In an animation, Andy, a garbologist with brown hair and beard, drives a small truck through a garbage dump. The truck's roof has a propeller and a solar panel. A wide broom is on the truck's underside. On the side are a tool panel, a vacuum hose, a garbage bin, recycling bins for food and electronic waste, and a blue bin for paper, cans, and bottles.

[Upbeat music plays, tires screeching]

Andy says, YOU WANNA KNOW A SECRET? SOME OF THE BEST STORIES CAN BE FOUND IN YOUR STINKY, SLIMY, ROTTEN TRASH. DON'T BELIEVE ME? CHECK THIS OUT!

The truck takes off. Smiling garbage gathers.

Title: Garbology.

Andy lands his truck in a park. He walks to a backpack, doing chin-ups on a bar.

[Whirring, grunting]

Andy says, LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO THE BACKPACK.

The backpack jumps to the ground.

[Grunting, thumping]

The backpack says, YO, I'M MADE OF A LARGE VARIETY OF NATURAL AND SYNTHETIC MATERIALS SUCH AS COTTON, PLASTIC, NYLON, CANVAS, LEATHER, POLYPROPYLENE, AND P.V.C.

The backpack’s components appear as they list them.

[Chiming]

The backpack says, OVER 23 DIFFERENT COMPONENTS, BRO.

Andy says, IT MAKES YOU NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO RECYCLE.

The backpack says, BUT I'M SUPER STRONG. WANNA SEE?

The backpack jumps and grabs the chin-up bar.

Andy says, THAT'S OKAY, I BELIEVE YOU.

The backpack says, CHECK THIS OUT. I CAN LIFT 10 BRICKS.

Ten bricks appear and fall into the backpack. It does a chin-up on the bar.

[Grunting, dinging, clattering]

Andy says, OR YOU COULD USE A WHEELBARROW.

The backpack says, I CAN CARRY TWO BOWLING BALLS!

Two bowling balls appear and drop into the backpack. The backpack does a chin-up.

[Dinging, bowling pins clattering, grunting]

Andy says, THEY HAVE SPECIAL BAGS FOR THAT. THEY'RE CALLED BOWLING BALL BAGS.

[Birds chirping]

The backpack says, OR ONE BABY HIPPO!

A baby hippopotamus appears and falls into the backpack. The backpack strains to do a chin-up and rips. They jump to the grass and the baby hippopotamus runs away.

[Grunting, ripping, Andy gasping, hippopotamus grunting, birds chirping]

The backpack says, OH NO, BRO! GUESS I'M HEADED FOR THE LANDFILL.

Andy says, NO, LET'S FIX YOU.

The truck drives to the backpack and the mechanical arm picks them up.

[Tires screeching, whirring]

The backpack says, REALLY? I THOUGHT I WAS UNFIXABLE. MOST OF US JUST GET REPLACED.

Andy says, A PATCH AND A FEW STITCHES AND YOU'LL BE AS GOOD AS NEW.

The mechanical arm sews a patch over the hole in the backpack’s side.

[Whirring, scissors snipping thread]

The backpack says, WOW, I FEEL STRONGER THAN EVER! LIKE I COULD LIFT THREE BABY HIPPOS! LET'S DO IT!

The backpack jumps to the bar and does chin-ups.

[Grunting]

Andy says, MOST BACKPACKS CAN LAST A LONG TIME IF YOU TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM.

The backpack says, YEAH, DON'T THROW ME, KICK ME, OR LEAVE YOUR OLD SMELLY LUNCH IN ME.

Andy says, THAT'S RIGHT, AND BACKPACKS MADE OF NATURAL FIBRES LIKE COTTON, CANVAS, AND WOOL GO ON TO LIVE EVEN LONGER LIVES. HEY, SPEAKING OF LUNCH...

The backpack says, I GOT 27 TUNA FISH SANDWICHES PACKED IN ME. LOTS OF PROTEIN!

The backpack tips and sandwiches in zippered plastic bags fall onto the grass.

[Grunting, rustling]

The backpack says, LET'S EAT.

Andy says, YUM!

The backpack eats a sandwich. Andy picks one up and opens the bag.

[Backpack munching, upbeat music plays]

Andy says, REMEMBER, KIDS: REDUCE, REUSE, REPAIR, AND RECYCLE. SMELL YOU LATER.

Andy eats his sandwich.

[Upbeat music plays]
