[Chimes]
Tom says, HI, I'M TOM GATES.
A FRESH FRUIT BOWL IS USUALLY
A SIGN THAT MUM'S BEEN SHOPPING.
DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LIKE FRUIT.
[Giggling, slide whistles]
Tom says, WELL... SOME FRUIT.
A piece of fruit says, AWW!
[Popping, slide whistles]
Tom says, BUT IF MUM'S BEEN
SHOPPING, THAT MEANS SOMETHING
ELSE TOO... SNACKS!
MUM LIKES TO HIDE THE SNACKS
SO THEY DON'T GET EATEN
STRAIGHTAWAY, BUT I ALWAYS
KNOW WHERE TO FIND THEM.
HERE ARE MUM'S TOP FIVE
SNACK HIDING PLACES.
A purple arms holds up a sign with the number five.
Tom says, AT NUMBER FIVE, TOP OF
THE FRIDGE. MUM THINKS I CAN'T
SEE UP THERE.
[Tom strains]
Tom says, NOTHING.
Tom holds a spider.
[Pop]
The spider says, UH-HUH, HUH?
OOH... HA-HA-HA.
Green arms hold a sign with the number four.
Tom says, AT NUMBER FOUR,
IN THE SHOPPING BAG.
SOMETIMES, MUM SNEAKILY
LEAVES THE SNACKS IN THE BAGS
WHEN SHE HANGS THEM UP.
SHE THINKS NO-ONE WILL KNOW
THEY'RE IN THERE, BUT I KNOW.
[Popping]
Tom says, OH...
LET'S CHECK OUT NUMBER THREE –
Doodles of stars and circles surround a green number three.
[Popping]
Tom says, BEHIND THE TINS.
THIS ONE'S AN OLD FAVOURITE.
NOPE.
[Slide whistles, popping]
A bug says, OOH!
Tom says, THIS IS GETTING SERIOUS.
LOOKS LIKE TODAY, MUM HAS USED
ONE OF HER TOP TWO HIDING PLACES.
Green arms hold up a sign with an orange number two.
[Pop]
Tom says, AT NUMBER TWO,
INSIDE THE BISCUIT TIN.
NORMALLY, A BISCUIT TIN
WOULD BE THE FIRST PLACE
YOU'D LOOK FOR TREATS,
BUT THIS TIN HAD GRANNY MAVIS'S
CABBAGE BROWNIES IN.
WELL, THE BROWNIES ARE STILL
THERE, BUT NO SNACKS.
NO PROPER ONES, ANYWAY.
[Slide whistles, popping, chime]
Blue, orange, black, red, and yellow arrows point to a green number one.
Tom says, OK, IT LOOKS LIKE MUM'S
REALLY GONE FOR IT TODAY.
IT'S TIME FOR NUMBER ONE
IN THE TOP FIVE COUNTDOWN
OF MUM'S SNACK HIDING PLACES -
INSIDE THE CEREAL BOX.
THESE MAY SEEM LIKE A ROW
OF INNOCENT CEREAL BOXES,
BUT WHEN YOU OPEN THEM,
YOU FIND...
OH! A BAG OF CEREAL.
[Rustling]
Tom says, OH, NO! THERE'S JUST
CEREAL IN HERE.
[Suspenseful music plays]
Tom asks, OR IS THERE?!
Tom says, HERE'S MUM'S TRICK:
IT'S UNDERNEATH THE BAG
OF CEREAL.
TA-DA! HUH?!
[Popping, gasp, rustling]
Delia watches Tom search through cereal boxes.
She says, OH, DEAR.
WHAT'S HE GONNA DO NOW?
I DON'T UNDERSTAND.
[Gasp, dramatic music plays]
Tom says, MUM MUST'VE FOUND
A NEW HIDING PLACE!
NOW, WHILST I LOOK
FOR MUM'S NEW HIDING PLACE,
YOU GUYS SHOULD PROBABLY
CHECK OUT...DRAW IT.
Text reads, “Draw it.”
[Upbeat music plays]
Liz wears her auburn hair loose. She wears a short-sleved yellow blouse.
Liz says, HI. I'M GONNA SHOW
YOU HOW TO DRAW SOME BUGS
EATING A SNACK.
Tom says, IT'S LIZ!
SHE WRITES AND DRAWS
ALL THE TOM GATES BOOKS.
Liz says, FOR THIS ONE,
WHAT YOU NEED IS A PENCIL,
PENS FOR COLOURING IN,
SOME GLUE AND SOME SCISSORS.
BE CAREFUL WITH SCISSORS.
AND YOU'RE GONNA NEED COLOURED
PAPER AND SOME FOIL.
Tom says, GOT IT. THANKS, LIZ!
Tom says, SO, I'M GOING TO CUT
OUT A SHAPE A BIT LIKE A PACKET
OF CRISPS.
JUST ROUGH OUT YOUR SHAPE
FIRST OF ALL.
[Creaking]
Liz says, WHEN YOU'VE DONE
THAT, CUT OUT THE SHAPE.
[Scissors snip]
Liz says, CUT AWAY FROM YOU.
TAKE SOME YELLOW PAPER AND
DRAW A SHAPE IN THE MIDDLE.
SO YOU JUST WANT THAT TO BE
SLIGHTLY SMALLER THAN THE
BAG OF CRISPS.
DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT.
DON'T WORRY ABOUT THAT.
EVEN THAT UP. THERE YOU GO.
SO THAT'S YOUR CRISP PACKET.
Tom says, OH, I SEE!
Liz says, SO, PUT THE FOIL DOWN.
YOU CAN USE A PENCIL. I'M GONNA
ROUGH OUT A STAR SHAPE.
[Scratching]
Liz says, SO YOU DO A TRIANGLE
AT THE TOP, TRIANGLE AT THE SIDE
AND TWO TRIANGLES AT THE BOTTOM.
[Pop, crinkling]
Liz says, SO, CUT OUT YOUR STAR SHAPE.
IT'S QUITE TRICKY TO CUT FOIL.
LET'S JUST SEE IF IT FITS ON.
Tom says, GREAT STUFF!
[Rustling, creaking, crackling, upbeat music plays]
Liz says, TAKE YOUR CRISP PACKET,
PUT IT ON THE FOIL AND JUST
TRACE ROUND THE CARD.
AND DO THE SAME FOR THE
OTHER SIDE.
I'M JUST GONNA CUT THE FOIL.
MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE
OR RECYCLE ANY OF THE
LEFTOVER TINFOIL.
[Creaking]
Tom says, GOOD TIP!
Liz says, GLUE ONE SIDE
AND STICK IT TO THE PAPER.
AND TAKE ALL THE OTHER PIECES,
ADD SOME GLUE, STICK IT DOWN.
FOIL CAN BE TRICKY, SO JUST PUT
A LITTLE DAB OF GLUE LIKE THAT.
AND THEN I'M JUST GONNA DO
STRAIGHT ONTO THE PAPER.
AND THE SAME FOR THE BOTTOM.
ONE AT THE BOTTOM. THAT ONE
AT THE TOP.
SO, LOOKS LIKE A PACKET OF
CRISPS NOW.
Tom says, HOW ABOUT THAT?!
Tom says, AND IF YOU TAKE YOUR
PENCIL AFTERWARDS, PRESS INTO
THE FOIL, YOU SEE IT'S MAKING
THOSE LINES LIKE A CRISP PACKET.
AND THE SAME AT THE BOTTOM.
AND JUST GO OVER THE STAR.
SO, ALL WE'RE MISSING NOW IS
SOME BUGS AND MAYBE A FEW
SNACKS AS WELL.
Tom says, WOW, NOW I AM EXCITED!
Liz says, I'VE DONE THE CRISP PACKET
AT A SLIGHT ANGLE. THAT'S BECAUSE
ALL THE CRISPS ARE FALLING OUT.
I'M LEAVING A LITTLE WHITE SPACE
THERE JUST TO MAKE IT LOOK MORE
LIKE A CHEESE PUFF.
AND THEY'RE FALLING OUT
OF THE PACKET.
AND I'M GONNA LEAVE A LITTLE
SPACE TO DRAW A BUG.
SO, LET'S DRAW IN THE BUG NOW.
SO, THIS BUG IS MUNCHING ON A
CHEESE PUFF WITH ANOTHER CHEESE
PUFF ON ITS HEAD.
Tom says, AWESOME!
[Creaking]
Liz says, LET'S DRAW ANOTHER BUG.
CHEESE PUFFS. RIGHT, LET'S COLOUR
THE BUGS IN.
I'M JUST GONNA OUTLINE THE CHEESE
PUFFS. TAKE A BLUE PEN AS WELL. YOU
CAN ACTUALLY ADD A BIT OF SHADING.
AND YOU CAN DO SOME DRAWING
ACTUALLY ON THE CRISP PACKET AS
WELL. MAKE IT LOOK LIKE IT'S A BIT
CRINKLY, LIKE A REAL PACKET OF CRISPS.
Tom says, WOW, THAT'S COOL!
Liz says, THERE YOU GO - THERE'S
YOUR VERY OWN PACKET OF CRISPS.
CHEESE PUFFS BEING EATEN
BY A LITTLE BUG.
[Popping]

ALL AROUND THE BIG CUPBOARD.
Bug one says, WAFERS... LOVELY!
Two bugs hold a package. On the top, text reads “Wafer.”
Tom says, SO YUMMY.
SEE HOW MANY WAFERS YOU CAN
SPOT BEFORE THE TIME IS UP.
AND DON'T GET DISTRACTED
BY THE CHEEKY BUGS!
[Popping]
Bug one says, HA-HA-HA!
Tom says, LET'S PLAY FIND THE WAFERS!
[Ticking]
Tom asks, DID YOU SPOT ANY YET?
Bug two says, YOO-HOO!
Tom says, OUT OF THE WAY, BUG!
OH, I'VE SEEN ONE!
Bug one says, DON'T GET DISTRACTED
BY ME. HA-HA!
Tom says, AND ANOTHER!
Bug two says, DON'T LOOK
AT THE TELEVISION.
HO-HO! HEE-HEE-HEE-HEE!
[Ticking]
Tom says, BETTER HURRY UP.
TIME'S NEARLY UP.
[Buzzer buzzes]
Tom says, THAT'S IT!
HOW MANY DID YOU SPOT?
Five wafer packages wiggle.
[Popping, slide whistles]
Bug one says, OM NOM NOM!
[Slide whistle]
Tom says, HEY, COME BACK
WITH MY WAFER!
Bug one says, RUN, QUICKLY! RUN!
Voices sing, WELCOME TO
MY BRILLIANT SHOW!
[Thud]
Text reads, “The Brilliant World of Tom Gates.”
Tom says, I'M HUNGRY.
Delia says, WHAT ABOUT A SATSUMA?
WANT ONE?
Tom says, YOU'RE NOT HELPING.
Delia says, I THINK I AM.
Tom says, MAYBE SHE DIDN'T GET
ANY SNACKS.
Delia says, OR MAYBE SHE DID, AND
YOU JUST HAVEN'T FOUND THEM.
[Tom gasps snapping fingers]
Tom snaps his fingers.
He says, THE GARDEN!
IT'S TIME FOR... THE WAFER GAME.
Text reads, “Wafer Game.”
[Squeaking, pop, slide whistle]
Tom asks, CAN YOU SPOT
THE EMPTY WAFER WRAPPER?
HERE WE GO.
KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED.
Three wafer packages switch positions with each other.
[Popping]
Tom says, WHOA... UH-OH!
WHICH ONE IS IT?
IF YOU LOOK CAREFULLY,
THERE ARE A COUPLE OF CLUES.
THERE'S A LITTLE DENT
ON THE ONE THAT ISN'T FULL
OF YUMMY CHOCOLATE,
AND A LITTLE CURL ON THE WRAPPER
WHERE I WRAPPED IT BACK UP.
HA-HA! DID YOU SPOT IT?
REWIND, PLEASE.
[Popping]
Tom says, HA-HA! SEE?!
[Popping]
Tom says, AND THE BEST THING IS...
NOM, NOM! ...YOU GET TO EAT THE
WAFER INSIDE. AWESOME!
Voices sing, WELCOME TO
MY BRILLIANT SHOW!
[Howling, groaning]
Tom says, I'M STILL LOOKING
FOR MUM'S NEW HIDING PLACE
FOR SNACKS.
I MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN
A LITTLE DESPERATE.
Tom stands by an open shed door. He looks at gardening tools, a bicycle, ball, cobx, hose and barbeque scattered across grass around him. Delia opens a door and looks at Tom.
Delia says, GETTING COLDER!
[Door closes]
Tom says, UGH!
[Stomach rumbles, chimes]
Tom says, OH, I'M SO HUNGRY!
Delia says, GO ON, HAVE A SATSUMA.
Tom says, FINE!
[Groans]
Tom picks up an orange.
[Exciting music plays, popping]
Lines flash around the edge of a wafer package in the fruit bowl.
[Gasp]
Tom exclaims, WHAT?!
Delia says, WOW, MY BROTHER,
THE GENIUS
[Upbeat music plays, popping]
Tom knocks the fruit out of the bowl. Arrows point to a green number one.
Tom says, NEW NUMBER ONE.
THE FRUIT BOWL - THE LAST PLACE
ANYONE WOULD LOOK FOR SNACKS.
WELL PLAYED, MUM.
Delia says, YOU MIGHT WANNA
EAT THAT QUICKLY.
Rita asks, WHAT'S HAPPENED
TO THE GARDEN?!
