[Bright music plays]

A person says, WHEE!

Text reads, tvokids + Apartment 11 Productions Original.

[Giggling]

[Cheerful music plays]

Tractors line a road on a farm. Lush grass grows on homes in a neighbourhood.

Shakira says, I LOVE SMALL TOWNS.
SMALL TOWNS EQUALS BIG HEARTS.

She walks down a sidewalk with Kyle and Sigfried.

Sigfried says, AND BIG INFLUENCE IF YOU'RE
TWO FANTASTIC KIDS RALLYING FOR
ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE.

A picture shows two young girls holding grocery bags.

Kyle says, I'M DOING THE MATH AND THE TWO
GIRLS, WE'RE ON OUR WAY TO MEET,
REPRESENT 1% OF THE
TOTAL POPULATION.

He types on a calculator. Text reads, 2 = 1% of 200.

He continues, I LIVE IN A CITY WITH ONE
MILLION PEOPLE AND IF WE HAD 1%
OF PEOPLE RALLYING FOR CHANGE
THAT WOULD BE 10,000 PEOPLE.

Text reads, 1% of 1,000,000, 10,000.

Kyle asks, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

Shakira says, THIS TOWN AND ITS TWO YOUNG
CITIZENS AREN'T TOO SMALL TO
BECOME GREENER AND GREATER.

A road sign reads, Wroxeter. Kyle types on his calculator.

He says, I'M READY FOR THIS.
100%.

He holds out his calculator. Text reads, 100%. The three Green Squad members continue down the sidewalk.

[Upbeat music plays]

In the opening credits, the five Green Squad friends pose. They each open bags that carry different emojis.

Eric has long, black hair, and carries gardening emojis. Lisa has long, tightly braided, black hair and carries food and cooking themed emojis. Blond haired Sigfried carries activism themed emojis. Shakira has long, black hair and carries craft themed emojis. Kyle, who has short black hair, has different modes of transportation emojis.

The Green Squad friends dance and pose as text appears that reads, TVO Kids Presents.

A person reading the title says, GREEN SQUAD.

The two young girls from the picture wear matching striped shirts. One had blond hair and the other has brown hair.

The blond haired girl says, I'M MONICA.

The brown haired girl says, AND I'M EMMA.

Monica says, I'M 10.

Emma says, I'M 10 TOO.

Together they say, AND WE'RE BEST FRIENDS.

A picture shows the girls hanging upside down.

Emma says, I LIKE MONICA BECAUSE
SHE'S ENERGETIC AND FUNNY.

[Giggling]

Monica says, WE'VE BEEN
FRIENDS SINCE DAYCARE.

The two friends play outside with a small dog. Monica lies on the ground.

Emma calls, WILLOW!

[Barking]

Emma says, I HAVE A DOG NAMED WILLOW.
SHE'S VERY ENERGETIC AND SHE'S
JUST OVER A YEAR OLD AND SMALL.

Willow leaps over Monica.

Monica says, I HAVE TWO RATS, ONE NAMED
BUDDY, ONE NAMED OREO, AND
THEY'RE JUST ABOUT 6 MONTHS OLD.

In a bedroom, each of the friends holds a rat.

Emma says, FOR MY BIRTHDAY PARTY WE DECIDED
WE WANTED TO GO TO THE RIVER.
WE FOUND SOME GARBAGE
AND WE PICKED IT UP.

Pictures show the friends with bags of garbage.

Monica says, IT JUST REALLY BOTHERS ME WHEN
PEOPLE THROW THEIR GARBAGE ON
THE GROUND BECAUSE THEY DON'T
KNOW HOW BAD IT COULD END UP IF
AN ANIMAL ATE THAT, THEY COULD
GET REALLY SICK OR THEY COULD
END UP DYING.

Pictures show trash in forests.

Emma says, WHEN IT'S IN THE WATER.
WHEN IT'S LIKE IN THE OCEAN, FOR
EXAMPLE LIKE A PLASTIC BAG, THE
SEA TURTLES THINK IT'S A
JELLYFISH AND TRY TO EAT IT AND
THEN IT GOES INTO THEIR SYSTEM
AND IT'S NOT GOOD FOR THEM.
WE STARTED BECAUSE WE WERE
TAKING WILLOW FOR A WALK,
SHE WAS TRYING TO EAT A BUNCH
OF GARBAGE AND THERE WAS JUST A
WHOLE BUNCH OF
GARBAGE EVERYWHERE.

A garbage can overflows with garbage.

Emma continues, SOMETIMES WE SEE LIKE GARBAGE
CANS WITH NO LIDS OR THAT HAVE
LIKE CHEAP LIDS THAT FALL OFF
AND THE WIND BLOWS THEM OVER.
IT'S REALLY NOT
THE PRETTIEST SIGHT.

Monica says, IF SOMEONE SAYS I WAS TOO YOUNG
TO MAKE A CHANGE I WOULDN'T
LISTEN TO THEM BECAUSE THEY'RE
WRONG, BECAUSE ANYONE CAN MAKE A
DIFFERENCE.

Emma says, WE HAVE A NOTEBOOK FULL OF
THINGS THAT WE WANT TO DO FOR
THE ENVIRONMENT.

She flips through a notebook with drawings.

She says, DO LIKE A MURAL.
TRASH BIN LIDS.
WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO GET
PERMISSION FROM THE TOWN
COUNCIL.

Monica says, IT WOULD JUST BE ALL THAT WORK
DOWN THE DRAIN IF WE COULDN'T DO
IT.

Together, Monica and Emma say, HEY, SQUAD.
WE NEED YOUR HELP.
PLEASE COME TO
WROXETER!

[Country music plays]

A montage shows multiple cornfields. Monica and Emma play in a yard with Willow.

Sigfried says, GOT TO LOVE COUNTRY LIVING.

Kyle says, YEAH.
I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND WHY THESE
TWO WANT TO DO ANYTHING THEY CAN
TO KEEP IT THAT WAY.

Kyle, Sigfried and Shakira join Emma and Monica.

Shakira says, HEY!

She waves.

Sigfried says, HI!

Kyle says, HEY!

The girls and Green Squad friends share a group hug.

Sigfried says, IT'S SO NICE TO MEET YOU GUYS.

Emma and Monica leads the squad members to a back porch where a man and two women sit at a table.

Shakira says, HI!

She waves.

Sigfried says, HEY.

Emma says, THIS IS MY MOM AND
DAD AND WILLOW MY DOG.

Her mom has long brown hair. Her dad has short white hair and a beard.

Sigfried says, NICE TO MEET YOU ALL.

Kyle says, NICE TO MEET YA.

Shakira says, NICE TO MEET YOU!

The Green Squad members sit on a bench together.

Monica says, THIS IS MY MOTHER.

Monica’s mom has long blond hair.

She says, SO GLAD TO MEET YOU.

Emma and Monica sit in a chair together.

Kyle says, SO, WE'VE BEEN HEARING ABOUT A
LOT THINGS THAT YOU GUYS WANT TO
DO FOR YOUR COMMUNITY.

Sigfried says, OUR FIRST STEPS ARE TO ORGANIZE
OUR IDEAS AND GET THEM READY TO
PRESENT TO TOWN COUNCIL BECAUSE
WE'RE GONNA NEED THEIR APPROVAL
BUT WE'RE GONNA HAVE A
LOT OF FUN DOING IT.

Emma smiles. Monica nods.

[Funky music plays]

Emma, Monica and the three squad members raise themselves up and down over a railing.

A person says, GREEN SQUAD.

Murals decorate different buildings.

Sigfried narrates, HOW FUN WOULD IT BE TO DESIGN
SOMETHING HUGE THAT EVERYONE
SEES?
EMMA AND MONICA WANT TO DO A
MURAL IN THEIR PUBLIC PARK.

A mural shows kids playing outside.

Sigfried asks, DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY IDEA WHY
THAT MIGHT BE IMPORTANT OR A
GOOD IDEA FOR SOMETHING TO DO?

He sits in a garage with Emma and Monica.

Emma says, BECAUSE LOTS OF
PEOPLE WOULD SEE
IT AND THEN THEY
GET THE MESSAGE
FROM IT?

Sigfried nods.

He says, EXACTLY, YES.
SO LOTS OF PEOPLE WOULD SEE IT
AND ALSO IT'S JUST NICE TO HAVE
A PAINTING IN THE PUBLIC.
IT SORTA MAKES THINGS
LOOK A LITTLE PRETTIER.
MAKES SOMETHING MORE
AESTHETICALLY PLEASING.
ESPECIALLY IF IT'S A SPACE
WHERE A LOT OF PEOPLE GO.
SO, WHY DON'T YOU GUYS SORT OF
SHOW ME WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE IN
YOUR NOTEBOOK BECAUSE I HEARD
YOU ALREADY HAVE SOME IDEAS IN
THERE.

Emma opens a notebook.

She says, KEEP OUR COMMUNITY CLEAN.
KEEP IT GREEN.

The notebook lists multiple ideas.

Sigfried says, MM-HMM.

Emma continues, ONE PERSON CAN
MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
STEP UP AND DO YOUR PART.

Other notes in the book include, In nature, leave only footprints and take only photos, and, If there is no Earth, there is no you.

Monica says, WE DID COME UP WITH THIS ONE
IDEA BUT THEN WE THOUGHT IT WAS
A LITTLE BIT TOO DARK.

Sigfried asks, WHAT WAS IT?

Monica says, IF THERE'S NO
EARTH, THERE'S NO YOU.

A drawing beneath the note in the book shows the Earth within a heart.

Sigfried says, YEAH.
I THINK WE CAN BE A
LITTLE MORE HOPEFUL THAN THAT.

Monica says, YEAH.

Sigfried says, BUT THAT'S NOT A BAD
IDEA.
SO, WHAT IF WE DID SOMETHING
MAYBE SURROUNDING THE SORT OF
PLANET OR EARTH IDEA A LITTLE
MORE LIKE "SAVE THE PLANET TO
SAVE US" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT?
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT?

Monica looks at Emma and asks, DO YOU LIKE IT?

Emma says, MM-HMM.

Monica says, I LIKE IT TOO.

Sigfried sketches a mural of people, animals, and planet Earth in a sketch book.

He says, ALL RIGHT.
SO, WE'VE COME UP WITH A REALLY
GREAT SORT OF BASE SKETCH DESIGN
AND WE'VE INCLUDED A LOT OF
ANIMALS IN IT BECAUSE AS WE KNOW
YOU GUYS LOVE ANIMALS AND WE
BEINGS WOULDN'T REALLY BE ABLE
TO DO ANYTHING WITHOUT ANIMALS
AND INSECTS SO IT'S
GREAT TO INCLUDE IT.

Sigfried sketches the mural onto a large piece of recycled cardboard. He paints the mural with Emma and Monica, then paints on the message.

He says, "SAVE THE EARTH TO SAVE US."
SO, OUR IDEA TO WORK OFF
OF BOARD IS NOW FINISHED.

Kyle and Shakira work with Sigfried and the two friends.

Shakira asks, HOW ARE YOU FEELING
ABOUT THIS MEETING COMING UP.
ARE YOU FEELING A
LITTLE BIT NERVOUS?

Emma says, A LITTLE BIT.

Kyle says, I THINK YOU GUYS ARE
READY TO PRESENT TO
TOWN COUNCIL.

Sigfried says, I THINK WE ARE.

The two friends nod.

Sigfried says, YEAH.

Monica says, THE POSTER TURNED OUT REALLY
GOOD AND I'M REALLY PROUD OF IT.

The Green Squad members display the mural poster outside with Emma and Monica.

Emma says, WE'RE PRETTY NERVOUS TO PRESENT
THE MURAL IDEA TO THE TOWN
BECAUSE WE'D BE DOING IT TO
GROWN UPS AND WHEN YOU DO LIKE, A
SPEECH OR SOMETHING AT SCHOOL
YOU'RE DOING IT TO MOSTLY KIDS.

Monica says, IF THEY SAID "NO, YOU CAN'T
REALLY DO IT", THEN I'D BE JUST
SAD.

The two friends look nervous. Elsewhere in town, a sign reads, George Hamilton Memorial Park, Dedicated 1990. Sigfried helps the friends carry the poster through the park.

He narrates, THE BIG MOMENT HAS ARRIVED.
WE THOUGHT THE PARK WOULD BE THE
PERFECT PLACE TO MEET THE TOWN
COUNCIL TO CONVINCE THEM THAT
MONICA AND EMMA'S IDEAS WOULD BE
GOOD FOR THE TOWN.

With Sigfried, Emma and Monica meet with Mayor Doug, Deputy Mayor Megan, and Recreation Director Brady at a picnic table.

Sigfried says, I'M SURE YOU ALREADY
KNOW EMMA AND MONICA.

Deputy Mayor Megan says, ABSOLUTELY.

Sigfried says, THEY'RE SOME REALLY
PASSIONATE CITIZENS OF WROXETER.

Emma says, THIS IS OUR MURAL IDEA.

Deputy Mayor Megan says, I THINK THIS IS FANTASTIC.

Emma says, WELL, WE HAVE THE EARTH AND
WE HAVE A BUNCH OF LIKE OUR PETS
AND STUFF.

Animals on the mural include a dog, rat, fox and rabbit.

Deputy Mayor Megan says, AWESOME.

Monica says, AND WE HAVE LIKE
INSECTS THAT WE LIKE.

A butterfly on the mural is purple.

Monica adds, IT'LL MAYBE HELP OTHER PEOPLE
NOTICE WHAT THEY'RE DOING AND
HELP DO WHAT WE'RE DOING.

Deputy Mayor Megan says, ABSOLUTELY.

Emma says, IF WE'RE GONNA TREAT THE EARTH
BADLY THEN THE EARTH IS GONNA
GET SICK AND IT'S
GONNA BE A PROBLEM.

Deputy Mayor Megan says, AND WE ONLY GET
ONE EARTH, RIGHT?
SO, WE HAVE TO DO THE BEST
WE CAN TO KEEP IT HEALTHY.

Mayor Doug says, I'M REALLY INTERESTED IN THIS
MURAL THAT YOU'RE SHOWING US,
GIRLS, AND I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU
WANT TO PAINT A MURAL ON THE END
OF THE PAVILION .

He turns toward a nearby pavilion.

Mayor Doug continues, WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT
BECAUSE THIS IS A GOOD MESSAGE
YOU HAVE.

Deputy Mayor Megan says, YOU KNOW, WE'VE HAD A LOT
OF VANDALISM AT THIS PARK LATELY.

One of the girls says, YEAH.

Deputy Mayor Megan says, AND I THINK IT WOULD BE A GREAT
IDEA TO HAVE SOMETHING THERE SO
THAT PEOPLE CAN SEE THAT THERE
ARE PEOPLE THAT CARE ABOUT THE
PARK.

Mayor Doug says, WE LOOK FORWARD TO THIS CATCHING
ON IN WROXETER AND EXPAND THIS
PROGRAM INTO THE OTHER VILLAGES
OR HAMLET THAT WE HAVE TOO.
BECAUSE WE HAVE
OTHER PAVILIONS TOO.

Deputy Mayor Megan says, MAYBE WE COULD GET A SAVE THE
EARTH TO SAVE US CLUB GOING.

Monica says, I THINK THAT'S A GOOD IDEA.

Sigfried says, YEAH.

The meeting continues.

Sigfried narrates, WOW.
EMMA AND MONICA ARE ON A ROLL.
THE PERFECT MOMENT TO
INTRODUCE THEIR OTHER BIG IDEAS.

During the meeting, Sigfried says, WELL, I KNOW WE SAID WE WANTED
TO MAKE SURE THAT THE TRASH CANS
HAVE LIDS, RIGHT?

Deputy Mayor Megan says, YES.

Recreation Director Brady nods.

Monica says, YES.

Sigfried starts, BECAUSE...

Monica says, THE GARBAGE FLIES EVERYWHERE.

Sigfried says, RIGHT.

Deputy Mayor Megan says, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GUYS NOTICED
BUT OUR GARBAGES ARE REALLY
OVERFLOWING RIGHT NOW AND SO WE
COULD PROBABLY USE SOMETHING TO
KEEP THE GARBAGE
FROM FALLING OUT.
THAT WOULD BE A GREAT IDEA.

Monica says, AND WE HAD AN IDEA
ABOUT THE GREEN TEAM.

She turns to Emma.

Sigfried narrates, THAT'S A BUNCH OF FRIENDS THAT
JOIN FORCES TO CLEAN UP THEIR
COMMUNITY.

Deputy Mayor Megan says, IT SENDS THE MESSAGE RIGHT THERE.
YOU'RE A TEAM OF KIDS WHO WANTS
THE WORLD TO BE A LITTLE MORE
GREENER AND I THINK THAT'S
THE EXACT MESSAGE WE WANT HERE.

Monica says, THANKS FOR MEETING US.

Deputy Mayor Megan says, NO PROBLEM.
ANYTIME YOU GUYS WANT TO DO A
BIG PROJECT LIKE THIS WE'RE
HAPPY TO HEAR FROM YOU.

Monica nods.

Later, she says, MEETING THE TOWN COUNCIL WAS
REALLY FUN BUT I WAS REALLY
NERVOUS.

Emma says, BUT I WAS A LITTLE NERVOUS
BECAUSE YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT
SOMETHING YOU WANT TO DO LIKE
YOU DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE
GONNA SAY BUT IT WAS FUN.

Monica says, BECAUSE WHAT IF THEY SAID NO?

Emma says, YEAH.

At the picnic table, Sigfried says, WOW GUYS.
THAT WENT REALLY WELL.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

The two friends nod.

Sigfried says, YEAH, IT WENT AMAZING.

The friends say, YEAH.

Sigfried says, YOU GUYS REALLY HAVE
YOUR WORK CUT OUT FOR YOU.
SO NOW, YOU ARE GOING TO GO
PLAN YOUR T-SHIRTS WITH SHAKIRA.
AMAZING, RIGHT?
OKAY, HIGH FIVES
ALL AROUND.

He high fives Emma and Monica.

He says, YEAH!

[Funky music plays]

The Green Squad members dance. Text reads, Green Beat.

Sigfried narrates, EMMA AND MONICA ARE PART OF A
GROWING GROUP OF KIDS HELPING
THE PLANET LIKE HAAZIQ.

A picture of Haaziq, who has black hair and glasses, shows him wearing a shirt that reads, Dream Big.

Sigfried narrates, HE DIDN'T LIKE ALL THE GARBAGE
IN OUR OCEANS SO HE HAD A
BRILLIANT IDEA.

A bright light bulb appears over another picture of Haaziq.

Sigfried narrates, WOAH!
THAT'S SO BRIGHT.
GOOD THING IT'S ECO-FRIENDLY.
AT 12 YEARS OLD, HAAZIQ DESIGNED
THIS SUPER HIGH TECH SHIP THAT
WOULD COLLECT
PLASTIC IN THE OCEAN.
COOL, EH?

An animation shows a large ship collecting trash from the ocean.

Sigfried narrates, HE CALLED IT E.R.V.I.S.
WHICH STANDS FOR
ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION AND
VITALITY INITIATIVE FOR SUSTAINABILITY.
BUT HE DIDN'T STOP THERE.
HE CREATED THE E.R.V.I.S
FOUNDATION TO EDUCATE YOUNG
PEOPLE AND ENCOURAGE
THEM TO MAKE CHANGES TOO.

Videos show young people in learning environments.

Sigfried narrates, IN HAAZIQ'S OWN WORDS - "AN
IDEA WORTH PURSUING CAN LEAD TO
CHANGE IN THE WORLD.

A light bulb shines above a picture of Sigfried.

Sigfried narrates, YES!

[Funky music plays]

Sigfried, Kyle and Shakira make a human pyramid with Emma and Monica on their backs.

A person says, GREEN SQUAD.

Kyle and Shakira meet Emma and Monica outside.

Shakira says, HEY, GIRLS.
GREAT WORK AT TOWN COUNCIL.

The girls say, THANKS.

Kyle says, AWESOME JOB YOU TWO.

Shakira says, SO, NOW THAT
MISSION ONE IS DONE.
I HAVE A REALLY FUN
ACTIVITY PLANNED.
SO, WHAT I'M GONNA HAVE YOU DO
IS GET SOME COLOURFUL PETALS
FROM THE GARDEN.
KYLE, I'M GONNA
NEED SOME CHIVES.

The group splits up. Emma and Monica collect flower petals from a nearby push.

Shakira narrates, WE ONLY TAKE WHAT WE NEED SO
WE DON'T DAMAGE THE PLANTS.
THESE WILL REALLY HELP PULL
TOGETHER MONICA AND EMMA'S GREEN
TEAM.

Kyle narrates, THEY WILL?

In the garage, Shakira says, IN ORDER TO BE IDENTIFIED IN
THIS COMMUNITY CLEAN UP, WE'RE
GONNA GO ON, I THOUGHT WE COULD
DO SOME TEAM T-SHIRTS SO WHAT
WE'RE ACTUALLY GONNA USE IS THE
DYE FROM THE FLOWERS TO CREATE
FUN DESIGNS ONTO THE T-SHIRTS.

Kyle narrates, VERY CLEVER.

Shakira narrates, THANK YOU!

In the garage, Shakira takes the petals off a yellow flower.

She says, AND HERE ARE SOME
CHIVES THAT WE ALSO PICKED.

She takes chives out of a container.

Shakira says, THESE ARE PERFECT FOR
SPELLING OUT WORDS.
FOR MY DESIGN, I DECIDED, I WAS
FEELING PRETTY INSPIRED BY THE
MURAL DESIGN THAT
YOU GUYS CREATED.
SO, I WAS GONNA USE SOME OF
THIS TO DESIGN MY T-SHIRT.

She holds up the mural poster.

Emma says, I'M GONNA PUT MY NAME AND
THEN MAYBE LIKE AN EARTH OR A
BUTTERFLY OR SOMETHING.

Shakira says, OH, THAT WOULD BE COOL.
BUTTERFLIES ARE COOL.
OKAY, SO, TODAY WE'RE GONNA BE
TRYING SOMETHING CALLED FLOWER
HAMMERING.
THIS IS AN ECO-FRIENDLY PRINTING
TECHNIQUE WHICH USES THE NATURAL
DYES FROM PLANTS, LIKE FLOWERS,
TO TRANSFER ONTO THINGS LIKE
YOUR T-SHIRT.

She reaches for a hammer.

She says, WE HAVE A HAMMER, A
CUTTING BOARD AND WAX PAPER.
STEP ONE IS TO GET YOUR T-SHIRT
AND WE'RE ACTUALLY GONNA FEED IT
THROUGH THE CUTTING BOARD.
SO, THIS CAN BE LIKE OUR BASE.
SO YOU'RE GONNA, TAKE THE SHIRT,
WE'RE GONNA SLIP IT AROUND THE
CUTTING BOARD.

Kyle, Emma and Monica follow Shakira’s instructions and demonstration with their own pink t-shirts and cutting boards.

Shakira says, SO, THE NEXT STEP IS
TO CREATE OUR DESIGNS.

The group create designs on their t-shirts using the flowers and chives. Shakira makes a circle out of green leaves. Emma spells out her name with the chives.

Shakira asks, WHY DO YOU WANT TO HAVE
THESE T-SHIRTS FOR THE WALK?

Emma says, BECAUSE THEN PEOPLE CAN SEE WHAT
WE'RE DOING AND THE T-SHIRT WILL
SPREAD THE MESSAGE ABOUT
SAVING THE ENVIRONMENT.

Shakira says, EXACTLY, THAT'S REALLY GREAT.

Her and Kyle’s shirts read, Save Earth.

Kyle says, I THINK IT’S DONE.

He high fives Monica.

He cheers, WOO!

Shakira says, WITH THE WAX PAPER, I'M GOING TO
PLACE IT ON TOP OF MY DESIGN AND
LAY IT VERY FLAT.

She lays a large piece of wax paper over her design.

Emma says, AND HAMMER...

Shakira says, YEP!
I'M GONNA GET MY HAMMER AND I'M
GOING TO GO ON EVERY SINGLE PART
OF MY DESIGN.
I'M GONNA HAMMER.

She hammers a section of her design.

[Hammer banging]

Emma lays wax paper over her design.

Shakira says, BEAUTIFUL.

Kyle hands Monica a piece of wax paper.

He says, AND THERE...

Monica asks, CAN I HAMMER NOW?

Shakira says, YEAH, YOU CAN GO AHEAD.

She and the others hammer their designs into their shirts.

Shakira narrates, NOW FOR THE FUN PART.
THE PRESSURE FROM THE HAMMERING
TRANSFERS THE DYE ONTO THE
FABRIC.

[Hammer banging]

Kyle pauses and says, WHOO!

He shakes his hand that holds his hammer.

Shakira says, NOW, I'M ABOUT TO DO A
LITTLE GRAND REVEAL.

She carefully peels the wax paper off her shirt.

She says, IT'S NOT GONNA BE PERFECT RIGHT
AWAY BECAUSE WE ACTUALLY HAVE TO
PEEL OFF THE LITTLE BITS OF
FLOWERS AND THE TAPE THAT WE HAD
DONE EARLIER.

Shakira and the others peel the flowers and chives off their shirts.

She comments, IT'S VERY SATISFYING.

[Upbeat music plays]

Monica peels the chives off her shirt, revealing her name.

Shakira says, ONCE ALL THE DYE AND THE COLOURS
ARE FULLY, FULLY, DRY IT'S VERY
IMPORTANT TO IRON THE SHIRTS.

Later, the group hang their shirts on a clothesline.

Shakira narrates, AND
WHEN YOU DO WASH THE SHIRTS IT'S
IMPORTANT TO HAND WASH THEM
IN COLD WATER AND HANG TO DRY.

Back in the garage, Shakira says, NOW THAT THE SHIRTS ARE DONE,
EVERY TIME YOU GO OUT YOU'LL BE
ABLE TO SPREAD YOUR MESSAGE
AND SHOW THAT YOU'RE A TEAM.

Kyle says, SO, THANKS TO SHAKIRA AND THESE
TWO WE'RE DECKED OUT IN STYLE
AND SUBSTANCE.

[Funky music plays]

The Green Squad members dance. Text reads, Green Beat.

Shakira narrates, FLOWER HAMMERING IS SO
COOL.

She and the others work on their shirts in the garage.

[Hammer banging]

Shakira continues, IT'S ACTUALLY A VERY OLD
JAPANESE TECHNIQUE CALLED
TATAKI-ZOMÉ.
PEOPLE ARE NOW FIGURING OUT NEW
WAYS TO DYE OUR CLOTHES BECAUSE
THE NORMAL WAYS USE
HARMFUL CHEMICALS.
ONE OF THE COOLEST IS USING
BACTERIA TO COLOUR FABRIC.
SCIENTISTS ARE WORKING WITH
THESE MICROSCOPIC LIVING THINGS
TO CREATE ALL SORTS OF BEAUTIFUL
COLOURS FOR OUR CLOTHES.

Pictures show different types of bacteria.

Shakira narrates, THEY LEAVE THE FABRIC IN
DIFFERENT PETRI DISHES WITH THE
BACTERIA AND LET
THEM DO THEIR THING.
WE USED FLOWERS, AND NOW
THEY'RE USING BACTERIA.
NATURE IS SO COOL!

[Loud hammering]

Shakira loudly narrates, I JUST HOPE THIS NEW
METHOD ISN'T AS NOISY!

[Funky music plays]

The three Green Squad members kick a ball around with Emma, Monica and Wilson.

A person says, GREEN SQUAD.

[Soft music plays]

Kyle stands outside wearing his dyed t-shirt and holding a clipboard.

He says, LISTEN UP!

He checks the clipboard.

He says, RECYCLING BAGS.

Emma and Monica wear their dyed t-shirts. Monica holds up a recycling bag.

She says, CHECK!

Kyle says, GARBAGE BAGS.

Emma holds up a garage bag.

She says, CHECK!

Kyle says, CREW T-SHIRTS?

Shakira jumps up in front of the others wearing her dyed shirt.

She says, CHECK!

Kyle says, FRIENDS AND FAMILY?

He and the others are joined by a group of kids also wearing pink, dyed t-shirts along with Monica’s mom.

Everyone says, CHECK!

Kyle says, WILLOW?

A person carries Willow, who wears a dyed shirt.

[Willow barking]

Text reads, WOOF!

Kyle says, I GUESS THAT MEANS CHECK.

[Giggling]

Later, Kyle and the others wear reflective vests and protective gloves, and are joined by Emma’s parents.

Kyle says, AS ALWAYS, THE MOST IMPORTANT
PART OF THIS IS MAKING SURE THAT
WE'RE BEING SAFE.
THAT INCLUDES WEARING PROTECTIVE
GLOVES, REFLECTIVE VESTS AND
MAKING SURE THAT WE
HAVE PARENTS WITH US.
RIGHT?

Some of the kids say, YEAH.

Kyle says, SO, WE'RE GONNA BE WALKING
AROUND WROXETER AND JUST
CLEANING UP OUR ROADS, RIVERS
AND PARKS AND YOU KNOW, WE'RE
GONNA HAVE A LOT OF FUN DOING
IT AND JUST MAKE IT A CLEANER
PLACE.
EVERYBODY READY?

All the kids say, YEAH!

Kyle says, ALL RIGHT.
LET'S DO THIS.

He leads the group through a large field.

Kyle calls out, LET'S TRY TO KEEP
EVERYTHING SORTED PROPERLY!
IF YOU'RE NOT SURE ABOUT WHERE
SOMETHING GOES JUST ASK ME!

Emma asks, IS THAT GARBAGE OR
RECYCLING?
THAT LOOKS LIKE CARDBOARD.

Kyle says, CARDBOARD IS
DEFINITELY RECYCLING.

The group members collect different pieces of trash and recycling in the garbage and recycling bags. Emma puts a piece of recycling in her bag.

She says, GET IN THERE!

Kyle picks up a piece of trash.

A person chants, GARBAGE, GARBAGE.

Monica picks up pieces of recycling. The team runs across the field. They clean up garbage off the side of a road.

Emma comments, THERE'S HORSE POOP
UP HERE, PEOPLE!

An animated horse waves.

[Horse neighing]

Emma says, JUST STAY TO THE SIDE.

She walks beside Monica.

Emma says, WHOA!

She and Monica run up the road.

Emma says, MONICA!

She puts a large cardboard box in her recycling bag.

Kyle narrates, THE FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT
THING YOU SHOULD BE DOING TO
KEEP YOUR COMMUNITY CLEAN IS
REDUCING HOW MUCH YOU USE.
BY USING LESS WE DON'T
HAVE TO THROW OUT AS MUCH.

Elsewhere on the road, Kyle stands to the side with Shakira, Emma and Monica.

He says, AFTER THAT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS
CHECK YOUR LOCAL RULES BECAUSE
CITIES, TOWNS, COUNTRIES ALL
HAVE DIFFERENT RULES ABOUT WHAT
YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR GARBAGE.

Emma says, MY DAD SAYS THAT ACROSS THE
STREET THERE THEY HAVE DIFFERENT
RULES.

Shakira says, DIFFERENT RULES
ACROSS THE STREET?
THAT'S SO INTERESTING.

In the grass, Kyle picks up a plastic container.

He says, WE ALL WANT TO HELP OUR
COMMUNITY BUT SOMETIMES WHEN WE
DON'T KNOW THINGS ABOUT THE
WISH-CYCLE, WE COULD DO A LOT
MORE HARM THAN GOOD.

An animated horse appears with a recycling bin and text that reads, Wish-Cycle.

[Horse grunting]

Kyle says, WISH-CYCLING IS WHEN YOU REALLY
WANT TO THROW SOMETHING OUT OR
REALLY WANT TO RECYCLE SOMETHING
AND YOU DON'T KNOW IF IT'S
RECYCLING BUT YOU DO IT ANYWAY.
SOMETIMES, LIKE THIS
PAPER CUP, IT'S NOT.
EVEN THOUGH IN MY HOMETOWN -
THIS IS RECYCLING BUT HERE IN
WROXETER IT'S NOT.

An animation shows a person holding an bag over a recycling bin. An X appears with text that reads, Learn your local rules!

[Cheerful music plays]

Elsewhere in Wroxeter, the team walks down a road. Kyle crosses the road with Emma and her dad.

Emma’s dad cheers, WOO-HOO!

Emma cheers, WOO!

At the park, the team cleans up more trash.

Emma says, WE COME TO THIS PARK A LOT.

Monica says, SO, WE WANT IT TO BE
CLEAN.

Shakira says, YEAH, IN A SMALL TOWN LIKE THIS,
THE PARK IS SOMEWHERE WHERE
EVERYONE CAN ENJOY, RIGHT?

She stands near the pavilion with Kyle and the girls.

Shakira adds, SO, IT'S IMPORTANT TO
SET A GOOD EXAMPLE AND
SHOW EVERYONE HOW
THEY SHOULD BE ACTING
THE PARK, RIGHT?

Kyle says, TOTALLY.

Shakira says, PICKING UP THE GARBAGE
AND NOT LEAVING A MESS
EVERYWHERE.

She cleans up garbage with Kyle. Emma and Monica sit by a tree.

Emma says, I THINK THAT THE GARBAGE PICK UP
WITH EVERYONE WAS REALLY FUN AND
I FIND IT REALLY COOL HOW WE
ALL HAD SIMILAR PINK SHIRTS.

Monica says, WE ACTUALLY PICKED
UP A LOT OF GARBAGE.
MY BAG ENDED UP FULL.

[Funky music plays]

The Green Squad members dance. Text reads, Green Beat.

Kyle narrates, AH, MY EYES.

A picture shows the field.

Kyle continues, THEY FEEL SO MUCH BETTER
LOOKING AT A LITTER FREE PARK.
MY HEART FEELS BETTER TOO.
PICKING UP LITTER EVEN SAVES
ANIMALS WHO GET TANGLED IN IT, OR
THINKS IT'S FOOD AND EAT IT.

A cow munches on a plastic bag.

Kyle narrates, PLASTIC FROM THIS PARK COULD END
UP ALL THE WAY IN THE OCEAN OR
COULD GET EATEN BY A LOCAL
FISH WHO THINKS IT'S HIS DINNER.

Fish swim around trash.

Kyle narrates, GROSS.

An animation shows a fish eating six pack plastic rings.

Kyle continues, WE DIDN'T JUST MAKE THE PLANET
CLEANER TODAY – WE MADE IT A
LITTLE BIT SAFER.

The animation shows a fish eating a critter.

Kyle says, THAT'S BETTER.
ENJOY, MR. FISH.

The fish smiles.

[Funky music plays]

The three Green Squad members play on monkey bars with Emma and Monica.

A person says, GREEN SQUAD.

Kyle and Shakira walk with Emma and Monica between them.

Kyle says, THANK YOU GUYS FOR HAVING US.
WE HAD A TON OF FUN.

Shakira says, YEAH, WE HAD SO MUCH
FUN.
I FEEL LIKE THE BIGGEST LESSON
THAT WE LEARNED TO DAY IS THAT
YOU'RE NEVER TOO YOUNG TO
START CHANGE IN YOUR COMMUNITY.
SO, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Monica says, THANK YOU FOR COMING.
WE'LL MISS YOU.

Shakira says, AW, WE'LL
MISS YOU TOO.
WE'RE GONNA CHECK IN
WITH YOU GUYS LATER, OKAY?

She shares a group hug with Kyle, Emma and Monica.

By the tree with Monica, Emma says, HOPEFULLY, WHEN THEY CHECK IN
WE'LL HAVE THE MURAL COMPLETE,
LIDS ON THE GARBAGE CANS.

Monica says, AND, HOPEFULLY, A LOT MORE
PEOPLE WILL BE HELPING US TO
KEEP WROXETER CLEAN.

[Upbeat music plays]

The Green Squad makes a human pyramid. Text reads, Squad Tip. Shakira stands behind a table with a doll and two pieces of clothing.

She says, HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF
RE-PURPOSING CLOTHES THAT NO
LONGER FIT, HAVE A HOLE, OR
MAYBE, A STAIN THAT WON'T COME
OUT?
THEN I HAVE SOME TRICKS FOR YOU.
LET'S START OFF WITH THIS.

She grabs the first piece of clothing.

Shakira says, WHEN I WAS YOUNGER AND I WOULD
OUTGROW MY CLOTHES I WOULD MAKE
SOME ADJUSTMENTS AND CUT SOME
DIFFERENT PIECES OF FABRIC OFF.
FOR EXAMPLE, THESE JEANS, I
TURNED INTO SOME CUTE CAPRIS OR
I MADE SOME SHORTS BEFORE, I'VE
ALSO MADE VESTS OUT OF JACKETS
THAT NO LONGER FIT.
THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS
AND THE GREAT PART IS YOU MAKE
AN ENTIRE NEW WARDROBE OUT OF
THINGS YOU ALREADY HAVE IN YOUR
CLOSET.
MY CLOTHES SEEM
TO ATTRACT STAINS.

She glances at the sweater she wears.

Shakira continues, I DON'T KNOW WHY.

She shrugs and briefly looks away.

She says, OKAY, OKAY, OKAY, OKAY, FINE.
I COULD BE A LITTLE BIT MESSY
SOMETIMES, BUT DID YOU KNOW THAT
STAINED T-SHIRTS MAKE THE
PERFECT TIE-DYE DESIGNS?

Shakira snaps her fingers, trading her sweater for a tie-dyed shirt.

She says, THIS IS ONE OF MY
FAVOURITES THAT I MADE.
I HAVE A LOT OF TIE DYE.
YOU'LL HAVE LOTS OF FUN
MAKING DIFFERENT DESIGNS.
EACH PIECE COMES OUT ONE OF A
KIND AND UNIQUE AND YOU CAN EVEN
USE NATURAL DYES MADE OUT OF
FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AND IF THE
CLOTHES ARE SIMPLY TOO SMALL TO
CUT OR IF THEY HAVE A HOLE IN
THEM – I STILL
DON'T THROW THEM OUT.
I LIKE TO MAKE SOMETHING
CALLED SHAKIRA ORIGINAL DESIGNS.

Shakira picks up the doll that wears a grey dress.

She says, THIS DOLL HAS A DRESS MADE OUT
OF A SOCK THAT HAD A HOLE IN IT
BUT YOU CAN USE OTHER
THINGS TOO LIKE CLEANING RAGS.
YOUR CLOTHING DOESN'T
ONLY HAVE ONE LIFE.
GIVE IT A NEW BEGINNING.
THERE ARE FUN WAYS FOR YOU TO
CREATE AN ENTIRELY NEW WARDROBE
OUT OF THINGS YOU WOULD
HAVE OTHERWISE GIVEN AWAY.

The Green Squad pose together. Text reads, Check-In. The Squad sits together in front of a tablet.

Kyle says, LET'S CHECK IN
WITH EMMA AND MONICA.

In a video, Emma says, HI, SQUAD.

Monica says, WE WANT TO TELL YOU
ABOUT ALL OUR PROJECTS.

Emma says, EVEN THOUGH WROXETER IS SMALL
WE STILL MADE A DIFFERENCE.
WE MADE SOME
ADULTS RETHINK.
THE MURAL TURNED
OUT REALLY GREAT.
THANK YOU SIGFRIED FOR
HELPING.
WITHOUT YOU WE WOULDN'T HAVE
BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS MURAL.

A timelapse shows the mural being painted in the park pavilion. The back wall in the pavilion is cleaned, then painted light blue.

Monica says, WE STARTED OFF WITH
JUST THE BACKGROUND.
THEN WE GOT A PROJECTOR AND
TRACED THE MURAL IDEAS ONTO THE
WALL.
THEN WE PAINTED THEM IN.

Emma’s dad paints text that reads, To save us all!, and the Earth on the mural while Emma and Monica pant people on either side of the Earth.

Emma says, THERE WAS SOME PEOPLE WHO CAME
UP AND TOLD US HOW GOOD IT
LOOKED AND THEY WERE HAPPY
THAT WE WERE DOING IT.

Emma and Monika pose in front of the completed mural.

Shakira says, IT'S SO GOOD!

Lisa says, IT LOOKS GREAT.

Sigfried says, IT'S SO CUTE.

Monica says, WITH OUR MURAL UP I'M HOPING
THAT PEOPLE WILL STOP LITTERING
AROUND THE PARK AND EVEN
AROUND THE WHOLE TOWN.

Eric nods.

Emma says, I THINK WE MADE AT LEAST A
LITTLE BIT OF A DIFFERENCE
BECAUSE WHEN WE FIRST STARTED
MAKING THE MURAL WE SAW CHICKEN
WING BONES, WE SAW BOTTLE
CAPS, WE SAW PLASTIC BOTTLES.
THERE WAS PROBABLY EVEN A
DIRTY MASK IN THERE.
BUT WHEN WE WERE GOING TO PAINT
THE SECOND COAT OF EVERYTHING WE
DIDN'T SEE THAT MUCH.
LIKE, WE DIDN'T SEE CHICKEN
BONES.

[Quiet laughing]

Emma adds, WE DIDN'T SEE A BOTTLE.
I WAS PROUD.

Shakira says, AW.

Sigfried says, I'M ABSOLUTELY THRILLED
WITH HOW THE MURAL TURNED OUT.
THAT WAS FANTASTIC.
I MEAN REALLY FROM JUST THE
BEGINNING OF OUR SKETCHES AND
WHAT THEY HAD IN THEIR NOTEBOOK
TO THAT, I MEAN, THAT'S AMAZING.

Lisa says, SO GORGEOUS.

Shakira says, INCREDIBLE, YEAH.

In the video, Emma says, HI KYLE.
YOU MADE US LAUGH A LOT.

She and Monica swing their arms in a dance move.

[Green Squad laughing]

Emma says, KYLE KNOWS ALOT
LOT ABOUT RECYCLING.
HE EXPLAINED TO US THAT
RECYCLING IN HIS AREA IS
DIFFERENT FROM
RECYCLING WHERE WE LIVE.

Kyle says, LOCAL RULES, LOCAL RULES, LOCAL
RULES.
IT'S SO DIFFERENT
EVERYWHERE YOU GO, RIGHT?

Shakira nods.

Kyle says, IT'S REALLY GOOD TO SEE
THAT THEY'RE TAKING TO HEART.

Emma says, I'VE BEEN WORKING
ON THE GREEN TEAM.

Monica says, WE WILL PROBABLY DO THE GARBAGE
WALKS AGAIN JUST IN THE SPRING
WHEN ALL THE SNOW IS MELTED
BECAUSE THEN WE COULD FIND A LOT
MORE GARBAGE.

Kyle says, I LIKE THAT THEY'RE PLANNING
AHEAD ONCE AGAIN BECAUSE IT
TALKS ABOUT HOW THE SNOW WAS
OUT AND THAT MAKES IT HARDER TO
ACTUALLY GO OUT AND DO GARBAGE
RUNS BUT ESPECIALLY AT THE START
OF THE YEAR WHEN ALL THE SNOW'S
THAWED AND THERE'S TONS OF
LEFTOVER GARBAGE
FROM THE WINTER.
I THINK THEY GOT A REALLY
GOOD IDEA AHEAD OF THEM.

Emma says, HI SHAKIRA.

Shakira smiles and waves to the tablet.

Emma continues, THANKS FOR HELPING
US MAKE THOSE SHIRTS.

Monica says, I REALLY ENJOYED
MAKING THE T-SHIRTS.
THE DESIGN DIDN'T REALLY LAST
WHEN WE WASHED IT AND PULLED IT
OUT OF THE WASHING MACHINE.

She and Emma hold up their pink t-shirts with faded designs.

Monica says, ALL OF THE DESIGNS
KIND OF FADED AWAY.

Emma asks, AREN'T WE SUPPOSED
TO HAND WASH IT?

Monica pauses, then says, WHAT?

[Green Squad laughing]

Giggling, Monica says, OH.

Shakira says, IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT IT
FADED BECAUSE WE HAD SO MUCH FUN
MAKING THE SHIRTS TOGETHER.
JUST REMEMBER FOR NEXT TIME
YOU USE COLD WATER AND HAND WASH
ONLY.

Emma says, I HAD A GREAT TIME.

Monica says, I HAD A GREAT TIME TOO.

Members of the Green Squad say, AWW.

Shakira says, IT WAS REALLY, REALLY GREAT
WORKING WITH THEM AND MEETING
THEM.
WE HAD A LOT OF FUN.

Lisa says, I KNOW WE'RE ALL SUPER IMPRESSED
AND I BET THE COMMUNITY WAS TOO.

Kyle says, YOU KNOW, THEY MAY COME FROM A
SMALL TOWN BUT THEY MADE A BIG
DIFFERENCE.

The entire Green Squad says, GO EMMA AND MONICA!

[Upbeat music plays]

A person says, WHEE!

Text reads, tvo kids.
