[Upbeat music plays]

The tall iron gates in front of the Shelter are open. Tommy rides his red bicycle down the path, drops it in front of the greenhouse, and runs inside.

[Bicycle rattling]

In the greenhouse jungle, Sticky glides from a tree branch. On the ground, Audrey and Jack look into a large box.

[Hooting, squeaking, grunting, upbeat music continues]

Audrey says, THIS IS SO AWESOME!

Tommy says, OH! IT'S FINALLY HERE!

Audrey says, HELLO, TOMMY.

[Tommy laughing]

Tommy says, WOW. FEAST YOUR EYES, JACK! IT'S YOUR FUTURE MONKEY BRIDGE!

Tommy looks at the instructions.

Hector shouts, AUDREY! I'VE GOT A SURPRISE FOR YOU!

Audrey says, HMM? A SURPRISE?! C'MON, TOMMY!

Audrey throws pieces of the bridge back into the box. She grabs Tommy and pulls him away. The instructions fly from his hands.

Tommy says, HEY!

[Rustling, clanking, Jack grunting]

Hector says, LOOK WHO'S COME TO PAY US A LITTLE VISIT.

A woman with grey hair stands beside a green car. She wears a pale green shirt and grey pants, an orange scarf, and reading glasses on a chain around her neck. Her left-hand rests on a cane.

[Rustling, bright music plays]

Audrey says, OH! GRAMMY!

Grammy says, HELLO, PUMPKIN!

Audrey runs to the grey-haired woman, Grammy, and hugs her.

[Exclamations, chuckling]

Grammy says, OH, I'VE MISSED YOU SO MUCH, SWEETIE.

Jack hugs Grammy.

[Jack hooting, rustling]

Grammy says, OH. OH, YES, YOU TOO, JACK.

Hector says, OH, UH, EASY NOW. EASY NOW. GRAMMY HAS JUST COME FROM THE DOCTOR. WE'VE GOTTA BE CAREFUL WITH HER, ALRIGHT?

[Birds chirping]

Audrey says, WHY? IS THERE A PROBLEM?

Grammy says, NO. APART FROM YOUR DAD, WHO WORRIES ABOUT ME TOO MUCH. AS USUAL.

Audrey says, HMM?

Hector says, MOM, THE DOCTOR SAID YOU NEED TO REST.

Grammy says, PFFT. NONSENSE.

[Hector grumbling]

Grammy says, YOU MUST BE THE BEST FRIEND I'VE HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT. TOMMY, RIGHT?

[Tommy giggling nervously]

Tommy says, UH, YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT, MA'AM.

Hector says, OKAY, I'VE GOTTA RUN SOME ERRANDS. WOULD YOU STAY WITH GRAMMY UNTIL I GET BACK? JUST BE CAREFUL, AUDREY. NO SWINGING FROM THE TREES, NO CLIMBING, NO RUNNING, NO WALKING TOO FAST, NOTHING.

Audrey says, SO YOU JUST WANT US TO SIT?

Hector says, YES! THAT WOULD BE SUPER! JUST SIT HERE QUIETLY.

Audrey says, BUT TOMMY AND I REALLY WANT TO BUILD OUR MONKEY BRIDGE!

Hector says, THE BRIDGE CAN WAIT, SWEETHEART. LOOK AT YOUR GRANDMA.

Tommy tries to high-five Grammy and she pulls her hand away.

[Whooshing, laughter]

Hector says, SHE'S VERY OLD, FRAGILE. SHE NEEDS OUR SUPPORT. SO YOU'LL LOOK AFTER HER?

Hector gets into the car and drives away.

[Audrey whining, vehicle engine rumbling, birds chirping]

Grammy says, SO I HEAR THAT YOU AND TOMMY ARE PLANNING TO BUILD A MONKEY BRIDGE FOR REAL MONKEYS! THAT'S AN AMAZING IDEA.

[Tommy chuckling, upbeat music plays]

Audrey says, YES, BUT MAYBE WE SHOULD DO SOMETHING... A LITTLE CALMER.

Grammy says, LET ME GUESS. NO CLIMBING, NO RUNNING, NO WALKING FAST, NOTHING. HE SAYS THAT ALL THE TIME. BUT TELL ME. YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ANY OF THAT TO BUILD A MONKEY BRIDGE, DO YA?

Audrey says, OH?

Grammy says, HMM?

In the greenhouse, Audrey, Tommy, and Grammy walk in the jungle.

[Laughing, animals chittering, birds squawking]

Audrey says, ...AND WE HAVE KOMODO DRAGONS! OH, AND THE GIRAFFE JUST HAD A BABY!

[Tommy laughing]

Audrey says, WE CAN GO SEE HER. UH, ACTUALLY, IT MIGHT BE A BIT FAR.

Tommy knocks on a tree trunk.

[Knocking, creaking]

Tommy says, HMM. HMM. IT'S PERFECT! THESE TREES LOOK SOLID ENOUGH TO ME.

Grammy says, FABULOUS.

Grammy takes a mallet out of the box.

[Clattering]

Audrey says, HMM?

Grammy says, LET'S GET STARTED, THEN.

Audrey takes the mallet away from Grammy.

[Dramatic music plays]

Audrey says, OH... NO! YOU CAN'T HELP US! IT'LL BE TOO TIR... UH, BORING FOR YOU.

Grammy says, HMM?

Audrey opens a lawn chair.

[Relaxing music plays, clicking]

Audrey says, HEH-HEH.

Tommy pours a cup of water and leaves it on a tree stump.

[Splashing]

Tommy says, HEE-HEE-HEE!

Audrey says, IT’LL BE MORE FUN TO SIT AND WATCH US.

Audrey opens a bag of cherries and puts one in Grammy’s hand. She puts the rest of the bag on the chair beside Grammy.

[Laughing, bag rustling]

Audrey says, HMM. NOW ENJOY WATCHING US WORK. HEH-HEH...

Tommy sits on the ground holding rope. He frowns down at the instructions in his lap. Audrey lifts lumber out of the box.

[Rustling, birds chirping]

Tommy reads, "FIRST, MAKE A DEAD TURN, THEN TWO HALF-HITCHES... TO ATTACH THE HALF-CORDS TO THE MAIN CORD." WAIT, WHAT?!

Babou, the proboscis monkey, slides down a vine and sits on the stump by Grammy.

[Sniffing, hooting, vine creaking]

Grammy says, HMM?

[Chuckling]

Grammy says, OH, HELLO, YOU.

Babou reaches for her reading glasses and she pushes him away.

Grammy says, UH, NO, HANDS OFF.

Grammy holds up the reading glasses and Babou reaches for them. She pulls them away.

[Slide whistle, clicking, hooting]

Grammy says, SEE? THEY'RE JUST MY READING GLASSES. AT YOUR AGE, YOU DON'T NEED THEM YET.

Babou wrestles with Grammy, and she pops the cherry into his mouth. He sits on the stump and smiles.

[Babou screaming, plopping, Babou squeaking]

By the box, Audrey and Tommy lie tangled in the rope.

[Upbeat music plays]

Audrey says, LOOK, I JUST DID WHAT YOU TOLD ME TO. YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS WRONG.

Tommy says, YEAH, WELL, THEY DIDN'T INCLUDE DRAWINGS.

Grammy stands and her shadow falls over the children.

Both say, UH...

Grammy says, HMM.

[Audrey laughing nervously]

Grammy pulls a rope and the rope falls off the children.

[Rustling, upbeat music plays]

Tommy says, HUH?

Audrey says, HMM?

Tommy asks, HOW ON EARTH DID YOU DO THAT?

Grammy says, OH, I TAKE PART IN A LOT OF KNITTING COMPETITIONS. I CAN'T RESIST A GOOD KNOT. IF YOU NEED ME AGAIN, I'LL BE IN MY CHAIR, ENJOYING WATCHING YOU TWO WORK.

Audrey and Tommy say, HMM? HOLD ON!

Tommy says, COME BACK!

Grammy says, YES?

Audrey says, MAYBE YOU CAN HELP US IN SOME WAY OR ANOTHER?

Tommy says, EH-HEH.

Audrey says, UH, IN A LESS TIRING WAY.

Grammy says, ALRIGHT. LET ME SHOW YOU THE ROPES.

Grammy shows Audrey and Tommy a knot. They both look down at the rope in their hands.

[Grammy humming, rope rustling, Lively music plays]

Tommy says, OH.

Audrey says, UH... HUH?

Tommy says, MM...

Jack watches as Tommy runs in circles around the tree, wrapping the rope around it. Jack falls.

[Tommy grunting, rope creaking, whooshing, Jack crashing]

Tommy ties a rope around a small branch. Audrey grabs the rope and swings on it. The rope unties, and she falls.

[Exclaiming, screaming, thumping]

Grammy says, HMM?

Grammy, Audrey, and Tommy tie matching knots in their ropes.

[Laughter]

Audrey and Tommy pull a rope.

[Grunting, rope creaking]

Audrey and Tommy say, HMM?

Jack stands behind Tommy and helps pull the monkey rope bridge into place.

Both say, WAH! HA!

Jack and Babou jump onto the finished bridge. Audrey, Grammy, and Tommy stand below, smiling.

[Thumping, vocalizing]

Audrey says, LOOKS LIKE THEY LOVE THEIR BRIDGE!

THANKS, GRAMMY. WE NEVER COULD'VE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU.

Grammy says, THAT WAS A GOOD DAY'S WORK.

[Grammy’s back cracking]

Audrey says, says, OH?

Grammy says, OH. BUT I MUST ADMIT, AFTER ALL THAT, I THINK I'D BETTER SIT AWHILE.

Audrey moves Grammy’s chair.

Audrey says, OF COURSE.

[Upbeat music plays]

Tommy says, HEY, WE FORGOT SOMETHING!

[Instructions rustling]

Audrey says, HMM?

Tommy says, THERE'RE LITTLE FLAGS ON THE BRIDGE!

Audrey says, BUT THE BOX IS EMPTY. THEY MUST BE OPTIONAL.

[Tommy groaning]

Tommy says, THAT'S A SHAME. THEY LOOK REALLY COOL.

[Audrey laughing]

Audrey says, I'VE GOT FLAGS IN MY ROOM, IF YOU WANT TO USE THEM.

[Birds chirping]

Audrey says, GRAMMY, WE HAVE TO GO GET SOMETHING FOR THE BRIDGE.

Grammy says, ALRIGHT. YOU TWO GO AND GET WHAT YOU NEED. I'LL WAIT FOR YOU RIGHT HERE.

Audrey says, BUT DAD TOLD ME—

Grammy says, IF I CAN HELP YOU BUILD A BRIDGE, I THINK I CAN STAY HERE ALONE FOR FIVE MINUTES. DON'T YOU WORRY, I WON'T MOVE AN INCH. MWAH!

Grammy taps Audrey’s hand and kisses her cheek.

[Gentle hand slap, smooching]

Audrey says, WE'LL BE QUICK.

Audrey runs away.

[Footsteps pattering]

Grammy relaxes in the chair and shuts her eyes.

[Grammy sighing happily, Babou shouting]

Grammy reaches up and cannot find her reading glasses. Babou waves them and runs away. Grammy chases him, waving her cane.

Grammy says, HMM? HEY! OH, NO! AH. COME BACK HERE, YOU LITTLE THIEF! OH!

[Happy music plays, door opening]

In her house, Audrey says, AH. I'M SO THIRSTY. DO YOU WANT ANYTHING TO DRINK, TOMMY?

Tommy runs past Audrey.

Tommy says, NO, THANKS! I'M GONNA GO GET THE FLAGS!

[Tommy laughing]

In the kitchen, Audrey stands by the sink and drinks from a cup.

[Slurping, honking]

Audrey says, HMM? HMM!

[Suspenseful music plays]

Audrey says, OH, NO! HE'S BACK ALREADY!

Audrey runs and meets her dad at the front door. He holds a large paper bag.

[Audrey panting, whooshing]

Hector says, HELLO, MUNCHKIN. WHAT'S GOING ON? GRAMMY STILL IN ONE PIECE?

Audrey says, UH...UH, YEAH, OF COURSE.

Tommy says, I FOUND THEM!

Audrey covers Tommy’s mouth.

Audrey says SHHH.

Hector says, MOM, I BOUGHT THE VITAMINS THE DOCTOR RECOMMENDED.

Tommy asks, IS THAT YOUR DAD IN THE KITCHEN?

Hector says, I'LL FINISH THE REST OF THE ERRANDS LATER. THEN YOU AND TOMMY CAN BUILD THAT BRIDGE OF YOURS, AUDREY.

Audrey drags Tommy away from a staircase.

[Door shutting]

Hector asks, HMM? AUDREY, IS EVERYTHING OKAY?

Audrey leans against a door.

Audrey says, UH... YEAH, EVERYTHING'S GREAT!

Hector says, HMM? MM. OKAY, WELL, WHERE'S YOUR GRANDMA? HEY, MOM?!

Audrey says, UH, SHE JUST WENT INTO THE BATHROOM. UH, RIGHT, GRAMMY? YOU GOOD? HEH-HEH.

In the bathroom, Tommy says, in a falsetto voice, AHEM. ENOUGH WITH THIS NONSENSE!

Hector says, THAT'S MY MOM ALRIGHT.

Audrey says, OBVIOUSLY, IT'S HER. HEH-HEH. UH, WELL, I'M GONNA GET TOMMY, SO WE CAN BUILD THAT MONKEY BRIDGE! SEE YA!

[Whooshing]

Hector shrugs and says, HMM.

In the jungle, Audrey runs to the chair and tree stump.

[Audrey panting, running footsteps, animal chittering]

Audrey says, GRAMMY? DAD'S BACK HOME! HMM? BABOU?!

Babou lounges in the lawn chair, wearing Grammy’s reading glasses. He leaps and knocks the chair over.

[Babou grunting, rustling]

Audrey says, WHERE'S GRAMMY? HEY! BABOU?!

Babou jumps to a branch and hits his head. He climbs up on the branch.

[Babou crying]

Audrey searches around the monkey bridge.

[Leaves rustling]

Audrey says, HMM? GRAMMY? GRAMMY?! GRAMMY! JACK! HAVE YOU SEEN GRAMMY?!

Jack walks by, eating a banana, and Audrey runs to him. He shakes his head.

[Jack grunting]

Audrey says, I DON'T UNDERSTAND! SHE WAS JUST HERE!

Audrey says, DAD WAS RIGHT. I SHOULD'VE NEVER LEFT HER ALONE! MM.

Audrey falls to her knees and looks down at the ground. Above her, Jack hangs by one hand off the monkey bridge.

[Whooshing, Jack grunting]

Audrey says, HMM? UP THERE? OH! YOU THINK I SHOULD LOOK FROM UP THERE ON THE BRIDGE! GREAT IDEA, JACK!

Audrey jumps on Jack and climbs up to the bridge. She looks around and points at Grammy’s scarf on the ground.

[Grunting]

Audrey says, HMM? HMM. HMM. THERE!

In the bathroom, Tommy pulls on the window handle.

[Bird chirping, Tommy grunting, groaning]

Hector says, HMM?

[Tommy grunting]

Hector says, YOU OKAY IN THERE, MOM?

[Grunting]

Tommy says, OH! UH, YES, EVERYTHING'S JUST FINE! WHOA!

Tommy slips and falls.

[Exclaiming, thumping]

Hector says, HUH?! MOM! WHAT HAPPENED?! ARE YOU HURT?! I'M COMING, MOM!

Hector throws himself against the bathroom door and forces it open.

[Shouting, crashing, tense music plays]

Hector says, WHAT?

Tommy lies on the floor, wrapped in toilet paper.

[Laughing nervously]

Tommy says, UH... HEH-HEH. UH, USUALLY, I DON'T USE THIS MUCH PAPER.

Hector says, I, UH...

Hector pinches the bridge of his nose.

[Smacking, grumbling]

Hector says, YOU'D BETTER HAVE A GOOD EXPLANATION.

Tommy says, HEH-HEH-HEH-HEH.

In the jungle, Audrey picks up Grammy’s scarf. She and Jack stare at it.

[Rustling]

Audrey says, THAT'S WEIRD. HOW DID SHE LOSE HER SCARF?

Jack pokes Audrey’s arm and points. Up in a tree, Obi, the tree-kangaroo, plays with Grammy’s cane.

[Tapping, Jack vocalizing]

Audrey says, OH, THAT'S HER CANE! OBI, CAN I SEE THAT? HMM?

Obi leaps away, and the cane falls to the ground.

[Thumping, leaves rustling]

Audrey says, OH! OH?

Audrey notices footprints with red liquid splattered beside them. Grammy’s boots lie on the grass.

[Gasping, suspenseful music plays]

Audrey says, OH, NO! THAT'S NOT A GOOD SIGN!

[Jack grunting]

Grammy shouts, OH!

Audrey carries the cane and scarf. She grabs a vine and swings across a chasm.

[Vine creaking]

Audrey says, OH! GRAMMY! IT'S WORSE THAN I THOUGHT!

[Grammy exclaiming]

Audrey says, HANG ON, GRAMMY! I'LL SAVE YOU!

Mud hits Audrey’s face. She enters a clearing and puts herself between Grammy and a small rhinoceros.

[Grammy exclaiming, splatting]

Audrey says, GRAMMY! GRAMMY! YOU OKAY?

[Grammy exclaiming, mud splashing, laughing, water bubbling]

Audrey says, HMM? WAIT. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

In the jungle, Grammy walks with Audrey and Jack.

[Upbeat music plays]

Grammy says, WHEN I REALIZED I WAS NEVER GONNA CATCH THAT THIEF BABOU, I THOUGHT: WELL, I MAY AS WELL HAVE SOME FUN WHILE I'M HERE. I CAME ACROSS THIS ADORABLE RHINOCEROS AND DECIDED TO FOLLOW HIM.

Audrey says, BUT HOW DID YOU LOSE YOUR CLOTHES? AND THERE WAS BLOOD EVERYWHERE!

Grammy says, BLOOD? WHAT DO YOU MEAN?

[Gasping]

Grammy says, OH, WAIT. YOU MEAN MY CHERRIES. I LEFT SOME IN MY SCARF ALONG THE PATH SO I'D FIND MY WAY BACK.

Hector shouts, MOM!

Grammy says, IT'S AN OLD TRICK I USE.

Hector shouts, MOM!

Hector arrives and runs to Grammy.

[Hector panting, birds chirping]

Hector says, OH, I WAS SO WORRIED! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?! DID YOU FALL?! ARE YOU HURT? HOW MANY FINGERS DO YOU SEE? AUDREY, HOW COULD YOU DO THIS--

Grammy says, STOP IT RIGHT NOW, HECTOR! AUDREY TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF ME.

[Jack hooting, Audrey giggling]

Hector walks to Grammy.

Hector says, BUT I CLEARLY SAID SHE SHOULD--

[Gentle music plays]

Grammy says, YOU TOLD HER TO WATCH OVER ME LIKE I WAS SOME ANIMAL ON THE BRINK OF EXTINCTION! OKAY, YES, I MAY NOT BE YOUNG, BUT I'M NOT A BAG OF BONES, AND I DON'T REGRET A THING! I HAD AN ABSOLUTELY EXHILARATING DAY WITH MY SWEET LITTLE GRANDDAUGHTER.

[Audrey giggling, birds chirping]

Hector says, BUT WHAT IF SOMETHING HAD HAPPENED?! SOME OF THESE ANIMALS COULD BE DANGEROUS. AND OTHERS COULD STEAL YOUR THINGS!

Grammy says, YES, WELL, NOTHING LIKE THAT HAPPENED. WE SPENT A WONDERFUL DAY IN TOTAL SAFETY.

[Hector sighing]

Hector says, ALRIGHT, I WON'T SAY ANOTHER WORD. I KNOW SOMETIMES I CAN BE A BIT OVERPROTECTIVE, BUT THAT'S BECAUSE I REALLY CARE ABOUT YOU.

Grammy says, OF COURSE. I KNOW MY DUMPLING.

Grammy kisses Hector’s cheek.

[Smooching, Hector giggling]

Tommy whispers, "MY DUMPLING."

[Audrey and Tommy laughing]

Audrey says, OH?

[Upbeat music plays]

Hector says, THIS IS A GREAT MONKEY BRIDGE.

Grammy says, GRAMMY HELPED US BUILD IT.

Hector says, HMM? AS LONG AS NOBODY GOT HURT, AND AT LEAST YOU HAD FUN.

Audrey says, NEXT TIME YOU COME, WE'LL FEED THE PANTHER! OR BRUSH THE KOMODO DRAGON'S TEETH!

Hector stiffens and clenches his fists.

[Grumbling, everyone but Hector laughing, Hector laughing weakly]

On the monkey bridge, Babou wears Grammy’s reading glasses.

[Babou vocalizing]
