A flock of Canada geese fly over the Wilde Shelter, a tall greenhouse filled with plants and animals. The geese also fly over a veterinary clinic and a two-storey house.

Inside the greenhouse, Audrey, a young girl with red hair in a ponytail, stands on a tree branch. She wears a yellow jacket over an olive green shirt, black pants, and brown boots. Audrey whistles and startles butterflies. Standing on a rock nearby, Tommy watches Jack, a gorilla, land on the branch beside Audrey. Tommy wears a pale blue long-sleeve shirt and pale grey pants. Audrey stands as she slides down a rock past Karl and Pat. Karl, a slender young man with black hair and eyeglasses, watches Audrey slide past. Pat bottle-feeds a large grey kitten with black spots. Her black hair is pulled into a ponytail. Tommy rides Jack down the rock.

Audrey and Jack, still carrying Tommy, run past Jonas, a man with curly red hair. He lifts a rake over his head and spins as they pass.

The tall iron gates in front of the Shelter are open. A car stops in front of the greenhouse. When the car door opens, Tommy jumps out of the backseat.
[Doors clicking, Tommy grunting]
Tommy’s dads get out of the car. One of his dads has short wavy brown hair and wears eyeglasses, a jacket, a turtleneck, and jeans. His other dad has short brown hair and wears a yellow shirt and green pants.
Tommy’s wavy-haired dad asks, ARE YOU SURE YOU DON'T WANT TO COME TO THE NEW TECHNOLOGY FAIR?
Tommy’s brown-haired dad says, YEAH, THERE'S GONNA BE LOTS OF INTERESTING GADGETS.
[Birds chirping]
Tommy says, NO, THANKS. I'VE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO SPENDING TWO WHOLE DAYS WITH AUDREY AT THE REFUGE!
Tommy’s brown-haired dad says, BUT WE'VE NEVER BEEN APART FOR THIS LONG. ARE YOU SURE, BUNNY RABBIT?
Audrey says, TOMMY!

Audrey says, WE'RE GONNA HAVE SO MUCH FUN!

[Children laughing, bright music plays]
Tommy’s brown-haired dad, Noah, says, YES, WE'RE VERY EXCITED. BUT I ADMIT, WE'RE GONNA MISS OUR TOMMY QUITE A BIT.
Tommy says, HMM?
Tommy’s wavy-haired dad, Esteban, nods.
Hector says, IF IT'LL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER, YOU CAN CALL TOMMY ANY TIME YOU WANT.
[Rustling]
Noah says, THAT'S A GREAT IDEA! HERE YA GO, SON. I'LL LEAVE YOU MY TELEPHONE. WE'LL CALL YOU ON MY PHONE, BUT IT'S JUST FOR PHONE CALLS, OKAY? NOT FOR ONLINE GAMES. HMM?
Esteban says, KEEP IT WITH YOU ALL THE TIME. ALRIGHT, MY LITTLE KOALA?
Tommy says, UH, YEAH, OKAY.
Noah says, ALRIGHT, WE BETTER GO.
[Squeaking]
Noah and Esteban hug Tommy.
Esteban and Noah say, BIG HUGGAROO!
[Tommy’s dads laughing]
Tommy repeats, BIG HUGGAROO...

[Car engine rumbling, birds singing]
Tommy’s dads drive out of the Shelter.
Tommy says, MY DADS CAN BE A BIT MUCH SOMETIMES.
[Audrey giggling]
Audrey says, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, MY KOALA!
Tommy says, HMM.
Audrey says, COME ON. I'VE GOT SOMETHING TO SHOW YOU!
[Phone ringing, upbeat music plays]
Tommy takes out the phone.
Tommy says, UH...WOW. THEY WAITED A WHOLE 20 SECONDS TO CALL ME.
On the phone, Esteban says, HELLO, KITTEN.
Tommy says, HMM?
On the phone, Esteban says, I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE YOU BROUGHT YOUR P.J.’S.
Tommy says, YES, DAD.
Tommy says, WE MISS YOU ALREADY. BIG HUGGAROO.
Tommy says, BIG HUGGAROO.
Audrey shouts, BIG HUGGAROO!
Tommy says, HMM?
Tommy ends the call.
[Audrey giggling, beeping]
Tommy says, STOP THAT!
[Laughing]
Audrey says, YOUR PARENTS ARE SO SWEET. OKAY, NOW, COME AND SEE THE NEW ADDITION TO THE REFUGE!
[Laughter]
[Snorting]
In an examination room in the Veterinary clinic, Hector holds a stethoscope against a babirusa’s chest.
Hector says, MM-HMM. MM-HMM. HMM.
[Door slamming, upbeat music plays]
Audrey throws the door open and runs into the examination room with Tommy.
Hector shouts, OH!
Audrey says, THIS IS JOYO, THE BABIRUSA!
Tommy says, WOW!
Audrey says, HE'S FROM INDONESIA. WE SAVED HIM FROM A ZOO THAT DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR HIM TO BE COMFORTABLE!
Hector says, MM-HMM. HE'LL HAVE ALL THE SPACE HE WANTS HERE.
[Joyo snorting softly, squealing]
Tommy says, I READ SOMEWHERE THAT BABIRUSAS, TO DEFEND THEMSELVES, USE THEIR TEETH.
[Hector laughing]
Hector says, YES, THAT'S RIGHT, TOMMY. VETERINARIANS ARE SOMETIMES... DENTISTS. ANYWAY, I JUST HOPE JOYO DOESN'T SINK HIS TEETH INTO ME.
Tommy says, HMM?
Audrey says, DAD. OH, CAN WE TAKE JOYO AROUND THE REFUGE?
Hector says, YES, BUT HE'S GOT TO STAY CALM. JOYO IS ADORABLE, BUT IF HE GETS SCARED, HE COULD CAUSE DAMAGE OR INJURE ANOTHER ANIMAL BY ACCIDENT.
[Smacking]
Hector hits his fist against his palm.
[Snorting]
Tommy leads Joyo out of the clinic.
Audrey says, NO WORRIES, DAD!
[Children giggling, Joyo grunting]
[Birds calling]
In the greenhouse, Audrey and Tommy follow Joyo. He stops and rubs his face against a tree.
[Scraping, Joyo grunting]
Audrey says, HEY, LOOK! HE'S FILING DOWN HIS TUSKS SO THEY DON'T GROW TOO LONG.
Tommy takes out the phone.
Tommy says, WOW! AWESOME! OH, I SHOULD FILM THIS. SMALL ANECDOTE: BABIRUSAS CAN'T LET THEIR TUSKS GROW TOO LONG, OR THEY MIGHT GROW BACK INTO THEIR SKULL!
[Phone ringing, exclamations, Joyo grunting]
Tommy fumbles to catch his phone. Joyo startles, and Audrey hugs him.
Tommy says, AH, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? IT'S MY PARENTS AGAIN. HELLO. EVERYTHING'S FINE, NOTHING'S BROKEN, NOBODY'S SICK OR ANYTHING.
On the phone, Esteban says, HELLO. WE JUST WANTED TO HEAR YOUR VOICE, BUNNY RABBIT. WE MISS YOU ALREADY.
[Audrey giggling]
Tommy says, HMM. I MISS YOU, TOO. BUT I'D MISS YOU MORE IF YOU DIDN'T CALL SO OFTEN. BYE.
On the phone, Tommy’s dads say, HUGGAROO.
[Audrey giggling, Joyo snorting]
Tommy asks, AH. HEY, WHERE'S HE GOING?!
[Panting, grunting, sniffing, bushes rustling, Jack vocalizing, fists thumping, Joyo growling]
Audrey and Tommy chase Joyo. Joyo enters a clearing and wakes Jack, who slams his fists into the ground. Joyo lowers his head, and he and Jack circle each other.
Audrey says, IT'S ALRIGHT, JACK! BABIRUSAS AREN'T REALLY AGGRESSIVE. THAT'S JUST WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE WHEN THEY'RE SCARED. JOYO IS OUR NEW FRIEND. JOYO, THIS IS JACK.
[Jack vocalizing, grunting, squealing, birds chirping]
Jack and Joyo sniff each other. They hop around playfully.
Audrey says, YOU SEE? NOW YOU'RE REALLY GOOD BUDDIES!
Tommy asks, ARE YOU SURE JOYO'S CALM ENOUGH?
Audrey says, OH, DON'T WORRY. NOTHING'S GONNA SCARE HIM NOW.
Onyx, a binturong, climbs down a tree behind Joyo.
[Onyx yowling, dramatic music plays]
Joyo startles and bolts past Tommy.
Audrey says, HMM? AH!
Tommy says, WHOA! OOPS! YOU SPOKE TOO SOON!
Audrey says, HURRY! WE'VE GOTTA CATCH JOYO AND CALM HIM DOWN BEFORE IT GETS OUT OF HAND!
[Panting, bushes rustling, exclamations, Jack grunting, tense music plays]
Audrey grabs Tommy’s arm and yanks him behind her into a bush.
Tommy says, AH! HMM? WAIT. WHERE DID HE GO?
Audrey says, NO IDEA. WE'VE GOTTA FIND HIM!
[Phone ringing, Tommy groaning]
Tommy says, HELLO.
On the phone, Esteban says, HEY!
Tommy says, ALL GOOD. I'M A LITTLE BUSY RIGHT NOW.
On the phone, Esteban says, HELLO, MY PUFFIN. DID YOU REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR TEDDY BEAR? WE COULD GO AND GET IT FOR YOU IF YOU WANT.
Tommy says, I CAN'T TALK NOW. SEE YOU LATER. ARGH.
[Rustling, gentle music plays]
Tommy puts the phone in his pocket.
In the car, Esteban says, HMM?
Noah asks, UH, EVERYTHING OKAY?
Esteban says, HE SEEMS REALLY BUSY. I'LL CALL BACK IN A MINUTE.
Noah says, TAKE IT EASY THERE, ESTEBAN. WE NEED TO GIVE OUR SON A LITTLE FREEDOM. SOUND GOOD?
Esteban says, YOU'RE RIGHT, NOAH. AH! I FORGOT TO ASK HIM IF HE BRUSHED HIS TEETH!
[Esteban whimpering, dialling phone, birds singing]
Tommy says, OKAY, THEY SHOULD LEAVE ME IN PEACE FOR A WHILE. LET'S GO FIND JOYO!
[Phone ringing, upbeat music plays]
In a dark cave, bats hang upside down from the ceiling. Jack, Audrey, and Tommy walk beneath them.
Tommy says, UH...
[Bats shushing, screaming]
Bats chase Tommy out of the cave. Later, he and Audrey walk past a ladder. At the top of the ladder, Karl washes a window.
[Karl humming, phone ringing]
Karl shouts, AH!
[Clanking, water splashing]
Karl knocks over a bucket of water, which falls on Tommy’s head. Later, Jack, Tommy, and Audrey peer around a tree with a butterfly on a root.
[Phone ringing, thunking, groaning]
Tommy startles and hits his head on the root.
[Phone ringing, flapping]
Birds startle and take flight.
Audrey says, HMM?
[Tommy groaning]
[Phone ringing, Tommy exclaiming]
[Phone ringing, Tommy exclaiming]
[Phone ringing, Tommy exclaiming]
Tommy shouts, THAT'S ENOUGH!!!
[Flapping]
Birds fly out of the trees. IN the jungle, Tommy follows behind Audrey. He has narrowed eyes and clenched fists. Jack walks behind Tommy.
[Grumbling, footsteps thudding, upbeat music plays]
Audrey says, LOOK AT THAT! HOOFPRINTS.
Tommy says, HE CAN'T BE FAR.
[Distant squealing, tense music plays]
Tommy says, HMM?
[Soft grunting]
Audrey and Tommy crawl under a bush.
Tommy says, OH. OH.
[Grunting, bushes rustling]
Audrey parts a bush, and on the other side, Joyo rubs his head against a tree.
Audrey says, WE'VE GOT HIM!
[Dramatic music plays, phone ringing, Joyo grunting, thudding]
Audrey leaps towards Joyo, and the phone startles him. He runs away, and Audrey lands on the ground.
Audrey says, GAH! AH! OH!
[Joyo squealing, hoofbeats]
Tommy says, YES, I BROUGHT AN EXTRA PAIR OF SOCKS. BYE.
[Bushes rustling, birds singing]
Audrey says, ARGH! CAN'T YOU TELL THEM NOT TO CALL YOU EVERY TWO MINUTES?! YOU'RE NOT A LITTLE KID ANYMORE!
Tommy says, I KNOW, AUDREY. LOOK, I'LL PUT IT ON VIBRATE. THEN IT WON'T BOTHER US ANYMORE. HEE-HEE.
[Thumping]
Tommy puts the phone into his pocket, and it falls out.
[Phone buzzing, peel rustling, birds singing, munching, Jack vocalizing, thumping, upbeat music plays, turtle squeaking, bushes rustling]
In a clearing, Jack peels a banana. He eats it and then searches for the phone. He looks under a rock and a turtle. He finds the phone, picks it up, looks at a photograph of Tommy and his dad, and kisses the screen.
[Chiming, smooching]
On the phone, Esteban says, HELLO, TOMMY. I KNOW I PROMISED NOT TO CALL YOU SO OFTEN, BUT... TOMMY? PUT YOURSELF ON SCREEN. I CAN'T SEE YOU, MY LITTLE WOLFIE.
[Jack vocalizing, gentle music plays]
Noah says, OH, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU'VE CAUGHT A COLD. YOUR VOICE IS SO RASPY.
[Jack vocalizing, whooshing, vine creaking]
In the greenhouse, Jack swings on a vine and shakes the phone.
[Leaves rustling]
In the car, Esteban watches trees pass on the phone screen.
Esteban says, TOMMY? TOMMY, ANSWER ME! TOMMY, WHAT IS GOING ON THERE?
[Esteban whimpering]
Esteban says, STOP! STOP THE CAR!
[Noah groaning, tires screeching, banging, Esteban whimpering, scratching]
Noah stops the car on a deserted highway. Esteban shows him the phone screen, which shows an extreme close-up of Jack’s hair.
Noah asks, WHAT'S HAPPENING, TOMMY? TOMMY!
In the greenhouse, Jack scratches his head with the phone and drops it.
In the car, Esteban says, AH! TOMMY! I THINK HE FELL DOWN!
[Noah whimpering, clattering, upbeat music plays, chirping, flapping, tense music plays]
A bird picks up the phone and flies.
In the car, Esteban says, OH, NO! WHAT IS GOING ON?!
[Muffled chirping, Babou vocalizing, lively music plays]
Babou takes the phone from the bird and peers into it.
Tommy’s dads say, HMM?!
[Babou vocalizing, phone crunching]
Babou bites the phone and then throws it.
Tommy’s dads say, OH, NO!
[Joyo grunting, sniffing]
Joyo sniffs the phone.
Esteban says, NOAH, DO SOMETHING! OUR BOY IS IN DANGER!
Noah asks, WHAT THE HECK DO YOU WANT ME TO DO? I CAN'T MAKE A U-TURN.
Esteban says, HMM?
[Joyo squealing]
Tommy’s dads shout, AH! A DEMON! HOLD ON, TOMMY! WE'RE COMING!
[Tires screeching]
Noah makes a U-turn.
[Joyo grunting, leaves rustling]
Audrey and Tommy peer through a bush at Joyo.
Audrey says, THERE HE IS! EEE...
[Phone buzzing, Joyo squealing]
Joyo runs away.
Audrey and Tommy say, HUH?
Audrey says, NOT AGAIN.
Tommy says, HUH? MY DAD'S PHONE?
[Phone buzzing]
Tommy says, HOW DID IT END UP HERE?
[Distant grunting, birds calling]
Audrey says, NO TIME TO ANSWER IT! I HEAR JOYO! THAT WAY! COME ON, TOMMY, LET'S GO!
[Panting, squeaking, rustling, lively music plays]
Audrey pulls Tommy behind her, and they run.
Tommy says, SLOW DOWN! I'M GONNA FALL!
[Exclamations, smacking]
Audrey stops suddenly, and Tommy smacks his nose on the back of her head.
Tommy says, OW!
[Squealing]
Audrey says, HEAR THAT? IT'S HIM!
Audrey pulls Tommy behind her. In a clearing, Joyo has a thick branch stuck between his tusks and his eyes.
Tommy says, WHOA!
[Squealing, children panting, Joyo grunting]
Audrey says, AH! WE'LL GET THAT OFF OF YOU, JOYO.
[Panting]
Audrey says, JACK? WE NEED YOUR HELP!
[Jack vocalizing, thumping, tense music plays]
Jack jumps down from a branch and makes the American Sign Language sign for help.
Audrey says, YES, JACK. JOYO NEEDS SOME HELP.
[Joyo squealing]
Jack walks to Joyo.
Tommy says, OH.
[Jack vocalizing, Joyo squealing, thumping, exclamations, tense music plays]
Jack reaches for the branch, and Joyo kicks his chest.
Tommy says, AH!
Tommy says, JACK CAN'T HELP HIM IF HE KEEPS STRUGGLING LIKE THAT.
Audrey says, YOU'RE RIGHT, TOMMY. EASY, JOYO. EASY NOW. SHHH...
[Grunting softly]
Audrey says, THERE. YOU'RE OKAY. GO ON, JACK. NOW'S THE TIME. GO AHEAD.
[Jack vocalizing, creaking, upbeat music plays]
Jack lifts the branch off Joyo’s tusks.
Tommy says, WELL DONE, JACK!
[Joyo squealing, hoofbeats]
Joyo runs away.
The children say, HMM?
Audrey says, ARGH. IF IT ISN'T THE PHONE, IT'S... HEY. IT HASN'T RUNG FOR A REALLY LONG TIME NOW.
[Dramatic music plays, smacking]
Tommy looks at his phone and hits his forehead.
Tommy says, AH! I'VE GOT, LIKE, 20 MISSED CALLS!
In the distance, Noah shouts, WHERE ARE YOU, TOMMY?!
Tommy says, HMM?
In the distance, Esteban shouts, TOMMY!
Tommy says, MM-MM...
Someone shouts, TOMMY!
Audrey says, HUH? THAT'S WEIRD. I CAN EVEN HEAR THEM.
Someone shouts, TOMMY!
Tommy says, ME TOO. UH, DAD?
Noah and Esteban run into the clearing.
Noah says, THERE HE IS!
Esteban says, YES, I SEE HIM.
[Panting]
Hector says, I TOLD YOU EVERYTHING WAS ALRIGHT.
[Thumping, Tommy grunting]
Esteban hugs Tommy.
Esteban says, THANK GOODNESS YOU'RE SAFE! LUCKILY, WE GOT HERE JUST IN TIME.
Audrey asks, IN TIME FOR WHAT? DINNER?
Noah says, HMM? HMM?
[Snoring, animals vocalizing, rustling, gentle music plays]
Noah looks around the clearing. Jack leans against a tree and sleeps, and Babou hangs from a branch in front of him. Onyx peers out of a bush.
Audrey waves and says, HEH-HEH-HEH...
Noah says, SO, YOU WEREN'T BEING ATTACKED BY THE ANIMALS. IT SURE SEEMED LIKE IT.
[Audrey laughing]
Audrey says, WE WEREN'T BEING ATTACKED. TOMMY JUST LOST YOUR CELLPHONE, AND I GET A FEELING THE ANIMALS BORROWED IT.
[Hector chuckling]
Hector says, SILLY BABOU. HEH-HEH.
[Solemn music plays]
Tommy says, AW... I'M REALLY SORRY. I WAS TIRED OF GETTING CALLS EVERY TWO MINUTES. LOOK, I'M A BIG BOY NOW. I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF. BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T MISS YOU BOTH.
Esteban says, I-I MIGHT'VE OVERREACTED JUST A LITTLE BIT. I GUESS IT'S ACTUALLY US WHO HAVE TROUBLE MANAGING WITHOUT YOU.
[Tommy giggling]
Noah says, WE'LL ONLY CALL YOU IN THE MORNING AND AT NIGHT, BUNNY RABBIT. BUT ON HECTOR'S CELLPHONE, ALRIGHT?
Noah shakes water off his phone.
[Joyo squealing, dramatic music plays]
Joyo stares at Tommy’s dads.

Esteban hugs Tommy, and Joyo runs past them to Jack.

Audrey stands as she slides down a rock past Karl and Pat. Karl, a slender young man with black hair and eyeglasses, watches Audrey slide past. Pat bottle-feeds a large grey kitten with black spots. Her black hair is pulled into a ponytail. Tommy rides Jack down the rock.

Audrey and Jack, still carrying Tommy, run past Jonas, a man with curly red hair. He lifts a rake over his head and spins as they pass.

The tall iron gates in front of the Shelter are open. A car stops in front of the greenhouse. When the car door opens, Tommy jumps out of the backseat.
[Doors clicking, Tommy grunting]
Tommy’s dads get out of the car. One of his dads has short wavy brown hair and wears eyeglasses, a jacket, a turtleneck, and jeans. His other dad has short brown hair and wears a yellow shirt and green pants.
Tommy’s wavy-haired dad asks, ARE YOU SURE YOU DON'T WANT TO COME TO THE NEW TECHNOLOGY FAIR?
Tommy’s brown-haired dad says, YEAH, THERE'S GONNA BE LOTS OF INTERESTING GADGETS.
[Birds chirping]
Tommy says, NO, THANKS. I'VE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO SPENDING TWO WHOLE DAYS WITH AUDREY AT THE REFUGE!
Tommy’s brown-haired dad says, BUT WE'VE NEVER BEEN APART FOR THIS LONG. ARE YOU SURE, BUNNY RABBIT?
Audrey says, TOMMY!
Tommy’s brown-haired dad says, OH?
Audrey says, WE'RE GONNA HAVE SO MUCH FUN!
Hector says, HELLO, NOAH! HELLO, ESTEBAN! HI THERE, TOMMY. SO, IS EVERYBODY READY TO HAVE A GREAT COUPLE OF DAYS?
[Children laughing, bright music plays]
Tommy’s brown-haired dad, Noah, says, YES, WE'RE VERY EXCITED. BUT I ADMIT, WE'RE GONNA MISS OUR TOMMY QUITE A BIT.
Tommy says, HMM?
Tommy’s wavy-haired dad, Esteban, nods.
Hector says, IF IT'LL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER, YOU CAN CALL TOMMY ANY TIME YOU WANT.
[Rustling]
Noah says, THAT'S A GREAT IDEA! HERE YA GO, SON. I'LL LEAVE YOU MY TELEPHONE. WE'LL CALL YOU ON MY PHONE, BUT IT'S JUST FOR PHONE CALLS, OKAY? NOT FOR ONLINE GAMES. HMM?
Esteban says, KEEP IT WITH YOU ALL THE TIME. ALRIGHT, MY LITTLE KOALA?
Tommy says, UH, YEAH, OKAY.
Noah says, ALRIGHT, WE BETTER GO.
[Squeaking]
Noah and Esteban hug Tommy.
Esteban and Noah say, BIG HUGGAROO!
[Tommy’s dads laughing]
Tommy repeats, BIG HUGGAROO...
Noah says, HMM.
[Car engine rumbling, birds singing]
Tommy’s dads drive out of the Shelter.
Tommy says, MY DADS CAN BE A BIT MUCH SOMETIMES.
[Audrey giggling]
Audrey says, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, MY KOALA!
Tommy says, HMM.
Audrey says, COME ON. I'VE GOT SOMETHING TO SHOW YOU!
[Phone ringing, upbeat music plays]
Tommy takes out the phone.
Tommy says, UH...WOW. THEY WAITED A WHOLE 20 SECONDS TO CALL ME.
On the phone, Esteban says, HELLO, KITTEN.
Tommy says, HMM?
On the phone, Esteban says, I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE YOU BROUGHT YOUR P.J.’S.
Tommy says, YES, DAD.
Tommy says, WE MISS YOU ALREADY. BIG HUGGAROO.
Tommy says, BIG HUGGAROO.
Audrey shouts, BIG HUGGAROO!
Tommy says, HMM?
Tommy ends the call.
[Audrey giggling, beeping]
Tommy says, STOP THAT!
[Laughing]
Audrey says, YOUR PARENTS ARE SO SWEET. OKAY, NOW, COME AND SEE THE NEW ADDITION TO THE REFUGE!
[Laughter]
[Snorting]
In an examination room in the Veterinary clinic, Hector holds a stethoscope against a babirusa’s chest.
Hector says, MM-HMM. MM-HMM. HMM.
[Door slamming, upbeat music plays]
Audrey throws the door open and runs into the examination room with Tommy.
Hector shouts, OH!
Audrey says, THIS IS JOYO, THE BABIRUSA!
Tommy says, WOW!
Audrey says, HE'S FROM INDONESIA. WE SAVED HIM FROM A ZOO THAT DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR HIM TO BE COMFORTABLE!
Hector says, MM-HMM. HE'LL HAVE ALL THE SPACE HE WANTS HERE.
[Joyo snorting softly, squealing]
Tommy says, I READ SOMEWHERE THAT BABIRUSAS, TO DEFEND THEMSELVES, USE THEIR TEETH.
[Hector laughing]
Hector says, YES, THAT'S RIGHT, TOMMY. VETERINARIANS ARE SOMETIMES... DENTISTS. ANYWAY, I JUST HOPE JOYO DOESN'T SINK HIS TEETH INTO ME.
Tommy says, HMM?
Audrey says, DAD. OH, CAN WE TAKE JOYO AROUND THE REFUGE?
Hector says, YES, BUT HE'S GOT TO STAY CALM. JOYO IS ADORABLE, BUT IF HE GETS SCARED, HE COULD CAUSE DAMAGE OR INJURE ANOTHER ANIMAL BY ACCIDENT.
[Smacking]
Hector hits his fist against his palm.
[Snorting]
Tommy leads Joyo out of the clinic.
Audrey says, NO WORRIES, DAD!
[Children giggling, Joyo grunting]
[Birds calling]
In the greenhouse, Audrey and Tommy follow Joyo. He stops and rubs his face against a tree.
[Scraping, Joyo grunting]
Audrey says, HEY, LOOK! HE'S FILING DOWN HIS TUSKS SO THEY DON'T GROW TOO LONG.
Tommy takes out the phone.
Tommy says, WOW! AWESOME! OH, I SHOULD FILM THIS. SMALL ANECDOTE: BABIRUSAS CAN'T LET THEIR TUSKS GROW TOO LONG, OR THEY MIGHT GROW BACK INTO THEIR SKULL!
[Phone ringing, exclamations, Joyo grunting]
Tommy fumbles to catch his phone. Joyo startles, and Audrey hugs him.
Tommy says, AH, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? IT'S MY PARENTS AGAIN. HELLO. EVERYTHING'S FINE, NOTHING'S BROKEN, NOBODY'S SICK OR ANYTHING.
On the phone, Esteban says, HELLO. WE JUST WANTED TO HEAR YOUR VOICE, BUNNY RABBIT. WE MISS YOU ALREADY.
[Audrey giggling]
Tommy says, HMM. I MISS YOU, TOO. BUT I'D MISS YOU MORE IF YOU DIDN'T CALL SO OFTEN. BYE.
On the phone, Tommy’s dads say, HUGGAROO.
[Audrey giggling, Joyo snorting]
Tommy asks, AH. HEY, WHERE'S HE GOING?!
[Panting, grunting, sniffing, bushes rustling, Jack vocalizing, fists thumping, Joyo growling]
Audrey and Tommy chase Joyo. Joyo enters a clearing and wakes Jack, who slams his fists into the ground. Joyo lowers his head, and he and Jack circle each other.
Audrey says, IT'S ALRIGHT, JACK! BABIRUSAS AREN'T REALLY AGGRESSIVE. THAT'S JUST WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE WHEN THEY'RE SCARED. JOYO IS OUR NEW FRIEND. JOYO, THIS IS JACK.
[Jack vocalizing, grunting, squealing, birds chirping]
Jack and Joyo sniff each other. They hop around playfully.
Audrey says, YOU SEE? NOW YOU'RE REALLY GOOD BUDDIES!
Tommy asks, ARE YOU SURE JOYO'S CALM ENOUGH?
Audrey says, OH, DON'T WORRY. NOTHING'S GONNA SCARE HIM NOW.
Onyx, a binturong, climbs down a tree behind Joyo.
[Onyx yowling, dramatic music plays]
Joyo startles and bolts past Tommy.
Audrey says, HMM? AH!
Tommy says, WHOA! OOPS! YOU SPOKE TOO SOON!
Audrey says, HURRY! WE'VE GOTTA CATCH JOYO AND CALM HIM DOWN BEFORE IT GETS OUT OF HAND!
[Panting, bushes rustling, exclamations, Jack grunting, tense music plays]
Audrey grabs Tommy’s arm and yanks him behind her into a bush.
Tommy says, AH! HMM? WAIT. WHERE DID HE GO?
Audrey says, NO IDEA. WE'VE GOTTA FIND HIM!
[Phone ringing, Tommy groaning]
Tommy says, HELLO.
On the phone, Esteban says, HEY!
Tommy says, ALL GOOD. I'M A LITTLE BUSY RIGHT NOW.
On the phone, Esteban says, HELLO, MY PUFFIN. DID YOU REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR TEDDY BEAR? WE COULD GO AND GET IT FOR YOU IF YOU WANT.
Tommy says, I CAN'T TALK NOW. SEE YOU LATER. ARGH.
[Rustling, gentle music plays]
Tommy puts the phone in his pocket.
In the car, Esteban says, HMM?
Noah asks, UH, EVERYTHING OKAY?
Esteban says, HE SEEMS REALLY BUSY. I'LL CALL BACK IN A MINUTE.
Noah says, TAKE IT EASY THERE, ESTEBAN. WE NEED TO GIVE OUR SON A LITTLE FREEDOM. SOUND GOOD?
Esteban says, YOU'RE RIGHT, NOAH. AH! I FORGOT TO ASK HIM IF HE BRUSHED HIS TEETH!
[Esteban whimpering, dialling phone, birds singing]
Tommy says, OKAY, THEY SHOULD LEAVE ME IN PEACE FOR A WHILE. LET'S GO FIND JOYO!
[Phone ringing, upbeat music plays]
In a dark cave, bats hang upside down from the ceiling. Jack, Audrey, and Tommy walk beneath them.
Tommy says, UH...
[Bats shushing, screaming]
Bats chase Tommy out of the cave. Later, he and Audrey walk past a ladder. At the top of the ladder, Karl washes a window.
[Karl humming, phone ringing]
Karl shouts, AH!
[Clanking, water splashing]
Karl knocks over a bucket of water, which falls on Tommy’s head. Later, Jack, Tommy, and Audrey peer around a tree with a butterfly on a root.
[Phone ringing, thunking, groaning]
Tommy startles and hits his head on the root.
[Phone ringing, flapping]
Birds startle and take flight.
Audrey says, HMM?
[Tommy groaning]
[Phone ringing, Tommy exclaiming]
[Phone ringing, Tommy exclaiming]
[Phone ringing, Tommy exclaiming]
Tommy shouts, THAT'S ENOUGH!!!
[Flapping]
Birds fly out of the trees. IN the jungle, Tommy follows behind Audrey. He has narrowed eyes and clenched fists. Jack walks behind Tommy.
[Grumbling, footsteps thudding, upbeat music plays]
Audrey says, LOOK AT THAT! HOOFPRINTS.
Tommy says, HE CAN'T BE FAR.
[Distant squealing, tense music plays]
Tommy says, HMM?
[Soft grunting]
Audrey and Tommy crawl under a bush.
Tommy says, OH. OH.
[Grunting, bushes rustling]
Audrey parts a bush, and on the other side, Joyo rubs his head against a tree.
Audrey says, WE'VE GOT HIM!
[Dramatic music plays, phone ringing, Joyo grunting, thudding]
Audrey leaps towards Joyo, and the phone startles him. He runs away, and Audrey lands on the ground.
Audrey says, GAH! AH! OH!
[Joyo squealing, hoofbeats]
Tommy says, YES, I BROUGHT AN EXTRA PAIR OF SOCKS. BYE.
[Bushes rustling, birds singing]
Audrey says, ARGH! CAN'T YOU TELL THEM NOT TO CALL YOU EVERY TWO MINUTES?! YOU'RE NOT A LITTLE KID ANYMORE!
Tommy says, I KNOW, AUDREY. LOOK, I'LL PUT IT ON VIBRATE. THEN IT WON'T BOTHER US ANYMORE. HEE-HEE.
[Thumping]
Tommy puts the phone into his pocket, and it falls out.
[Phone buzzing, peel rustling, birds singing, munching, Jack vocalizing, thumping, upbeat music plays, turtle squeaking, bushes rustling]
In a clearing, Jack peels a banana. He eats it and then searches for the phone. He looks under a rock and a turtle. He finds the phone, picks it up, looks at a photograph of Tommy and his dad, and kisses the screen.
[Chiming, smooching]
On the phone, Esteban says, HELLO, TOMMY. I KNOW I PROMISED NOT TO CALL YOU SO OFTEN, BUT... TOMMY? PUT YOURSELF ON SCREEN. I CAN'T SEE YOU, MY LITTLE WOLFIE.
[Jack vocalizing, gentle music plays]
Noah says, OH, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU'VE CAUGHT A COLD. YOUR VOICE IS SO RASPY.
[Jack vocalizing, whooshing, vine creaking]
In the greenhouse, Jack swings on a vine and shakes the phone.
[Leaves rustling]
In the car, Esteban watches trees pass on the phone screen.
Esteban says, TOMMY? TOMMY, ANSWER ME! TOMMY, WHAT IS GOING ON THERE?
[Esteban whimpering]
Esteban says, STOP! STOP THE CAR!
[Noah groaning, tires screeching, banging, Esteban whimpering, scratching]
Noah stops the car on a deserted highway. Esteban shows him the phone screen, which shows an extreme close-up of Jack’s hair.
Noah asks, WHAT'S HAPPENING, TOMMY? TOMMY!
In the greenhouse, Jack scratches his head with the phone and drops it.
In the car, Esteban says, AH! TOMMY! I THINK HE FELL DOWN!
[Noah whimpering, clattering, upbeat music plays, chirping, flapping, tense music plays]
A bird picks up the phone and flies.
In the car, Esteban says, OH, NO! WHAT IS GOING ON?!
[Muffled chirping, Babou vocalizing, lively music plays]
Babou takes the phone from the bird and peers into it.
Tommy’s dads say, HMM?!
[Babou vocalizing, phone crunching]
Babou bites the phone and then throws it.
Tommy’s dads say, OH, NO!
[Joyo grunting, sniffing]
Joyo sniffs the phone.
Esteban says, NOAH, DO SOMETHING! OUR BOY IS IN DANGER!
Noah asks, WHAT THE HECK DO YOU WANT ME TO DO? I CAN'T MAKE A U-TURN.
Esteban says, HMM?
[Joyo squealing]
Tommy’s dads shout, AH! A DEMON! HOLD ON, TOMMY! WE'RE COMING!
[Tires screeching]
Noah makes a U-turn.
[Joyo grunting, leaves rustling]
Audrey and Tommy peer through a bush at Joyo.
Audrey says, THERE HE IS! EEE...
[Phone buzzing, Joyo squealing]
Joyo runs away.
Audrey and Tommy say, HUH?
Audrey says, NOT AGAIN.
Tommy says, HUH? MY DAD'S PHONE?
[Phone buzzing]
Tommy says, HOW DID IT END UP HERE?
[Distant grunting, birds calling]
Audrey says, NO TIME TO ANSWER IT! I HEAR JOYO! THAT WAY! COME ON, TOMMY, LET'S GO!
[Panting, squeaking, rustling, lively music plays]
Audrey pulls Tommy behind her, and they run.
Tommy says, SLOW DOWN! I'M GONNA FALL!
[Exclamations, smacking]
Audrey stops suddenly, and Tommy smacks his nose on the back of her head.
Tommy says, OW!
[Squealing]
Audrey says, HEAR THAT? IT'S HIM!
Audrey pulls Tommy behind her. In a clearing, Joyo has a thick branch stuck between his tusks and his eyes.
Tommy says, WHOA!
[Squealing, children panting, Joyo grunting]
Audrey says, AH! WE'LL GET THAT OFF OF YOU, JOYO.
[Panting]
Audrey says, JACK? WE NEED YOUR HELP!
[Jack vocalizing, thumping, tense music plays]
Jack jumps down from a branch and makes the American Sign Language sign for help.
Audrey says, YES, JACK. JOYO NEEDS SOME HELP.
[Joyo squealing]
Jack walks to Joyo.
Tommy says, OH.
[Jack vocalizing, Joyo squealing, thumping, exclamations, tense music plays]
Jack reaches for the branch, and Joyo kicks his chest.
Tommy says, AH!
Tommy says, JACK CAN'T HELP HIM IF HE KEEPS STRUGGLING LIKE THAT.
Audrey says, YOU'RE RIGHT, TOMMY. EASY, JOYO. EASY NOW. SHHH...
[Grunting softly]
Audrey says, THERE. YOU'RE OKAY. GO ON, JACK. NOW'S THE TIME. GO AHEAD.
[Jack vocalizing, creaking, upbeat music plays]
Jack lifts the branch off Joyo’s tusks.
Tommy says, WELL DONE, JACK!
[Joyo squealing, hoofbeats]
Joyo runs away.
The children say, HMM?
Audrey says, ARGH. IF IT ISN'T THE PHONE, IT'S... HEY. IT HASN'T RUNG FOR A REALLY LONG TIME NOW.
[Dramatic music plays, smacking]
Tommy looks at his phone and hits his forehead.
Tommy says, AH! I'VE GOT, LIKE, 20 MISSED CALLS!
In the distance, Noah shouts, WHERE ARE YOU, TOMMY?!
Tommy says, HMM?
In the distance, Esteban shouts, TOMMY!
Tommy says, MM-MM...
Someone shouts, TOMMY!
Audrey says, HUH? THAT'S WEIRD. I CAN EVEN HEAR THEM.
Someone shouts, TOMMY!
Tommy says, ME TOO. UH, DAD?
Noah and Esteban run into the clearing.
Noah says, THERE HE IS!
Esteban says, YES, I SEE HIM.
[Panting]
Hector says, I TOLD YOU EVERYTHING WAS ALRIGHT.
[Thumping, Tommy grunting]
Esteban hugs Tommy.
Esteban says, THANK GOODNESS YOU'RE SAFE! LUCKILY, WE GOT HERE JUST IN TIME.
Audrey asks, IN TIME FOR WHAT? DINNER?
Noah says, HMM? HMM?
[Snoring, animals vocalizing, rustling, gentle music plays]
Noah looks around the clearing. Jack leans against a tree and sleeps, and Babou hangs from a branch in front of him. Onyx peers out of a bush.
Audrey waves and says, HEH-HEH-HEH...
Noah says, SO, YOU WEREN'T BEING ATTACKED BY THE ANIMALS. IT SURE SEEMED LIKE IT.
[Audrey laughing]
Audrey says, WE WEREN'T BEING ATTACKED. TOMMY JUST LOST YOUR CELLPHONE, AND I GET A FEELING THE ANIMALS BORROWED IT.
[Hector chuckling]
Hector says, SILLY BABOU. HEH-HEH.
[Solemn music plays]
Tommy says, AW... I'M REALLY SORRY. I WAS TIRED OF GETTING CALLS EVERY TWO MINUTES. LOOK, I'M A BIG BOY NOW. I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF. BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T MISS YOU BOTH.
Esteban says, I-I MIGHT'VE OVERREACTED JUST A LITTLE BIT. I GUESS IT'S ACTUALLY US WHO HAVE TROUBLE MANAGING WITHOUT YOU.
[Tommy giggling]
Noah says, WE'LL ONLY CALL YOU IN THE MORNING AND AT NIGHT, BUNNY RABBIT. BUT ON HECTOR'S CELLPHONE, ALRIGHT?
Noah shakes water off his phone.
[Joyo squealing, dramatic music plays]
Joyo stares at Tommy’s dads.
They both say, HMM?!
[Ferocious squealing]
Tommy’s dads say, THE DEMON! WATCH OUT!
[Dramatic music plays, hoofbeats running]
Esteban hugs Tommy, and Joyo runs past them to Jack.
Tommy says, HMM?
[Upbeat music plays, squealing, thumping, Jack vocalizing]
Jack and Joyo play.
[Hector chuckling]
Tommy says, I'D LIKE YOU TO MEET JOYO, AN ADORABLE BABIRUSA WHO'S NOT DANGEROUS.
