The text “Feel Good Faves” appears in colourful writing over a wooden backdrop.
Matt says,
HEY TVO KIDS, FOR THE
FEEL GOOD FAVES,
WE'RE MAKING DONUTS.
LET'S GET OUR INGREDIENTS.
WE'RE GOING TO NEED…
Text reads, “576 grams all purpose flour, 295 ml. of milk, 110 grams of butter, 50 grams of white sugar, 2 eggs, 7 grams of active dry yeast, 6 grams of salt.”
The active dry yeast is poured into a measuring cup filled with the milk.
Matt states,
FIRST, WE'RE GOING TO WARM THE
MILK IN A MICROWAVE
AND POUR IN THE YEAST.
YEAST IS WHAT MAKES
THE DOUGH RISE.
WATCH WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ADD
IT TO THE LIQUID.
MM. CHECK OUT THOSE BUBBLES.
The yeast and milk are added to a metal bowl filled with flour, butter, sugar, eggs, and salt.
Matt says,
WHEN THE YEAST LOOKS
ALL BUBBLY,
COMBINE IT WITH THE OTHER
INGREDIENTS AND STIR.
MIX IT UP REALLY WELL,
THEN TRANSFER IT
TO A FLAT SURFACE
AND START KNEADING.
A wooden table is lightly dusted with flour. The dough ball is rolled around in the flour.
Matt continues,
ONCE EVERYTHING IS COMBINED,
PLACE YOUR DOUGH IN
A BOWL AND COVER IT.
WE'RE GOING TO LET IT REST AND
LET THE YEAST GET TO WORK.
THE YEAST IS FEEDING ON THE
SUGAR IN THE DOUGH MIXTURE
AND RELEASING CARBON DIOXIDE.
THIS PROCESS CAUSES
THE DOUGH TO RISE. WHOA!
LOOK HOW BIG IT'S GETTING!
WHEN THE DOUGH TOUCHES
THE TOP OF THE BOWL,
IT'S TIME TO ROLL IT OUT AND CUT
OUT THE DONUTS.
YOU CAN USE A
CIRCLE COOKIE CUTTER,
OR EVEN A GLASS FROM
YOUR CUPBOARD.
ANYTHING CIRCULAR WILL WORK.
ONCE YOUR DONUTS ARE CUT OUT
AND HAVE HAD TIME TO RISE,
PLACE THEM IN OVEN
FOR TWENTY MINUTES.
WHILE YOU'RE WAITING FOR YOUR
DONUTS TO BAKE,
PREPARE YOUR GLAZE BY MIXING
ICING SUGAR AND MILK TOGETHER.
NOW, LET'S GET DECORATING.
Text reads, “Time to decorate!”
Donuts lay on a piece of parchment paper on the table. Next to the donuts are a bowl of pink glaze and a bowl of colourful sprinkles.
Matt says,
DIP YOUR DONUTS ONE AT A TIME
INTO THE GLAZE,
AND COAT WITH SPRINKLES WHILE
IT'S STILL WET.
GET CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN.
WHEN ALL YOUR DONUTS ARE
DECORATED,
LET THEM SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES,
THEN SHARE THEM WITH YOUR
FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
THAT WAS A FEEL-GOOD THING.
SEE YOU!
