(upbeat music playing)

An animation shows the colourful TVO Kids News logo against a white background.

Lucas is in his twenties, with short brown hair and wears brown trousers, a purple zip jacket and a gray striped TVO Kids T-shirt.

Lucas says IT'S TIME FOR
TVOK NEWS,
I'M YOUR NEWS ANCHOR, LUCAS.
DANIEL IS OUT
ON ASSIGNMENT THIS WEEK,
BUT THIS IS WHAT'S HAPPENING.
CANADA POST HAS ANNOUNCED THAT
THEY WILL MAKE A STAMP
TO HONOUR ALBERT JACKSON.
WELL, WHO IS ALBERT JACKSON?

A small window on the top left corner of the screen shows a black and white portrait of a man with a moustache.

He continues HE'S A MAN WHO ESCAPED TO CANADA
VIA THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD,
AND BATTLED DISCRIMINATION
TO BECOME CANADA'S
AND TORONTO'S FIRST
BLACK LETTER CARRIER.
WHAT?!
THAT'S AMAZING!
THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN
BACK IN MAY OF 1882,
WHEN THIS GOVERNMENT
APPOINTED JOB
CREATED A LOT OF
CONTROVERSY.
WHITE LETTER CARRIERS DIDN'T
WANT TO TRAIN HIM BECAUSE
OF THE COLOUR OF HIS SKIN.
AND BECAUSE OF THIS,
THEY SWITCHED FROM
BEING A MAIL CARRIER,
TO BEING A HALL PORTER.
NOT COOL, HUH?
WELL, THE BLACK COMMUNITY
CAME TOGETHER
AND TOOK THE ISSUE TO PRIME
MINISTER JOHN A. MCDONALD,
TO GET ALBERT BACK ON
THE MAIL ROUTE.
DAYS LATER,
HE WAS DELIVERY THE MAIL,
AND HE CONTINUED TO DO
THAT JOB FOR 36 YEARS.

A picture of a memorial plaque appears.

He continues ALBERT JACKSON,
FIRST BLACK LETTER CARRIER,
WILL BE HONOURED AND
REMEMBERED WITH A STAMP
THIS COMING FEBRUARY DURING
BLACK HISTORY MONTH.
WHAT A GREAT STORY!
IMAGINE, HE DELIVERED THE MAIL,
AND NOW, WELL,
HE'LL BE ON THE MAIL.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE
TVOK NEWS
TO COME.
