A split screen shows images of kids playing kitchenware as musical instruments.

In colourful letters, the name of the show appears between a fork and a knife. It reads "My world kitchen."

The narrator says WHOSE KITCHEN ARE
WE GOING TO TODAY?

Kay opens his door and says HI, MY NAME IS KAY.
WELCOME TO MY HOUSE, COME IN.

Kay is around 8, with short curly brown hair and wears brown trousers and a green tee.

He says THIS IS MY MUM.

Mum says HI.

The narrator says HI, MUM.

Kay says AND TODAY WE ARE GOING TO BE
MAKING DILL PICKLE SOUP BECAUSE
I LOVE THE TASTE.

The narrator says KAY'S MUM HAS SHOWN HIM A
VERY SPECIAL WAY TO MAKE POLISH
DILL PICKLE SOUP THAT'S
INCREDIBLY TASTY.
KAY'S FAMILY ARE POLISH AND
ORIGINALLY COME FROM A COUNTRY
CALLED POLAND.

An animated world map shows the location of Poland.

The narrator says POLAND IS A LARGE COUNTRY IN
EUROPE.
WINTERS IN POLAND ARE LONG AND
COLD, AND MANY YEARS AGO,
POLISH PEOPLE WOULD NEED TO
GROW ENOUGH FOOD IN THE SUMMER
TO LAST THEM THROUGH THE
WINTER.
TO MAKE VEGETABLES LAST LONGER,
THEY WOULD OFTEN PUT THEM IN A
MIXTURE CALLED A PICKLE.
SMALL CUCUMBERS THAT HAVE BEEN
PICKLED ARE VERY POPULAR IN
POLAND, AND THEY ARE SOMETIMES
USED IN DELICIOUS SOUPS.
KAY'S WASHED HIS HANDS, PUT ON
HIS APRON AND HE'S READY TO
COOK.

Kay says TODAY I'M GOING TO BE MAKING
DILL PICKLE SOUP FOR MY FRIENDS.

The narrator says AND HE'S INVITED HARRY, EVAN
AND SOPHIE TO TASTE ONE OF THE
MAIN INGREDIENTS BEFORE THEY
COME ROUND FOR A DELICIOUS
POLISH MEAL LATER.

Harry is around 8, with short wavy blond hair and wears a blue tee.

Evan is around 8, with short straight red hair and wears a pale blue buttoned tee.

Sophie is around 8, with long straight blond hair with bangs in a low ponytail and wears glasses and a purple hooded sweatshirt.

The narrator says WHAT'S THAT?

The friends open a box with the secret ingredient.

Harry says IT LOOKS LIKE A SLUG.

The narrator says OH-HO, IT'S NOT A SLUG.

Sophie says IT FEELS SQUISHY AND A LITTLE
BIT, UMM, WET.

Harry says I THINK IT MIGHT BE A PEPPER
OR SOMETHING.

The narrator says OHH, IT'S NOT A PEPPER
EITHER.

Harry says IT'S QUITE VINEGARY.

Evan says I THINK IT'S PICKLE.

The narrator says THAT'S RIGHT, IT'S DILL
PICKLE.

Harry says I REALLY LIKE THE TASTE.

The narrator says OH, GOOD.

Evan says I CAN'T REALLY DESCRIBE IT,
BUT IT JUST DOESN'T TASTE NICE.

The narrator says UH-OH, NOT EVERYONE LIKES IT.
CAN KAY CHANGE THEIR MINDS?
BECAUSE DILL PICKLE IS AN
IMPORTANT INGREDIENT IN HIS
RECIPE.
AS WELL AS DILL PICKLE, YOU'LL
NEED CREAM, SPRING ONIONS,
CARROTS, STOCK POWDER, BREAD
ROLLS, NEW POTATOES, AND WARM
WATER.

Kay says SO FIRST WE'RE GOING TO CUT
THE TOP AND THE TAIL FOR THE
SPRING ONIONS.

The narrator says THEN JUST CAREFULLY CUT THEM
UP INTO LITTLE PIECES.

Kay says AND NOW I'M GOING TO PICK
THEM UP AND PUT THEM IN THE
BOWL.

The narrator says THEN TAKE COLD NEW POTATOES
WHICH MUM COOKED EARLIER,
CAREFULLY CUT THEM INTO SMALLER
PIECES AND ADD THEM TO THE
SPRING ONIONS.
SPOON STOCK POWDER INTO WARM
WATER AND MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX
IT.
ADD IT TO THE DISH AND MIX IT
AGAIN.
WHAT'S NEXT?

Kay says WE'RE GOING TO SNAP THESE
CARROTS INTO LITTLE PIECES SO
IT'S EASIER TO GRATE IT.

The narrator says POP THE CHUNKS INTO A GRATER.
AND HERE'S KAY'S SISTER, MAYA,
TO HELP.

Older sister Maya helps get the grater to stay put while Kay spins the handle.

Maya says COME ON, YOU CAN DO IT.

The narrator says YES, HE CAN.

Kay says I'M GLAD I'VE GOT MAYA
HERE TO HELP ME WITH THE
GRATING.

The narrator says OH, WELL DONE, YOU TWO.

Kay says OKAY, NOW IT'S TIME FOR MY
SPECIAL INGREDIENT.

The narrator says AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS,
DON'T YOU?
IT'S DILL PICKLE.
DILL PICKLES ARE SMALL
CUCUMBERS THAT HAVE BEEN SOAKED
IN A MIXTURE.
THE MIXTURE MOSTLY CONTAINS
VINEGAR, A HERB CALLED DILL,
MUSTARD SEEDS AND WATER.
THIS MAKES THEM VERY TASTY.
CUCUMBERS ARE GROWN FROM SEED
AND CUCUMBER PLANTS ARE CALLED
VINES.
THESE GROW YELLOW FLOWERS.
MANY OF THESE FLOWERS GROW INTO
THE CUCUMBERS THAT WE EAT.
THERE ARE LOTS OF DIFFERENT
TYPES OF CUCUMBERS, SOME HAVE
SMOOTH SKINS AND SOME HAVE
BUMPY SKINS.
EATING CUCUMBER IS VERY GOOD
FOR YOU.
IT'S THOUGHT THAT IT CAN EVEN
HELP YOU KEEP AWAKE WHEN YOU'RE
FEELING TIRED.

Kay says I'M GOING TO TAKE THREE DILL
PICKLES AND DRY THEM ON SOME
TISSUE.

The narrator says GOOD IDEA, KAY.
AND CAREFULLY CUT FOUR SLICES
TO SAVE FOR LATER.

Kay puts the pieces in the grater and says PUT THE REST IN HERE SO I CAN
GRATE IT.

The narrator says AH-HA, THAT'S A "GRATE."
IDEA.
WHEN YOU'RE DONE, MAKE SURE YOU
GET EVERYTHING OUT WITH A FORK,
THEN POP IT INTO YOUR CASSEROLE
DISH WITH THE GRATED CARROT.
GIVE IT ALL A GOOD MIX.

Kay says NOW THAT IT'S READY, IT'S
GOING IN THE OVEN.
MUM!

Mum says THAT LOOKS DELICIOUS, KAY.

Kay says THANK YOU.

The narrator says YES, AND ASK A GROWN-UP TO
POP IT IN THE OVEN FOR YOU.
NOW FOR THE BREAD ROLLS.

Kay says I'M GOING TO SCOOP SOME BREAD
OUT FROM THE MIDDLE.

The narrator says PULL OUT THE TOP OF EACH
BREAD ROLL IN SMALL PIECES,
JUST LIKE KAY'S DOING.

Kay says DILL PICKLES ARE CALLED
"OGÓRKI KONSERWOWE" IN POLISH.
I REALLY HOPE MY FRIENDS WILL
LIKE MY DILL PICKLE SOUP,
BECAUSE IT'S LOVELY.

The narrator says OHH, THE SOUP'S READY.

Mum says OHH, THAT LOOKS READY.

Kay says PLEASE CAN YOU PUT IT IN THE
BOWL FOR ME?

The narrator says ASK A GROWN-UP TO PUT THE
BREAD PIECES INTO THE HOT SOUP
AND MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT.
GO ON, MUM.
THEN ASK THEM TO POP IT BACK IN
THE OVEN WITH THE BREAD ROLLS.
THEY'LL GO LOVELY AND CRISPY
WHILE THE SOUP FINISHES
COOKING.
IF YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE
KAY'S POLISH DILL PICKLE SOUP
AT HOME, CAREFULLY TOP AND TAIL
SPRING ONIONS.
CUT THEM INTO SMALL CHUNKS AND
PUT INTO A CASSEROLE DISH.
ASK A GROWN-UP TO COOK AND COOL
NEW POTATOES FOR YOU, THEN CUT
THEM INTO CHUNKS.
ADD TO THE SPRING ONIONS, THEN
SPOON STOCK POWDER INTO WARM
WATER.
STIR, POUR INTO THE CASSEROLE
DISH AND STIR AGAIN.
SNAP THE CARROTS AND GRATE
THEM.
DRY YOUR DILL PICKLES WITH
KITCHEN PAPER, CAREFULLY CUT A
FEW SLICES FROM ONE OF THEM AND
SAVE FOR LATER.
GRATE THE REST OF THE DILL
PICKLE AND POP IT INTO YOUR
CASSEROLE DISH ALONG WITH THE
GRATED CARROT.
GIVE IT A MIX, PUT THE LID ON
AND ASK A GROWN-UP TO POP IT IN
THE OVEN FOR YOU.
WHILE THE SOUP'S COOKING, PUT
BREAD ROLLS ONTO A BAKING TRAY
AND PULL OUT THE SOFT CENTRE OF
EACH ONE, THEN CRUMBLE INTO
SMALL PIECES.
ASK A GROWN-UP TO GET THE SOUP
FROM THE OVEN, ADD THE CRUMBLED
BREAD PIECES AND MIX IT, MIX
IT, MIX IT.
THEN ASK THEM TO PUT THE SOUP
BACK INTO THE OVEN ALONG WITH
THE BREAD ROLLS.
NOW THERE'S JUST ENOUGH TIME
FOR KAY TO GET THE TABLE READY
FOR HIS VERY SPECIAL POLISH
MEAL.

Kay decorates the table with colourful floral tablecloth.

Kay says HMM, THAT LOOKS VERY NICE.

(DOORBELL RINGING)

Kay says OH, THAT MUST BE MY FRIENDS.

The narrator says WOW, LOOK AT THAT.
KAY'S POLISH STYLE TABLE LOOKS
BRILLIANT.

Kay's friends say HI, KAY!

Kay says HI, COME IN.

The narrator says EVERYONE'S WASHED THEIR HANDS
AND THEY'RE READY TO EAT.

Evan says WOW!
KAY, THIS LOOKS AMAZING!
IT LOOKS REALLY NICE.

Harry says THE CLOTH LOOKS QUITE NICE.

Kay says THANK YOU.

Evan says I LIKE THAT DECORATION THERE.

The narrator says OH, YES, ME TOO!

Sophie says I LIKE THE PLANT AND THE
TABLECLOTH.

Kay says SO ARE YOU GUYS HUNGRY?

Kids say YES!

The narrator says AND HERE'S KAY'S MUM AND
SISTER MAYA WITH THE FOOD.
THE TASTY DILL PICKLE SOUP IS
SPOONED INTO THE ROLLS AND
FINISHED OFF WITH CREAM AND ONE
OF THE SLICES OF DILL PICKLE
THAT KAY CUT EARLIER.
WELL DONE, KAY, YOUR SOUP LOOKS
DELICIOUS.
IT'S BEEN SOAKED UP BY THE
BREAD ROLL AND THE CREAM WITH
THE PICKLE ON TOP, OH, WILL
MAKE IT EVEN TASTIER.

Sophie says IT SMELLS REALLY NICE.

Evan says I REALLY WANT TO EAT THIS
STRAIGHTAWAY, KAY.
IT LOOKS SO YUMMY.

Kay says OKAY, NOW WE SAY "SMACZNEGO."

The narrator says SMACZNEGO!
THAT'S POLISH FOR "ENJOY YOUR
MEAL."
EARLIER TODAY, NOT EVERYONE
LIKED THE TASTE OF DILL
PICKLES.
WILL THEY CHANGE THEIR
MIND WHEN THEY TRY KAY'S DILL
PICKLE SOUP?

Evan says THIS TASTES BETTER THAN MY
FAVOURITE MEAL, FISH AND CHIPS.

Kay says THANKS, EVAN.

Harry says THE FOOD TASTES DELICIOUS.

Sophie says THIS IS EVEN BETTER THAN MY
FAVOURITE SOUP.

The narrator says LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOING DOWN
WELL.

Kay says SO WHAT DO YOU THINK THE
SPECIAL INGREDIENT WAS?

Evan says PICKLE.

Sophie says UHH, CUCUMBER.

Harry says WAS IT CARROT?

Kay says THE SPECIAL INGREDIENT IS
CALLED DILL PICKLE.

The narrator says HAH, SOMEONE'S IMPRESSED!

Kay says SO DID YOU LIKE THE DILL
PICKLE WHEN IT WAS IN MY SOUP?

Evan says YEAH, IT WAS BETTER THAN I
EXPECTED IT TO BE.

Harry says I REALLY LIKED THE BREAD
AND CREAM.

Kay says THANK YOU, HARRY.

The narrator says WELL DONE, KAY, IT LOOKS LIKE
EVERYONE LIKES THE TASTE OF
DILL PICKLE NOW.

Kay says THANK YOU FOR COMING TO
MY WORLD KITCHEN.

Music plays as the end credits roll.
