WE'LL MAKE...
Pradnesh says, A GROUND BEEF CHILI!
In the Five Ingredient Kitchen, Maksim wears a black and red plaid, long-sleeved shirt. Pradnesh wears a dark green sweater. Text reads, 5 Ingredient Challenge with Maksim and Pradnesh, Ground Beef Chili.
Maksim says, FOR TODAY'S RECIPE,
YOU'LL NEED...
Pradnesh says, THREE POUNDS OR 1.4 KG
OF GROUND BEEF...
Maksim says, THREE CANS OF TOMATO SOUP...
Pradnesh says, TWO CANS OR 900 ML
OF RED KIDNEY BEANS...
Maksim says, TWO PACKETS OF CHILI
SEASONING...
Pradnesh adds, TWO CUPS AND ONE THIRD
OR 570 ML OF WATER.
Maksim says, AND WE ARE READY FOR
THE FIVE INGREDIENT CHALLENGE!
In the kitchen, he stands at the countertop.
He says, LET'S START BY COOKING
THE GROUND BEEF.
Pradnesh places a short, wide pot on an induction cooktop.
He says, PLACE A LARGE POT OVER
MEDIUM HEAT.
Maksim says, ADD THE BEEF AND COOK IT
UNTIL IT'S BROWN.
He slides ground beef off a plate and into the pot. Text reads, 3lbs [1.4 kilograms]. Pradnesh holds the pot steady while Maksim mashes the meat with a potato masher.
Pradnesh says, WE DO NOT WANT ANY CLUMPS,
SO WE’LL ADD A BIT OF WATER
TO THE MEAT
AND MASH IT WHILE IT COOKS.
Maksim adds water to the cooking beef.
He says, KEEP MASHING UNTIL IT'S BROWN
AND COOKED.
WHEN THE BEEF IS COOKED THROUGH,
TAKE A SLOTTED SPOON
AND PUT THE MEAT IN A BOWL.
Pradnesh turns the cooktop off and helps Maksim scoop the cooked meat into a large glass bowl.
Pradnesh says, TIME TO ADD THE OTHER
INGREDIENTS.
I'LL START WITH THE CANS
OF RED KIDNEY BEANS.
He pours canned kidney beans into a strainer in the sink. Text reads, 2 cans [900 milliliters]. He rinses the kidney beans with water. With the meat back in the pot on the cooktop, Pradnesh then sprinkles a packet of seasoning over the cooked ground beef.
Pradnesh says, ADD THE TWO PACKETS
OF CHILI SEASONING.
He cuts open the second packet of seasoning and adds it to the ground beef. Text reads, 2 packets.
Maksim says, AND THE TOMATO SOUP,
THREE CANS OF IT.
He adds tomato soup to the pot. Text reads, 3 cans.
Pradnesh says, DON'T TOSS THE CANS
IN THE RECYCLING YET!
WE NEED THEM TO MEASURE WATER.
He grabs the strainer of kidney beans.
He says, ADD THE CANS OF RED
KIDNEY BEANS.
He adds the kidney beans to the pot and mixes everything together with a slotted spoon.
Maksim says, WE NEED TO FILL TWO CANS
OF TAP WATER,
AND WE'LL PUT IT TO THE POT.
He fills two tomato soup cans with water, then pours the water into the pot. Pradnesh stirs the ingredients together.
He says, BRING THE CHILI TO A BOIL,
AND THEN TURN THE HEAT DOWN
TO A MEDIUM-LOW.
The chili boils, and Pradnesh lowers the temperature on the cooktop.
[Cooktop beeping]
Pradnesh says, LET’S SIMMER THE CHILI FOR ABOUT
35 MINUTES.
Text reads, 35 minutes. Pradnesh and Maksim start to clean up.
Maksim says, I'LL GET THE LEFTOVER CHEESE
WE HAVE IN THE FRIDGE.
IT'S NOT NECESSARY, BUT IT'S
A GREAT ADD-ON TO CHILI.
He takes a container of shredded chili out of the fridge.
He says, WE'LL HAVE TO STIR THE CHILI
OCCASIONALLY.
Pradnesh and Maksim take turns stirring the chili. They clean up the kitchen, bringing their dishes to the sink and wiping down the countertop. Text then reads, Ready!
Maksim says, IT'S READY!
The chili has cooked down.
Pradnesh says, LOOK AT HOW THICK IT GOT!
LET'S SERVE IT IN BOWLS.
He scoops the chili into two bowls and turns the cooktop off.
[Cooktop beeping]
Maksim says, AND IF YOU WISH,
YOU COULD EVEN GARNISH
WITH CHEDDAR CHEESE!
He sprinkles some of the shredded cheese onto his chili. Pradnesh and Maksim try their food.
Pradnesh says, MMM!
He and Maksim nod.
Maksim says, WOW! THIS IS SOME GOOD CHILI!
Pradnesh says, AND THAT WAS TODAY'S
YUMMY RECIPE.
Maksim says, WHAT A CHALLENGE!
He and Pradnesh smile.
