The singer sings, FRIZZY, GEMMA,
NEVILLE AND POUNCE.
Frizzy, a koala with blue fur, balances sunglasses on her head. Gemma, a platypus, wears goggles strapped over her head. Neville, a wombat, wears a bucket hat. Pounce, a kangaroo, hops over his friends and down a slide. All the friends wear a red and blue uniform.
The singer and others sing, CADETS IN THE CLUB,
SO COME ON, LET'S BOUNCE.
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville follow Pounce down the slide.
The singer sings, GOOD FRIENDS SURFIN'
SWIMMIN', LEARNIN’
Pounce surfs down the slide. Gemma slides down on her stomach. Fizzy follows with her paws in the air. Neville spins down the slide.
He screams, AAH!
Outside, on the Kangaroo Beach dock, he blows a whistle and points to the water.
[Whistle blaring]
The singer sings, BONDI, SANDY,
BIG TREV TOO.
Kangaroos Bondi and Sandy speed across the water on a boat with Pounce. Underwater, Frizzy travels in a submarine with Big Trev, a bearded koala with green fur.
The singer sings, TRAININ' WITH THE VERY BEST
LIFEGUARD CREW.
STAYIN' SAFE, BEING BRAVE,
RIDE A WAVE, MAKE A SAVE.
Gemma rides in a helicopter. The lifeguards and junior cadets return to the beach. The cadets surf a big wave.
The singer sings, WE'RE HERE ALL SUMMER,
IT JUST GETS FUNNER.
LET'S HOP DOWN TO...
A large wave crashes into the lifeguards and cadets on the beach.
The singer sings, …KANGAROO BEACH!

Philippa reads, KING KANGA.
Text reads, written by Rebekka Schafferius. A wave rolls over the sand, revealing an aerial view of the gated pool on Kangaroo Beach. In the pool, Sandy swims with Gemma and Pounce, while Philippa and Sammy stand in the shallow water. Neville and Frizzy stand at the edge of the pool.
Pounce asks, READY, JUNIOR-JUNIOR CADETS?
Sandy says, BREATHE.
[Gemma and Pounce inhaling sharply]
[Philippa and Sammy inhaling sharply]
Sandy says, NOW, FILL.
Gemma, Pounce, Philippa and Sammy close their mouths, filling their cheeks with air and holding their breath.
Sandy says, AND FOR THE FUN PART....
The four junior cadets say, DUNK!
Philippa, Gemma and Pounce dunk their faces into the water. Sammy remains above water. He shakes his head.
She says, NO DUNK.
Philippa brings her face out of the water.
[Philippa giggling]
Sandy says, SLAM DUNK, PHILIPPA!
DUNKING OUR FACES IS A FIRST
BIG STEP IN LEARNING TO SWIM.
She gives Philippa a medal.
[Philippa giggling]
Pounce says, YOU MISSED IT, SAMMY.
Sammy looks nervous.
Pounce says, AND DUNK!
Sammy says, DUNK.
Pounce says, THAT'S RIGHT.
BUT YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO
IT, TOO.
LIKE THIS.
[Pounce inhaling sharping]
Pounce briefly dunks his face into the water.
[Pounce letting out his breath]
Sammy says, NO DUNK.
He shakes his head. On the other side of the pool, Big Trev walks over.
He says, RIGHT, WHO WANTS TO HEAR SOME
VERY IMPORTANT NEWS?
Bondi hops over to Big Trev.
[Junior cadets gasping]
The junior cadets say, ME, ME, ME!
They wave their hands.
Big Trev says, IT'S A VERY SPECIAL VISITOR,
THE LEGENDARY KING KANGA.
Pounce says, AS IN THE WINNER OF THE MOST
MEDALLIONS EVER?
HE'S COMING HERE?!
WHOO-HOO!
He dives into the water, splashing Neville and Frizzy.
Neville says, UM, WHO'S KING KANGA?
Pounce comes up out of the water.
He says, ONLY THE GREATEST LIFEGUARD
TO EVER PATROL KANGAROO BEACH!
[Bondi clearing his throat]
Bondi says, WELL, ONE OF THE GREATEST.
Pounce climbs out of the pool.
He says, I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO SEE KING
KANGA IN ACTION!
Big Trev says, WAIT NO LONGER.
Pounce says, HUH?
He turns around. Across from him, a blue haired kangaroo with a white moustache, King Kanga, hops onto the pool diving board.
He says, HA-HA!
RING-A-DING-DING, HERE COMES
THE KING.
He flexes his muscles, flips off the diving board and into the pool.
Big Trev says, INTRODUCING THE LEGEND
HIMSELF.
King Kanga says, OH, PLEASE, I'M NO LEGEND.
CALL ME KING.
Pounce says, WOW!
Frizzy says, WOW!
Neville says, AWESOME!
Frizzy says, A KING?
King swims over toe Big Trev and climbs out of the pool.
Big Trev says, G'DAY, KING.
King says, YEAH, GOOD TO SEE YOU, LITTLE
TREV.
[Big Trev laughing]
Sandy says, "LITTLE TREV?"
[Sandy and Bondi laughing]
Bondi says, OH, YEAH.
Pounce says, "LITTLE" TREV?
King says, YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT.
TREV WAS JUST A TINY TOT WHEN
I WAS A SENIOR LIFEGUARD.
Big Trev pulls out a framed picture of himself as a young boy with King.
He says, LOOK, THE DAY THAT THE KING
TAUGHT ME TO SWIM.
In the picture, Big Trev has short brown hair.
Pounce says, AWW.
Gemma and Frizzy say, OH, SO CUTE!
Gemma climbs out of the pool.
King says, SO, WHO'S GOING TO SHOW ME
WHERE THE ACTION HAPPENS AROUND
HERE, EH?
Pounce says, ME, ME, ME!
COME ON, THIS WAY!
He leads King away from the pool. They leave with Bondi and Big Trev.
Frizzy says, BYE.
Gemma says, SEE YOU LATER.
Neville says, SEE YA.
Sandy and the other cadets wave.
Frizzy says, BYE, LITTLE TREV.
[Laughing]
In the Kangaroo Beach lifeguard headquarters, Pounce hops over to the control panel on the main floor.
He says, THE PATROL ROOM IS WHERE ALL
OUR MOST DARING RESCUES BEGIN.
Pounces presses a button on the control panel and speaks into a microphone.
He says, ATTENTION ON THE BEACH.
SAFE SWIMMING, EVERYONE.
On the beach, beachgoers turn toward the lifeguard headquarters.
They say, HUH?
[King chuckling]
At the control panel, King says, YOU KIDS AND YOUR
TECHNOLOGIES.
I DID THINGS DIFFERENTLY IN
MY DAY.
He hops out to the balcony.
He yells, ATTENZIONE, SWIMMER FELLOWS.
PLEASE STAY BETWEEN THE RED
AND YELLOW.
One of the beachgoers says, HUH?
King says, HA-HA!
SEE?
[King chuckling]
King looks down at the rescue golf cart near the dock.
He says, I DIDN'T NEED ANY FANCY
VEHICLES EITHER.
I COULD SPRINT THE BEACH IN
FIVE HOPS.
Pounce says, WOW!
[Big Trev chuckling]
Big Trev says, THAT'S NOTHING.
SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE TIME HE
OUTSWAM A DOLPHIN.
Bondi says, YOU OUTSWAM A DOLPHIN?
King says, YEAH, IT'S TRUE.
Pounce asks, CAN YOU LIFEGUARD WITH US
TODAY, PLEASE?
Bondi says, WELL, THINGS HAVE CHANGED A
BIT SINCE KING KANGA'S DAY,
SO...
Big Trev says, HA, BRILLIANT IDEA, POUNCE.
BONDI AND I WILL GO CLEAN THE
BUGGY.
HERE YOU GO.
He tosses Bondi a sponge.
[Bondi groaning]
Pounce cheers, YES!
AWESOME!
On the beach with King, he speaks into a megaphone.
He says, ATTENTION, BEACHGOERS.
PLEASE WELCOME TODAY'S CHIEF
LIFEGUARD, KING KANGA!
The nearby beachgoers glance at King. Pounce passes King the megaphone.
Through the megaphone, King says, BOY, IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK.
HA-HA!
[Megaphone feedback screeching]
Beachgoers cover their ears.
On an inflatable tube in the water, Sid says, WHOA!
[Splashing]
He falls into the water. On the beach Gherkinn jumps up from his towel.
He says, HUH?
WHAT?
WAS?
WAS IST LOS?
King lowers the megaphone.
He says, OH, SORRY.
TOO LOUD?
He passes Pounce the megaphone.
[King chuckling]
In the pool, Sandy stands at the edge with Frizzy and Neville. Gemma swims with Philippa and Sammy in the shallow water.
Sammy groans, AWW.
Gemma asks, DID YOU KNOW THAT BIRDS LOVE
BATHS?
Philippa says, YES, BIRDY BATHS.
Gemma says, THE WATER CLEANS THEIR
FEATHERS, EVEN THE ONES ON
THEIR...
[Gemma inhaling sharply]
Gemma briefly dunks her face into the water.
She says, ...FACE!
WANT TO GIVE IT A TRY?
Sammy says, NO TRY.
Gemma sighs, AWW.
On the beach, Bondi and Big Trev clean the rescue golf cart. Bondi glances at the water.
He says, HEY, POUNCE.
THE TIDE'S GOING OUT.
CAN YOU MOVE THE FLAGS ALONG
THE BEACH?
Pounce asks, COULD WE TAKE THE BUGGY?
King says, HEH, DON'T WORRY.
I'LL DO IT.
MY FIVE-HOP BEACH SPRINT WILL
HAVE ME THERE IN NO TIME.
He does some stretches.
[King straining]
King hops across the beach.
Pounce says, COOL!
[King breathing heavily]
King slows down not far from the golf cart. He leans on his knees.
Panting, he says, HAS, HAS THIS,
HAS THIS BEACH GOTTEN BIGGER?
PHEW!
Bondi drives the rescue golf cart up to King.
[Engine humming]
Bondi says, HERE, KING KANGA.
TAKE THE BUGGY.
He hops out of the cart. King takes his place.
King says, IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I'VE
DRIVEN ONE OF… THESE!
He speeds down the beach.
[Pounce gasping]
In the golf cart, King skids past Ferdinand and a lifeguard lookout.
Ferdinand says, WHOA, LOOK OUT!
King knocks over the red and yellow flags in front of the lookout.
He wails, OH!
In the pool, Neville swims with Sammy. Gemma and Philippa stand by the edge. Sammy shakes his head.
He says, SAMMY NO LIKE IT.
Neville says, I'M NEVILLE, THE DUNKBAT!
[Philippa giggling]
Neville says, AND I...
He repeatedly dunks his face in the water.
He says, JUST LOVE...
DUNKING...
MY FACE...
IN THE...
WATER!
[Water splashing]
Sammy says, NO DUNKBAT, NO DUNKBAT.
[Philippa giggling]
[Neville groaning]
[Neville sighing]
On the beach, in the golf cart, King drives over to Pounce, Bondi and Big Trev with the red and yellow flags. He skids to a stop, spraying them with sand.
[Bondi and Big Trev spitting out sand]
King says, HOOEE.
THIS THING'S GOT A MIND OF ITS
OWN.
[Wind gusting]
A gust of wind blows Gherkinn’s umbrella hat off.
[Gherkinn gasping]
Gherkinn chases after his hat.
He yells, HELP!
King says, 'ROO TO THE RESCUE!
He hops across the beach.
Bondi says, HEY, THAT'S MY LINE!
He follows King. At the shore, Gherkinn looks out at his hat, floating on the water. King hops up to him.
Gherkinn wails, OH, OH, OH!
HELP!
MY HATTY, IT'S FLOATING AWAY!
Bondi joins King.
[King breathing heavily]
Bondi says, WHY DON'T YOU LEAVE THIS ONE
TO ME?
King says, HEY, I OUTSWAM A DOLPHIN,
REMEMBER?
I'LL BE FINE.
He dives into the ocean and swims against the current. He pauses.
[King breathing heavily]
On the beach, Pounce asks, IS KING KANGA OKAY?
In the water, King says, I'VE... NEVER SAID THIS
BEFORE, BUT...
He struggles to stay above water.
He says, …JUST A BIT,
A BIT OF HELP.
CAN YOU GIVE ME A BIT OF HELP?
Bondi hops over to the dock, where a jet ski is parked in the water.
King yells, HELP!
OVER HERE!
He waves his hand. Bondi hops onto the jet ski.
He says, 'ROO TO THE RESCUE.
TAKE TWO.
[Alarm blaring]
[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
On the dock, Gherkinn stares at his hat.
[Gherkinn whimpering]
Gherkinn wails, HELP!
Bondi grabs Gherkinn’s hat. He steers the jet ski over to King.
He says, IT'S ALRIGHT.
YOU'RE SAFE NOW.
Bondi helps King climb onto the jet ski.
[King grunting]
King says, OH, BOY.
HAVE THESE RIPS GOTTEN STRONGER?
By the dock, Bondi returns Gherkinn’s umbrella hat.
Gherkinn says, OH, HATTY!
I THOUGHT I'D NEVER SEE YOU
AGAIN.
He hugs his hat. In the lifeguard headquarters, King looks at Pounce.
He says, YEAH, WELL, I RECKON I'VE
CAUSED ENOUGH TROUBLE FOR ONE
DAY.
He looks embarrassed.
Pounce says, YOU CAN'T GO YET!
YOU STILL HAVE LOTS MORE TO
TEACH US, TEACH ME.
King says, OH, SORRY, POUNCE.
I'M NOT SURE I CAN TEACH YOU
ANYTHING.
I GUESS WE JUST DID THINGS
DIFFERENTLY IN MY DAY.
He scratches Pounce’s head and hops out of the building.
[Pounce sighing]
By the pool, Frizzy paces in front of Sammy.
She says, THERE ONCE WAS A LITTLE
GALAH, WHO WAS A BIT SCARED OF
WAT-AH, BUT WITH A HIGH FIVE, HE
FINALLY TRIED!
Frizzy high-fives Sammy and jumps in the pool.
[Splashing]
Frizzy says, SO, SHOW US YOUR SKILLS,
SUPERSTAR!
[Sammy inhaling sharply]
[Sammy blowing a raspberry]
[Frizzy sighing]
Pounce returns to the pool.
He asks, ANY LUCK WITH SAMMY?
[Frizzy sighing]
Frizzy says, NO.
WE'VE TRIED EVERYTHING.
Gemma says, OH, IF HE CAN'T PUT HIS FACE
IN THE WATER, WE CAN'T TEACH HIM
TO SWIM.
Sammy sighs, OH.
Neville asks, HOW WAS YOUR DAY WITH KING
KANGA?
Pounce says, NOT GREAT EITHER.
I GUESS THINGS HAVE CHANGED
SINCE HIS HERO DAYS.
He looks at Big Trev’s picture of his young self with King.
Pounce says, JUMPING JOEYS, THAT'S IT!
He hops over to a view of the beach and spots King, who starts to leave.
He shouts, KING KANGA, WAIT!
[Pounce clearing his throat]
Pounce yells, ATTENZIONE!
KING KANGA!
On the beach, King says, HUH?
Pounce yells, KING KANGA!
King says, POUNCE?
At the pool, King crouches beside Sammy.
He says, HEY, LITTLE FELLA.
NO SWIM?
Sammy says, NO SWIM.
He shakes his head sadly. King looks thoughtful.
He says, YEAH, LEAVE THIS TO THE KING.
Later, on the beach, Sandy, Big Trev, King, the junior cadets, and the junior-junior cadets are gathered at a table beside Ferdinand’s food truck.
[Laughing]
Philippa and Sammy jump onto a picnic bench. King gets them milkshakes from Ferdinand’s truck.
He says, NOW, ON "BREATHE", YOU'RE
GOING TO TAKE A BIG BREATH.
He, Philippa and Sammy take deep breaths.
[Inhaling sharply]
King says, ON "FILL", YOU'RE GOING TO
FILL YOUR CHEEKS WITH AIR.
He, Philippa and Sammy close their mouths and fill their cheeks with air.
King says, AND ON "BUBBLES", YOU'RE
GOING TO...
[Bubbles popping]
Sammy blows bubbles into his milkshake.
King says, YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT.
BLOW BUBBLES.
HA.
Philippa says, BUBBLY!
[Philippa and Sammy giggling]
King explains, IF LITTLIES ARE SCARED OF
PUTTING THEIR HEAD UNDER WATER,
BLOWING BUBBLES GIVES THEM
SOMETHING FUN TO FOCUS ON
INSTEAD, YEAH?
Big Trev says, TOO RIGHT.
THIS IS EXACTLY HOW KING KANGA
HELPED ME WHEN I WAS LITTLE.
EXCEPT I HAD A GUM LEAF
MILKSHAKE!
He slurps a milkshake.
He says, MMM...
GREAT GUMNUTS, THAT'S GOOD.
[Laughing]
Back at the pool, as the sun begins to set, King sits on the edge of the pool with his feet in the water. Sammy and Philippa stand in the water beside him. The junior cadets stand behind King.
King says, NOW, BREATHE.
[King and junior cadets inhaling sharply]
[Philippa and Sammy inhaling sharply]
King says, FILL.
He, Philippa and Sammy fill their cheeks with air.
Kind says, AND...
Pounce says, BUBBLES!
Philippa and Sammy dunk their faces in the water and blow bubbles. They bring their faces out of the water.
King says, HA-HA!
YEAH!
[Junior cadets cheering]
[Sammy and Philippa giggling]
King cheers, YEAH!
GOOD ON YA.
[Sandy applauding]
Sandy says, OH, WELL DONE.
Pounce cheers, WELL DONE, SAMMY!
King pulls Sammy out of the pool.
Gemma cheers, GO, SAMMY!
Neville cheers, YOU DID IT SAMMY!
Frizzy cheers, YEAH!
Sandy gives Sammy a medal.
[Sammy giggling]
[Cheering]
Pounce hops over to King.
He says, RING-A-DING-DING...
He points at King. Bondi joins him.
He says, SAVED BY THE KING.

King swims over toe Big Trev and climbs out of the pool.
Big Trev says, G'DAY, KING.
King says, YEAH, GOOD TO SEE YOU, LITTLE
TREV.
[Big Trev laughing]
Sandy says, "LITTLE TREV?"
[Sandy and Bondi laughing]
Bondi says, OH, YEAH.
Pounce says, "LITTLE" TREV?
King says, YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT.
TREV WAS JUST A TINY TOT WHEN
I WAS A SENIOR LIFEGUARD.
Big Trev pulls out a framed picture of himself as a young boy with King.
He says, LOOK, THE DAY THAT THE KING
TAUGHT ME TO SWIM.
In the picture, Big Trev has short brown hair.
Pounce says, AWW.
Gemma and Frizzy say, OH, SO CUTE!
Gemma climbs out of the pool.
King says, SO, WHO'S GOING TO SHOW ME
WHERE THE ACTION HAPPENS AROUND
HERE, EH?
Pounce says, ME, ME, ME!
COME ON, THIS WAY!
He leads King away from the pool. They leave with Bondi and Big Trev.
Frizzy says, BYE.
Gemma says, SEE YOU LATER.
Neville says, SEE YA.
Sandy and the other cadets wave.
Frizzy says, BYE, LITTLE TREV.
[Laughing]
In the Kangaroo Beach lifeguard headquarters, Pounce hops over to the control panel on the main floor.
He says, THE PATROL ROOM IS WHERE ALL
OUR MOST DARING RESCUES BEGIN.
Pounces presses a button on the control panel and speaks into a microphone.
He says, ATTENTION ON THE BEACH.
SAFE SWIMMING, EVERYONE.
On the beach, beachgoers turn toward the lifeguard headquarters.
They say, HUH?
[King chuckling]
At the control panel, King says, YOU KIDS AND YOUR
TECHNOLOGIES.
I DID THINGS DIFFERENTLY IN
MY DAY.
He hops out to the balcony.
He yells, ATTENZIONE, SWIMMER FELLOWS.
PLEASE STAY BETWEEN THE RED
AND YELLOW.
One of the beachgoers says, HUH?
King says, HA-HA!
SEE?
[King chuckling]
King looks down at the rescue golf cart near the dock.
He says, I DIDN'T NEED ANY FANCY
VEHICLES EITHER.
I COULD SPRINT THE BEACH IN
FIVE HOPS.
Pounce says, WOW!
[Big Trev chuckling]
Big Trev says, THAT'S NOTHING.
SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE TIME HE
OUTSWAM A DOLPHIN.
Bondi says, YOU OUTSWAM A DOLPHIN?
King says, YEAH, IT'S TRUE.
Pounce asks, CAN YOU LIFEGUARD WITH US
TODAY, PLEASE?
Bondi says, WELL, THINGS HAVE CHANGED A
BIT SINCE KING KANGA'S DAY,
SO...
Big Trev says, HA, BRILLIANT IDEA, POUNCE.
BONDI AND I WILL GO CLEAN THE
BUGGY.
HERE YOU GO.
He tosses Bondi a sponge.
[Bondi groaning]
Pounce cheers, YES!
AWESOME!
On the beach with King, he speaks into a megaphone.
He says, ATTENTION, BEACHGOERS.
PLEASE WELCOME TODAY'S CHIEF
LIFEGUARD, KING KANGA!
The nearby beachgoers glance at King. Pounce passes King the megaphone.
Through the megaphone, King says, BOY, IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK.
HA-HA!
[Megaphone feedback screeching]
Beachgoers cover their ears.
On an inflatable tube in the water, Sid says, WHOA!
[Splashing]
He falls into the water. On the beach Gherkinn jumps up from his towel.
He says, HUH?
WHAT?
WAS?
WAS IST LOS?
King lowers the megaphone.
He says, OH, SORRY.
TOO LOUD?
He passes Pounce the megaphone.
[King chuckling]
In the pool, Sandy stands at the edge with Frizzy and Neville. Gemma swims with Philippa and Sammy in the shallow water.
Sammy groans, AWW.
Gemma asks, DID YOU KNOW THAT BIRDS LOVE
BATHS?
Philippa says, YES, BIRDY BATHS.
Gemma says, THE WATER CLEANS THEIR
FEATHERS, EVEN THE ONES ON
THEIR...
[Gemma inhaling sharply]
Gemma briefly dunks her face into the water.
She says, ...FACE!
WANT TO GIVE IT A TRY?
Sammy says, NO TRY.
Gemma sighs, AWW.
On the beach, Bondi and Big Trev clean the rescue golf cart. Bondi glances at the water.
He says, HEY, POUNCE.
THE TIDE'S GOING OUT.
CAN YOU MOVE THE FLAGS ALONG
THE BEACH?
Pounce asks, COULD WE TAKE THE BUGGY?
King says, HEH, DON'T WORRY.
I'LL DO IT.
MY FIVE-HOP BEACH SPRINT WILL
HAVE ME THERE IN NO TIME.
He does some stretches.
[King straining]
King hops across the beach.
Pounce says, COOL!
[King breathing heavily]
King slows down not far from the golf cart. He leans on his knees.
Panting, he says, HAS, HAS THIS,
HAS THIS BEACH GOTTEN BIGGER?
PHEW!
Bondi drives the rescue golf cart up to King.
[Engine humming]
Bondi says, HERE, KING KANGA.
TAKE THE BUGGY.
He hops out of the cart. King takes his place.
King says, IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I'VE
DRIVEN ONE OF… THESE!
He speeds down the beach.
[Pounce gasping]
In the golf cart, King skids past Ferdinand and a lifeguard lookout.
Ferdinand says, WHOA, LOOK OUT!
King knocks over the red and yellow flags in front of the lookout.
He wails, OH!
In the pool, Neville swims with Sammy. Gemma and Philippa stand by the edge. Sammy shakes his head.
He says, SAMMY NO LIKE IT.
Neville says, I'M NEVILLE, THE DUNKBAT!
[Philippa giggling]
Neville says, AND I...
He repeatedly dunks his face in the water.
He says, JUST LOVE...
DUNKING...
MY FACE...
IN THE...
WATER!
[Water splashing]
Sammy says, NO DUNKBAT, NO DUNKBAT.
[Philippa giggling]
[Neville groaning]
[Neville sighing]
On the beach, in the golf cart, King drives over to Pounce, Bondi and Big Trev with the red and yellow flags. He skids to a stop, spraying them with sand.
[Bondi and Big Trev spitting out sand]
King says, HOOEE.
THIS THING'S GOT A MIND OF ITS
OWN.
[Wind gusting]
A gust of wind blows Gherkinn’s umbrella hat off.
[Gherkinn gasping]
Gherkinn chases after his hat.
He yells, HELP!
King says, 'ROO TO THE RESCUE!
He hops across the beach.
Bondi says, HEY, THAT'S MY LINE!
He follows King. At the shore, Gherkinn looks out at his hat, floating on the water. King hops up to him.
Gherkinn wails, OH, OH, OH!
HELP!
MY HATTY, IT'S FLOATING AWAY!
Bondi joins King.
[King breathing heavily]
Bondi says, WHY DON'T YOU LEAVE THIS ONE
TO ME?
King says, HEY, I OUTSWAM A DOLPHIN,
REMEMBER?
I'LL BE FINE.
He dives into the ocean and swims against the current. He pauses.
[King breathing heavily]
On the beach, Pounce asks, IS KING KANGA OKAY?
In the water, King says, I'VE... NEVER SAID THIS
BEFORE, BUT...
He struggles to stay above water.
He says, …JUST A BIT,
A BIT OF HELP.
CAN YOU GIVE ME A BIT OF HELP?
Bondi hops over to the dock, where a jet ski is parked in the water.
King yells, HELP!
OVER HERE!
He waves his hand. Bondi hops onto the jet ski.
He says, 'ROO TO THE RESCUE.
TAKE TWO.
[Alarm blaring]
[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
On the dock, Gherkinn stares at his hat.
[Gherkinn whimpering]
Gherkinn wails, HELP!
Bondi grabs Gherkinn’s hat. He steers the jet ski over to King.
He says, IT'S ALRIGHT.
YOU'RE SAFE NOW.
Bondi helps King climb onto the jet ski.
[King grunting]
King says, OH, BOY.
HAVE THESE RIPS GOTTEN STRONGER?
By the dock, Bondi returns Gherkinn’s umbrella hat.
Gherkinn says, OH, HATTY!
I THOUGHT I'D NEVER SEE YOU
AGAIN.
He hugs his hat. In the lifeguard headquarters, King looks at Pounce.
He says, YEAH, WELL, I RECKON I'VE
CAUSED ENOUGH TROUBLE FOR ONE
DAY.
He looks embarrassed.
Pounce says, YOU CAN'T GO YET!
YOU STILL HAVE LOTS MORE TO
TEACH US, TEACH ME.
King says, OH, SORRY, POUNCE.
I'M NOT SURE I CAN TEACH YOU
ANYTHING.
I GUESS WE JUST DID THINGS
DIFFERENTLY IN MY DAY.
He scratches Pounce’s head and hops out of the building.
[Pounce sighing]
By the pool, Frizzy paces in front of Sammy.
She says, THERE ONCE WAS A LITTLE
GALAH, WHO WAS A BIT SCARED OF
WAT-AH, BUT WITH A HIGH FIVE, HE
FINALLY TRIED!
Frizzy high-fives Sammy and jumps in the pool.
[Splashing]
Frizzy says, SO, SHOW US YOUR SKILLS,
SUPERSTAR!
[Sammy inhaling sharply]
[Sammy blowing a raspberry]
[Frizzy sighing]
Pounce returns to the pool.
He asks, ANY LUCK WITH SAMMY?
[Frizzy sighing]
Frizzy says, NO.
WE'VE TRIED EVERYTHING.
Gemma says, OH, IF HE CAN'T PUT HIS FACE
IN THE WATER, WE CAN'T TEACH HIM
TO SWIM.
Sammy sighs, OH.
Neville asks, HOW WAS YOUR DAY WITH KING
KANGA?
Pounce says, NOT GREAT EITHER.
I GUESS THINGS HAVE CHANGED
SINCE HIS HERO DAYS.
He looks at Big Trev’s picture of his young self with King.
Pounce says, JUMPING JOEYS, THAT'S IT!
He hops over to a view of the beach and spots King, who starts to leave.
He shouts, KING KANGA, WAIT!
[Pounce clearing his throat]
Pounce yells, ATTENZIONE!
KING KANGA!
On the beach, King says, HUH?
Pounce yells, KING KANGA!
King says, POUNCE?
At the pool, King crouches beside Sammy.
He says, HEY, LITTLE FELLA.
NO SWIM?
Sammy says, NO SWIM.
He shakes his head sadly. King looks thoughtful.
He says, YEAH, LEAVE THIS TO THE KING.
Later, on the beach, Sandy, Big Trev, King, the junior cadets, and the junior-junior cadets are gathered at a table beside Ferdinand’s food truck.
[Laughing]
Philippa and Sammy jump onto a picnic bench. King gets them milkshakes from Ferdinand’s truck.
He says, NOW, ON "BREATHE", YOU'RE
GOING TO TAKE A BIG BREATH.
He, Philippa and Sammy take deep breaths.
[Inhaling sharply]
King says, ON "FILL", YOU'RE GOING TO
FILL YOUR CHEEKS WITH AIR.
He, Philippa and Sammy close their mouths and fill their cheeks with air.
King says, AND ON "BUBBLES", YOU'RE
GOING TO...
[Bubbles popping]
Sammy blows bubbles into his milkshake.
King says, YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT.
BLOW BUBBLES.
HA.
Philippa says, BUBBLY!
[Philippa and Sammy giggling]
King explains, IF LITTLIES ARE SCARED OF
PUTTING THEIR HEAD UNDER WATER,
BLOWING BUBBLES GIVES THEM
SOMETHING FUN TO FOCUS ON
INSTEAD, YEAH?
Big Trev says, TOO RIGHT.
THIS IS EXACTLY HOW KING KANGA
HELPED ME WHEN I WAS LITTLE.
EXCEPT I HAD A GUM LEAF
MILKSHAKE!
He slurps a milkshake.
He says, MMM...
GREAT GUMNUTS, THAT'S GOOD.
[Laughing]
Back at the pool, as the sun begins to set, King sits on the edge of the pool with his feet in the water. Sammy and Philippa stand in the water beside him. The junior cadets stand behind King.
King says, NOW, BREATHE.
[King and junior cadets inhaling sharply]
[Philippa and Sammy inhaling sharply]
King says, FILL.
He, Philippa and Sammy fill their cheeks with air.
Kind says, AND...
Pounce says, BUBBLES!
Philippa and Sammy dunk their faces in the water and blow bubbles. They bring their faces out of the water.
King says, HA-HA!
YEAH!
[Junior cadets cheering]
[Sammy and Philippa giggling]
King cheers, YEAH!
GOOD ON YA.
[Sandy applauding]
Sandy says, OH, WELL DONE.
Pounce cheers, WELL DONE, SAMMY!
King pulls Sammy out of the pool.
Gemma cheers, GO, SAMMY!
Neville cheers, YOU DID IT SAMMY!
Frizzy cheers, YEAH!
Sandy gives Sammy a medal.
[Sammy giggling]
[Cheering]
Pounce hops over to King.
He says, RING-A-DING-DING...
He points at King. Bondi joins him.
He says, SAVED BY THE KING.
[Cheering]
Gemma cheers, GOOD ONE, SAMMY!
[Upbeat music plays]
End credits.
