Marine life navigates the ocean.
[Upbeat music plays]
A singer sings, OVER THE OCEAN
AND OVER THE REEF.
THERE'S A SUNNY LITTLE PLACE
CALLED KANGAROO BEACH.

The singer sings, FRIZZY, GEMMA,
NEVILLE AND POUNCE.
Frizzy, a koala with blue fur, balances sunglasses on her head. Gemma, a platypus, wears goggles strapped over her head. Neville, a wombat, wears a bucket hat. Pounce, a kangaroo, hops over his friends and down a slide. All the friends wear a red and blue uniform.
The singer and others sing, CADETS IN THE CLUB,
SO COME ON, LET'S BOUNCE.
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville follow Pounce down the slide.
The singer sings, GOOD FRIENDS SURFIN'
SWIMMIN', LEARNIN’
Pounce surfs down the slide. Gemma slides down on her stomach. Fizzy follows with her paws in the air. Neville spins down the slide.
He screams, AAH!
Outside, on the Kangaroo Beach dock, he blows a whistle and points to the water.
[Whistle blaring]
The singer sings, BONDI, SANDY,
BIG TREV TOO.
Kangaroos Bondi and Sandy speed across the water on a boat with Pounce. Underwater, Frizzy travels in a submarine with Big Trev, a bearded koala with green fur.
The singer sings, TRAININ' WITH THE VERY BEST
LIFEGUARD CREW.
STAYIN' SAFE, BEING BRAVE,
RIDE A WAVE, MAKE A SAVE.
Gemma rides in a helicopter. The lifeguards and junior cadets return to the beach. The cadets surf a big wave.
The singer sings, WE'RE HERE ALL SUMMER,
IT JUST GETS FUNNER.
LET'S HOP DOWN TO...
A large wave crashes into the lifeguards and cadets on the beach.
The singer sings, …KANGAROO BEACH!

[Helicopter blades whirring]
[Cheerful music plays]
The helicopter lands on the beach beside the lifeguard lookout. In the ocean, Shelly swims among other sea creatures including a turtle and hatchlings. On the surface of the water, the junior cadets, Frizzy, Gemma, and Pounce, paddle on surf boards. Neville paddles on a body board.
Frizzy sings, WHEN THE OCEAN WAVE
IS SAYING HEY, HEY
IT'S TIME TO GET SURFING
ON A SUMMER'S DAY.
The cadets ride a wave.
Gemma sings with Frizzy, SOMETIMES YOU'LL SPLASH,
OTHER TIMES YOU'LL STICK IT.
Gemma falls off her board. Frizzy glides across the wave.
All the junior cadets sing, PADDLE IN, POP UP,
CATCH A WAVE, KICK WITH IT!
Frizzy surfs another wave.
The cadets sing, SO, YOU MAY SAY HEY, HEY
IT'S A SURFING DAY!
Gemma and Pounce surf a wave.
Pounce cheers, WOO-HOO!
The cadets paddle out to another wave.
Gemma sings, PADDLE OUT BACK,
THEN YOU PULL IT AROUND.
RIDE A ROLLING WAVE
AND SOON YOU'RE BEACH-BOUND.
The cadets paddle with the wave as it rolls into a curve. Neville bodyboards on the wave, lying on his stomach.
Gemma sings, YOU MIGHT CATCH A BREAK
OR YOU MIGHT WIPE OUT.
Neville flips and crashes into the wave. On the beach, he stands up. Pounce, Frizzy and Gemma hold buckets of water.
They sing, DUCK, DIVE, TURN AROUND,
HANG-TEN, SPLASH ABOUT!
They splash Neville with their buckets of water.
The cadets all sing, WHEN THE WAVES SAY HEY, HEY
IT'S A SURFING DAY!
On another rising wave, Pounce paddles alongside young panda Wei.
He says, GO FOR IT, WEI!
READY...
STEADY...
HOP!
Pounce pops up onto his surfboard. Wei stumbles as he pops up onto his own board.
[Wei squealing excitedly]
[Cheering]
Pounce cheers, WHOO!
Nearby, Frizzy cheers, YOU’RE A NATURAL WEI!
Gemma cheers, YEAH!
SURFS UP!
Frizzy cheers, GO, WEI!
Neville bodyboards on a wave beside young wombat Doug.
He says, NICE ONE, DOUGIE!
Doug, known as Dougie, says, WHOA.
Neville says, NOW, TILT YOUR BOARD ALONG THE
WAVE!
Dougie tilts his board with the wave as it curls.
He says, OKAY.
WHOO-HOO!
Neville cheers, YEAH!
Watching on their boards, Frizzy and Gemma spot a rising wave.
Gemma says, WOW.
THAT SWELL'S PICKED UP.
The rising wave, the swell, starts to curl towards Gemma and Frizzy.
Frizzy says, OH, MY STARFISH!
The swell crashes toward Gemma and Frizzy.
[Gemma and Frizzy yelling]
The wave knocks Gemma and Frizzy toward the beach.
[Alarm beeping]
In the Kangaroo Beach lifeguard headquarters, the surf club, Sandy hops over to the large monitor that shows an aerial view of the ocean. It shows the large swell in the water.
Sandy says, OH, GEE, THAT BIG SWELL'S
CAUSING ALL SORTS OF DRAMA.
WE'VE GOT A FAMILY OF KOALAS
STRUGGLING OUT AT SEA.
At the control panel, Bondi talks into a microphone.
He says, BIG TREV, HOW ARE THE KIDS?
On the watchtower, Big Trev scans the beach using his binoculars. He spots the junior cadets leaving the ocean.
Through his radio, Big Trev says, OH, THEY'RE FINE, BONDI.
THEY'VE MADE IT TO THE BEACH
PAST THE HEADLAND.
Sandy says, GOOD ONE.
WE GO GRAB THOSE KOALAS, THEN
CIRCLE BACK TO GET THE KIDS.
Bondi says, LET'S BOUNCE.
Through the radio, Big Trev says, I'LL KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON
THEM.
On the beach past the headland, the cadets, Wei, and Dougie drop their boards.
Pounce says, GREAT SURF LESSON, GROMMETS.
Wei cheers, YEAH, WOO-HOO!
Pounce says, YOU CRUSHED IT!
LET'S GET BACK TO THE SURF
CLUB.
He looks around the beach.
He says, WAIT.
WHERE IS THE SURF CLUB?
Gemma says, OH, NO!
WE'VE DRIFTED PAST THE HEADLAND!
Frizzy says, AND WE'VE WASHED UP ON A
SECRET BEACH!
[Frizzy gasping]
Frizzy says, FRIZZY BEACH!
She stands on Neville’s head.
Neville says, AND WOBBLY WOMBATS, I THINK
WE'RE TRAPPED ON IT.
AND THE WAVES ARE WAY TOO BIG
TO PADDLE HOME!
A big wave crashes toward the beach.
Wei says, WE'RE STUCK HERE?
Dougie says, OH, NO.
Gemma says, NO NEED TO PANIC.
THE LIFEGUARDS WILL COME AND
FIND US.
Wei asks, BUT WHEN WILL THEY GET HERE?
Dougie says, WHAT IF THEY DON'T SEE US?
WE'LL BE STUCK HERE FOREVER.
Wei says, I'M SCARED.
[Wei and Dougie whimpering]
He and Dougie hug. Pounce hops over to Gemma.
Gemma quietly says, THE POOR THINGS ARE
TERRIFIED.
Pounce quietly says, WE NEED TO KEEP THEM
DISTRACTED.
Frizzy says, I'M ON IT!
She runs over to Wei and Dougie.
She asks, WHAT TIME DOES A KOALA EAT
LUNCH?
Wei and Dougie look at Frizzy.
Frizzy says, TREE O'CLOCK!
Another tall wave crashes.
[Loud crashing]
Wei says, OH, NO!
Dougie says, WE'RE STUCK HERE!
Neville says, HEY, KIDS, WANT TO HEAR ABOUT
A TIME I WAS SCARED?
Wei says, UH, OKAY.
Neville says, THE VERY FIRST TIME I ARRIVED
AT KANGAROO BEACH.
He sits down on a rock.
Wei says, THAT DOESN'T SOUND SCARY.
Neville says, TRUST ME, I HAD GOOSE BUMPS
ON MY GOOSE BUMPS!
IT WAS THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER.
[Magical music plays]
In a flashback, on Kangaroo Beach, Neville looks out at the ocean. He wears a t-shirt and carries a backpack.
He says, SO MUCH WATER.
MAYBE THIS ISN'T A GOOD IDEA.
Neville tries to run on the beach and kicks up sand.
Someone says, YOU WILL BE FINE, NEVILLE.
A purple haired wombat pulls Neville back to her side.
The purple haired wombat continues, WE'RE WOMBATS.
THE ONLY THING TOUGHER THAN
OUR HEADS ARE OUR BUMS!
Neville says, I'LL NEVER MAKE IT THROUGH A
WHOLE SUMMER.
The purple haired wombat says, NONSENSE!
I'VE PACKED EVERYTHING YOU'LL
NEED.
500-PLUS SUNCREEN.
YOUR LUCKY HAT.
She puts a green hat on Neville.
She adds, EMERGENCY UNDIES.
Neville says, MUM!
He grabs his emergency space underwear from his mum, the purple haired wombat.
Neville’s mum says, I'M JUST SO PROUD OF YOU,
NEV.
LEARNING TO BE A LITTLE
LIFEGUARD ALL BY YOURSELF.
JUST STAY AWAY FROM SHARKS,
JELLYFISH, CRABS, SAND, SUN AND
WATER.
HAVE FUN!
She leaves through a tunnel she digs in the sand.
Neville says, WAIT!
MUM!
[Neville groaning]
In the present, Dougie, Wei, Gemma, Pounce and Frizzy sit around Neville.
Wei says, THAT DOES SOUND KIND OF
SCARY.
Neville says, IT WAS!
BUT THEN, I MET SOME NEW
FRIENDS.
In the flashback, the Kangaroo Beach rescue helicopter is flown toward the beach.
[Helicopter blades whirring]
Neville says, WHOA!
Wind from the helicopter blades blow Neville’s hat off.
Neville says, OH, NO!
A door on the helicopter slides open and luggage is thrown out. Frizzy leaps onto the pile of luggage.
She says, DARLINGS, I'VE ARRIVED!
She walks over to Neville.
She says, THE NAME'S FRIZZY.
QUADRUPLE THREAT.
Frizzy tosses Neville a signed picture of herself.
She lists, ACTOR,
SINGER, DANCER, TREE-CLIMBER.
Neville says, I'M NEVILLE.
UM, HOLE-DIGGER?
Frizzy says, CAN YOU IMAGINE?
THE WHOLE SUMMER?
A LUXURY BEACH RESORT?
NOW, SHOW ME TO MY POOLSIDE
DECK CHAIR AND TAKE THESE BAGS
TO MY ROOM.
She walks away.
Neville says, OH, WELL,
OKAY.
He pulls the strap on one of Frizzy’s bags.
[Neville grunting]
[Neville groaning]
The strap breaks off the bag and Neville stumbles backward.
He yelps, WHOA!
OOF!
Frizzy walks over to Neville.
[Neville sighing]
Frizzy asks, ARE YOU OKAY, NIGEL?
Neville starts to say, ACTUALLY, MY NAME IS –
On the water, Gemma cheers, WHOO-HOO!
She dives through the ocean alongside Shelley.
Gemma cheers, YEAH!
WHOO!
Neville says, WOW!
Gemma runs onto the beach wearing an orange and purple swimsuit and hat. She looks back at Shelley.
[Shelley chattering]
[Gemma chattering like a dolphin]
Shelley dives back into the water. Gemma runs over to Frizzy and Neville.
Frizzy says, YOU CAN SPEAK DOLPHIN?
Gemma says, UH-HUH.
ALSO SEAHORSE, WHALE AND
BEGINNER WALRUS.
[Gemma barking like a walrus]
Gemma says, THAT MEANS "I'M GEMMA".
Frizzy says, I'M FRIZZY.
AND THIS IS NELLY.
Neville starts to say, ACTUALLY, MY NAME IS –
Pounce interrupts, saying, SUPER ROO COMING
THROUGH!
On a tall sand hill behind the others, Pounce wears a blue shirt and hat. He surfs down the hill with a backpack.
He cheers, YEAH!
WHOO-HOO!
Neville, Frizzy and Gemma turn and look at Pounce.
Pounce says, WHOA!
He slides off a dip in the sand and crashes onto the beach beside the others.
Pounce says, OH!
TOTALLY MEANT TO DO THAT.
WHAT'S UP, BEACH CREW?
I'M POUNCE.
I'M HERE TO BECOME AN AMAZING
LIFEGUARD.
Neville says, BY THE END OF THIS SUMMER?
Pounce says, BY THE END OF TODAY.
Gemma says, HMM... AMBITIOUS.
WELL, I'M GOING TO WIN 100
MEDALLIONS.
Pounce says, BETCHA I'LL WIN MORE.
Through the P.A. system, Big Trev says, NEW KIDS
TO THE SURF CLUB, PLEASE.
Gemma says, RACE YOU INSIDE?
Pounce says, YOU'RE ON.
I'LL BE SO FAST, I'LL GET
THERE TOMORROW.
UH... I MEAN, YESTERDAY?
UM... LAST WEEK?
Gemma says, LET'S GO!
She runs toward the lifeguard surf club building.
Pounce says, HEY, WAIT FOR ME!
Frizzy says, LET'S GO, NODDY.
Neville says, IT'S...
[Neville sighing]
Neville says, NEVER MIND.
In the surf club, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguard headquarters, Big Trev greets Frizzy, Pounce, Gemma and Neville.
He says, WELCOME TO THE SURF CLUB.
Gemma says, COOL!
Pounce says, WOW!
Neville says, IT’S HUGE!
Big Trev says, I'M BIG TREV.
Frizzy climbs onto Big Trev’s head.
Big Trev says, A PROFESSIONAL
LIFEGUARD, AND...
Frizzy says, MY GRANDPA.
ISN'T HE ADORABLE?
[Big Trev chuckling]
Big Trev says, YOU!
Frizzy says, HE SMELLS LIKE SEAWEED!
Big Trev says, LET ME GIVE YOU THE TOUR.
RESCUE BAY, EQUIPMENT ROOM,
WORKSHOP, AND PATROL ROOM.
On the upper main floor, the new junior cadets explore the patrol room.
They say, COOL!
Frizzy hops onto the control panel bench.
She says, AW, CUTE TEDDY.
Big Trev says, THAT'S DOTTY, OUR
RESCUE DUMMY.
Pounce says, LOOK AT ALL THIS COOL
LIFEGUARD STUFF!
Gemma says, INTERACTIVE WEATHER MAP!
She gazes at the large monitor. Frizzy presses button on the control panel.
She says, SO MANY BEEPY THINGIES!
Big Trev says, CAREFUL, THAT'S HIGHLY
SENSITIVE.
[Beeping]
The control panel computer says, STORM.
SHARK.
TIDAL WAVE.
Big Trev quickly enters commands into the computer.
He says, GREAT GUMNUTS!
[Cadets giggling]
Neville spots the cadet’s bedroom.
He asks, IS THAT OUR BEDROOM?!
Pounce says, BAGS THE TOP BUNK!
[Cadets giggling]
The new group of cadets run into the bedroom.
Pounce cheers, WHOO, YEAH!
Big Trev sits down on the control panel bench and pulls Dotty the rescue dummy beside him.
He says, OH, DEAR, DOTTY.
THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG
SUMMER.
[Cadets laughing]
In the bunk room, the cadets spread out. Gemma and Pounce race toward the top bunk.
They shout, MINE!
Frizzy climbs up and leaps into the top bunk.
[Frizzy grunting]
Frizzy says, PERFECT!
THE PENTHOUSE SUITE.
Pounce and Gemma sigh, AWW.
Neville pulls back a curtain on a lower bunk.
He says, THIS IS SO GOOD.
YEAH!
Pounce helps Gemma hang a picture in her bunk.
Neville narrates, SUDDENLY, THINGS
WERE STARTING TO FEEL A LITTLE
BIT LIKE HOME.
The new cadets unpack their bags.
Through the P.A. system, Big Trev says, EMERGENCY ON THE REEF!
CALLING LIFEGUARD!
[Cadets gasping]
Pounce says, A RESCUE!
Frizzy runs over to Neville’s bunk.
She says, COME ON, NEIL!
She pulls back the curtain, revealing Neville, asleep.
[Neville snoring]
Neville wakes up.
He says, UH...
COMING!
Frizzy drags Neville out of bed. The cadets join Big Trev in the patrol room. The monitor shows Kangaroo Beach.
Big Trev says, FERDINAND'S RUN AGROUND IN
HIS BOAT.
Outside, Bondi cruises out of the rescue bay in the rescue boat. Sandy follows on a jet ski. In his boat, Ferdinand tries to start the engine.
He says, OH, COME ON, YOU RUSTY TIN
CAN!
His boat is stuck on a rock. Sandy arrives on the jet ski.
She says, YOU LOOK LIKE YOU'RE IN A BIT
OF A PICKLE.
Bondi backs up the rescue boat.
He says, DON'T WORRY, MATE, WE'LL GET
YOU OUT OF THERE IN NO TIME.
He clips a cable from the rescue boat to Ferdinand’s boat. Sandy gives Ferdinand’s boat a push off the rock while Bondi tows it with the rescue boat. Detached from the boat, Ferdinand continues through the ocean. Bondi and Sandy return to the dock outside the surf club where they meet the new junior cadets.
Pounce says, WOW!
Frizzy says, INCREDIBLE!
Neville says, OH, WOW.
Gemma says, AMAZING!
Bondi says, HOWDY, NEW KIDS.
Pounce, Neville and Gemma say, HI!
Frizzy says, HELLO!
Bondi asks, WHO'S READY FOR AN EPIC
SUMMER, FULL OF RUNNING,
SWIMMING, SURFING AND RESCUES?
Frizzy says, I AM!
Gemma says, ME!
Pounce says, ME! ME! ME!
Neville says, NOT ME.
[Bondi chuckling]
Bondi says, GOOD ON YA.
MY NAME IS...
Pounce says, BONDI!
I'M YOUR BIGGEST FAN.
Bondi says, OH, REALLY?
He nudges Sandy, who rolls her eyes.
Bondi continues, HUH!
NICE ONE, CHAMP.
Pounce says, I'M GOING TO BE THE BEST
LIFEGUARD EVER SEEN ON KANGAROO
BEACH.
Sandy says, OOH.
BETTER WATCH OUT FOR THIS ONE.
Gemma says, AND I'VE SEEN YOU WIN ALL
YOUR SURFING CONTESTS, SANDY!
He passes Sandy a magazine that has Sandy on the cover.
Sandy says, YEAH.
SIX MORE TROPHIES THAN BONDI, I
BELIEVE, BUT NO BIG DEAL.
RIGHT, BONDI?
She signs the magazine and gives it back to Gemma.
Bondi says, YEAH, NAH, WELL, YE...
TIME FOR YOUR FIRST TRAINING
SESSION.
[Frizzy gasping]
Frizzy asks, IN THE WATER?
Sandy says, NOPE.
ON YOUR BOTTOMS.
The cadets sit on the edge of the dock beside Bondi and Sandy, who stand on a platform below the dock.
Bondi says, NOW, A GREAT LIFEGUARD KNOWS
THE OCEAN.
SO, WHO CAN TELL ME HOW A
WAVE IS MADE?
Neville says, UH... LIKE THIS?
He waves his hand.
[Gemma and Frizzy giggling]
Bondi says, WELL, YES, BUT WHAT ABOUT A
WATERY WAVE?
Gemma says, THE WIND BLOWS ACROSS THE
OCEAN FAR OUT AT SEA, MAKING
RIPPLES THAT TURN INTO WAVES.
Sandy says, WELL, SOMEONE'S DONE THEIR
HOMEWORK.
AND WHO KNOWS HOW A RIP IS MADE?
Frizzy says, BY DOING THE SPLITS IN TIGHT
PANTS?
She does the splits.
[Other cadets laughing]
Sandy says, LOVING THOSE MOVES, BUT NO.
Bondi explains, WAVES AND RIPS ARE THE INS
AND OUTS OF WATER.
THE MOTION OF THE OCEAN.
Frizzy says, OOH, CATCHY!
She dances.
She sings, IT'S THE MOTION OF THE OCEAN,
SO SHOUT HOORAY!
WAVES TAKE WATER IN RIPS,
RIP IT AWAY.
[Other cadets laughing]
Sandy says, ON A SURF BEACH, YOU CAN
OFTEN SPOT A RIP BY CALMER,
DARKER WATER IN BETWEEN THE
WAVES.
[Frizzy singing in the background]
Sandy asks, ANY QUESTIONS?
Gemma asks, DO I GET A MEDALLION?
Pounce asks, CAN WE DO A RESCUE NOW?
Neville asks, CAN I CALL MY MUM TO TELL HER
I MISS HER?
Frizzy asks, IS IT TIME FOR A SWIM YET?
Sandy says, NOPE, NOT YET, SWEET BUT NO,
AND YES.
Frizzy cheers, AWESOME!
On the beach, a crab crawls into the water.
Bondi says, SWIM TIME!
Pounce cheers, YEAH!
Frizzy says, ME FIRST!
Sandy hops over with Dotty. She, Bondi and the cadets gather by a pair of flagpoles.
Bondi says, NOT FOR YOU LOT.
FOR DOTTY!
Pounce, Gemma and Frizzy sigh, AWW...
Bondi says, FIRST TRAINING DRILL.
ON KANGAROO BEACH, THE FLAGS
SHOW EVERYONE WHERE TO SWIM.
SO, PUT THESE FLAGS ON EITHER
SIDE OF THE BEST SPOT FOR DOTTY
TO SWIM.
Pounce and Gemma each take a flagpole.
Sandy says, DON'T FORGET TO LOOK OUT FOR
DANGERS IN THE WATER.
Neville says, WAIT FOR ME!
He follows the other cadets across the beach. Pounce hops over to the edge of a dark spot in calm water.
He says, I'M GOING TO BE AMAZING AT
THIS.
He looks out at the water.
He says, UM...
Gemma says, HERE COMES MY FIRST
MEDALLION.
She and Frizzy look out at the dark patch of water.
Gemma says, UM...
Frizzy says, HOW ABOUT THAT DARK, CALM
WATER WITH NO WAVES?
THAT LOOKS SAFE.
Neville says, WAIT, DIDN'T SANDY SAY –
Pounce interrupts, saying I'LL PUT THIS ONE HERE!
He sticks his flagpole in the sand.
[Pounce grunting]
Gemma says, AND I'LL PUT THIS ONE
OVER HERE.
She sticks her flagpole in the sand on the other side of the dark water.
[Gemma grunting]
Pounce says, THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO
SWIM.
Sandy says, HMM, ARE YOU SURE?
Frizzy, Gemma and Pounce say, YES!
Neville says, I'M NOT.
Bondi says, 100%?
Gemma says, 1,000%
Frizzy and Pounce say, YEP!
Neville says, NO!
Sandy says, HMM... OKAY.
She throws Dotty into the dark, calm water between the two flags.
She says, DON'T FORGET TO SWIM BETWEEN
THE FLAGS, DOTTY.
Dotty floats away.
Sandy says, "AAH!
HELP ME, HELP ME!
I'M CAUGHT IN A RIP!"
[Panicked chatter]
Gemma says, OH, NO.
Frizzy says, CAN WE TRY THAT AGAIN?
Bondi says, DIDN'T YOU HEAR SANDY?
CALMER, DARKER WATER BETWEEN THE
WAVES MIGHT LOOK SAFE, BUT IT'S
OFTEN A RIP.
Big Trev franticly runs down the surf club stairs onto the beach. He grabs a rescue board as he sprints toward the ocean.
[Big Trev breathing heavily]
Big Trev says, DOTTY!
NO!
He jumps into the water and paddles toward Dotty as the dummy floats further away.
He says, NO!
[Big Trev breathing heavily]
Gemma says, OH, SORRY.
DOES THIS MEAN WE DON'T GET A
MEDALLION?
Sandy says, NOT TODAY.
NOW, BONDI AND I NEED TO MOVE
THOSE FLAGS AND OPEN THE BEACH.

[Big Trev breathing heavily]
Big Trev slides onto the beach with Dotty on the rescue board.
He says, DOTTY!
I THOUGHT I'D LOST YOU.
[Bondi and Sandy chuckling]
On a sand hill, Pounce, Frizzy, Gemma and Neville ride sand bikes to the top. A seagull flies over them.
[Seagull cawing]
[Gentle music plays]
A singer sings, AT THE END OF SUMMER,
THE SUN WILL FADE
BUT WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE
THE MEMORIES WE MADE
IN THE SUMMER.
The cadets explore Kangaroo Beach. At the rock pools, they watch a fish.
[Cadets giggling]
On the beach, Pounce, Gemma and Frizzy each step out of a changing hut with different beach toys. They turn to the other hut.
The singer sings, YEAH, YOU AND ME
AND A LITTLE BIT OF SUN
MAKES IT FUNNER.
Frizzy opens the remaining hut, finding Neville asleep on an inflatable tube.
[Neville softly snoring]
[Frizzy, Gemma and Pounce laughing]
At Ferdinand’s food truck, the cadets leave with ice cream cones. Gherkinn bounces a beach ball on his head.
Pounce cheers, WHOO-HOO!
[Frizzy squealing]
In the surf club the cadets ride an elevator to the watchtower.
The singer sings, CHEEKS ARE RED,
THE SKY IS BLUE
I'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER.
THIS TIME WITH YOU
IN THE SUMMER.
On the balcony with Big Trev, a seagull flies at Neville’s ice cream. Neville runs back into the elevator.
[Neville screaming]
On the beach, the cadets return to their bikes and put on their helmets.
The singer sings, YOU AND ME
AND A LITTLE BIT OF SUN
MAKES IT FUNNER.
The cadets ride their bikes down the beach.
Neville cheers, SO COOL!
In the present, Wei says, SO, NOW YOU WANTED TO STAY AT
KANGAROO BEACH?
Neville says, FOR A MOMENT.
BUT THEN SOMETHING TERRIBLE
HAPPENED.
In the flashback, the cadets ride their bikes down a trail.
In the distance, Gherkinn yells, HELP!
The cadets stop their bikes.
[Screeching]
Gemma says, SOMEONE'S IN TROUBLE!
Gherkinn wails, SOMEONE SAVE MY RAINBOW
FOOTBALL!
On the beach, Gherkinn watches his beach ball float into the ocean.
Neville says, THAT POOR BEACH BALL!
Pounce says, A REAL-LIFE RESCUE!
COME ON!
He races down the trail with Gemma. Frizzy and Neville follow. On the beach, Pounce leaps off his bike and throws off his helmet as he jumps to Gherkinn’s side.
Pounce says, DON'T WORRY.
WE'RE LIFEGUARDS...
He looks out at the water.
He adds, …IN TRAINING.
At his side, Gemma says, THIS WILL BE WORTH THREE
MEDALLIONS!
Frizzy cheers, WHEE!
SWIM TIME!
She and Neville follow Pounce and Gemma to the water.
Gherkinn says, HURRY, TEENY-TINY LIFEGUARDS!
Neville steps into the ocean behind the others. Pounce dives into the water.
Neville says, BE, BE CAREFUL.
IT COULD BE DANGEROUS!
Pounce and Gemma swim after the beach ball.
Pounce says, THIS RESCUE'S MINE!
Gemma says, NOT IF I GET THERE FIRST!
Frizzy looks back at Neville being pulled deeper into the water.
Neville wails, WHAT DO I DO?!
WHAT DO WE DO?!
Pounce says, JUMPING JOEYS!
I THINK WE'RE CAUGHT IN A RIP!
Gemma wails, HELP!
Frizzy and Neville yell, HELP!
Frizzy wails, HELP!
A rip in the ocean pulls the cadets further away from the beach.
Gherkinn shouts, HELP!
He runs to Bondi and Sandy standing by the beach lookout.
He says, EXCUSE ME, GIANT BUNNIES.
OVER THERE, LOOK!
He points toward the cadets in the rip.
The cadets yell, HELP!
Bondi says, THE KIDS!
LET'S GO.
He and Sandy paddle through the water on rescue boards.
Sandy says, ALL RIGHT, STAY CALM...
[Cadets screaming]
Sandy says, ...AND FLOAT.
The cadets float in the rip.
Bondi says, WE'VE GOT YOU.
YOU'RE SAFE.
He paddles through the rip and grabs onto Pounce and Gemma. Sandy paddles over to Frizzy and Neville.
She says, GOTCHA.
Frizzy and Neville grab onto Sandy’s rescue board. The cadets and lifeguards ride a gentle wave back to shore.
[Cadets groaning]
Back on the beach, the cadets look embarrassed.
Sandy asks, ARE WE ALL OKAY?
Gemma says, TOTALLY.
Pounce says, WE WERE TRYING TO DO A BIG
RESCUE.
Bondi says, NOT SMART.
YOU DON'T HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE
OR SKILLS TO SWIM IN AN
UNPATROLLED SURF BEACH.
Sandy adds, NEVER PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER,
ESPECIALLY FOR A BEACH BALL.
COME ON, GUYS.
Gemma says, SORRY, SANDY.
Pounce says, WE'RE SORRY.
Frizzy says, SORRY.
Neville says, SORRY.
Back in the surf club, the cadets return to the bunk room.
[Cadets groaning]
[Cadets sighing]
Pounce kicks the beach ball across the room and hops into his bunk.
[Pounce sighing]
Pounce says, IF I CAN'T EVEN RESCUE A BEACH
BALL, I'LL NEVER BE A LIFEGUARD.
Gemma says, AND I'LL NEVER WIN 1
MEDALLION, LET ALONE 100.
Neville says, I KNEW IT.
THE OCEAN HATES ME.
Frizzy says, I'M GIVING THIS BEACH RESORT
ONE STAR.
From the patrol room, Big Trev says, ALMOST LOST DOTTY?
RESCUED ON THEIR FIRST DAY?
THIS MIGHT BE THE WORST BUNCH
WE'VE EVER HAD.
The cadets spot Bondi and Big Trev by the control panel.
[Gemma groaning]
Gemma says, THIS IS SO EMBARRASSING.
Neville says, WE SHOULD PROBABLY JUST GO
HOME.
Frizzy says, GOOD IDEA.
HAND ME MY BAG, PLEASE, MELVIN.
Neville angrily says, MY NAME... IS...
He turns to face Frizzy.
He shouts, …NEVILLE!
Gemma and Frizzy look shocked. Pounce grabs his backpack.
He says, GOODBYE, KANGAROO BEACH.
He hops out of his bunk.
In the present, Wei says, AWW.
THAT IS SO SAD.
[Dougie sniffling]
Gemma says, UM, THIS STORY'S NOT EXACTLY
CHEERING THEM UP, NEVILLE.
Neville says, I'M GETTING TO THE GOOD BIT,
I PROMISE!
Dougie says, I'M HUNGRY.
Wei asks, WHEN WILL THE LIFEGUARDS GET

In the flashback, the cadets carry their bags through the patrol room. They pass Bondi and Sandy.
Bondi says, HEY, WHERE ARE YOU LOT GOING?
Pounce says, WE FAILED.
BIG TIME.

Bondi says, WE PUT IN YEARS OF HARD WORK,
WHICH IS WHY WE'RE TAKING YOU

A RIP CURRENT!
She and Bondi float away from the cadets.
[Cadets gasping]
Neville wails, NO!
Frizzy says, WE'LL BE DRAGGED OUT TO SEA
AND HAVE TO LIVE AS MERMAIDS!
Sandy says, NO, THAT'S NOT GOING TO
HAPPEN.
WHAT'S THE RIP DOING NOW?
Pounce looks around the water.
He says, UM...
Gemma says, IT'S MOVING US TOWARDS THOSE
WAVES!
Bondi says, BINGO!
SO, WE JUST STAY CALM AND FLOAT.
Sandy says, THEN, LET THE WAVES
PUSH US BACK TO SHORE.
A wave behind the cadets curls toward them. The cadets turn their boards, so they face the beach.
[Cadets whimpering]
Gemma says, BE CAREFUL, STEADY.
Pounce says, STEADY.
STEADY!
Neville says, WOAH!
The wave crashes and pushes the cadets back to shore.
The cadets cheer, WHOO-HOO!
Pounce says, WOAH!
Frizzy cheers, YEAH, SO COOL!
The cadets stand up on their boards as they slide onto shore.
Gemma says, WE'RE SAFE!
[Cadets cheering]
In the present, Neville cheers, WHOO-HOO!
YES!
Dougie says, SO, WERE YOU SCARED ANYMORE?
Neville says, NOT SO MUCH.
AND NOW WE HAD MORE CONFIDENCE
IN THE WATER, THE LIFEGUARDS
HAD MORE CONFIDENCE IN US.
In the flashback, Big Trev uses a microphone.
He says, ALL RIGHT, FOLKS, KANGAROO
BEACH IS OFFICIALLY –
Frizzy grabs the microphone.
She sings, OPEN!
Big Trev says, HEY, THAT'S MY LINE.
Through the microphone, Frizzy says, GO FOR IT, BEACH LOVERS!
SWIM TIME!
Neville adds, STAY SAFE WHILE MAKING A
SPLASH!
[Beachgoers cheering]
Beachgoers run to the ocean.
A beachgoer cheers, LET’S GO!
Other beachgoers run out of the changing huts. Philippa stumbles toward the water.
She says, SWIMMING!
On the water, Reef and Roadie ride a jet ski.
[Reef chuckling]
Reef cheers, OH, YEAH!
Reef and Roadie cruise past Ferdinand, floating on the water in an inflatable tube. Waves from the jet ski knock Ferdinand into the water.
Ferdinand yelps, WHOA!
[Engine rumbling]
Reef and Roadie’s jet ski slows to a stop.
Roadie says, OH, YOU FORGOT TO REFILL IT
AFTER LAST SUMMER, YOU DINGBAT.
Reef says, YEAH, NO, NO.
THAT'S YOUR JOB.
Roadie says, OH, FORGET THIS.
WE'LL JUST SWIM BACK.
He and Reef jump off their jet ski into the water.
[Reef and Roadie laughing]
In the lookout on the beach, Frizzy munches on fries. She looks out at the water.
She says, HMM?
Through binoculars, Frizzy watches Reef and Road struggle in the water.
[Reef and Roadie yelling]
[Frizzy gasping]
Frizzy tosses aside her fries. A seagull spots them.
[Seagull cawing]
Frizzy says, SWIMMERS IN DISTRESS!
Through his radio, Neville says, LIFEGUARDS!
EMERGENCY!
Sandy hops up to the lookout.
She says, I'M ON IT LIKE A,
A...
She glances at the seagull nibbling on Frizzy’s abandoned fries.
She says, …LIKE A SEAGULL ON A CHIP!
With the fry container on their head, the seagull bumps into a rock.
[Seagull cawing]
Sandy hops over to Gemma with a lifejacket.
She says, I COULD USE A HAND.
Gemma says, AWESOME!
YEAH!
She grabs the lifejacket and follows Sandy across the beach. Bondi hops over to Pounce with a rescue board.
He says, HOP ON, BUDDY.
Pounce says, ME?
WOW, THANKS!
He follows Bondi across the beach. In the water, Reef and Roadie splash around in a rip.
They yell, HELP!
Pounce rides on Bondi’s rescue board.
He says, ROOS TO THE RESCUE!
On the beach, Neville uses a megaphone.
He says, STAY CALM AND FLOAT!
In the lookout, Frizzy and Big Trev watch the rescue through binoculars. Sandy arrives on a jet ski with Gemma riding on the attached rescue board. Pounce and Bondi reach Roadie.
Bondi says, GOTCHA.
He pulls Roadie onto his board while Gemma helps Reef onto the jet ski rescue board.
[Reef grunting]
Bondi paddles toward the beach. Sandy cruises onto shore. Beachgoers greet the lifeguards.
[Beachgoers cheering]
Later, on the beach, Sandy says, DRUM ROLL, THANK YOU,
MUSCLES.
Bondi rapidly stomps his feet.
[Thudding]
[Cheering]
Sandy says, AND WOULD YOU PLEASE WELCOME
OUR NEWEST RECRUITS?
THE KANGAROO BEACH CADETS!
She, Bondi and Big Trev smile at the cadets.
[Cheering]
Frizzy says, OH, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

He gives Gemma and Pounce medals.
Gemma and Pounce say, WHOA!

Pounce glances at Gemma.

Neville and Frizzy receive their medals.
Neville says, AWESOME!

She nudges Neville with her elbow.

She shows Neville a pair of space underwear.

She kisses Neville’s cheek.

He tries to escape his mum.
[Laughing]
In the present, Neville looks embarrassed.

[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
[Helicopter blades whirring]
Through her radio, Sandy says, ALL RIGHTY, BIG TREV.
PAINT THE SEA!
Big Trev flies the rescue helicopter over the beach.
He says, ROGER THAT.
Sandy says, AND IT'S OKAY, THE DYE
IS ECO-FRIENDLY, SO IT WON'T
HURT ANYTHING.
Big Trev releases a dye into the water.
[Cadets exclaiming]
Frizzy says, THAT'S SO COOL!
The cadets all say, WOW!
Pounce says, AMAZING.
Frizzy adds, THAT’S AWESOME!
Sandy says, THERE.
NOW, WE CAN SEE THE RIP NICE
AND CLEARLY.

On the boat, Bondi says, GO FOR IT, CADETS!
Pounce says, LET'S BOUNCE!
In a line, the cadets ride their boards through the rip, dyed purple. Wei and Dougie follow, with Sandy behind them.
[Cheerful music plays]
Everyone sings, IT'S THE MOTION OF THE OCEAN,
SO SHOUT HOORAY.
WAVES TAKE WATER IN,
RIPS ZIP IT AWAY.
IF YOU GO WITH THE FLOW,
IT'S ALWAYS MOVING

The rip carries the group toward the rescue boat.

Watching on their boards, Frizzy and Gemma spot a rising wave.

The rising wave, the swell, starts to curl towards Gemma and Frizzy.

The swell crashes toward Gemma and Frizzy.
[Gemma and Frizzy yelling]
The wave knocks Gemma and Frizzy toward the beach.
[Alarm beeping]
In the Kangaroo Beach lifeguard headquarters, the surf club, Sandy hops over to the large monitor that shows an aerial view of the ocean. It shows the large swell in the water.
Sandy says, OH, GEE, THAT BIG SWELL'S
CAUSING ALL SORTS OF DRAMA.
WE'VE GOT A FAMILY OF KOALAS
STRUGGLING OUT AT SEA.
At the control panel, Bondi talks into a microphone.
He says, BIG TREV, HOW ARE THE KIDS?
On the watchtower, Big Trev scans the beach using his binoculars. He spots the junior cadets leaving the ocean.
Through his radio, Big Trev says, OH, THEY'RE FINE, BONDI.
THEY'VE MADE IT TO THE BEACH
PAST THE HEADLAND.
Sandy says, GOOD ONE.
WE GO GRAB THOSE KOALAS, THEN
CIRCLE BACK TO GET THE KIDS.
Bondi says, LET'S BOUNCE.
Through the radio, Big Trev says, I'LL KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON
THEM.
On the beach past the headland, the cadets, Wei, and Dougie drop their boards.
Pounce says, GREAT SURF LESSON, GROMMETS.
Wei cheers, YEAH, WOO-HOO!
Pounce says, YOU CRUSHED IT!
LET'S GET BACK TO THE SURF
CLUB.
He looks around the beach.
He says, WAIT.
WHERE IS THE SURF CLUB?
Gemma says, OH, NO!
WE'VE DRIFTED PAST THE HEADLAND!
Frizzy says, AND WE'VE WASHED UP ON A
SECRET BEACH!
[Frizzy gasping]
Frizzy says, FRIZZY BEACH!
She stands on Neville’s head.
Neville says, AND WOBBLY WOMBATS, I THINK
WE'RE TRAPPED ON IT.
AND THE WAVES ARE WAY TOO BIG
TO PADDLE HOME!
A big wave crashes toward the beach.
Wei says, WE'RE STUCK HERE?
Dougie says, OH, NO.
Gemma says, NO NEED TO PANIC.
THE LIFEGUARDS WILL COME AND
FIND US.
Wei asks, BUT WHEN WILL THEY GET HERE?
Dougie says, WHAT IF THEY DON'T SEE US?
WE'LL BE STUCK HERE FOREVER.
Wei says, I'M SCARED.
[Wei and Dougie whimpering]
He and Dougie hug. Pounce hops over to Gemma.
Gemma quietly says, THE POOR THINGS ARE
TERRIFIED.
Pounce quietly says, WE NEED TO KEEP THEM
DISTRACTED.
Frizzy says, I'M ON IT!
She runs over to Wei and Dougie.
She asks, WHAT TIME DOES A KOALA EAT
LUNCH?
Wei and Dougie look at Frizzy.
Frizzy says, TREE O'CLOCK!
Another tall wave crashes.
[Loud crashing]
Wei says, OH, NO!
Dougie says, WE'RE STUCK HERE!
Neville says, HEY, KIDS, WANT TO HEAR ABOUT
A TIME I WAS SCARED?
Wei says, UH, OKAY.
Neville says, THE VERY FIRST TIME I ARRIVED
AT KANGAROO BEACH.
He sits down on a rock.
Wei says, THAT DOESN'T SOUND SCARY.
Neville says, TRUST ME, I HAD GOOSE BUMPS

IT WAS THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER.
[Magical music plays]
In a flashback, on Kangaroo Beach, Neville looks out at the ocean. He wears a t-shirt and carries a backpack.
He says, SO MUCH WATER.
MAYBE THIS ISN'T A GOOD IDEA.
Neville tries to run on the beach and kicks up sand.
Someone says, YOU WILL BE FINE, NEVILLE.
A purple haired wombat pulls Neville back to her side.
The purple haired wombat continues, WE'RE WOMBATS.
THE ONLY THING TOUGHER THAN
OUR HEADS ARE OUR BUMS!
Neville says, I'LL NEVER MAKE IT THROUGH A
WHOLE SUMMER.

She puts a green hat on Neville.
She adds, EMERGENCY UNDIES.
Neville says, MUM!
He grabs his emergency space underwear from his mum, the purple haired wombat.
Neville’s mum says, I'M JUST SO PROUD OF YOU,
NEV.
LEARNING TO BE A LITTLE
LIFEGUARD ALL BY YOURSELF.
JUST STAY AWAY FROM SHARKS,
JELLYFISH, CRABS, SAND, SUN AND

She leaves through a tunnel she digs in the sand.
Neville says, WAIT!

[Neville groaning]
In the present, Dougie, Wei, Gemma, Pounce and Frizzy sit around Neville.
Wei says, THAT DOES SOUND KIND OF
SCARY.
Neville says, IT WAS!
BUT THEN, I MET SOME NEW
FRIENDS.
In the flashback, the Kangaroo Beach rescue helicopter is flown toward the beach.
[Helicopter blades whirring]
Neville says, WHOA!
Wind from the helicopter blades blow Neville’s hat off.
Neville says, OH, NO!
A door on the helicopter slides open and luggage is thrown out. Frizzy leaps onto the pile of luggage.
She says, DARLINGS, I'VE ARRIVED!
She walks over to Neville.
She says, THE NAME'S FRIZZY.
QUADRUPLE THREAT.
Frizzy tosses Neville a signed picture of herself.
She lists, ACTOR,
SINGER, DANCER, TREE-CLIMBER.
Neville says, I'M NEVILLE.
UM, HOLE-DIGGER?
Frizzy says, CAN YOU IMAGINE?
THE WHOLE SUMMER?
A LUXURY BEACH RESORT?
NOW, SHOW ME TO MY POOLSIDE
DECK CHAIR AND TAKE THESE BAGS
TO MY ROOM.
She walks away.
Neville says, OH, WELL,
OKAY.
He pulls the strap on one of Frizzy’s bags.
[Neville grunting]
[Neville groaning]
The strap breaks off the bag and Neville stumbles backward.
He yelps, WHOA!
OOF!
Frizzy walks over to Neville.
[Neville sighing]
Frizzy asks, ARE YOU OKAY, NIGEL?
Neville starts to say, ACTUALLY, MY NAME IS –
On the water, Gemma cheers, WHOO-HOO!
She dives through the ocean alongside Shelley.
Gemma cheers, YEAH!

Gemma runs onto the beach wearing an orange and purple swimsuit and hat. She looks back at Shelley.
[Shelley chattering]
[Gemma chattering like a dolphin]
Shelley dives back into the water. Gemma runs over to Frizzy and Neville.
Frizzy says, YOU CAN SPEAK DOLPHIN?

[Gemma barking like a walrus]

On a tall sand hill behind the others, Pounce wears a blue shirt and hat. He surfs down the hill with a backpack.
He cheers, YEAH!

Neville, Frizzy and Gemma turn and look at Pounce.
Pounce says, WHOA!
He slides off a dip in the sand and crashes onto the beach beside the others.
Pounce says, OH!
TOTALLY MEANT TO DO THAT.

She runs toward the lifeguard surf club building.

In the surf club, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguard headquarters, Big Trev greets Frizzy, Pounce, Gemma and Neville.

On the upper main floor, the new junior cadets explore the patrol room.

Frizzy hops onto the control panel bench.

She gazes at the large monitor. Frizzy presses button on the control panel.
She says, SO MANY BEEPY THINGIES!
Big Trev says, CAREFUL, THAT'S HIGHLY
SENSITIVE.
[Beeping]
The control panel computer says, STORM.
SHARK.
TIDAL WAVE.
Big Trev quickly enters commands into the computer.
He says, GREAT GUMNUTS!
[Cadets giggling]
Neville spots the cadet’s bedroom.
He asks, IS THAT OUR BEDROOM?!
Pounce says, BAGS THE TOP BUNK!
[Cadets giggling]
The new group of cadets run into the bedroom.
Pounce cheers, WHOO, YEAH!
Big Trev sits down on the control panel bench and pulls Dotty the rescue dummy beside him.
He says, OH, DEAR, DOTTY.
THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG
SUMMER.
[Cadets laughing]
In the bunk room, the cadets spread out. Gemma and Pounce race toward the top bunk.
They shout, MINE!
Frizzy climbs up and leaps into the top bunk.
[Frizzy grunting]
Frizzy says, PERFECT!
THE PENTHOUSE SUITE.
Pounce and Gemma sigh, AWW.
Neville pulls back a curtain on a lower bunk.
He says, THIS IS SO GOOD.
YEAH!
Pounce helps Gemma hang a picture in her bunk.
Neville narrates, SUDDENLY, THINGS
WERE STARTING TO FEEL A LITTLE
BIT LIKE HOME.
The new cadets unpack their bags.
Through the P.A. system, Big Trev says, EMERGENCY ON THE REEF!
CALLING LIFEGUARD!
[Cadets gasping]
Pounce says, A RESCUE!
Frizzy runs over to Neville’s bunk.
She says, COME ON, NEIL!
She pulls back the curtain, revealing Neville, asleep.
[Neville snoring]
Neville wakes up.
He says, UH...
COMING!
Frizzy drags Neville out of bed. The cadets join Big Trev in the patrol room. The monitor shows Kangaroo Beach.
Big Trev says, FERDINAND'S RUN AGROUND IN
HIS BOAT.
Outside, Bondi cruises out of the rescue bay in the rescue boat. Sandy follows on a jet ski. In his boat, Ferdinand tries to start the engine.
He says, OH, COME ON, YOU RUSTY TIN
CAN!
His boat is stuck on a rock. Sandy arrives on the jet ski.
She says, YOU LOOK LIKE YOU'RE IN A BIT
OF A PICKLE.
Bondi backs up the rescue boat.
He says, DON'T WORRY, MATE, WE'LL GET
YOU OUT OF THERE IN NO TIME.
He clips a cable from the rescue boat to Ferdinand’s boat. Sandy gives Ferdinand’s boat a push off the rock while Bondi tows it with the rescue boat. Detached from the boat, Ferdinand continues through the ocean. Bondi and Sandy return to the dock outside the surf club where they meet the new junior cadets.
Pounce says, WOW!
Frizzy says, INCREDIBLE!
Neville says, OH, WOW.
Gemma says, AMAZING!
Bondi says, HOWDY, NEW KIDS.
Pounce, Neville and Gemma say, HI!
Frizzy says, HELLO!
Bondi asks, WHO'S READY FOR AN EPIC
SUMMER, FULL OF RUNNING,
SWIMMING, SURFING AND RESCUES?

He passes Sandy a magazine that has Sandy on the cover.

She signs the magazine and gives it back to Gemma.

[Frizzy gasping]

The cadets sit on the edge of the dock beside Bondi and Sandy, who stand on a platform below the dock.
Bondi says, NOW, A GREAT LIFEGUARD KNOWS
THE OCEAN.
SO, WHO CAN TELL ME HOW A

Neville says, UH... LIKE THIS?
He waves his hand.
[Gemma and Frizzy giggling]

OCEAN FAR OUT AT SEA, MAKING
RIPPLES THAT TURN INTO WAVES.

She does the splits.

On the beach, a crab crawls into the water.

Sandy hops over with Dotty. She, Bondi and the cadets gather by a pair of flagpoles.
Bondi says, NOT FOR YOU LOT.

Pounce, Gemma and Frizzy sigh, AWW...
Bondi says, FIRST TRAINING DRILL.
ON KANGAROO BEACH, THE FLAGS
SHOW EVERYONE WHERE TO SWIM.
SO, PUT THESE FLAGS ON EITHER
SIDE OF THE BEST SPOT FOR DOTTY
TO SWIM.
Pounce and Gemma each take a flagpole.
Sandy says, DON'T FORGET TO LOOK OUT FOR
DANGERS IN THE WATER.

He follows the other cadets across the beach. Pounce hops over to the edge of a dark spot in calm water.
He says, I'M GOING TO BE AMAZING AT
THIS.
He looks out at the water.
He says, UM...
Gemma says, HERE COMES MY FIRST
MEDALLION.
She and Frizzy look out at the dark patch of water.
Gemma says, UM...
Frizzy says, HOW ABOUT THAT DARK, CALM
WATER WITH NO WAVES?
THAT LOOKS SAFE.
Neville says, WAIT, DIDN'T SANDY SAY –
Pounce interrupts, saying I'LL PUT THIS ONE HERE!
He sticks his flagpole in the sand.
[Pounce grunting]
Gemma says, AND I'LL PUT THIS ONE
OVER HERE.
She sticks her flagpole in the sand on the other side of the dark water.
[Gemma grunting]
Pounce says, THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO
SWIM.
Sandy says, HMM, ARE YOU SURE?
Frizzy, Gemma and Pounce say, YES!
Neville says, I'M NOT.
Bondi says, 100%?
Gemma says, 1,000%
Frizzy and Pounce say, YEP!

She throws Dotty into the dark, calm water between the two flags.
She says, DON'T FORGET TO SWIM BETWEEN
THE FLAGS, DOTTY.
Dotty floats away.
Sandy says, "AAH!

I'M CAUGHT IN A RIP!"
[Panicked chatter]
Gemma says, OH, NO.

Big Trev franticly runs down the surf club stairs onto the beach. He grabs a rescue board as he sprints toward the ocean.
[Big Trev breathing heavily]
Big Trev says, DOTTY!
NO!
He jumps into the water and paddles toward Dotty as the dummy floats further away.
He says, NO!
[Big Trev breathing heavily]
Gemma says, OH, SORRY.
DOES THIS MEAN WE DON'T GET A
MEDALLION?
Sandy says, NOT TODAY.
NOW, BONDI AND I NEED TO MOVE
THOSE FLAGS AND OPEN THE BEACH.
Pounce asks, CAN WE HAVE FREE TIME TO
EXPLORE?
[Bondi chuckling]
Bondi says, KNOCK YOURSELVES OUT.
JUST DON'T GO IN THE WATER YET.

He runs down the beach with the other cadets.

On a sand hill, Pounce, Frizzy, Gemma and Neville ride sand bikes to the top. A seagull flies over them.

[Gentle music plays]

The cadets explore Kangaroo Beach. At the rock pools, they watch a fish.
[Cadets giggling]
On the beach, Pounce, Gemma and Frizzy each step out of a changing hut with different beach toys. They turn to the other hut.
The singer sings, YEAH, YOU AND ME

MAKES IT FUNNER.
Frizzy opens the remaining hut, finding Neville asleep on an inflatable tube.
[Neville softly snoring]
[Frizzy, Gemma and Pounce laughing]
At Ferdinand’s food truck, the cadets leave with ice cream cones. Gherkinn bounces a beach ball on his head.
Pounce cheers, WHOO-HOO!
[Frizzy squealing]
In the surf club the cadets ride an elevator to the watchtower.
The singer sings, CHEEKS ARE RED,
THE SKY IS BLUE
I'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER.
THIS TIME WITH YOU

On the balcony with Big Trev, a seagull flies at Neville’s ice cream. Neville runs back into the elevator.
[Neville screaming]
On the beach, the cadets return to their bikes and put on their helmets.
The singer sings, YOU AND ME
AND A LITTLE BIT OF SUN
MAKES IT FUNNER.
The cadets ride their bikes down the beach.
Neville cheers, SO COOL!
In the present, Wei says, SO, NOW YOU WANTED TO STAY AT
KANGAROO BEACH?
Neville says, FOR A MOMENT.
BUT THEN SOMETHING TERRIBLE
HAPPENED.
In the flashback, the cadets ride their bikes down a trail.
In the distance, Gherkinn yells, HELP!
The cadets stop their bikes.
[Screeching]
Gemma says, SOMEONE'S IN TROUBLE!
Gherkinn wails, SOMEONE SAVE MY RAINBOW
FOOTBALL!
On the beach, Gherkinn watches his beach ball float into the ocean.
Neville says, THAT POOR BEACH BALL!
Pounce says, A REAL-LIFE RESCUE!
COME ON!
He races down the trail with Gemma. Frizzy and Neville follow. On the beach, Pounce leaps off his bike and throws off his helmet as he jumps to Gherkinn’s side.
Pounce says, DON'T WORRY.
WE'RE LIFEGUARDS...
He looks out at the water.
He adds, …IN TRAINING.
At his side, Gemma says, THIS WILL BE WORTH THREE
MEDALLIONS!
Frizzy cheers, WHEE!
SWIM TIME!
She and Neville follow Pounce and Gemma to the water.
Gherkinn says, HURRY, TEENY-TINY LIFEGUARDS!
Neville steps into the ocean behind the others. Pounce dives into the water.
Neville says, BE, BE CAREFUL.
IT COULD BE DANGEROUS!
Pounce and Gemma swim after the beach ball.
Pounce says, THIS RESCUE'S MINE!
Gemma says, NOT IF I GET THERE FIRST!
Frizzy looks back at Neville being pulled deeper into the water.

Frizzy and Neville yell, HELP!
Frizzy wails, HELP!
A rip in the ocean pulls the cadets further away from the beach.
Gherkinn shouts, HELP!
He runs to Bondi and Sandy standing by the beach lookout.
He says, EXCUSE ME, GIANT BUNNIES.
OVER THERE, LOOK!
He points toward the cadets in the rip.
The cadets yell, HELP!
Bondi says, THE KIDS!
LET'S GO.
He and Sandy paddle through the water on rescue boards.
Sandy says, ALL RIGHT, STAY CALM...
[Cadets screaming]
Sandy says, ...AND FLOAT.
The cadets float in the rip.
Bondi says, WE'VE GOT YOU.
YOU'RE SAFE.
He paddles through the rip and grabs onto Pounce and Gemma. Sandy paddles over to Frizzy and Neville.
She says, GOTCHA.
Frizzy and Neville grab onto Sandy’s rescue board. The cadets and lifeguards ride a gentle wave back to shore.
[Cadets groaning]
Back on the beach, the cadets look embarrassed.
Sandy asks, ARE WE ALL OKAY?
Gemma says, TOTALLY.
Pounce says, WE WERE TRYING TO DO A BIG
RESCUE.
Bondi says, NOT SMART.
YOU DON'T HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE
OR SKILLS TO SWIM IN AN
UNPATROLLED SURF BEACH.
Sandy adds, NEVER PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER,
ESPECIALLY FOR A BEACH BALL.
COME ON, GUYS.
Gemma says, SORRY, SANDY.
Pounce says, WE'RE SORRY.
Frizzy says, SORRY.
Neville says, SORRY.
Back in the surf club, the cadets return to the bunk room.
[Cadets groaning]
[Cadets sighing]
Pounce kicks the beach ball across the room and hops into his bunk.
[Pounce sighing]
Pounce says, IF I CAN'T EVEN RESCUE A BEACH
BALL, I'LL NEVER BE A LIFEGUARD.
Gemma says, AND I'LL NEVER WIN 1
MEDALLION, LET ALONE 100.
Neville says, I KNEW IT.
THE OCEAN HATES ME.
Frizzy says, I'M GIVING THIS BEACH RESORT
ONE STAR.
From the patrol room, Big Trev says, ALMOST LOST DOTTY?
RESCUED ON THEIR FIRST DAY?
THIS MIGHT BE THE WORST BUNCH
WE'VE EVER HAD.
The cadets spot Bondi and Big Trev by the control panel.
[Gemma groaning]
Gemma says, THIS IS SO EMBARRASSING.
Neville says, WE SHOULD PROBABLY JUST GO
HOME.
Frizzy says, GOOD IDEA.
HAND ME MY BAG, PLEASE, MELVIN.
Neville angrily says, MY NAME... IS...
He turns to face Frizzy.
He shouts, …NEVILLE!
Gemma and Frizzy look shocked. Pounce grabs his backpack.
He says, GOODBYE, KANGAROO BEACH.
He hops out of his bunk.
In the present, Wei says, AWW.
THAT IS SO SAD.
[Dougie sniffling]
Gemma says, UM, THIS STORY'S NOT EXACTLY
CHEERING THEM UP, NEVILLE.
Neville says, I'M GETTING TO THE GOOD BIT,
I PROMISE!
Dougie says, I'M HUNGRY.
Wei asks, WHEN WILL THE LIFEGUARDS GET
HERE?
Neville says, DON'T WORRY, EVERYTHING WILL
TURN OUT ALL RIGHT, JUST LIKE ON
OUR FIRST DAY!
In the flashback, the cadets carry their bags through the patrol room. They pass Bondi and Sandy.
Bondi says, HEY, WHERE ARE YOU LOT GOING?
Pounce says, WE FAILED.
BIG TIME.
Gemma says, WE SHOULD PROBABLY GO.
Sandy says, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA.
NO-ONE'S GOING ANYWHERE.
WE'RE HERE ALL SUMMER.
Bondi says, IT JUST GETS FUNNER!
Sandy says, NOT SURE THAT'S A REAL WORD.
BUT, HEY, YOU GUYS NEED TO
DUST YOURSELVES OFF AND GET BACK
ON YOUR RESCUE BOARDS.
The cadets glance at each other. In the ocean, the lifeguards paddle ahead of the cadets on rescue boards.
Sandy says, NO-ONE'S GOING TO BE A HERO
IN ONE DAY.
LIFEGUARDS NEED TO LEARN FROM
EXPERIENCE.
Bondi says, WE PUT IN YEARS OF HARD WORK,
WHICH IS WHY WE'RE TAKING YOU
OUT HERE...
Sandy says, INTO...
A RIP CURRENT!
She and Bondi float away from the cadets.
[Cadets gasping]
Neville wails, NO!
Frizzy says, WE'LL BE DRAGGED OUT TO SEA
AND HAVE TO LIVE AS MERMAIDS!
Sandy says, NO, THAT'S NOT GOING TO
HAPPEN.
WHAT'S THE RIP DOING NOW?
Pounce looks around the water.
He says, UM...
Gemma says, IT'S MOVING US TOWARDS THOSE
WAVES!
Bondi says, BINGO!
SO, WE JUST STAY CALM AND FLOAT.
Sandy says, THEN, LET THE WAVES
PUSH US BACK TO SHORE.
A wave behind the cadets curls toward them. The cadets turn their boards, so they face the beach.
[Cadets whimpering]
Gemma says, BE CAREFUL, STEADY.
Pounce says, STEADY.
STEADY!
Neville says, WOAH!
The wave crashes and pushes the cadets back to shore.
The cadets cheer, WHOO-HOO!
Pounce says, WOAH!
Frizzy cheers, YEAH, SO COOL!
The cadets stand up on their boards as they slide onto shore.
Gemma says, WE'RE SAFE!
[Cadets cheering]
In the present, Neville cheers, WHOO-HOO!
YES!
Dougie says, SO, WERE YOU SCARED ANYMORE?
Neville says, NOT SO MUCH.
AND NOW WE HAD MORE CONFIDENCE
IN THE WATER, THE LIFEGUARDS
HAD MORE CONFIDENCE IN US.
In the flashback, Big Trev uses a microphone.
He says, ALL RIGHT, FOLKS, KANGAROO
BEACH IS OFFICIALLY –
Frizzy grabs the microphone.
She sings, OPEN!
Big Trev says, HEY, THAT'S MY LINE.
Through the microphone, Frizzy says, GO FOR IT, BEACH LOVERS!
SWIM TIME!
Neville adds, STAY SAFE WHILE MAKING A
SPLASH!
[Beachgoers cheering]
Beachgoers run to the ocean.
A beachgoer cheers, LET’S GO!
Other beachgoers run out of the changing huts. Philippa stumbles toward the water.
She says, SWIMMING!
On the water, Reef and Roadie ride a jet ski.
[Reef chuckling]
Reef cheers, OH, YEAH!
Reef and Roadie cruise past Ferdinand, floating on the water in an inflatable tube. Waves from the jet ski knock Ferdinand into the water.
Ferdinand yelps, WHOA!
[Engine rumbling]
Reef and Roadie’s jet ski slows to a stop.
Roadie says, OH, YOU FORGOT TO REFILL IT
AFTER LAST SUMMER, YOU DINGBAT.
Reef says, YEAH, NO, NO.
THAT'S YOUR JOB.
Roadie says, OH, FORGET THIS.
WE'LL JUST SWIM BACK.
He and Reef jump off their jet ski into the water.
[Reef and Roadie laughing]
In the lookout on the beach, Frizzy munches on fries. She looks out at the water.
She says, HMM?
Through binoculars, Frizzy watches Reef and Road struggle in the water.
[Reef and Roadie yelling]
[Frizzy gasping]
Frizzy tosses aside her fries. A seagull spots them.
[Seagull cawing]
Frizzy says, SWIMMERS IN DISTRESS!
Through his radio, Neville says, LIFEGUARDS!
EMERGENCY!
Sandy hops up to the lookout.
She says, I'M ON IT LIKE A,
A...
She glances at the seagull nibbling on Frizzy’s abandoned fries.
She says, …LIKE A SEAGULL ON A CHIP!
With the fry container on their head, the seagull bumps into a rock.
[Seagull cawing]
Sandy hops over to Gemma with a lifejacket.
She says, I COULD USE A HAND.
Gemma says, AWESOME!
YEAH!
She grabs the lifejacket and follows Sandy across the beach. Bondi hops over to Pounce with a rescue board.
He says, HOP ON, BUDDY.
Pounce says, ME?
WOW, THANKS!
He follows Bondi across the beach. In the water, Reef and Roadie splash around in a rip.
They yell, HELP!
Pounce rides on Bondi’s rescue board.
He says, ROOS TO THE RESCUE!
On the beach, Neville uses a megaphone.
He says, STAY CALM AND FLOAT!
In the lookout, Frizzy and Big Trev watch the rescue through binoculars. Sandy arrives on a jet ski with Gemma riding on the attached rescue board. Pounce and Bondi reach Roadie.
Bondi says, GOTCHA.
He pulls Roadie onto his board while Gemma helps Reef onto the jet ski rescue board.
[Reef grunting]
Bondi paddles toward the beach. Sandy cruises onto shore. Beachgoers greet the lifeguards.
[Beachgoers cheering]
Later, on the beach, Sandy says, DRUM ROLL, THANK YOU,
MUSCLES.
Bondi rapidly stomps his feet.
[Thudding]
[Cheering]
Sandy says, AND WOULD YOU PLEASE WELCOME
OUR NEWEST RECRUITS?
THE KANGAROO BEACH CADETS!
She, Bondi and Big Trev smile at the cadets.
[Cheering]
Frizzy says, OH, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
STOP IT.
OH, STOP IT.
Big Trev says, HERE, YOUR VERY FIRST
MEDALLION.
He gives Gemma and Pounce medals.
Gemma and Pounce say, WHOA!
Big Trev says, BEACH BEGINNERS.
Pounce glances at Gemma.
He says, YOU EARNED IT, GEMMA.
Gemma says, RIGHT BACK AT YOU, POUNCE.
ONLY 99 TO GO.
Neville and Frizzy receive their medals.
Neville says, AWESOME!
Frizzy says, OH, WOW!
GREAT JOB, NEVILLE.
She nudges Neville with her elbow.
Neville says, YOU REMEMBERED MY NAME?!
Frizzy says, OF COURSE.
YOU'RE UNFORGETTABLE.
BESIDES, YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE
A MELVIN.
[Frizzy and Neville laughing]
Ahead of Frizzy and Neville, Neville’s mum digs her way out of the sand.
She says, I GOT YOUR MESSAGE, DARL.
I'VE COME TO TAKE YOU HOME,
YOU POOR LITTLE WOMBAT.
AND I GOT YOU A CHANGE OF
UNDIES.
She shows Neville a pair of space underwear.
Neville’s mum says, EVERYTHING'S OKAY.
MUMMY'S HERE.
She kisses Neville’s cheek.
Neville says, MUM!
AAH!
He tries to escape his mum.
[Laughing]
In the present, Neville looks embarrassed.
He says, SO EMBARRASSING!
[Dougie and Wei giggling]
Wei says, THANKS FOR CHEERING US UP,
NEVILLE.
IF YOU SURVIVED YOUR FIRST DAY,
THEN WE CAN SURVIVE THIS.
Pounce says, EXACTLY.
AND LOOK, IT'S THE LIFEGUARDS!
He waves to Bondi and Sandy, cruising toward the beach on the rescue boat.
[Cheering]
On the boat, Bondi says, THESE WAVES ARE WAY TOO BIG
TO GET THE BOAT TO THE BEACH.
Sandy says, LEAVE IT TO THE SURFING
CHAMPION.
She jumps into the water on a surfboard and paddles up a wave. Sandy pops up onto her feet and glides across the wave.
She cheers, WHOO-HOO!
[Cheering]
Gemma cheers, YES, SANDY!
Neville cheers, YEAH!
Sandy shouts, HANG TIGHT, I'M COMING IN!
[Cheering]
Pounce cheers, GO SANDY!
Gemma cheers, YOU'RE THE BEST!
Sandy hops onto the beach.
She says, PHEW!
NICE DAY FOR A SURF.
SO, UH, WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING?
Frizzy says, WE KIND OF GOT A LITTLE BIT
TRAPPED HERE ON FRIZZY BEACH.
Sandy says, WELL, THAT SURE IS A PICKLE.
IF ONLY YOU'D BEEN TRAINING FOR
THIS KIND OF THING ALL SUMMER.
The cadets say, HUH?
Gemma says, THE WAVES ARE TOO BIG TO
PADDLE OVER.
Neville says, WAIT, THAT'S IT!
THE WAVES!
THEY'RE BRINGING WATER IN,
BUT HOW DOES THAT WATER GET OUT?
The cadets say, THE RIP CURRENT!
Frizzy says, WAVES TAKE WATER IN, RIPS ZIP
IT AWAY.
Pounce says, CADETS, HUDDLE!
WHAT IF WE...
The cadets huddle up. Sandy smiles.
[Cadets whispering]
Pounce says, GOOD IDEA.
The cadets turn to face Sandy.
Gemma says, SANDY, WILD IDEA, BUT...
Pounce says, WHAT IF WE USED THE RIP TO
PUSH US BACK TOWARDS THE BOAT?
Sandy says, WOW, THAT IS WILD.
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?
I THINK IT'S JUST WILD ENOUGH
TO WORK.
Pounce says, NICE ONE!
ROO...
Gemma says, PLATYPUS...
Frizzy says, KOALA...
Neville says, AND A WOMBAT...
The cadets all say, ...TO THE RESCUE!
[Alarm blaring]
[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
[Helicopter blades whirring]
Through her radio, Sandy says, ALL RIGHTY, BIG TREV.
PAINT THE SEA!
Big Trev flies the rescue helicopter over the beach.
He says, ROGER THAT.
Sandy says, AND IT'S OKAY, THE DYE
IS ECO-FRIENDLY, SO IT WON'T
HURT ANYTHING.
Big Trev releases a dye into the water.
[Cadets exclaiming]
Frizzy says, THAT'S SO COOL!
The cadets all say, WOW!
Pounce says, AMAZING.
Frizzy adds, THAT’S AWESOME!
Sandy says, THERE.
NOW, WE CAN SEE THE RIP NICE
AND CLEARLY.
Wei asks, ARE YOU SURE THIS WILL WORK?
Frizzy says, REMEMBER IN NEVILLE'S STORY,
THE RIP WILL PULL US AWAY FROM
THE BEACH, THEN WE CAN PADDLE
PAST THOSE WAVES TO WHERE
BONDI'S WAITING IN THE BOAT.
On the boat, Bondi says, GO FOR IT, CADETS!
Pounce says, LET'S BOUNCE!
In a line, the cadets ride their boards through the rip, dyed purple. Wei and Dougie follow, with Sandy behind them.
[Cheerful music plays]
Everyone sings, IT'S THE MOTION OF THE OCEAN,
SO SHOUT HOORAY.
WAVES TAKE WATER IN,
RIPS ZIP IT AWAY.
IF YOU GO WITH THE FLOW,
IT'S ALWAYS MOVING
'CAUSE THE SEA LIKES TO DANCE
AND IT'S ALWAYS GROOVING!
The rip carries the group toward the rescue boat.
Everyone sings, GO, GO, GO, GO,
GO WITH THE FLOW!
IT'S THE MOTION OF THE OCEAN
AND IT'S GO, GO, GO!
They reach the boat.
Bondi says, ALL ABOARD!
He helps Neville onto the boat where he joins the others.
Pounce cheers, WE DID IT!
[All cheering]
Gemma cheers, YES!
Neville cheers, WE DID IT!
Big Trev speaks through the rescue helicopter’s speaker system.
He says, GREAT RESCUE, CADETS.
SMART THINKING!
BEST BUNCH WE'VE EVER HAD!
[Cadets exclaiming]
Pounce cheers, WE DID IT!
Gemma cheers, SO COOL!
Frizzy cheers, WHOO-HOO!
Frizzy says, THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATIONAL
STORY... NELSON.
She winks at Neville.
Neville says, ANY TIME... FUZZY.
[All laughing]
Bondi steers the boat away from the beach.
[Upbeat music plays]
