A narrator says, ONE OF A KIND.
(Gentle music playing)
(Giggling)
Jasmine dances on a beach. She bends down to look at a shell. She puts the shell on the head of a lizard-like creature.
(Giggling)
Bird-like musical notes rock back and forth on leaves.
Notes singing, LA-LA, LA-LA, LA-LA, LA
The black cat, Dooby Doo, looks at a rope tied to an anchor on the beach.
(Meowing)
Jasmine holds one end of the rope and turns it like a skipping rope. Dooby Doo skips.
(Giggling)
Jasmine puts her ear to a shell.
(Sound of waves)
Jasmine says, OOH! THE BEACH IS LIKE A GOLD MINE, FULL OF TREASURES!
Jambo floats over. He is shaped like a boat.
Jambo asks, ARE YOU LOOKING FOR TREASURES? WELL, I HAVE ONE HERE THAT'S COMPLETELY UNIQUE. IT WAS HANDMADE BY ONE OF THE GREATEST BANJO-MAKERS IN THE WORLD, AND HE LENT IT TO ME BECAUSE HE'S A VERY, VERY GOOD FRIEND OF MINE. HMPH.
Jasmine still listens to the shell.
Jasmine says, OH, THAT'S GREAT.
The lizard walks over to her with a shell on its tail.
Jasmine cries, OH! A PERIWINKLE FROM THE SOUTH SEAS, FANTASTIC!
(Giggling)
Jambo turns back into his usual shape and walks on shore.
Jambo says, I'LL LEAVE THEM TO IT. I'M GOING TO TRY OUT THIS BANJO. THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND.
Jambo opens a banjo case and takes the banjo out.
(Strumming)
(Chuckling)
Jambo takes the banjo and turns back into a boat. He sails off.
(Chuckling)
Notes singing, LA-LA, LA-LA
(Giggling)
Jasmine tosses a shell into a container on Dooby Doo’s head.
The lizard bumps into the anchor and knocks over the banjo case leaning against it. The case floats away in the water.
Dooby Doo looks alarmed.
(Meowing)
Jasmine cries, THAT'S JAMBO'S BANJO!
Jasmine watches the banjo case floating on the water.
(Panicked whimpering)
Jasmine says, HMM. AH, NO BIG DEAL.
Jasmine uses a stick to draw a diagram in the sand.
Jasmine says, I'LL CLIMB UP A PALM TREE AND CATAPULT MYSELF OVER TO SOUNDLAND. THEN I'LL GRAB A ROWBOAT AND I'LL BRING IT BACK HERE WITH A PARAGLIDER. THEN WE CAN ROW OUT TO THE BANJO CASE AND RESCUE IT, EASY.
(Gasping)
The banjo case sinks.
Jasmine cries, OH...
Jasmine looks thoughtful.
Jasmine says, I KNOW!
She erases the diagram and draws a picture of a banjo in the sand.
Jasmine says, PERFECT, RIGHT?
Dooby Doo looks doubtful.
Notes singing, LA!
Jasmine says, GO LOOK FOR CANS, WOOD, STRING. ANYTHING WE CAN USE. IF THIS FRIEND OF JAMBO'S CAN MAKE A BANJO, SO CAN WE.
(Giggling)
Jasmine directs the animals as they carry objects over.
Notes singing, LA-LA, LA-LA, LA-LA
Jasmine says, OKAY, AS JAMBO SAYS, THIS WILL BE AS EASY AS READY, SET, GO! WHEEE!
As Jasmine works, a cloud of dust rises, covering everything.
(Meowing)
(Gasping)
The dust clears and everyone stares at the banjo made of sticks and string.
(Cheering)
A fish leaps out of its bowl to look at the banjo.
(Discordant noise)
The fish jumps back to the bowl. Jasmine looks uncertain as she studies the banjo.
Jasmine says, HUH?
(Discordant noise)
Jasmine says, IT'S RUBBISH.
Jambo says, HOW'S THE TREASURE HUNT GOING? YOU WON'T FIND ANYTHING BETTER THAN MINE.
Jambo sails back to the beach.
Jasmine says, OH, HI, JAMBO!
Jasmine and the animals stand in front of the banjo.
(Chuckling nervously)
Jasmine says, YOU'RE BACK EARLY. SO, ANYWAY, A THING HAPPENED. BUT, SAY YOU WON'T GET MAD?
Jambo says, IF I GET MAD, I'LL JUST HAVE TO DO TWO JOBS-- GET MAD, THEN CALM MYSELF DOWN AGAIN.
(Chuckling)
Jambo asks, SO, TELL ME, WHAT HAPPENED?
(Clearing throat)
Jasmine says, WE LOST...THE CASE FOR THE BANJO! IT FELL INTO THE SEA, SPLOOSH.
Jambo says, NO PROBLEM, THE BANJO CASE ISN'T IMPORTANT. IT'S THE BANJO THAT WAS INSIDE IT, THAT BANJO IS UNIQUE.
Jasmine says THE BANJO?
(Meowing)
Jasmine and the animals move aside. Jambo looks at the crafted banjo.
(Jasmine chuckling nervously)
Jambo picks up the banjo.
(Laughing)
(Jasmine giggling)
Jambo says, THAT ISN'T A BANJO!
Jasmine asks, WHY NOT?
Jambo says, BECAUSE IT'S REALLY BADLY MADE.
He strums the banjo.
(Discordant noise)
Jambo says, AND IT SOUNDS WORSE THAN A WATERING CAN, HAH!
Jasmine says, HMM, MAYBE IT'S A LITTLE OUT OF TUNE.
Jasmine adjusts a string.
Jasmine says, THERE YOU GO!
(Discordant noise)
Jasmine says, UGH...
(Laughing)
Jambo says, DO YOU MIND ME ASKING WHO BUILT THIS PILE OF JUNK?
Jasmine says, FIRSTLY, IT'S A PILE OF JUNK, BUT WE MADE IT. LET'S HAVE A LITTLE RESPECT FOR OUR PILE OF JUNK. AND SECONDLY, I'M SORRY! THE REAL BANJO IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA.
(Sighing sadly)
Jasmine says, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT.
(Laughing)
Jasmine asks, DO YOU MIND TELLING ME WHY YOU'RE LAUGHING LIKE THAT?
Jambo says, BECAUSE, YOU SEE, THE REAL BANJO IS NOT LOST. I TOOK IT WITH ME WHILE YOU WERE LOOKING FOR TREASURES.
Jambo takes the real banjo out of his hat.
(Jasmine exclaiming happily)
Jasmine says, YOU'RE THE BEST! WE WANTED TO MAKE ONE JUST LIKE IT, BUT IT'S DIFFICULT.
Jambo says, OF COURSE, INSTRUMENTS ARE MADE BY PEOPLE WHO ARE REAL EXPERTS. THEY'RE CALLED "LUTHIERS." BUT ONE DAY, A LUTHIER FRIEND OF MINE SHOWED ME HOW TO DO IT. WHAT DO YOU SAY, SHALL WE MAKE ONE? A GOOD ONE, I MEAN.
(Jasmine clapping)
Jasmine says, YES!
(Banjo music playing)
Jambo plays the banjo and Jasmine dances.
Jambo singing, START OUT RIGHT FROM THE START LAY OUT EVERYTHING YOU NEED, MAKING SURE THAT EVERY PART IS THE BEST THAT IT CAN BE PICKING EVERY LITTLE PIECE SO CAREFULLY TIE AND SHAPE, SMOOTH AND SAND. BEFORE YOU CUT, YOU MEASURE TWICE WITH SHARP TOOLS AND STEADY HANDS MAKE THE FINAL FIT PRECISE THEN WE PUT IT ALL TOGETHER NICE AND NEAT. A WELL-MADE INSTRUMENT WILL SOUND SO SWEET. A LUTHIER'S JOB IS SWELL BUT YOU HAVE TO DO IT WELL WHEN YOU TRY, YOU'LL UNDERSTAND.
Diagrams show the construction of a banjo.
Jasmine plays a banjo alongside Jambo.
Jambo singing, A LUTHIER'S JOB IS SWELL BUT YOU HAVE TO DO IT WELL WHEN YOU TRY, YOU'LL UNDERSTAND. FOR A BANJO TO SOUND BRIGHT YOU JUST HAVE TO BUILD IT RIGHT WHEN YOU TRY, YOU'LL UNDERSTAND.
The sun smiles over a colourful animated city.
Jambo says, IT'S ALL READY TO GO! CONGRATULATIONS, JASMINE! YOU ARE A FIRST-RATE LUTHIER.
(Giggling)
Jasmine and Jambo both play.
(Banjo music playing)
(Chuckling)
Jasmine says, AH!
