[Upbeat music plays]

The tall iron gates in front of the Shelter are open. On the path to the greenhouse, Sonia leans over a young boy with blond hair.

[Sonia laughs, birds chirp]

In the greenhouse, Audrey and Tommy carry paint cans to a work table beside a wooden shed. The shed has a bulletin board attached to the side. Behind the shed is a smaller three-storey greenhouse. They put the cans down. Pink paint drops down the side of one can, and blue paint drips down the side of the other can. On the table, Toupie, an orange, green, and blue parrot, moves away from the paint cans.

[Dripping, clunk, squawking]

Tommy says, THERE WE GO!

[He chuckles]

Tommy says, OUR TOP SECRET PROJECT
IS FINALLY FINISHED!

Audrey and Tommy high-five. Toupie spreads his wings.

[Hands slap, Toupie squawks]

Audrey says, AND NOW
WE'LL BE ABLE TO ENJOY IT!

[Toupie trills]

Audrey says, OOPS! SORRY, TOUPIE!
DID WE SCARE YOU?

Toupie picks up a paintbrush with pink paint on the tip. He paints on the table.

Tommy asks YOU WANT TO PAINT A PICTURE?

[He laughs]

Tommy says I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE
HOW IT TURNS OUT!

Audrey says KEA PARROTS ARE SUPER SMART,
WHATEVER IT IS,
IT'LL BE BEAUTIFUL!

Sonia says, AUDREY! GUESS WHO
CAME TO VISIT US?

The blond-haired boy pokes his head around a bush and smiles. He wears a green tee shirt.

[Alex giggles]

Audrey says, OH. GREAT TO SEE YOU, ALEX.
TOMMY, THIS IS MY COUSIN ALEX.

[Alex giggles, birds chirp]

Audrey whispers, THE LAST TIME
HE WAS HERE, IT TOOK ME
FOREVER TO GET ALL THE BANANA
OUT OF JACK'S FUR.

[Alex giggles]

Sonia asks, WOULD YOU LIKE TO SHOW
HIM THE REFUGE?

Audrey says, ALRIGHT!

Tommy says, YEAH, SURE!

Sonia says, HAVE FUN YOU THREE!

The blond-haired boy, Alex, says, THAT BIRD IS SO COOL
LOOKING! HELLO!

Alex runs to the table. Toupie takes off and flies to a tree branch.

[Toupie squawks, tense music plays, flapping]

Alex says, NO WORRIES. I'LL SEE
YOU LATER BIRDY!

WOW! LOOK AT ALL THESE TOOLS!

HEY, WHAT'S THAT?
THIS ONE'S FUNNY, LOOK AT IT!

Alex puts tools on the table.

[Clunking, squeaking]

Alex continues, OH! THIS ONE'S EVEN
FUNNIER, WOW!

Audrey whispers, ALEX NEVER STOPS GOING,
HE'S ALWAYS REALLY HYPER
LIKE THAT, I'M TELLING YA,
TWENTY-FOUR SEVEN.

[Alex chatters, whooshing]

Audrey says, PUT THAT BACK, ALEX!
WE'VE GOT SOMETHING
REALLY AWESOME TO SHOW YOU!

Alex asks, BETTER THAN THIS?
WHERE IS IT?!

Alex turns and runs away from Audrey. Audrey lunges and grabs Alex.

Alex says, WHOA.

Audrey takes Alex’s hand and leads him away from the shed and table.

[Audrey hums]

A grey sugar glider glides down to the can of pink paint.

[Chirping, whoosh]

Alex says, WOW! HAHA! WHAT IS THAT? A FLYING SQUIRREL?!

Tommy explains THAT'S STICKY, HE'S A SUGAR GLIDER. THEY'RE KNOWN FOR GLIDING.

[Alex gasps, creaking]

Audrey grabs Alex’s hand and leads him away from the table.

Audrey says, OKAY, LET'S GO!
LET'S LEAVE HIM IN PEACE.

Toupie takes off from the branch.

[Squawking, flapping]

Alex runs in front of Audrey and Tommy.

[Alex laughs, animals call]

Alex asks, WOW! WHAT'RE THEY?

Two blue birds fly away from Alex.

[Chirping, flapping]

Alex says, OH, LOOK AT THAT!
DID YOU SEE THIS ONE?

Hops, a rock wallaby, leaps away from Alex.

[Rustling, birds chirp, upbeat music plays]

Audrey says, ALEX, I KNOW THE REFUGE
IS REALLY EXCITING, BUT--

Alex says, NO, NO, NO!
SUPER MEGA EXCITING!

Audrey says, YEAH. BUT, COULD YOU
PLEASE TRY NOT TO DISTURB
THE ANIMALS SO MUCH?

[Alex grumbles]

A sloth hangs from a tree branch.

Alex says, HEY, IS THAT A REAL
SLOTH HANGING THERE?

Tommy says, YES. HER NAME IS SOPHIE.

Alex says, HELLO, SOPHIE!
MY NAME'S ALEX!

I CAN BE A SLOTH TOO, SEE? LOOK!

Alex hangs from a tree branch and shakes the tree.

[Alex laughs, rustling, Sophie squeaks, Audrey groans]

Audrey says, SHHH! SHE'S TRYING
TO NAP! DON'T YOU REMEMBER?
WE HAVE SOMETHING
INCREDIBLE TO SHOW YOU.

Alex says, SORRY, SOPHIE!
HAVE SWEET DREAMS!

[Sophie squeaks]

Audrey and Tommy walk beside a stream. Alex pops up from behind leaves.

Alex shouts, HELLO!

IS THE MONKEY AROUND?
WHAT'S THAT? WOW!

Alex looks at a frog. The frog jumps into the water.

[Splash]

Alex swings on a vine over Tommy and Audrey’s heads. Audrey frowns.

Alex hollers, YA! WOHOO!

Audrey and Tommy arrive at a stone wall with a lion’s head carved into it. Water pours from the lion’s mouth and lands in a chipped stone basin and a small puddle. Alex runs past the fountain.

[Alex laughs, pants]

Audrey says, HEY, ALEX! YOU SEE THAT?!

[Chiming, water splashes]

Audrey points at a golden key on a chain beneath the lion’s head.

Alex says, WOW! WHAT'S THAT!?
IS IT A SECRET KEY?

Audrey grabs the key and chain.

[Rattling]

Alex asks, WHAT DOES IT OPEN?

Audrey hangs the key around Alex’s neck.

Audrey says YOU'LL SEE.
IT'S NOT THE ONLY ONE!
THERE ARE TWO MORE.

[Toupie squawks]

[Panting, upbeat music plays]

Tommy and Audrey grab vines and swing over the stream.

Audrey cheers, YAH!

[Whoosh]

Tommy shouts IT'S YOUR TURN, ALEX!

[Alex laughs]

Alex shouts, YAH!

WHOA! I THINK I'M STUCK!
WHOA!

Alex swings back to the middle of the stream and hangs over the water.

[Birds chirp, Alex shouts, splash, water drips]

Alex sits in knee-deep water in the stream.

[Alex laughs]

Audrey asks Tommy, YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN?
ALEX IS ALWAYS SUPER HYPER!

Tommy says, NO, NO, HE'S NOT THAT HYPER!
HE'S JUST REALLY HAPPY TO BE HERE!

THAT'S NORMAL, THE REFUGE
IS AN AWESOME PLACE!

Alex stands on the bank and shakes off the water.

[Splashing]

Alex asks, NOW WHAT DO WE DO?
WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Tommy says, OKAY, I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN NOW.

[Upbeat music plays, birds chirp]

Alex runs to a hollow log balanced on top of broken carved stones.
Alex says, WOW! HELLO...

Alex pushes his head into the log.

[Squeak]

Alex asks, ANYBODY HOME?

THERE'S AN ECHO!
IT'S REALLY, REALLY COOL GUYS!

Tommy reaches into the other end of the hollow log and takes out a key on a chain.

[Clinking]

Alex says, AWESOME! WE GOT
THE SECOND SECRET KEY!

Tommy hangs the chain around his neck.

Alex repeats, muffled, WE GOT THE SECOND ONE!

Alex’s feet stick out of the log.

[Struggling grunts, whooshing]

Audrey says, HUH?

Alex says, HELP ME!
I'M STUCK IN HERE!

[Audrey and Tommy sigh]

Alex says, I'M STUCK, GUYS!

Audrey crouches and holds Alex’s feet. Tommy crouches behind Audrey and grabs her shoulders.

Tommy counts, AND ONE...
AND TWO... AND THREE!

[Grunting, pop]

Audrey and Tommy pull Alex out of the hollow log.

Everyone exclaims, UGH!

[Rustling, groaning]

Alex runs away from Audrey and Tommy.

[Alex laughs]

Toupie watches from the top of a column.

[Toupie squawks]

Audrey says, TADA! THIS IS IT. WE'RE HERE!

Audrey pushes leaves aside and reveals a cabin in the branches of a tree.

[Birds chirp, rustling, enchanted music chimes]

Alex says, WOW! AW!

Alex leaps and hangs off a swing dangling from a tree limb.

[Swing creaks, grunting]

Audrey takes a key off a small nub on the tree trunk.

Audrey announces, AND THE LAST SECRET KEY!

[Chiming, Toupie squawks, birds chirp]

Audrey leads Tommy and Alex to a door in the tree trunk. The door has three keyholes. Audrey puts her key in the top keyhole and turns it. Tommy puts his key in the middle keyhole and turns it. Alex unlocks the bottom keyhole.

[Clicking, creaking, gentle music plays, Alex giggles]

Audrey opens the door and reveals stairs in the tree trunk.

[Creak]

Alex says, OH! TAH DAH!

Alex runs up the stairs and peers over the edge of a trapdoor in the cabin floor.

[Footsteps thump]

Alex says, OH, WOW! AW!
IT'S SO, SO, SO, SO COOL!

A small ladder leads to a bed built into the side of the house. The room also has chairs, a table, toys and a bookshelf.

[Chiming music plays]

Tommy asks, NOT BAD, HUH?

Alex asks, YOU BUILT THIS CABIN
ALL BY YOURSELVES?
I DON'T BELIEVE IT!

Audrey says WE BROUGHT EVERYTHING
INSIDE OURSELVES,
BUT MY PARENTS HELPED US
WITH THE CONSTRUCTION.

Alex says THIS CABIN IS AMAZING!

Alex jumps on the bed.

[Whoosh, thumping, upbeat music plays]

Alex says, OH, LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!

Alex grabs a soccer ball and dunks it into a basketball net. The ball falls and knocks over a barrel of sports balls.

[Panting, whoosh, clatter, gasp]

Audrey says, HEY! BE CAREFUL!

[Rope swing creaks]

Alex fixes the barrel.

[Creak]

Alex says, OOPS! I'M SORRY. WOW!

[Grunt]

Alex hops into a hammock. He points at a poster of sign language signs on the wall.

Alex says, YA! HEY, WHAT'S THAT?

Audrey explains, IT'S TO HELP TEACH
THE GORILLAS SIGN LANGUAGE.
THEN THEY CAN LEARN
TO SPEAK WITH THEIR HANDS.

Alex reaches for the poster and falls out of the hammock. He knocks the side of the poster, and it becomes crooked.

[Alex chuckles, creaking]

Alex says, WHOA!

[Thump]

Audrey says, HEY!

Tommy straightens the poster. Alex climbs the front of the bookcase.

[Chuckles, playful music plays, grunting]

Alex says, WOW!

Alex takes an apple out of a box on the top shelf of the bookcase.

[Munching]

Alex says, with his mouth full, DID YOU KNOW THERE WAS A-- A BOX WITH FOOD UP HERE?

Alex searches in the box of food. Audrey reaches up and takes him off the bookcase.

[Rattling, gasp]

Audrey says, YES, WE'RE THE ONES
WHO PUT IT THERE!

[Chirping]

Alex says, WOW!

Alex runs to a window and looks outside.

Sticky glides past the window.

[Chirping]

Alex presses his face against the glass.

Alex says, muffled, WAIT FOR ME, STICKY!
I WANNA GLIDE WITH YOU!

Alex runs down the stairs.

[Thumping, panting]

Alex runs on the ground beneath Sticky.

Audrey says, WAIT A SEC!
I JUST NEED TO CATCH MY BREATH.

I KNOW HE DOESN'T
DO IT ON PURPOSE,
BUT HE'S EXHAUSTING.

Tommy says, THAT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA.
WHAT IF HE GETS LOST?

OR... HE FALLS
INTO PEARL'S ENCLOSURE?

[Tommy whimpers]

Audrey says, MM! THAT'S RIGHT!
WE NEED TO FOLLOW HIM!
LET'S GO HIDE THE KEYS FIRST.

Tommy and Audrey run down the stairs. Audrey shuts the door and takes out the keys. She and Tommy run away from the cabin. They put the keys back where they found them.

[Suspenseful music plays, clinking, door clicks, keys jangle, water splashes]

Tommy walks on the grass beside the stream. Audrey swings past him on a vine.

Tommy shouts, ALEX!

[Rustling]

Audrey shouts, AH-AH AH-AH, ALEXXX!

HEY! ALEX, WHERE'RE YOU?!

Tommy says WE SHOULDN'T HAVE
LET HIM GO OFF ON HIS OWN.
HE COULD BE ANYWHERE!

Sticky glides past Audrey and Tommy.

Audrey and Tommy say, OH!

Sticky lands on a branch glances wide-eyed behind him, and jumps off the branch.

[Sticky chitters]

Audrey smiles and says, I THINK WE MIGHT
BE ON THE RIGHT TRACK.

Alex runs through a bush. As he runs past, Audrey grabs his arm. Alex runs excitedly in place.

[Giggling, panting, leaves rustle, upbeat music plays, whooshing]

Alex asks, DID YOU SEE?
I WAS GLIDING WITH STICKY.

Audrey says, YEAH. BUT STOP
FOLLOWING HIM, RIGHT NOW!
YOU'RE STRESSING HIM OUT.

Audrey lets go of Alex, and he tries to run past her. She blocks him.

[Huffing, grunting, whooshing, energetic music plays]

Tommy says, STOP IT!

Audrey and Alex stand still.

[Audrey sighs, chuckles, birds chirp, rustling]

Tommy says I'VE GOT AN IDEA. LET'S LEAVE
THE ANIMALS IN PEACE,
AND GO BACK TO THE CABIN!

Alex says, OH, OKAY.

[Footsteps rustle, dramatic music plays, water splashes]

Tommy and Audrey look at the empty key hook beneath the lion fountain.

Tommy says THE KEY ISN'T HERE! BUT WE JUST PUT IT BACK!

Audrey says, THAT'S WEIRD. LET'S GO GET THE OTHERS.

[Tense music, flapping, bird calls]

Audrey looks in the hollow log.

Audrey says THE SECOND ONE IS MISSING TOO!

Tommy, Audrey, and Alex stand by the tree's roots.

Audrey says ALL THE KEYS HAVE DISAPPEARED!
SOMETHING'S GOING ON.

Tommy says, OH!

[Running footsteps]

Tommy, Alex, and Audrey run to the door. It is unlocked, and there is a key in each keyhole.

Tommy says, WHAT? BUT I KNOW
WE LOCKED EVERYTHING UP
BEFORE WE LEFT!

[Suspenseful music plays, birds play]

Tommy pushes the door open.

[Door squeaks, Alex gasps]

Audrey and Tommy look over the edge of the trap door. Toys and books are scattered across the cabin floor. Plants and a mug are knocked over.

[Tommy and Audrey gasp]

Audrey shouts, ARGH! C'MON ALEX,
THIS IS TOO MUCH!

Alex asks, WHAT? WHAT DID I DO?

Audrey says, TAKE A LOOK AROUND!
SOMEONE WENT THROUGH HERE
LIKE A TORNADO,
IT WASN'T ME! OR TOMMY!

YOU CAME BACK
TO THE CABIN BEHIND OUR BACKS
AND YOU TORE THE PLACE APART!

Alex says, BUT, IT WASN'T ME!
I WOULD NEVER DO THAT!
YOUR CABIN IS SO COOL!

Audrey says YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE
WHO KNEW ABOUT THE KEYS!
AND YOU WANTED TO EAT
ALL OUR SNACK FOOD!
SO YOU CAME BACK HERE WHILE
WE WERE LOOKING FOR YOU!

[Alex whimpers, cries, sad music plays]

Alex runs away sobbing. Audrey puts the books back on the bookcase.

Tommy says, POOR KID.
HE LOOKS REALLY UPSET.

Audrey says THAT'S EVEN BETTER!
HE NEEDED TO CALM DOWN.

Tommy says, YEAH, I KNOW, BUT,
NOTHING REALLY GOT BROKEN.

[Audrey sighs]

Audrey says, ANYWAYS,
HE CAN'T REALLY HELP IT,
IT'S JUST THE WAY HE IS.

Audrey puts a book on a shelf, and a feather falls out, landing on her nose.

[Whooshing]

Audrey says, HUH? HEY,
WHERE'D THIS COME FROM?

Toupie flies out of the hammock.

[Toupie squawks]

Tommy says, AH!
HOW DID YOU GET IN HERE, HUH?

[Toupie coos]

Tommy says, HOLD ON.
WHAT IF TOUPIE DID ALL THIS?
KEAS ARE REALLY SMART YOU KNOW.

[Tense music plays, birds chirp]

Audrey says, HM?

THERE'S ONLY
ONE WAY TO FIND OUT!
LET'S GIVE HIM A TEST!

Audrey opens a window, and Toupie flies to a tree.

Audrey says, OKAY, FLY AWAY, TOUPIE!

[Window creaks, Toupie trills, flapping]

Toupie watches Audrey lock the door.

[Clicking, birds chirp]

Audrey says, AH! THERE WE GO!
IT'S ALL LOCKED UP!

Audrey leaves two keys in the locks. She puts the third key in a small bush.

[Leaves rustle]

Tommy says WE'D BETTER GO NOW! BYE, SEE YOU LATER!

Toupie watches Audrey and Tommy walk away from the door.

[Tommy and Audrey giggle, upbeat music plays]

Audrey and Tommy hide behind a bush. Toupie lands beside the small bush and grabs the key. He puts it in the bottom keyhole, turns the other keys, and unlocks the door. Toupie opens the door and flies up the stairway.

[Toupie squawks, leaves rustle, mischievous music plays, clanking, Toupie coos, flapping]

Tommy shouts IT'S INCREDIBLE!
SO IT WAS TOUPIE
WHO WREAKED HAVOC IN THE CABIN!

HIGH-FIVE. AUDREY?

[Leave rustle, sad music plays]

Audrey says, OH. I BLAMED
ALEX WITHOUT TAKING THE TIME
TO FIND OUT
WHAT REALLY HAPPENED.
WE'VE GOTTA FIND HIM!

Audrey shouts, ALEX? ALEX?

Tommy shouts, WHERE ARE YOU!

Inside a house with red plaid carpets, Alex sits on the floor with his knees drawn up to his chest. A black, lime green and pink butterfly rests on his head. The butterfly flutters away when Audrey and Tommy walk into the room.

[Door clicks, Alex sniffles, cries, flapping]

Audrey says, AH, THERE YOU ARE!
WE WERE LOOKING EVERYWHERE!

[Solemn music plays]

Alex says, I'M SORRY, AUDREY.
I DON'T DO IT ON PURPOSE.

IT'S HARD FOR ME TO STAY
STILL. ESPECIALLY WHEN
I'M IN A COOL PLACE LIKE THIS.

BUT IT WASN'T ME
THAT MESSED UP YOUR CABIN.
I SWEAR.

Audrey says, ALEX, WAIT.
I'M THE ONE WHO'S SORRY.
I HAD NO PROOF AND IT WAS WRONG
OF ME TO BLAME YOU LIKE THAT.

Tommy says, AND YOU'LL
NEVER GUESS WHO IT WAS
WHO WRECKED THE CABIN.
WHILE WE WERE CLEANING UP,
WE FOUND A FEATHER!

Alex says, OH!

Audrey says, YEAH, A KEA'S FEATHER!

Alex says, OH!

In the forest, Sonia shouts, ALEX! AUDREY!

Alex, Audrey, and Tommy say, SHHH!

Toupie stands on top of a clear box with a slope inside. Tommy and Audrey sit cross-legged in front of the box. Alex stands beside Audrey.

Alex says, AUDREY FOUND A PUZZLE
AT THE CLINIC FOR TOUPIE!

[Birds chirp, Toupie trills, flapping]

Toupie flies away from the box. A hole on the top of the box is over a column with a nut balanced on top. Toupie returns with a small yellow ball and knocks the nut off the column.

[Clatter, Toupee caws]

Audrey pushes a button on a timer.

[Beep]

Tommy cheers, THIRTY SECONDS!
HE BROKE THE RECORD!

[Toupee trills, cheering, upbeat music plays]

Audrey says, HEY MOM?
CAN ALEX STAY A LITTLE LONGER?
PLEASE!

[Splashing]

Sonia says, OH YES, OF COURSE.

[Audrey chuckles]

Alex says, AWESOME!
I'LL SET THE PUZZLE
BACK UP, OKAY?

HEY, TOMMY!
CAN YOU PASS ME A NUT?

Toupie lands on Alex’s head and drops the nut on the ground.

[Toupie squawks, laughter]

[Upbeat music plays]
