[Magical music plays]

In an animation, the sun shines brightly over a field of dandelions. A guinea pig with long brown fur frolics through the grass. In live action, the guinea pig rests in their hutch, a large wooden cage on posts in the Sawdust family’s backyard. Mister and Missus Sawdust stand by a gate in the fence and Karen, a girl with her long brown hair in braided pigtails, runs up to the guinea pig’s hutch with a kite.

[Guinea pig squeaking]

[Cheerful music plays]

The guinea pig sings, I'M A GUINEA PIG SENSATION, WITH A GREAT IMAGINATION. I'M OLGA DA POLGA, THAT'S ME!

Facing Olga’s hutch, Noel, a black cat, lies on the grass with Graham, a tortoise, and Fangio, a hedgehog. Mrs. Sawdust trims a bush. Mr. Sawdust builds a pen. Karen skips across the yard. Olga scratches her ear. Noel swats at Olga from the roof of her hutch.

At the backdoor of the Sawdust’s house, Karen says, BREAKFAST, OLGA!

Olga sings, MY HEAD IS FULL OF STORIES, OF DERRING-DO AND GLORIES, SO GATHER 'ROUND, AND LISTEN TO ME!

In animations, Olga faces a fire-breathing dragon, stands on a podium with first-place medals and looks up at a princess locked in a castle.

A crowd cheers, HOORAY!

In live-action, Graham says, AMAZING.

Noel says, RIDICULOUS!

Fangio says, INTERESTING!

[Gentle, cheerful music plays]

On a bench, Karen and Mister and Missus Sawdust pet Olga. At a competition, a person awards Karen and Olga a rosette. In the backyard, Karen puts a carrot in Olga’s food bowl.

Olga sings, OLGA DA POLGA, THAT'S ME!

[Olga squeaking]

Title: Olga da Polga. Based on the books by Michael Bond.

[Gentle music plays]

[Birds chirping]

In live-action, Olga stands by the food bowl in her hutch in the present day. The episode title reads, “Olga to the Rescue.”

Olga narrates, WE GUINEA PIGS ARE VERY PARTICULAR IN OUR EATING HABITS. WE NEED OUR NUGGETS, OUR FRESH VEG, AND OF COURSE, OUR HAY.

She nibbles on the hay in her hutch.

Olga narrates, AS FOR THE SAWDUST FAMILY'S TASTE IN FOOD, WELL, THAT'S SOMETHING I'VE NEVER UNDERSTOOD.

In a live-action flashback, in the Sawdust’s house, Mr. Sawdust carries a bowl past a large window above the kitchen sink with a view of the backyard. Mr. Sawdust has short, dark grey hair and a thick grey beard and wears a red plaid, button-down shirt over a blue T-shirt.

[Gentle music continues]

Olga narrates, I ALWAYS LIKE A LITTLE NAP AFTER A GOOD MEAL AND ON THAT DAY, I WAS SNUGGLING DOWN LISTENING TO THE HAPPY SOUNDS OF THE SAWDUST FAMILY HAVING THEIR DINNER.

Olga scurries into her bedroom into a pile of hay. In the house, Mr. Sawdust serves Karen and Mrs. Sawdust dinner.

Mr. Sawdust says, THERE WE GO.

Karen says, THANKS, DAD.

She wears her long brown hair in braided pigtails and purple overalls over a pink long-sleeved shirt with orange polka dots.

Mrs. Sawdust says, THANK YOU.

She has long, light brown hair and wears a long-sleeved green shirt. Karen and her mom dig into their bowls of stir-fry. Karen uses a fork and her mom uses chopsticks. Mr. Sawdust joins them at the counter.

Mr. Sawdust asks, HOW DO YOU LIKE MY STIR-FRY?

Karen says, MMM. YUMMY!

Mrs. Sawdust says, THIS VEGGIE RECIPE IS ONE OF YOUR BEST.

Mr. Sawdust smiles and says, HUH.

Olga narrates, BUT IN AMONGST ALL THE HAPPY CHATTER, I SUDDENLY HEARD SOMETHING ELSE.

Olga steps out of her bedroom covered in hay.

[Toad croaking]

Olga narrates, IT WAS A SOMETHING OR A SOMEBODY I NEVER HEARD BEFORE.

She stands by one of her windows.

[Toad croaking]

Beside the pond, a toad rests on a rock.

Olga narrates, OR SEEN BEFORE! AH!

She jumps away from the window.

Olga narrates, I HAD DECIDED TO STAY IN MY BEDROOM UNTIL IT HAD GONE JUST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE.

She returns to the pile of hay in her bedroom. Close to Olga’s hutch, Karen closes the lid to the blue bin.

[Lid banging]

Karen’s gaze turns toward the pond.

[Karen gasping]

[Toad croaking]

Olga narrates, WHEN I HEARD KAREN'S VOICE….

Olga creeps toward her bedroom door.

Karen shouts, DAD! DAD!

Olga stands by her window. Mr. Sawdust walks across the yard.

[Toad croaking]

Olga narrates, WELL, THIS WAS VERY INTERESTING!

Mr. Sawdust kneels beside Karen. He holds the toad with both hands.

Mr. Sawdust says, OH! HELLO, MR. TOADY.

Karen says, HE'S ALL LUMPY AND BUMPY.

Mr. Sawdust says, HE MUST HAVE TURNED UP BECAUSE OF ALL THE BUGS AROUND THE POND. HE'LL BE GREAT TO HAVE IN THE GARDEN.

Karen asks, WHY?

Mr. Sawdust lowers his hand, and the toad crawls back onto the rock.

[Toad croaking]

Mr. Sawdust says, BECAUSE TOADS LIKE TO EAT SLUGS AND SNAILS. HE'LL BE ABLE TO STOP THEM NIBBLING ON MY PLANTS.

[Toad croaking]

Mr. Sawdust looks thoughtful.

He says, HE LOOKS LIKE A REALLY VENERABLE TOAD.

Karen asks, WHAT DOES VENERABLE MEAN?

Mr. Sawdust says, IT MEANS HE'S OLD. MAYBE A HUNDRED IN TOAD YEARS.

[Toad croaking]

Mr. Sawdust says, MAKE SURE TO GOBBLE UP ALL OF THOSE BEASTIES FOR ME.

Mrs. Sawdust calls out, KAREN, HOMEWORK!

Karen says, COMING, MUM!

She glances toward the house and then back at the toad.

Karen says, BYE-BYE, VENERABLE TOAD.

She waves to the toad.

[Mr. Sawdust chuckling]

[Toad croaking]

Karen skips across the yard. Mr. Sawdust stands and grabs a wooden crate off the compost bin.

Olga narrates, WELL, NOW I KNEW WHAT HE WAS AND KNEW HIS NAME. IT SEEMED RUDE NOT TO INTRODUCE MYSELF.

[Olga clears her throat]

At the window, Olga says, HELLO, VEN… VENABLES. I'M OLGA DA POLGA. I HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A PLEASANT EVENING.

[Toad croaking]

Olga asks, WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR A STORY PERHAPS?

[Toad croaking]

Olga narrates, I TOOK THAT AS A YES.

She scurries around her hutch.

Olga says, WELL, IT ALL STARTED IN THE YEAR 200 B.D. IN PERU, WHEN THE QUEEN OF GUINEA PIGS –

[Toad croaking]

The toad tucks itself against a rock beside some grass.

Olga narrates, I THOUGHT THAT WAS RATHER RUDE, BUT I SUPPOSE IT WAS GETTING LATE. MAYBE TOMORROW INSTEAD.

The toad climbs onto a different rock.

[Toad croaking]

Olga says, AND GOODNIGHT TO YOU, TOO, VENABLES!

The toad climbs through a gate over the pond and swims away.

[Splashing]

Olga narrates, ALTHOUGH VENABLES HAD SOME VERY STRANGE WAYS, I LIKED HIM. IT WAS NICE TO HAVE A NEW FRIEND.

She munches on hay in her hutch.

[Gentle, cheerful music plays]

The toad climbs off a rock onto the grass.

[Toad croaking]

Elsewhere in the yard, Fangio wanders around one of the box gardens.

[Fangio singing]

[Birds chirping]

A light wind blows leaves on a tall tree.

Mr. Sawdust says, PASTA ON TUESDAY, FISH ON WEDNESDAY, BUT WHAT ABOUT TODAY?

He stands in the kitchen with Karen and Mrs. Sawdust. Karen wears her school uniform, a grey dress over a yellow polo shirt, and Mrs. Sawdust wears a blue blazer with a green and pink scarf. Karen eats a bowl of cereal, and Mrs. Sawdust fills a travel mug with hot water.

Mr. Sawdust looks in the fridge and says, UH, POTATOES, EGGS… I KNOW! WHAT ABOUT TOAD IN THE HOLE?

Karen says, YEAH! I LOVE TOAD IN THE HOLE!

Mr. Sawdust says, WE JUST NEED SOME SAUSAGES.

Mrs. Sawdust puts a lid on her mug, and Mr. Sawdust closes the fridge.

Mr. Sawdust asks, DO YOU THINK YOU CAN GET SOME ON THE WAY HOME?

Mrs. Sawdust says, SHOULD BE ABLE TO.

She grabs her keys.

She asks, YOU READY, KAREN?

Karen says, I JUST NEED TO CHANGE OLGA'S WATER, MUM. TWO MINUTES.

She quickly leaves. Mrs. Sawdust grabs her purse. In the backyard, Karen skips toward Olga’s hutch with a bottle of water.

Karen sings, TOAD IN THE HOLE FOR DINNER, TOAD IN THE HOLE FOR DINNER.

[Karen humming]

Karen swaps the water bottle on Olga’s hutch for the new one. She unhooks the old one from a wire hanging on the mesh wall and slides the new one into place. Karen walks over to the clear door on the hutch and leans toward Olga.

Karen says, WE'RE HAVING TOAD IN THE HOLE FOR DINNER, OLGA.

Olga narrates, I COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I WAS HEARING.

Karen skips back to the house.

She sings, TOAD IN THE HOLE FOR DINNER, TOAD IN THE HOLE FOR DINNER.

The venerable toad rests on a rock near the pond beside purple flowers.

Olga narrates, TO THINK THAT ONE MINUTE POOR VENABLES WAS BEING WELCOMED INTO THE GARDEN AS A GUEST AND THE NEXT DAY, HE WAS ON THE MENU FOR DINNER!

She runs to the side of her hutch and stands against the mesh with her front paws on the wire.

Olga wails, HELP! HELP! HELP!

[Olga squeaking]

By a tree, Fangio’s nose twitches.

Fangio says, OLGA?

[Olga squeaking]

Noel walks over to Olga’s hutch. Graham climbs the small hill facing it.

Graham asks, WHAT'S THE MATTER, OLGA?

Olga says, IT'S VENABLES. WE MUST WARN VENABLES!

Noel says, HUH?

On the hill, Fangio says, VENABLES? WHO IS THIS VENABLES? IT'S NOT A DOG, IS IT?

Olga says, NO! VENABLES IS A TOAD WHO IS A VERY CLOSE FRIEND OF MINE. AND HE'S IN GREAT DANGER!

[Graham slowly gasping]

Olga says, VERY GREAT DANGER, INDEED! IN FACT, HE'S GOING TO BE EATEN BY THE SAWDUST FAMILY.

Graham says, NO!

Olga says, YES!

Fangio says, FANCY ANYONE WANTING TO EAT A TOAD. MIND YOU, HUMANS DO FUNNY THINGS.

Graham asks, WHERE IS THIS FRIEND OF YOURS, OLGA?

Olga says, RIGHT BEHIND YOU.

The venerable toad crawls up beside Grafham.

Graham nervously says, HUH?

[Toad croaking]

Olga says, WE HAVE TO RESCUE HIM. I'LL DIRECT THE OPERATION FROM MY HUTCH.

Noel asks, WHY YOU?

Olga says, BECAUSE GUINEA PIGS ARE THE BEST AT ORGANIZING RESCUE OPERATIONS. IT GOES WAY BACK TO THE REIGN OF, OF… OF GOOD… QUEEN ELIZA-GUINEA PIG THE FIRST.

Olga narrates an animated story. In the animation, Olga, Noel, Fangio and Graham stand side by side in a muddy puddle. Olga wears a crown.

Olga narrates, SHE WAS A BRAVE AND HEROIC QUEEN.

Noel tosses a shirt over the puddle. He, Fangio and Graham bow. Olga walks across the shirt and splashes Noel with mud.

[Splatting]

Olga narrates, WHEN HER KINGDOM WAS ABOUT TO BE INVADED BY AN ARMY OF DANDELION-DESTROYING LAWNMOWERS, SHE DEVISED A PLAN.

A red lawnmower, a purple lawnmower and a blue lawnmower with eyes appear at the top of a grassy hill full of dandelions.

Olga narrates, SHE ORGANIZED HER SUBJECTS TO DIG A REALLY, REALLY DEEP DITCH ALL AROUND HER LAND.

Toads dig a ditch around a castle. The red lawnmower cruises across the grass.

Olga narrates, AS THE LAWNMOWERS ADVANCED, ONE BY ONE, THEY FELL INTO THE DITCH NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN.

All three lawnmowers fall into the ditch, and the story ends.

[Celebratory horn]

[Cheering]

In the live-action flashback, Olga says, SUCH AN INSPIRATIONAL LEADER.

Noel says, NEVER MIND, QUEEN ELIZA-GUINEA PIG. HOW EXACTLY ARE WE GOING TO SAVE VENABLES?

Olga says, WE HAVE TO MAKE HIM PLACES TO HIDE SO THE SAWDUST FAMILY CAN'T FIND HIM. GRAHAM, YOU GO TO THE FLOWER BED TO MAKE HIM A LITTLE NEST IN THERE.

Graham starts to leave. He slowly climbs down the hill. Noel follows.

Olga says, FANGIO, YOU HEAD FOR THE COMPOST HEAP.

Fangio climbs down the hill. Noel lies in a box vegetable patch.

Noel asks, AND I SUPPOSE I'M DIGGING HERE?

Olga says, EXACTLY, NOEL. THANK YOU.

[Fangio humming]

In a corner of the yard, Fangio climbs over a log in the compost heap. Graham slowly walks by a flower bed.

[Rustling]

In the vegetable patch, Noel kicks up dirt. He digs a hole beside a knocked-over bean plant. Fangio walks alongside a flower bed ahead of Graham.

Olga says, BRILLIANT WORK, SUBJECTS! I MEAN, FRIENDS.

[Birds chirping]

Noel lies in the hole in the vegetable patch.

On the small hill, Fangio says, WELL, THEY WON'T FIND VENABLES DOWN THAT HOLE IN A HURRY, NOEL.

Olga says, DON'T MENTION THE WORD "HOLE".

Noel flicks his tail.

Olga says, THAT'S EXACTLY HOW THE SAWDUST FAMILY WERE GOING TO COOK VENABLES.

[Graham gulping]

Olga says, TOAD IN THE HOLE!

Fangio sniffs the air.

[Sniffing]

Noel says, TOAD IN THE HOLE? I'LL GIVE YOU TOAD IN THE HOLE!

Olga says, EXCUSE ME! BUT I HAPPEN TO BE A VERY STRICT VEGETARIAN.

Noel says, OLGA! TOAD IN THE HOLE IS WHAT HUMAN BEINGS CALL SAUSAGES IN BATTER.

Olga says, UH?

Noel says, NOTHING TO DO WITH REAL TOADS LIKE VENABLES.

Olga says, OH. UH. OH…

[Gate lock clicking]

At the gate, Karen says, WE'RE HOME!

She skips into the yard ahead of her mom. Fangio hides behind a tree stump. Graham closes his eyes.

[Graham gulping]

Karen skips across the yard toward Olga’s hutch. Mrs. Sawdust smiles and then frowns. She furrows her brow.

Mrs. Sawdust says, NOEL?

Noel sits in the hole in the vegetable patch. Karen opens Olga’s hutch.

Karen says, I MISSED YOU, OLGA.

She gives Olga a handful of grass.

Mrs. Sawdust says, WHAT ON EARTH HAVE YOU BEEN DOING IN THE VEGETABLE PATCH, NOEL?

At the back door, Mr. Sawdust says, OH, NOEL. LOOK AT THE MESS. YOU'VE DUG A HUGE HOLE. THAT'S NAUGHTY.

Noel looks away.

Olga says, OOPS.

Noel climbs out of the hole in the vegetable patch.

Mrs. Sawdust says, HOLE? OH, NO! I FORGOT THE SAUSAGES.

Mr. Sawdust walks over with his coffee mug.

He says, OH, NEVER MIND. WE'LL USE THE BEANS THAT NOEL KNOCKED OVER TO MAKE A VEGETARIAN VERSION.

Mr. Sawdust turns toward Karen.

He calls out, BEANS IN THE HOLE! HOW DOES THAT SOUND?

Karen says, YUM!

[Mister and Missus Sawdust chuckling]

Karen runs to the house.

Olga narrates, I AGREED WITH KAREN. IT SOUNDED VERY NICE INDEED.

She nibbles on a carrot.

[Gentle music plays]

A bird flies away from a birdhouse on the fence.

Olga narrates, NOEL EVENTUALLY FORGAVE ME FOR GETTING HIM INTO TROUBLE AND BEANS IN THE HOLE WAS A GREAT SUCCESS.

Noel lies in the sun on the hill near Olga’s summer run.

Olga narrates, SOMETIMES IT'S BETTER TO STICK WITH VEGETABLES. UNLESS YOU'RE A TOAD, OF COURSE.

The venerable toad lies on a rock beside the pond.

[Toad croaking]
