Text reads, “TVOkids” and “Riverbank Pictures” “Original.”

[Child giggles]

Text reads, “TVO Presents.”

[Happy music plays]

Mandisa wears her long black hair pulled away from her face. She smiles as she holds up a cardboard robot and a rabbit craft made of two paper cups. Colourful text above her reads, “Curious Crafting.”

[Boing]

[Upbeat music plays]

Mandisa sits at a round table in a shadowy craft room with small lamps glowing behind her. She holds a flashlight under her chin and lights up her face. A girl with her black hair in two small buns sits to Mandisa’s left. The girl wears a white long-sleeved shirt with stars. A boy wears his black hair in small braids and a long-sleeved blue and black plaid shirt.

Mandisa says, IT WAS A DARK
AND STORMY NIGHT AND THREE
LITTLE CRAFTERS WANTED TO
MAKE JACK O'LANTERNS BUT
THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY PUMPKINS,
SO THEY USED MASON JARS.

[Spooky laugh in background]

Mandisa holds her flashlight beneath an orange mason jar with black eyes, a nose, and mouth.

She asks, SHALL WE CRAFT SOME
JACK O'LANTERN MASON JARS?

The two children say, YEAH.

Mandisa says, OKAY, LET'S GET GOING.

[Joyful pop music plays]

Mandisa and the children gather their craft supplies and put them on a rectangular table. The supplies appear on the table as Mandisa lists them.

Mandisa says, YOU'LL NEED BLACK
FOAM SHEETS, GLASS JARS, BOWLS,
FOAM BRUSHES AND SEALER GLUE,
TEALIGHT CANDLES, SCISSORS,
AND ORANGE TISSUE PAPER.

[Scratching, joyful pop music continues]

Mandisa and the two children sit at the white table. The boy and girl each have a clear mason jar in front of them. Mandisa has her hand on the orange mason jar in front of her.

Mandisa says, OKAY, HOW DO YOU
THINK WE CAN TURN OUR CLEAR
MASON JARS INTO ORANGE PUMPKINS?

The girl says, GRAB PIECES OF THAT
STUFF, THAT ORANGE STUFF,
AND THEN GLUE IT ONTO HERE.

The boy says, TISSUE PAPER.

Mandisa says, THAT'S RIGHT.
AND WE'RE GONNA
USE SOME SCISSORS.

The girl sings, TO CUT THEM INTO PIECES.

Mandisa repeats, TO CUT
THEM INTO PIECES.

The girl says, I KNOW HOW TO USE SCISSORS.

Mandisa says, YOU DO? AWESOME.
WE'RE GONNA CUT OUR TISSUE
PAPER INTO SMALL SQUARES.

SO GO AHEAD, YOU
CAN START CUTTING.

[Joyful pop music continues]

The children use safety scissors to cut the orange tissue paper into small squares.

Mandisa asks, IS IT EASIER THAN
CUTTING PAPER?

- YES.

Mandisa says, OKAY, THE NEXT
STEP IS THE GLUE.

I HAVE SOME SPECIAL GLUE
HERE THAT YOU CAN USE
TO COAT YOUR MASON JAR.

DIP YOUR BRUSH INTO THE GLUE
AND PUT ON A NICE THIN COAT
ONTO YOUR MASON JAR. ALL
WAY DOWN HERE.

The boy and girl paint glue onto the outside of the mason jars.

Mandisa says, YEAH, GOOD,
LOTS OF GLUE.

AND THEN ONCE YOU
HAVE YOUR GLUE ON,
YOU'RE GONNA STICK YOUR
TISSUE PAPER ONTO THE GLUE.

SO I SAY WE DO ONE SIDE,
AND THEN WE'LL PUT THE
TISSUE PAPER ON AND THEN
WE'LL DO THE NEXT SIDE.
SO GO AHEAD.

[Joyful music continues]

The children press orange squares of tissue paper onto the glue.

The girl says, I'M DOWN THE HOLE.

Mandisa says, THAT'S OKAY,
YOU CAN JUST PUT MORE
TISSUE PAPER ON THAT ONE.

Animated scissors cut a line across animated paper.

[Joyful pop music continues, scissor snipping]

Mandisa says, OKAY, THE NEXT
STEP, WE'RE GONNA PUT A
SECOND COAT OF GLUE ON TOP
OF THE TISSUE PAPER TO SEAL
IT IN. SO GO AHEAD.

WE DON'T WANNA PUT TOO MUCH,
JUST A NICE LIGHT LAYER OF GLUE
ON TOP OF YOUR TISSUE PAPER
TO SEAL IT IN.

The children spread glue over the tissue paper.

[Joyful pop music continues]

Mandisa asks, OLIVIA, WHAT KIND
OF FACE ARE YOU GONNA PUT
ON YOUR JACK O'LANTERN?

Olivia, the girl, says, A SCARY FACE.

Mandisa says, SCARY FACE.

The boy says, A MONSTER FACE.

Mandisa says, WELL IT'S A GOOD
THING I HAVE LOTS OF SCARY
MONSTER FACES HERE.

Mandisa spreads black foam pieces on the centre of the table.

Mandisa says, I CUT OUT SOME
FACES FROM BLACK FOAM,
SO WHAT YOU CAN DO IS
YOU CAN PEEL THE BACK OFF
AND STICK IT ONTO THE
FRONT OF YOUR PUMPKIN.

The children attach foam pieces to the tissue paper on the mason jars.

[Joyful music continues]

Mandisa says, WANNA CHOOSE
SOME EYES AND A NOSE?

Mandisa smiles. She watches the children put faces on their pumpkins.

Mandisa says, GOOD JOB.

OH, THAT LOOKS LIKE A SUPER
SCARY PUMPKIN, OLIVIA.

WE'RE ALL DONE OUR PUMPKINS.
SHALL WE SHOW THEM
TO EACH OTHER?

The boy turns his mason jar and says, BOO!

Olivia turns her jar and shouts, BOO!

Mandisa says, BUT WE NEED
ONE MORE THING TO LIGHT THEM
UP, WHAT DO YOU THINK WE
COULD USE?

Olivia says, A LIGHT.

Mandisa says, THAT'S RIGHT, I HAVE
THESE LITTLE CANDLE TEALIGHTS
HERE THAT WE CAN USE.

HERE'S ONE FOR YOU, JACOB,
THERE'S ONE FOR YOU.

AND SEE IF YOU CAN TURN THEM ON
WITH THE SWITCH AT THE BOTTOM.

(JOYFUL POP MUSIC)

Mandisa says, OKAY, LET'S PUT
THEM INTO OUR JARS.

Jacob, Mandisa and Olivia each put a tealight candle into their mason jars.

Mandisa says, OOH.

DO THEY LOOK LIKE REAL
JACK O'LANTERNS TO YOU?

Olivia says, SORT OF.

Mandisa says, DO YOU KNOW
WHAT WOULD HELP?

[Everyone claps]

Overhead lights turn off and small lamps glow behind Mandisa. She, Jacob and Olivia pick up their jars and move in them slowly in the air.

Everyone says, OOOOOH.

Olivia says, TRICK OR TREAT.

Mandisa says, I WANT CANDY.
