[Magical music plays]

In an animation, the sun shines brightly over a field of dandelions. A guinea pig with long brown fur frolics through the grass. In live action, the guinea pig rests in their hutch, a large wooden cage on posts in the Sawdust family’s backyard. Mister and Missus Sawdust stand by a gate in the fence and Karen, a girl with her long brown hair in braided pigtails, runs up to the guinea pig’s hutch with a kite.

[Guinea pig squeaking]

[Cheerful music plays]

The guinea pig sings, I'M A GUINEA PIG SENSATION, WITH A GREAT IMAGINATION. I'M OLGA DA POLGA, THAT'S ME!

Facing Olga’s hutch, Noel, a black cat, lies on the grass with Graham, a tortoise, and Fangio, a hedgehog. Mrs. Sawdust trims a bush. Mr. Sawdust builds a pen. Karen skips across the yard. Olga scratches her ear. Noel swats at Olga from the roof of her hutch.

At the backdoor of the Sawdust’s house, Karen says, BREAKFAST, OLGA!

Olga sings, MY HEAD IS FULL OF STORIES, OF DERRING-DO AND GLORIES, SO GATHER 'ROUND, AND LISTEN TO ME! z

In animations, guinea pigs face a fire-breathing dragon, stand on a podium with first-place medals and look up at a princess locked in a castle.

A crowd cheers, HOORAY!

In live-action, Graham says, AMAZING.

Noel says, RIDICULOUS!

Fangio says, INTERESTING!

[Gentle, cheerful music plays]

On a bench, Karen and Mister and Missus Sawdust pet Olga. At a competition, a person awards Karen and Olga a rosette. In the backyard, Karen puts a carrot in Olga’s food bowl.

Olga sings, OLGA DA POLGA, THAT'S ME!

[Olga squeaking]

Title: Olga da Polga. Based on the books by Michael Bond.

[Gentle music plays]

In live-action, in the Sawdust family’s backyard, the wind gently blows squares of colourful fabric hanging against the back fence. In her hutch, Olga nibbles on a blade of grass. The episode title reads, “The Big Squeak.”

[Birds chirping]

Olga narrates, SINCE LIVING WITH THE SAWDUSTS, I'VE HEARD SO MANY NOISES.

A brown feathered bird with an orange chest perches in a tree.

Olga narrates, LIKE THE BIRDS TWEETING HAPPILY IN THE MORNINGS.

[Brown feathered bird tweeting]

The brown-feathered bird hops to another branch. On the half-stone wall, Noel lies in the shade behind the park bench.

Olga narrates, AND THE NOISE NOEL MAKES WHEN HE'S HAPPY.

[Noel purring]

Olga narrates, BUT THE BEST NOISE, THE MOST DISTINGUISHED OF ALL NOISES, IS THE GUINEA PIG SQUEAK.

[Olga squeaking]

Olga nibbles on more grass.

She narrates, AND I CAN PROVE IT.

[Olga squeaking]

Light gusts of wind blow the trees behind the fence.

[Olga squeaking]

Olga stands on her back paws with her front paws on the fenced wall of her hutch. Graham climbs onto the grass at the end of the ramp on his hutch.

[Graham yawning]

In a pile of moss, dry grass and dry leaves, Fangio raises his snout.

[Fangio snigging]

[Olga squeaking]

Olga narrates, THAT DAY STARTED OUT JUST THE SAME AS ANY OTHER DAY.

In a flashback, Noel climbs out his cat door.

[Noel sighing]

Olga narrates, I WAS HUNGRY, AND LETTING EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT IT.

She stands by the clear door of her hutch.

[Olga squeaking loudly]

Noel climbs down the back steps. Fangio walks through the moss and dry leaves.

[Fangio sniffing]

On the grass, Graham says, COMING, OLGA.

Noel runs up the small hill facing Olga’s hutch.

Noel says, MUST YOU MAKE THAT AWFUL NOISE?

He flicks his tail.

Noel says, SQUEAK, SQUEAK, WEE, WEE. IT SOUNDS SILLY.

[Olga gasping]

Olga narrates, HOW DARE HE? NO ONE CALLS A GUINEA PIG'S SQUEAK SILLY!

She scurries across the hay in her hutch.

Olga says, GUINEA PIGS SQUEAK BECAUSE THEY'VE ALWAYS SQUEAKED. EVER SINCE...

Fangio and Graham rest on the grassy hill with Noel.

Olga continues, EVER SINCE... WE WENT TO THE MOON!

Graham says, WOW.

Noel says, GUINEA PIGS NEVER WENT TO THE MOON. IT'S TOO FAR AWAY.

Olga says, WELL, THAT'S WHERE YOU ARE WRONG. IT WAS THE YEAR 200 B.D. THAT MEANS BEFORE DANDELIONS, WHICH WAS A VERY, VERY LONG TIME AGO.

In an animated story, guinea pigs sleep under the star-filled night sky and full moon. A guinea pig with brown fur nibbles on blades of grass.

Olga narrates, THERE WERE A LOT OF GUINEA PIGS IN THE COUNTRY, PERU, AT THE TIME, AND HARDLY ANY FOOD.

The brown guinea pig frowns at the minimal grass that remains.

Olga narrates, SO, ONE VERY ADVENTUROUS GUINEA PIG DECIDED TO GO TO THE MOON TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY MORE GRASS.

The brown guinea pig glances at the moon and smiles.

Olga narrates, THERE WERE NO ROCKETS BACK THEN, SO IT WAS DECIDED THAT ALL THE GUINEA PIGS WOULD CLIMB ONE ON TOP OF THE OTHER, RIGHT UP TO THE SKY.

The guinea pigs climb on top of each other and form a tower.

Olga narrates, THEY DID THIS ALL NIGHT, UNTIL FINALLY, JUST BEFORE DAWN, THE ADVENTUROUS GUINEA PIG MADE IT UP TO THE TOP!

The adventurous guinea pig, the brown guinea pig, climbs up the tower of guinea pigs and reaches for the moon.

In the live-action flashback, Fangio says, OH, IT MUST HAVE BEEN VERY HIGH.

Noel says, HMM.

Graham asks, WHAT HAPPENED THEN?

Olga says, THEN, DISASTER STRUCK!

[Graham gulping]

In the animated story, a drop of dew hangs off a blade of grass over a guinea pig with light brown fur at the bottom of the guinea pig tower.

Olga narrates, A DROP OF DEW LANDED ON THE GUINEA PIG AT THE BOTTOM'S NOSE.

The drop of dew drips onto the light brown guinea pig’s nose.

Olga narrates, HE TRIED TO SHAKE IT OFF.

The light brown guinea pig shakes his head.

Olga narrates, HE TRIED TO LICK IT AWAY.

The light brown guinea pig reaches for the dew drop with his tongue.

Olga narrates, HE EVEN TRIED TO HOLD HIS BREATH.

The light brown guinea pig closes his eyes and holds his breath.

Olga narrates, BUT IT WAS NO USE. HE SNEEZED. AH-CHOO!

The light brown guinea pig sneezes and jolts the other guinea pigs. The tower of guinea pigs sway from side to side.

[Guinea pigs squeaking]

The adventurous brown guinea pig at the top of the tower falls.

[Guinea pigs squeaking]

The other guinea pigs fall.

Olga continues, AND THEY ALL FELL TO THE GROUND.

The guinea pigs softly bounce onto the ground and the story ends.

[Fangio gasping]

In the live-action flashback, Fangio says, THEY FELL? NO!

Olga says, LUCKILY, NONE OF THEM WERE HURT, BUT IT WAS A NASTY MOMENT. VERY NASTY INDEED.

Graham says, HM, BUT I STILL DON'T SEE WHY GUINEA PIGS GO "WEE."

Olga says, YOU'D GO "WEE" IF YOU FELL ALL THAT WAY! FROM THE MOON!

Fangio walks around a stump beside the grassy hill.

[Fangio sniffing]

[Gentle music continues]

Graham leaves the hill. Noel scratches the back of his neck and walks away. Olga stands on her back paws against the wooden wall of her hutch.

From close by, Karen says, OLGA COULD DO IT!

Olga hops onto her four paws and turns to the clear door on her hutch.

Karen continues, OLGA COULD DO IT BETTER THAN ANYBODY ELSE'S GUINEA PIG!

She walks up to the hutch with her dad. Karen wears her long brown hair in braided pigtails, a red jacket over her purple overalls and a pink long-sleeved shirt with orange polka dots. Mr. Sawdust has dark grey hair, a thick grey beard, and a red plaid button-down shirt over a blue T-shirt. Karen and Mr. Sawdust crouch in front of Olga’s hutch.

Olga narrates, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT KAREN WAS TALKING ABOUT, BUT SHE WAS RIGHT. I COULD DO MOST THINGS BETTER THAN OTHER GUINEA PIGS.

Karen says, THERE'S A BIG SQUEAK FOR ALL THE GUINEA PIGS IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD, TO SEE WHICH GUINEA PIG HAS THE LOUDEST SQUEAK!

Olga scurries across her hutch.

She narrates, WELL, THERE WAS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND WHO THAT WOULD BE!

Olga stands against the fenced wall of her hutch.

[Olga squeaking loudly]

Mr. Sawdust says, SHE KEEPS THAT UP, WE'RE HOME AND DRY.

Mrs. Sawdust crouches beside Karen. She has long, light brown hair and a light green long-sleeved shirt.

[Olga squeaking]

Olga drops onto four paws.

She narrates, SHOW ME THE WAY!

[Gentle music plays]

In a field, the window gently blows thin branches on a tree.

[Bleating]

Drivers pass each other on a street. Outside a hall, adults and children stand in a line with pet carriers. A chalkboard sign reads, “The Big Squeak Today!”

[Chatter]

[Giggling]

Karen walks around a tree with her mum. Mrs. Sawdust wears a beige jacket and carries a yellow purse.

Karen says, THE BIG SQUEAK!

Mrs. Sawdust says, THE BIG SQUEAK. YEAH.

Mr. Sawdust follows Karen and Mrs. Sawdust with Olga’s carrier.

Mrs. Sawdust asks, DO YOU THINK OLGA'S GOING TO WIN IT?

Karen says, DEFINITELY.

[Mrs. Sawdust chuckling]

The Sawdust family walk down a path toward a line of people with pet carriers standing under a train bridge.

Olga narrates, AND THAT'S HOW I ENDED UP IN A PET CARRIER, HEADING TO THE BIG SQUEAK COMPETITION!

In the pet carrier, Olga lies in a pile of hay.

Karen says, I FEEL SORRY FOR THE OTHER GUINEA PIGS. THEY WON'T STAND A CHANCE.

Olga narrates, I KNOW. SUCH A SHAME.

Mr. Sawdust looks up the path.

He says, AH, NO. THERE'S A QUEUE TO GET IN.

Mrs. Sawdust says, I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE BUSY. WE SHOULD HAVE COME EARLIER.

Mr. Sawdust nods.

Olga narrates, THAT GAVE ME A CHANCE TO EYE UP THE COMPETITION.

[Whooshing]

A train races down the tracks and across the bridge.

[Olga squeaking]

Olga turns to the back of her carrier.

Karen says, IT'S OKAY, OLGA. IT'S ONLY A TRAIN.

Mr. Sawdust says, YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY, THOUGH. WHEN YOU HEAR A TRAIN, IT'S BAD LUCK TO SAY ANYTHING AGAIN UNTIL SOMEBODY ASKS YOU A QUESTION. THE MORE TRAINS THAT GO PAST, THE MORE QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO BE ASKED.

Karen smiles and shakes her head.

Olga narrates, BAD LUCK? NOT IF I COULD HELP IT.

[Train clanking]

Karen says, CHOO-CHOO!

[Mrs. Sawdust laughing]

Olga narrates, KAREN FOUND THE TRAINS FUNNY, BUT AFTER TWO MORE TRAINS WENT OVER, I WAS GETTING MORE THAN A LITTLE WORRIED.

At the front of the line, people walk into the hall with their pets.

Mr. Sawdust says, AH, AT LAST. THEY'RE LETTING US IN.

Olga narrates, BY THE TIME WE STARTED MOVING AGAIN, I COUNTED THREE TRAINS, WHICH MEANT I NEEDED TO BE ASKED THREE QUESTIONS BEFORE I COULD SPEAK!

Karen skips down the path, holding her mum’s hand.

Karen says, WE'RE ALL READY FOR THE BIG SQUEAK!

Mister and Missus Sawdust cheer, YAY!

[Karen imitating guinea pig squeaks]

The Sawdust family follows the line to the hall.

Olga narrates, ON A DAY I WAS MEANT TO BE SQUEAKING LOUDER THAN EVER!

Inside, a guinea pig nibbles on a green leaf.

[Guinea pigs squeaking]

Karen walks inside with her parents. A guinea pig drinks from its water bottle. Decorations hang from the ceiling. People walk around tables of guinea pigs in cube cages. Three rosette ribbons hang on a board on a registration table.

[Squeaking continues]

Karen says, LISTEN TO ALL THOSE GUINEA PIGS, OLGA.

Mrs. Sawdust says, SHE'S VERY QUIET.

Karen says, I HOPE SHE HASN'T LOST HER VOICE.

Mr. Sawdust says, OH, OF COURSE SHE HASN'T. LET'S PUT HER DOWN HERE AND WE'LL GET A NUMBER.

Karen nods. Mr. Sawdust puts Olga’s carrier on a table next to a cage. On the table across from Olga, a name tag on a guinea pig’s cage reads, “Star.” Star has thick light and dark brown fur and a strip of white fur on their nose. The Sawdust family walks to the registration table at the back of the room.

Star says, I SEE YOU'RE HERE FOR THE SQUEAK THING, TOO.

Olga stays silent.

[Chatter]

Star says, I'VE BEEN PRACTICING.

A guinea pig with black, white and red fur lies on a towel in a corner of its cage.

Star says, A LOT.

At the registration table, Karen writes on a name card.

Star says, AND IT LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVEN'T.

[Star laughing]

Star says, I'M GOING TO WIN THIS.

The guinea pig with black, white and red fur looks through the bars of its cage.

Olga narrates, THAT DID IT! I COULD OUT-SQUEAK ANYONE IN THE PLACE IF I WAS ALLOWED TO. I JUST NEEDED THE SAWDUSTS TO ASK ME QUESTIONS FIRST.

Mr. Sawdust walks over to Olga’s pet carrier.

He says, COME ON, OLGA.

Mr. Sawdust opens and reaches inside Olga’s carrier. Karen finishes writing Olga’s name on the name card. Mr. Sawdust gently lowers Olga onto a pile of hay in the cube cage beside her carrier.

Mr. Sawdust says, THERE WE GO.

Olga looks around. Karen puts Olga’s name tag in front of the cage.

[Guinea pigs squeaking]

Mister and Missus Sawdust look across the room. A judge with long, wavy brown hair is wearing a white lab coat over a purple blouse and holding a clipboard. She lowers her ear toward a black-haired guinea pig.

The judge says, THAT'S A NICE SQUEAK.

She makes a note on the clipboard.

Olga narrates, I JUST HAD TO GET KAREN'S ATTENTION.

Karen watches the judge. Olga kicks a handful of hay out of her cage. The hay lands at Karen’s feet.

Star says, LOOK, EVERYONE. WE'VE GOT A TROUBLEMAKER.

The guinea pig with black, white and red fur says, OOH!

[Rustling]

Olga kicks out more hay.

Olga narrates, EVEN IF IT MEANT KICKING OUT ALL MY HAY!

[Rustling]

Karen turns to Olga’s cage.

She says, OLGA!

Karen looks worried.

She asks, DID YOU HURT YOURSELF?

Olga narrates, THE ONLY THING THAT WAS HURT WAS MY PRIDE.

Mr. Sawdust digs Olga out of the hay and lifts her out of the cage.

Olga narrates, I NEVER LOOKED SO UNDIGNIFIED, BUT AT LEAST THAT WAS ONE QUESTION.

Mr. Sawdust passes Olga to Karen. Karen holds Olga against her chest and turns to face the judge. The judge lifts Star out of his cage.

[Star squeaking]

The judge smiles and gently pets Star.

Karen says, IT'S THE HEAD JUDGE.

[Star squeaking]

The head judge says WELL, THAT'S A FINE SOUND!

She glances toward Star’s owners. The head judge smiles and returns Star to his cage.

Star says, TA, LOVE. IT'S IN THE BAG.

Karen says, PLEASE SQUEAK, OLGA! PLEASE! WE'RE NEXT.

Olga narrates, I FELT VERY BAD. I WAS GOING TO LET KAREN DOWN! AND THEN…

The head judge walks over to Karen and Olga.

The head judge says, OUR FINAL CONTESTANT. WHO DO WE HAVE HERE?

Olga narrates, TWO QUESTIONS. ONLY ONE QUESTION LEFT!

Mrs. Sawdust says, SAY HELLO TO THE JUDGE, OLGA.

Mr. Sawdust says, THERE'S A CARROT IN IT FOR YOU.

He holds up a carrot and says, SQUEAKY-SQUEAK-SQUEAK.

The head judge says, AH, HE'S A QUIET ONE. NEVER MIND.

She gently taps Olga. Mr. Sawdust purses his lips.

Karen asks, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU, OLGA?

Olga narrates, THREE QUESTIONS! WELL, THAT WAS IT. HE? QUIET? I'VE NEVER BEEN SO INSULTED.

[Olga squeaking loudly]

Mr. Sawdust looks at Mrs. Sawdust, and they share a look of surprise.

Star says, WHAT THE –

[Olga squeaking loudly]

Karen grins. The head judge turns away from Star’s cage and looks at Olga.

The head judge asks, WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?

Olga narrates, I HAD SAVED MY VOICE FOR JUST THE RIGHT MOMENT.

The head judge says, WELL, I THINK WE HAVE OUR WINNER.

[Applause]

The head judge awards Karen a yellow rosette.

[Olga squeaking]

Mrs. Sawdust claps and says, WELL DONE, OLGA.

Karen says, YOU DID IT, OLGA!

Olga narrates, WELL, OF COURSE I HAD!

[Olga squeaking]

Star says, DIDN'T WANT TO WIN THIS SILLY COMPETITION ANYWAY.

He turns his back to Olga. Back home in the Sawdust family’s backyard, a bird flies away from a birdhouse on the back fence.

[Gentle music plays]

Graham lies on the door of his hutch. Fangio weaves around flower pots.

[Fangio singing]

Noel runs up the hill facing Olga’s hutch.

Olga narrates, I TOLD NOEL ALL ABOUT MY AWARD-WINNING SQUEAK, AND HE NEVER CALLED IT SILLY AGAIN.

[Olga squeaking]

Olga narrates, IT'S JUST AS WELL THAT ADVENTUROUS GUINEA PIG ONCE TRIED TO MAKE IT TO THE MOON. ISN'T IT?

[Playful music plays]
