THEY ARE IN DANGER.
Audrey stands as she slides down a rock past Karl and Pat. Karl, a slender young man with black hair, watches Audrey slide past. He wears an olive green vest, a dark green hat, a yellow shirt, red pants, and red-rimmed eyeglasses. Pat bottle-feeds a large grey kitten with black spots. Her black hair is pulled into a ponytail, and she wears an olive green vest and a yellow tee shirt.

He wears a stethoscope, a grey shirt, and dark green pants.
The singer sings, NATURE'S OUR PASSION,
READY FOR ACTION.
Audrey and Jack, still carrying Tommy, run past Jonas, a man with curly red hair. He lifts a rake over his head and spins as they pass.
[Whooshing, upbeat music continues]

Audrey pulls leaves to the side and reveals Tommy in a clearing with Jack, a giraffe, an elephant, and a gazelle.

The tall iron gates in front of the Shelter are open. Audrey walks towards the veterinary clinic.
[Animal screeches]
Audrey says, HM?
Audrey walks determinedly towards the clinic.
[Gasps, huffs]
In an examination room in the clinic, Hector cuts the end of a bandage wrapped around a bat’s right wing.
[Snip]
Hector says, THERE YOU GO!
[Bat screeches]
Hector says, I KNOW IT'S A LITTLE
UNCOMFORTABLE, MINA
BUT IT'S FOR
YOUR OWN GOOD. SHH...
The bat, Mina, waves her wing up and down. Audrey opens the door and slides into the room. Hector startles and hits his head on an overhead light.
Hector shushes, SHHH.
[Click, thunk]
Audrey asks, WHAT'S GOING ON, DAD?
[Light squeaks, Hector grunts]
Hector says, HI, SWEETIE. I PUT A CAST
ON MINA'S WING.
SHE'S NOT USED TO IT YET.
Audrey exclaims, OH NO! WHAT HAPPENED
TO HER WING?
[Mina screeches, whooshing]
Hector says, WE DON'T KNOW ACTUALLY.
KARL FOUND HER OUTSIDE HER CAVE
WHEN HE WENT TO FEED THE ANIMALS
EARLIER THIS MORNING.
[Mina screeches]
Audrey says, OH, DON'T YOU WORRY, MINA.
YOU'LL BE ALL BETTER
BEFORE YOU CAN SAY BOO!
Hector says, OH, THAT'S NOT ALL, AUDREY.
MINA HAS A BABY NAMED LUCY.
I STILL HAVE SOME TESTS TO RUN.
AND KARL IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT
HOW MINA GOT HURT.
WOULD YOU MIND FEEDING LUCY?
Hector gives Audrey a baby bottle.
Audrey says, MM-HMM.
[Audrey giggles]
Audrey says, YOU GOT IT, DAD!
Audrey leaves and the light hits Hector’s forehead.
[Door slams, Hector exclaims, light squeaks]
In front of the greenhouse, Tommy hangs his red helmet on the seat of his red bicycle.
[Upbeat music plays, rustling]
Tommy says, HI, AUDREY!
Audrey says, HI THERE, TOMMY.
Audrey and Tommy enter the greenhouse and startle three birds.
[Wings flap]
Tommy asks, WHAT'S UP WITH THE BOTTLE?
Audrey says, IT'S BANANA JUICE FOR LUCY.
HER MOTHER'S IN THE CLINIC,
SO I'M BRINGING HER SOME FOOD.
WANNA COME?
Tommy says, OF COURSE!
Audrey says, THE FIRST ONE WHO GETS
TO THE RIVER WINS!
Audrey runs.
[Energetic music plays]
Tommy says, HEY! THAT'S CHEATING!
[Audrey laughs]
Audrey swings on a vine.
Audrey cheers, YA HA!
Tommy shouts, WAIT UP!
Babou, a proboscis monkey, dives into a bush. The vine swings and stops over a rock.
[Chirping, Babou grumbles, leaves rustle]
Audrey slides down the vine. Tommy arrives, sweating.
[Tommy pants]
Tommy says, OKAY, YOU WIN.
Behind Audrey, Babou peers out of the bushes. He reaches for the baby bottle but Audrey carries it with her as she jumps off the vine.
[Audrey chuckles, Babou chews, grumbles]
Audrey says, COME ON, TOMMY.
LUCY MUST BE HUNGRY.
Tommy says, WAIT A SEC... WHAT KIND
OF ANIMAL IS LUCY?
Audrey jumps on rocks to cross a stream.
[Soft music plays, rustling, birds chirp]
Audrey says, SHE'S A BABY GIANT BAT!
[Tense music plays]
Tommy says, HUH? A GIANT,
WHOA, WHOA...
Tommy falls into the stream.
[Splashing]
Audrey says, ARE YOU ALL RIGHT?
Tommy says, UH... YEAH, I'M GOOD!
[Splashing, Tommy chuckles]
Soaking wet, Tommy follows Audrey through the forest.
[Playful music plays, footsteps rustle, water sloshes]
Tommy says, AW, MAN!
Audrey says to a monkey, HI THERE, MARCELLO!
[Marcello chitters, soft music plays]
Tommy says, BUT I ALWAYS THOUGHT
THAT BATS LIVED IN COLONIES.
Audrey says, YEAH! THERE ARE OVER A HUNDRED
GIANT BATS HERE AT THE SHELTER.
Tommy says, HUH?
[Gulps nervously]
Tommy says, AND... THE BABY BAT
LIVES IN THE COLONY
ALONG WITH
THE OTHERS? HM?
Audrey says, MM-HMM.
Tommy says, UH, AND UH EXACTLY
HOW BIG ARE THESE
GIANT BATS WE'RE VISITING?
LIKE THIS?
Tommy holds his fingers centimetres apart.
Audrey says, NO WAY! MUCH BIGGER.
Tommy says, UM...
SO, ARE THEY LIKE THIS?
Tommy moves his fingers apart by a couple of centimetres.
[Audrey laughs]
Audrey says, NOT A CHANCE! THEY'RE CALLED
GIANT FOR A REASON!
BIGGER. THEY'RE LIKE
THIS BIG AT LEAST!
Audrey spreads her arms wide.
Tommy says, OOOF...
Audrey says, COME ON. YOU DON'T HAVE
A FEAR OF BATS, DO YOU?
Tommy says, UH... OF COURSE NOT!
NOT AT ALL!
[Chuckles nervously]
Tommy says, NOT ME.
I WAS JUST CURIOUS.
[Sighs]
Audrey says, WELL THAT'S GOOD,
BECAUSE WE'RE HERE!
Audrey enters a cave.
[Suspenseful music plays]
Audrey says, YOU'LL SEE. THEY'RE REALLY
CUTE! COME ON!
[Audrey chuckles, birds chirp]
Tommy says, REALLY CUTE, HUH?
YEAH, WHATEVER YOU SAY, AUDREY.
[Gulps nervously]
Tommy follows Audrey into the cave. He walks wide-eyed, holding his hands close to his chest.
[Eerie music plays, shuddering]
Tommy says, UH, IT'S REALLY DARK IN HERE!
LET'S GO BACK OUTSIDE!
Audrey says, HERE YOU GO!
Audrey gives Tommy a flashlight. He turns it on.
[Click]
Tommy says, OH, THANKS.
SHE'S NOT IN HERE!
Audrey says, WE NEED TO GO IN A BIT MORE.
[Tommy sighs, groans]
Tommy says, UH, MAYBE ALL OF THE BATS
MOVED OUT INTO A--
Audrey says, SHHH!
Audrey points upwards.
[Audrey grunts]
Tommy shines the flashlight on a bat.
Tommy says, OH BOY...
[Shivering]
Audrey says, YOU SEE? THEY'RE SO CUTE!
[Squeaking]
Audrey says, YOU'RE WAKING HER UP!
TURN OFF
THE FLASHLIGHT, TOMMY!
TOMMY?
Tommy sits behind Audrey with one hand covering one of his eyes.
[Tommy whimpers, Lucy screeches, Tommy screams]
Audrey says, SHHH! YOU'RE GONNA WAKE
UP THE WHOLE COLONY!
Yellow eyes open and glow in the darkness.
[Suspenseful music plays, squeaking, muffled whimpering]
Audrey says, HEY! CALM DOWN!
Tommy knocks the baby bottle out of Audrey’s hand, and it spills on the cave floor. He runs away into the darkness.
[Tommy screams]
Tommy shouts, THE GIANT BATS
ARE GOING TO EAT ME!
[Audrey sighs]
Audrey looks at the spilt banana juice.
Audrey says, HUH?
At the cave entrance, Tommy stands sweating.
[Panting, birds chirp]
Tommy says, HM, AUDREY?
Tommy shouts, AUDREY?!
Audrey leaves the cave carrying the baby bottle.
Tommy says, OH! I'M SO SORRY I LEFT
YOU ALL ALONE IN THE CAVE!
IS EVERYTHING ALL RIGHT?
THEY DIDN'T BITE YOU
OR ANYTHING?
Audrey asks, WHY IN THE WORLD
WOULD THEY BITE?
THOSE BATS WE SAW
EAT NOTHING BUT FRUIT!
Tommy says, YEAH, I KNOW GIANT BATS
ARE FRUIT EATERS,
BUT THEY WERE LIKE...
Tommy waves his arms.
[He growls]
Audrey asks, WELL YEAH, BUT THAT'S
BECAUSE WE DISTURBED THEM!
WHY'D YOU START YELLING
LIKE THAT THEN?
[Soft music plays]
Tommy says, BECAUSE...
UH, BECAUSE... OH.
BECAUSE I'M REALLY
SCARED OF BATS.
Audrey asks, WELL, WHY DIDN'T YOU
SAY ANYTHING THEN?
Tommy says, I DON'T REALLY KNOW.
IT'S A BIT EMBARRASSING.
Audrey says, IT'S OKAY! JUST YOU WAIT.
THEY'RE ACTUALLY REALLY SWEET!
ALL RIGHT.
LET'S GO GET ANOTHER BOTTLE
AND THEN WE'LL COME BACK.
[Tommy groans]
In the clinic, Hector picks up a purple berry.
Hector says, OKAY, MINA.
ARE YOU READY? LET'S GO!
HERE COMES THE PLANE!
[Imitates airplane engine whirr, chuckles]
Audrey and Tommy say, UH...
[Mina squeaks, Audrey and Tommy giggle]
Hector says, AH, HELLO, KIDS.
I'M GIVINGMINA HER LUNCH.
AND HOW'S LUCY DOING?
DID SHE HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT?
Audrey waves the empty bottle.
[Whooshing]
Audrey says, UH, WELL... THERE WAS
A LITTLE ACCIDENT.
Hector says, OH NO! WHAT HAPPENED
OUT THERE? DID YOU TWO
HORSE AROUND AND SPILL THE JUICE?
[Soft music plays]
Audrey says, NO! THAT'S NOT WHAT, UH...
WELL, IT'S MY FAULT IT SPILLED.
BUT WE'LL JUST REFILL THE BOTTLE AND--
Karl appears at the clinic window.
Karl says, HECTOR! I THINK I KNOW
HOW MINA HURT HERSELF.
SHE WAS TRYING TO SCARE
OFF BABOU!
HE'S BEEN STEALING
THE BATS' FOOD!
Hector says, NOT AGAIN! THAT LITTLE CROOK!
WELL, LET'S GO MAKE SURE
HE'S NOT STEALING
THE OTHER ANIMALS' FOOD TOO.
WOULD YOU TWO KIDS LIKE
TO KEEP FEEDING MINA?
Audrey says, MM-HMM.
[Tommy groans]
Hector says, OKAY, WAIT FOR ME, KARL!
Audrey says, WELL, THIS IS A GREAT CHANCE
FOR YOU TO GET OVER YOUR FEAR!
[Tommy groans]
Mina chews. Tommy carefully holds a berry in a clamp.
Audrey says, YOU SEE? SHE'S NOT
GOING TO HURT YOU.
THERE'S REALLY NOTHING
TO BE SCARED OF, TOMMY!
[Mina squeaks, Tommy screams]
Tommy drops the clamp and runs. He hides behind the open door.
Tommy says, SORRY AUDREY,
I JUST CAN'T HELP IT!
Audrey says, HAVE ANOTHER BITE, MINA!
THIS IS STILL A GOOD START.
YOU'RE IN THE SAME
ROOM AS A BAT
AND YOU HAVEN'T EVEN RUN AWAY.
NOT FAR, ANYWAY.
WE CAN BUILD ON THAT!
I HAVE TO GO BACK AND FEED
LUCY. YOU COMING WITH?
OR WOULD YOU RATHER
STAY HERE WITH MINA?
[Mina squeaks]
Tommy sweats.
Tommy says, UH... I'M COMING WITH YOU.
In the forest in the greenhouse, a green bird eats a worm.
[Creaking]
Hector and Karl peer between leaves on a bush.
[Rustling, suspenseful music plays]
Hector says, LOOK, THERE HE IS...
Babou sits on a tree branch. A hole in the tree trunk behind him is stuffed with fruit.
[Babou chews]
Hector says, BABOU! WHAT IS ALL THIS?
Babou flees, jumping from tree to tree. Karl climbs up to the hole in the tree.
[Babou screeches, Karl grunts]
Karl says, WE COULD FEED HALF THE SHELTER
WITH ALL THE FRUIT
HE'S GOT UP HERE!
[Groans]
Karl says, I GUESS I'M GOING
TO HAVE TO REDISTRIBUTE
ALL THIS FOOD.
Sophie the sloth sleeps hanging upside down from a tree branch.
[Sophie snores]
Audrey carries the bottle into the cave. Tommy stops at the entrance.
[Tense music plays, birds chirp]
Tommy says, I'LL JUST WAIT FOR
YOU RIGHT OUT HERE.
Audrey asks, ARE YOU SURE?
Tommy says, MM-HMM.
Audrey says, THEY'RE NOT GONNA HURT YOU.
Tommy says, OH YEAH, I'M SURE.
In the cave, Audrey carries the flashlight and points it towards the ground in the cave. She stops under Lucy.
[Eerie music plays]
Audrey says, AW!
[Lucy squeaks]
Audrey says softly, HELLO THERE, LUCY.
[Tense music plays]
Audrey picks up Lucy and cradles her in the crook of her right arm.
Audrey says, YOU MUST BE SO HUNGRY.
[Lucy squeaks]
Audrey says, HM.
Standing at the cave entrance, Tommy looks inside.
[Tense music plays]
Tommy says, AUDREY? HOW'S IT GOING
IN THERE?
IF YOU'RE OKAY,
DON'T SAY ANYTHING!
[Babou squawks]
Tommy says, HUH? HUH?
Babou hangs off a tree branch behind Tommy. Babou drops to the ground and approaches the cave.
[Rustling, tense music plays]
Tommy says, DON'T EVEN THINK
ABOUT IT, BABOU!
YOU'RE NOT BOTHERING
THOSE BATS ANYMORE!
GO ON! OH!
Babou jumps over Tommy and leaps into the cave.
Tommy says, STOP! AUDREY'S INSIDE THE CAVE!
[Babou screeches, Tommy whimpers, gulps]
Tommy stares into the dark cave.
[Eerie music plays, restrained whimpering]
Tommy says, UH! COME ON, TOMMY!
YOU'VE GOTTA GO IN THERE!
Tommy walks into the cave.
[Groans]
Tommy says, NO!
Tommy turns around and walks towards the entrance of the cave. He stops.
[Gulps]
Tommy walks back into the cave.
[Whimpering]
Deeper in the cave, Audrey sits on a rock and feeds Lucy with the baby bottle.
[Gulping]
Audrey asks, IS THAT GOOD, LUCY?
[Babou squawks, soft music plays]
Audrey says, HM?
[Babou grunts]
Audrey says, BABOU? WHAT ARE YOU
DOING IN HERE?
[Babou grunts]
Audrey says, NO, THIS
ISN'T FOR YOU!
Babou reaches for the baby bottle, and Audrey moves it away.
[Babou screeches, whoosh]
Audrey says, HEY, STOP!
Babou hits the ground. On the cave ceiling, bats open their eyes.
[Babou screeches, tense music plays]
Audrey says, HUH? UH, OH.
[Babou screeches, bats squeak, Audrey gasps]
Bats take off and fly around the cave.
[Flapping]
Audrey says, OH, OH NO!
Babou grabs the baby bottle and runs.
Audrey says, HEY!
She shouts, BABOU!
[Bats squeak, tense music plays]
Babou runs past Tommy, carrying the baby bottle.
[Tommy shouts, Babou screeches]
Tommy says, OH! AUDREY!
AUDREY, WHERE ARE YOU?
Audrey says, TOMMY!? OVER HERE!
Tommy notices the bats flying around the cave.
[Tommy screams, frantic flapping]
Tommy says, THEY'RE NOT GOING
TO HURT ME...
THEY'RE NOT GOING TO HURT ME...
He shouts, AUDREY, I'M COMING!
Tommy runs deeper into the cave.
[Nervous whimpering, bats squeak]
Tommy shouts, AUDREY, WHERE ARE YOU?
[Nervous scream]
Tommy says, AUDREY! I'M HERE!
Audrey says, HM? TOMMY?
I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU CAME FOR ME!
Audrey hugs Tommy.
[Rustling, bats squeak]
Audrey asks, SO YOU'RE NOT AFRAID ANYMORE?
Tommy says, UH, I DON'T KNOW
ABOUT THAT,
BUT THERE WAS NO CHOICE.
I HAD TO HELP.
[He screams, tense music plays]
Tommy says, BUT NOW, I'D REALLY LIKE
US TO GET OUT OF HERE.
YOU COMING?
Audrey holds Tommy’s hand.
[Audrey chuckles]
Tommy says, COME ON. THIS IS THE WAY OUT.
Tommy and Audrey walk beneath the panicking bats.
[Nervous whimpering, squeaking continues, tense music continues]
Tommy says, THAT'S IT!
Tommy and Audrey walk out of the cave. Audrey carries Lucy.
[Tommy exhales heavily]
Audrey says, HM?
[Babou squawks]
Audrey says, HM? BABOU, THAT'S ENOUGH!
Audrey gives Lucy to Tommy and stomps to Babou. Tommy holds Lucy out at arm’s length.
[Audrey huffs, Tommy whimpers]
Tommy opens one eye and looks at Lucy. Babou carries the bottle as he leaps away from Audrey.
[Babou squawks, playful music plays]
Babou sits and drinks from the bottle. Audrey runs towards him. Babou stands and runs away.
[Grunting, huffing, panting, playful music continues]
Babou runs away from Audrey. He runs into Jack’s arm and drops the baby bottle.
[Thump, Babou grumbles]
Babou runs past Audrey.
[Audrey giggles]
Audrey picks up the baby bottle. She hugs Jack.
Audrey says, THANK YOU, JACK! I'LL GIVE
THIS BOTTLE TO LUCY.
[Jack ooks]
Audrey walks back to Tommy.
Audrey says, SO, ARE YOU FINALLY READY
TO FEED YOUR FIRST GIANT BAT?
Tommy says, UH... YEAH, I THINK SO.
LET'S SEE.
ANYWAY... YOU'RE RIGHT
SHE IS INCREDIBLY CUTE.
Tommy feeds Lucy the bottle.
[Gulping]
Hector and Karl arrive at the cave. Hector carries Mina while Karl walks behind him, holding a box of fruit.
Hector says, HEY! IT LOOKS LIKE
SOMEONE'S FINALLY
HAVING SOMETHING TO EAT!
Audrey says, THAT'S RIGHT.
AND TOMMY EVEN GOT OVER
HIS FEAR OF BATS!
[Upbeat music plays]
Hector says, GREAT!
Tommy gives Lucy to Hector.
Tommy says, YEAH. I'M NOT AFRAID
OF THEM ANYMORE.
[Hector chuckles]
Tommy says, UH...
A bat flies out of the cave, and Tommy runs away.
[Bat screeches, Tommy screams]

Audrey and Jack, still carrying Tommy, run past Jonas, a man with curly red hair. He lifts a rake over his head and spins as they pass.

Audrey pulls leaves to the side and reveals Tommy in a clearing with Jack, a giraffe, an elephant, and a gazelle.

The tall iron gates in front of the Shelter are open. Audrey walks towards the veterinary clinic.

Audrey walks determinedly towards the clinic.
[Gasps, huffs]
In an examination room in the clinic, Hector cuts the end of a bandage wrapped around a bat’s right wing.
[Snip]
Hector says, THERE YOU GO!
[Bat screeches]
Hector says, I KNOW IT'S A LITTLE
UNCOMFORTABLE, MINA
BUT IT'S FOR
YOUR OWN GOOD. SHH...
The bat, Mina, waves her wing up and down. Audrey opens the door and slides into the room. Hector startles and hits his head on an overhead light.
Hector shushes, SHHH.
[Click, thunk]
Audrey asks, WHAT'S GOING ON, DAD?
[Light squeaks, Hector grunts]
Hector says, HI, SWEETIE. I PUT A CAST
ON MINA'S WING.
SHE'S NOT USED TO IT YET.
Audrey exclaims, OH NO! WHAT HAPPENED
TO HER WING?
[Mina screeches, whooshing]
Hector says, WE DON'T KNOW ACTUALLY.
KARL FOUND HER OUTSIDE HER CAVE
WHEN HE WENT TO FEED THE ANIMALS
EARLIER THIS MORNING.
[Mina screeches]
Audrey says, OH, DON'T YOU WORRY, MINA.
YOU'LL BE ALL BETTER
BEFORE YOU CAN SAY BOO!
Hector says, OH, THAT'S NOT ALL, AUDREY.
MINA HAS A BABY NAMED LUCY.
I STILL HAVE SOME TESTS TO RUN.
AND KARL IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT
HOW MINA GOT HURT.
WOULD YOU MIND FEEDING LUCY?
Hector gives Audrey a baby bottle.
Audrey says, MM-HMM.
[Audrey giggles]
Audrey says, YOU GOT IT, DAD!
Audrey leaves and the light hits Hector’s forehead.
[Door slams, Hector exclaims, light squeaks]
In front of the greenhouse, Tommy hangs his red helmet on the seat of his red bicycle.
[Upbeat music plays, rustling]
Tommy says, HI, AUDREY!
Audrey says, HI THERE, TOMMY.
Audrey and Tommy enter the greenhouse and startle three birds.
[Wings flap]
Tommy asks, WHAT'S UP WITH THE BOTTLE?
Audrey says, IT'S BANANA JUICE FOR LUCY.
HER MOTHER'S IN THE CLINIC,
SO I'M BRINGING HER SOME FOOD.
WANNA COME?
Tommy says, OF COURSE!
Audrey says, THE FIRST ONE WHO GETS
TO THE RIVER WINS!
Audrey runs.
[Energetic music plays]
Tommy says, HEY! THAT'S CHEATING!
[Audrey laughs]
Audrey swings on a vine.
Audrey cheers, YA HA!
Tommy shouts, WAIT UP!
Babou, a proboscis monkey, dives into a bush. The vine swings and stops over a rock.
[Chirping, Babou grumbles, leaves rustle]
Audrey slides down the vine. Tommy arrives, sweating.
[Tommy pants]
Tommy says, OKAY, YOU WIN.
Behind Audrey, Babou peers out of the bushes. He reaches for the baby bottle but Audrey carries it with her as she jumps off the vine.
[Audrey chuckles, Babou chews, grumbles]
Audrey says, COME ON, TOMMY.
LUCY MUST BE HUNGRY.
Tommy says, WAIT A SEC... WHAT KIND
OF ANIMAL IS LUCY?
Audrey jumps on rocks to cross a stream.
[Soft music plays, rustling, birds chirp]
Audrey says, SHE'S A BABY GIANT BAT!
[Tense music plays]
Tommy says, HUH? A GIANT,
WHOA, WHOA...
Tommy falls into the stream.
[Splashing]
Audrey says, ARE YOU ALL RIGHT?
Tommy says, UH... YEAH, I'M GOOD!
[Splashing, Tommy chuckles]
Soaking wet, Tommy follows Audrey through the forest.
[Playful music plays, footsteps rustle, water sloshes]
Tommy says, AW, MAN!
Audrey says to a monkey, HI THERE, MARCELLO!
[Marcello chitters, soft music plays]
Tommy says, BUT I ALWAYS THOUGHT
THAT BATS LIVED IN COLONIES.
Audrey says, YEAH! THERE ARE OVER A HUNDRED
GIANT BATS HERE AT THE SHELTER.
Tommy says, HUH?
[Gulps nervously]
Tommy says, AND... THE BABY BAT
LIVES IN THE COLONY
ALONG WITH
THE OTHERS? HM?
Audrey says, MM-HMM.
Tommy says, UH, AND UH EXACTLY
HOW BIG ARE THESE
GIANT BATS WE'RE VISITING?
LIKE THIS?
Tommy holds his fingers centimetres apart.
Audrey says, NO WAY! MUCH BIGGER.
Tommy says, UM...
SO, ARE THEY LIKE THIS?
Tommy moves his fingers apart by a couple of centimetres.
[Audrey laughs]
Audrey says, NOT A CHANCE! THEY'RE CALLED
GIANT FOR A REASON!
BIGGER. THEY'RE LIKE
THIS BIG AT LEAST!
Audrey spreads her arms wide.
Tommy says, OOOF...
Audrey says, COME ON. YOU DON'T HAVE
A FEAR OF BATS, DO YOU?
Tommy says, UH... OF COURSE NOT!
NOT AT ALL!
[Chuckles nervously]
Tommy says, NOT ME.
I WAS JUST CURIOUS.
[Sighs]
Audrey says, WELL THAT'S GOOD,
BECAUSE WE'RE HERE!
Audrey enters a cave.
[Suspenseful music plays]
Audrey says, YOU'LL SEE. THEY'RE REALLY
CUTE! COME ON!
[Audrey chuckles, birds chirp]
Tommy says, REALLY CUTE, HUH?
YEAH, WHATEVER YOU SAY, AUDREY.
[Gulps nervously]
Tommy follows Audrey into the cave. He walks wide-eyed, holding his hands close to his chest.
[Eerie music plays, shuddering]
Tommy says, UH, IT'S REALLY DARK IN HERE!
LET'S GO BACK OUTSIDE!
Audrey says, HERE YOU GO!
Audrey gives Tommy a flashlight. He turns it on.
[Click]
Tommy says, OH, THANKS.
SHE'S NOT IN HERE!
Audrey says, WE NEED TO GO IN A BIT MORE.
[Tommy sighs, groans]
Tommy says, UH, MAYBE ALL OF THE BATS
MOVED OUT INTO A--
Audrey says, SHHH!
Audrey points upwards.
[Audrey grunts]
Tommy shines the flashlight on a bat.
Tommy says, OH BOY...
[Shivering]
Audrey says, YOU SEE? THEY'RE SO CUTE!
[Squeaking]
Audrey says, YOU'RE WAKING HER UP!
TURN OFF
THE FLASHLIGHT, TOMMY!
TOMMY?
Tommy sits behind Audrey with one hand covering one of his eyes.
[Tommy whimpers, Lucy screeches, Tommy screams]
Audrey says, SHHH! YOU'RE GONNA WAKE
UP THE WHOLE COLONY!
Yellow eyes open and glow in the darkness.
[Suspenseful music plays, squeaking, muffled whimpering]
Audrey says, HEY! CALM DOWN!
Tommy knocks the baby bottle out of Audrey’s hand, and it spills on the cave floor. He runs away into the darkness.
[Tommy screams]
Tommy shouts, THE GIANT BATS
ARE GOING TO EAT ME!
[Audrey sighs]
Audrey looks at the spilt banana juice.
Audrey says, HUH?
At the cave entrance, Tommy stands sweating.
[Panting, birds chirp]
Tommy says, HM, AUDREY?
Tommy shouts, AUDREY?!
Audrey leaves the cave carrying the baby bottle.
Tommy says, OH! I'M SO SORRY I LEFT
YOU ALL ALONE IN THE CAVE!
IS EVERYTHING ALL RIGHT?
THEY DIDN'T BITE YOU
OR ANYTHING?
Audrey asks, WHY IN THE WORLD
WOULD THEY BITE?
THOSE BATS WE SAW
EAT NOTHING BUT FRUIT!
Tommy says, YEAH, I KNOW GIANT BATS
ARE FRUIT EATERS,
BUT THEY WERE LIKE...
Tommy waves his arms.
[He growls]
Audrey asks, WELL YEAH, BUT THAT'S
BECAUSE WE DISTURBED THEM!
WHY'D YOU START YELLING
LIKE THAT THEN?
[Soft music plays]
Tommy says, BECAUSE...
UH, BECAUSE... OH.
BECAUSE I'M REALLY
SCARED OF BATS.
Audrey asks, WELL, WHY DIDN'T YOU
SAY ANYTHING THEN?
Tommy says, I DON'T REALLY KNOW.
IT'S A BIT EMBARRASSING.
Audrey says, IT'S OKAY! JUST YOU WAIT.
THEY'RE ACTUALLY REALLY SWEET!
ALL RIGHT.
LET'S GO GET ANOTHER BOTTLE
AND THEN WE'LL COME BACK.
[Tommy groans]
In the clinic, Hector picks up a purple berry.
Hector says, OKAY, MINA.
ARE YOU READY? LET'S GO!
HERE COMES THE PLANE!
[Imitates airplane engine whirr, chuckles]
Audrey and Tommy say, UH...
[Mina squeaks, Audrey and Tommy giggle]
Hector says, AH, HELLO, KIDS.
I'M GIVINGMINA HER LUNCH.
AND HOW'S LUCY DOING?
DID SHE HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT?
Audrey waves the empty bottle.
[Whooshing]
Audrey says, UH, WELL... THERE WAS
A LITTLE ACCIDENT.
Hector says, OH NO! WHAT HAPPENED
OUT THERE? DID YOU TWO
HORSE AROUND AND SPILL THE JUICE?
[Soft music plays]
Audrey says, NO! THAT'S NOT WHAT, UH...
WELL, IT'S MY FAULT IT SPILLED.
BUT WE'LL JUST REFILL THE BOTTLE AND--
Karl appears at the clinic window.
Karl says, HECTOR! I THINK I KNOW
HOW MINA HURT HERSELF.
SHE WAS TRYING TO SCARE
OFF BABOU!
HE'S BEEN STEALING
THE BATS' FOOD!
Hector says, NOT AGAIN! THAT LITTLE CROOK!
WELL, LET'S GO MAKE SURE
HE'S NOT STEALING
THE OTHER ANIMALS' FOOD TOO.
WOULD YOU TWO KIDS LIKE
TO KEEP FEEDING MINA?
Audrey says, MM-HMM.
[Tommy groans]
Hector says, OKAY, WAIT FOR ME, KARL!
Audrey says, WELL, THIS IS A GREAT CHANCE
FOR YOU TO GET OVER YOUR FEAR!
[Tommy groans]
Mina chews. Tommy carefully holds a berry in a clamp.
Audrey says, YOU SEE? SHE'S NOT
GOING TO HURT YOU.
THERE'S REALLY NOTHING
TO BE SCARED OF, TOMMY!
[Mina squeaks, Tommy screams]
Tommy drops the clamp and runs. He hides behind the open door.
Tommy says, SORRY AUDREY,
I JUST CAN'T HELP IT!
Audrey says, HAVE ANOTHER BITE, MINA!
THIS IS STILL A GOOD START.
YOU'RE IN THE SAME
ROOM AS A BAT
AND YOU HAVEN'T EVEN RUN AWAY.
NOT FAR, ANYWAY.
WE CAN BUILD ON THAT!
I HAVE TO GO BACK AND FEED
LUCY. YOU COMING WITH?
OR WOULD YOU RATHER
STAY HERE WITH MINA?
[Mina squeaks]
Tommy sweats.
Tommy says, UH... I'M COMING WITH YOU.
In the forest in the greenhouse, a green bird eats a worm.
[Creaking]
Hector and Karl peer between leaves on a bush.
[Rustling, suspenseful music plays]
Hector says, LOOK, THERE HE IS...
Babou sits on a tree branch. A hole in the tree trunk behind him is stuffed with fruit.
[Babou chews]
Hector says, BABOU! WHAT IS ALL THIS?
Babou flees, jumping from tree to tree. Karl climbs up to the hole in the tree.
[Babou screeches, Karl grunts]
Karl says, WE COULD FEED HALF THE SHELTER
WITH ALL THE FRUIT
HE'S GOT UP HERE!
[Groans]
Karl says, I GUESS I'M GOING
TO HAVE TO REDISTRIBUTE
ALL THIS FOOD.
Sophie the sloth sleeps hanging upside down from a tree branch.
[Sophie snores]
Audrey carries the bottle into the cave. Tommy stops at the entrance.
[Tense music plays, birds chirp]
Tommy says, I'LL JUST WAIT FOR
YOU RIGHT OUT HERE.
Audrey asks, ARE YOU SURE?
Tommy says, MM-HMM.
Audrey says, THEY'RE NOT GONNA HURT YOU.
Tommy says, OH YEAH, I'M SURE.
In the cave, Audrey carries the flashlight and points it towards the ground in the cave. She stops under Lucy.
[Eerie music plays]
Audrey says, AW!
[Lucy squeaks]
Audrey says softly, HELLO THERE, LUCY.
[Tense music plays]
Audrey picks up Lucy and cradles her in the crook of her right arm.
Audrey says, YOU MUST BE SO HUNGRY.
[Lucy squeaks]
Audrey says, HM.
Standing at the cave entrance, Tommy looks inside.
[Tense music plays]
Tommy says, AUDREY? HOW'S IT GOING
IN THERE?
IF YOU'RE OKAY,
DON'T SAY ANYTHING!
[Babou squawks]
Tommy says, HUH? HUH?
Babou hangs off a tree branch behind Tommy. Babou drops to the ground and approaches the cave.
[Rustling, tense music plays]
Tommy says, DON'T EVEN THINK
ABOUT IT, BABOU!
YOU'RE NOT BOTHERING
THOSE BATS ANYMORE!
GO ON! OH!
Babou jumps over Tommy and leaps into the cave.
Tommy says, STOP! AUDREY'S INSIDE THE CAVE!
[Babou screeches, Tommy whimpers, gulps]
Tommy stares into the dark cave.
[Eerie music plays, restrained whimpering]
Tommy says, UH! COME ON, TOMMY!
YOU'VE GOTTA GO IN THERE!
Tommy walks into the cave.
[Groans]
Tommy says, NO!
Tommy turns around and walks towards the entrance of the cave. He stops.
[Gulps]
Tommy walks back into the cave.
[Whimpering]
Deeper in the cave, Audrey sits on a rock and feeds Lucy with the baby bottle.
[Gulping]
Audrey asks, IS THAT GOOD, LUCY?
[Babou squawks, soft music plays]
Audrey says, HM?
[Babou grunts]
Audrey says, BABOU? WHAT ARE YOU
DOING IN HERE?
[Babou grunts]
Audrey says, NO, THIS
ISN'T FOR YOU!
Babou reaches for the baby bottle, and Audrey moves it away.
[Babou screeches, whoosh]
Audrey says, HEY, STOP!
Babou hits the ground. On the cave ceiling, bats open their eyes.
[Babou screeches, tense music plays]
Audrey says, HUH? UH, OH.
[Babou screeches, bats squeak, Audrey gasps]
Bats take off and fly around the cave.
[Flapping]
Audrey says, OH, OH NO!
Babou grabs the baby bottle and runs.
Audrey says, HEY!
She shouts, BABOU!
[Bats squeak, tense music plays]
Babou runs past Tommy, carrying the baby bottle.
[Tommy shouts, Babou screeches]
Tommy says, OH! AUDREY!
AUDREY, WHERE ARE YOU?
Audrey says, TOMMY!? OVER HERE!
Tommy notices the bats flying around the cave.
[Tommy screams, frantic flapping]
Tommy says, THEY'RE NOT GOING
TO HURT ME...
THEY'RE NOT GOING TO HURT ME...
He shouts, AUDREY, I'M COMING!
Tommy runs deeper into the cave.
[Nervous whimpering, bats squeak]
Tommy shouts, AUDREY, WHERE ARE YOU?
[Nervous scream]
Tommy says, AUDREY! I'M HERE!
Audrey says, HM? TOMMY?
I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU CAME FOR ME!
Audrey hugs Tommy.
[Rustling, bats squeak]
Audrey asks, SO YOU'RE NOT AFRAID ANYMORE?
Tommy says, UH, I DON'T KNOW
ABOUT THAT,
BUT THERE WAS NO CHOICE.
I HAD TO HELP.
[He screams, tense music plays]
Tommy says, BUT NOW, I'D REALLY LIKE
US TO GET OUT OF HERE.
YOU COMING?
Audrey holds Tommy’s hand.
[Audrey chuckles]
Tommy says, COME ON. THIS IS THE WAY OUT.
Tommy and Audrey walk beneath the panicking bats.
[Nervous whimpering, squeaking continues, tense music continues]
Tommy says, THAT'S IT!
Tommy and Audrey walk out of the cave. Audrey carries Lucy.
[Tommy exhales heavily]
Audrey says, HM?
[Babou squawks]
Audrey says, HM? BABOU, THAT'S ENOUGH!
Audrey gives Lucy to Tommy and stomps to Babou. Tommy holds Lucy out at arm’s length.
[Audrey huffs, Tommy whimpers]
Tommy opens one eye and looks at Lucy. Babou carries the bottle as he leaps away from Audrey.
[Babou squawks, playful music plays]
Babou sits and drinks from the bottle. Audrey runs towards him. Babou stands and runs away.
[Grunting, huffing, panting, playful music continues]
Babou runs away from Audrey. He runs into Jack’s arm and drops the baby bottle.
[Thump, Babou grumbles]
Babou runs past Audrey.
[Audrey giggles]
Audrey picks up the baby bottle. She hugs Jack.
Audrey says, THANK YOU, JACK! I'LL GIVE
THIS BOTTLE TO LUCY.
[Jack ooks]
Audrey walks back to Tommy.
Audrey says, SO, ARE YOU FINALLY READY
TO FEED YOUR FIRST GIANT BAT?
Tommy says, UH... YEAH, I THINK SO.
LET'S SEE.
ANYWAY... YOU'RE RIGHT
SHE IS INCREDIBLY CUTE.
Tommy feeds Lucy the bottle.
[Gulping]
Hector and Karl arrive at the cave. Hector carries Mina while Karl walks behind him, holding a box of fruit.
Hector says, HEY! IT LOOKS LIKE
SOMEONE'S FINALLY
HAVING SOMETHING TO EAT!
Audrey says, THAT'S RIGHT.
AND TOMMY EVEN GOT OVER
HIS FEAR OF BATS!
[Upbeat music plays]
Hector says, GREAT!
Tommy gives Lucy to Hector.
Tommy says, YEAH. I'M NOT AFRAID
OF THEM ANYMORE.
[Hector chuckles]
Tommy says, UH...
A bat flies out of the cave, and Tommy runs away.
[Bat screeches, Tommy screams]
[Karl, Hector, and Audrey laugh]
[A bat squeaks]
