Transcript: It's Time for Halloween
As a theme song plays, in animation, a little girl, JoJo walks along a street, holding hands with an elderly grey-haired woman, Gran Gran. A man walking a dog, waves before being pulled away by the dog. It starts to rain. JoJo and Gran Gran hold green umbrellas and wear raincoats. It is springtime and pink blossoms bloom on trees in a park. Butterflies fly in a sunny blue sky. JoJo does a cartwheel and rolls down a hill. Gran Gran rolls down after her. JoJo tosses autumn leaves in the air. A man builds a snowman on a sidewalk. Gran Gran and JoJo walk by in coats and scarves. It is warmer weather and JoJo takes Gran Gran’s hand. Gran Gran opens a front gate to JoJo’s home.

JoJo says, ONE LAST WHISKER.
Gran Gran says, OUR PARTY GUESTS WON'T KNOW WHICH BISCUIT TO CHOOSE. I LIKE YOUR FUNNY CAT, JOJO.
JoJo says, IT'S NOT A FUNNY CAT, GRAN GRAN, IT'S A SPOOKY CAT.
Gran Gran laughs and says, OH, OF COURSE! NOW, THERE'S JUST ONE THING MISSING.
JoJo looks around and says, UHH...
JoJo shrugs.
Gran Gran says, A PUMPKIN!
Jojo says, GRAN GRAN, WE DON'T HAVE ANY BISCUITS LEFT!
Six decorated cookies are on a cooling rack.
Gran Gran says, OH, WE'RE NOT MAKING PUMPKIN BISCUITS. WE'RE GOING TO JARED'S SHOP TO BUY A REAL PUMPKIN.
JoJo says, WHY, GRAN GRAN?
Gran Gran wiggles her fingers and says, TO MAKE A SPOOKY LANTERN!
JoJo says, OOH!
Gran Gran says, I MAKE ONE EVERY YEAR.
A boy in a blue shirt says, AT HALLOWEEN, WHAT YOU DO WITH YOUR PUMPKINS IS THAT YOU CARVE THEM INTO SILLY SHAPES AND PUT IT INSIDE OR OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE.
A girl in a red sweater says, AND ONCE I MADE PUMPKIN PIE OUT OF PUMPKIN.
A girl in yellow overalls says, PUMPKIN?
A girl with dark hair says, I'M GOING TO DRESS UP AS A BAT.
A boy in an orange shirt says, I'M GOING TO DRESS UP AS, LIKE, A ROBBER.
The girl with dark hair looks surprised.
A boy in a green striped shirt says, I DRESSED AS A SKELETON AND DID ROBOT DANCE. EVERYBODY WAS, LIKE, "WHOA, THIS KID IS GOOD AT ROBOT DANCING."
The boy in the green striped shirt moves like a robot.
JoJo says, HELLO, CYNTHIA!
Cynthia turns and says, OH, HELLO THERE, JOJO. HI, GRAN GRAN. WHERE ARE YOU TWO OFF TO?
Gran Gran says, WE'RE GOING TO BUY A PUMPKIN FROM JARED'S SHOP.
JoJo says, TO MAKE A SPOOKY LANTERN FOR OUR HALLOWEEN PARTY.
Cynthia says, OH, YES. IT'S NOT A HALLOWEEN PARTY WITHOUT A SPOOKY LANTERN!
Cynthia holds two empty pots over her eyes.
(JoJo giggling)
JoJo says, WOULD YOU LIKE TO COME TO OUR HALLOWEEN PARTY, CYNTHIA? WE'RE WEARING COSTUMES.
(Cynthia gasping)
Cynthia says, I'D LOVE TO! THANK YOU, JOJO! NOW, I'VE GOT A COSTUME SOMEWHERE.
Gran Gran says, COME ON, THEN, JOJO. WE DON'T WANT TO MISS JARED'S
PUMPKINS. SEE YOU LATER, CYNTHIA.
JoJo says, BYE, CYNTHIA!
Cynthia waves and says, BYE! NOW, WHERE'S THAT COSTUME?
Jared stacks pumpkins outside his shop. JoJo and Gran Gran arrive.
JoJo says, JARED!
Jared says, HEY, JOJO!
JoJo and Jared slap hands and bump fists.
JoJo says, GRAN GRAN!
Gran Gran says, HELLO, JARED. CAN WE BUY ONE OF YOUR PUMPKINS, PLEASE?
JoJo says, WE'RE MAKING A SPOOKY LANTERN FOR OUR HALLOWEEN PARTY.
GRAN GRAN MAKES ONE EVERY YEAR.
Gran Gran says, WOULD YOU LIKE TO COME TO OUR PARTY, JARED?
Jared says, YOU KNOW I LOVE A PARTY!
Jared dances.
(Jared beatboxing)
Jared says, I'LL BE THERE.
(JoJo giggling)
Jared says, NOW, LET'S FIND YOU A PUMPKIN.
Jared asks, HOW ABOUT THIS ONE?
JoJo lifts Panda to her ear and says, HM. PANDA SAYS THAT PUMPKIN IS TOO SMALL.
(Jared chuckling)
Jared struggles to lift a large pumpkin.
(Jared grunting)
JoJo frowns and points at the pumpkin. She says, AND THAT PUMPKIN IS TOO BIG.
Jared says, TOO BIG.
Jared sets the pumpkin down.
(Jared sighing)
Jared says, OKAY, HOW ABOUT – THIS PUMPKIN?
JoJo nods and says, PANDA SAYS THAT PUMPKIN IS PERFECT.
Gran Gran says, THANKS, JARED. NOW, LET'S GO HOME AND START
MAKING OUR SPOOKY LANTERN.
Gran Gran takes JoJo’s hand.
(Music playing)
Gran Gran and JoJo sit at the kitchen table and draw a face on the pumpkin with black marker. They draw two eyes and a wide mouth.
(Both laughing)
Gran Gran lifts the top off the pumpkin. She scoops out the inside of the pumpkin.
JoJo says, OOH!
Gran Gran puts the inside of the pumpkin in a bowl. JoJo sticks her hands in the bowl. She puts some orange goop on Panda’s head.
(JoJo giggling)
Gran Gran uses a knife to cut the pumpkin’s eyes and mouth. JoJo pushes the pieces out. Gran Gran holds out an artificial tealight. JoJo turns it on and puts it in the carved pumpkin.
Gran Gran says, TA-DA!
JoJo says, IT LOOKS VERY SPOOKY, GRAN GRAN.
(Both laughing)
The pumpkin is displayed on a table in the backyard. Purple, orange and black bunting hangs on a fence and a spiderweb covers a bush.
Gran Gran says, JOJO, CAN YOU SEE THE OTHER BAG OF DECORATIONS ANYWHERE?
JoJo looks around and says, HM.
(JoJo gasping)
JoJo says, THEY'RE UNDER THE TABLE, GRAN GRAN. I'LL GET THEM.
JoJo crawls under the table. Her foot knocks against one of the table legs and the pumpkin falls and smashes on the ground.
(JoJo gasping)
JoJo says, OUR SPOOKY LANTERN! IT'S ALL SMASHED AND SMOOSHED.
Gran Gran says, OH, NO!
JoJo gets up and says, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO, GRAN GRAN?
Gran Gran says, HM.
A person in a blue cap walks a small dog. JoJo waves to the dog and says,
HELLO, MONTY.
(Barking)
Jared asks, HEY, JOJO, GRAN GRAN. HOW'S THE SPOOKY LANTERN LOOKING?
Gran Gran says, NOT SO SPOOKY.
JoJo says, IT'S ALL SMASHED AND SMOOSHED. CAN WE BUY A NEW PUMPKIN, PLEASE, JARED?
Jared says, OH, MAN. I'M SORRY, JOJO. I DON'T HAVE ANY PUMPKINS LEFT.
JoJo asks, NOT EVEN A SMALL ONE!?
Jared replies, NOT EVEN A SMALL ONE.
JoJo looks at Gran Gran and says, BUT YOU MAKE A SPOOKY LANTERN EVERY YEAR, GRAN GRAN, AND YOU SAID IT'S NOT A HALLOWEEN PARTY WITHOUT A SPOOKY LANTERN.
Gran Gran looks from the empty bin to a crate of vegetables. She says,
HM. JOJO, I THINK IT'S TIME FOR A GRAN GRAN PLAN!
Peppers, a butternut squash and a turnip are on the kitchen table.
Gran Gran says, WE DON'T NEED A PUMPKIN TO MAKE A SPOOKY LANTERN.
(Music playing)
Gran Gran draws on the squash with the marker. JoJo draws on the turnip. She draws a face that looks like Panda’s. Gran Gran cuts the top off the squash and JoJo scoops out the insides. Gran Gran cuts out a face on the squash. She and JoJo pick up artificial tealights. JoJo drops one into the hollowed out turnip.
The carved vegetables have Jack-o’-lantern faces.
(Gran Gran sighing)
The vegetables are displayed on the table in the backyard.
JoJo wears a batwing cape. She says, AH!
(Gran Gran chuckling)
Gran Gran says, THAT'S THE FUNNIEST BAT I'VE EVER SEEN, JOJO.
JoJo says, I'M NOT A FUNNY BAT, GRAN GRAN. I'M A SPOOKY BAT!
Gran Gran says, OH, OF COURSE!
Jared says, OOH!
Jared staggers in as a zombie.
JoJo says, JARED!
Jared says in a spooky voice, HEY, JOJO!
JoJo gestures at the table and says, LOOK AT THE VEGETABLES.
Jared says, OOH!
(Jared laughing)
Jared says, VERY SPOOKY, JOJO.
Panda sits next to the vegetables.
Cynthia says, OOH! AND LOOK AT THESE BISCUITS. I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE.
Cynthia chooses a cat cookie.
(Both making spooky sounds and laughing)
Gran Gran says, COME ON, EVERYONE! EVERYBODY SAY, "SPOOKY LANTERN!"
Everyone says, SPOOKY LANTERN!
Gran Gran takes a picture with her tablet.
A tree is decorated with leaves and twinkling lights.
A man says, ALRIGHT, GUYS, LET'S FINISH OFF THESE PUMPKINS.
A girl says, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A
HALLOWEEN PARTY FOR OUR
FRIENDS.
A boy says, HALLOWEEN HAPPENS ONCE
A YEAR.
The girl says, WE'RE SCOOPING OUT THE
PUMPKINS FOR OUR PARTY.
WE'RE NEARLY AT THE END OF THE
PUMPKIN.
The man says, MAKE SOME SPACE.
THAT'S IT.
The boy says, I CAN SEE THE INSIDE OF IT.
IT'S LIKE A WINDOW.
The girl says, I LOVE THE SMILEY FACE IN MY
PUMPKIN.
The boys puts his pumpkin on a hay bale. A star shape is cut out of the pumpkin. The girl sets down a smiling Jack-o’-lantern.
The man says, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
(Giggling)
The girl says, WE NEED TO PUT UP THE
DECORATIONS BEFORE EVERYBODY
ARRIVES.
The boy says, IT'S TIME TO PUT OUT
THE SNACKS.
The girl puts a bowl of food on a table.
(Knocking)
The girl says, OUR FRIENDS ARE HERE!
The man says, HI, EVERYBODY.
COME ON IN!
A child says, THANK YOU.
Another child says, THANK YOU.
The boy and girl say, HI, EVERYONE!
WELCOME TO OUR PARTY!
The children say, HELLO!
The man says, WOW, LOOK AT ALL OF THIS.
A child says, IT'S PARTY TIME!
A girl dressed as a cat says, I'LL GET A CUCUMBER.
The man says, CUCUMBER.
A child says, I LOVE (UNCLEAR).
(Kids cross talking)

(Both making spooky sounds and laughing)
Gran Gran says, COME ON, EVERYONE! EVERYBODY SAY, "SPOOKY LANTERN!"
Everyone says, SPOOKY LANTERN!
Gran Gran takes a picture with her tablet.
A tree is decorated with leaves and twinkling lights.
A man says, ALRIGHT, GUYS, LET'S FINISH OFF THESE PUMPKINS.
A girl says, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A
HALLOWEEN PARTY FOR OUR
FRIENDS.
A boy says, HALLOWEEN HAPPENS ONCE
A YEAR.
The girl says, WE'RE SCOOPING OUT THE
PUMPKINS FOR OUR PARTY.
WE'RE NEARLY AT THE END OF THE
PUMPKIN.
The man says, MAKE SOME SPACE.
THAT'S IT.
The boy says, I CAN SEE THE INSIDE OF IT.
IT'S LIKE A WINDOW.
The girl says, I LOVE THE SMILEY FACE IN MY
PUMPKIN.
The boys puts his pumpkin on a hay bale. A star shape is cut out of the pumpkin. The girl sets down a smiling Jack-o’-lantern.
The man says, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
(Giggling)
The girl says, WE NEED TO PUT UP THE
DECORATIONS BEFORE EVERYBODY
ARRIVES.
The boy says, IT'S TIME TO PUT OUT
THE SNACKS.
The girl puts a bowl of food on a table.
(Knocking)
The girl says, OUR FRIENDS ARE HERE!
The man says, HI, EVERYBODY.
COME ON IN!
A child says, THANK YOU.
Another child says, THANK YOU.
The boy and girl say, HI, EVERYONE!
WELCOME TO OUR PARTY!
The children say, HELLO!
The man says, WOW, LOOK AT ALL OF THIS.
A child says, IT'S PARTY TIME!
A girl dressed as a cat says, I'LL GET A CUCUMBER.
The man says, CUCUMBER.
A child says, I LOVE (UNCLEAR).
(Kids cross talking)
(All laughing)
The children stand around a table with an orange tablecloth and eat snacks.
The boy asks, WHO WANTS TO PLAY SOME
GAMES?
(Cheering)
The man says, WE'RE GOING TO PLAY PIN THE
TAIL ON THE CAT.
He points at the girl dressed as a cat.
He says, NOT THIS CAT, BUT THIS ONE.
(All laughing)
(Laughing)
A boy says, IT'S FUN PLAYING PIN THE
TAIL ON THE CAT.
(Kids laughing)
The man says, NOT BAD.
SHOULD WE PUT SOME MUSIC ON AND
DANCE?
(Kids cheering)

The children dance in a back garden. One boy is dressed as a robot. A girl is dressed as a crescent moon and a boy is dressed as a pumpkin.
The boy says, EVERYONE LOVES DANCING.
(Laughing)
The man does a robot dance. The girl dressed as the moon wears a starry dress and waves her hands. The girl hosting the party is dressed as a spider.
The girl says, WE LOVED OUR
HALLOWEEN PARTY.
Back at Gran Gran’s house, JoJo says, WE REALLY ENJOYED OUR
HALLOWEEN PARTY, DIDN'T WE,
PANDA?
Gran Gran says, I THINK WE SHOULD
MAKE SPOOKY LANTERNS OUT OF
VEGETABLES EVERY YEAR.
JoJo says, I LOVE YOU, GRAN GRAN.
Gran Gran says, AW, I LOVE YOU, TOO, JOJO.
(Theme music plays)
As the end credits roll, JoJo and Gran Gran walk through town and play in the park as the seasons change.
