The man does various science experiments inside and outside the science lab.
The narrator says, I HAVE.
The man runs through a field with a giant rocket. The rocket is shot into the air and the man laughs. The man does a series of experiments with giant equipment. He fires a giant catapult. A ball from the catapult hits a cardboard castle.
The man cheers, YEAH!
The man slides down a waterslide. An arrow points to the man who swims underwater in a pool
The narrator says, MY NAME IS PHIL AND I TAKE YOUR
EVERYDAY SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS
AND DO THEM BIG.

Over an explosion warning sign, text reads, Experiments at Large, Science Max! Phil balances a spinning bike tire on a tight strap and laughs.
He says, SCIENCE!
Phil narrates, TODAY'S SCIENCE MAX IS
ALL ABOUT BALANCE.
Phil wears a lab coat as he tries to balance a potato with two forks stuck in either side on his finger as he walks between two girls wearing matching lab coats.
He says, AND WHOA-OH-OH! OKAY.
Phil narrates, IF IT'S A POTATO OR IF IT'S ME…
Phil stumbles off a balancing experiment.
He narrates, …FIGURING OUT HOW THINGS BALANCE
IS WHAT WE'RE ALL ABOUT.
Phil spins a ball in a large tube.
He says, IT WORKS REALLY WELL!
Phil stops spinning the ball and it flies out.
He narrates, SWINGING, SPINNING
AND STAYING PUT.
Phil drops an experiment that spills water.
He narrates, TODAY ON SCIENCE MAX!
EXPERIMENTS AT LARGE!
Phil walks on a balance beam in the science lab.
He says, GREETINGS SCIENCE MAXIMITES.
TODAY WE'RE GOING TO BE
TALKING ABOUT…
Phil stumbles on the balance beam.
He says, …WHOA!
Phil stops himself from falling by grabbing a storage rack.
He says, BALANCE, OR WHAT YOU CALL
BALANCE IN SCIENCE,
WHICH IS CENTRE OF GRAVITY.
Phil reaches the end of the balance beam and jumps off. He stands at a table where a spoon is balanced on the eraser of a pencil stuck in a sponge.
Phil says, NOW THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY
IS A PLACE YOU CAN
FIND IN ANY OBJECT
WHERE IT'S EQUALLY
BALANCED ON ALL SIDES.
I BALANCED THIS SPOON ON
THE ERASER OF THIS PENCIL
AND WHERE THE SPOON IS BALANCING
IS ITS CENTRE OF GRAVITY.
BUT IF I TAKE THIS LITTLE TINY
DIME AND PUT IT IN THE SPOON…
Phil tries to place the dime in the spoon but the spoon falls off the eraser.
Phil says, …IT DOESN'T BALANCE ANY MORE.
BUT IF I PUT THE
DIME IN THE SPOON
AND BALANCE IT IN
A DIFFERENT SPOT…
Phil puts the dime in the spoon and places a different part of the spoon on the eraser.
He says, …I CAN FIND THE NEW
CENTRE OF GRAVITY
AND THE SPOON BALANCES AGAIN.
The spoon balances on the pencil.
Phil says, HERE'S ANOTHER
EXPERIMENT YOU CAN DO.
TAKE A POTATO
AND A RULER,
OR A STICK.
Phil pulls out a potato and a ruler.
He says, TRY TO BALANCE THE
POTATO ON THE RULER.
Phil tries, but fails, to balance the potato on the thinnest part of the ruler. When the potato hits the table the spoon falls off the pencil. Phil makes multiple attempts to balance the potato but repeatedly fails.
He says, I'M GOING TO SAVE US
BOTH A LOT OF TIME:
IT'S REALLY HARD TO DO.
THE POTATO DOES HAVE
A CENTRE OF GRAVITY,
BUT BECAUSE OF ITS
SHAPE, IT'S GOING TO BE
REALLY HARD TO FIND AND
REALLY HARD TO BALANCE.
BUT,
IF YOU TAKE SOME FORKS AND YOU
STICK THEM INTO THE POTATO,
YOU'RE NO LONGER JUST TRYING
TO BALANCE THE POTATO,
YOU HAVE TO BALANCE THE
FORKS AND THE POTATO.
Phil sticks a fork on either side of the potato.
He says, AND IT GIVES IT A VERY DIFFERENT
CENTRE OF GRAVITY,
WHICH MAKES IT A LITTLE
BIT EASIER TO FIND
AND A LITTLE BIT EASIER
TO BALANCE.
Phil balances the potato and forks on the ruler.
He says, HA-HA!
The potato starts to lose balance.
Phil says, WHOA!

Phil narrates, LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT
HOW THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY WORKS
USING OUR POTATO.
A potato covers text that reads, centre of gravity.
Phil says, NO, THAT'S TOO CLOSE.
BACK OFF A LITTLE BIT.
The potato backs up.
Phil says, OKAY, GOOD.
IF YOU WANT TO FIND WHERE
THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY IS,
YOU CAN HANG AN OBJECT
AND DRAW A LINE STRAIGHT DOWN.
The potato hangs from a rope. A black line appears in the centre of the potato that lines up with the rope.
Phil says, THEN, HANG IT FROM A DIFFERENT
SPOT AND DRAW ANOTHER LINE.
The potato rotates and another line is added.
Phil says, DO THIS ONE OR TWO MORE
TIMES AND YOU CAN SEE
WHERE THE LINES MEET IS
THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY.
A red dot appears in the potato where all the lines meet.
Phil says, IF OUR POTATO WAS
BALANCED ON A STICK
THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY IS A
LONG WAY FROM THE STICK,
SO IT'S GOING TO BE
PRETTY HARD TO BALANCE.
The potato teeters back and forth on a stick before tumbling off.
Phil says, NOW, LET'S STICK SOME FORKS
IN THE POTATO AND TRY AGAIN.
Forks are stuck into either side of the potato as it hangs from a rope.
Phil says, ONE LINE THERE,
A LINE THERE, AND A LINE THERE
AND YOU CAN SEE THAT THE
LINES ALL COME TOGETHER
DOWN HERE.
A line down the middle of the potato appears. Two lines by each of the forks appear on angles. The lines connect underneath the potato below the line in the middle where a red dot appears.
Phil says, THAT'S RIGHT: THE
CENTRE OF GRAVITY
DOESN'T HAVE TO BE
ON THE OBJECT.
WITH THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY
WAY DOWN THERE,
WHEN WE TRY TO BALANCE
THE POTATO AND THE FORKS
ON THE STICK, YOU CAN SEE
THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY
IS MUCH CLOSER TO THE STICK.
The potato and forks wobble on the stick.
Phil says, THAT MAKES IT WAY
EASIER TO BALANCE.

In the lab, Phil says, NOW BECAUSE YOU'RE

I'M SURE YOU KNOW THAT
A POTATO AND FORKS
IS JUST THE BEGINNING.
Phil runs to another table in the lab where other objects such as an empty water bottle and turkey baster balance on sticks.
Phil says, EVERYTHING YOU HAVE IN YOUR
HOUSE HAS A CENTRE OF GRAVITY,
WHICH MEANS, THEORETICALLY,
YOU CAN BALANCE ANYTHING.
The empty water bottle falls off its stick.
Phil says, TRY IT YOURSELF.
FIND THINGS AROUND THE HOUSE
AND SEE IF YOU CAN
GET THEM TO BALANCE.
AND IF YOU CAN'T, TRY
ADDING THINGS TO INCREASE
THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY AND
MAKE IT A LITTLE BIT EASIER.
Phil starts to gently shake the table. A cup using a pencil and roll of tape to increase its centre of gravity falls off its stick. Phil shakes the table harder and the turkey baster that used a ball and empty water bottle to balance on its stick falls off.
Phil says, NOW, WE'RE GOING TO MAX IT OUT!
Phil heads to another part of the lab.
He says, THAT'S WHY...
Phil admires a chair balancing on a small post.
He says, AHH, OHH!
Phil moves past the balancing chair.
He says, I'M GOING TO GO THE CENTRE
FOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
AND TRAINING
AND WE'RE GOING TO EXPLORE
CENTRE OF GRAVITY EVEN MORE,
SEE IF WE CAN GET
SOMETHING TO BALANCE.
Phil pulls on a lab coat.
He says, AND WHAT BETTER
THING TO BALANCE...
Phil enters a code into a keypad beside a yellow door. The keypad beeps as Phil enters the code.
He says, …THAN ME?
Phil pulls a lever beside the keypad. He opens the door and steps through. Phil is transported to a room where his next step is off of a table. He grunts as he lands on the floor. Phil lies face down on the floor. He groans as he pulls himself up. Phil rubs his forehead before turning to the table.
He says, OH. TABLE. RIGHT.
Phil dusts himself off as he walks through the room.
He says, HEY! THIS IS SANDHYA AND SWAPNA.
NO! SANDHYA AND SWAPNA.
Sandhya and Swapna look very similar. They each have long, black hair, earrings and wear lab coats that match Phil’s.
Sandhya says, RIGHT.
Swapna nods.
Phil says, AND THEY ARE GOING FOR THEIR
PHDS IN SCIENCE.
Sandhya and Swapna smile and wave.
Phil says, AND YOU GUYS…THANK
YOU FOR COMING…
Phil crosses his arms and shakes hands with Sandhya and Swapna
Sandhya says, THANK YOU.
Phil says, …WORK WITH LET'S TALK
SCIENCE, RIGHT?
Both the girls say, THAT'S RIGHT.
Phil says, ALL ABOUT SCIENCE
EDUCATION, JUST LIKE US,
AND I'M GLAD YOU GUYS
ARE HERE BECAUSE
I NEED TO MAX OUT THIS!
Phil pulls a potato with forks stuck in both sides from one of his pockets. He balances the potato on his finger.
Phil says, WOAH! LOOK AT IT BALANCE.
WHOA-OH-OH.
Phil moves his finger around while keeping the potato balanced until he nearly drops it.
He says, OH-OH-OH! OKAY, I GOT IT,
I GOT IT, IT’S FINE.
Phil balances the potato.
Sandhya says, GOOD.
SO, WE'RE GOING TO
GET A GIGANTIC POTATO?
Phil says, NO, I THOUGHT WE
WOULD USE ME INSTEAD.
Swapna says, SO YOU'RE THE POTATO.
Phil says, AH, YEAH I GUESS I'M THE POTATO.
ALRIGHT. AND I NEED
SOMETHING TO BALANCE ON.
Sandhya says, WELL, HOW ABOUT A TIGHTROPE?
Phil says, OH, YEAH. A TIGHTROPE.
HAVE EITHER OF YOU DONE
A TIGHTROPE BEFORE?
Both Sandhya and Swapna say, NOPE.
Phil says, ME NEITHER. ALRIGHT,
LET'S SET ONE UP!
Sandhya says, AWESOME!
Swapna says, ALRIGHT!
Phil says, OKAY, GOOD!
Phil starts to walk to the left, but Sandhya and Swapna head to the right. Phil stops and turns to follow the girls. A blue triangle unfolds and reveals the Science Max! logo.
Phil narrates, WE'RE GOING TO TAKE OUR

The Science Max! logo explodes. Outside, a person grunts as they tighten a racket strap. In a time lapse, Phil continues to tighten the strap. Sandhya and Swapna watch from behind.
Phil stops and says, THERE.
WE'RE USING THIS RATCHET STRAP
ABOVE A CRASH MAT BECAUSE
WE ONLY HAVE IT ABOUT
THREE FEET OFF THE GROUND,
BUT IT’S STILL GOING TO BE
REALLY HARD TO BALANCE ON, RIGHT?
Sandhya and Swapna both say, RIGHT.
Phil says, OKAY, SO WHO GETS TO GO FIRST?
One of the girls says, UHHH...
Both of the girls point to Phil, who’s eyes widen.
He says, OKAY! HERE WE GO.
Phil goes to the end of the strap.
He says, UM, READY?
Swapna helps Phil step onto the strap.
He says, AH, AH...
(Drum roll)
A red dot identifies Phil’s centre of gravity as the centre of his chest.
Phil says, HEY…
Swapna asks, YOU GOT IT?
Phil struggles to balance on the strap.
He says, NOOOO!
The girls laugh as Phil is forced to step off the strap. He tries again but stumbles off the strap.
Phil says, NO. NO.
He tries to step onto the strap again but starts to wobble on the strap
He says, NO-OH-OH.
Sandhya and Swapna laugh as Phil stumbles off the strap.
Phil says, OKAY.
Sandhya says, I THINK WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IS
SPREAD YOUR MASS OUT MORE
TO BE ABLE TO FIND THAT
CENTRE OF GRAVITY EASIER.
Phil says, SO, I SHOULD BALANCE
ON ONE LEG?
Phil tries balancing on one leg.
Sandhya says, START BY TRYING TO
PUT YOUR ARMS OUT.
Swapna says, LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN.
Phil says, GOOD CALL, TRYING IT AGAIN.
Phil grunts as Swapna helps him back onto the strap.
Sandhya says, ALRIGHT. ARMS OUT.
Phil keeps one hand on Swapna and his other up and out beside him.
He says, OKAY.
Sandhya says, LET'S SEE IF THIS WORKS.
A red dot identifies Phil’s centre of gravity as his stomach.
Phil says, OKAY, SO WHEN I SAY, YOU'RE
GOING TO LET GO. READY?
Swapna says, ALRIGHT.
Phil counts, ONE, TWO, THREE, GO!
(Drum roll)
Swapna steps away from Phil who tries to use his arms to balance on the strap.
He says, AHH!
Phil wobbles on the strap.
He says, NOPE!
Phil jumps off the strap.
Sandhya says, IT'S A LITTLE BIT BETTER.
Phil says, IT WAS A LITTLE BIT BETTER.
Sandhya says, YEAH.
Swapna says, A LITTLE LONGER.
Phil says, I WENT FROM ONE SECOND
TO THREE SECONDS!
Sandhya laughs.
Phil cheers, YEAH!
Swapna says, YES!
Phil says, I WOULD LIKE TO
ACTUALLY TAKE ONE STEP.
THAT WOULD BE NICE.
Sandhya says, OKAY, WELL...
Phil asks, WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO?
Swapna says, MAYBE WE CAN TRY WEIGHTS?
Sandhya says, TRY AND HOLD THEM OUT.
Phil spreads his arms out.
He says, IF I HAVE WEIGHTS
IN MY HANDS,
THAT WOULD INCREASE
THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY
IN TERMS OF PUTTING
THE WEIGHT ON THE OUTSIDE.
DO YOU GUYS HAVE
SOMETHING WE CAN USE?
Swapna says, YEAH, ACTUALLY.
Sandhya says, SURE. YEAH.
Phil says, OKAY, GOOD.
Sandhya and Swapna grab weights. Swapna hands her weight to Phil.
Phil says, WOW, THESE ARE HEAVY. OKAY.
Swapna says, THOSE ARE WEIGHTS.
Phil says, YES, THEY ARE.
Sandhya and Swapna laugh.
Phil says, WELL, THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE FOR.
THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE HEAVY.
GOOD CALL.
The girls grin.
Phil says, WHILE I HOLD THIS ONE...
Phil holds the weight in his left hand. He puts his right hand on Swapna’s shoulder.
Phil says, AND I'LL BORROW YOUR SHOULDER
SO THAT WHEN I SAY...
Phil steps onto the strap.
(Drum roll)
He says, …SANDHYA, PASS ME THE WEIGHT.
HERE WE GO.
A red dot identifies Phil’s centre of gravity as his lower stomach. Swapna helps Phil keep his balance.
Phil says, READY? AND PASS ME THE WEIGHT!
Sandhya tries to quickly pass Phil the second weight. He mumbles gibberish as he loses his balance and has to step off the strap.
Phil says, OKAY, THAT DIDN'T WORK.
Phil tries stepping onto the strap again with a weight in each hand. Swapna helps him keep his balance by holding onto his arm.
Phil says, OKAY, GOOD!
WOAH, WOAH!
OKAY, LET GO!
Phil struggles to keep his balance and is forced to step off the strap. He tries again.
Phil says, OKAY, LET GO!
Phil struggles to keep his balance.
He says, OH, OH.
OH NO!
Phil steps off the strap.

Phil tries to lift the weights up but struggles.
Sandhya says, YEAH.

The rooms door closes behind Phil.
Phil says, WELL, NOW YOU CAN TELL THEM

Phil asks, YOU SEE THIS TIMER?
A timer begins counting beside Phil.
Phil says, THE FIRST NUMBER IS SECONDS;

Phil reaches the end of the room and turns around. He walks back through the room.
He asks, CAN YOU BLINK IN A JIFFY?
Phil blinks three times.
He says, NOPE.
TAKES TEN JIFFIES FOR THAT.
HOW ABOUT SNAPPING
YOUR FINGERS?
Phil snaps his fingers.
He says, EIGHT JIFFIES.

JUST TO SAY THAT.

Swapna says, I'LL HELP YOU.

Phil put one foot on the strap.
(Drum roll)
Phil says, OH…
He puts his other foot on the strap.

Phil stands on the strap while holding the pole. Swapna helps Phil keep his balance. A red dot identifies Phil’s centre of gravity as his knees. Phil takes a step on the strap.
Phil says, WOAH, WOAH.

Swapna asks, YOU GOOD?

Phil keeps his balance.

She moves her hand away from Phil.
(Crowd gasping)

Phil starts to wobble on the strap.
He says, TOTALLY HELPING MY CENTRE OF

ABOVE THE STRAP.
Phil starts to lean to the right as he walks on the strap.
He says, WHOO, WHOA.
Phil catches his balance and stands upright on the strap. A crowd cheers.
Phil says, HA-HA-HA-HA-HA.
One of the girls says, HE CAN DO IT.

Phil takes a ping pong ball from his pocket and puts it in the container.
He says, PUT IT IN AND START
SPINNING IT AROUND.
IF YOU DO IT RIGHT,
YOU CAN GET THE BALL SPINNING
ONLY ON THE SIDES
OF YOUR CONTAINER
AND NOT TOUCHING THE BOTTOM.
Phil spins the ball in the container until it only touches the sides.
He says, THAT’S CENTRPIETAL FORCE AT WORK.
Phil watches the ball spinning in the container. The ball spins out of the container.
Phil says, HUH.
He drops the container. He spins a ball in the container again.
Phil says, IT WORKS A LOT BETTER AND
IS MUCH MORE IMPRESSIVE
IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING THAT
DOESN'T HAVE A BOTTOM.
FORTUNATELY, I DO!
Phil takes out the ping pong ball before he puts the CD spindle down. A black bucket is tossed to Phil.
Phil says, THIS BUCKET DOESN’T HAVE A BOTTOM.
Phil moves the CD spindle aside and puts the bucket on the table.
He says, PUT THE PING PONG BALL IN THE
BUCKET AND SPIN IT AROUND
AND IF I'M VERY CAREFUL, I CAN
LIFT THE BUCKET INTO THE AIR
AND...
Phil slowly lifts the bucket off the table. The ball doesn’t fall out.
Phil says, TA-DA!

The ball touches only the sides of the bucket as it spins. Phil looks through the bucket.
He says, SCIENCE!

Phil stops moving the bucket and the ball flies out.
Phil says, IS THAT

Phil holds up the garbage can with no bottom.

Phil holds up the bag of golf balls.
He says, LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN
WE PUT THEM TOGETHER!
Phil dumps the bag of golf balls into the garbage can. He starts to spins the garbage can on the floor. He spins the can faster and tries to lift it off the floor. Golf balls fall out of the can. Phil raises the garbage can where one golf ball spins against the walls of the can.
Phil says, WELL, I MANAGED TO KEEP ONE
GOLF BALL IN MY GARBAGE CAN.
BUT, AS YOU CAN SEE,
IT WORKS REALLY WELL!
Phil stops spinning the garbage can and the golf ball flies out.
Phil says, AND THERE YOU GO!
SORT OF MAXED OUT!
Phil’s attempt at spinning multiple golf balls is re-winded. The bucket lands beside Phil.
Phil says, THIS IS A GARBAGE CAN
WITH THE BOTTOM CUT OUT
AND THIS IS A SOCCER BALL.
Phil holds up a soccer ball.
He says, I'M GOING TO SEE IF I CAN
KEEP THE SOCCER BALL
INSIDE THE GARBAGE CAN
USING CENTRIPETAL FORCE.
Phil balances the soccer ball inside the garbage can that he holds up in front of him.
He says, OKAY.
Phil struggles as he starts spinning the garbage can. The soccer ball starts spinning against the walls of the garbage can.
Phil says, IT'S WORKING!
Phil grunts as he continues to spins the garbage can. He smiles before he stops spinning the garbage can, causing the soccer ball to fly out. Phil breaths heavily.
He says, IT'S VERY TIRING, THOUGH! HA.

Phil places the cup in the centre of the tray.

Phil spins the tray in a circle up and over him with the rope connected to the carabiner.

Phil stops himself from falling by grabbing a storage rack.

Phil reaches the end of the balance beam and jumps off. He stands at a table where a spoon is balanced on the eraser of a pencil stuck in a sponge.

WHERE IT'S EQUALLY
BALANCED ON ALL SIDES.

BUT IF I TAKE THIS LITTLE TINY
DIME AND PUT IT IN THE SPOON…
Phil tries to place the dime in the spoon but the spoon falls off the eraser.
Phil says, …IT DOESN'T BALANCE ANY MORE.
BUT IF I PUT THE
DIME IN THE SPOON
AND BALANCE IT IN
A DIFFERENT SPOT…
Phil puts the dime in the spoon and places a different part of the spoon on the eraser.
He says, …I CAN FIND THE NEW
CENTRE OF GRAVITY
AND THE SPOON BALANCES AGAIN.
The spoon balances on the pencil.
Phil says, HERE'S ANOTHER
EXPERIMENT YOU CAN DO.
TAKE A POTATO
AND A RULER,
OR A STICK.
Phil pulls out a potato and a ruler.
He says, TRY TO BALANCE THE
POTATO ON THE RULER.
Phil tries, but fails, to balance the potato on the thinnest part of the ruler. When the potato hits the table the spoon falls off the pencil. Phil makes multiple attempts to balance the potato but repeatedly fails.
He says, I'M GOING TO SAVE US
BOTH A LOT OF TIME:
IT'S REALLY HARD TO DO.
THE POTATO DOES HAVE
A CENTRE OF GRAVITY,
BUT BECAUSE OF ITS
SHAPE, IT'S GOING TO BE

Phil sticks a fork on either side of the potato.

Phil balances the potato and forks on the ruler.

The potato starts to lose balance.

The potato rotates and another line is added.

The potato teeters back and forth on a stick before tumbling off.

Forks are stuck into either side of the potato as it hangs from a rope.
Phil says, ONE LINE THERE,
A LINE THERE, AND A LINE THERE
AND YOU CAN SEE THAT THE
LINES ALL COME TOGETHER
DOWN HERE.

Phil runs to another table in the lab where other objects such as an empty water bottle and turkey baster balance on sticks.
Phil says, EVERYTHING YOU HAVE IN YOUR
HOUSE HAS A CENTRE OF GRAVITY,
WHICH MEANS, THEORETICALLY,
YOU CAN BALANCE ANYTHING.
The empty water bottle falls off its stick.
Phil says, TRY IT YOURSELF.
FIND THINGS AROUND THE HOUSE
AND SEE IF YOU CAN
GET THEM TO BALANCE.
AND IF YOU CAN'T, TRY
ADDING THINGS TO INCREASE
THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY AND
MAKE IT A LITTLE BIT EASIER.
Phil starts to gently shake the table. A cup using a pencil and roll of tape to increase its centre of gravity falls off its stick. Phil shakes the table harder and the turkey baster that used a ball and empty water bottle to balance on its stick falls off.
Phil says, NOW, WE'RE GOING TO MAX IT OUT!
Phil heads to another part of the lab.
He says, THAT'S WHY...
Phil admires a chair balancing on a small post.
He says, AHH, OHH!
Phil moves past the balancing chair.
He says, I'M GOING TO GO THE CENTRE
FOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
AND TRAINING
AND WE'RE GOING TO EXPLORE
CENTRE OF GRAVITY EVEN MORE,
SEE IF WE CAN GET
SOMETHING TO BALANCE.
Phil pulls on a lab coat.
He says, AND WHAT BETTER
THING TO BALANCE...
Phil enters a code into a keypad beside a yellow door. The keypad beeps as Phil enters the code.
He says, …THAN ME?
Phil pulls a lever beside the keypad. He opens the door and steps through. Phil is transported to a room where his next step is off of a table. He grunts as he lands on the floor. Phil lies face down on the floor. He groans as he pulls himself up. Phil rubs his forehead before turning to the table.
He says, OH. TABLE. RIGHT.
Phil dusts himself off as he walks through the room.
He says, HEY! THIS IS SANDHYA AND SWAPNA.
NO! SANDHYA AND SWAPNA.
Sandhya and Swapna look very similar. They each have long, black hair, earrings and wear lab coats that match Phil’s.
Sandhya says, RIGHT.
Swapna nods.
Phil says, AND THEY ARE GOING FOR THEIR
PHDS IN SCIENCE.
Sandhya and Swapna smile and wave.
Phil says, AND YOU GUYS…THANK
YOU FOR COMING…
Phil crosses his arms and shakes hands with Sandhya and Swapna

Phil pulls a potato with forks stuck in both sides from one of his pockets. He balances the potato on his finger.
Phil says, WOAH! LOOK AT IT BALANCE.

Phil moves his finger around while keeping the potato balanced until he nearly drops it.
He says, OH-OH-OH! OKAY, I GOT IT,
I GOT IT, IT’S FINE.
Phil balances the potato.
Sandhya says, GOOD.
SO, WE'RE GOING TO
GET A GIGANTIC POTATO?
Phil says, NO, I THOUGHT WE
WOULD USE ME INSTEAD.
Swapna says, SO YOU'RE THE POTATO.
Phil says, AH, YEAH I GUESS I'M THE POTATO.

Swapna helps Phil step onto the strap.

TAKE A PENCIL AND TRY TO
BALANCE IT ON ITS TIP.
Phil tries multiple times to balance a pencil on its tip on a table but it repeatedly falls over. He tries spinning the pencil on its tip but it falls.
Phil says, DOESN'T WORK THAT WELL, DOES IT?
BUT IF YOU TAKE A PENCIL AND STICK
IT THROUGH A CIRCLE OF CARDBOARD…
Phil sticks the pencil through a circle of cardboard.
He says, …AND TRY IT AGAIN.
Phil spins the pencil on the table with the circle of cardboard and it remains balanced as it spins.
Phil says, IT WORKS!

Phil lets go of Swapna and starts to wobble on the strap.
One of the girls asks, YOU OKAY?

Phil stumbles off the strap.

Sandhya says, I THINK IT JUST NEEDS TO

Phil holds his arm out straight with the tire.

Phil walks up to a table with a circular, plastic container.

TAKE A PING-PONG BALL
AND PUT IT IN A PLASTIC
CONTAINER, LIKE A CUP, OR
THIS IS THE TOP OF A CD SPINDLE.
Phil takes a ping pong ball from his pocket and puts it in the container.
He says, PUT IT IN AND START
SPINNING IT AROUND.
IF YOU DO IT RIGHT,
YOU CAN GET THE BALL SPINNING
ONLY ON THE SIDES
OF YOUR CONTAINER
AND NOT TOUCHING THE BOTTOM.
Phil spins the ball in the container until it only touches the sides.
He says, THAT’S CENTRPIETAL FORCE AT WORK.
Phil watches the ball spinning in the container. The ball spins out of the container.
Phil says, HUH.
He drops the container. He spins a ball in the container again.
Phil says, IT WORKS A LOT BETTER AND
IS MUCH MORE IMPRESSIVE
IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING THAT
DOESN'T HAVE A BOTTOM.
FORTUNATELY, I DO!
Phil takes out the ping pong ball before he puts the CD spindle down. A black bucket is tossed to Phil.
Phil says, THIS BUCKET DOESN’T HAVE A BOTTOM.
Phil moves the CD spindle aside and puts the bucket on the table.
He says, PUT THE PING PONG BALL IN THE
BUCKET AND SPIN IT AROUND
AND IF I'M VERY CAREFUL, I CAN
LIFT THE BUCKET INTO THE AIR
AND...
Phil slowly lifts the bucket off the table. The ball doesn’t fall out.
Phil says, TA-DA!
I'M DEFYING THE
FORCE OF GRAVITY!
The ball touches only the sides of the bucket as it spins. Phil looks through the bucket.
He says, SCIENCE!
NOW, I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE
THINKING; YOU'RE THINKING,
PHIL, IS THAT IT?
Phil stops moving the bucket and the ball flies out.
Phil says, IS THAT
ALL YOU'RE GOING TO DO?
WELL, OF COURSE NOT!

Phil throws the bucket behind him.
He says, THIS IS A GARBAGE CAN
WITH NO BOTTOM IN IT.
Phil holds up the garbage can with no bottom.
He says, AND THIS IS A BAG OF GOLF BALLS!
Phil holds up the bag of golf balls.
He says, LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN
WE PUT THEM TOGETHER!
Phil dumps the bag of golf balls into the garbage can. He starts to spins the garbage can on the floor. He spins the can faster and tries to lift it off the floor. Golf balls fall out of the can. Phil raises the garbage can where one golf ball spins against the walls of the can.
Phil says, WELL, I MANAGED TO KEEP ONE
GOLF BALL IN MY GARBAGE CAN.
BUT, AS YOU CAN SEE,
IT WORKS REALLY WELL!
Phil stops spinning the garbage can and the golf ball flies out.
Phil says, AND THERE YOU GO!
SORT OF MAXED OUT!
Phil’s attempt at spinning multiple golf balls is re-winded. The bucket lands beside Phil.
Phil says, THIS IS A GARBAGE CAN
WITH THE BOTTOM CUT OUT
AND THIS IS A SOCCER BALL.
Phil holds up a soccer ball.
He says, I'M GOING TO SEE IF I CAN
KEEP THE SOCCER BALL
INSIDE THE GARBAGE CAN
USING CENTRIPETAL FORCE.
Phil balances the soccer ball inside the garbage can that he holds up in front of him.
He says, OKAY.
Phil struggles as he starts spinning the garbage can. The soccer ball starts spinning against the walls of the garbage can.
Phil says, IT'S WORKING!
Phil grunts as he continues to spins the garbage can. He smiles before he stops spinning the garbage can, causing the soccer ball to fly out. Phil breaths heavily.
He says, IT'S VERY TIRING, THOUGH! HA.
HOW DO YOU THROW

Phil pulls out a cup of water from the barrel.

JUST IN CASE.
Phil places the cup in the centre of the tray.
He says, YOU PUT IT ON THE TRAY AND
YOU START SPINNING!
Phil spins the tray in a circle up and over him with the rope connected to the carabiner.
He says, NOW THE FORCES CREATED

HOLDS THE WATER TO THE OUTSIDE
OF THE CIRCLE AND BECAUSE
THE CENTRIPETAL FORCE

EVEN WHEN IT'S UPSIDE DOWN.
When the cup is upside down, the water remains in the cup. Phil’s head turns in a circle as he follows where the cup is as it spins.

Phil brings the spinning cup to a slow stop.
