[Magical music plays]

In an animation, the sun shines brightly over a field of dandelions. A guinea pig with long brown fur frolics through the grass. In live action, the guinea pig rests in their hutch, a large wooden cage on posts in the Sawdust family’s backyard. Mister and Missus Sawdust stand by a gate in the fence and Karen, a girl with her long brown hair in braided pigtails, runs up to the guinea pig’s hutch with a kite.

[Guinea pig squeaking]

[Cheerful music plays]

The guinea pig sings, I'M A GUINEA PIG SENSATION, WITH A GREAT IMAGINATION. I'M OLGA DA POLGA, THAT'S ME!

Facing Olga’s hutch, Noel, a black cat, lies on the grass with Graham, a tortoise, and Fangio, a hedgehog. Mrs. Sawdust trims a bush. Mr. Sawdust builds a pen. Karen skips across the yard. Olga scratches her ear. Noel swats at Olga from the roof of her hutch.

At the backdoor of the Sawdust’s house, Karen says, BREAKFAST, OLGA!

Olga sings, MY HEAD IS FULL OF STORIES, OF DERRING-DO AND GLORIES, SO GATHER 'ROUND, AND LISTEN TO ME!

In animations, Olga faces a fire-breathing dragon, stands on a podium with first-place medals and looks up at a princess locked in a castle.

A crowd cheers, HOORAY!

In live-action, Graham says, AMAZING.

Noel says, RIDICULOUS!

Fangio says, INTERESTING!

[Gentle, cheerful music plays]

On a bench, Karen and Mister and Missus Sawdust pet Olga. At a competition, a person awards Karen and Olga a rosette. In the backyard, Karen puts a carrot in Olga’s food bowl.

Olga sings, OLGA DA POLGA, THAT'S ME!

[Olga squeaking]

Title: Olga da Polga. Based on the books by Michael Bond.

[Gentle music plays]

In live action, in the present day, a light wind gently blows squares of fabric hanging against the back fence in the Sawdust’s family’s backyard behind Olga da Polga’s hutch. The episode title reads, “The Dance of the Sugar Plum Guinea Pig.”

[Birds chirping]

Olga narrates, WEATHER.

In her hutch, Olga carries a leafy green between her tiny teeth.

[Olga squeaking]

Olga narrates, I'VE BEEN THROUGH IT ALL.

[Olga munching]

In a flashback, it rains.

[Rain pattering]

Olga narrates, RAIN!

Wind blows leaves across the yard and around Olga’s hutch.

Olga narrates, WIND.

[Wind gusting]

In the grass, Fangio raises his nose.

Olga narrates, BUT THE WEATHER I REALLY REMEMBER IS THUNDER.

Under a dark sky, a bird flies to a tree and perches on a branch.

[Thunder crashing]

In the yard, Graham closes his eyes,

Olga narrates, IN FACT, I'LL NEVER FORGET IT.

In the present, Olga finishes her leafy green.

[Olga squeaking]

[Dinging]

In a live-action flashback, the sun shines over the yard. Light wind blows leaves on a branch.

Olga narrates over the flashback, IT WAS QUIET IN THE GARDEN THAT DAY.

[Wind softly gusting]

[Birds quietly chirping]

Olga narrates, AND I DECIDED TO STAY IN BED WHEN I WAS RUDELY AWAKENED.

[Thunder crashing]

[Olga gasping]

In the bedroom in her hutch, Olga pokes her head out from under a pile of hay.

Olga narrates, WHAT WAS THAT?

She climbs out of the hay.

[Thunder rumbling]

Dark clouds fill the sky.

Olga asks, IS THAT YOU, NOEL?

The wind blows the trees and squares of fabric against the fence.

Olga narrates, IT WAS SIMPLY A FACT OF NATURE THAT CATS CAN'T HELP SNEAKING UP ON GUINEA PIGS.

Olga nibbles on the hay in her hutch.

[Olga squeaking]

Olga runs away from her windows.

Against one of the gated walls, Olga says, REALLY, NOEL! I'M TRYING TO SLEEP.

[Olga squeaking]

[Wind gusting]

Olga scurries up to the window facing the yard.

She narrates, BUT NOEL WASN'T THERE. IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE.

[Thunder crashing loudly]

Lightning flickers, and light flashes through Olga’s hutch.

[Olga squeaking franticly]

Olga leaps away from her food bowl.

Olga narrates, THOSE LOUD NOISES, THAT BRIGHT LIGHT, IT COULD ONLY MEAN ONE THING.

She hides in her straw house.

Olga narrates, THE SKY'S FALLING DOWN!

[Thunder rumbling]

[Olga squeaking franticly]

Olga paces around the hutch.

She narrates, SAVE ME! HELP ME!

Olga looks out a window.

She narrates, I WAS IN SUCH A PANIC, I JUMPED INTO MY BED TO TAKE COVER.

Olga runs back to her pile of hay.

[Olga squeaking]

At the back door of the Sawdust’s house, Karen runs outside. Karen wears her long brown hair in braided pigtails and purple overalls over a pink long-sleeved shirt with orange polka dots.

Karen calls out, OLGA!

[Olga squeaking]

Olga nuzzles into the hay. Karen rushes down the stairs. Mr. Sawdust steps outside and looks toward the sky. Mr. Sawdust has short, dark grey hair and a thick grey beard. He wears a red plaid, button-down shirt over a blue T-shirt.

Mr. Sawdust says, OH, IT MUST BE THE THUNDER.

He follows Karen down the stairs.

[Olga squeaking]

Karen runs up to Olga’s hutch and opens the door.

[Lock clanging]

She says, DON'T WORRY, OLGA. I'M HERE.

Mr. Sawdust looks in the hutch and says, OHH.

Inside the Sawdust’s house, Olga lies on a folded blanket. Karen pets her silky fur.

[Olga whimpering]

Karen sits at the kitchen counter with Olga. At the sink, Mr. Sawdust dries a dish.

Karen says, IT'S OKAY, OLGA. IT WAS JUST A LITTLE THUNDERSTORM. IT'S OVER NOW. YOU'RE FINE.

Olga narrates, FINE? I DIDN'T FEEL FINE. IN FACT, I DIDN'T FEEL LIKE MYSELF AT ALL.

Karen says, SHE'S VERY QUIET.

Mr. Sawdust says, HMM. LET'S GET HER COMFORTABLE IN HER HUTCH. I'LL KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON HER.

Karen nods.

[Gentle music plays]

Outside, Noel leaps off a stone wall near Olga’s hutch. The wind gently blows the trees and plants around the hutch. Inside the hutch, Olga lies in her pile of hay.

Olga narrates, AS SOON AS MY HEAD TOUCHED THE HAY, I FELL FAST ASLEEP. I WAS SO WORN OUT.

She burrows further into the hay. By the compost heap, Fangio sniffs around a pile of leaves.

[Fangio sniffing]

Fangio climbs over a log and walks through the grass.

[Fangio singing]

Noel lies on a small hill facing Olga’s hutch.

Noel says, I CAME ALL THE WAY FROM THE HOUSE TO SEE HER. THE LEAST SHE COULD DO IS SAY, "HELLO."

From nearby, Graham says, OLGA.

[Graham yawning]

Graham says, I BROUGHT YOU A DANDELION LEAF.

He lies on the hill.

Olga narrates, EVEN GRAHAM RUSHED OVER QUICKLY, WHICH WAS UNHEARD OF.

Graham says, WELL, UM, IF YOU DON'T WANT IT, YOU DON'T MIND IF I HAVE IT, DO YOU? SHAME TO WASTE IT.

[Graham yawning]

Groaning, Noel says, MUST YOU YAWN ALL THE TIME?

Graham says, I'M TIRED.

[Graham yawning]

[Noel groaning]

[Fangio singing]

Elsewhere in the yard, Fangio wanders over to a bush.

Olga narrates, I WAS SO EXHAUSTED, I COULDN'T EVEN EAT.

She remains in the corner of her bedroom.

[Gentle music plays]

In the kitchen, Mr. Sawdust dries a coffee mug. Karen walks in through the back door wearing a red jacket over her school uniform and a grey dress over a yellow polo shirt.

Karen says, I'M WORRIED ABOUT OLGA. SHE STILL HASN'T EATEN ANYTHING.

Mr. Sawdust glances out the window.

He says, HMM. I'LL TAKE HER TO THE VET WHEN YOU'RE AT SCHOOL. JUST TO GET HER CHECKED OVER.

Karen smiles and nods. In town, a person drives down a street.

Olga narrates, AND NEXT THING I KNEW, I WOKE UP IN A ROOM I HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE IN MY LIFE!

A veterinarian with long brown hair and bangs wears blue scrubs. She holds Olga against her chest. The veterinarian gently pets Olga.

Olga narrates, WITH SOMEONE WHO WASN'T A SAWDUST.

[Olga quietly squeaking]

The veterinarian says, WELL, THERE'S NOTHING BROKEN OR ANY BRUISES.

Olga narrates, I'D NEVER HEARD OF "BRUISES" BUT I DIDN'T LIKE THE SOUND OF THEM. NOT ONE BIT.

[Mr. Sawdust sighing]

Mr. Sawdust says, SO, SHE'D BE OKAY?

The veterinarian says, OH, YES. IT'S JUST A BIT OF SHOCK. IT MIGHT TAKE HER A WHILE TO GET BACK ON HER FEET AGAIN.

She passes Olga over to Mr. Sawdust.

The veterinarian says, KEEP HER WARM AND DRY. MAYBE SHE JUST NEEDS SOMETHING TO TAKE HER OUT OF HERSELF.

[Olga squeaking]

Olga narrates, NOW, THAT WAS THE MOST SENSIBLE REMARK I'D HEARD. I FELT SO ACHY, I'D DO ANYTHING TO BE TAKEN OUT OF MYSELF.

[Gentle, joyful music plays]

In an animation, Olga dances among floating carrots and colourful clouds. In the live-action flashback, the veterinarian scratches Olga’s nose.

Olga narrates, THIS PERSON KNEW WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT.

[Olga quietly squeaking]

The veterinarian smiles.

Mr. Sawdust says, COME ON, OLGA.

He gently places Olga in her pet carrier and closes the door.

He says to the veterinarian, THANKS.

The veterinarian smiles. Mr. Sawdust picks up the pet carrier and walks away.

[Olga squeaking]

Back home, in the living room, Karen kneels beside Olga’s pen on the coffee table. Noel stands on the nearby couch and flicks his tail.

[Gentle, cheerful music plays]

Karen feeds Olga a blade of grass through a bar of the pen.

Olga narrates, AND THAT'S WHEN I MOVED INTO THE SAWDUST FAMILY HOUSE.

[Olga nibbling]

[Olga squeaking]

Karen says, I'LL JUST GO AND GET YOU SOME DANDELION LEAVES.

She leaves the room.

[Olga squeaking]

Noel warns, DON'T GET TOO USED TO THIS, YOU KNOW. THIS IS MY HOUSE.

Mr. Sawdust steps into the room.

He says, COME ON, NOEL. YOU CAN'T BE IN HERE WHEN OLGA'S AROUND.

[Olga squeaking]

Mr. Sawdust picks up Noel.

[Noel meowing]

[Mr. Sawdust chuckling]

Mr. Sawdust carries Noel out of the room. At the back door, Noel climbs outside through a cat door.

Noel says, REALLY?

[Noel sighing]

[Noel grunting]

In the house, Olga lies on a pile of grass on a blanket.

Olga narrates, AT FIRST, I WASN'T TOO SURE ABOUT THE WHOLE THING. NOEL MIGHT NOT BE HERE, BUT I WAS SHARING THE ROOM WITH A DOG!

She stares at a draft stopper on the door that looks like a dog.

Olga asks, DON'T YOU KNOW IT'S RUDE TO STARE?

On the couch, Olga sits on a pillow on Karen’s lap.

Olga narrates, BUT I KNEW I WAS OKAY WITH KAREN.

Karen pets Olga.

Karen asks, WHO'S A LOVELY GUINEA PIG?

Olga narrates, DID SHE HAVE TO ASK? ME, OF COURSE!

[Olga squeaking]

[Joyful music plays]

Karen sits between her parents on the couch. On the T.V., they watch two clowns. One clown has rainbow hair and the other has yellow hair. The yellow-haired clown blows up a balloon.

Olga narrates, I DID LIKE THE LARGE BOX IN THE CORNER OF THE ROOM.

[Laughing]

Mrs. Sawdust gently pets Olga. She has long, light brown hair and wears a light green long-sleeved shirt.

[Laughing]

The yellow-haired clown offers the balloon to the rainbow-haired clown. The rainbow-haired reaches for the balloon. The yellow-haired clown lets go of the balloon, and it deflates.

[Mr. Sawdust chuckling]

[Karen giggling]

Mr. Sawdust says, DID YOU SEE THAT?

[Laughing]

[Mr. Sawdust chuckling]

Olga narrates, IT OFTEN LIT UP AND HAD MOVING FIGURES ON IT. SOME THAT EVEN TALKED. THE SAWDUSTS WERE ALWAYS LOOKING AT IT.

Mrs. Sawdust smiles and shakes her head.

[Laughing]

The yellow-haired clown shrugs.

Olga narrates, AND SO WAS I.

Mrs. Sawdust glances at Olga.

She says, WATCHING THE TELEVISION IS JUST THAT THING WHEN YOU'RE NOT FEELING WELL, OLGA. YOU'LL BE UP AND ABOUT IN NO TIME.

Olga narrates, I REALLY HOPED SO.

Mr. Sawdust scratches Olga.

Olga narrates, I WAS GETTING A BIT FED UP SITTING AROUND WAITING TO "COME OUT OF MYSELF."

[Olga squeaking]

[Gentle music plays]

At night, the full moon lights the dark sky.

[Owl hooting]

Olga narrates, IN FACT, I WAS BEGINNING TO WONDER IF IT WOULD EVER HAPPEN.

[Olga squeaking]

Mrs. Sawdust joins Karen in the living room.

[Olga squeaking]

Mrs. Sawdust says, WELL, SHE'S MUCH BRIGHTER.

[Olga squeaking loudly]

Karen says, BUT SHE STILL DOESN'T SEEM HERSELF.

Mrs. Sawdust gives Olga two pieces of spinach.

She says, WE'LL TAKE HER BACK TO THE VET TOMORROW IF NOTHING CHANGES.

Mrs. Sawdust sits beside Karen on the couch and wraps her arm around her. Karen nods. On T.V., a ballerina gracefully leaps across a stage.

[Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy plays]

[Mr. Sawdust gasping]

Mr. Sawdust steps into the room.

He says, BALLET! MY FAVOURITE.

Mrs. Sawdust looks surprised.

[Mr. Sawdust gasping]

Mr. Sawdust watches the ballerina on the T.V. and copies her moves.

[Mr. Sawdust humming]

Karen furrows her brow. Mrs. Sawdust glances at Karen. Karen shrugs.

[Both giggling]

Mr. Sawdust dances like a ballerina.

He says, THE DANCE OF THE SUGARPLUM FAIRY.

[Giggling]

Mr. Sawdust dances across the living room and bows in front of Karen and Mrs. Sawdust.

Olga narrates, THERE WAS A TINY SILVERY FIGURE FLOATING AND JUMPING AND SPINNING IN TIME TO THE MUSIC.

The ballerina continues her dance. Olga watches from her pen.

Olga narrates, IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. I WAS SURE I COULD DO IT, TOO.

[Upbeat, cheerful music plays]

In an animated story, a spotlight follows Olga onto a stage. In a blue tutu, Olga waves. Noel, Fangio and Graham walk onto the stage in matching tutus, and they all dance. Olga twirls and gracefully leaps high in the air.

[Audience cheering]

People throw carrots and dandelions on the stage. Olga picks up the gifts.

[Clapping]

The story ends. In the live-action flashback, Karen and her parents clap. Olga stands on her hind legs with her front paws on the bars of her pen.

Mrs. Sawdust cheers, YAY!

Karen cheers, YAY, OLGA!

Mr. Sawdust cheers, HOORAY, OLGA!

Olga climbs down from the bars.

[Clapping]

Mrs. Sawdust says, YOU DID IT!

Olga narrates, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE SAWDUSTS WERE TALKING ABOUT.

Olga walks over to her food bowl.

Karen says, OLGA! YOU'RE BETTER!

Olga narrates, IT WAS TRUE! I WAS STANDING UP!

She walks over to her pile of leafy greens.

[Mr. Sawdust chuckling]

Olga narrates, NOT ON ONE BACK PAW, NOT ON TWO BACK PAWS, BUT ON ALL FOUR!

She nibbles on a piece of hay.

Olga says, I'VE BEEN TAKEN OUT OF MYSELF AT LAST!

[Mister and Missus Sawdust laughing]

[Olga squeaking loudly]

On a new day, a light wind blows the fabric squares hanging on the fence.

[Gentle music plays]

[Birds chirping]

A bird flies out of the birdhouse on the fence. The sun shines brightly over the Sawdust’s backyard. Olga stands in her hutch.

Olga narrates, AFTER THAT, I MADE A VERY GOOD RECOVERY AND NOW I KNOW THAT THE SKY ISN'T GOING TO FALL DOWN. THUNDERSTORMS DON'T WORRY ME AT ALL.

Olga nibbles on a blade of grass. Noel runs across the yard. Fangio wanders through a patch of white and orange flowers.

Olga narrates, IN FACT, ANY TIME I HEAR A RUMBLE, I PRACTICE THE DANCE OF THE SUGARPLUM GUINEA PIG.

She munches on a piece of hay and grass.

[Olga squeaking]

[Playful music plays]
