Two animated brains move over a line maze. Two chomping halves of an animated pink brain join together. Text on banners over the brain reads, “Hungry Brain!”

[Upbeat music plays]

A voice says, HUNGRY BRAIN!

[Upbeat music plays]

A photograph features a cable car rolling down a hill towards San Francisco Bay. Text reads, “S.F.” Photographs show people walking on a sandy path, a prospector holding gold nuggets, a long-haired man wearing a tie-dyed shirt, a man holding a megaphone, and a road sign pointing to “Silicon Valley.”

A narrator says, BETTER KNOWN AS S.F., OR THE CITY BY THE BAY, SAN FRANCISCO HAS ATTRACTED GENERATIONS OF ADVENTURERS, GOLD PROSPECTORS, HIPPIES, CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVISTS, AND SILICON VALLEY GEEKS.

[Slide whistle]

A yellow line shows the San Andreas Fault Line.

A second narrator says, NO GREAT SHAKES THAT IT'S BUILT ON THE SAN ANDREAS FAULT, THOUGH.

[Snoring]

A line on a seismograph moves up and down.

The narrator says, AH, EARTHQUAKE!

The second narrator says, HUH? SORRY, DOZED OFF THERE FOR A SEC.

[Snoring]

A photograph shows a man sleeping.

Title: Top on San Francisco.

[Creaking, dinging]

In an animation, the number four inflates.

The second narrator says, NUMBER FOUR, A TOLERANT CITY.

[Beeping, whooshing]

On a world map, lines pulse around San Francisco. Text reads, “1776.”

The narrator says, LOCATED IN CALIFORNIA, SAN FRANCISCO WAS FOUNDED BY THE SPANISH IN 1776. AFTER SWITCHING TO MEXICAN RULE IN 1821, IT WAS CONQUERED BY THE UNITED STATES IN 1846. ITS GOLDEN AGE WAS DURING THE 1848 GOLD RUSH.

Text over a photograph of houses reads, “1846.” A second photograph shows a man panning for gold. Other photographs show rows of Victorian houses, the Golden Gate Bridge at twilight, and two women holding a rainbow flag.

The second narrator says, TODAY, SAN FRANCISCO IS KNOWN FOR ITS VICTORIAN HOUSES AND SUSPENSION BRIDGE, BUT ALSO FOR ITS TOLERANCE TOWARDS L.G.B.T. PEOPLE, AND FOR ITS ACTIVISM TO EMPOWER MINORITIES, AND DEVELOPMENT OF CIVIL RIGHTS. RIGHT ON!

[Creaking, dinging]

In an animation, the number three inflates.

The second narrator says, NUMBER THREE, ALCATRAZ PRISON.

[Whooshing, upbeat music continues]

A photograph shows Alcatraz isolated on a small island. A photograph shows a cell block with beds and tables in the cells.

The narrator says, PERCHED ON AN ISLAND 1.92 KILOMETRES OFF SAN FRANCISCO BAY, ALCATRAZ IS ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS PRISONS IN THE WORLD. IT'S NOT EASY TO BUST LOOSE. WE CAN ONLY CLOCK UP ONE ESCAPE FROM THIS LOCKUP.

[Whooshing]

A photograph shows a grate pulled off a wall and the hole behind it. Text over a video of Alcatraz reads, “March 1963.”

The second narrator says, ALCATRAZ HASN'T BEEN A FEDERAL PRISON SINCE MARCH 1963. NOW IT'S SAN FRANCISCO'S PRINCIPAL TOURIST ATTRACTION, AND "CELLS" ABOUT 5,000 VISITOR TICKETS EACH DAY.

[Creaking, dinging]

In an animation, the number two inflates.

The second narrator says, NUMBER TWO, WINDING STREETS.

An aerial photograph shows twisting Lombard Street.

The narrator says, WITH ITS EIGHT HAIRPIN TURNS LINED WITH ROSE BUSHES AND COLOURFUL FLOWERS, LOMBARD STREET IS SOMETIMES CALLED "THE CROOKEDEST STREET IN THE WORLD." IT WAS CREATED IN THE 1920’S TO OFFER A SPECTACULAR PANORAMA TO THE ALREADY WEALTHY DISTRICT OF RUSSIAN HILL.

A car slowly drives down the winding street.

The narrator says, PHEW! YOU CERTAINLY WOULDN'T WANT TO "RUSSIAN" ANYWHERE, THAT'S FOR SURE!

[Creaking, dinging]

In an animation, the number one inflates.

The narrator says, NUMBER ONE, SEALS OF THE MARINA.

A photograph shows dozens of seals napping on floating docks.

The second narrator says, HORDES OF SEALS ARRIVED ON K QUAY IN THE MARINA OF FISHERMAN'S WHARF IN 1990, A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE OF OCTOBER '89.

[Whooshing]

A sign reads, “Fisherman’s Wharf of San Francisco.” Photographs show the seals sniffing each other and sleeping.

The narrator says, ACCORDING TO RESEARCHERS, THE SEALS TOOK REFUGE IN THE CALM WATERS OF THE MARINA. THEY MAY BE LOUD AND SMELLY, BUT THEIR FATE WAS "SEALED" TO BECOME NOTABLE SAN FRANCISCO SEA-LEBRITIES.

In a video, a few seals look around a rocking dock as dozens of seals lie sleeping.

The second narrator says, OKAY, WHO FARTED?

The narrator says, MY LIPS ARE "SEALED."

The second narrator says, UH, IT STINKS.

The narrator says, STOP FLIPPING OUT!

The second narrator says, ACTUALLY, IT WAS ME.
