Audrey leaps over debris on her floor and throws the sock into a laundry basket by Tommy.
Audrey says, WELL...I'M JUST CLEANING UP! HOW COME? WHAT DID YOU WANNA DO?
[Pages rustling]
Tommy says, UH... BUILD A PIRAHA WALKING STICK! LOOK! IT'S A BOOK ABOUT INDIGENOUS PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN NATURE. THEY MAKE EVERYTHING FROM THE PLANTS AND ANIMALS AROUND THEM. IT'S AWESOME!
Audrey says, THAT'S A GREAT IDEA! BUT I HAVE TO FINISH CLEANING MY ROOM FIRST. I THINK MY DAD WAS SERIOUS THIS TIME. HMM...
In a flashback, Hector says, AUDREY?
Audrey says, HMM?
[Door clicking, wheels rattling]

[Crashing, thudding]

[Whooshing]
Audrey says, YES! YES! SEE YOU LATER, DAD!
[Footsteps running]

Tommy asks, DID YOU JUST HEAR THAT?
[Audrey grunts]
Audrey shrugs.
Tommy says, HMM?
[Joyo snoring, cheerful music plays]
Joyo, a babirusa, lies sleeping on the ground.
Tommy says, AW...
[Munching, Babou hooting, animals chittering]

Audrey says, SOME PEOPLE ARE SO LUCKY.
[Footsteps rustling]

[Upbeat music plays quietly]
Audrey says, WHAT?! BUT DAD! WHY CLEAN WHEN WE'RE JUST GONNA MESS IT UP AGAIN? THERE'S JUST NO POINT!
[Rustling, Joyo snoring loudly, whooshing]
Audrey asks, WHY CAN'T WE HUMANS LIVE LIKE THE ANIMALS? THEY DON'T CLEAN UP, THEY DON'T WASH THE DISHES, THEY DON'T TIDY THEIR ROOMS AND THEY ARE ALL HAPPY!
Hector says, WELL, I WOULDN'T QUITE SAY THAT, BUT I CAN PROMISE YOU THEIR LIVES ARE HARD. EVEN YOU PROBABLY COULDN'T LAST A DAY IN THEIR SHOES.
[Whooshing]
Hector points at Audrey.
Audrey says, HM. I'M SURE I COULD! HMM! AND IF I CAN, NO MORE CHORES FOR... FOR THREE WEEKS!
Hector says, OH, YEAH? AND IF IT TURNS OUT YOU CAN'T? YOU'LL DO THEM WITHOUT COMPLAINING ALL DAY? YOU WON'T SAY, "I'LL DO IT LATER, DAD! LET IT GO, DAD! JUST LET ME FINISH THIS FIRST AND I'LL DO IT, DAD!"
[Hector chuckling]
Audrey says, I KNOW I CAN DO IT! AND I DON'T TALK LIKE THAT! YOUR IMPRESSION OF ME IS AWFUL! HMPH!
Hector says, ALRIGHT, IT'S A BET. TWENTY-FOUR HOURS LIVING LIKE THE ANIMALS, AND YOU'LL BE EXCUSED FROM ALL YOUR CHORES FOR THREE WEEKS!
[Hands slapping, beeping, chuckling]
Hector and Audrey high-five. He looks at a timer on his cell phone.
Hector says, I'LL SEE YOU TOMORROW AT 11 A.M.!
[Whooshing, birds chirping]
Tommy runs between Hector and Audrey.

[Rustling]
Hector scratches his head.

Tommy says, THANK YOU!
[Upbeat music plays, birds chirping, vine creaking, whooshing]

Audrey says, AH! I'M FINALLY FREE! WHADDYA WANNA PLAY? HIDE AND SEEK? OR MAYBE PLAY PIRATES? WAIT, I'M BEING SO SILLY. WE'RE GONNA PLAY... HUH?
[Tommy grunting, thunking]
Tommy hits a gourd with a stone.
Audrey says, UH... TOMMY? ARE YOU OKAY?
Tommy says, IT'S A TECHNIQUE I LEARNED FROM THE YANOMAMI'S! WITH THIS, WE CAN...MAKE REAL NICE GOURDS!
[Thunking, clattering]
Tommy breaks the top off the gourd.
Tommy continues, AND IF WE CAN FIND SOME MORINGA SEEDS, WE'LL BE ABLE TO FILTER WATER, THEN WE CAN GO AND BUILD A SHELTER AND...
[Whooshing, rustling, upbeat music notes play, birds chirping]
Audrey grabs the gourd and throws it into a bush.
Audrey says, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS IS TO NOT BE WORKING! WE CAN PLAY GAMES ALL DAY AND EVEN ALL NIGHT IF WE WANT!
Tommy says, UH... WELL, I'D LIKE TO PLAY, BUT... HOW ARE WE GONNA DRINK WATER? OR EAT? OR EVEN BATHE?
[Audrey’s footsteps rustling]
Audrey says, WE'RE GONNA DO JUST LIKE WE SAID! WE'RE GONNA LIVE LIKE THE ANIMALS!
[Chittering, thumping, upbeat music plays]
Audrey picks fruit off a tree and drops it to Tommy. He eats it and gives her a thumbs-up.
Tommy says, AH!
[Splashing, laughing, elephant trumpeting]
Audrey and Tommy splash water from a stream at each other. An elephant sprays them both.
Tommy says, HUH?
[Snoring, screaming, thudding]
Audrey clings to the bottom of a branch and naps. Tommy falls off his branch.
In Sonia’s home office, Hector, speaking into his cell phone, says, DON'T YOU WORRY ONE BIT! IT'S PERFECTLY SAFE! YES, TELL ESTEBAN THAT I'M KEEPING AN EYE ON THEM. YES, WILL DO. SEE YOU TOMORROW!
[Sonia laughing, upbeat music plays]
Sonia says, YOU HAVE JUST DOUBLED YOUR CHORES FOR THE NEXT THREE WEEKS.
Hector asks, HOW DO YA FIGURE?
Sonia says, AUDREY'S A SCRAPPER. DO YOU REALLY THINK SHE'LL CRACK, BECAUSE OF ONE NIGHT UNDER THE STARS?
Hector says, HUH? OH YEAH! SHE'LL RUN AROUND THE REFUGE FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS, AND THEN SHE'LL GET TIRED AND A BIT HUNGRY, AND COME TO UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF CHORES!
[Hector chuckling]
Sonia says, UH...
[Sonia chuckling awkwardly, dramatic music notes play]
Hector says, DO YOU THINK I SHOULD DO SOMETHING? I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!
[Running footsteps, door opening, closing, Sonia laughing]
[Birds chirping]
In the greenhouse, Audrey looks at bushes beside a path.
Audrey shouts, JACK! TOMMY! I KNOW THAT YOU'RE HERE!
[Chuckling]
Tommy rides on Jack’s shoulders, and they smile at each other.
Audrey says, FOUND YA!
[Tommy shouting, thudding, happy music plays]
Tommy grumbles, AW...
[Laughing]
Hector arrives carrying an ice cream cone.
Hector says, KARL? KARL?! OH! HEY THERE, KIDS! I DIDN'T SEE YOU THERE. I'M LOOKING FOR KARL. I JUST HAPPENED TO STUMBLE UPON SOME DELICIOUS ICE CREAM IN THE FREEZER, AND I WOULD HATE FOR HIM TO MISS OUT ON IT. EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT HOW GREAT IT IS!
[Tommy, Jack, and Audrey laughing]
Audrey says, OKAY, DAD! WHAT'S ACTUALLY GOING ON? SCARED OF YOUR IMMINENT DEFEAT?
Hector says, HUH? NOT AT ALL, NOT AT ALL! I WAS JUST TRYING TO BE NICE! BUT IF THAT'S HOW IT'S GONNA BE, I'LL JUST HEAD HOME! WHICH IS GOOD, 'CAUSE IT'S STARTING TO GET CHILLY. APPARENTLY, TONIGHT'S SUPPOSED TO BE FREEZING.
[Hector chuckling]
Hector says, BRR, BRR, BRR!
Audrey says, WELL, THEN IT'S PROBABLY NOT SMART TO BE EATING ICE CREAM!
[Audrey chuckling]
Tommy says, HE'S RIGHT, IT'S GONNA GET DARK SOON. BUT I KNOW OF A HADZA TECHNIQUE FOR BUILDING A SHELTER WITH BRANCHES—
Audrey says, NO, NO, AND NO! REMEMBER, WE'RE LIVING LIKE THE ANIMALS!
[Owl hooting, insects chirping, buzzing, gentle music plays, Tommy grunting, rustling, whooshing]
At night, stars shine around the crescent moon. In the greenhouse, Jack lies on the ground, with Tommy and Audrey curled under his arms. Tommy stands, waving his arms.
Tommy says, AH! GO FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO SLEEP, YA, STUPID MOSQUITO!
[Buzzing]
Audrey says, OW! SOMETHING JUST STUNG ME!
Tommy says, AH, SEE THAT?
[Tommy grumbling]
A mosquito lands on Jack’s nose, and Tommy lifts his hand.
Audrey says, NO! STOP!
[Smacking, Jack growling]
Tommy says, MISSED HIM!
[Jack growling]
Tommy says, UH... THERE WAS A MOSQUITO, JACK. BUT IT'S FINE NOW.
[Tommy chuckling nervously, insects chirping]
Tommy says, IF ONLY WE JUST HAD MOSQUITO NETS, LIKE IN THE CABIN.
Audrey says, UH, NO! IT'S GONNA TAKE MORE THAN A TINY MOSQUITO TO GET ME!
[Buzzing]
Audrey shouts, WHOA, WHOA!
[Shouting, owl hooting, footsteps thumping]
Mosquitoes chase Audrey and Tommy. Later, they arrive in the cabin. They poke their heads through the trap door, with bug bites swelling all over their faces and ears.
Tommy says, WE'RE KINDA CHEATING...
Audrey says, NO, WE'RE NOT, THERE'S ANIMALS IN THE GREENHOUSE; THIS IS THE SAME THING!
[Both gasping]
Hector stands in the darkness, smiling with his arms crossed.
Tommy says, OH...
[Cheerful music plays]
Hector says, HELLO, SWEETHEART. HELLO, TOMMY. SO, IS THAT IT? YOU'VE HAD ENOUGH?
Audrey says, UH... NOT AT ALL! WE JUST CAME IN TO SLEEP IN OUR, UH... ANIMAL DEN!
Hector says, WELL, IT'S REALLY QUITE CLEAN AND TIDY FOR AN ANIMAL DEN. OR YOU CAN JUST ADMIT THAT HOUSEHOLD CHORES ARE GOOD.
Audrey says, NO. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.
Hector says, THE DEAL, WAS THAT YOU LIVE... LIKE THE ANIMALS! AND I KNOW THEY DON'T SLEEP IN A NICE CABIN.
Audrey says, UH...
Hector says, ALRIGHT...YOU CAN SLEEP IN THE CABIN AND ADMIT DEFEAT. SOUND GOOD?
Tommy says, PERFECT! I'M…
Audrey says, NOT A CHANCE! YOU'RE JUST SAYING ALL THIS BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT YOU'RE GONNA LOSE! C'MON, TOMMY! WE'RE GONNA WIN THIS THING!
Tommy says, UH... ARE YOU REALLY SURE ABOUT-- AHH!
[Whooshing, Hector grumbling]
Audrey grabs Tommy’s arm and yanks him away from Hector.
[Footsteps rustling]
Outside, Tommy runs on a path beside Audrey. She stops walking.
Tommy says, HMM... OKAY, SO WE'LL BUILD A SHELTER?
(MIMIC BUZZER)
Audrey says, WE'LL DO THE SAME TECHNIQUE AS THE RHINOCEROS. COVER OURSELVES IN MUD SO THAT WE PREVENT MOSQUITO BITES!
[Mud bubbling, Tommy grunting, whooshing, cheerful music plays quietly]
Tommy says, HUH! NO WAY! WE DON'T HAVE ANY WAY TO CLEAN OURSELVES, WE DON'T HAVE A SHELTER, AND NOW YOU WANT TO ROLL AROUND IN THE MUD? MMM, MMM, MMM! THAT'S ENOUGH! I WANT TO BUILD A SHELTER.
Audrey says, BUT THAT'S GONNA TAKE US SO LONG! THE MUD WILL TAKE LIKE TWO SECONDS!
Tommy says, UGH! THE ONLY ANIMAL YOU SEEM TO BE WANNA BE IS LIKE A SLOTH! I'M GONNA GO BUILD A SHELTER.
[Footsteps rustling]
Tommy walks away from Audrey.
Audrey says, BUT IT'S GOOD FOR AVOIDING MOSQUITOS! AH! NO MORE CHORES! NO MORE CHORES!
[Splashing, Audrey laughing]
Audrey spreads out her arms and falls backwards into the mud.
[Birds chirping, tense music plays, Tommy groaning, branches clattering, stomach rumbling, groaning]
Night turns into day. In the greenhouse, a butterfly flutters across the jungle. Tommy crawls out of his stick shelter and stands with a walking stick. He picks up an empty gourd and tilts it.
[Sniffing, squealing, cracking, Audrey groaning, rustling]
A rhinoceros sniffs mud. Audrey’s fist breaks through the hardened mud. She crawls on the shore and stands.
Audrey groans, MUST EAT... MUST EAT...
[Tommy grunting, whooshing, Marcelo screeching]
Tommy waves the walking stick at a mango hanging from a tree. Marcelo appears on the branch and waves a fist at him.
Tommy says, OKAY, I GET IT. NOT THAT ONE. WOW!
[Harp chords play]
Tommy looks at purple berries on a bush.
[Laughing, clattering, rustling, munching]
Tommy throws his walking stick aside. Audrey jumps out of a nearby bush and lands in front of the berry bush.
Tommy says, HEY! I SAW THOSE FIRST! THE CODE OF THE PIRAHA SAYS WE'VE GOTTA SHARE WHAT WE FIND!
[Audrey growling, dramatic music plays, whooshing]
Audrey turns and looks at Tommy. She has bloodshot eyes, mud in her hair, and purple berry juice around her mouth. Tommy startles and throws his book away.
Tommy shouts, HUH?!
[Birds chirping]
Audrey says, WELL, THE LAW OF THE JUNGLE SAYS THAT I KEEP IT ALL FOR ME!
[Whooshing, Tommy grunting, munching, Audrey grumbling, both grunting]
Tommy grabs a berry branch from Audrey’s hand and eats the berries. They tug a branch between them.
Tommy says, HEY! YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT!
[Joyo growling]
Audrey and Tommy say, HMM?
[Joyo squealing, pounding steps, shouting, exciting music plays]
Joyo stares at Audrey and Tommy. He charges and chases them. Audrey jumps up onto a rock and stretches her hand towards Tommy.
Audrey says, HERE, TAKE MY HAND!
[Grunting, children panting, munching, birds chirping]
Tommy drops the branch, and Audrey pulls him onto the rock. Joyo eats the berries.
Tommy says, I CAN'T TAKE IT, AUDREY. IT'S WAY TO HARD TO TRY AND LIVE IN NATURE. I WANNA GO HOME!
[Whooshing, rustling]
Tommy leans back against the rocks.
Audrey says, I DO TOO... BUT I CAN'T LOSE! IF WE EAT INSIDE THE GREENHOUSE, THEN IT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE OUR FOOD COMES FROM, DOES IT?
Tommy says, AS LONG AS WE EAT SOMETHING SOON, I DON'T CARE WHERE IT'S FROM!
[Sonia yawning, Tommy shouting, pots clattering]
In the Wilde house, Sonia stretches and looks out the window. Tommy notices Sonia, and Audrey reaches out and yanks him into the kitchen. Sonia looks at her watch and smiles.
Audrey says, C'MON, TOMMY! HURRY UP!
[Tommy grunting, pots clunking]
Tommy puts a pot back on the counter.
Audrey says, UH... AHH! UH...
[Gasping]
Tommy says, AUDREY, YOUR MOM'S...OH!
[Both gasping, whooshing, munching]
Audrey and Tommy stare wide-eyed at breakfast on the table. A plate with a stack of pancakes, jam jars, a carton of orange juice, bread, croissants, and cupcakes cover the tabletop. They both eat.
Hector says, GOOD MORNING, KIDS! I SEE LIFE IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS HAS DONE WONDERS FOR YOUR APPETITE! THAT WAS REALLY CLOSE! I HAVE TO SAY, I'M DISAPPOINTED. IF YOU'D ONLY SHOWED UP TWO MINUTES EARLIER, I'D HAVE WON THE BET.
Audrey and Tommy say, HUH?!
Hector says, ELEVEN-OH-TWO AND 54 SECONDS! THAT IS INDEED A FULL DAY!
[Tommy grunting]
Audrey says, AH! WELL, IT WASN'T HARD! WE COULD'VE GONE ANOTHER DAY EASILY.
[Tommy whimpering, chuckling nervously]
Audrey says, A WHOLE WEEK, EVEN! BUT YOU KNOW, NO MORE CHORES FOR ME!
Hector says, YES! AND TO CELEBRATE, I EVEN GOT YOU A LITTLE GIFT!
[Rustling]
Hector pushes a gift bag across the table. Audrey reaches in and takes out mosquito repellant.
Audrey says, AH? MOSQUITO REPELLENT?
[Upbeat music plays, Sonia chuckling]
Hector says, WELL, SEEING YOU TWO SO HAPPY AND THRIVING IN NATURE, MADE US BOTH JEALOUS. SO, YOUR MOM AND I DECIDED THAT WE'D JOIN YOU. TONIGHT, WE'LL ALL SLEEP UNDER THE STARS! SURPRISE!
[Children whimpering]
Tommy says, WELL, I'D REALLY LOVE TO STAY, BUT MY PARENTS ARE PROBABLY WAITING FOR ME.
Hector says, DON'T YOU WORRY! I ALREADY CALLED THEM! THEY LOVED THE IDEA AND ARE FINE WITH YOU STAYING ANOTHER NIGHT.
[Tommy and Audrey whimpering]
Audrey says, WHAT?! NO! NO, WE CAN'T DO IT! I'LL DO WHATEVER YOU WANT! I'LL CLEAN MY ROOM AND NEVER COMPLAIN! I'LL DO ALL THE DISHES YOU WANT! I'LL DO ALL MY HOMEWORK! I'LL CLEAN THE WHOLE HOUSE! I PROMISE!
Audrey and Tommy plead, HAVE MERCY!
[Upbeat music plays]
