A colourful, animated slate with butterflies and suns, reads "Tin can planters!"
Laura says HEY, TVOKIDS, LET'S MAKE SOME TIN CAN PLANTERS. FOR THIS CRAFT, YOU'LL NEED, YOU GUESSED IT, TIN CANS. FOR THIS FIRST STEP, YOU'LL NEED YOUR PARENT OR GUARDIAN'S HELP.
As she speaks, seen from above, her hands peform the tasks she mentions.
She says GRAB A HAMMER AND NAIL AND LIGHTLY HAMMER A FEW HOLES INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE CAN. THIS WILL ENSURE THAT YOUR PLANT GETS PROPER DRAINAGE. IF A PLANT HAS TOO MUCH WATER IN THE BOTTOM OF A POT, IT CAN CAUSE ROT AND DAMAGE YOUR PLANT'S SENSITIVE ROOTS. THESE HOLES WILL MAKE SURE ANY EXCESS WATER THAT THE PLANT DOESN'T DRINK WILL SEEP OUT THE BOTTOM. NOW IT'S TIME TO PAINT. YOU MIGHT NEED TO DO A COUPLE COATS TO FULLY COVER THE CAN. THEN ADD SOME FUN DESIGNS.
She paints a can blue, then adds touches of purple and white.
She says I'M DOING SOME CLOUDS AND RAINBOWS.
She adds rainbows, then says YOU CAN ALSO PAINT THE DESIGNS STRAIGHT ONTO THE CAN. IT LOOKS COOL TOO. WHEN YOU'RE ALL DONE LEAVE THEM TO DRY. NOW LET'S GET PLANTING. FIRST ADD A BIT OF SOIL TO THE BOTTOM OF THE CAN. NEXT, LIGHTLY LOOSEN UP THE ROOTS OF YOUR PLANT AND PLACE IT IN. ADD SOME SOIL TO THE TOP AND GENTLY PAT DOWN.
Four colourful tin planters sit on a shelf. They contain green plants, one of which has pink flowers.
Laura says THERE YOU HAVE IT, YOUR VERY OWN TIN CAN GARDEN. I LOVE HOW THESE TURNED OUT. THE BRIGHT COLOURS LOOK AWESOME WITH THE PLANTS. I CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH THEM GROW. THIS IS A REALLY FUN CRAFT THAT YOU CAN DO OUTSIDE. TRY IT OUT YOURSELF AT HOME. DON'T FORGET TO GIVE YOUR PLANTS A DRINK OF WATER. SEE YOU LATER, TVOKIDS.
She waters the planters using a small watering can.
