BAND PRACTICE.
Amy says, GREAT,
CAN WE STAY AND LISTEN?
[Drumsticks clatter]
Tom says, OF COURSE.
STAY AS LONG AS YOU LIKE.
HAVE A SNACK.
Tom whispers to Derek, I DON'T KNOW HOW!
PLAYING IN FRONT OF A BIG CROWD
IS A LOT EASIER
THAN PLAYING IN FRONT OF
AMY AND FLORENCE...
Amy and Florence sit on a large red beanbag.
Tom continues, NOT THAT WE VE EVER PLAYED
IN FRONT OF A BIG CROWD.
Norman taps his drumsticks and counts, AH, ONE, TWO, AH ONE,
TWO THREE...
Tom sings, DA-DA-DA-
Florence says, HANG ON.
WHAT IS A DOG ZOMBIE?
Tom says, ERR... GREAT QUESTION.
IT S TIME TO... DRAW IT!
Text reads “Draw-it.”
[Upbeat music plays]
A woman with long brown hair sits at a table. She wears a bright pink shirt. Paper, markers, pencils and pens stand in jars on the table in front of her.
Liz says, HI! I'M LIZ AND I WRITE
AND DRAW THE TOM GATES BOOKS.
AND THIS...
[Paper rustles]
Liz holds up a drawing of a spotted dog walking on its hind legs.
She continues, …IS A DOG ZOMBIE!
"DOG ZOMBIES" IS THE NAME
OF TOM'S BAND.
TOM'S IN THE BAND WITH HIS BEST
FRIENDS DEREK AND NORMAN.
I'M GOING TO DRAW MAYBE A FEW
DIFFERENT SIZED ZOMBIES
AND THERE COULD BE SOME DROOL.
Tom says, AMAZING!
[Upbeat music plays]
Liz says, LET'S GET DRAWING.
[Pen cap clicks off]
She says, I’M GOING TO USE
THIS BRUSH PEN.
YOU CAN USE WHATEVER YOU WANT
TO DRAW WITH.
AND I'M GOING TO
START OVER HERE.
DRAW A CIRCLE, AND I ALWAYS DRAW
ONE REALLY BIG EYE
AND A SMALLER ONE.
Liz draws a dog head.
[Pen scratches]
She says, AND SOME SCARS.
NOW THEY'RE KIND OF
HUNCHED OVER.
[Pen scratches]
Liz says, SO THAT'S ONE BIG DOG ZOMBIE.
OKAY. LET'S DO ANOTHER ONE.
LET'S DO A LITTLE ONE.
SO THEN, START WITH A CIRCLE.
DIFFERENT TYPES
OF EARS THIS TIME.
AND AGAIN, ONE BIG EYE
AND ONE LITTLE ONE.
[Pen scratches]
Liz says, ONE THING'S FOR SURE,
IF YOU'RE GOING TO DRAW A ZOMBIE
YOU'VE GOT TO DRAW A SCAR.
Tom says, GOOD TIP!
Liz says, OKAY.
LET'S DRAW ANOTHER ONE.
DRAW ANOTHER ONE
WITH A DIFFERENT SHAPED HEAD.
THIS ONE'S GOING TO HAVE
POINTY EARS,
AND SLIGHTLY
DIFFERENT SHAPED EYES.
AND JUST TO SHOW YOU,
YOU CAN TURN ANYTHING
INTO A DOG ZOMBIE.
LET'S TURN MARCUS INTO
A DOG ZOMBIE.
KIND OF CRAZY STARE.
MAYBE HIS HAIR SHOULD
BE A LITTLE BIT...
AND SCARS.
Liz draws a zombie version of Marcus.
[Pen scratches]
She says, HE'S GOT THE SAME KIND OF
ZOMBIE WALK.
[Pen scratches]
Liz says, SO THAT'S MARCUS.
ONE MORE THING TO DO.
I'M GOING TO TAKE A PENCIL NOW,
AND JUST DO
A LITTLE BIT OF SHADING
UNDERNEATH THE FEET.
THIS GIVES A BIT OF TEXTURE
AROUND THE EYES.
Liz shades under the feet and around the eyes of Marcus and the dogs.
She continues, THEN THERE'S ONE MORE THING
TO DO AFTERWARDS,
A REALLY IMPORTANT THING TO DO,
WE MUSTN'T FORGET THE DROOL.
[Clatter of pencil put down, cap clicks on pen]
Liz says, WE ALL NEED A BIT OF DROOL.
[Pen scratches]
Liz says, THREE DIFFERENT TYPES
OF DOG ZOMBIES
AND A MARCUS ZOMBIE JUST
FOR GOOD MEASURE.
Tom says, LOVE IT.
Liz says, I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU HOW
TO DRAW A DOG ZOMBIE LOGO
BECAUSE EVERY GOOD BAND
NEEDS A LOGO.
AND THIS IS IT.
WHAT I'M GOING TO DO IS KIND OF
LIKE BUBBLE WRITING.
Liz writes “Dog” in round letters.
She says, START WITH A D.
GOT TO HAVE A GOOD LOGO
THAT STANDS OUT.
[Pen scratches]
Liz says, THESE BRUSH PENS ARE REALLY GOOD
FOR DIFFERENT THICK
AND THIN LINES.
"DOG ZOMBIES" IS THE NAME OF
TOM'S BAND
AND TOM'S IN THE BAND WITH HIS
BEST FRIENDS, DEREK AND NORMAN.
NOW ALL IT'S MISSING
IS A DOG ZOMBIE.
[Pen scratches]
Liz draws a dog zombie at the top of the logo, beside the word “Dog.”
She says, DRAW THE EARS.
BIG STARING EYES.
PLACE HIS FOOT BALANCING
ON THE TOP.
BIT OF DROOL.
[Pen scratches]
Liz says, TAKE YOUR PEN AND DRAW
ALL THE WAY AROUND OUTSIDE.
THERE YOU GO, ALL DONE.
ONE DOG ZOMBIE LOGO
ALL READY FOR THE BAND.
[Marcus zombie groans]
Tom says, PLAY IT!
Text reads “Play-it.”
Amy says, LET’S PLAY
"GUESS THE INSTRUMENT".
Amy and Florence stand side-by-side.
Florence says, MATCH THE MYSTERY
NOISE TO THE PICTURE
TO WIN THE GAME.
Amy says, ROUND ONE.
[Squeaking]
Amy asks, IS IT A TRUMPET?
A HARP? OR A MONSTER SITTING ON A CAKE?
[Squeaking]
The monster bounces up and down on the cake.
[Playful music plays, ding]
Florence says, OF COURSE - IT WAS
A MONSTER SITTING ON A CAKE!
[Trumpet plays a low note]
Amy says, I HOPE YOU RE NOT THINKING
ABOUT EATING THAT.
Florence says, ROUND TWO.
[Whistling music plays]
Florence continues, IS IT A FLUTE?
A RECORDER?
OR A BUG ON SKIS?
[Playful music plays, ding]
Amy says, IT WAS A FLUTE!
The bug says, WHAAA!
[Crashing sound]
Florence says, OUCH. OKAY, LAST ONE.
[Creaking]
Amy asks, IS IT A WASHBOARD?
SOME MARACAS?
OR A SWAMP MONSTER ITCHING IT’S
BACK WITH A CHEESE GRATER?
[Creaking]
[Playful music plays, ding]
Florence says, IT WAS... A WASHBOARD!
WELL DONE IF YOU GUESSED
THAT ONE.
Amy says, I KNEW THAT.
[Laughter]
Florence says, NO, YOU DIDN’T.
Amy says, OKAY I DIDN’T.
The monster says, OH, ERM, OH ...
EXCUSE ME...
ANY CHANCE OF A BACK SCRATCH?
Florence says, NO, I DON'T THINK SO.
[Energetic music plays]
Tom says, RIGHT. EVERYBODY READY?
FINALLY. WE’VE GOT SOME
PEACE TO PRACTICE
AND IT’S GOING TO BE GREAT!
Norman hits his drumsticks together and counts, AH, ONE, TWO,
AH ONE, TWO THREE, FOUR....
Tom sings, DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-
A bug says, STOP, STOP, STOP,
STOP, STOP.
Tom asks, WHAT?
The bug holds up a sign that reads “The End.”
The bug says, THE END!
Tom says, OH, COME ON! SERIO-

DIFFERENT SHAPED EYES.
AND JUST TO SHOW YOU,
YOU CAN TURN ANYTHING
INTO A DOG ZOMBIE.
LET'S TURN MARCUS INTO
A DOG ZOMBIE.
KIND OF CRAZY STARE.
MAYBE HIS HAIR SHOULD
BE A LITTLE BIT...
AND SCARS.
Liz draws a zombie version of Marcus.
[Pen scratches]
She says, HE'S GOT THE SAME KIND OF
ZOMBIE WALK.
[Pen scratches]
Liz says, SO THAT'S MARCUS.
ONE MORE THING TO DO.
I'M GOING TO TAKE A PENCIL NOW,
AND JUST DO
A LITTLE BIT OF SHADING
UNDERNEATH THE FEET.
THIS GIVES A BIT OF TEXTURE
AROUND THE EYES.
Liz shades under the feet and around the eyes of Marcus and the dogs.
She continues, THEN THERE'S ONE MORE THING
TO DO AFTERWARDS,
A REALLY IMPORTANT THING TO DO,
WE MUSTN'T FORGET THE DROOL.
[Clatter of pencil put down, cap clicks on pen]
Liz says, WE ALL NEED A BIT OF DROOL.
[Pen scratches]
Liz says, THREE DIFFERENT TYPES
OF DOG ZOMBIES
AND A MARCUS ZOMBIE JUST
FOR GOOD MEASURE.
Tom says, LOVE IT.
Liz says, I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU HOW
TO DRAW A DOG ZOMBIE LOGO
BECAUSE EVERY GOOD BAND
NEEDS A LOGO.
AND THIS IS IT.
WHAT I'M GOING TO DO IS KIND OF
LIKE BUBBLE WRITING.
Liz writes “Dog” in round letters.
She says, START WITH A D.
GOT TO HAVE A GOOD LOGO
THAT STANDS OUT.
[Pen scratches]
Liz says, THESE BRUSH PENS ARE REALLY GOOD
FOR DIFFERENT THICK
AND THIN LINES.
"DOG ZOMBIES" IS THE NAME OF
TOM'S BAND
AND TOM'S IN THE BAND WITH HIS
BEST FRIENDS, DEREK AND NORMAN.
NOW ALL IT'S MISSING
IS A DOG ZOMBIE.
[Pen scratches]
Liz draws a dog zombie at the top of the logo, beside the word “Dog.”
She says, DRAW THE EARS.
BIG STARING EYES.
PLACE HIS FOOT BALANCING
ON THE TOP.
BIT OF DROOL.
[Pen scratches]
Liz says, TAKE YOUR PEN AND DRAW
ALL THE WAY AROUND OUTSIDE.
THERE YOU GO, ALL DONE.
ONE DOG ZOMBIE LOGO
ALL READY FOR THE BAND.
[Marcus zombie groans]
Tom says, PLAY IT!
Text reads “Play-it.”
Amy says, LET’S PLAY
"GUESS THE INSTRUMENT".
Amy and Florence stand side-by-side.
Florence says, MATCH THE MYSTERY
NOISE TO THE PICTURE
TO WIN THE GAME.
Amy says, ROUND ONE.
[Squeaking]
Amy asks, IS IT A TRUMPET?
A HARP? OR A MONSTER SITTING ON A CAKE?
[Squeaking]
The monster bounces up and down on the cake.
[Playful music plays, ding]
Florence says, OF COURSE - IT WAS
A MONSTER SITTING ON A CAKE!
[Trumpet plays a low note]
Amy says, I HOPE YOU RE NOT THINKING
ABOUT EATING THAT.
Florence says, ROUND TWO.
[Whistling music plays]
Florence continues, IS IT A FLUTE?
A RECORDER?
OR A BUG ON SKIS?
[Playful music plays, ding]
Amy says, IT WAS A FLUTE!
The bug says, WHAAA!
[Crashing sound]
Florence says, OUCH. OKAY, LAST ONE.
[Creaking]
Amy asks, IS IT A WASHBOARD?
SOME MARACAS?
OR A SWAMP MONSTER ITCHING IT’S
BACK WITH A CHEESE GRATER?
[Creaking]
[Playful music plays, ding]
Florence says, IT WAS... A WASHBOARD!
WELL DONE IF YOU GUESSED
THAT ONE.
Amy says, I KNEW THAT.
[Laughter]
Florence says, NO, YOU DIDN’T.
Amy says, OKAY I DIDN’T.
The monster says, OH, ERM, OH ...
EXCUSE ME...
ANY CHANCE OF A BACK SCRATCH?
Florence says, NO, I DON'T THINK SO.
[Energetic music plays]
Tom says, RIGHT. EVERYBODY READY?
FINALLY. WE’VE GOT SOME
PEACE TO PRACTICE
AND IT’S GOING TO BE GREAT!
Norman hits his drumsticks together and counts, AH, ONE, TWO,
AH ONE, TWO THREE, FOUR....
Tom sings, DA-DA-DA-DA-DA-
A bug says, STOP, STOP, STOP,
STOP, STOP.
Tom asks, WHAT?
The bug holds up a sign that reads “The End.”
The bug says, THE END!
Tom says, OH, COME ON! SERIO-
