INSTEAD OF WORRYING
ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE,
OR WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN LATER.
Akin gets up from the desk and walks through a room.
He says, I FIND THAT PRACTICING
MINDFULNESS, EVERYDAY,
HELPS ME MANAGE MY FEELINGS.
SO I THOUGHT THAT YOU
COULD TRY IT, TOO.
I CHALLENGE YOU TO THE
MINDFULNESS COUNTDOWN.
Akin stops by a poster with a chart that include the numbers 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 with a drawing of an eye, a hand, an ear, a nose and a mouth. Under the numbers 5, 4, 3 and 2 are their matching numbers of stickers.
Akin says, ONCE A DAY, TRY TO NOTICING FIVE
THINGS WITH YOUR EYES,
TOUCH FOUR THINGS
WITH YOUR HANDS,
HEAR THREE THINGS
WITH YOUR EARS,
SMELL TWO THINGS
WITH YOUR NOSE,
AND TASTE ONE THING
WITH YOUR MOUTH.
YOU CAN EVEN MAKE A FUN
CHART LIKE I DID,
AND USE STICKERS TO KEEP TRACK
OF WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
Akin adds a panda sticker under the number 1.
