT.
Mia says THIS ONE FITS FINE.
Hamza says IT'S REALLY HARD TO
TELL WHICH SIDES FIT WHICH KIND
OF PYRAMID.
Joshua says NO, IT DOESN'T FIT.
Matthew says DOES NOT FIT?
Joshua says TRY THAT ONE.
Matthew says NO, IT'S TOO BIG.
Joey says HERE, I FOUND ANOTHER ONE.
Mia says YOU DID?
Hamza says WE'VE ALREADY GOT A SEMI-
STANDING STRUCTURE OVER HERE
WITH TEAM BLUE. EXCELLENT!
Danielle says YEAH, THAT'S GOOD. PERFECT!
Hamza says TWO SIDES UP AT ONCE.
REALLY GREAT.
Mia says HEY, HOLD ON, I'M GONNA SCOTCH
TAPE IT TOGETHER.
Matthew says THAT ONE IS GOOD!
Hamza says NOW THAT THEY FOUND
THEIR FIRST TRIANGLES, THEY
NEED
TO MAKE THEIR PYRAMIDS HOLD UP.
Mia says KEEP IT.
Joey says I CAN'T!
Mia says I ALMOST GOT IT.
Veronica says YEAH, IT'S PERFECT!
Hamza says TAKE A LOOK AT TEAM YELLOW
OVER HERE. ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC.
WORKING TOGETHER. THEY ALREADY
HAVE A STANDING STRUCTURE
THAT'S STANDING BY ITSELF.
NO ONE'S EVEN HOLDING ONTO IT.
YELLOW ONLY NEEDS ONE MORE SIDE
TO FINISH THEIR FIRST PYRAMID.
Danielle says PUSH IT A BIT FORWARD - THE
TWO PIECES THAT ARE TOGETHER.
Mia says YEAH, I PUT IT BACK.
Hamza says JOEY'S STUCK INSIDE HIS
PYRAMID. GOOD.
Mia says DON'T WORRY, WE'RE NOT GONNA
CLOSE YOU IN THERE, OK?
Hamza says MIA WITH ASSURING WORDS TO
JOEY THAT THEY WILL NOT BE,
IN FACT, CLOSING HIM IN THERE,
WHICH IS TERRIFIC 'CAUSE WE WANT
JOEY OUT HERE HELPING OUT THE
REST OF THE TEAM.
Matthew says DID WE TRY THIS ONE?
Joshua says TRY IT! TRY IT!
Matthew says GET INTO SLOT.
THERE! YEAH, WE GOT IT, GUYS!
Hamza says YELLOW FINDS THEIR
LAST PIECE. OH! AND SO DOES
BLUE. THEY JUST NEED TO MAKE
THEIR PYRAMIDS SOLID NOW.
Matthew says FINISHED! I'M FINISHED, HAMZA!
Hamza says IT LOOKS LIKE TEAM YELLOW'S
FINISHED THEIR FIRST PYRAMID.
LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK WITH
MY MIND'S EYEGLASSES.
Hamza puts his mind?s eyeglasses on.
The computer says ACTIVATION.
ALL PYRAMIDS HAVE THE FOLLOWING
CHARACTERISTICS. FIRST, THERE
ARE THE EDGES. NEXT, THERE ARE
VERTICES OR CORNERS. THE TOP
VERTEX IS CALLED THE APEX.
THE BOTTOM PART OF THE PYRAMID
IS CALLED THE BASE. AND THE
TRIANGULAR PIECES AS WELL AS
THE
BASE ARE CALLED FACES OF
THE PYRAMID.
Hamza says WELL, LOOKS LIKE YOU GUYS ARE
OFF TO A GREAT START!
Team yellow says THANKS.
Hamza says ALRIGHT, WELL, MAKE IT QUICK
BECAUSE I THINK TEAM BLUE IS
CATCHING UP. YOU GOT TWO MORE
PYRAMIDS TO GO. AND WE'LL BE
BACK TO SEE WHO FINISHES THEIR
PYRAMIDS FIRST.
The yellow team says YES!
The animation with the pyramid and the alligator appear on screen.
The alligator says PYRAMID, PYRAMID,
LET ME IN OR I'LL HUFF
AND I'LL PUFF
AND I'LL BLOW!
The alligator blows all his air out and the pyramid doesn?t move.
The alligator says OK, YOU WIN THIS ROUND.
Back in the studio, Hamza says I WONDER HOW THE INVESTIGATORS
ARE DOING ON THEIR SEARCH
FOR TRIANGLES.
On the projection screen, Stefano and Han Ru continue to search around the house.
Stefano says SO...
Han Ru says TRIANGLES THAT HOLD
ITEMS UP. NO, NO...
Stefano says OH, I THINK I FOUND ONE.
Han Ru says YUP. ONE, TWO, THREE.
Stefano takes a picture of a metal compass on the ground and says LET'S TAKE A PICTURE OF IT.
AND PICTURE.
(BEEPING)
The computer says STRONG
TRIANGLE IDENTIFIED.
Now, Stefano says AS WE CAN SEE, THIS TOP PIECE
HERE IS BEING HELD UP BY THIS.
The both say A TRIANGLE.
(BEEPING)
Stefano poses by a triangular bookshelf.
Now Stefano points at a pyramid figurine and says HEY, WHAT ABOUT THAT?
Han Ru says OH YEAH!
(BEEPING)
Hamza says LET'S SEE WHAT OUR MIND'S EYE
COMPUTER HAS TO SAY ABOUT
THIS OBJECT.
The computer says MAYAN AND EGYPTIAN
PYRAMIDS BOTH HAVE SQUARE
BOTTOMS AND FOUR SIDES. ONE OF
THE MOST AMAZING MAYAN TEMPLES
IS CHICHEN ITZA IN MEXICO.
IT WAS USED AS A CALENDAR.
EACH FACE OF THE PYRAMID HAS
91 STEPS WHICH, WHEN ADDED UP
WITH THE SHARED STEP AT THE TO,
TOTALS 365. THAT'S THE NUMBER F
DAYS IN A YEAR. THE MAYANS
REALLY KNEW THEIR MATH.
Han Ru says OH!
Stefano says THE BASE OF THE STOOL.
Han Ru says YOU FOUND ONE.
(BEEPING)
Stefano says WOULD THIS COUNT? IT DOESN'T
REALLY HOLD ANYTHING, BUT...
Han Ru says ACTUALLY, YEAH, IT DOES.
THERE'S THIS ON TOP OF IT.
Stefano says YEAH, IT DOES HOLD THAT.
(BEEPING)
Han Ru says I'M PRETTY SURE THERE'S
ANOTHER ONE.
Stefano says YEAH, ME TOO. THAT TRIPOD OVER
THERE FOR THE CAMERA.
(BEEPING)
The computer says A THREE-LEGGED
TRIPOD OPENS UP INTO A TRIANGLE
BASE KEEPING THE CAMERA STEADY.
IT'S A PHOTOGRAPHER'S BEST
FRIEND BECAUSE SOMETHING WITH
THREE LEGS WILL BALANCE ITSELF
ON ANY SURFACE,
EVEN IF IT'S UNEVEN.
Stefano says THERE YOU GO.
THE EIFFEL TOWER.
(BEEPING)
The computer says THE EIFFEL TOWER
IS MADE UP OF THOUSANDS OF
TRIANGLES. IN FACT, THE TOWER
ITSELF IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE
GEOMETRIC SHAPE OF A FOUR-SIDED
PYRAMID. ALL THESE TRIANGLES AD
ITS TRIANGULAR DESIGN MAKE IT
SUPER STRONG.
Stefano says THE ROOF OF THE HOUSE MAYBE?
(BEEPING)
The computer says EVER NOTICE ROOFS
THAT ARE SHAPED LIKE PYRAMIDS?
THAT'S BECAUSE A PYRAMID FITS
PERFECTLY ON TOP OF A BOX TO
FINISH A HOUSE. ARCHITECTS
CALL THEM HIP ROOFS...
BUT WE LIKE TO CALL THEM COOL!
A square tessellation puzzle appears on screen and a title reads "Brain Bender."
Back in the studio, Hamza says MEET TREVOR AND JASON
WHO WILL BEND THEIR
BRAINS TODAY.
Trevor and Jason appear on the projection screen sitting at a white table with an orange place mat and 10 circular objects that form a 2-D pyramid.
The boys say HI.
Hamza says HI. SO YOU NEED TO MAKE THE
TRIANGLE POINT THE OTHER WAY.
THE CATCH IS YOU HAVE TO DO IT
IN ONLY THREE MOVES. GOT IT?
They both say OK.
Trevor says WHAT IF WE MOVE LIKE THAT,
THAT AND THAT.
Jason says NO.
MAYBE WE CAN MOVE THIS......THIS.
NO.
Hamza says REMEMBER GUYS, YOU ONLY GET
THREE MOVES.
Jason says THREE MOVES...
OH, I THINK I HAVE IT.
OVER HERE, OVER HERE,
AND OVER THERE.
Hamza says THAT'S IT!
Jason says THAT WAS REALLY EASY.
Hamza says DID YOU SEE HOW THEY DID THAT?
Jason says WELL, THIS IS LIKE THE MIDDLE
OF THE PYRAMID AND YOU CAN
SWITCH IT AROUND TO DIFFERENT
DIRECTIONS. SO LIKE HERE,
THERE AND HERE AND THERE.
IT'S PRETTY EASY.
Trevor says COOL!
(LAUGHING)
They give each other a high-five.
Back in the studio, Hamza says WE JUST GOT SOME BREAKING NEWS
HERE AT THE
LOOK KOOL
HEADQUARTERS. WE'VE SECURED
A LIVE INTERVIEW WITH ANCIENT
EGYPTIAN ARCHITECT IMHOTEP.
IMHOTEP?
A small screen appears in the upper left hand corner and Imhotep walks onto the screen. Imhotep is Hamza dressed as a pharaoh.
The crowd says IMHOTEP!
IMHOTEP! IMHOTEP!
Imhotep says HEY, BABY, HOW YOU DOING?
Hamza says WHOA, I WAS EXPECTING TO SPEAK
TO AN ARCHITECT, NOT
A ROCK STAR.
Imhotep says I BUILD PYRAMIDS WITH ROCKS,
THAT MAKES ME A ROCK STAR.
Hamza says OK. WELL...
Imhotep says I'M A STAR ARCHITECT. I'M
A "STAR-CHITECT." MY PYRAMIDS
ARE GREAT. I'M BASICALLY JUST AS
IMPORTANT AS THE PHARAOH. THAT'S
WHY I GET TO BE THE MUMMY.
YOU KNOW, NOT JUST ANYONE GETS
TO BE A MUMMY. HA!
Hamza says WOW! THEY MUST REALLY LOVE
ARCHITECTS IN ANCIENT EGYPT.
Imhotep says YEAH. DID YOU GET MY LIST OF
DEMANDS FOR DOING
THIS INTERVIEW?
Hamza says AH, YES!
UH, FIREWORKS ENTRANCE.
UH, PURPLE CUPCAKES...
YOU GOT SOME REALLY
PICKY DEMANDS.
Imhotep says LOOK, I'VE GOT TO BUILD
A BUILDING RIGHT TO MAKE SURE
THAT IT DOESN'T FALL DOWN.
SO THERE'S LOTS OF DETAILS.
I PUT THINGS IN MY LIST LIKE
"BRING ME THREE EMPTY KETCHUP
PACKETS WITH MY ORANGE JUICE."
ALRIGHT? THAT WAY, I KNOW
THAT MY BUILDERS ARE
PAYING ATTENTION.
Hamza says OH, SO IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR
EMPTY KETCHUP PACKETS...
Imhotep says THEN, I KNOW MY BUILDERS ARE
SKIPPING OUT ON THE DETAILS, AND
THE BUILDING COULD FALL DOWN.
Hamza says SO, IS THAT WHY YOUR PYRAMIDS
HAVE LASTED ALL THESE YEARS?
BECAUSE YOU DEMAND EMPTY KETCHUP
PACKETS AND PURPLE CUPCAKES?
Imhotep says NAH, BABY. A PYRAMID SURVIVES
BECAUSE IT'S NATURALLY STRONG.
Hamza says SEE, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'M
TRYING TO FIGURE OUT: WHAT MAKES
A PYRAMID NATURALLY STRONG?
Imhotep says SEE THIS? THIS IS THE APEX
OF THE PYRAMID. IT'S THE TOP.
ALRIGHT? THAT'S WHERE I'M AT.
AND THIS BOTTOM PART -
YOU SEE? - IT'S WIDE,
THAT'S WHAT MAKES
THE PYRAMID STABLE.
Hamza says HOW COME?
Imhotep says STAND ON ONE FOOT.
ON YOUR TIPTOE.
Hamza says IS THIS LIKE ANOTHER ONE OF
THOSE PURPLE CUPCAKES KIND OF
THINGS OR...?
Imhotep says NAH, I'M TRYING TO TELL YOU
WHY A PYRAMID IS STABLE.
Hamza says OK.
STANDING ON ONE FOOT.
TIPTOE.
Imhotep says HA! HA! YOU SEE? YOU HAD ALL
YOUR WEIGHT ON THIS TINY PART OF
YOUR BODY. THAT'S WHY IT WAS
EASY FOR YOU TO TIP OVER.
Hamza says YEAH, BUT WHAT DOES THAT HAVE
TO DO WITH WHY PYRAMIDS
ARE STABLE?
Imhotep says WELL, LOOK WHERE YOUR LEGS ARE
NOW. AREN'T YOU MORE STABLE WITH
YOUR LEGS SPREAD OUT LIKE THAT?
LOOK AT THE SHAPE YOU'RE MAKING
BABY. YOU'RE MAKING A TRIANGLE
WITH THE FLOOR.
Hamza says OH... I GUESS THAT'S WHY
I STAND LIKE THIS WHEN I'M ON
THE SUBWAY - TO KEEP FROM
TIPPING OVER WHEN I GET JOSTLED.
Imhotep says A SUBWAY? WHAT'S THAT?
ANYWAY. A PYRAMID IS STABLE
BECAUSE ITS BIGGEST PART IS AT
THE BOTTOM. BUT IF YOU INVERT IT
ONTO ITS APEX, IT'S NOT STABLE
ANYMORE EVEN THOUGH IT'S STILL
THE SAME SHAPE.
Hamza says AMAZING!
Imhotep says I KNOW I AM. I KNOW I AM. NOW,
HOW ABOUT MY PURPLE CUPCAKES?
An animation with the pyramid and the alligator appears on screen with them trying to do handstands.
The pyramid says AH! AH!
The alligator says YOU'RE NOT SO STRONG WHEN
YOU'RE UPSIDE DOWN.
HEHEHEHE!
(CROCODILE GROANING)
The pyramid falls on top of the alligator and folds him like an accordion.
The alligator says OK, YOU WIN THIS ROUND.
Back in the studio, Hamza says OH, THE INVESTIGATORS
ARE DONE.
From inside the house, Han Ru and Stefano say HEY!
Hamza says GREETINGS, PYRAMID PALS!
LET'S SEE WHAT YOU FOUND.
WOW! YOU FOUND TONS! LOTS OF
THOSE THINGS USE TRIANGLES TO
HOLD THINGS UP OR HOLD THEM
TOGETHER. WHY DO YOU THINK
TRIANGLES ARE SO STRONG?
Han Ru says I THINK IT'S BECAUSE OF
THE ANGLE.
Stefano says 'CAUSE IF YOU HAVE A PYRAMID
LIKE THIS, THERE ARE PRETTY BIG
CHANCES OF YOUR HUGE PYRAMID
GOING POOF.
Hamza says WELL, LET'S DO A HANDS-ON
AND SEE IF YOU'RE RIGHT.
Now a slate appears with Kool Kat holding up a piece of toast and a title that reads "Hands-On."
Back in the studio, Hamza says ERIN LOVES MATH. SHE'S STUDYING
TO BECOME A MATH TEACHER.
HER DREAM JOB IS TO ONE DAY WOK
AT THE MUSEUM OF MATH IN
NEW YORK CITY.
On the projection screen, Erin, Han Ru, and Stefano work at the kitchen table. Erin is a teenager, has short, straight brown hair, wears glasses, and wears a plaid shirt.
Erin says I'VE BROUGHT WITH ME SOME
SHAPES AND I'M GONNA SHOW YOU
WHY TRIANGLES ARE SO STRONG.
SO I'M GONNA GIVE ONE TO YOU,
HAN RU, AND I'M GONNA GIVE ONE
TO YOU, STEFANO. SO TO TEST HOW
STRONG THIS RECTANGLE IS, I WANT
YOU TO PUT YOUR HAND ON THE TOP
LIKE THIS AND I WANT YOU TO TRY
AND PUSH DOWN, LIKE SIDE TO SIDE
MAYBE. GIVE IT A LITTLE SHAKE.
IMAGINE THAT THIS IS A BUILDING
AND IT'S LIKE A REALLY WINDY
DAY. PUSH AS HARD AS YOU CAN.
YOU ARE THE WEATHER!
DOES THAT LOOK LIKE
A VERY STRONG BUILDING?
Stefano says NO.
Erin says LET'S TRY THE TRIANGLES NOW.
STICK YOUR HAND RIGHT ON THE TOP
JUST LIKE THE OTHER ONE AND TRY
AND PUSH DOWN. PUSH SIDE
TO SIDE.
(GROANING WITH EFFORT)
SO THESE TRIANGLES ARE A LOT
STRONGER, AND IF YOU TAKE
A LOOK - YOU HOLD THAT ONE UP
FOR ME THERE, HAN RU - YOU'RE
PUSHING IT STRAIGHT, STRAIGHT
DOWN. ALL OF THE WEIGHT IS GONNA
GO RIGHT INTO THAT CORNER. WHEN
YOU'RE PUSHING DOWN HERE, SOME
OF THE WEIGHT IS GOING STRAIGHT
DOWN, BUT SOME OF IT IS KIND OF
GOING TO THE SIDE. THEN ON THIS
SIDE, SOME OF THE WEIGHT IS
GOING STRAIGHT DOWN AND SOME OF
THE WEIGHT IS GOING TO THIS
SIDE. YOU'VE GOT STRAIGHT DOWN
AND THEN YOU'VE GOT EITHER SIDE.
AND IT'S THAT EITHER-SIDE
PUSHING THAT SPREADS THE WEIGHT
OUT. WE TAKE A LOOK AT THE
PYRAMID, HOW MANY OF THESE
TRIANGLES DO WE SEE?
Stefano says ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR.
Erin says FOUR. OK. SO YOU THINK ABOUT
HOW STRONG ONE OF THOSE WAS WHEN
YOU WERE PUSHING ON IT AND NOW
MAKE THAT TIMES FOUR AND IN ALL
DIRECTIONS. INSTEAD OF JUST
SPREADING THE WEIGHT OUT ACROSS
ONE LINE, IT'S BEING SPREAD OUT
ACROSS A WHOLE SQUARE.
I CHALLENGE YOU TO TRY AND PUSH
THAT ONE DOWN.
(STEFANO GROANING)
MAYBE IF WE ALL DO IT TOGETHER.
LET'S TRY.
(ALL GROANING)
Stefano says NO.
Hamza says COOL! SO IT LOOKS LIKE
TRIANGLES ARE DEFINITELY A PART
OF WHY A PYRAMID IS STRONG.
Stefano says DEFINITELY!
Hamza dressed with a red and yellow cap with long dark locks appears on screen dancing and singing.
Hamza says NO THREE SIDES NO TRY
NO THREE SIDES NO TRY
OH LITTLE PYRAMID,
DON'T YOU FEAR
YOU ARE STRONG,
THAT'S WHY YOU'RE STILL HERE
YOU HAVE TRIANGULAR FACES
AT THE TOP
THERE IS THE APEX
THAT'S WHERE
ALL THE TRIANGLES MEET
THE WEIGHT GETS PUSHED DOWN
TO YOUR FEET
NO THREE SIDES NO TRY
NO THREE SIDES NO TRY
Kool Kat and gold Kat appears roll up on their red wheels on a road and hit the finish line that reads "Challenge."
(KIDS CHEERING)
Back on the soccer field, Hamza says BACK TO THE EXCITING
LOOK KOOL
PYRAMID CHALLENGE.
TEAM YELLOW IS AHEAD AND
ALREADY
STARTED WORKING ON THEIR SECOND
PYRAMID, THE PENTAGONAL-BASED
ONE. BUT TEAM BLUE IS NOT FAR
BEHIND. THEY'RE FINISHING UP
THEIR SQUARE-BASE PYRAMID AND
HAVE ALREADY STARTED WORKING
ON THE ONE WITH THE
TRIANGULAR BASE.
Veronica says CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE?
Matthew says GOT IT. I'LL TAKE THIS ONE.
Joshua says OK, SURE. HERE, TAPE IT.
I'M JUST GONNA OPEN IT FOR YOU.
Hamza sits in a lounge chair under an umbrella wearing sunglasses and drinking out of a blue cup.
Hamza says AH... FEELS GOOD TO TRADE
IN MY MIND'S EYEGLASSES FOR SOME
SUNGLASSES ONCE IN A WHILE.
GO, TEAM BLUE!
GO, TEAM YELLOW!
Veronica says TRY THAT ONE!
TRY THAT ONE THERE!
Hamza says YOU'RE DOING TERRIFIC!
Mia says PYRAMID DONE!
Hamza says THIS IS WHAT THE PHARAOHS MUST
HAVE FELT LIKE. BUILD ME SOME
PYRAMIDS, KIDS!
YELLOW IS COMFORTABLY AHEAD
HAVING COMPLETED FOUR OF THEIR
FIVE PENTAGONAL SIDES.
Joey says OK, GO-GO-GO-GO-GO!
Mia says IS THIS THE SECOND TRIANGLE?
Hamza says BLUE HAS A LONG WAY TO GO;
THEY'RE JUST STARTING THEIR
SECOND PYRAMID.
Matthew says LET'S GO! LET'S GO! FASTER!
FASTER! I'M GONNA TAPE!
IT'S GONNA GO FASTER.
Hamza says DONE!
Danielle says HERE!
Hamza says IT'S NOW TWO TO ONE
FOR YELLOW. CAN BLUE CATCH UP?
Mia says DONE!
Hamza says YES! BOTH TEAMS HAVE
COMPLETED
TWO PYRAMIDS BUT BLUE'S LAST
ONE
DOES HAVE FIVE FACES.
Matthew says GET THAT SIDE, THAT SIDE!
Veronica says I'M NOT REALLY STEADY
WITH THESE HOLDING!
IT'S REALLY NOT STEADY HERE!
Mia says GUYS, HURRY.
Danielle says YEAH, WE ARE.
WE'RE DOING OUR BEST.
Hamza says REAL SENSE OF URGENCY HERE!
Joshua says WE NEED TO TAPE THESE!
GUYS, THEY'RE WINNING!
Mia says THERE! PERFECT!
Matthew says IT'S GOOD! IT'S GOOD!
IT'S GOOD!
Mia says HOLD IT, PLEASE! I CAN'T TAPE
IT IF YOU DON'T HOLD IT!
Joey says AFTER THIS, WE'RE JUST GONNA
HAVE TO CHECK THE OTHER ONES.
I'LL CHECK THE OTHER ONES.
Mia says UM, CAN YOU PLEASE COME OVER
HERE AND HELP US? PLEASE?
Matthew says JUST ONE MORE PIECE.
GO, GO, GO!
Hamza says IT MAY BE YELLOW
TEAM'S LAST PIECE...
Mia says DONE!
Hamza says BUT IT'S TOO LATE.
Mia says I THINK WE'RE DONE.
Hamza says STOP! STOP!
TEAM BLUE THINKS THEY'RE DONE.
WE'LL SEE AFTER FURTHER
INSPECTION. SO THIS IS THE FIRST
PYRAMID THEY BUILT.
SQUARE-BASED PYRAMID IS GOOD!
The blue team says YAY!
Hamza says AND THE TRIANGLE-BASED PYRAMID
IS ALSO GOOD!
Team blue says YAY!
Hamza says AND THE FINAL
PENTAGON-BASE PYRAMID......IS ALSO GOOD! YOU GUYS WIN
THE
LOOK KOOL
PYRAMID CHALLENGE!
(TEAM BLUE CHEERING)
THESE JAUNTY HATS ARE FOR MY
SUPERSTAR PYRAMID ARCHITECTS.
They all put on the pyramid hats and say THANK YOU!
Hamza says YOU ARE VERY WELCOME. YOU GUYS
DID SUCH A GREAT JOB.
NOW, WHICH SHAPE WAS COMMON
IN ALL OF THE PYRAMIDS?
They all say THE TRIANGLE.
Hamza says ABSOLUTELY. BUT THAT DOESN'T
ANSWER MY QUESTION OF WHY STUFF
AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PYRAMID
DOESN'T GET SQUISHED.
CAN YOU HELP ME MAKE
ANOTHER PYRAMID?
They all say YEAH!
Hamza says ALRIGHT, LET'S GO!
WE MADE HUMAN PYRAMIDS!
They all say YAY!
The two teams form two separate human pyramids.
Hamza says NOW, GIRLS, ARE YOU
BEING SQUISHED?
Danielle says NOT REALLY.
Mia says NO..
Hamza says NO? NOW, GUYS, WHY DO YOU
THINK THAT IS?
The boys on top of the pyramids say 'CAUSE WE SHARE THE
SAME WEIGHT.
Hamza says KIND OF LIKE WHEN YOU HELP
SOMEONE CARRY SOMETHING, IT'S
NOT AS HEAVY BECAUSE YOU'RE ONLY
CARRYING A PART OF IT.
They all say YEAH!
Hamza says OK, WELL, I GUESS THAT'S JUST
ANOTHER PART OF WHAT MAKES
PYRAMIDS SO STRONG. THANKS,
GUYS. YOU GUYS ARE PYRAMID
SUPERSTARS! GIVE YOURSELF
A ROUND OF APPLAUSE!
They all say YAY!
Hamza says PEOPLE AT THE BOTTOM TOO.
(PUBLIC CHEERING)
(ROCK MUSIC)
Imhotep says IT'S FUN TO BE A SUPERSTAR.
Back in the studio, Hamza says PYRAMIDS ARE SO COOL, AND
PYRAMID-SHAPED BUILDINGS
AREN'T JUST IN EGYPT.
OTHER CULTURES BUILT PYRAMIDS
TOO. TODAY, WE'RE STILL
BUILDING
THEM, LIKE AT THE
LOUVRE IN PARIS,
THE SHARD TOWER IN LONDON,
THE PYRAMID ARENA IN MEMPHIS,
THE TRANSAMERICA PYRAMID
IN SAN FRANCISCO,
AND THE MUTTART CONSERVATORY
IN EDMONTON.
AND THESE ARE JUST THE START.
PYRAMIDS ARE EVERYWHERE!
AND I PREDICT...
STRONG PYRAMIDS ARE HERE TO
STAY. SEE YOU NEXT TIME FOR MORE
LOOK KOOL.
The animation of the pyramid and the alligator appear on screen arm wrestling.
The alligator says AH! AH!
AH! AH!
The alligator loses.
The alligator says WAH!
LET'S MAKE IT BEST 2 OUT OF 3.
The alligator loses.
The alligator says WAH! OK.
BEST 3 OUT OF 5.
The alligator loses.
The alligator says WAH! OK, OK.
BEST 20 OUT OF 30.
The alligator loses.
The alligator says WAH!
LET'S MAKE IT BEST 30 OUT OF 50!
HEHEHEHEHE!
The credits roll.
