[Upbeat music plays, birds chirping, bicycle rattling]

The tall iron gates in front of the Shelter are open. Tommy rides his bicycle down the path, drops it in front of the greenhouse, and runs inside. Tommy walks in the jungle.

Tommy says, AUDREY! AUDREY!

[Gentle music plays, bushes rustling, muffled shouting]

Jack puts his hand over Tommy’s mouth and pulls him into a bush.

Audrey says, SHHH! SORRY, TOMMY. BUT WE'RE TRYING TO CATCH PACO. HE ALWAYS HIDES WHEN WE HAVE TO GIVE HIM HIS MEDICATION.

[Rustling, birds chirping, water splashing]

Pat crouches beside the tracks and rubs dirt between her fingers. Hector stands beside her, his hands on his hips.

Pat says, MMM... THESE TRACKS ARE FRESH. HE'S STOPPED RUNNING. WE'RE VERY CLOSE.

Tommy says, WOW! YOU GOT ALL THAT JUST BY LOOKING AT THESE TRACKS?

Hector says, PAT WAS AN AWESOME TRACKER BEFORE COMING TO THE REFUGE. AFTER ALL, HER NICKNAME WAS..."FALCON EYE!"

[Rustling]

Hector nudges Pat with his elbow.

Tommy says, WOW!

Pat says, YEAH, WELL...THAT'S ANCIENT HISTORY. THIS WAY!

[Tommy giggling, footsteps rustling, whooshing, exclamations, birds chirping]

They follow the tracks.

Pat says, MM... THE TRACKS STOP HERE. HE CAN'T BE FAR. HECTOR, CAN YOU FOLLOW THE STREAM? AUDREY AND TOMMY, GO TO THE OTHER SHORE. I'LL GO THIS WAY!

Tommy asks, CAN I GO WITH YOU?

Pat says, UH... YEAH.

[Pat chuckling]

Tommy says, MMMH!

Pat says, LET'S GO!

[Jack and Audrey grunting, rustling, birds calling, bush rustling, Jack vocalizing]

Everyone scatters. Audrey jumps on a rock and crosses the stream. Jack swings over her head on a vine. They walk, Audrey holds up her hand, and they both stop.

Audrey says, SHHHH! I THINK HE'S THERE...

[Sniffing, fox grunts, gentle music plays]

Audrey sees a red fox.

Audrey says, HMM? AH! OOH...YOU'RE NOT FROM THE REFUGE, ARE YOU? I'M AUDREY!

Pat says, AUDREY! IT'S OKAY, WE FOUND HIM! WHAT ON EARTH... THAT'S NOT GOOD.

[Fox squealing, energetic music plays]

Pat carries Paco on her head. She gives Paco to Tommy and chases the fox.

Pat says, COME BACK HERE, YOU!

Audrey says, BUT... PAT! HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING BAD!

Pat says, HUP!

[Pat grunting, Tommy panting]

Pat leaps over rocks and bushes. She watches the fox disappear into a hole in the ground. Audrey, Tommy, and Hector arrive. Hector carries Paco.

Pat says, A FOX AT THE REFUGE. NOW I'VE SEEN EVERYTHING. THIS IS NOT HAPPENING ON MY WATCH!

[Audrey grumbling]

Pat runs, and Audrey chases her. Tommy follows them.

Tommy says, OH...

Hector says, MMM?

[Upbeat music plays, Tommy groaning, footsteps rustling]

Audrey asks, BUT WHY ARE YOU CHASING HIM?! HE'S DONE NOTHING WRONG! HE'S NICE

Pat replies, HE IS A WILD ANIMAL. IF HE'S HERE... HE'S LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO EAT. EITHER THE ANIMAL'S FOOD OR THE ANIMALS THEMSELVES.

Tommy says, MM...

Pat says, THERE!

Pat crouches by a hole beneath a downspout on the side of a building.

Audrey and Tommy say, HM?

Pat says, THIS GUY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE WET GROUND.

Tommy asks, BUT IF HE'S COME HERE TO EAT, WHY HASN'T HE BEEN HERE BEFORE?

Audrey says, THAT'S TRUE! I THINK HE NEEDS HELP. HE LOOKED LOST...

[Rocks clattering, footsteps tapping]

Pat drops an armful of rocks over the hole and stomps on them.

Pat says, IT'S KIND OF YOU TO BE WORRIED, AUDREY, BUT THIS FOX CAN BE A REAL DANGER.

Tommy asks, REALLY?

Pat says, AND MY PRIORITY IS TO PROTECT THE REFUGE!

Audrey asks, WHAT IF THE FOX IS IN DISTRESS? WE CAN'T JUST LEAVE HIM ALONE?! WE'VE GOTTA FIND OUT WHAT HE'S DOING HERE!

Tommy says, I HAD A FEELING YOU'D SAY THAT!

[Upbeat music plays]

Tommy and Audrey look at a map of the jungle.

Audrey says, WE KNOW THAT HE CAME IN HERE. NOW IF WE CAN JUST RETRACE HIS TRACKS, WE CAN FIGURE OUT WHO OR WHAT BROUGHT HIM HERE!

Tommy says, LESSON NUMBER ONE: PRINTS, REMAINS AND EXCREMENTS ARE BEST FRIENDS TO A TRACKER!

Audrey says, UH... WHAT'S THAT?!

Tommy shows Audrey a book.

Tommy says, IT'S IN THE TRACKER'S MANUAL! I BORROWED IT FROM PAT. AH-HA! OUR FIRST CLUE! OKAY, THE CHAPTER ON CACAS...

Audrey says, UH... TOMMY...

Tommy says, THIS IS THE POOP FROM... A GORILLA...

[Audrey giggling, Jack grunting, whooshing]

Audrey says, AND THAT OVER THERE, MISTER TRACKER? LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER CLUE, DOESN'T IT?

[Footsteps rustling, birds chirping, Tommy sniffing, gentle music plays]

Audrey and Tommy look at some red fur on a bush.

Tommy says, MMH? UH... YEAH, IT COULD BE...

[Audrey giggling, footsteps rustling]

Audrey says, ALRIGHT, COME WITH ME!

Tommy says, PHEW... I'M GONNA BE THE BEST TRACKER IN THE WORLD!

[Cheerful music plays, exclaiming rustling]

Tommy peers through a magnifying glass at a tree trunk.

Tommy says, AH... OH...

[Marker scratching]

Audrey draws a red X on the map.

Tommy says, MMH? OH?

[Gulping]

Tommy looks through his magnifying glass. Jack eats a handful of birdseed. Tommy picks up brown hair from the ground.

Tommy says, AH-HA! HMM.

[Babou chattering]

On a branch above Tommy, Babou scratches his back.

Audrey says, HMM!

[Munching, cheerful music continues, thumping, tapping]

Jack eats a piece of fruit and then follows Audrey. Tommy peers at a tree trunk, and Toupie pecks at his feet.

Tommy says, HMM? HUH? OH!

[Audrey giggling, whooshing]

Jack gestures at Audrey and Tommy.

Audrey says, OH?

[Giggling]

Jack points at the red fur on the bush.

[Whooshing]

Audrey kneels beside the map.

Audrey says, SO, IF WE RETRACE THE PATH MADE BY OUR FRIEND THE FOX, WE GET...

[Marker scratching, upbeat music plays]

Audrey draws on the map.

Tommy and Audrey say, HM?

Audrey says, NOTHING?! I DON'T UNDERSTAND... WHAT DOES HE WANT?

Tommy says, I DON'T KNOW... BUT AT LEAST NOW WE KNOW WHAT HE DOESN'T WANT.

[Munching]

Jack eats fruit.

Audrey says, MM...

Tommy says, WE CHECKED THE SEEDS, THE FRUIT, THE EGGS... AND HE DIDN'T TOUCH ANY OF IT!

Audrey says, MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE HE DOESN'T EAT THAT...

Tommy says, NO, I'D BE SHOCKED, FOXES ARE REAL OPPORTUNISTS. THEY'D EAT ANYTHING THEY CAN FIND. JUST LIKE JACK!

[Jack snorts]

Jack has purple fruit smeared across his chin.

Audrey says, WE'VE GOTTA GO TELL PAT!

[Door clicking, Tommy shouting, dramatic music plays]

At the veterinary clinic, Audrey opens a door. Hector holds a large needle.

Hector says, NOW, DON'T MOVE! STAY CALM. IT'S JUST A LITTLE PINCH...

[Tense music plays]

Pat walks towards Tommy and Audrey, and they run into the room.

Pat says, YOU WON'T FEEL A THING. COME ON! BEHAVE PACO!

[Door creaking, closing, tense music plays]

Paco hides behind the door.

Pat says, COME HERE, PACO!

[Paco vocalizing]

Pat picks up Paco and carries him to an examination table.

Audre says, OH, PHEW!

Hector says, HE'S SUCH A SCAREDY CAT! THERE WE GO!

[Squeaking, Tommy whimpers, gentle music plays]

Tommy covers his eyes as Hector gives Paco the needle.

Audrey says, UH! PAT! WE FOLLOWED THE FOX'S TRAIL AND HE DIDN'T EAT ANYTHING AT ALL!

Pat says, AH! THAT'S NICE OF YOU! BUT I ALREADY KNEW THAT! I DID A HEAD COUNT OF ALL THE ANIMALS...

Tommy says, NO, HE REALLY DIDN'T WANT ANYTHING! NOT EVEN ANY FRUIT OR EGGS!

Audrey says, THERE'S YOUR PROOF... HE MUST NEED HELP!

Pat says, YES, IT'S PROOF. PROOF THAT WE WERE LUCKY! THAT FOX IS A WILD ANIMAL. THE LESS WE BOTHER HIM, THE BETTER OFF HE IS!

Hector says, AH...YOU SEE? THAT WASN'T SO BAD, WAS IT?

Audrey says, BUT DAD…

[Audrey whimpers, Paco cooing, flapping]

Hector says, YES? UH... PAT'S RIGHT, SWEETHEART!

Pat says, HMM.

[Footsteps rustling]

Audrey and Tommy leave the clinic.

Audrey says, IF I COULD JUST SEE THAT FOX AGAIN, THEN I COULD FIND OUT WHAT MADE HIM COME INTO THE REFUGE.

[Whooshing, birds chirping]

Tommy holds up the tracking book.

Tommy says, YOU KNOW, APPARENTLY, FOXES ALWAYS RETURN TO THE SAME PLACE. YOU CAN FIND OUT ALL ABOUT THAT IN A CHAPTER CALLED NIGHT TRACKING IN MY MANUAL.

Tommy winks at Audrey, and she smiles.

Audrey says, HMM.

[Owl hooting, adventurous music plays]

Day turns to night, and Tommy hides behind a bush with his book.

Tommy says, LESSON NUMBER 13. BECOME ONE WITH HIS ENVIRONMENT! THIS FOX WILL HAVE NO CHANCE OF DETECTING ME.

Tommy draws green lines on his face and looks through his binoculars.

[Walkie-talking beeping]

Tommy shouts, AAAH!

On the walkie-talkie, Audrey says, AUDREY TO TOMMY! I'VE GOT NOTHING...

Tommy speaks into his walkie-talkie and says, SAME HERE. HM?

[Insects chirping, rustling, footsteps tapping]

The fox walks behind Tommy and climbs into a greenhouse vent.

[Static crackling]

Tommy speaks into his walkie-talkie and says, RED FOX ALE...! UH, NO... RED ALERT! THE FOX IS IN THE REFUGE!

Audrey says, OH!

[Grunting, gentle music plays, footsteps running, grunting]

Audrey and Tommy run past the clinic and into the greenhouse.

Tommy says, HE COULD BE ANYWHERE...

[Paco chittering, bushes rustling]

Audrey says, OH? THAT WAY!

[Paco chittering, fox growling, dramatic music plays]

The fox chases Paco.

Tommy says, QUICK! WE'VE GOT TO HELP HIM!

[Grunting, Audrey grumbling]

Paco bounces off Joyo’s head and the back of a sleeping baby hippopotamus. The fox stops and stares at the hippopotamus.

Audrey says, HM? ARGH!

[Crowing, growling, gasping, Tommy panting, growling]

Paco stops beside a tree, and the fox appears. Paco walks up the tree to a branch, and the fox climbs.

Audrey shouts, PACO! OH!

[Thumping, grunting, moaning, Audrey exclaiming]

Audrey holds her arms out, and Paco jumps. He lands on Tommy’s head. Tommy stands, holding Paco, and Audrey stands in front of them. The fox jumps down to the ground.

Audrey says, SO, ALL THIS TIME, YOU'VE JUST WANTED TO EAT PACO?

[Loud grunting, thumping, dramatic music plays]

Jack appears and beats his chest.

Audrey says, WAIT! JACK! FOLLOW HIM!

[Fox squeaking, clattering, Tommy panting, Audrey sighing]

Audrey rides on Jack’s back as he chases the fox. The fox jumps onto a tree branch and leaves through the vent. Tommy arrives carrying Paco, and he and Audrey look out the greenhouse window. Tommy uses his binoculars.

Audrey says, PAT WAS RIGHT THEN; HE WAS JUST HERE TO HUNT...

Tommy says, OH! LOOK!

Tommy gives Audrey the binoculars. She peers through and sees a second fox lying on the ground.

Audrey says, THERE'S A SECOND ONE...

[Fox whimpering, thumping]

The second fox stands and limps on three legs. A wire is wrapped around their back right leg.

Audrey says, AH! AND IT'S LIMPING.

[Footsteps running]

Hector and Pat arrive in the greenhouse.

Pat shouts, KIDS?

[Upbeat music plays]

Hector says, WE HEARD THE ANIMALS! WHAT'S GOING ON?

Audrey says, IT’S THE FOX! HE CAME BACK! AND HE TRIED TO CATCH PACO...

[Whooshing]

Hector picks up Paco.

Hector says, WHAT?!

Tommy says, BUT IT TURNS OUT THERE ARE TWO FOXES! ONLY ONE OF THEM'S HUNTING. THE OTHER ONE CAN'T, IT'S LIMPING.

[Flapping]

Hector stretches Paco’s wings and inspects them.

Audrey says, OH, SO THAT'S WHY THE FOX DIDN'T EAT ANYTHING! HE'S NOT HUNTING FOR HIMSELF, HE'S DOING IT FOR HIS HURT FRIEND.

Pat says, HMM.

Tommy says, OH YEAH, OF COURSE! HE CAN'T BRING HIM ANY SEEDS OR EGGS! BUT SOMETHING BIG AND PLUMP LIKE PACO IS PERFECT!

Hector says, OOF... IT'S OKAY! PACO IS FINE! GOOD JOB THERE, KIDS.

[Insects chirping]

Audrey says, BUT DAD, DIDN'T YOU HEAR WHAT I SAID? THE FOXES NEED OUR HELP!

Hector says, AUDREY, CAN'T YOU SEE HOW DARK IT IS?! HOW'RE WE GOING TO FIND THEM?

Pat says, BY TRACKING THEM! YOU'RE RIGHT, AUDREY. THOSE FOXES NEED OUR HELP. THEY CAN'T BE THAT FAR.

[Tommy giggling]

Tommy says, FALCON EYE...

[Chalk tapping, upbeat music plays]

In the clinic, Pat tapes a picture of a forest, two foxes, food, a red cross, and her, Tommy, Hector, and Audrey.

Pat says, LET'S RECAP. WE TRACK THE FOXES. WE PUT THEM TO SLEEP WITH A SLEEPING PILL IN FOOD. AND WE HEAL THE ONE THAT'S HURT. THIS MISSION IS A NIGHTTIME OPERATION. I DEMAND ABSOLUTE VIGILANCE.

Hector, Audrey, and Tommy say, MM-HMM!

Pat says, OKAY, LET'S BEGIN "OPERATION RED FOX"!

[Rustling]

Beside the greenhouse, Tommy, Audrey, and Hector follow Pat. She shines her flashlight on fox prints.

Audrey says, HMM...

Pat says, THE TRACKS ARE FADING.

[Whooshing, Insects chirping]

Tommy says, I HAVE AN IDEA. WHAT IF YOU CHANGE THE ANGLE OF THE LIGHT?

Pat says, YES! TO HIGHLIGHT THE TRACKS BETTER! LESSON 17 OF THE TRACKERS MANUAL! WELL DONE, SPARROW EYE!

[Rustling, Tommy gasping, Audrey giggling]

Pat crouches and changes the angle of her flashlight. She finds the tracks and nudges Tommy with her elbow.

Tommy says, OH! SPARROW EYE...

[Footsteps rustling, owl hooting, upbeat music plays]

Pat stops and shines her light on a burrow at the base of a tree.

Pat says, UH! AH-HA! IN THERE...YOU'RE UP, AUDREY! YOU'RE THE MOST AGILE, YOU'LL MAKE LESS NOISE.

[Footsteps crunching, insects chittering]

Audrey creeps forward and puts the food bowl by the tree. She runs back and hides behind a bush with the others. The limping fox approaches the food.

Tommy whispers, HE'S THE ONE THAT'S HURT! IT LOOKS LIKE HE'S ALONE.

[Sniffing, nervous whimpering, munching, chuckling, owl hooting]

The fox eats the food. Later, Hector crouches beside the sleeping fox.

Hector says, IT'S A FEMALE. SHE GOT HER PAW CAUGHT IN SOME BARBED WIRE... I'LL TAKE IT OFF AND CLEAN THE WOUND.

[Clicking, fox growling, tense music plays]

Hector picks up the injured leg and unwinds the barbed wire. The other fox arrives.

Tommy says, NO... OH!

[Whooshing]

Pat stands between the children and the fox.

Pat says, OH! KIDS, GET, BEHIND ME! HECTOR?

Hector says, ALMOST DONE...

[Footsteps crunching, tense music plays]

Audrey moves under Pat’s arm and approaches the fox.

Pat says, AUDREY, NO!

Audrey says, HELLO. DO YOU REMEMBER ME?

[Thumping, loud growling]

The fox jumps from a rock to the ground.

Audrey says, OH! WE'RE HERE TO HELP! LET'S BE FRIENDS!

[Fox sniffing, Audrey quietly laughing, gentle music plays]

The fox sniffs Audrey’s hand. Hector wipes the female fox’s leg and stands up.

Hector says, AH! THERE WE GO! SHE'S GOOD!

[Audrey laughing softly, footsteps rustling, gentle music continues, fox whimpering, licking]

Everyone moves away from the foxes, and the uninjured fox approaches the sleeping female and licks her face.

Pat says, WE'LL BRING THEM SOMETHING TO EAT JUST TILL SHE'S HEALED. I COMMEND YOU, AUDREY, YOU WERE RIGHT TO FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCT.

[Audrey giggling, upbeat music plays]

Pat pats Audrey’s head.

Audrey says, TOMMY...? DO YOU WANT TO TRACK OUR FOOTPRINTS TO FIND THE WAY BACK?

[Whooshing]

Tommy points.

Tommy says, IT'S THAT WAY!

Audrey says, HUH? HOW DO YOU KNOW?

Tommy says, LESSON 26! DON'T FORGET TO LOOK UP!

[Everyone laughing]

Tommy points up at the greenhouse.

[Upbeat music plays]
