NOW, OUR FEATURE TODAY IS AN
AWESOME STORY ABOUT
30 KINGSTON AREA YOUTHS,
WHO CAME BACK FROM THE FIRST
ROBOTICS COMPETITION IN
DETROIT, MICHIGAN,
WITH A SPECIAL TITLE:
WORLD CHAMPIONS.
PLEASE WELCOME THE LAKE EFFECTS
ROBOTICS TEAM, 2708.
The team appears cheering on a screen behind Daniel.
(CHEERING)
Daniel says SO GUYS, TELL ME, WHAT WAS IT
LIKE TO COMPETE AGAINST
STUDENTS FROM
ALL AROUND THE WORLD?
A woman with wavy brown hair says (UNCLEAR) ALL AROUND THE WORLD
WAS A REALLY HUMBLING
AND A REALLY COOL EXPERIENCE.
YOU GET TO HEAR A LOT ABOUT
THE DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE
THAT TEAMS HAVE GONE THROUGH
THROUGHOUT THE COMPETITION.
AND THE PEOPLE YOU GET TO MEET
ARE REALLY QUITE COOL.
AND THE AMOUNT OF DIVERSITY
BETWEEN ROBOTS
IS A REALLY INTERESTING
THING TO SEE.
Daniel says THAT IS SO COOL.
NOW, I KNOW THAT
THE TEAM, 2708,
IS MADE UP OF
STUDENTS FROM THE
LIMESTONE DISTRICT
SCHOOL BOARD.
SO, WHAT DID YOU ALL
COLLABORATE WITH AND MAKE
FOR THE ROBOTICS COMPETITION?
A man with short graying hair says SO WE MADE 150 POUND ROBOT TO
PLAY IN A GAME CALLED
"FIRST POWER UP."
THE ROBOT HAD TO PICK UP THESE
YELLOW CUBES CALLED,
"POWER CUBES,"
AND IT HAD TO BE ABLE TO
LIFT THEM UP REALLY HIGH
IN THE AIR, AND PUT THEM
ONTO THE SCALES.
AND HAD TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE
AROUND BY ITSELF
AND WITH DRIVERS, AT TIMES,
TO PLAY THIS GAME.
Daniel says THAT IS SO SWEET.
SO, WHAT WAS THE COOLEST THING
ABOUT THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE?
A young man with brown hair says SO, BY FAR THE COOLEST THING IS
WHAT FIRST LIKES TO CALL,
"COOPER-TITION."
NOW, THAT'S WORKING AGAINST
AND WITH OTHER TEAMS.
AND IT'S REALLY COOL TO SEE HOW
EVERY TEAM WORKS DIFFERENTLY.
AND IT'S REALLY FUN TO
EXPERIENCE NEW PEOPLE,
AND, LIKE, NEW WAYS OF
WORKING TOGETHER.
Daniel says WOW. I LOVE THAT
"COOPER-TITION."
SO, THAT IS SO AWESOME.
SO, ANY ADVICE FOR OUR
VIEWERS WHO WANT TO
CREATE AND DESIGN ROBOTS?
Another young man with light brown hair says JUST DO IT, 'CAUSE THERE'S TONS
OF TEAMS ALL AROUND ONTARIO,
ALL AROUND THE COUNTRY.
AND YOU CAN EVEN JOIN EARLIER...
YOU CAN JOIN YOUNG BECAUSE
THERE'S LEGO ROBOTICS TEAMS
(UNCLEAR).
Another young man in a purple beanie says YEAH, WE ACTUALLY HAVE...
THERE ARE FOUR DIFFERENT
LEVELS OF FIRST ROBOTICS.
YOU HAVE, FIRST LEGO LEAGUE
JUNIOR, TO START AT.
THERE'S LEGO LEAGUE,
THERE'S TECH CHALLENGE,
AND FINALLY,
THE LEVEL WE'RE AT,
FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION.
SO, FOR ALL AGES, ANYWHERE FROM
KINDERGARTEN TO HIGH SCHOOL
YOU CAN JOIN IN
AND BUILD ROBOTS.
Daniel says THAT IS SO COOL.
SO AWESOME AND SO INSPIRING.
WELL, THANK YOU SO MUCH,
TEAM 2708, AND BEST OF
LUCK NEXT YEAR TO DEFEND YOUR
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
AND TVO KIDS, WE'LL SEE YOU NEXT
WEEK FOR MORE
TVO K NEWS.
