An animated map shows the location of Jamaica.
[Beeping, upbeat music plays]
Micah says, JAMAICA'S IN THE CARIBBEAN SEA. SOUTH OF CUBA.
The Jamaican flag flutters beside Micah. It features a yellow ‘X’, dividing it into four triangles. The top and bottom triangles are green, and the two side triangles are black. Text reads, “Black,” “Yellow,” “Green.”
Micah says, THIS IS MY JAMAICAN FLAG. THE COLORS OF THE JAMAICAN FLAG ARE BLACK, YELLOW AND GREEN. GREEN REPRESENTS THE EARTH. YELLOW REPRESENTS THE SUN. AND BLACK REPRESENTS THE PEOPLE.
Snow lines the side of a path to the door of a greenhouse. Micah and his grandfather wear winter coats. They open the door of the greenhouse and enter.
Micah narrates, TODAY WE ARE AT THE AMADU HORTICULTURE. HORTICULTURISTS ARE PEOPLE WHO TAKE CARE OF PLANTS JUST LIKE THE SUN IS FOR PLANTS. MY GRANDFATHER IS LIKE SUNSHINE IN MY LIFE. THIS IS ACTUALLY JAMAICA'S NATIONAL FRUIT. THIS IS AN ACKEE TREE.
Pink text beneath a small tree reads, “Ackee Tree.”
Micah asks, HEY, GRANDPA, WHAT'S THIS PLANT?
Dark blue text reads, “Jamaican Callaloo.”
Micah’s grandfather says, THAT'S A CALLALOO PLANT. IT'S A VEGETABLE EATEN BY MOST JAMAICANS. AND IT'S OUR FAVORITE VEGETABLE.
Micah says, OKAY, THAT'S COOL. LET'S BRING SOME HOME TO MAKE A CALLALOO DISH.
Later, Micah and his mother stand by a kitchen counter. Text by bowls of ingredients read, “Pepper” “Onions” “Garlic” “Salt fish” “Callaloo.”
[Upbeat music plays]
Micah says, TO MAKE JAMAICAN CALLALOO, WE'LL NEED...PEPPER, ONIONS, GARLIC, SALT FISH, CALLALOO.
Micah stands by a sizzling frying pan.
[Clink, sizzling]
Micah says, FIRST, WE'LL PUT A SPRINKLE OF THYME. WE WILL PUT IN THE ONIONS. JAMAICAN CALLALOO IS USUALLY PREPARED WITH RICE AND PEAS. BUT TODAY WE'RE GOING TO DO IT WITH SALT FISH. THAT’S ENOUGH?
Micah’s grandfather stirs the fish in the pan. The animated sun sniffs the air and licks its lips.
[Sizzling, slide whistle, sniffing]
Micah says, OH, THAT LOOKS REALLY GOOD.
Later, Micah’s family sits at a table with plates. His father puts Callaloo on his plate.
[Clinking utensils]
His mother says, MMM, THANKS FOR MAKING SUPPER, MICAH.
Micah says, YOU'RE WELCOME. IT'S A DELICIOUS IF I DO SAY SO MYSELF.
His mother says, MM HMM.
Later, Micah drums. Three teenagers drum beside him. Micah’s brother crouches beside a drum and watches.
[Drumming]
Micah says, FOR THE PAST YEAR, I HAVE BEEN TAKING DRUMMING CLASSES WITH THESE GUYS FROM THE WEST-CAN GROUP.
Blue text reads, “West-Can Group.”
Micah says, IT'S FUN BECAUSE I GET TO LEARN AFRO-CARIBBEAN DRUM RHYTHMS. I LOVE DRUMMING BECAUSE THE
SOUND MAKES ME CONNECT TO MY HERITAGE IN SO MANY WAYS. FROM THE DRUMS, I'VE LEARNED THAT MY CULTURE HAS BEEN PASSED ON TO MY GENERATION. I HOPE I CAN CONTINUE TO DO THE SAME FOR THE NEXT GENERATION.
Later, Micah sits in front of bookcases.
[Upbeat music plays]
Micah says, THE LIVING ROOM IS MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE HOUSE BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE I GET TO LEARN AND DO ALL MY FAVORITE THINGS. THAT'S MY LIBRARY. THAT'S WHERE I HAVE ALL MY FAVORITE BOOKS. I EVEN MADE A COMIC BOOK.

Micah gestures towards a table.
Micah says, HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE ROCKS. THIS ONE IS PINK QUARTZ THAT I GOT FROM MY FATHER. MY AUNT BROUGHT THIS ONE BACK FROM THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED THROUGH A MICROSCOPE AT A TISSUE? I SEE THE FIBERS IN THE HOLES. I HAVE MANY PASSIONS, BUT ONE OF MY FAVORITES ARE ROBOTICS.
Later, Micah stands in a classroom. Young teenagers sit around a table with laptop computers open in front of them.
[Upbeat music plays]

[Upbeat music continues, background chatter]
Micah narrates, I GOT INTERESTED IN ROBOTICS WHEN I WAS SEVEN YEARS OLD. MY PARENTS GOT ME INTO ROBOTICS SUMMER CAMP WHERE I LEARNED HOW TO BUILD AND PROGRAM ROBOTS. WE WON A GOLD MEDAL FOR THIS
BECAUSE OF THE PROGRAM WE USED AND THE CLAMP WE USED. IT MOVES FORWARDS, WE USED AND THE CLAMP WE USED. IT MOVES FORWARDS, SLAMS ON THE DICE, AND IT'S SUPPOSED TO BRING IT OVER TO A PLATFORM, PLACE IT OPEN, BACK UP AND SMILEY FACE.
[Whirring]
Later, Micah and two teenagers stand around a small table with clay on top. A girl has long, curly brown hair. A boy has short brown hair.
Micah says, MY TEACHER INTRODUCED ME TO CLAYMATION AND EVER SINCE I'VE BEEN MAKING IT WITH MY FRIENDS, DIOR AND PRINCE.
Green text beneath the girl reads, “Dior.” Blue text beneath the boy reads, “Prince.” Purple text reads, “Claymation.”
[Laughter]
Micah says, TODAY WILL BE USING CLAY TO ANIMATE THE CHARACTERS. SO CLAYMATION IS A SPECIAL TYPE OF STOP MOTION, AND IT'S NORMALLY USED TO SHOW LOTS OF EMOTION. THE GLOB LOOKS SO DEADLY AND THIS IS THE BEAUTIFUL CAT THAT EATS THE GLOB.
[Laughter]
Later, Micah, Prince and Dior kneel behind a coffee table. Folded origami cranes rest on the table in front of them.
Micah says, ANOTHER ONE OF MY PASSIONS IS ORIGAMI. ORIGAMI IS THE JAPANESE WAY OF FOLDING PAPER.
[Paper rustles]
Micah says, OKAY, SO THE FIRST FOLD WILL BE FOLDING IT INTO A TRIANGLE.
Prince asks, WHEN DID YOU LEARN ORIGAMI?
Micah says, IT ALL STARTED WHEN I WAS EIGHT, WHEN I LEARNED HOW TO FOLD A PAPER AIRPLANE.
[Rustling, popping]
Micah says, JUST LAST YEAR, I FOUND A BOOK AND IT HAD MULTIPLE DIFFERENT COMPLEX ORIGAMI. I LOVE DOING ACTIVITIES WHERE I CAN DEBATE IF PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS AND CONCENTRATE. THESE QUALITIES WILL ALLOW ME TO BE A SUCCESSFUL LAWYER.
An animated gavel slams down.
[Slide whistle, bang]
In animation, a blue gift box wiggles. The gift opens, and the animated sun rises and blows into a party horn. Yellow text reads, “Sunny’s Surprise!”
[Upbeat music plays, party horn toots]
Micah’s mother says, YOUR FATHER AND I ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU. SO ARE YOUR GRANDPARENTS. AND THAT TO ENCOURAGE YOU, WE HAVE A SPECIAL MESSAGE.
A man with short black hair and a beard appears on a screen. The man wears headphones and a black shirt.
The man says, HI, MICAH. I'M SO HAPPY TO MEET YOU. MY NAME IS MICHEL NUNGISA, AND I'M A LEAD COUNSEL.
Text reads, “Michel Nungisa. Lead Counsel.”
[Beeping, upbeat music continues]
Michel asks, SO WHAT IS IT TO BE A PROFESSIONAL LAWYER? IT'S KIND OF LIKE BEING SOMEONE WHO HELPS OTHERS SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS. HOW DID I GET HERE? LONG HOURS IN AND STUDYING.MAKE SURE THAT YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND THE TYPE OF CHARACTER AND VALUES THAT YOU WANT TO CARRY WITH YOU. AND THAT, MY FRIEND, WILL MAKE YOU A GREAT LAWYER.
Micah says, AMAZING.
