The tall iron gates in front of the Shelter are open. Tommy rides his bicycle down the path. He enters the greenhouse, carrying a camera.
Tommy says, OH, AUDREY! I'M HERE NOW! WE CAN GO! I'M SO EXCITED TO TAKE PHOTOS OF MARLO TODAY! HMM...
[Whooshing]
Tommy peers through his camera. Audrey drops down on a vine and hangs upside down in front of him.
Audrey says, HEY!
[Thumping]
Tommy falls.
Tommy says, WHOA, WHOA!
Audrey says, THERE'S NO TIME FOR PHOTOS, TOMMY! PAT'S ALREADY STARTED TRAINING MARLO FOR HIS MEDICAL CARE!
[Rustling]
Audrey pulls Tommy by his arm.
Tommy says, HEY! CAREFUL, YOU DON'T HAVE TO PULL ME!
[Gentle music plays, children panting]
On the plains, Pat picks up a carrot with a reach extender. She smiles up at Marlo, a giraffe.
Pat asks, ARE YOU READY TO BEGIN YOUR TRAINING NOW, MARLO? WE'RE GOING TO START WITH…
Audrey and Tommy arrive.
Pat shouts, AH!
Audrey says, PAT! WE'VE COME TO HELP!
[Camera shutter clicking]
Tommy takes photographs of Marlo, who backs away from him.
Pat says, AUDREY, TOMMY! CALM DOWN, YOU'LL SCARE HIM!
[Upbeat music plays]
Photographs show Pat trying to calm Marlo and glaring at the camera.
Tommy says, UH-OH...
Audrey says, UH...
[Birds chirping, Marlo grumbling]
Pat says, UH, LISTEN, KIDS. FIRST, WE HAVE TO TEACH MARLO NOT TO BE AFRAID OF HUMANS. THAT'S NOT GOING TO WORK IF YOU'RE ACTING LIKE A COUPLE OF RABID ZEBUS!
Audrey says, SORRY, PAT. WE JUST DIDN'T WANT TO BE LATE FOR THE TRAINING SESSION.
Pat says, AH, I GET IT, BUT YOU'VE GOT TO SLOW IT DOWN THERE, GUYS. THIS TRAINING DEMANDS A LOT OF PATIENCE. I'M NOT SO SURE THIS IS THE RIGHT THING FOR YOU.
[Marlo snorting, gentle music plays]
Pat walks to Marlo. The children slide between her and the giraffe, and Marlo backs away.
Audrey says, WHAT?! PAT! PRETTY PLEASE! WE'LL BE VERY PATIENT! PLEASE!
[Marlo grunting, children gasping]
Marlo walks away from Pat, Tommy, and Audrey.
Audrey says, SORRY... THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WE CAN DO TO CONVINCE YOU?
[Tommy giggling, pencil scribbling]
Pat says, YOU WANT TO CONVINCE ME? OKAY, YOU'RE GOING TO PROVE TO ME YOU CAN BE PATIENT BY COMPLETING A FEW MISSIONS.
Tommy says, THANKS, PAT. WE'RE GOING TO BECOME THE MOST PATIENT HUMANS THAT MARLO HAS EVER SEEN!
[Birds chirping]
In the jungle, Tommy holds a piece of paper. Audrey stands beside bird nest boxes.
Tommy says, ALRIGHT...WE'VE GOT THREE MISSIONS. CLEAN OUT THE BIRD'S NEST BOXES, REMOVE JACK'S LICE, AND THEN FINALLY... UGH, REPAIR MILO'S SHELTER.
[Tommy groaning, rustling]
Audrey reaches inside a bird nest box.
Audrey says, HUH?
[Sighing]
Audrey says, IT'S GONNA TAKE YEARS TO EMPTY OUT THESE BIRD BOXES.
Tommy says, NO! IT WON'T! WAIT HERE, DON'T MOVE!
Tommy runs and returns with a vacuum.
Tommy says, TA-DA! THANKS TO THIS, IT'LL TAKE US HALF THE TIME! CAN YOU JUST MAKE SURE THE BIRDS ARE OUT OF THEIR BOXES?
Audrey says, AH!
[Upbeat music plays, giggling, door slamming]
Audrey looks into the bird boxes.
Audrey says, WE'RE GOOD, TOMMY!
[Engine rumbling, rustling]
Audrey says, HUH? OH! HMM?
Audrey pulls the vacuum hose out of a bird box, and debris covers the end of the hose.
Audrey says, IT'S CLOGGED!
[Clicking, rumbling, startled shouting, Marcelo squeaking]
Audrey flips a switch on the vacuum. Feathers fly everywhere, and Marcelo, a golden lion tamarin, runs away.
Audrey says, UH... WELL AT LEAST THE BOXES ARE CLEAN NOW!
[Audrey giggling, Jack vocalizing]
Feathers and debris cover the clearing. Later, Audrey picks lice off Jack’s back.
Audrey says, ARGH... THERE'S GOT TO BE A FASTER WAY TO GET ALL THIS LICE OFF!
Tommy says, MAYBE IF WE USE THESE ADHESIVE TAPE ROLLERS?
[Jack vocalizing happily, rustling, thumping]
Tommy and Audrey roll the rollers over Jack’s back. Jack falls over, and a lice-covered roller hits Tommy’s sweater.
Tommy shouts, EEE! AHH, AHH!
[Tommy groaning, Audrey laughing, Tommy exclaiming]
Audrey says, COME ON, ONE MORE MISSION. I HOPE IT'LL BE AS MUCH FUN AS DELOUSING JACK!
[Tommy exclaiming]
Tommy says, AH, WELL I DON'T!
[Whooshing]
Tommy picks lice off his sweater.
Audrey says, HELLO, MILO!
[Milo squeaking]
Milo, a brown pika, looks up at Audrey and Tommy. Tommy looks at the paper.
Tommy says, THE NEXT STEP, WE HAVE TO GO AND GET STONES FROM THE BIG ROCK TO REBUILD THE PIKA'S DEN.
Audrey says, AW, THE BIG ROCK? BUT IT'S SO FAR, IT'S GONNA TAKE US HOURS! PLUS, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GO BACK AND FORTH WITH THE STONES! PAT WILL BE FINISHED TRAINING MARLO BY THAT TIME!
[Milo squeaking]
Tommy says, MAYBE... WE COULD BUILD HIM A WHOLE NEW DEN! THERE ARE LOTS OF STONES BESIDE THE WATER!
Audrey says, YOU ARE A GENIUS, TOMMY! THAT'LL BE SO MUCH FASTER! COME ON, MILO! YOU'RE MOVING TO THE BEACH!
[Milo squeaking, rustling]
Audrey puts a rock on top of a rocky den.
Tommy says, AH... THERE WE GO, PERFECT! GO ON, MILO! THIS IS YOUR NEW HOME!
[Milo chirping softly, rustling]
Tommy picks Milo up and carries
Tommy says, COME HERE. IN YOU GO!
[Milo squeaking]
Milo runs away.
Tommy says, MILO, COME BACK! ARGH...
[Milo squeaking]
Tommy catches Milo and puts them into the den.
Tommy says, LITTLE RASCAL! GO ON!
Audrey says, COME ON, LET'S GO TELL PAT WE FINISHED OUR MISSIONS! SHE'S GONNA LET US HELP TRAIN MARLO, FOR SURE!
[Fists bumping, giggling]
Audrey and Tommy fist bump.
Later, Pat peers into a bird box.
Pat says, HMM... THE BIRD BOXES ARE CLEAN...
[Children laughing, light music plays]
Pat says, ON THE OTHER HAND, I CAN'T SAY THE SAME ABOUT THE REST OF THE CLEARING. DO IT AGAIN!
Tommy and Audrey say, AW...
In a clearing, Jack scratches his back.
Pat says, AN ADHESIVE ROLLER? REALLY?
[Jack vocalizing]
Pat says, AND YOU DIDN'T GET ALL THE LICE. DO IT AGAIN!
Tommy and Audrey say, AW...
[Footsteps rustling, birds chirping]
In the jungle, Pat, Tommy, and Audrey walk on a path.
Pat says, I'M SORRY, KIDS, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE YOU DID A SLOPPY JOB ON EVERYTHING I ASKED.
Audrey says, WE WEREN'T SLOPPY! WE TOOK THE TIME WE NEEDED TO DO IT, THAT'S ALL.
Tommy says, YES! WAIT 'TIL YOU SEE MILO'S DEN, PAT. WE BUILT HIM A WHOLE NEW ONE!
Pat says, HMM?
[Dramatic music plays]
The rocks from Milo’s den are scattered on the grass.
Audrey says, OH! WHAT HAPPENED HERE? HIS DEN WAS JUST PERFECT WHEN WE LEFT IT!
Pat says, YOU MEAN AS PERFECT AS THOSE OTHER JOBS YOU DID?
Tommy says, GIVE US A SECOND CHANCE, PLEASE, PAT? WE'LL WORK REALLY HARD AND REDO EVERYTHING, WE SWEAR!
[Upbeat music plays]
Pat says, I KNOW YOU'RE CAPABLE OF DOING THIS, KIDS. BUT YOU NEED TO HAVE PATIENCE TO DO A GOOD JOB! IF NOT, I'M SORRY, BUT I'M NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO LET YOU TRAIN MARLO.
Audrey and Tommy say, ALRIGHT...
[Footsteps rustling]
Pat walks away.
Audrey says, UGH, I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE, TOMMY! ALL WE WANT IS TO SPEND SOME TIME WITH MARLO, AND IT LOOKS LIKE PAT IS DOING EVERYTHING TO STOP US!
Tommy says, SAY CHEESE!
[Camera shutter snapping]
Audrey says, HMM?
[Tommy laughing, birds chirping]
In the photograph, Audrey stands with her eyebrows furrowed, her fists clenched, and her mouth downturned.
Tommy says, WOW, YOU GAVE ME SUCH A PRETTY SMILE! COME ON, THE QUICKER WE START, THE QUICKER WE GET TO SEE MARLO!
[Tommy laughing, Milo squeaking, upbeat music plays, Milo squeaking]
Tommy puts his camera on a rock.
Audrey says, THERE YOU GO, MILO! THIS TIME IT'S SOLID!
[Rock clunking]
Tommy puts a rock on top of Milo’s new den.
Tommy says, THERE'S NO WAY IT'LL COLLAPSE! ENJOY YOUR NEW LITTLE HOUSE! LET'S GO BACK AND TAKE CARE OF JACK AND THE BIRD BOXES.
[Thumping]
Audrey and Tommy fist bump.
Audrey says, AH-HA! OH, YEAH!
[Laughing, footsteps pattering]
Tommy and Audrey run into the jungle, leaving the camera on the rock.
[Chittering, bright music plays]
Tommy stops running]
Tommy says, OH! I FORGOT MY CAMERA!
[Audrey sighing]
Audrey says, TOMMY...
[Tommy chuckling nervously, footsteps rustling]
Audrey says, WHAT?!
[Gasping]
Audrey and Tommy return to the den, where rocks are scattered on the ground.
Audrey says, AGAIN?! OH, WE'RE NEVER GOING TO GET TO TRAIN MARLO.
Tommy says, AT LEAST MILO DIDN'T GET HURT.
[Water splashing, Milo squeaking]
Audrey says, SORRY, MILO. BUT WHAT ON EARTH HAPPENED?
[Rustling]
Pat walks in the jungle.
Audrey says, HMM? PAT? WHAT'S SHE DOING HERE?
Tommy says, I DON'T KNOW. IS SHE STOCKING UP ON TREATS FOR MARLO?
[Rustling]
Audrey looks at the scattered rocks and rearranges them.
Audrey says, HMM, POSSIBLY... BUT IT'S WEIRD THAT THE DEN COLLAPSED ALL BY ITSELF AND THAT PAT WAS HERE WHEN SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE WITH MARLO.
Tommy says, WAIT... YOU THINK THAT PAT DESTROYED THE DEN?
[Milo squeaking]
Tommy says, THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! OH, MILO...
Audrey says, YES, IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE, BUT PAT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE SHE WANTED OUR HELP WITH MARLO. WHAT IF SHE CAME UP WITH ALL THESE MISSIONS FOR US TO KEEP US OCCUPIED, SO THAT WE WOULDN'T BOTHER HER DURING TRAINING?
[Rustling, upbeat music plays]
Audrey moves a rock.
Tommy says, YEAH, MAYBE THAT'S WHY SHE'S MAKING US DO EVERYTHING OVER AGAIN. THAT WOULD TAKE US A LOT OF TIME. BUT WE CAN'T JUST ACCUSE HER, YOU KNOW.
[Rock clattering]
Audrey says, YES, I KNOW... BUT IT'S THE ONLY EXPLANATION. AND WE'RE GONNA PROVE IT!
[Water splashing, upbeat music plays]
Milo’s new den is finished, and Tommy hides behind a bush nearby, holding his camera.
Tommy speaks into his walkie-talkie and says, PAT! DO YOU READ ME? THIS IS TOMMY. WE'VE FINISHED REPAIRING MILO'S DEN! WE'RE READY FOR INSPECTION. OVER.
Audrey speaks into the walkie-talkie and says, AND WE'RE SO EXCITED TO HELP WITH MARLO!
[Static crackling]
Audrey whispers, THAT'S JUST TO MAKE HER COME FASTER!
[Static crackling]
Pat, via walkie-talkie, says, I'LL BE RIGHT THERE. OVER.
[Static crackling]
Audrey says, PERFECT! OKAY, NOW ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS HIDE AND WAIT!
[Bush rustling]
Tommy says, IF SHE DESTROYS THE DEN AGAIN, I'LL CATCH HER IN THE ACT!
[Suspenseful music plays, leaves rustling]
Audrey whispers, HMM? OH, IT'S PAT!
[Shushing]
Pat says, AUDREY? TOMMY? OH, WHERE HAVE THEY GONE TO NOW? OH, WOW! THEY DID A NICE JOB THIS TIME!
Audrey whispers, READY, TOMMY? LET'S GO...RIGHT NOW!
[Leaves rustling]
Audrey jumps out of the bush. Tommy stands and holds up his camera.
Audrey shouts, YAH! CAUGHT YA! HMM? WHAT? HUH? WHERE IS SHE?
Tommy says, I DON'T GET IT. IF IT WASN'T HER...
[Croaking, footsteps rustling]
Tommy continues, THEN WHO DESTROYED MILO'S DEN BEFORE?
[Milo squeaking]
Audrey says, I DUNNO, MAYBE IT WAS MILO? I GUESS HE DOESN'T LIKE HIS NEW HOUSE.
[Croaking, splashing, panicked squeaking, exciting music plays]
Alto, an Argentinian horned frog, swims to the shore. He gets between the den and Milo and then chases the pika away.
Audrey says, ALTO! STOP!
[Rocks clattering]
Alto knocks over the den.
Tommy says, ALTO! SO, YOU'RE THE ONE WHO DESTROYED MILO'S DEN!
Audrey says, WHAT'S GOTTEN INTO YOU? YOU'RE NOT USUALLY THIS AGGRESSIVE!
[Angry croaking, birds chirping]
Tommy says, HMM?
Audrey says, OH NO! LOOK WHERE WE BUILT THE DEN, TOMMY. JUST BESIDE THE POND!
Tommy asks, YEAH, SO?
Audrey says, WELL...SHE'S IN THE MIDDLE OF ALTO'S TERRITORY!
[Tommy gasping, gentle music plays]
Tommy says, AND THE ARGENTINIAN HORNED FROGS REALLY DON'T LIKE ANY OTHER ANIMAL LIVING ON THEIR TERRITORY!
Audrey says, WE WERE IN SUCH A RUSH THAT I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE! I NEVER SHOULD HAVE BLAMED PAT. WE DID SLOPPY WORK 'CAUSE WE WERE IN A RUSH. WE'VE GOT TO CATCH UP AND DO IT RIGHT! EVEN IF IT TAKES US THE WHOLE DAY!
Tommy says, MM-HMM!
[Birds chirping, bright music plays, giggling, Milo squeaking, birds chirping, Audrey giggling, Tommy grunting]
In the jungle, Audrey and Tommy build a new den for Milo. Milo scurries inside. At the clearing, Audrey cleans the bird boxes while Tommy picks up feathers and debris from the ground. Later, they pick lice off Jack’s back. On the plains, Audrey and Tommy sit cross-legged and watch Marlo eat carrots.
Pat says, YEAH, THE INSPECTION'S OVER. I MUST ADMIT, YOU DID A PERFECT JOB ON EVERY SINGLE MISSION, KIDS!
[Children giggling, upbeat music plays]
Pat says, YOU UNDERSTOOD THE IMPORTANCE OF PATIENCE, AND USED IT. SO, AS PROMISED...
Audrey says, WE CAN HELP YOU TRAIN MARLO!
Audrey and Tommy cheer, YAY! WOO-HOO!
[Marlo grunting nervously]
Tommy says, OH!
[Thumping]
Tommy covers his mouth.
Audrey whispers, WE CAN HELP YOU TRAIN MARLO.
[Birds chirping, whooshing]
Pat says, TO START WITH, WE NEED HIM TO GET USED TO KNEELING ON THE PLATFORM. THIS'LL MAKE IT A LOT EASIER FOR ME TO CLEAN THOSE HOOVES OF HIS.
[Whooshing]
Pat gives Audrey a metal rod with a tennis ball on the end.
Pat says, AUDREY...YOU GUIDE HIM USING THIS.
[Whooshing]
Pat gives Tommy the reach extender.
Pat says, AND TOMMY...YOU HOLD HIS TREAT UP HIGH.
[Children giggling, Marlo grunting, upbeat music continues]
Audrey uses her rod to lead Marlo.
Pat says, THERE, THAT'S PERFECT!
[Marlo grunting]
Marlo walks forward and puts his leg on a tree stump, bent so the hoof is in the air.
Tommy says, WOW!
[Tommy laughing, crunching]
Marlo eats the carrot.
Audrey says, WELL DONE, MARLO!
Pat says, AND NOW...WOULD YOU TWO LIKE TO GIVE HIM HIS BOTTLE?
[Children gasping, laughing, slurping]
Pat holds a bottle and blanket. Tommy holds the bottle wrapped in the blanket.
Audrey says, OH, THAT'S THE MOST ADORABLE THING I'VE EVER SEEN!
Pat says, MAKE SURE AND KEEP THE BOTTLE UNDER THE BLANKET. MARLO HAS TO LOOK FOR THE PACIFIER, AS IF IT WAS HIS MOTHER'S MILK.
[Creaking]
Marlo pulls on the bottle.
Tommy says, HUH? HEY, NO, DON'T, MARLO, YOU DON'T BITE IT!
[Tommy shouting, splashing, Pat grunting]
Tommy pulls the bottle away from Milo, and milk splashes on Pat’s face.
Audrey says, SHH. STAY CALM, PAT! YOU DON'T WANNA SCARE HIM!
[Laughing]
Tommy says, IT'S ALL OVER YOU!
[Upbeat music plays]
