Children in aprons tap a rhythm on kitchen bowls and utensils.

A colourful title reads: My World Kitchen

A narrator asks, WHO'S IN THE MY WORLD KITCHEN HOUSE TODAY?

A child with short blonde hair and a yellow t-shirt opens a door to a kitchen.

The blonde-haired child says, HELLO, MY NAME IS VINNIE. COME IN. THIS IS MY MUM, JESS.

Jess has long black hair and is dressed in black.

Jess says, HI.

The narrator says, HI, MUM!

Vinnie stands behind a kitchen counter.

Vinnie says, TODAY I'M GOING TO BE MAKING ASPARAGUS TART, 'CAUSE I LOVE TO EAT IT.

The narrator says, VINNIE'S MUM HAS SHOWN HIM HOW TO MAKE A DELICIOUS ASPARAGUS TART.

A colourful map of the world has a red arrow that points to England.

The narrator says, VINNIE'S FAMILY IS ENGLISH AND THEY COME FROM A PLACE CALLED BRISTOL. BRISTOL IS A LARGE CITY AND COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST ENGLAND. THE CITY IS VERY OLD AND LOTS OF INTERESTING BUILDINGS CAN BE FOUND THERE. ONE OF THE FIRST HOT AIR BALLOON FLIGHTS WAS IN BRISTOL, AND HOT AIR BALLOONING IS STILL POPULAR THERE TODAY. BRISTOL IS NEAR TO THE SEA, AND ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS PIRATES, BLACKBEARD, CAME FROM BRISTOL, OVER 300 YEARS AGO.

A person in a pirate hat stands in front of the setting sun and looks through a spyglass.

(Music playing)

Vinnie washes his hands at a sink. He wears an apron with white and blue stripes.

The narrator says, VINNIE HAS WASHED HIS HANDS, PUT ON HIS APRON, AND HE'S READY TO COOK.

Vinnie says, I'M GOING TO BE MAKING ASPARAGUS TART FOR MY FRIENDS.

The narrator says, AND HE'S INVITED RILEY, GRACIE, AND RORY TO TASTE ONE OF THE MAIN INGREDIENTS BEFORE THEY TRY VINNIE'S BRISTOLIAN-THEMED MEAL LATER. WHAT'S WHAT?

Gracie opens a box. Gracie has blonde hair and wears a pink t-shirt.

Gracie says, IT LOOKS LIKE A MINI CACTUS.

Riley has short black hair and wears a grey sweatshirt.

Riley says, IT FEELS KIND OF HARD.

Rory has short blonde hair and wears a taupe shirt.

Rory says, THERE'S LITTLE BUMPS ON IT.

The narrator asks, WHAT DOES IT SMELL LIKE?

Gracie says, IT SMELLS QUITE FRESH.

(Inhaling)

Riley says, OH MY GOSH.

The narrator says, AH-HAH!

Rory says, IT SMELLS LIKE WEEDS IN A GARDEN.

The narrator asks, WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?

Gracie says, IT'S QUITE JUICY.

Rory says, IT TASTES LIKE PEAS.

Gracie asks, IS IT LIKE A GREEN BEAN?

The narrator says, IT'S NOT A GREEN BEAN.

Rory says, I THINK IT MIGHT BE A BIT OF CUCUMBER.

The narrator says, AH, IT'S NOT CUCUMBER EITHER.

Riley says, I'M NOT SURE WHAT IT IS.

The narrator says, NO ONE HAS GUESSED THE SPECIAL INGREDIENT. IT'S ASPARAGUS!

Rory says, I LIKE THE TASTE.

The narrator says, GREAT!

Gracie says, I DON'T REALLY LIKE IT.

The narrator says, OH NO!

Riley says, I DON'T LIKE IT.

The narrator says, OH DEAR! NOT EVERYONE LIKES IT. LET'S SEE IF VINNIE CAN CHANGE THEIR MINDS WHEN THEY TRY IT IN HIS RECIPE.

Ingredients appear on a counter.

The narrator says, YOU'LL ALSO NEED FRESH PARSLEY, FRESH THYME, BLACK PEPPER, SOFT CREAM CHEESE, READY-MADE PUFF PASTRY, AN EGG, AND SOME OLIVE OIL. WHAT'S FIRST?

Vinnie stands at the counter. He picks up a plate filled with parsley.

Vinnie says, THIS IS THE PLATE WITH ALL THE PARSLEY IN IT. AND FIRST UP, YOU'VE GOT TO TAKE THE STEM OFF. AND THEN PUT ALL THE LEAVES INTO THE CUP.

Vinnie puts leaves into a clear mug.

The narrator says, NOW VINNIE IS HAVING A REALLY GOOD TIME. WHEN YOU FINISH WITH THE PARSLEY, IT'S TIME TO ADD THE THYME.

Vinnie adds fresh thyme to the mug. He uses scissors to cut the herbs in the mug.

The narrator says, CAREFULLY CUT UP THE FRESH HERBS. SNIP, SNIP, SNIP. TIP THEM INTO A BOWL OF CREAM CHEESE. AND THEN, HERE WE GO. MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT.

Vinnie uses a spoon to stir ingredients in a clear bowl.

The narrator continues, ADD A FEW TWISTS OF BLACK PEPPER. AND THERE WE GO AGAIN, MIX IT, MIX IT! DOING A GREAT JOB, VINNIE! DIVIDE YOUR CREAM CHEESE MIXTURE INTO FOUR PARTS, LIKE THIS.

Vinnie uses the spoon to draw lines in the cream cheese.

The narrator says, SPRINKLE FLOUR OVER THE WORK TOP AND ROLL OUT THE PUFF PASTRY.

Vinnie uses a rolling pin.

Vinnie says, MY FAVOURITE BIT OF THE RECIPE IS ROLLING, 'CAUSE THE THING IS SO SQUISHY AND SOFT.

The narrator says, WELL DONE, VINNIE, WELL DONE. CUT EACH PIECE OF PASTRY IN HALF.

Vinnie says, NOW WE'RE GOING TO MAKE THE LITTLE PICTURE FRAME INSIDE.

Vinnie scores the dough with a knife.

The narrator says, GENTLY MARK A LINE AROUND THE EDGE OF EACH PIECE OF PASTRY, JUST LIKE A PICTURE FRAME. THEN PUT THE PASTRY ONTO BAKING PAPER ON A BAKING SHEET. SPOON ONE PART OF THE CREAM CHEESE ONTO EACH PIECE OF THE PASTRY. AND SPREAD IT OUT, LIKE THIS. NICE WORK, VINNIE.

Vinnie uses a small spatula to spread the cream cheese mixture.

Vinnie says, I THINK MY FRIENDS WILL LIKE IT, BUT GRACIE, MY FRIEND, IS A LITTLE BIT WORRIED IF SHE WON'T LIKE IT.

The narrator says, I'M SURE SHE'LL LOVE IT, VINNIE.

Vinnie says, NOW IT'S TIME FOR MY SPECIAL INGREDIENT.

An animation shows asparagus growing out of the ground.

The narrator says, AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS, DON'T YOU? THAT'S RIGHT, IT'S ASPARAGUS! ASPARAGUS IS A FLOWERING PLANT AND FARMERS CAREFULLY HARVEST THE YOUNG SHOOTS OF THE PLANT, WHICH ARE CALLED "SPEARS." THE SPEARS ARE USUALLY GREEN, BUT CAN ALSO BE PURPLE OR WHITE. ASPARAGUS CAN BE EATEN FRESH IN SALADS. FRIED. GRIDDLED. OR USED IN SOUPS AND STEWS.

An animation shows a person in ancient Chinese clothing.

The narrator says, IN ANCIENT CHINA, WHEN IMPORTANT GUESTS CAME TO VISIT, THEY WOULD BE GIVEN AN ASPARAGUS FOOT BATH TO WELCOME THEM.

Vinnie picks up a bowl of asparagus.

Vinnie says, NOW THE NEXT STEP IS SNAPPING THE ASPARAGUS IN HALF. I THINK ASPARAGUS TASTES DELICIOUS.

The narrator says, OOOH, I THINK IT'S DELICIOUS TOO. CRACK AN EGG INTO A MUG, CHECK IT FOR SHELL, AND THEN WHISK IT, WHISK IT, WHISK IT! DON'T FORGET TO WIPE YOUR HANDS AFTER TOUCHING RAW EGG.

Vinnie says, BAKING TRAY. NOW WE'RE GOING TO PUT ASPARAGUS ONTO THE CREAM CHEESE.
WE'RE MAKING A PATTERN OF THEM, SO SPEAR, NO SPEAR, SPEAR, NO SPEAR.

Vinnie presses the asparagus pieces into the cream cheese mixture on the pastry.

The narrator says, ADD ALL THE ASPARAGUS TO THE OTHER PIECES OF PASTRY.

Vinnie dips a brush into the whisked egg.

Vinnie says, NOW WE'RE GOING TO GET THE EGG, AND WE'RE GOING TO SPREAD IT AROUND THE EDGES TO CREATE A NICE GOLDEN CRUST. FEELS LIKE YOU'RE PAINTING A PICTURE FRAME.

The narrator says, BRUSH THE TOP OF THE TARTS WITH SOME OIL, LIKE THIS.

Vinnie uses another brush to coat the tops of the asparagus.

The narrator continues, THEN ASK A GROWN-UP TO PUT THEM INTO THE OVEN FOR YOU.

Vinnie asks, MUM, CAN YOU COME PUT THIS IN THE OVEN, PLEASE? THANK YOU.

Jess says, THEY LOOK REALLY NICE!

Vinnie says, THANKS.

Jess slides the tray into an oven.

The narrator says, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BAKE VINNIE'S ASPARAGUS TART AT HOME...

(Music playing)

A person does all the steps of the recipe on a counter

The narrator says, PICK THE LEAVES OFF FRESH PARSLEY AND THYME. PUT THEM INTO A MUG AND CAREFULLY CUT THEM UP. TIP THE CHOPPED HERBS INTO A BOWL OF CREAM CHEESE. THEN ADD A FEW TWISTS OF BLACK PEPPER, AND MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT. DIVIDE THE CREAM CHEESE MIXTURE INTO FOUR PARTS, LIKE THIS. LIGHTLY FLOUR THE WORK SURFACE AND THE PUFF PASTRY. THEN ROLL OUT ONE PIECE TO MAKE A BIG RECTANGLE.

Dough is rolled out with a rolling pin.

The narrator continues, CAREFULLY CUT THE PASTRY IN HALF, THEN MARK AROUND THE EDGE OF EACH PIECE, LIKE THIS, TO MAKE A FRAME. DO THE SAME AGAIN WITH THE SECOND PIECE. PUT THE FOUR PIECES OF PASTRY ONTO BAKING PAPER ON A BAKING SHEET. SPOON SOME OF THE CREAM CHEESE ONTO EACH PIECE, AND SPREAD IT OUT, JUST LIKE THIS. SNAP ALL THE ASPARAGUS IN HALF. CRACK AN EGG INTO A MUG. CHECK IT FOR SHELL. AND-- YOU'VE GUESSED IT, WHISK IT, WHISK IT, WHISK IT! DON'T FORGET TO WIPE YOUR HANDS AFTER TOUCHING RAW EGG. PLACE THE ASPARAGUS ON TOP OF THE CREAM CHEESE. PAINT THE EDGES OF THE PASTRY WITH WHISKED EGG. THEN BRUSH SOME OIL OVER THE TOP OF THE TARTS AND ASK A GROWN-UP TO PUT THE BAKING SHEET IN THE OVEN FOR YOU TO COOK.

Vinnie sets a dining room table covered with a net. He puts down mugs filled with yellow liquid.

The narrator says, NOW THERE'S JUST ENOUGH TIME FOR VINNIE TO GET THE TABLE READY FOR HIS BRISTOLIAN-THEMED MEAL.

Vinnie puts out a parrot decoration and scatters gold coins over the table.

Vinnie says, I'M HAVING A PIRATE-THEMED PARTY, 'CAUSE I LOVE PIRATES.

(Doorbell ringing)

Vinnie says, MY FRIENDS ARE HERE!

The narrator says in a pirate accent, ARR, YOUR PIRATE DECORATIONS LOOK SHIP-SHAPE TO ME, VINNIE. LET'S HOPE YOUR SHIPMATES AGREE.

Vinnie opens the front door.

Vinnie says, HELLO, RILEY!

Riley says, HELLO, VINNIE!

Gracie says, HELLO!

Rory says, HELLO!

Riley says, THIS LOOKS KIND OF GOOD, ACTUALLY.

Gracie says, THIS IS SO COOL.

Vinnie asks, DO YOU LIKE THE DECORATIONS?

Rory says, I REALLY LIKE HOW IT'S BASED ON PIRATES.

Vinnie says, THANK YOU. SINCE IT'S PIRATE THEMED, HOW ABOUT WE DRESS UP?

The children shout, YAY!

The children pull pirate costumes out of a box.

The narrator says, WHAT A GREAT DRESSING-UP BOX! ARRR. EVERYONE IS LOOKING LIKE PERFECT PIRATES. THEY'VE WASHED THEIR HANDS AND THEY'RE READY TO EAT.

Vinnie asks, ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO EATING THE FOOD?

The children say, ARR-HAR!

Rory asks, WHO WILL FEED THE GREAT OCTOPUS THIS YEAR?

Riley says, ME!

Jess carries plates into the room.

Jess says, THERE WE GO.

The narrator says, AHOY THERE! HERE'S MUM WITH THE COOKED AND SLIGHTLY COOLED ASPARAGUS TART.

Gracie says, WOW, THAT LOOKS YUMMY.

The narrator says, SHIVER MY TIMBERS! THAT ASPARAGUS TART LOOKS TASTY. AND MUM HAS MADE A DELICIOUS SALAD TO GO WITH IT.

Rory says, TASTES NICE IN THE MIDDLE.

The narrator says, EARLIER TODAY, NOT ALL OF VINNIE'S FRIENDS LIKED THE TASTE AND SMELL OF ASPARAGUS. I WONDER IF THEY'LL CHANGE THEIR MINDS WHEN THEY TRY IT IN VINNIE'S RECIPE.

Gracie says, IT'S REALLY NICE.

The narrator says, AH, THAT'S GREAT TO HEAR, GRACIE.

Riley says, IT TASTES LIKE PIZZA.

Rory says, IT TASTES LIKE CREAMY PIZZA.

Riley says, YEAH, YUM.

Vinnie asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK THE SPECIAL INGREDIENT IS?

Rory says, I THINK IT IS PIZZA, WHICH I LOVE.

Vinnie says, UH, MIGHT BE!

Riley says, GREEN BEANS.

Gracie asks, CHEESE?

Vinnie says, NOPE. THE SPECIAL INGREDIENT IS...

(Vinnie drumming the table)

Vinnie says, ASPARAGUS. DO YOU LIKE IT?

Rory says, YES.

Riley says, I DIDN'T LIKE IT BEFORE WHEN IT WASN'T COOKED, BUT I NOW LIKE IT IN A TART.

The narrator says, WELL DONE, VINNIE! IT LOOKS LIKE THEY DO LIKE THE TASTE OF ASPARAGUS AFTER ALL.

Vinnie says, THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY WORLD KITCHEN.

Vinnie gives two thumbs-up.
