(SCOTTISH MUSIC)
A traditional Scottish is worn by a mannequin in the dance studio. A flag and swords fill a tartan-covered table. Plaid skirts and dancing shoes are displayed.

CLASS. MY NAME IS KRISTY.
I KNOW SKYE,

Skye says, “THAT WAS GREAT, AIESHA!”
Aiesha says, “THANKS.”
Kristy says, “ALRIGHT, SKYE,
YOU TAKE IT AWAY.
NICE.’
Aiesha says, “SKYE'S DANCE MOVES ARE COOL
AND AWESOME, HOW SHE CAN
JUMP THAT HIGH.”
Kristy says, “YEAH! WHOO!”
Aiesha says, “BY THE WAY, WHAT
IS THIS DANCE CALLED?”
Skye says, “ITS CALLED THE HIGHLAND FLING.”
Aiesha says, “DO ONLY GIRLS DO IT?”
Skye says, “ACTUALLY, NO,
IT STARTED OUT
WITH ONLY BOYS DOING IT.”
Kristy says, “IT'S TRUE. IN FACT,
IT'S PROBABLY THE OLDEST
HIGHLAND DANCE
FROM THE ANCIENT
SCOTTISH TIMES.”
Aiesha says, “I'VE NEVER TRIED
HIGHLAND DANCING BEFORE.”
Kristy says, “I HAVE A CHALLENGE FOR YOU.
HIGHLAND DANCING IS ALL
ABOUT JUMPING,
SO WHO CAN JUMP THE HIGHEST?”
Skye says, “KRISTY MADE US DO
A JUMPING COMPETITION.”
Kristy says, “OH, NICE! TRY IT
ONE MORE TIME.:
Aiesha and Skye jump in the air. A ruler measures their heights.
Skye says,”I THINK IT WAS A TIE.”
Kristy says, “YEP, ALRIGHT,
YOU'RE PERFECT.”
Aiesha and Skye say, “YES!”
Kristy says, “SO, BASICS
FOR HIGHLAND DANCE.
THE FIRST POSITION
IS OUR HANDS ON OUR HIPS
AND OUR FEET IN A GOOD FIRST
POSITION. GREAT. SECOND
POSITION,
YOU PUT ONE FOOT OUT
TO THE SIDE. GREAT.
AND THEN WE'RE GONNA HAVE
ONE ARM COME UP,
AND WE HAVE VERY SPECIAL FINGERS
IN HIGHLAND DANCE:
THAT IS, OUR THUMB COMES
TO OUR MIDDLE FINGER
AND CONNECTS THE DOT,
AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WE HAVE
LITTLE DEERS ON OUR HEADS.”
Aiesha says, “KRISTY TAUGHT US TO DO THIS
WHEN WE'RE DANCING.
IT'S LIKE A DEER.
A DEER SOUNDS LIKE: WAA!
WE HAVE TO ADD JUMPS.
OUT AND BACK AND FRONT AND BACK.
WONDERFUL! ARE YOU SURE YOU
HAVEN'T DONE THIS BEFORE?”
Aiesha says, “YEAH, IT'S MY FIRST TIME.”
Kristy says, “AMAZING.”
(LAUGHING)
Aiesha says, “KRISTY WAS FUNNY,
HELPFUL AND NICE.”
Aiesha and Skye dance in sequence.
Skye says, “I THOUGHT IT WAS REALLY FUN,
AND YOU HAVE TO HAVE
A LOT OF ENERGY
AND MUSCLES TO JUMP IN THE AIR.”
Aiesha jumps up and down as she raises her hand to the sky.
Aiesha says, “IT'S REALLY DIFFERENT TO
THE DANCING THAT FILIPINOS DO,
BECAUSE WE DON'T REALLY DO THAT
MUCH JUMPING. WE JUST DO HOPS.”
Aiesha, Skye, and Kristy hold their fingers together as they hop on one foot. They twirl.
Skye says, “AIESHA DID REALLY GOOD
AT HIGHLAND DANCING.”
Aiesha says, “IT WAS REALLY FUN TO LEARN
HIGHLAND DANCING
BECAUSE I COULD
JUMP IN JOY AND HAVE FUN.”
Aiesha and Skye do the floss dance in the studio. They do a cartwheel.
Skye says, “AIESHA'S NICE AND FUN
AND I HAD A LOT OF FUN
DANCING WITH HER.
AIESHA'S FREESTYLE MOVES
WERE REALLY GOOD.
I THINK IT'S BECAUSE SHE DOES
A LOT OF DIFFERENT TYPES
OF DANCING
AND I THINK SHE'S REALLY,
REALLY GOOD AT IT.
SHE TAUGHT ME THE COFFEE MAKER
AND IT WAS REALLY FUN.
I'VE BEEN WONDERING HOW
TO DO IT FOR A LONG TIME.”
Aiesha and Skye continue to do modern dance moves. Aiesha jumps in front of a mirror.
Kristy says, “ARE YOU GUYS EXCITED ABOUT
DANCING AT THE PARTY TOMORROW?”
Skye says, “YEAH!”
Aiesha says, “I'M SO EXCITED!”
Kristy says, “I'M EXCITED TOO!
I CAN'T WAIT!”
Skye says, “I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE
AIESHA ON STAGE
DANCING WITH ALL
OF MY DANCER FRIENDS AND ME.”
(PHONE RINGING)
Aiesha and Skye say, “HI, EMILY!”
Emily says, “DID YOU BURN UP THE DANCE
FLOOR FOR ROBBIE BURNS DAY?”
Skye says, “WE SURE DID.
WE HAD SO MUCH FUN.”
Emily says, “AND AIESHA, WHAT
DID YOU THINK OF IT?”
Aiesha says, “I LOVED IT. I NEVER TRIED
THIS KIND OF DANCING BEFORE.”
Emily says, “WELL, I HAVE MORE
IN STORE FOR YOU.
AIESHA, YOU'LL BE LEARNING
HOW TO DRESS UP FOR THE PARTY,
AND SKYE, YOU'RE GONNA BE MAKING
SOMETHING RATHER HARDY.
MAN, MY RHYMES ARE TIGHT TODAY!”
(GIGGLING)
Emily says, “OK, TEXTING YOU DETAILS NOW.”
Aiesha and Skye say, “BYE, EMILY!”
Aiesha says, “CAN'T WAIT TO SHOW EVERYONE
MY NEW DANCE MOVES.”
Four kids wave their arms as they dance around a room. They jump in the air.

PARTY TOMORROW,

A FEW MORE THINGS
TO CHECK OFF THE PARTY
TO-DO LIST.

IS BUSY IN THE KITCHEN.
A yellow and green graphic reads, “Party challenge”
Emily says, “CALL AIESHA'S PARTY PHONE.”
(RINGING)
A sign on a building reads, “The Scottish Company”
Aiesha says, “HI, EMILY!”
Emily says, “IT'S TIME FOR YOUR CHALLENGE.
YOU READY TO GET A LESSON
IN SCOTTISH STYLE?”
Aiesha says, “YOU BET!
THAT SOUNDS LIKE FUN!”
Emily says, “PERFECT. MY FRIEND LINDA
IS WAITING FOR YOU.”
Aiesha says, “THAT'S AWESOME.
BYE, EMILY!”
Emily says, “BYE!”

Aiesha says, “HI, LINDA!”
Linda says, “I HEAR YOU'RE GOING TO A
ROBBIE BURNS EVENT TOMORROW.”
Aiesha says, “YES, I AM.”
Linda says, “I'M GONNA SHOW YOU
WHAT THEY WOULD WEAR.
FIRST THING WE HAVE IS THE KILT.
THIS IS A SPORRAN.”
Aiesha says, “THE SPORRAN REMINDED ME OF,
LIKE, THE PURSES.”
Linda says, “THERE'S NO POCKETS
ON THE KILT.
AND THEN WHAT
DO YOU THINK THIS IS?”
Aiesha says, “A KNIFE.”
Linda says, “WHY WOULD THEY
HAVE THAT, YOU THINK?”
Aiesha says, ”TO PROTECT THEMSELVES?”
Linda says, ”ABSOLUTELY. BUT NOW IT'S
JUST PART OF THE OUTFIT.
AND THEN THEY HAVE
THE PRINCE CHARLIE JACKET.”
Aiesha says, “LINDA REALLY TAUGHT ME A LOT
ABOUT SCOTTISH CLOTHES.
THESE ARE SO LONG.
WOULDN'T THEY TRIP ON THEM?”
Linda says, “THEY ACTUALLY TIE
AROUND THE LEG.”
Aiesha says, “WHAT ARE THESE?”
Lina says, “IT'S A KILT PIN.
THIS IS THE MACDONALD CLAN PIN,
WHICH IS SKYE'S CLAN. SO,
YOU READY FOR A CHALLENGE?”
Aiesha says, “OF COURSE I AM.”
Linda says, “IF YOU CAN BRING ME BACK
FOUR OF THESE ITEMS
I GIVE YOU FIVE MINUTES-
THERE'LL BE A SURPRISE.
READY, STEADY, GO!”
Aiesha says, “I'M READY FOR THIS CHALLENGE.”
Aiesha rushes through the Scottish Company store. She grabs a pair of shoes and stockings. She pauses and poses in front of a mirror. She continues to search with 2 minutes left. She reaches for a pin on a high shelf. She approaches a man in a kilt.
Aiesha says, “EXCUSE ME, CAN YOU
COME WITH ME?”
The man in the kilt says, “OK.”
Aiesha leads the man in the kilt back to Linda.
Aiesha says, “LOOK, I GOT EVERYTHING!”
Linda says, “OH, WOW!”
Aiesha says, “I FOUND ALL THE THINGS
ON THE MAN.
THE SPORRAN, THE VEST, THE KILT,
THE SHOES AND THE STOCKINGS.”
Linda says, “GOOD. IT LOOKS AS IF YOU'RE
GONNA GET YOUR SURPRISE.”
Aiesha leaves a dressing room wearing a plaid skirt.
Aiesha says ”HOW DO I LOOK?
THE SURPRISE
OUTFIT WAS REALLY COOL.”
Linda says, “HEY, YOU LOOK GREAT.”
Aiesha says, “IT WAS REALLY AWESOME
TO VISIT THE KILT STORE.
I CAN'T WAIT TO PARTY
WITH SKYE TOMORROW.”
Four kids jump and dance together. They do the floss. A purple graphic reads, “What’s a Sporran?”
The boy in the orange shirt says, “WHAT ABOUT EARRINGS?
YEAH, LIKE
THOSE BIG ONES.”
A dark-haired girl says, “OOH, IT'S A TYPE
OF LIPSTICK!”
WHAT IS THIS?”
A boy in a black shirt says, “LIKE, YOU PUT IT AROUND YOUR
WAIST, 'CAUSE IT HAS A BELT.”

LET'S CHECK IN
WITH SKYE TO SEE
WHAT TRADITIONAL MEAL
SHE'S COOKING UP.”
A Yellow and Green graphic reads “Party Prep”
Emily says, “CALL SKYE'S PARTY PHONE.”
(RINGING)
Skye visits Mackenzie house, a historical building.
Skye says, “HI, EMILY!”
Emily says, “HEY, SKYE! YOU'VE MADE IT
TO MACKENZIE HOUSE!
TIME FOR YOU TO PREP
SOMETHING TO SNACK ON.
HOW ARE YOUR SKILLS
IN THE KITCHEN?”
Skye says, “PRETTY GOOD. I LIKE TO HELP
MY DAD IN THE KITCHEN A LOT.”
Emily says, “WELL, IT'S TIME FOR YOU
TO BE ADVENTUROUS,
BECAUSE YOU'RE MAKING HAGGIS
WITH CHEF CHRIS.”
Skye says, “REALLY? I'VE NEVER
MADE THAT BEFORE!”
Emily says, “IT'S A SPECIAL SCOTTISH DISH
WITH SOME ESPECIALLY
UNIQUE INGREDIENTS.
TIME TO GET
COOKING! GOOD LUCK!”
Skye says, “THANKS, EMILY! BYE!
I'VE NEVER HAD HAGGIS BEFORE
AND I DON'T KNOW
IF I'LL LIKE IT.”
Chris says, “HEY, I'M CHRIS.
WELCOME TO MACKENZIE HOUSE'S
HISTORIC KITCHEN.”
Skye says, “THE KITCHEN LOOKED LIKE ALL
OLD-TIMEY AND IT REMINDED ME
OF WHEN I WAS LITTLE
AND I WOULD PLAY OLD TIME.”
Chris says, “WHAT DO YOU THINK
HAGGIS TASTES LIKE?”
Skye says, “CHICKEN, MAYBE?”
Chris says, “DOESN'T TASTE LIKE CHICKEN.
YOU'RE IN FOR A SURPRISE.”
Skye says, “HAGGIS IS A TRADITIONAL
SCOTTISH FOOD.
WE EAT HAGGIS BECAUSE ROBBIE
BURNS MADE A POEM ABOUT IT.”
Chris says, “SKYE, BEFORE WE START, WE NEED
TO GET INTO OUR COOKING OUTFITS.”
Skye says, “MY OUTFIT HAD A BONNET,
AN APRON AND THIS COOL SKIRT.”
Chris says, “YOU LOOK GREAT.
ARE YOU READY TO START?”
Skye says, “BORN READY.
COOKING TIME!”
Chris says, “SO THE FIRST THING WE NEED
IS THE LAMB PLUCK.
YOU HAVE THE LUNGS,
THE LIVER AND THE HEART.”
Skye says, “IT LOOKS STRANGE.”
Chris says, “OH YES.”
Skye says, “IT KIND OF REMINDED ME
OF, LIKE, A SLUG.”
Chris says, “WE'RE GONNA PUT THIS
IN SOME BOILING WATER
AND WE'RE GONNA LET IT BOIL
FOR A FEW HOURS.
YOU EVER CHOPPED
ONIONS BEFORE?”
Skye says, “THE MOST CHALLENGING PART
WAS SHREDDING THE ONION.
THE ONIONS ARE
MAKING ME CRY.
THEY KEPT MAKING MY EYES STING,
SO IT WAS HARD TO FOCUS.”
Chris says, “OH NO, THE ONIONS ARE
MAKING ME CRY AS WELL!’
(GIGGLING)
Chris says, “GREAT, SKYE, SO THE PLUCK
IS DONE. IT'S BEEN BOILED.”
Skye says, “IT WAS, LIKE, GREY,
AND IT LOOKED
COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
THAN BEFORE
WE BOILED IT..”
Chris says, “AND I'M GONNA
GET YOU TO GRATE
THE LIVER, THE LUNGS
AND THE HEART.”
Skye says, “THE HARDEST THING
TO GRATE WAS THE HEART.”
Skye grimaces as she mimics gratin the heart.
Skye says, “THAT'S A LOT OF MEAT.”
Chris says, “YEAH.
SO, SKYE, LET'S TRY TO GUESS
WHAT SPICES I HAVE HERE.
WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS ONE IS?”
Skye says, “HMM... CINNAMON.”
Chris says, “THAT'S AWESOME.
WHAT ABOUT THIS ONE?”
Skye says, “DEFINITELY NUTMEG.”
Chris says, “RIGHT. SMELL THIS ONE.”
Skye says, “ALL-SPICE.”
Chris says, “ALL-SPICE.
GOOD JOB.
YOU SAID YOU LIKE CINNAMON.”
Skye says, “YEAH, CINNAMON
AND THE NUTMEG.”
Chris says, “LET'S PUT SOME OF THAT IN.
WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT THESE SPICES
IS THAT IT GIVES A NICE SMELL
TO THE HAGGIS.
LET'S JUST
ADD THE OATS IN THERE.”
Skye says, “HE PUT SOME OF THE BOILING
WATER FROM THE PLUCK IN IT
AND THEN MIXED.
CAN I USE MY HANDS?”
Chris says, “SURE, SKYE, GET RIGHT
IN THERE AND MIX IT ALL OUT.”
Skye says, “IT FEELS WEIRD
AND, LIKE, SLIMY.”
Chris says, “YEAH.”
Skye says, “I THINK THIS IS GONNA BE
THE BEST HAGGIS EVER.”
Chris says, “WE'RE GONNA
STUFF THE STOMACH.”
Chris inflates a lamb stomach.
Skye says, “COOL!”
Chris says, “DOES THIS REMIND YOU
OF ANYTHING ELSE, MAYBE?”
Skye says, “A BAGPIPE.”
Chris says, “EXACTLY.
SO WE'RE GONNA
STUFF THIS NOW.”
Skye says, “IT SMELLS REALLY GOOD.
I THINK YOU'RE GONNA SEE
A LOT OF HAGGIS
AT THE ROBBIE BURNS DAY PARTY.”
Chris says, “OUR HAGGIS IS READY
TO BE EATEN.”
Skye says, “HAGGIS TIME!”
Chris says, “HERE IT IS.”
Skye says, “KIND OF LOOKS
LIKE A POTATO.”
Chris says, “HERE YOU GO.”
Skye says, “IT LOOKS GOOD.”
Skye and Chris say, “CHEERS.”
Skye says, “I THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA TASTE
A BIT LIKE CHICKEN, MAYBE,
BUT IT DIDN'T AT ALL.
I'M SURPRISED
IT TASTES SO GOOD.”
Chris says, “WELL, IT IS YOUR RECIPE.
YOU DID A GOOD JOB.
I LIKE THIS A LOT.”
Skye says, “I THINK THAT AIESHA
WILL LIKE THE HAGGIS,
BECAUSE I DIDN'T THINK
I WOULD LIKE IT BEFORE
AND THEN I REALLY,
REALLY LIKED IT
WHEN I TRIED IT, SO I THINK
AIESHA WILL LIKE IT.”
Chris says, “NOW THAT WE'RE DONE,
WE HAVE TO GET BACK
TO OUR REGULAR CLOTHES.”
Skye says, “THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!”
Chris says, “TOMORROW'S GONNA BE
EVEN MORE FUN.”
Skye says, “I CAN'T WAIT! I'M REALLY
EXCITED FOR THE PARTY TOMORROW.”
Emily plays drums.
Emily says, “SKYE AND AIESHA
HAVE BEEN BUSY DANCING
AND COOKING SOMETHING

SONSIE FACE,
GREAT CHIEFTAIN
O THE PUDDIN'-RACE!”
Aiesha says, “THE ADDRESS TO A HAGGIS
WAS, LIKE, REALLY LONG.”
Skye says, “AND IT WAS KIND OF FUNNY.”
The grey-haired man says, “HIS KNIFE SEE RUSTIC
LABOUR DIGHT,
AN CUT YOU UP LIKE
TRENCHING ONIE DITCH;
O WHAT A GLORIOUS SIGHT!”
Skye says, “I KIND OF UNDERSTOOD
WHAT HE WAS SAYING,
PROBABLY JUST BECAUSE
I'M HALF SCOTTISH,
BUT I DIDN'T REALLY
UNDERSTAND HIM.”
Aiesha says, “HAGGIS IS A TRADITIONAL
SCOTTISH FOOD THAT PEOPLE EAT
ALL THE TIME, BUT MOSTLY ON
ROBBIE BURNS DAY AND NEW YEAR'S.”

REALLY LIKED IT.”
Aiesha grabs a plate of haggis on bread.
Aiesha says, “I'M SCARED TO TRY IT.”
Skye says, “DON'T WORRY, I TRIED IT
YESTERDAY. IT'S DELICIOUS.”

DESERVES HIGH FIVES.
HIGH FIVES FOR YOU TOO,
BECAUSE YOU ALSO
MADE THE HAGGIS AND TRIED IT
FOR THE FIRST TIME.
SHOULD WE GO AND ENJOY
SOME MORE HAGGIS RIGHT NOW?”
Aiesha and Skye say, “YEAH!”
Emily says, “OK, LET'S GO!
COME ON!”
Aiesha says, “HANGING OUT WITH EMILY
WAS REALLY AWESOME.
SHE'S REALLY FUNNY.”
Skye says, “EMILY IS REALLY FUN
AND SHE'S, LIKE, ALWAYS HYPER.”
Skye, Aiesha, and Emily explore the Mackenzie house. They try on hoop skirts.”
Skye says, “AULD LANG SYNE
WAS KIND OF HARD
TO SING BECAUSE OF THE BAGPIPE.”
Aiesha says, “IT WAS SO LOUD. IT WAS
RIGHT NEXT TO ME. WAA!
IT WAS LIKE A SCREAMING SHEEP.”
Skye says, “BUT I STILL WANT TO LEARN
HOW TO PLAY ONE.”
Musicians continue to play at the party.
Skye says, “PUT AS MANY AS YOU CAN ON.
ANOTHER ONE…
ANOTHER ONE…”
(GIGGLING)
Aiesha and Skye say, “PARTY WAS AWESOME!”
Aiesha says, “I ATE A LOT OF SHORTBREAD.
I JUST KEPT GOING DOWNSTAIRS
AND BEING LIKE...
AND THERE WERE SOME CRUMBS
ON MY LIPS.
I LOVE THIS.”
Skye says, “I DON'T THINK I ATE
AS MANY AS AIESHA DID.”
Aiesha says, “TOTALLY, I COULD EAT
MORE SHORTBREAD.”
Aiesha puts more shortbread cookies on a napkin. Emily dances with a group of women and girls in traditional clothing. People clap as some girl Highland dance. Others hold hands and dance in a circle.
Aiesha says, “WHAT I LEARNED WAS THAT
THE DANCING, HIGHLAND DANCING,
IT'S MOSTLY ABOUT JUMPING,
AND ALL THE FOOD
SMELLS SO GOOD, BUT THE
INGREDIENTS ARE KIND OF...
EH... YEAH.”
Aiesha, Skye, and Emily pose for numerous selfies.
Skye says, “I THINK THAT ME AND AIESHA
GET ALONG PRETTY WELL
AND WE'RE FRIENDS NOW,
SO I WAS PLANNING TO, LIKE,
HANG OUT MAYBE SOMETIME.”
Emily says, “WHAT A COOL PARTY!
THAT HAGGIS WAS HEARTY.
I MET LOTS OF NEW FRIENDS.
I HOPE THE PARTY NEVER ENDS.
YOU CAN JOIN IN
ON THE PARTY'S FUN;
NEW EXPERIENCES
ARE FOR EVERYONE.
CELEBRATING POET ROBBIE BURNS
WILL HAVE MANY HAPPY RETURNS.
I GUESS I'LL SEE YOU NEXT TIME,
BUT I PROBABLY WON'T RHYME. BYE!”
Aiesha and Skye shout, “IT'S MY PARTY!”
