Dad says, YOU'LL BE FINE. JUST TRY AND TAKE IT EASY.
Isla says, ZUCCHINI SOUP.
Singing, I HOLD THE MEMORY OF A SONG I ALWAYS KEEP AND I'M DRIVING DOWN

Louis says, WE COULD MAKE IT MOVE LIKE THE STAIRS AT MY DAD'S HOUSE.
Max asks, YOUR DAD PLAYS?

Jasper says, HEY LOUIS, HEY, MAX.
Max and Louis say, HEY, JASPER.
Max says, WHAT ABOUT BUILDING MORE MOVING STAIRS?

Louis looks up and says, I HAVE ACHONDROPLASIA, A TYPE OF DWARFISM. IT'S WHERE MY ARMS AND LEGS GROW SHORTER. AND I'M NOT AS TALL AS OTHER PEOPLE. BUT YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT. BUT DID YOU KNOW, IF I WAS BORN 4,000 YEARS AGO, THE EGYPTIANS WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF ME AS A GOD? AND THEN SOMETHING CHANGED. PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WERE TREATED LIKE THEY WEREN'T EVEN HUMAN. HOUSES, SCHOOLS, AND JOBS WEREN'T BUILT TO INCLUDE THEM. THEY WERE LEFT OUT OF SOCIETY. IMAGINE WHAT THAT WOULD BE LIKE. OUR WORLD IS PRETTY DIFFERENT NOW, I CAN ACCESS MY SCHOOL AND MY HOME. WHILE IT'S STILL NOT EQUAL, BUT I HOPE IT IS SOON.

Louis asks, DID YOU LOSE THE BALL?
The brown-haired girl says, WELL, LACHIE DID.
Jasper says, WHY DON'T YOU CLIMB UP THAT TREE OVER THERE?
Max says, THE ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE AN UPSIDE DOWN EGGPLANT?
Jasper says, YEAH, AROUND THE BACK THERE'S A BRANCH THAT HANGS OVER. IT'S A PRETTY EASY DROP FROM THERE ONTO THE SHED, AND THEN A SMALL STEP DOWN.
Lachie says, I DON'T KNOW, THERE'S A DOG OVER THERE. MAX, YOU LIKE DOGS.
Max says, NO I DON'T.
Lachie says, I THOUGHT YOU HAD GREYHOUNDS. WHAT ABOUT THAT DOGS THAT ARE ALWAYS CHASING YOU AT THE PARK?
Max says, THOSE AREN'T MY DOGS.

(Kids shouting, laughing)
Children play outside. Louis walks toward the gate, with his backpack wheeling along behind him. Louis waves his hand and the gate opens.
The cubby shelves lower and Louis puts his backpack in one.
Louis says, HI, MAX.
Max says, HEY, LOUIS! HOW ARE YOU GOING?
Louis says, EXCELLENT, AND STUFF WORKS.
Max says, THAT'S GOOD.
Students sit on the floor in the classroom.
The teacher says, HELLO, EVERYONE.
The students say, HELLO.
The teacher says, I HOPE YOU ALL GOT A GOOD REST LAST NIGHT. WE'RE GOING TO FINISH OUR PRESENTATIONS TODAY. ANY VOLUNTEERS?
Louis raises his hand.
The teacher says, LOUIS, WHY DON'T YOU START? AND JASPER AND SARAH, COULD YOU LOWER THE BLINDS FOR ME, PLEASE?
Louis goes to the front of the room. A screen behind him shows a picture of the Sphinx.
Louis reads from a notebook, MARGINALIZATION IS NOT ALLOWING A GROUP OF PEOPLE AN ACTIVE VOICE, IDENTITY, OR PLACE IN SOCIETY.
Louis turns to the screen.
Louis says, AND THIS IS A CAT DRESSED AS A DONUT.
(Applauding, cheering)
(Music playing)
Children play outside. Three children work on a garden. Children kick a soccer ball. Jasper, Louis and Max eat lunch outside.
Louis asks, DO YOU EVER GET CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT'S REAL?
Jasper says, ALL THE TIME.
Louis says, LAST NIGHT I HAD THE STRANGEST DREAM. NOTHING WAS WORKING, THE STAIRS, MY CLOTHES, THE FLOOR. MY BODY HURT. I COULDN'T REACH THINGS. IT FELT REAL.
Max asks, AND THEN SOMETHING CHANGED?
Louis says, YEAH, I WOKE UP.
Jasper asks, ANYONE WANT SOME POLENTA?
The soccer ball goes over the fence.
(Thudding, dog barking)
The brown-haired boy says, I'M NOT GOING OVER THE FENCE AGAIN!
The red-haired girl says, BUT YOU KICKED IT.
The brown-haired boy says, IT WENT OFF YOUR LEG.
The red-haired girl says, HEY, LOUIS? WILL YOU DO IT?
Louis says, YEAH, I'LL DO IT.
Louis smiles.
