Transcript: Olga's Holiday
[Magical music plays]
In an animation, the sun shines brightly over a field of dandelions. A guinea pig with long brown fur frolics through the grass. In live action, the guinea pig rests in their hutch, a large wooden cage on posts in the Sawdust family’s backyard. Mr. and Mrs. Sawdust stand by a gate in the fence, and Karen, a girl with long brown hair in braided pigtails, runs up to the hutch with a kite.
[Guinea pig squeaking]
[Cheerful music plays]
The guinea pig sings, I'M A GUINEA PIG SENSATION WITH A GREAT IMAGINATION. I'M OLGA DA POLGA, THAT'S ME!
Facing Olga’s hutch, Noel, a black cat, lies on a small grassy hill with Graham, a small tortoise, and Fangio, a hedgehog. Mrs. Sawdust trims a bush. Mr. Sawdust builds a pen. Karen skips across the yard. Olga nibbles on a blade of grass beside Daisy, a black and white guinea pig. Noel swats at Olga from the roof of the hutch.
At the back door of the Sawdust’s house, Karen says, OLGA! DAISY! SNACKS!
Olga sings, MY HEAD IS FULL OF STORIES, OF DERRING-DO AND GLORIES, SO GATHER 'ROUND, AND LISTEN TO ME!
In animations, different guinea pigs face a fire-breathing dragon, stand on a podium with first-place medals and look up at a princess locked in a castle.
A crowd cheers, HOORAY!
In live-action, Graham says, AMAZING.
Noel says, RIDICULOUS!
Fangio says, INTERESTING!
Daisy says, OH!
[Gentle, cheerful music plays]

[Noel meowing]
Olga narrates, I LOVE TELLING STORIES. TALL ONES, SMALL ONES, LONG ONES, SHORT ONES.
In the guinea pig hutch, Olga peeks out of the bedroom.
Olga narrates, ESPECIALLY, WHEN I HAVE AN AUDIENCE.
Noel lies on the stone patio in front of the hutch.
He grumbles, HMM.
Graham lies on the grassy hill facing the hutch.
[Graham grunting]
Fangio raises his snout and his nose twitches.
[Fangio singing]
Behind a pile of grass and hay in the hutch, Olga nibbles on a blade of grass.
Olga narrates, I USED TO THINK NO ONE COULD TELL A STORY QUITE LIKE ME.
Olga scurries across the hutch.
She narrates, UNTIL THE WEEKEND, I MET A GUINEA PIG PRINCE ON HOLIDAY.
[Light, cheerful music plays]
Light wind blows the pieces of colourful fabric hanging against the back fence. A toad rests on a rock beside a small pond. Olga lies by the window of the hutch.
Olga narrates, IT WAS AN UNUSUAL DAY AND THE SAWDUSTS HAD BEEN UP B-G-P. THAT MEANS "BEFORE GUINEA PIGS."
In a flashback, Karen sits on an overflowing suitcase in the Sawdust's living room. Mr. Sawdust struggles to zip the suitcase closed. Karen wears her long brown hair in braided pigtails, an orange and pink striped, long-sleeved shirt, and purple shorts with red sneakers. Mr. Sawdust has short, dark grey hair and a thick grey beard and wears a dark purple, short-sleeved button-down shirt unbuttoned over a blue T-shirt with black shorts and a straw hat.
[Mr. Sawdust groaning]
Mr. Sawdust says, WE'RE NEARLY THERE.
[Mr. Sawdust grunting]
Mr. Sawdust stuffs clothes spilling out of the suitcase back in, and zips the suitcase closed.
He says, DONE.
[Karen sighing]
Mr. Sawdust says, PHEW.
Mrs. Sawdust walks in with raincoats. Mrs. Sawdust has long, light brown hair and wears a light green, short-sleeved button-down shirt unbuttoned over a blue and white striped T-shirt with white pants.
Mrs. Sawdust says, DON'T FORGET THE RAINCOATS.
[Mr. Sawdust sighing]
Mr. Sawdust glances at his clothes.
He asks, DO WE REALLY NEED THEM?
Mrs. Sawdust says, WE'RE GOING TO THE SEASIDE IN SCOTLAND.
Karen says, IT'LL DEFINITELY RAIN, DAD.
Mr. Sawdust says, TRUE.
Karen climbs off the suitcase.
Mr. Sawdust says, I'LL POP THEM IN THE CAR.
Mrs. Sawdust sits on the couch armrest and puts her arm around Karen.
Mr. Sawdust says, NOW, HAVE WE GOT EVERYTHING WE NEED?
Karen says, WE NEED THE GUINEA PIG CARRIER FOR OLGA AND DAISY.
Mrs. Sawdust says, REMEMBER, THEY'RE GOING ON THE MINI BREAK, TOO.
Karen says, THEY'LL BE ABLE TO MEET COUSIN CALLUM'S GUINEA PIGS.
Mr. Sawdust says, RIGHT. I'LL JUST GO AND GET IT.
He stands and drags the suitcase off the couch.
[Mr. Sawdust grunting]
Mrs. Sawdust holds out the raincoats.
[Mr. Sawdust groaning]
Mr. Sawdust grabs the raincoats and carries them out of the room with the suitcase.
[Mr. Sawdust grunting]
[Karen giggling]
[Mrs. Sawdust laughing]
[Gentle music plays]
Noel leaves his place on a chair. Outside, he lies on the grassy hill with Graham and Fangio.
Olga narrates, OUT IN THE GARDEN, I WAS TELLING EVERYONE THAT CARED TO LISTEN ABOUT OUR EXCITING TRIP.
In the hutch, Olga nibbles on a blade of grass. Daisy lies in the bedroom doorway.
[Graham grunting]
Fangio sniffs the air.
[Fangio sniffing]
Olga asks, HAVE I TOLD YOU THE SAWDUSTS ARE TAKING US ON HOLIDAY TO THE SEASIDE?
Noel says, JUST ABOUT A HUNDRED TIMES.
Fangio asks, WHAT'S THE SEASIDE?
Olga says, IT'S A PLACE SAWDUST PEOPLE GO TO AND VERY SPECIAL PETS. THERE ARE OTHER GUINEA PIGS THERE, TOO.
Graham says, I WISH I WAS GOING TO THE SEASIDE.
Noel says, WELL, I DON'T. AND AS FOR MORE GUINEA PIGS…
[Noel groaning]
Noel says, …I'D RATHER STAY HERE WITH THE PET SITTER.
Olga stands by the food bowl.
She says, REALLY, NOEL! WHERE'S YOUR SENSE OF ADVENTURE?
Noel grumbles, HMM.
He walks away.
[Door opening and closing]
Karen, Mr. and Mrs. Sawdust step outside and look around.
[All sighing in content]
Mrs. Sawdust says, NOT A BAD DAY FOR THE DRIVE.
Mr. Sawdust says, I HOPE IT STAYS DRY FOR THE WEEKEND. WE CAN GO TO THE BEACH!
Karen cheers, YES!
[Mrs. Sawdust laughing]
[Mr. Sawdust chuckling]
Mrs. Sawdust slides sunglasses over her head. Mr. Sawdust grabs the suitcase and follows Karen down the back steps with Mrs. Sawdust.
Karen sings, WE'RE GOING TO THE BEACH!
She skips across the yard to the guinea pig hutch.
Karen says, OLGA! DAISY! WE'RE GOING TO THE BEACH.
She leans forward and looks inside the hutch.
Karen says, OLGA! DAISY! ARE YOU READY FOR THE TRIP?
Mr. and Mrs. Sawdust join Karen. Olga nibbles on a long blade of grass.
Olga narrates, I CERTAINLY WAS. BUT DAISY HADN'T EVEN GOT OUT OF HER HAY YET.
Daisy nestles into her pile of hay.
[Daisy squeaking]
[Mr. Sawdust chuckling]
Mr. Sawdust says, THAT'S THE SPIRIT, OLGA. ALL THAT SEA AIR TICKLING YOUR WHISKERS. THEY'LL MAKE A NEW ANIMAL OUT OF YOU.
Olga narrates, WELL, REALLY! I WAS PERFECTLY HAPPY AS A GUINEA PIG. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Mr. Sawdust says, COME ON. LET'S GET OLGA AND DAISY INTO THEIR CARRIERS AND GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD.
Mrs. Sawdust nods.
[Light, bright music plays]
Mr. and Mrs. Sawdust step away from the hutch. Karen runs toward the shed.
[Karen giggling]
Elsewhere in the yard, Fangio sniffs the air.
[Sniffing]
Later in the day, Mr. Sawdust backs out of the driveway and drives away. On a beach, people walk across the sand. Waves ripple toward the shore.
[Seagulls squawking]
Olga narrates, AND BEFORE I KNEW IT, WE HAD ARRIVED!
In her pet carrier, Olga stands against the door.
In a driveway, Mrs. Sawdust says, WE'RE HERE!
She gets out of the car. Mr. Sawdust climbs out and stretches his arms.
[Mr. Sawdust inhaling deeply]
Mr. Sawdust says, SMELL THAT SEA AIR.
[Mr. Sawdust sighing]
[Seagulls squawking]
Karen runs around the car. The wind blows tall grass near the beach.
Olga narrates, IT DID FEEL NICE ON MY WHISKERS, BUT I WAS PLEASED TO SEE IT HADN'T CHANGED ME INTO A NEW ANIMAL. I WAS STILL VERY MUCH A GUINEA PIG.
Daisy lies beside Olga in the hay-lined pet carrier. At the house, a boy with short brown hair runs down a set of stairs. He wears a white, short-sleeved, button-down shirt and green shorts.
Karen says, CALLUM!
Calum says, KAREN!
Karen holds the pet carrier. Calum meets her in the driveway.
Calum says, COME AND SEE MY GUINEA PIGS!
Karen follows Calum across the driveway.
Olga narrates, WE'RE ON HOLIDAY!
Mrs. Sawdust follows Karen and Calum up the driveway.
Mr. Sawdust says, OH. I'LL, UH, GET THE SUITCASE THEN.
He nods and walks around the car toward the trunk.
[Captivating music plays]
In the backyard, different-coloured triangles hang across a large, house-shaped guinea pig hutch. The wind blows flags on the turrets of a rectangular castle hutch. In a large pen run, a guinea pig with long black, white and orange hair lies beside a straw hideout near a blue castle hideaway. Karen follows Calum into the yard and puts Olga and Daisy’s pet carrier on the ground.
Karen says, WHOA!
Olga narrates, A GUINEA PIG CASTLE? WITH TURRETS?
Karen asks, HOW MANY GUINEA PIGS DO YOU HAVE?
Olga narrates, OH, THE OTHER GUINEA PIGS!
Calum says, TWO. BORIS AND BESSIE.
He looks in the pen toward the long-haired guinea pig inside the castle hideaway.
Calum says, THEY MUST BE SLEEPING. THEY'VE JUST HAD A BIG LUNCH.
Olga narrates, WELL, I HOPE THEY HADN'T EATEN IT ALL!
Calum says, AND THAT IS WHERE OLGA AND DAISY WILL BE STAYING.
He points toward the castle hutch.
Calum says, AND THIS IS THEIR GARDEN RUN.
He walks over to the large pen. Mrs. Sawdust joins Karen and Calum.
Mrs. Sawdust says, OH! THAT'S GREAT.
Karen passes her the pet carrier.
Mrs. Sawdust says, THEY CAN GET SOME FRESH AIR AND SETTLE IN.
She carefully puts the pet carrier down inside the pen and nudges Olga out.
[Guinea pig squeaking]
[Karen and Calum giggling]
[Mrs. Sawdust chuckling]
A fenced wall separates Olga from the other guinea pigs, Boris and Bessie. Olga explores the space, and Daisy leaves the pet carrier. Mrs. Sawdust lifts the carrier out of the pen.
[Guinea pigs squeaking
Karen says, I THINK THEY LIKE IT!
At the back door, Mr. Sawdust leans on a porch railing.
He asks, ANYONE FOR ICE CREAM?
Calum says, YEAH!
Karen says, YEAH!
She looks in the pen toward Olga and Daisy.
Karen says, WE'LL BE BACK SOON!
Mrs. Sawdust closes the roof door on the pen and follows Calum and Karen to the house.
In a wooden hideaway, Daisy says, OH! I THINK I'M STILL DREAMING.
Olga says, NO, YOU'RE NOT, DAISY. WE ARE STAYING IN OUR VERY OWN CASTLE!
Olga looks around the yard.
She says, I COULD WEAVE MANY A-FANCIFUL TALE ABOUT THIS.
[Daisy sighing tiredly]
Daisy says, THE CAR MAKES ME SO SLEEPY.
Olga says, REALLY!
She fills her mouth with grass.
Olga narrates, DAISY WAS MY BEST GUINEA PIG FRIEND, BUT NOT A VERY GOOD TRAVELLER. I'D HAVE TO FIND ONE OF THE OTHER GUINEA PIGS TO IMPRESS WITH A STORY.
Olga wanders around the pen. Daisy remains in the wooden hideaway.
[Gentle music plays]
A gentle wind blows the leaves of lush plants around the backyard. In the pen, Olga nudges a straw hideaway. She wanders alongside the fence separating her from the blue castle hideaway.
Olga narrates, I HAD BEEN EXPLORING THE CASTLE FOR A WHILE WHEN I SAW HIM STANDING UPON A BLUE TURRET BARELY A WHISKER AWAY.
On top of the blue castle, the long-haired guinea pig nibbles on a blade of grass.
Olga narrates, THIS WAS MY CHANCE.
The long-haired guinea pig says, YOU MUST BE OLGA. I WAS TOLD YOU WERE COMING.
Olga says, YES, THAT'S ME. I'M OLGA DA POLGA. A GUINEA PIG FROM A LONG LINE OF –
The long-haired guinea pig interrupts and says, LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF. MY NAME'S BORIS AND I USED TO BE A PRINCE.
Olga says, HUH?
Boris says, I COULD TELL YOU A STORY ABOUT IT.
Olga says, YOU TELL ME A STORY? I DON'T THINK ANYONE COULD TELL ME A STORY I HAVEN'T HEARD BEFORE. I KNOW SO MANY.
Boris says, I DOUBT YOU'VE HEARD THIS ONE.
In an animated story, stars fill the night sky over a castle with a moat and drawbridge.
Boris narrates, A LONG, LONG TIME AGO IN A COUNTRY FAR, FAR AWAY, I LIVED IN A GRAND PALACE. EVERY NIGHT, PEOPLE IN FANCY CLOTHES AND SPARKLING JEWELS CAME FROM MILES AROUND TO LISTEN TO MY STORIES.
In the castle, people stand at a table wearing jewels. A brown-haired prince wears a gold crown. One person wears a crown with pink jewels, earrings and a necklace. Another person wears a crown with purple and green jewels. A magician with a long white beard wears a purple hat. Goblets, a plate of fruit and a cake cover the table.
Boris narrates, UNTIL ONE NIGHT, A MYSTERIOUS PRINCESS ARRIVED AND STARTED TO TELL A STORY OF HER OWN.
A brown-haired princess wearing a green dress joins the gathering.
[Princess chattering]
Boris narrates, I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. HER STORIES WERE AMAZING! AS WAS HER DANCING AND MAGIC TRICKS, TOO.
The princess dances.
[Crowd cheering]
The princess twirls the magician’s wand, and a white rabbit appears.
Boris narrates, BUT IT WAS THEN THAT I ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED THE COURT MAGICIAN'S WAND…
The prince, Boris, twirls and then drops the magician’s wand.
Boris narrates, AND…
The wand hits the ground, and swirls of colour fill the air.
Boris narrates, WE WERE BOTH TURNED INTO GUINEA PIGS FOREVER!
Boris and the princess turn into guinea pigs. The Princess looks like Olga.
[Both squeaking]
The story ends. In the live-action flashback, Olga nibbles on blades of grass.
Olga narrates, WELL, I HAVE TO SAY I WAS QUITE IMPRESSED. IT WAS ALMOST AS GOOD AS ONE OF MY STORIES, BUT NOT QUITE.
Boris finishes a blade of grass.
Olga asks, SO, HOW DID YOU COME TO BE IN CALLUM'S BACK GARDEN?
Boris says, I'M GLAD YOU ASKED ME THAT.
Olga says, WELL?
Boris says, IT'S, UH, UM… IT'S FAR TOO LONG A STORY TO TELL TODAY.
Olga says, WELL, LET ME TELL YOU ONE OF MY STORIES.
Boris says, HM?
Olga says, THERE WAS A BRAVE, ADVENTUROUS EXPLORER WHO TRAVELLED ALL OVER THE WORLD.
In the wooden hideaway, Daisy turns toward Olga.
[Gentle music plays]
A bee flutters around purple and white flowers. Olga and Boris stand in the pen near each other on opposite sides of the fence.
[Guinea pigs squeaking]
Karen and Calum stand against the pen and look at their guinea pigs. Mr. Sawdust kneels beside Karen. Mrs. Sawdust kneels beside Calum.
Mr. Sawdust says, OH, THIS IS THE LIFE.
[Guinea pig squeaking]
Karen says, LOOKS LIKE OLGA'S MADE A NEW FRIEND.
Calum says, THAT'S BORIS. HE'S ALWAYS SQUEAKING.
[Chuckling]
Karen says, SO IS OLGA.
Mrs. Sawdust says, I'VE NEVER SEEN HER SO LIVELY.
Mr. Sawdust says, HEY, DIDN'T I SAY A BIT OF SEASIDE AIR THROUGH YOUR WHISKERS WOULD TURN YOU INTO A NEW ANIMAL, OLGA?
Olga eats a mouthful of grass.
[Mrs. Sawdust chuckling]
Mrs. Sawdust says, COME ON. LET'S GO.
She walks back toward the house with Karen, Calum and Mr. Sawdust.
[Guinea pigs squeaking]
Daisy leaves the wooden hideaway. Boris lies on top of his blue castle.
Olga narrates, MR. SAWDUST WAS HALF RIGHT.
Olga scurries into the wooden hideaway.
She narrates, I HADN'T BEEN CHANGED INTO A NEW ANIMAL, I'D BEEN CHANGED INTO ROYALTY WITH MY OWN CASTLE AND A REAL PRINCE.
Boris walks down the ramp on his castle.
Olga asks, SHALL I TELL YOU A STORY OF THE BEST GRASS IN THE WORLD?
Boris says, OH, YES, PLEASE, PRINCESS OLGA!
He lies in the doorway of the castle.
Olga narrates, I THINK I WAS GOING TO LIKE BEING ON HOLIDAY.
[Olga squeaking]
[Gentle music plays]
The sun shines brightly over a large flower. In the Sawdust family’s backyard, Noel lies on the grassy hill in front of the guinea pig hutch beside Graham. Fangio joins them. Olga and Daisy lie in the hutch.
Olga narrates, YES, STORIES ARE GREAT AND EVEN BETTER WHEN YOU GET TO SHARE THEM WITH A HOLIDAY FRIEND.
Olga nibbles on a blade of grass.

[Playful music plays]
