(Music playing)

Children in aprons tap a rhythm on kitchen bowls and utensils.

A colourful title reads: My World Kitchen

A narrator asks, WHO'S IN THE MY WORLD KITCHEN HOUSE TODAY?

A child with long curly dark brown hair opens a door to a kitchen.

The brown-haired child says, HI, I'M ZAHRA-ROSE. COME IN. THIS IS MY MUM FARDOUSA.

Fardousa has long curly dark brown hair and wears a navy-blue dress with white dots.

Fardousa says, HELLO.

The narrator says, HI, MUM.

Zahra-Rose stands behind a kitchen counter.

Zahra-Rose says, TODAY I'M MAKING NAFAQO, 'CAUSE I LOVE TO EAT IT.

The narrator says, ZAHRA-ROSE'S MUM HAS SHOWN HER A SPECIAL WAY TO MAKE NAFAQO, WHICH TASTES DELICIOUS.

(Music playing)

A map of the world has a red arrow that points to Somalia.

The narrator says, ZAHRA-ROSE'S FAMILY IS SOMALIAN, AND THEY COME FROM SOMALIA. SOMALIA IS A COUNTRY IN EASTERN AFRICA. THE WEATHER IS HOT, AND DRY DESERTS CAN BE FOUND THERE.

Giraffes walk through tall grass.

The narrator continues, SOME AMAZING ANIMALS LIVE IN SOMALIA, AND THESE INCLUDE GIRAFFES... ZEBRAS... AND CAMELS. LOTS OF DELICIOUS FOOD IS GROWN THERE, LIKE RICE, CLOVES, AND PEANUTS. SUQAAR AND SAMBUSA ARE EATEN BY MANY PEOPLE, AS WELL AS A POPULAR DISH CALLED NAFAQO, WHICH IS WHAT ZAHRA-ROSE IS MAKING TODAY.

Zahra-Rose walks her hands at a kitchen sink.

The narrator says, ZAHRA-ROSE HAS WASHED HER HANDS, PUT ON HER APRON, AND SHE'S READY TO COOK.

Zahra-Rose wears a black apron with white dots.

Zahra-Rose says, I'M MAKING NAFAQO FOR MY FRIENDS.

The narrator says, AND SHE'S INVITED CASEY, OREN AND ALEXIA TO TASTE ONE OF THE INGREDIENTS BEFORE THEY TRY ZAHRA-ROSE'S DELICIOUS SOMALIAN RECIPE LATER. WHAT'S THAT?

Casey opens a box. Casey has blonde hair in a ponytail and wears a green shirt.

Casey says, IT FEELS REALLY SPONGY AND WET.

Alexia has long blonde hair and wears a yellow top.

Alexia says, IT LOOKS VERY SOFT.

The narrator asks, WHAT'S IT SMELL LIKE?

Casey says, A LITTLE BIT STRONG FOR YOUR NOSE.

Alexia says, IT SMELLS VERY SWEET.

Oren has short blonde hair and wears a red t-shirt.

Oren says, WEIRD.

The narrator asks, WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?

Casey says, IT TASTES QUITE SALTY.

Alexia says, I THINK IT'S EGG.

Oren says, SQUISHY, AND IT JIGGLES ABOUT IN YOUR MOUTH.

Casey says, I THINK IT'S A BOILED EGG.

The narrator says, WELL DONE. IT'S A PIECE OF BOILED EGG WHITE. MAKE SURE YOU'RE NOT ALLERGIC TO EGG BEFORE TASTING IT.

Casey says, I NORMALLY LIKE EGG, BUT NOT ON ITS OWN.

Oren says, I LIKE THE TASTE OF EGG.

Alexia says, I THINK I REALLY LIKE IT.

The narrator says, MOST OF THEM LIKE IT, WHICH IS GOOD NEWS, BECAUSE EGG IS ONE OF THE INGREDIENTS IN ZAHRA-ROSE'S RECIPE.

Ingredients appear on a white counter.

The narrator continues, YOU'LL ALSO NEED LEMON, TURMERIC POWDER, POTATOES, GROUND CUMIN, BLACK PEPPER, GREEN CHILI PEPPER, NATURAL YOGURT, GARLIC PURÉE, BREADCRUMBS, SPRING ONION, GINGER PURÉE, GROUND CORIANDER, PLAIN FLOUR, VEGETABLE OIL, SALT AND FRESH CORIANDER.

Zahra-Rose stands by the counter.

The narrator asks, WHAT'S FIRST, ZAHRA-ROSE?

Zahra-Rose says, I'M MASHING THE POTATO NOW.

Zahra-Rose mashes potatoes in a pink bowl.

The narrator says, ZAHRA-ROSE'S MUM HAS COOKED AND CHOPPED SOME POTATOES FOR HER.

Zahra-Rose says, IT LOOKS LIKE WHITE WORMS.

The narrator says, HA-HA. WHEN IT'S ALL MASHED UP, ADD A PINCH OF SALT AND A FEW TWISTS OF BLACK PEPPER.

Zahra-Rose says, NOW, WE'RE GOING TO ADD THE FLOUR, CUMIN POWDER.

The narrator says, YOU'LL ALSO NEED TO ADD SOME GROUND CORIANDER AND SOME TURMERIC POWDER. CAREFUL NOT TO GET ANY IN YOUR EYES. COME ON, ZAHRA-ROSE. MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT.

Zahra-Rose stirs the ingredients with a spoon.

Zahra-Rose says, IT SMELLS VERY STRONG, SORT OF LIKE LAVENDER.

The narrator says, NOW, CAREFULLY CHOP SOME CORIANDER, THEN ADD IT TO THE POTATO. AND MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT AGAIN.

Zahra-Rose says, NOW, IT'S TIME FOR MY SPECIAL INGREDIENT.

An illustration of a chicken appears.

The narrator says, AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS, DON'T YOU? IT'S EGGS. CHICKEN EGGS ARE LAID BY FEMALE CHICKENS CALLED HENS. THEY HAVE A HARD OVAL SHELL TO PROTECT THE EGG YOLK WITH EGG WHITE AROUND IT.

Illustrations show different egg dishes.

The narrator continues, EGGS CAN BE SCRAMBLED, POACHED, FRIED, BOILED OR USED AS AN IMPORTANT INGREDIENT IN MANY DELICIOUS RECIPES. THERE ARE LOTS OF TYPES OF EGGS THAT PEOPLE EAT. TINY QUAIL'S EGGS ARE THE SMALLEST, AND GIANT OSTRICH EGGS ARE THE LARGEST.

(Music playing)

Zahra-Rose says, THIS IS MY FAVOURITE PART OF THE RECIPE.

The narrator says, OOH. THIS SOUNDS LIKE FUN.

Zahra-Rose says, IN THIS CONTAINER, THERE'S COLD WATER. NOW, I'M GOING TO PLACE THE TWO BOILED EGGS IN.

The narrator says, ASK A GROWN-UP TO HARD-BOIL THE EGGS FOR YOU.

Zahra-Rose says, SHUT THE LID. I'M GOING TO GIVE IT A SHAKE TO TAKE THE SHELLS OFF.

Zahra-Rose shakes a plastic container.

The narrator says, SHAKE IT, SHAKE IT, SHAKE IT.

Zahra-Rose says, THIS IS REALLY THE BEST PART. IT'S WORKED!

Zahra-Rose opens the container and takes out two shelled eggs.

The narrator says, NOW ALL THE SHELL IS OFF, PUT THE EGGS TO ONE SIDE.

Zahra-Rose asks, RYAN, CAN YOU COME HELP?

Ryan says, YEAH, SURE.

Ryan has short curly dark brown hair and wears a green shirt, with a blue apron.

The narrator says, ZAHRA-ROSE'S BROTHER RYAN IS GOING TO HELP WITH THE NEXT STEP. FIRST, COVER YOUR HANDS WITH FLOUR, THEN DIVIDE THE POTATO MIXTURE IN HALF. SCOOP EACH HALF OUT AND FLATTEN IT WITH YOUR HANDS.

Zahra-Rose says, I'M GOING TO GET MY EGG.

The narrator says, THEN CAREFULLY WRAP EACH HALF AROUND A BOILED EGG, MAKING A BALL, LIKE THIS. WHAT'S NEXT?

Zahra-Rose says, NOW, YOU'VE GOT TO DIP IT IN THE BREADCRUMBS.

Ryan says, OKAY. LET'S GO.

Ryan and Zahra-Rose put balls of potatoes in a dish with breadcrumbs.

The narrator says, MAKE SURE THEY ARE COMPLETELY COVERED, THEN PUT THEM INTO AN OILED MUFFIN TRAY. PAINT SOME OIL OVER THE TOP, THEN ASK A GROWN-UP TO PUT THEM INTO THE OVEN FOR YOU TO COOK.

Zahra-Rose asks, MUM, CAN YOU COME PUT THEM IN THE OVEN FOR ME?

Fardousa picks up the muffin tray.

Fardousa says, WELL DONE, YOU.

The narrator says, IT'S TIME TO MAKE THE CHILI SAUCE. FIRST, ADD SOME CHOPPED GREEN CHILI INTO A MORTAR. THEN CHOPPED SPRING ONION, SOME MORE CHOPPED CORIANDER, GARLIC PURÉE, GINGER PURÉE, AND A FEW TWISTS OF BLACK PEPPER, AND GRIND IT ALL TOGETHER.

Zahra-Rose uses a mortar and pestle.

The narrator continues, YOU COULD USE THE END OF A ROLLING PIN IN A BOWL TO DO THIS, TOO. WHEN IT'S ALL GROUND TOGETHER, ADD IT TO A BOWL OF YOGURT WITH A SQUEEZE OF LEMON JUICE.

Zahra-Rose stirs a bowl.

The narrator says, MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT. COVER THE BOWL WITH SOME FOIL.

Zahra-Rose says, NOW, LET'S TAKE IT TO THE FRIDGE.

Zahra-Rose puts the covered bowl in a refrigerator.

The narrator says, IF YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE ZAHRA-ROSE'S RECIPE AT HOME, ASK A GROWN-UP TO COOK AND CHOP SOME POTATOES FOR YOU.

Zahra-Rose goes through the steps of the recipe.

The narrator says, THEN MASH DOWN, LIKE THIS. ADD A PINCH OF SALT AND A FEW TWISTS OF BLACK PEPPER. TIP PLAIN FLOUR, GROUND CUMIN, GROUND CORIANDER AND TURMERIC POWDER INTO THE MASHED POTATO, BUT MAKE SURE YOU DON'T GET ANY IN YOUR EYES. MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT. CAREFULLY CUT UP SOME FRESH CORIANDER, ADD IT TO THE POTATO MIXTURE AND MIX IT AGAIN. ASK A GROWN-UP TO HARD-BOIL THE EGGS FOR YOU, THEN PUT THEM INTO A FOOD BOX WITH SOME COLD WATER. POP THE LID ON, THEN SHAKE THE BOX SO ALL THE SHELL FALLS OFF.

Zahra-Rose presses her hand into a dish of flour.

The narrator continues, DIP YOUR HANDS INTO PLAIN FLOUR TO COAT THEM. SCOOP HALF OF THE POTATO MIXTURE UP AND FLATTEN IT OUT, THEN WRAP IT AROUND ONE OF THE EGGS. DO THE SAME WITH THE SECOND ONE. ROLL EACH ONE IN BREADCRUMBS. PUT THEM INTO A WELL-OILED LARGE MUFFIN TIN.

Zahra-Rose brushes oil over the breadcrumbs.

The narrator says, PAINT SOME OIL OVER THE TOP, THEN ASK A GROWN-UP TO PUT THEM INTO THE OVEN TO COOK. TO MAKE THE CHILI SAUCE, TIP CHOPPED GREEN CHILI, CHOPPED SPRING ONION, SOME MORE CHOPPED CORIANDER, GARLIC PURÉE AND GINGER PURÉE INTO A MORTAR. ADD A FEW TWISTS OF BLACK PEPPER, AND THEN GRIND IT TOGETHER USING THE PESTLE. YOU CAN USE THE END OF A ROLLING PIN AND A BOWL TO DO THIS STEP, TOO. PUT THE MIXTURE INTO SOME NATURAL YOGURT. SQUEEZE IN THE JUICE OF HALF A LEMON AND MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT.

Zahra-Rose stirs the bowl.

The narrator says, THEN COVER THE SAUCE WITH FOIL AND POP IT IN THE FRIDGE.

Zahra-Rose sets a pinecone on a dish. She sets out baskets and a colourful pillow.

The narrator says, NOW, THERE'S JUST ENOUGH TIME FOR ZAHRA-ROSE TO GET EVERYTHING READY FOR HER TASTY SOMALIAN RECIPE.

Zahra-Rose sets a cushion by a rug and small tents.

Zahra-Rose says, I LOVE HAVING PICNICS, SO I'M GOING TO HAVE AN INDOOR PICNIC WITH MY FRIENDS.

(Doorbell ringing)

Zahra-Rose says, MY FRIENDS ARE HERE.

Zahra-Rose opens a front door.

The narrator says, WOW, ZAHRA-ROSE. YOUR FRIENDS ARE IN FOR A GREAT SURPRISE. YOUR SOMALIAN DECORATIONS LOOK PERFECT FOR A PICNIC.

Zahra-Rose says, HI.

Casey says, HI!

Oren says, HI.

Alexia says, HEY.

The narrator says, NOW, EVERYONE'S WASHED THEIR HANDS AND THEY'RE READY TO EAT.

The children sit on cushions on the floor.

Zahra-Rose says, THIS IS MY INDOOR PICNIC. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Casey says, I LIKE THOSE PATTERNS ON THE FABRIC.

Colourful cloth is draped over the tents.

Zahra-Rose says, THEY'RE TRADITIONAL SOMALIAN FABRICS. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE FOOD IS GOING TO TASTE LIKE?

Oren says, I DON'T REALLY KNOW, BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS.

The narrator says, WELL, THEY WON'T HAVE TO WAIT LONG, BECAUSE HERE'S MUM WITH THE COOKED AND COOLED FOOD.

Fardousa sets plates in front of the children. The balls have been cut in half to reveal the cooked egg inside.

The narrator says, WOW. THAT LOOKS DELICIOUS. THE BREADCRUMBS HAVE TURNED GOLDEN, AND THE CHILI SAUCE LOOKS GREAT, TOO. EARLIER, MOST OF ZAHRA-ROSE'S FRIENDS LIKED THE TASTE OF EGG. I WONDER IF THEY'LL CHANGE THEIR MINDS WHEN THEY TRY IT IN HER RECIPE.

Zahra-Rose says, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF IT?

Casey says, I THINK IT'S REALLY NICE.

Alexia says, I THINK THE TEXTURE IS PERFECT.

Oren says, I REALLY LIKE IT, AND IT TASTES LIKE CURRY.

Zahra-Rose says, THERE WAS ABOUT SEVEN DIFFERENT SPICES. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE SPECIAL INGREDIENT IS?

Alexia says, I'VE NO IDEA.

Oren says, EGG AND POTATO.

Casey says, I THINK IT'S EGG.

Zahra-Rose says, THE SPECIAL INGREDIENT IS… EGG.

The children say, YEAH.

Zahra-Rose asks, HAVE YOU HAD ANY SOMALIAN FOOD BEFORE?

Casey says, NO, I HAVEN'T. I THINK IT'S REALLY NICE. I LIKE THE HERBS IN IT AND STUFF.

The narrator says, WELL DONE, ZAHRA-ROSE. YOUR FRIENDS LOVE THEIR SOMALIAN PICNIC.

The children eat.

Zahra-Rose says, THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY WORLD KITCHEN.
