Colourful text on a white background reads: a sky original

(Pencil scribbles)

A person draws with an animated pencil. The drawing bursts into colourful swirls and stars.

(Music playing)

Tom singing, MAKE IT, SING IT. DRAW IT, SAY IT, THIS HOW DOG ZOMBIES PLAY IT. DOODLE MONSTER, FURRY CREATURE, DRAW A PICTURE OF MY TEACHER.

Animated doodles of people appear and wave as they stand on a colourful background.

Children singing, I LIKE WAFERS, THEY’RE THE BEST!

Tom singing, MARCUS MELDREW’S NOT IMPRESSED. GRANNY’S CUSTARD’S VERY LUMPY. DELIA IS ALWAYS GRUMPY.

All singing, I’M TOM GATES, THAT’S MY NAME. SO JOIN IN, WITH MY FAVOURITE GAMES. GET READY, BECAUSE HERE WE GO. WELCOME TO MY BRILLIANT SHOW!

A title reads: The Brilliant World of Tom Gates. Created by Liz Pichon

Tom says, IN THIS BRILLIANT SHOW... MY MUM IS TOTALLY EMBARRASSING. DOODLE AROUND A TASTY TREAT. AND MAKE AN AWESOME POPCORN BOX.

Singing, WELCOME TO MY BRILLIANT SHOW!

Tom and Leroy are in Tom’s bedroom.

Tom says, WE'RE GOING TO THE CINEMA. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LOVE GOING TO THE CINEMA, BUT MY MUM IS TAKING US, AND THE LAST TIME THAT HAPPENED, IT DID NOT GO WELL.

In a flashback, Rita, Tom’s mum, stands at the concessions counter. Tom and Leroy stand in a line on the other side of the lobby.

Rita says, TWO SMALL POPCORNS, PLEASE. THANK YOU. TOM, DO YOU NEED TO WEE BEFORE WE GO IN? WE DON'T WANNA BE GETTING UP AND DOWN LIKE LAST TIME!

(Child giggling)

Rita says, OH, THANK YOU.

(Leroy laughs)

Tom groans, MUM!

Tom says, THEN SHE EMBARRASSED ME WITH THE SWEETS.

Tom sits in the theatre between Rita and Leroy. He tries to open a bag of candy.

A pirate voice says, LOWER THE ANCHORS! LOWER THE ANCHORS!

(Wrapper rustles)

Rita whispers, SHH! DON'T MAKE SO MUCH NOISE!

The pirate says, THEY DROPPED THE CANNONS. OH, NO...

(Rustling)

Tom pulls at the bag.

Rita says, JUST DO IT QUICKLY!

(Rustling)

Tom whispers, SORRY!

(Strains)

Tom pulls and the bag rips open, sending cany flying. Rita rolls her eyes.

In present day, Leroy stands beside Tom.

Leroy says, THAT WAS PRETTY FUNNY.

Tom says, AND SHE GOT EVEN MORE EMBARRASSING AFTER THAT!

In the flashback, Tom sits in the theatre and sips on a straw.

The pirate shouts, OH, NO! IT'S GREENBEARD!

(Tom slurps)

Tom says, AHHH!

(Swords clang)

Tom shifts in his seat. Rita glances over.

Rita says, HMM... DON'T TELL ME - YOU NEED A WEE.

Tom nods. Rita turns to a woman sitting next to her.

Rita says, SO SORRY, MY SON NEEDS A WEE.

Tom covers his face with his hands.

Present day Rita calls, TOM, LEROY! COME ON, YOU TWO. WE DON'T WANNA MISS THE START OF THE FILM!

(Tom sighs)

Leroy says, IT WILL BE FINE. YOU'VE THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING. JUST STICK TO THE PLAN.

Tom says, LEROY'S RIGHT - MUM WON'T BE EMBARRASSING IF WE STICK TO THE PLAN. GO TO THE TOILET BEFORE THE FILM STARTS.

(Toilet flushes)

Tom narrates, SWEETS, OPEN PACKET - NO WRAPPERS, NOTHING NOISY.

(Popping)

Tom narrates, AND A NON-SLURPY DRINK. SO NOW MUM'S GOT NO REASON TO BE EMBARRASSING. WE'VE GOT EVERYTHING COVERED. NOW... RELAX.

Tom sits in the theatre with Leroy and Rita.

(Music playing)

Leroy says, TRAILERS!

Tom says, COOL! WHILE WE WATCH THE TRAILERS, YOU GUYS SHOULD WATCH... MAKE IT!

Text reads: Make it.

(Music playing)

Popcorn is in three colourful containers.

Tom narrates, MAKE WATCHING THE MOVIE AT HOME FEEL LIKE A TRIP TO THE CINEMA WITH YOUR VERY OWN TOM GATES POPCORN HOLDER.

Objects appear as Tom names them.

Tom continues, YOU WILL NEED... A LARGE SQUARE OF CARD OR THICK PAPER, SCISSORS...

A tiny monster shouts, BE CAREFUL WITH SCISSORS.

The tiny monster pops up holding a sign that reads: Be careful with scissors!

Tom continues, A PEN AND SOME POPCORN!

(Popcorn pops)

Popcorn appears in the middle of a tan piece of paper.

A striped bug walks over, carrying a glue stick.

A striped bug says, AND A GLUE STICK?

Tom says, NOT THIS TIME.

The striped bug says, OHHH! ALL RIGHT.

The bug drags the glue stick away.

(Squeaking)

Tom calls, SORRY!

A green monster holds up a timer.

(Ticking)

Tom asks, GOT ALL THAT? HERE WE GO! LET'S GET MAKING!

(Horn honking)

Tom narrates, RIGHT, GET READY FOR SOME SERIOUS FOLDING. TAKE YOUR SQUARE PAPER AND FOLD IT IN HALF, LIKE THIS. AND THEN IN HALF AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME, UNFOLD IT AGAIN AFTERWARDS. FOLD THIS BOTTOM CORNER UP TO THE CENTRE, LIKE THIS.

The paper is folded so one half looks like a triangle.

(Popping)

Tom continues, FLIP IT OVER. REPEAT ON THE OTHER SIDE. YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE A TRIANGLE, LIKE THIS, WITH A FOLDED CORNER ON THE FRONT AND BACK. CAREFULLY PULL OPEN YOUR TRIANGLE, LIKE THIS, THEN SQUASH THE SIDES TOGETHER. YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE A DIAMOND SHAPE, LIKE THIS. TAKE THE FRONT CORNER AND FOLD IT INTO THE CENTRE, LIKE THIS. DO THE SAME ON THE OTHER SIDE. FLIP IT OVER AND MATCH THE FOLDS ON THE OTHER SIDE. FOLD DOWN THE TOP SECTION OVER THE FOLDS. SO MUCH FOLDING! TURN THE RIGHT EDGE OVER, LIKE THIS, AND FOLD DOWN THE TOP AGAIN. FLIP OVER AND REPEAT. NOW IT'S TIME TO DECORATE!

(Popping)

A checkered border is drawn on the paper, along with a monster.

Tom narrates, TURN EACH EDGE OVER SO YOU CAN DOODLE ON EVERY SIDE. FOLD THE BOTTOM UP AND DOWN TO MAKE A CREASE FROM HERE TO HERE. WHEN YOU'VE GOT THAT ON EVERY SIDE, PUSH THE BOTTOM UPWARDS AND CAREFULLY PULL OUT YOUR HOLDER TO CREATE A SMALL BOX. LOOKING GOOD! NOW THE ONLY THING LEFT IS TO FILL IT UP WITH YUMMY POPCORN.

(Popping)

Popcorn fills the decorated box.

Tom narrates, POP, POP, POP, POP, POP! MAKE DIFFERENT SIZES FOR ALL YOUR SNACKS.

Two other boxes hold candy.

Tom says, DE-LICIOUS!

Singing, WELCOME TO MY BRILLIANT SHOW!

Tom narrates, IT'S TIME FOR... PLAY IT!

Text reads: Play it.

Tom narrates, A NOISY AUDIENCE IN THE CINEMA CAN BE REALLY ANNOYING, BUT CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THE NOISES ARE WITHOUT LOOKING? LET'S PLAY... WHAT IS THAT ANNOYING NOISE? NUMBER ONE. IS IT LEROY UNWRAPPING A SWEET, OR A MONSTER PICKING ITS FEET?

(Rustling)

Leroy unwraps a candy, while a monster sits on the ground and rubs its hairy legs.

Tom asks, WHAT DO YOU RECKON? I THINK I KNOW.

(Music playing)

Tom says, TIME’S UP!

(Ding)

Tom says, IT WAS... LEROY UNWRAPPING A SWEET!

(Rustling)

(Monster grunts and chuckles)

Tom says, DIS-GUSTING! DID YOU GET IT? OK, NUMBER TWO.

(Groaning)

Frank, Tom’s dad, sits in a chair and snores.

Tom asks, HAS MY DAD FALLEN ASLEEP?

Norman holds a zombie dog on their lap.

Tom asks, OR DID SOMEONE BRING A DOG ZOMBIE IN TO SEE THE MOVIE? WHAT DO YOU THINK? I THINK I CAN GUESS!

(Groaning)

Tom says, TIME'S UP!

(Ding)

Tom says, THE NOISE WAS... MY DAD FALLING ASLEEP AND SNORING.

(Frank snores)

Tom whispers, PSST! WAKE UP, DAD! YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED PETS IN THE CINEMA!

Norman says, OH, SORRY, TOM.

(Dog zombie howls)

Tom asks, DID YOU GET IT? OK, ONE MORE. IS IT BRAD GALLOWAY BLOWING HIS NOISE, OR A BUG PLAYING A TRUMPET?

(Nose blowing)

(Trumpet)

Tom asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

(Trumpeting)

Brad blows his nose into a tissue.

Tom says, TIME'S UP! THE NOISE WAS... BRAD GALLOWAY BLOWING HIS NOSE. QUIET, BRAD!

Brad shouts, SORRY!

Tom says, HA-HA-HA! CLASSIC BRAD. DID YOU GET IT?

(Music playing)

Singing, WELCOME TO MY BRILLIANT SHOW!

Tom sits in the darkened theatre.

Tom says, I'M AT THE CINEMA WITH LEROY AND MY MUM. SHE'S NORMALLY A BIT EMBARRASSING, BUT SO FAR, SO GOOD.

A man says, OOH, SORRY. OOH, EXCUSE ME.

Leroy whispers. LOOK OUT - GIANT ALERT! UH-OH!

A tall man sits in front of Tom.

The tall man says, OH... AH!

Tom says, OH... OHHH! OH, NO!

Leroy says, AWW... WHAT YOU GONNA DO?

Tom says, HMM...

Tom pokes Rita, then points to the tall man.

(Tom grunts)

Rita taps the tall man on the shoulder.

Rita says, HM... EXCUSE ME, WOULD YOU MIND MOVING? MY SON CAN'T SEE.

(The tall man tuts and sighs)

The man moves over one seat, putting him in front of Leroy.

Leroy says, WHAT?! NOW I CAN'T SEE!

Rita says, STILL CAN'T SEE.

The tall man sighs, OHHH!

The tall man moves over another seat.

Tom says, YEAH!

Rita whispers, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

A voice onscreen says, STOP, IN THE NAME OF THE KING!

A pirate cries, OH, NO, IT'S GREENBEARD!

(Loud crunching)

The tall man eats.

(Crunching continues)

Rita calls, REALLY?!

The tall man says, SORRY!

Tom gives Rita a thumbs up.

(Swords clashing)

The pirate says, YES! TAKE THAT!

Tom and Leroy says, WHOA-HO-HO-HO! YEAH, HO-HO! OOH!

Rita cringes.

Rita says, OH, NO... OH, HE DIDN'T. OH, MY GOODNESS!

Leroy whispers, THIS IS SO COOL.

Tom says, I KNOW! WHILE WE WATCH THE MOVIE, YOU GUYS SHOULD CHECK OUT... DRAW IT!

Text reads: Draw it.

(Music playing)

Tom says, IT'S LIZ! SHE WRITES AND DRAWS ALL THE TOM GATES BOOKS.

Liz, a live-action adult with long reddish-brown hair, sits at a table with a large white piece of paper on it.

Liz says, HI. I LIKE DOODLING AROUND THINGS, SO LET'S SEE WHAT I CAN DOODLE AROUND THIS TASTY POPCORN. SO, I'M GOING TO PICK THIS PIECE.

Liz sets a piece of popcorn in the middle of the paper.

Liz says, OBVIOUSLY, YOU CAN EAT IT AFTERWARDS, BUT USE A PENCIL AND DON'T GET ANY PEN ON YOUR POPCORN.

Liz draws a circle above the popcorn.

Liz says, SO, I'M DRAWING SOMEBODY'S FACE. IT'S GOING TO BE A VERY GRISLY PIRATE. GIVE HIM AN EYE PATCH, AND THE POPCORN IS HIS BEARD.

Liz draws the face of a pirate with an eyepatch and a bandana over his head.

Tom says, WOW, THAT'S COOL!

Liz says, LET'S TRY ANOTHER ONE. ERM... LIKE THIS ONE HERE. IT'S A GOOD SHAPE.

Liz puts another piece of popcorn on the paper.

Liz says, LOOKS A LITTLE BIT LIKE A PARROT. THAT'S LIKE ITS BODY. THERE WE GO.

Liz draws a beak, tail feathers and feet around the popcorn piece.

(Chuckles)

Tom says, GREAT STUFF!

Liz says, WHAT ELSE CAN I DRAW? HOW ABOUT THESE TWO HERE?

Liz puts two pieces of popcorn close to each other.

Liz says, THIS ONE LOOKS A BIT LIKE A HAT. MAYBE THAT WAY. HMM, THERE WE GO.

Liz draws a pirate with popcorn for a hat.

Liz says, THESE PIRATES ARE WEARING A NECK SCARF. AND PIRATES, THEY QUITE OFTEN HAVE MISSING TEETH.

Liz draws the pirate with a gap-toothed smile and a pirate on his shoulder.

(Laughs)

Liz says, COMPLETELY WILD.

Tom says, AWESOME!

Liz says, RIGHT, LET'S SEE IF I CAN DO ONE MORE. THIS ONE. I'M GONNA PUT THAT ONE HERE.

Liz arranges a piece of popcorn on the paper.

Liz says, TURN IT ROUND. WHAT ELSE HAVE I BEEN MISSING? PIRATES USUALLY HAVE WOODEN LEGS, DON'T THEY? SO THIS COULD BE... THIS COULD BE LIKE THE BODY.

Liz draws a small head and arms around the popcorn.

Liz says, YOU CAN SEE WHY YOU NEED A SHARP PENCIL. YOU HAVE TO GO RIGHT CLOSE. THAT'S A BOOT ON ONE SIDE, AND THE OTHER SIDE IS A WOODEN LEG.

(Laughs)

Liz says, WHAT DO YOU THINK? DO YOU LIKE MY PIRATE POPCORN?

Tom says AMAZING!

Liz says, AND THERE'S ONLY ONE THING TO DO NOW...

Liz eats some popcorn from the decorated container. She tosses a piece in the air and catches it in her mouth.

Liz says, AH! THERE YOU GO. DOODLING AND SNACKING - TWO OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS.

(Popping)

The pirates on the paper become animated.

A pirate says, AH-HAR!

(Music playing)

Singing, WELCOME TO MY BRILLIANT SHOW!

Tom sits between Rita and Leroy.

Tom says, GOING TO THE CINEMA WITH MY MUM IS USUALLY REALLY EMBARRASSING, BUT TODAY, SHE WAS GREAT! AND SHE MADE SURE THAT REALLY ANNOYING NOISY MAN DIDN'T SPOIL OUR FILM.

(Cannon fires)

Tom says, OHH! OOH! WHOA! HO-HO! THAT WAS BRILLIANT!

Leroy says, SO GROSS, BUT SO COOL!

The tall man stands up. It is Mr. Keen.

(Boys gasp)

Rita says, OH, LOOK, IT'S MR KEEN! HELLO, MR KEEN. DID YOU ENJOY THE FILM?

Mr. Keen says, EVENTUALLY. TOM, LEROY... SEE YOU IN SCHOOL TOMORROW.

Tom says, MUM WAS TELLING OFF MY HEAD TEACHER, MR KEEN!

Rita says loudly, COME ON, TOM, YOU'RE BOUND TO NEED A WEE BEFORE WE GET TO THE CAR.

Tom groans, OH, MUM!

(Leroy laughs)

Leroy says, OH, MAN!

Tom sinks lower in his seat.
