Duane stands in a colourful TV studio. A red screen behind him reads "Help Zone." He is in his mid-twenties, clean-shaven with short black hair. He wears a blue T-shirt.

Holding a white folder that reads "Friends," Duane says HEY TVOKIDS, COUNSELLOR DUANE
FROM KIDS HELP PHONE
WITH AN E-MAIL FROM OUR
FRIEND JESS,
AND SHE WRITES:

He reads ALL THE GIRLS IN MY SCHOOL WON'T
LET ME SIT WITH THEM AT LUNCH.
THEY WON'T LET ME PLAY
WITH THEM AT RECESS,
AND I THINK THERE
DOING IT ON PURPOSE.
WHY AM I ALWAYS BEING LEFT OUT?
WHAT SHOULD I DO?

He says AND I'M REALLY SORRY
TO HEAR THAT THAT'S THE WAY
YOU'RE BEING TREATED JASUM
WHEN YOU MENTION THAT THIS
WAS SOMETHING THAT YOU FEEL
IS BEING DONE ON PURPOSE,
IT MADE ME THINK OF BULLYING.
SOMETIMES THERE ARE DIFFERENT
FORMS OF SOCIAL BULLYING
WHERE PEOPLE MIGHT
EITHER GIVE THE SILENT TREATMENT
OR EXCLUDE SOMEBODY
AND YOU KINDA DESCRIBED THAT
A LITTLE BIT IN THS EMAIL.
SO SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND
YOU'RE NOT ALONE,AND
THIS IS NOT YOUR FAULT.
IS THERE AN ADULT THAT YOU CAN
TRUST,THAT YOU CAN TALK TO
ABOUT THIS,WHO ALSO
MAY KNOW THESE GIRLS.
SO A TEACHER AT SCHOOL OR
MAYBE ANOTHER ADULT AT SCHOOL
SOMETIMES ASKING AN ADULT TO GET
INVOLVED CAN HELP US TO FEEL
LIKE WERE NOT ALONE,
AND HELP US TO GET THE
SUPPORT THAT WE NEED.
THE OTHER THING TO KEEP IN MIND
IS,IF THESE PEOPLE AREN'T
TREATING YOU IN THE WAY THAT
YOU DESERVE TO BE TREATED,
WHICH IS WITH RESPECT,
AND WITH CARE,
CAN YOU THINK OF ANYONE ELSE
THAT YOU MIGHT WANT TO APPROACH
TO TRY AND ENGAGE WITH THEM
AND MAYBE CREATE
FRIENSHIPS THERE.
BULLYING IS NOT SOMETHING
THAT IS EASY TO DEAL WITH
BUT CERTAINLY YOU KNOW
YOU'RE NOT ALONE,
I HOPE THAT YOU REACH OUT
TO ADULTS THAT YOU CAN TRUST,
REMEMBER YOU'RE A GREAT PERSON,

Smiling, he concludes AND I HOPE YOU FOUND
THIS RESPONSE TO BE HELPFUL.
