Transcript: Phototropism
Teacher Aldo stands in the lab behind a table with a plant and a yellow ball.
Teacher Aldo is in his thirties, with short curly black hair and a shadow of a goatee. He wears glasses and a blue Homework Zone T-shirt.
He says HI, I'M TEACHER
ALDO AND I'M HERE TODAY TO TALK
TO YOU ABOUT PLANTS.
HAVE YOU EVER GROWN PLANTS ON A
WINDOW SILL?
DID YOU NOTICE THAT IT BENDS
TOWARDS THE DIRECTION OF THE
SUNLIGHT?
THAT HAS EVER EVERYTHING TO DO
WITH SOMETHING CALLED
PHOTOTROPISM.
LET'S SAY THAT THIS BALL
REPRESENTS THE SUN, AS THE SUN'S
UP IN THE SKY, THE PLANT BENDS
ITS LEAVES TOWARDS THE DIRECTION
OF THE SUN.
WHY?
BECAUSE IT TRIES TO MAXIMIZE HOW
MUCH SUNLIGHT IT RECEIVES IN A
DAY.
THE BENDING OF THE LEAVES IS
CALLED PHOTOTROPISM.
I'M TEACHER ALDO AND NOW YOU
KNOW.
