[Magical music plays]

In an animation, the sun shines brightly over a field of dandelions. A guinea pig with long brown fur frolics through the grass. In live action, the guinea pig rests in their hutch, a large wooden cage on posts in the Sawdust family’s backyard. Mister and Missus Sawdust stand by a gate in the fence and Karen, a girl with her long brown hair in braided pigtails, runs up to the guinea pig’s hutch with a kite.

[Guinea pig squeaking]

[Cheerful music plays]

The guinea pig sings, I'M A GUINEA PIG SENSATION, WITH A GREAT IMAGINATION. I'M OLGA DA POLGA, THAT'S ME!

Facing Olga’s hutch, Noel, a black cat, lies on the grass with Graham, a tortoise, and Fangio, a hedgehog. Mrs. Sawdust trims a bush. Mr. Sawdust builds a pen. Karen skips across the yard. Olga scratches her ear. Noel swats at Olga from the roof of her hutch.

At the backdoor of the Sawdust’s house, Karen says, BREAKFAST, OLGA!

Olga sings, MY HEAD IS FULL OF STORIES, OF DERRING-DO AND GLORIES, SO GATHER 'ROUND, AND LISTEN TO ME!

In animations, guinea pigs face a fire-breathing dragon, stand on a podium with first-place medals and look up at a princess locked in a castle.

A crowd cheers, HOORAY!

In live-action, Graham says, AMAZING.

Noel says, RIDICULOUS!

Fangio says, INTERESTING!

[Gentle, cheerful music plays]

On a bench, Karen and Mister and Missus Sawdust pet Olga. At a competition, a person awards Karen and Olga a rosette. In the backyard, Karen puts a carrot in Olga’s food bowl.

Olga sings, OLGA DA POLGA, THAT'S ME!

[Olga squeaking]

Title: Olga da Polga. Based on the books by Michael Bond.

[Gentle music plays]

In live-action, in the Sawdust family’s backyard, a bird flies out of a birdhouse on the fence. The episode title reads, “Some New Arrivals.”

[Birds chirping]

In her hutch, Olga nibbles on blades of grass.

Olga narrates, SINCE COMING TO LIVE WITH THE SAWDUST FAMILY, I'VE MADE LOTS OF FRIENDS. GRAHAM.

Graham walks through the grass.

Olga narrates, FANGIO.

Fangio lies in a pile of moss, dry leaves and dry grass.

[Fangio humming]

Olga narrates, AND EVEN NOEL.

Noel rolls on his back and wrestles with a pile of purple yarn.

Olga narrates, BUT THERE ARE SOME OTHER FRIENDS I'VE MADE, TOO. WHAT YOU MIGHT CALL SCHOOL FRIENDS.

In a field, dark clouds fill the sky.

[Sheep bleating]

Olga narrates, IT WAS THE START OF SOMETHING CALLED "THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS."

In a live-action flashback, at school, Karen carries a small cage covered with a hand towel outside. Her mum walks beside her. Karen wears her long brown hair in braided pigtails and a red jacket over her school uniform, a grey dress over a yellow polo shirt. Mrs. Sawdust wears a light brown jacket over her blue suit and pink and green scarf.

Mrs. Sawdust says, WE'LL STOP OFF AT THE PET SHOP, GET SOME FOOD FOR OUR NEW GUESTS.

Karen says, I CAN'T WAIT TO BRING THEM HOME.

Mrs. Sawdust smiles. Two other students follow Karen and Mrs. Sawdust into the parking lot.

[Gentle music plays]

In the Sawdust’s backyard, Noel leaps down from his spot on the stone half-fence. Olga lies by the door of her hutch.

Olga narrates, I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE TIME WITH KAREN.

She nibbles on a blade of grass.

Olga cheers, YIPPEE!

Karen walks through the back gate with her mum and the small cage in her arms.

Olga narrates, KAREN! OVER HERE!

Mrs. Sawdust closes the gate.

[Gate clicking shut]

Karen says, SEE YOU SOON, OLGA. I'VE GOT A BIG SURPRISE FOR YOU!

She walks toward the back door with Mrs. Sawdust.

Olga narrates, OH, A BIG SURPRISE. FOR ME! I COULD ONLY IMAGINE WHAT IT MIGHT BE. A NEW BED PERHAPS?

In an animation, Olga imagines curtains opening. Behind the curtains, Olga lies against a pillow under a blue and yellow polka dot blanket.

[Curtains rustling]

Olga narrates, A FANCY BATH?

Olga sits in a bathtub full of bubbles.

[Bubbling]

Olga narrates, OR MAYBE EVEN A YEAR'S SUPPLY OF CARROTS!

Carrots pile around Olga. Olga bites the end of a carrot.

[Carrot crunching]

[Olga munching]

Olga narrates, MM!

In the live-action flashback, Olga nibbles on blades of grass in her hutch.

Olga narrates, I WAS STILL MULLING IT OVER WHEN NOEL CAME FLYING OUT OF THE HOUSE IN A VERY EXCITED STATE.

Noel climbs through his cat door and down the back steps. He leaps across the stone patio with Olga’s hutch.

[Noel meowing]

Noel says, HAVE I GOT A SURPRISE FOR YOU.

Graham lies on the grass. On the small hill facing Olga’s hutch, Fangio raises his snout and sniffs the air.

[Sniffing]

Olga says, I KNOW, KAREN TOLD ME.

Noel lies in a patch of sun on the hill in front of Olga’s hutch.

He says, SO, YOU KNOW ALL ABOUT THE NEW ARRIVALS THEN?

Olga asks, NEW ARRIVALS?

[Graham yawning]

Noel says, THEY'RE CALLED FIRCONE AND RAISIN. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE, AS I CAN'T GET A GOOD VIEW, BUT I KNOW WHERE THEY ARE.

Noel turns his head toward the house.

He says, IN KAREN'S BEDROOM.

[Olga gasping]

Olga narrates, I WAS SHOCKED. ALTHOUGH I'D BEEN IN KAREN'S BEDROOM SOMETIMES, I'D NEVER BEEN INVITED TO LIVE THERE.

Noel says, I WASN'T EVEN ALLOWED A PROPER LOOK. KAREN SHUT THE DOOR AS SOON AS I PUT MY HEAD AROUND IT.

Olga stuffs her cheeks with blades of grass.

She narrates, IT WAS A BIT UNSETTLING. THE VERY IDEA OF NEW ARRIVALS TAKING UP KAREN'S TIME MADE THE GRASS TASTE FUNNY.

Olga turns toward Noel.

She narrates, I HAD TO FIND OUT MORE!

Out loud, Olga says, NOEL, YOU CAN CLIMB UP TO KAREN'S BEDROOM WINDOW, CAN'T YOU?

[Noel sighing]

Noel says, OF COURSE.

Olga says, SO, YOU COULD FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE NEW ARRIVALS, COULDN'T YOU? BEING SUCH A CLEVER CAT.

Noel says, WELL, WHEN YOU PUT IT LIKE THAT. LEAVE IT WITH ME.

He turns around and leaves. Noel runs back up the steps and climbs through the cat door into the house.

[Gentle music plays]

The light wind gently blows squares of colourful fabric hanging against the back fence.

[Birds chirping]

Fangio climbs across fallen leaves and patches of moss.

[Fangio singing]

Graham lies on a pile of hay in his hutch with a leaf of lettuce on his door. On top of a small firewood storage shed, Noel looks through a window into Karen’s bedroom.

Olga narrates, OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS, NOEL PASSED ME SNIPPETS OF INFORMATION.

She stands on her back paws with her front paws against a fenced wall in her hutch beside the door. Noel jumps down from the firewood shed. He runs over to the small hill in front of Olga’s hutch.

Noel quietly says, THEIR HOME IS A SPLENDID AFFAIR, LIKE A PALACE.

Olga nibbles on a piece of dandelion leaf.

[Munching]

In his hutch, Graham says, AMAZING.

Noel climbs to the top of the hill.

He says, THEY USE SHREDDED PAPER TO MAKE A BED.

Mr. Sawdust steps outside.

He calls out, NOEL! NOEL!

Noel looks over his shoulder toward the house.

Mr. Sawdust says, DINNER!

He turns back to the house.

Noel says, THEIR FAVOURITE TREAT IS APPLE.

Olga says, APPLES?!

Fangio says, MM, I PREFER WORMS.

Noel flicks his tail.

Olga narrates, BUT HE STILL HADN'T GOT CLOSE ENOUGH TO SEE THEM.

She looks toward her clear door with a view of Karen’s bedroom window.

Olga narrates, AND NEITHER COULD I.

[Olga squeaking]

Olga scurries into her hay-filled bedroom.

[Light, cheerful music plays]

The sun shines brightly over pink leaves in a tree.

[Birds chirping]

In the backyard, Mrs. Sawdust sits in a lawn chair with a glass. She wears sunglasses and a long-sleeved green shirt.

Karen says, OH, SHE'S SO CUTE.

Maddie says, SHE'S SO FLUFFY!

Karen says, OH, LOOK AT THE LITTLE WHISKERS.

Maddie says, SHE'S SO CUTE.

Karen and Maddie look inside Olga’s hutch. Maddie has shoulder-length brown hair and wears a yellow long-sleeved shirt. Karen wears purple overalls over a pink long-sleeved shirt with orange polka dots. Maddie and Karen watch Olga nibble on blades of grass.

Maddie asks, CAN WE SEE FIRCONE AND RAISIN?

Karen says, SURE. BACK SOON, OLGA.

Olga narrates sadly, I WAS STARTING TO WORRY I WASN'T KAREN'S FAVOURITE ANYMORE.

Karen and Maddie run across the yard.

[Olga squeaking]

[Gentle music plays]

Fangio sniffs around the compost pile in a corner of the yard.

[Fangio sniffing]

Fangio climbs over a log lining the pile.

Olga narrates, THE FINAL STRAW CAME THE VERY NEXT DAY.

She nibbles on a blade of grass in her pen. Karen leans through a slot in the roof of the pen.

Karen says, BREAKFAST.

She puts Olga’s bowl of leafy greens and baby carrots in the pen.

[Olga squeaking]

Olga sticks her snout in the food. Mrs. Sawdust leans toward the pen.

Mrs. Sawdust says, COME ON, LET'S WALK TO THE PET SHOP. GET SOME EXERCISE.

Karen says, SEE YOU LATER, OLGA.

She closes the slot in the pen.

Karen says, WE NEED TO GET SOME FOOD FOR FIRCONE AND RAISIN.

Mrs. Sawdust says, REMEMBER, WE NEED TO GET SOME HAY FOR OLGA, TOO.

Karen says, I'LL TRY.

She holds her mum’s hand, and they walk toward the gate.

[Dramatic music plays]

[Olga squeaking]

Olga narrates, TRY? I'LL TRY?! THAT WAS IT! I DIDN'T KNOW HOW, BUT I HAD TO GET FIRCONE AND RAISIN OUT OF THE SAWDUST HOUSE!

Olga nibbles on a dandelion leaf in her food bowl.

[Gentle music plays]

A butterfly flies away from a flower with purple petals. Fangio wanders around a flower pot.

[Fangio singing]

Graham climbs over a flat rock. Graham and Fangio stand on the hill facing Olga’s hutch.

Olga says, WE NEED TO COME UP WITH A PLAN.

Fangio says, WELL, I'M IN, BUT HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO IT?

Graham says, YEAH, WE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY ARE.

From close by, Noel says, MEOW!

He climbs down the back steps.

Olga narrates, THAT'S WHEN, FOR THE SECOND TIME IN A WEEK, NOEL CAME FLYING OUT THE KITCHEN DOOR.

Noel runs onto the stone patio with Olga’s hutch.

Olga narrates, BUT THIS TIME, HE SEEMED DIFFERENT.

Noel lies in the patch of sun on the small hill facing Olga’s hutch.

He says, WELL, THAT'S THE LAST TIME I'M HELPING YOU.

Olga asks, WHY? WHAT HAPPENED?

Noel says, I SLIPPED INTO KAREN'S BEDROOM TO TRY TO GET A GLIMPSE OF FIRCONE AND RAISIN, AND AS I WAS HAVING A SNIFF…

Fangio raises his snout and sniffs the air.

[Fangio sniffing]

Noel says, …SOMETHING NIBBLED MY NOSE!

Olga says, I DIDN'T THINK LITTLE THINGS LIKE THAT WOULD GET THE BETTER OF YOU, NOEL.

[Fangio laughing]

[Graham chuckling]

Noel says, LITTLE THINGS? WHO SAYS THEY ARE LITTLE THINGS?

Olga narrates, SOMEHOW, FOR NO OTHER REASON THAN THEIR NAMES, I'D ALWAYS PICTURED THEM AS BEING SMALL.

Fangio asks, JUST HOW BIG ARE THEY?

Noel says, WELL, I'M NOT SAYING HOW BIG THEY ARE, BUT I WOULDN'T WANT TO BE ONE OF YOU IF THEY GOT OUT.

Graham says, HUH…

[Fangio gasping]

Olga says, OOH!

Noel says, FROM THAT NIBBLE ON MY NOSE, I'D SAY THEY HAVE TEETH AS BIG AS CELERY STICKS AND WHISKERS ARE THICK AS... AS... AS…

[Graham gulping]

Noel says, …DANDELION LEAVES!

Olga eats a dandelion leaf.

She narrates, I'D SUDDENLY LOST MY APPETITE.

The dandelion leaf drops from her mouth. In an animated story, Olga smiles inside her hutch. The shadow of a large creature blocks the sun.

The creature says, OH. LOOK, RAISIN.

The creature, Fircone, is a giant purple rodent with a white mohawk, large teeth, giant whiskers and a large white spot on its back. Raisin, a similar pink rodent with two white spots on its back, stands beside Fircone.

Fircone says, A LOVELY LITTLE GUINEA PIG.

Raisin says, OH, MY FAVOURITE, FIRCONE.

Raisin licks its lips.

[Raisin and Fircone chuckling]

Olga wails, NO!

[Olga squeaking]

The story ends.

[Olga squeaking]

In the live-action flashback, Noel asks, ARE YOU ALRIGHT?

Olga says, I'M ALRIGHT. COURSE I'M ALRIGHT.

She stands in a corner of her hutch.

Olga narrates, BUT IF WHAT NOEL WAS SAYING WAS TRUE, THERE WAS NO WAY I COULD GET RID OF FIRCONE AND RAISIN. THEY WERE HERE FOREVER!

[Dramatic music plays]

[Fangio gasping]

Fangio says, WELL, I'M OFF.

Graham says, ME, TOO.

Fangio crawls over moss and fallen leaves.

[Fangio sniffing]

Noel says, IN FACT, IF YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW HOW BIG THEY ARE…

He looks over his shoulder.

Noel asks, CAN YOU SEE THAT BUSH OVER THERE?

He looks toward a row of tall bushes lining the fence.

Olga narrates, IF NOEL WAS EXPECTING A REPLY, HE'D BE DISAPPOINTED, AS SOMETHING ELSE HAD CAUGHT MY EYE.

Karen walks out of the house with a small cage. She carries the cage to Olga’s hutch across the yard and sets it on a stool.

Karen says, I'M SORRY YOU HAVEN'T GOT TO MEET THEM BEFORE, OLGA. THEY WERE A BIT SCARED.

Olga narrates, SCARED? IF ANYONE SHOULD BE SCARED, IT WAS ME. I COULD HARDLY LOOK.

[Squeaking]

Karen says, FIRCONE, RAISIN. SURPRISE!

Fircone and Rasin, mice, scurry around shredded paper in their cage.

[Fircone and Rasin squeaking]

Olga narrates, IT WAS A SURPRISE! THEY WEREN'T ANYTHING LIKE NOEL HAD SAID. THEY WERE TINY! NO BIGGER THAN A SMALL-SIZED CARROT.

Karen says, SAY HELLO TO OLGA.

[Fircone and Rasin squeaking]

One of the mice sticks its head in the shredded paper.

Olga narrates, I WAS IMPRESSED. ANYONE WHO WAS SO SMALL AND COULD STICK UP FOR THEMSELVES WITH NOEL MUST BE GOOD. I DECIDED THERE AND THEN I LIKED THEM.

[Olga squeaking]

[Fircone and Rasin squeaking]

Karen says, AREN'T THEY CUTE? AND SO TINY.

She looks in the cage.

Olga whispers, WHAT WAS THAT YOU WERE SAYING ABOUT THE BUSH, NOEL?

[Noel clearing his throat]

Noel says, NOTHING.

He flicks his tail. Fircone and Rasin stand on a wheel in their cage.

[Fircone and Rasin squeaking]

[Gentle music plays]

Noel leaves his spot on the hill. Fangio walks around the boxed vegetable gardens.

[Fangio singing]

Graham crawls across the grass. Noel lies on top of Olga’s hutch.

Olga narrates, FIRCONE AND RAISIN ONLY STAYED FOR THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS, BUT THEY STILL VISIT FROM TIME TO TIME, AND NOEL STAYS WELL OUT OF THE WAY.

Noel leans over the hutch and peaks inside. Olga nibbles on a blade of grass. Noel leaps off the hutch and runs across the yard.
