Hamza says WOULD YOU TRUST A BRIDGE
MADE OUT OF SPAGHETTI?

Han Ru, Stefano, and another person appear on screen stacking books on top of a spaghetti bridge.

Han Ru says WILL IT BREAK?

Shots of different bridges appear on screen and Hamza says OR GO UP IN ONE OF THESE
SUPER
SKINNY CRANES? OR WALK ACROSS A
BRIDGE MADE OF STICKS? YOU
MIGHT
IF THEY USE THESE AMAZING THINS
CALLED TRUSSES. JUST ASK
YOUR AVERAGE BRIDGE TROLL.
WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT BRIDGES?

A bridge troll walks through Hamza?s studio guest door. He is tall with a long, thick black bear, and wears red straw and leaves everywhere.

The bridge troll says I'M A TROLL, I LIVE
UNDER BRIDGES.

Now one of the yellow team members crawls over a bridge in the classroom and Hamza says WATCH THESE GUYS WALK OVER
SHARK-INFESTED WATERS. AND SEE
WHAT MAKES A SEA MONSTER TICK.
ALL THIS AND MORE ON
LOOK KOOL.

(THEME MUSIC)

The opening sequence appears on screen.

Hamza spins in a circle while standing in front of a cityscape in the background and puts on black sunglasses. He turns around and looks at the city behind him that transforms into colourful 3-D geometric shapes that fall onto the green grass and start to grow back into a new animated city. All the shapes unfold and the colourful geometric-shaped title rises and unfolds into the sky.

The title reads "Look Kool."

Kool Kat says MEOW!

The opening sequence ends.

The scene opens in Hamza?s studio. Hamza is in his twenties, has short, curly, dark hair, and wears a white bow tie, a dark blue shirt, and khaki pants.

Hamza says HEY THERE. I'M DOING ORIGAMI.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? COULD BE
A BIRD, OR A BUILDING. I WAS
TRYING TO MAKE A HORSE.
ALL I ENDED UP WITH WAS A BUNCH
OF TRIANGLES. HUH... A LOT
OF THINGS ARE MADE OUT OF
TRIANGLES, THOUGH. LIKE BRIDGES,
CRANES, EVEN BUILDINGS LIKE
THE CRYSTAL CATHEDRAL. WOW,
LOOK AT 'EM ALL! AND THIS
SLIGHTLY FAMOUS TOWER.

Now a slate of Kool Kat sitting on animated grass appears on screen with a title that reads "Deconstruct." Kool Kat breaks apart into several tiny shapes and comes back together.

Back in the studio, Hamza projects the Eiffel Tower into a hologram.

Hamza says ARE YOU SEEING WHAT I'M SEEING?
IT'S ALL BUNCHES OF TRIANGLES.
SMALL TRIANGLES, BIG TRIANGLES,
ALL TO MAKE ONE TOWER. HUH.
I WONDER WHY PEOPLE ARE STILL
MAKING STRUCTURES OUT OF
TRIANGLES. WHY NOT JUST USE
RECTANGLES? RIGHT, COOL CAT?

Kool Kat appears on screen with an outline of a rectangle. Kool Kat is a toaster-like animated blue cat with red roller wheels for paws.

Kool Kat says MEOW!

An animation appears on screen of a builder trying to hammer together a table. The table leg falls and the worker tries to put it back together. He hits his thumb and jumps around.

The worker says AH! AH! OH OOH EEH
OOH OW OOH EEH OW! AH!

Now Kool Kat appears on screen and looks through a magnifying glass at a title that reads "Investigation."

Hamza runs over to the projection screen where Stefano and Han Ru appear standing outside in their neighbourhood.

Hamza says HEY, HAN RU. HEY, STEFANO.

Han Ru has shoulder-length, middle-parted, wavy black hair and Stefano has short, dark brown, feathery hair. They both wear white T-shirts with an eye in the middle with four arrows that point around it.

Han Ru says HEY.

Stefano says HEY, HAMZA.

Hamza says IT SEEMS LIKE TRIANGLE SHAPES
ARE USED A LOT TO BUILD THINGS.
GET OUT THERE AND FIND ME
SOME TRIANGLES.

They turn around and say OK.

They see a crane and say THAT CRANE THERE.

Stefano says OH YEAH. THERE'S A LOT.
THERE'S THREE.

Han Ru says YUP.

The computer says TRIANGLE IDENTIFIED. CRANES
HAVE TO BE LIGHTWEIGHT BUT
ALSO STRONG SO THEY CAN LIFT
HEAVY LOADS HIGH INTO THE AIR.
WITHOUT CRANES, THERE WOULD
BE NO SKYSCRAPERS.

Han Ru and Stefano run over to a bridge.

Han Ru says OK.

Stefano says HEY LOOK, THE BRIDGE.

Han Ru says THAT'S A BIG BIG BIG
BIG BIG ONE. GIANT.

Stefano says BIG ONE. BIG. YUP. THAT ALSO
HAS TONS OF TRIANGLES IN IT.

The computer says BRIDGES MUST BE STRONG
TO WITHSTAND WIND, TRAFFIC
AND EARTHQUAKES.

They continue running and find a bike and Stefano says ANY OTHERS THAT ARE
FILLED WITH TRIANGLES.

Han Ru says OK.

Stefano says THERE'S ONE RIGHT THERE.

Han Ru says YEAH.

Stefano says TRIANGLES HERE,
ALL OVER THE WHEEL.

Han Ru says UH-HUH.

Stefano says THERE'S A TRIANGLE HERE
IN THE SPACE. I THINK WE HIT
THE TRIANGLE JACKPOT.

The computer says THIS BICYCLE DESIGN IS
KNOWN AS THE DIAMOND OR DOUBLE
TRIANGLE TRUSS BIKE. IT'S BUILT
TO RIDE ON TOUGH TERRAIN
WITHOUT
BREAKING. THE STRENGTH OF
THE DESIGN COMES FROM
THE TRIANGLE SHAPES.

Stefano says WOW, WE'VE GONE
TO TRIANGLE HEAVEN.

The animation of the builder trying to fix his table appears on screen. The one table leg collapsed so he puts another flat board on top and creates two triangles to make a rectangle.

Back in the studio, Hamza says OK, SO OUR INVESTIGATORS ARE
FINDING LOTS OF STRUCTURES THAT
ARE MADE OUT OF TRIANGLES FITTED
TOGETHER, LIKE BRIDGES. WHY
ARE SO MANY BRIDGES MADE
OUT OF TRIANGLES?

A knock at the door and the bridge troll walks through Hamza?s guest door.

The Bridge Troll says YOU HAVING ' A BRIDGE PROBLEM?

Hamza says WELL, IT'S NOT REALLY A
PROBLEM, I WAS JUST WONDERING
WHY BRIDGES ARE MADE
OUT OF TRIANGLES.

The Bridge Troll says YOU DON'T CALL THEM TRIANGLES
WHEN THEY'RE IN A BRIDGE. DON'T
YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BRIDGES?

Hamza says WELL, THEY ARE TRIANGLES.
WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT BRIDGES?

The Bridge Troll says I'M A TROLL. I LIVE UNDER
BRIDGES. I STARTED WITH A LITTLE
FOOT BRIDGE AND I'VE BEEN
WORKING MY WAY UP. DRAW BRIDGES,
RAILROAD BRIDGES, HIGHWAY
BRIDGES. BELIEVE YOU ME,
I KNOW FROM BRIDGES.

Hamza says AND ARE THEY ALL MADE OUT
OF TRIANGLES PUT TOGETHER?

The Bridge Troll says ANYONE IN THE BRIDGE RACKET
KNOWS THAT THOSE TRIANGLES
ARE CALLED TRUSSES.

Hamza says TRUSSES?

The Bridge Troll says YEAH. ANY TIME YOU HAVE TWO
TRIANGLES PUT TOGETHER IN A
STRUCTURE, YOU GOT A TRUSS.
TRUSS ME ON THIS. HEH HEH.
THAT JOKE ALWAYS CRACKS ME UP.

Hamza says SO, WHAT'S SO GREAT
ABOUT TRUSSES?

The Bridge Troll says THEY'RE STRONG. THEY'RE ABOUT
THE STRONGEST THING YOU CAN
MAKE. LOOK, SUPPOSE YOU GOT TWO
BARS JOINED TOGETHER. SUPPOSE
YOU ADD A LITTLE OF PRESSURE ON
THOSE BARS. NOW SUPPOSE YOU GOT
THREE BARS JOINED TOGETHER.
ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL.
SEE WHAT I MEAN? SO IF YOU
TRY AND BEND IT NOW...
(GRUNTING)
SEE? FORGET ABOUT IT. ALL YOU
GOTTA DO IS ADD A TRIANGLE TO
IT. A COUPLE OF MORE TRIANGLES,
AND IT BECOMES EVEN STRONGER.
YOU CAN BUILD A BRIDGE, NO
PROBLEM. SEE WHAT I MEAN? AND
IT'S NOT GONNA BEND VERY MUCH.

Hamza says BECAUSE THE BARS KEEP
EACH OTHER FROM MOVING?

The Bridge Troll says YOU GOT IT. IN FACT, I CAN
SHOW YOU A BRIDGE THAT'S NOT
MADE OUT OF TRIANGLES. IT'S MADE
OUT OF JUST ONE TRIANGLE.

Hamza says COME ON.

The Bridge Troll says YOU'RE LOOKING RIGHT AT IT.
IT'S THIS BRIDGE RIGHT HERE. I
KNOW YOU THINK YOU SEE A BUNCH
OF TRIANGLES, RIGHT? WELL, HAVE
I GOT A SURPRISE FOR YOU. ARE
YOU SEEING WHAT I'M SEEING?

Hamza says THAT'S MY LINE.

The Bridge Troll says HEY, I'M JUST BORROWING IT.
THIS BRIDGE IS JUST ONE
TRIANGLE TRANSLATED.

Hamza says WHAT, LIKE INTO FRENCH?

The Bridge Troll says HEH. NAH, COOKIE. WHEN
YOU SAY TRANSLATED IN MATH,
IT MEANS WHEN YOU SLIDE OVER
A SHAPE WITHOUT CHANGING IT.
SO ALL THESE UPWARD POINTING
TRIANGLES ARE BASICALLY THE SAME
TRIANGLE TRANSLATED OVER, RIGHT?

Hamza says I GUESS.

The Bridge Troll says WELL, THEY ARE. THEY'VE GOT
THE SAME ANGLES. THEY'VE GOT
THE SAME LENGTH EDGES. THEY'RE
WHAT WE LIKE TO CALL CONGRUENT,
WHICH IS A FANCY WAY OF SAYING
IDENTICAL. WHICH IS A FANCY WAY
OF SAYING, BASICALLY, THE SAME.

Hamza says I GUESS, BUT WHAT ABOUT
THE UPSIDE DOWN TRIANGLES? OK,
MAYBE THEY'RE THE SAME TRIANGLES
TRANSLATED OVER, BUT THEY'RE NOT
THE SAME AS THE UPWARDS POINTING
TRIANGLES. SO THERE'S AT LEAST
TWO TRIANGLES.

The Bridge Troll says NAH. THEY'RE JUST THE SAME
TRIANGLE ROTATED. SEE? THEY'RE
CONGRUENT TOO. THEY MADE A
BRIDGE USING JUST ONE TRIANGLE.

Hamza says I GUESS IT'S NOT
THAT HARD TO MAKE A BRIDGE.

The Bridge Troll says WITH TRUSSES, A BUNCH OF KIDS
COULD BUILD A BRIDGE.

Hamza says KIDS? REALLY? WELL,
LET'S DO IT. I'M GONNA GET
OUR CHALLENGERS TO BUILD
A TRUSS BRIDGE.

The Bridge Troll says YOU DO THAT. COSTELLO OUT.

Kool Kat and gold Kat appears roll up on their red wheels on a road and hit the finish line that reads "Challenge."

Hamza appears inside a school with the yellow team and the blue team, both with three members each.

Hamza says AND I'M HERE WITH CALVIN,
JULIA AND ELIZAE, TEAM YELLOW.

Team yellow says WOO!

Calvin says MEOW.

Hamza says AND I'M HERE WITH GAVIN,
OWEN, EMMA, TEAM BLUE.

Team blue says YEAH! BLUE. GO BLUE!

Hamza says TODAY'S CHALLENGE IS TO BUILD
A BRIDGE AND GO ACROSS IT
WITHOUT IT COLLAPSING. DO YOU
THINK WE CAN MAKE A BRIDGE OUT
OF NOTHING BUT THOSE BROOMSTICKS
AND THOSE CONNECTORS?

Team yellow says NO.

Team blue says UM...

Hamza says C'MON, DON'T BE SCARED.

Elizae says MAYBE.

Hamza says WELL, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS
CLIP THEM TOGETHER. DOESN'T LOOK
REALLY SOLID, DOES IT? JULIA,
HOLD THAT IN PLACE, AND ELIZAE
AND CALVIN, GRAB ONE END AND YOU
TWO PUSH IT. PUSH IT INWARDS.
HOW WAS THAT? WAS THAT
A LITTLE BIT DIFFICULT?

Julia says WELL, IT'S A BIT HARDER
BECAUSE THERE'S NOTHING IN-
BETWEEN THAT MAYBE WOULD MAKE IT
EASIER FOR ME TO HOLD IT.

Hamza says SO, LET'S ADD ANOTHER STICK
AND MAKE IT A TRIANGLE. HOLD
TIGHT. AND NOW YOU GUYS DO THE
SAME THING AND PUSH IT INWARDS.
AHH! IT'S A LOT STRONGER NOW,
ISN'T IT? SO LET'S ADD TWO
MORE STICKS AND MAKE ANOTHER
TRIANGLE. WOO! NOW WHEN YOU
CONNECT MULTIPLE TRIANGLES
TOGETHER, YOU CREATE A TRUSS.
SO DO YOU THINK YOU CAN BUILD
A STRONG BRIDGE OUT OF TRUSSES?

Both teams say YEAH!

Hamza says I SURE HOPE SO, BECAUSE IF
YOUR BRIDGE COLLAPSES, YOU WILL
FALL INTO SHARK-INFESTED WATERS.

Hamza reveals a great white shark stuffed head.

They all say AH!!

Hamza says SO THE FIRST TEAM TO BUILD
A BRIDGE AND CROSS IT WITHOUT
BECOMING A SHARK SNACK WINS
THE CHALLENGE. ARE YOU READY?

They all say YEAH!

Hamza says ALRIGHT. GET TO BUILDING.

Owen says GO! GO! GO! GO!

Gavin says OK, SO WE SHOULD
LINE 'EM UP FIRST.

Emma says I GOT THESE.

Hamza says OUR CHALLENGERS NEED
TO BUILD A BRIDGE THAT
LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THIS.

Elizae says WE NEED FIVE TRIANGLES.
ONE, TWO.

Julia says TRIANGLES.

Hamza says WILL THEY BE ABLE TO BUILD
BRIDGES SOLID ENOUGH TO WALK ON?
OR WILL THEY END UP AS A SHARK'S
DINNER? WE'LL BE BACK
TO FIND OUT.

Back in the studio, Kool Kat looks at an orange cat origami and says MEOW!

Hamza says OH, I GOT A TRIANGLE. OK,
COOL. THAT'S COOL. AH! COOL CAT!

Hamza looks around the studio at a bunch of origami foldings scattered throughout the room.

Hamza says LOOK AT THE MESS YOU'VE MADE.
ARE YOU GONNA CLEAN IT UP? OF
COURSE NOT. I GET TO CLEAN IT
UP. THAT'S THE THING ABOUT CATS;
YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO CLEAN UP
AFTER 'EM. OH BOY. ALL THESE ARE
TRIANGLES TOO. I WONDER HOW MANY
TRIANGLES THERE ARE IN ONE
OF THESE ORIGAMIS. COUNTING
TRIANGLES, I BET THAT WOULD
MAKE A GOOD PUZZLE.

A square tessellation puzzle appears on screen and a title reads "Brain Bender."

Hamza walks over to the projection screen and he says TODAY'S BRAIN BENDER IS COUNTING
TRIANGLES. NOT AS EASY AS YOU
MIGHT THINK, BECAUSE SOME OF
THE TRIANGLES ARE HIDDEN IN
PLAIN SIGHT. LUCKILY, LEANNA
AND SABRINA ARE HERE AND THEY'RE
ALL SET TO BEND THEIR BRAINS
AROUND THE PROBLEM. HEY, THERE.

Leanna and Sabrina appear on screen in a room in front of a table with a large triangle puzzle.

They both say HI!

Sabrina says THERE ARE LOTS OF TRIANGLES
IN THAT PATTERN. SEE IF
YOU CAN FIND THEM ALL. GO!

Leanna says OK, SO, HERE WE HAVE A
TRIANGLE, SO WE HAVE ONE, WE
HAVE TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE,
SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT, NINE, TEN,
ELEVEN, TWELVE, THIRTEEN,
FOURTEEN, FIFTEEN, SIXTEEN...

Sabrina says YOU DIDN'T DO IT WELL, LEANNA.

Leanna says THEY'RE FINDING A LOT, BUT
THEY'RE COUNTING SO FAST THEY'RE
GETTING CONFUSED. HERE'S A HINT.
SOME TRIANGLES MAY BE MADE
OF OTHER TRIANGLES.

Sabrina says WE HAVE NUMBER ONE. NUMBER
TWO. NUMBER THREE. NUMBER FOUR.
NUMBER FIVE. NUMBER SIX. NUMBER
SEVEN. NUMBER EIGHT. NUMBER
NINE. NUMBER TEN. NUMBER ELEVEN.
NUMBER TWELVE. THIRTEEN.

Leanna says WAIT.

Sabrina says FOURTEEN.

Leanna says YES.

Sabrina says FIFTEEN. SIXTEEN. SEVENTEEN.
SO EQUALS SEVENTEEN.

Leanna says SO WE HAVE SEVENTEEN.

Hamza says YOU GUYS ROCK.
THAT'S THE RIGHT ANSWER.

Sabrina says YAY! HIGH FIVE.

Back in the studio, Hamza says SO, DID YOU FIND AS MANY
TRIANGLES AS LEANNA AND SABRINA?
DID YOU GET THE BIG UPSIDE DOWN
TRIANGLE IN THE MIDDLE? HOW
ABOUT THE TRIANGLES IN THE
CORNER? HOW ABOUT THE WHOLE
THING? THAT'S A TRIANGLE TOO.
THERE'S ALWAYS MORE TRIANGLES
WHERE THOSE CAME FROM. LET'S SEE
IF OUR CHALLENGERS ARE DOING
WELL WITH THEIR TRIANGLES.

Kool Kat and gold Kat appears roll up on their red wheels on a road and hit the finish line that reads "Challenge."

Back in the school, Hamza checks up on the challengers.

Hamza says OUR CHALLENGERS HAVE TO FIGURE
OUT HOW TO BUILD THIS TRUSS
BRIDGE AND THEN BE THE FIRST
TO GET THEIR ENTIRE TEAM
ACROSS IT SAFELY TO WIN.

Elizae says WELL, IT'S GOING
TO NEED TO BE THIS WAY.

Hamza says TEAM YELLOW'S GOT THEIR FIRST
SIDE ASSEMBLED. BLUE'S
NOT FAR BEHIND.

Emma says ONE SIDE IS DONE.
I'LL DO THE CONNECTORS.
YOU GUYS START THE NEXT ONE.

Calvin says THIS IS TECHNICALLY THE TOP.

Hamza says THE BRIDGE HAS THREE SECTION.
YELLOW HAS ALREADY STARTED ON
THEIR SECOND SIDE. FIRST TEAM
TO FINISH BUILDING THEIR BRIDGE
GETS TO CROSS IT FIRST.
THAT WILL BE A BIG
ADVANTAGE IN THIS RACE.

Julia says I DON'T THINK
WE HAVE ENOUGH CLIPS.

Hamza says UH-OH. WILL THEY HAVE ENOUGH
CONNECTORS? YES, BECAUSE ONE
CONNECTOR CAN JOIN A LOT OF
STICKS. BUT YELLOW DOESN'T
REALIZE THIS AND IT'S
SLOWING THEM DOWN.

Calvin says OH, I GET IT.

Julia says YOU USE THEM.

Hamza says BLUE TEAM IS NOW ASSEMBLING
THEIR SECOND SIDE.

Owen says OK, NO, NO, GUYS.

Gavin says OH. ONE OF BLUE'S
SIDES IS BACKWARDS.

Emma says FLIP ONE OF THEM OVER.
ONE OF THEM HAS TO FLIP.

Julia says ONE THERE.

Hamza says YELLOW'S GOT ALL THEIR STICKS
LAID OUT CORRECTLY.

Emma says JUST NEED TO CONNECT THEM,
THAT'S ALL.

Calvin says AND THAT GOES THERE.

Julia says NO, NO.

Calvin says THEY'RE GONNA FINISH
A LITTLE BIT BEFORE US.

Elizae says NAH, IT'S NOT GONNA WORK.
WE NEED TO UNSCREW THIS.

Hamza says WHO WILL CROSS THEIR BRIDGE
FIRST AND WIN THE CHALLENGE?
WE'LL BE BACK TO SEE WHO CAN
HARNESS THE POWER OF THE TRUSS.

Now Hamza appears on screen in front of a crane that lifts sides of a triangle shaped bridge. Hamza is wearing an orange hard hat and an orange work vest with a plaid shirt.

Hamza says I WANT TO GO
UP HIGH IN THE SKY
BUT I'M ONLY ONE SMALL
BEAM SHAPED LIKE AN I
AND IF YOU PUT ME WITH ONE,
ANOTHER WILL BEND
BUT IF THERE'S THREE OF ME
CONNECTED END TO END
THEN YOU CAN TRUST THE TRUSS,
WE'RE SO ROBUST, YOU WON'T HAVE
TO FUSS, WE'RE NOT GONNA BUST
I WANT TO STRETCH OUT
INTO EMPTY SPACE
BUT I ALONE CAN'T
EVEN LEAVE THE PLACE
BUT TRUST A TRUSS, WE'RE LIGHT
AND TIGHT AND STRONG
TOGETHER WE CAN REACH OUT
LONG LONG LONG
UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED
WE FALL, ONE AND ALL, UNITED
WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL
ONE AND ALL

Now an animation appears with the worker building a giant lobster sign with a triangle frame in front of a rollercoaster.

The people in the rollercoaster say WEE!

The worker says HEY!
AHH!

Now a slate appears with Kool Kat holding up a piece of toast and a title that reads "Hands-On."

Back in the studio, Hamza says FRANCIS IS A MECHANICAL
ENGINEER. HIS JOB IS TO FIGURE
OUT HOW TO MAKE ALL KINDS OF
MACHINES. FRANCIS HAS WORKED ON
EVERYTHING FROM A SOLAR-POWERED
HOUSE TO MAKING AIRPLANES SAFER
TO DESIGNING A TOBOGGAN AND
AN ICEBOAT. THAT'S A BOAT
THAT SAILS ON ICE.

Francis appears on screen with Han Ru and Stefano at a table outside. Francis has short, dark hair, is clean-shaven, and wears a plaid white shirt, and light coloured pants.

Francis says SO WE ENGINEERS LOVE TO USE
TRUSSES IN OUR STRUCTURES,
BECAUSE THEY'RE A LIGHTWEIGHT
WAY TO BUILD SOMETHING THAT IS
VERY VERY VERY STRONG. THIS
CRANE, FOR EXAMPLE, IS MADE
ENTIRELY OUT OF TRUSSES, AND
MY BRIDGE, WHICH I MADE OUT OF
SPAGHETTI, IS ACTUALLY MADE OUT
OF TRUSSES AS WELL. IS SPAGHETTI
STRONG? DO YOU GUYS THINK THIS
CAN HOLD ANY WEIGHT AT ALL?

Stefano says YEAH, PROBABLY.

Han Ru says YEAH.

Francis says YOU HAVE FAITH IN
MY ENGINEERING SKILLS?

Stefano says YES. I HAVE FAITH IN YOU,
FRANCIS. I HAVE FAITH IN YOU.

Francis says SO YOU GUYS WANNA SEE HOW MANY
BOOKS WE CAN ACTUALLY PUT
ON THIS BRIDGE?

Han Ru says OK, SURE.

Francis says YEAH, HOW MANY BOOKS DO YOU
THINK WE CAN PUT ON?

Han Ru says UM...

Stefano says I'M BETTING TWO TO THREE.

Francis says REMEMBER THAT THIS WEIGHS
ABOUT 100 GRAMS AND A BOOK
IS ONE KILOGRAM, SO A BOOK
IS ACTUALLY TEN TIMES AS HEAVY
AS THIS BRIDGE. I'LL GIVE YOU
GUYS THE FIRST BOOK,
JUST PUT IT ON SLOWLY.

Stefano picks up the book and says OK, SO...

Hamza says WAIT. WAIT. WAIT. ARE
YOU GUYS GONNA SMASH A TRUSS?

Stefano says YEAH. THAT'S
THE MAIN IDEA HERE.

Hamza says HANG ON A SEC, OK?
I WANNA SEE WHAT HAPPENS.
I'LL BE RIGHT BACK.

Han Ru says OK. WE'LL WAIT FOR YOU.

Kool Kat and gold Kat appears roll up on their red wheels on a road and hit the finish line that reads "Challenge."

Back in the school, the teams are still assembling their trusses.

Owen says OK. OK.
LET'S PUT THOSE TOGETHER.

Hamza says OK, WE ARE BACK AT THE LOOK
KOOL TRUSS CHALLENGE. OUR TEAMS
HAVE TO BUILD A BRIDGE LIKE THIS
AND CROSS IT TO WIN.

Gavin says OK, GO GO GO GO!

Owen says NO, NO. WAIT, WAIT.

Emma says YOU HAVE TO UNDO THAT.

Hamza says TEAM YELLOW HAS ALL THEIR
PIECES IN PLACE AND IS STARTING
THE FINAL ASSEMBLY OF THEIR
BRIDGE. TEAM BLUE IS ALSO
STARTING THEIR FINAL ASSEMBLY.
TEAM YELLOW'S LOOKING ORGANIZE.
THEY'RE ALMOST DONE.

Gavin says COME ON.

Hamza says BUT BLUE ONLY HAS A COUPLE
OF CONNECTORS LEFT TO ATTACH.

Calvin says TOO SMALL HERE. I CAN'T FIT
IT. WHERE'S THE CONNECTOR?

Emma says AH. NO. NO. NO. NO.

The yellow team says WE'RE FINISHED!

Hamza says SO TEAM YELLOW, PUT YOUR
BRIDGE OVER THE WATER. TEAM
BLUE, WHAT'S YOUR STATUS?

Gavin says ONE SCREW LEFT.

Hamza says YOU'VE ONLY GOT ONE SCREW
LEFT? ALRIGHT, HURRY UP. IT'S
ALMOST TIME TO PUT THESE BRIDGES
TO THE TEST. LET'S GO.
LET'S GO. LET'S GO.

The blue team says WE'RE DONE.

Hamza says OK! BRIDGES UP OVER THE WATER.

Owen says FLIP. FLIP.

Now the teams have set their bridges up and Hamza says OK, THE TEAMS HAVE PLACED
PLANKS ON TOP OF THEIR BRIDGES
WHICH ARE READY TO BE TESTED.
THEY'RE GONNA TRY AND MAKE SURE
THAT THEY DON'T FALL INTO THE
SHARK INFESTED WATER. I'LL LET
YOU GUYS IN ON A LITTLE HINT.
IT'S NOT A REAL SHARK.

Both teams say WE KNOW, HAMZA.

Hamza says OH, 'CAUSE I WAS THOROUGHLY
CONVINCED. ARE YOU READY?

They all say YEAH!

Hamza says REMEMBER, YELLOW WORKED FASTER
AND FINISHED FIRST, BUT IF THEIR
BRIDGE ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH AND
THEY FALL IN, BLUE CAN STILL
WIN. ALRIGHT, TEAM YELLOW,
GET TO CROSSING!

Calvin starts to cross and Hamza says CALVIN FIRST ONE UP.
AND GOOD JOB, CALVIN. HE MAKES
IT ACROSS WITHOUT GETTING HURT.

Now Gavin crosses and Hamza says TEAM BLUE.

The other blue team members say GO BLUE! GO BLUE!

Hamza says GOOD JOB. ONE MEMBER FROM EACH
TEAM HAS NOW CROSSED. ALRIGHT.
SECOND MEMBER OF TEAM YELLOW.
LET'S SEE HOW TRUSSES WORK
USING MY MIND'S EYEGLASSES.

Hamza puts on his mind?s eye glasses and looks at the bridge.

The computer says ACTIVATION. IN A TRUSS
BRIDGE,
ALL THE JOINTS ON THE BOTTOM
ARE
IN TENSION. THAT MEANS THEY'RE
PULLING APART. ALL THE TOP
JOINTS ARE IN COMPRESSION,
WHICH
MEANS THEY'RE PUSHING TOGETHER.
THEY CAN'T GO ANYWHERE BECAUSE
THE JOINTS ARE HOLDING
TOGETHER.

Hamza removes his glasses and the yellow team says WOO! GO, YELLOW!
GO, YELLOW! GO, YELLOW! WOO!

The blue team says GO, BLUE! WOO!
GO, BLUE! WOO!

Hamza says FINALLY ON TEAM YELLOW: JULIA.
IF JULIA MAKES IT ACROSS,
TEAM YELLOW WINS THE RACE.

The yellow tam says GO, YELLOW! GO! GO, YELLOW,
GO! GO, YELLOW, GO! GO, YELLOW,
GO! GO, YELLOW, GO! GO, YELLOW,
GO! GO, YELLOW, GO! GO, YELLOW,
GO! GO, YELLOW, GO!
(CHEERING)

Hamza says ALRIGHT, ALL THE MEMBERS
OF TEAM YELLOW HAVE GONE ACROSS.
CONGRATULATIONS, TEAM YELLOW.
TEAM BLUE? IF EMMA MAKES IT
ACROSS, BOTH TEAMS WILL HAVE
BUILT A TRUSS BRIDGE THAT
IS SAFE AND STRONG.

The great white shark stuffed head says RAWR! I HATE TRUSSES.

Later after the competition, Hamza says ALRIGHT. CONGRATULATIONS, BOTH
TEAMS. NO ONE FELL INTO SHARK-
INFESTED WATERS. HOW ABOUT A
ROUND OF APPLAUSE, HUH? I'VE GOT
SOME PRIZES FOR YOU GUYS FOR
DOING SUCH A GREAT JOB.
ARE YOU READY?

The yellow team says YEAH!

Emma says MAYBE!

Owen says IS IT PRIZE MONEY?

Hamza says IT'S NOT PRIZE MONEY.
UNFORTUNATELY.

Owen says I WISH.

Emma says WHAT?

Hamza says WELL, EVERY BRIDGE NEEDS ITS
TROLL. THREE FOR TEAM BLUE.

Hamza gives each team member a troll with green hair.

Owen says HA HA HA.

Calvin says HARDY HAR HAR.

Hamza says I GUESS YOU HAD TO BE THERE.

Julia says HARDY HAR HAR.

Now a slate appears with Kool Kat holding up a piece of toast and a title that reads "Hands-On."

Back in the studio, Hamza says IT'S TIME TO PUT OUR OTHER
TRUSS STRUCTURE TO THE TEST.

Now back with the investigators, Francis says PUT ON THE FIRST BOOK. NOT TOO
FAST, RIGHT? OK, SO THAT'S ONE
KILOGRAM. STEFANO, YOU WANT
TO TRY A SECOND BOOK?

Stefano says SURE.

Francis says TWO BOOKS. TWO BOOKS.
LET'S TRY A THIRD ONE.

Han Ru says AH. WILL IT BREAK? OR WILL IT?

Francis says THINK IT'S GONNA BREAK?

Han Ru says MAYBE.

Han Ru places the third book on top and the spaghetti bridge breaks.

They all say AH!

Stefano says YUP. IT BROKE.

Francis says IT BROKE AT THE THIRD BOOK.

Stefano says YEAH. SO WE WERE RIGHT,
IT WAS TWO BOOKS.

Han Ru says YEAH, TWO BOOKS. TWO BOOKS. IT
HELD TWENTY TIMES ITS WEIGHT AND
THEN IT CRACKED WHEN WE ADDED
TOO MANY BOOKS.

Stefano says WOW. TWENTY TIMES.
THAT'S A LOT.

Francis says EXACTLY. SO, I MEAN, DO YOU
GUYS KNOW HOW MUCH YOU GUYS
WEIGH? MAYBE AROUND
THIRTY KILOS?

Stefano says YEAH, PROBABLY.

Francis says SO IMAGINE SO IMAGINE TWENTY
TIMES THE WEIGHT. THAT'S
600 KILOS. YOU GUYS THINK
YOU COULD LIFT THAT?

Han Ru says NO.

Stefano says NO. I'D BE LIKE,
"MY BACK IS GONNA CRACK!"

Han Ru says YEAH.

Francis says 600 KILOS. THAT'S THE SIZE OF
A SMALL BOAT, OR MAYBE A BABY
ELEPHANT. I'M NOT EVEN SURE.

Stefano says YEAH, AND THEN SNAP.

Hamza says SO, INVESTIGATORS, WHAT WAS
THE MOST SURPRISING THING
YOU FOUND OUT?

Stefano says ONE PIECE OF SPAGHETTI. BREAK.
A BUNCH OF SPAGHETTI PIECES
PUT TOGETHER IN A BRIDGE
INTO TRUSSES COULD HOLD UP
TO TWENTY TIMES THEIR SIZE.

Han Ru says YEAH, I NEVER KNEW
TRUSSES COULD BE SO STRONG.

Hamza says WELL, THAT'S USING YOUR
NOODLE, INVESTIGATORS.
ANYWAY, THANKS A LOT.

All three of them say BYE, HAMZA!

Clips of people building spaghetti structures appear on screen.

Hamza says AND I FOUND OUT THAT THERE
ARE
INTERNATIONAL SPAGHETTI BRIDGE
BUILDING COMPETITIONS. THE WORD
RECORD WENT TO A BRIDGE THAT
HOLDS UP TO 570 KILOS. THE
SPAGHETTI BRIDGE ONLY WEIGHED
ONE KILO. SO THE BRIDGE HOLDS P
TO 570 TIMES ITS WEIGHT. THAT'S
LIKE A GUINEA PIG LIFTING A
POLAR BEAR, AND IT'S ALL DUE
TO TRUSSES. HERE'S A TIP:
DON'T COOK THE SPAGHETTI
BEFORE YOU BUILD A BRIDGE.
TRUSSES COME IN MANY DIFFERENT
SHAPES AND SIZES. LIKE THIS
BEAUTY. THERE ARE DOZENS OF
TRUSS STYLES. WHAT THEY HAVE IN
COMMON IS THAT THEY'RE ALL VERY
STRONG AND LIGHT. SO BOTTOM LINE
IS, YOU CAN TRUST THE TRUSS.
SEE YOU NEXT TIME
FOR MORE
LOOK KOOL.

The Bridge Troll says YOU HAVING ' A BRIDGE PROBLEM?
