Episode title: The Instrument You Play Without Touching.

Jasmine skips happily. She carries a blue mug in her left hand and stops beside Doodoowah.

[Hums, gentle music plays]

Jasmine says, HEY, DOODOOWAH, JAMBO'S MADE
HOT CHOCCY-WOCCY FOR SNACK TIME!

Doodoowah stares at a rocket-shaped post box with a propeller on the top.

[Giggles, ticking]

Jasmine says, HM?
OH, UH, AREN'T YOU COMING? HM?

Jasmine skips past Doodoowah.

[Humming]

Jasmine stops in front of a large pot of melted chocolate. Jambo stirs the choccy-woccy and scoops some up in a ladle.

Jambo says, HERE WE GO, IT'S READY.

Jasmine cheers, FANTASTIC!
JUST IN TIME!

Jambo asks, JASMINE, WHAT ABOUT
DOODOOWAH?

Jasmine says, NO, HE'S STANDING NEXT TO THE
POST BOX AS STILL AS A STATUE.

[Piano notes play]

Jambo says I WONDER WHY. HM.

Jasmine says, MM! MM-MM.

Jasmine fills the ladle with choccy-woccy, and Jambo takes it away.

[Sloshing]

Jambo says, NOT YET, WAIT A MOMENT.
WE HAVE TO GIVE THE CHOCOLATE
TIME TO COOL DOWN.

Jasmine pouts, THIS IS BORING.

Doobeedoo and Doodoowah jump up and down impatiently.

[Doobeedoo meows]

Jambo says, HOLD YOUR HORSES!
HOLD YOUR HORSES, BE PATIENT!

[Doobeedoo meows]

Jasmine stealthily pokes a finger into the choccy-woccy.

[Plink]

Jasmine shouts, OW, IT'S BOILING!

[Blows on her finger]

Jambo says, OF COURSE!
I TRIED TO WARN YOU, BE PATIENT.

WHILE WE WAIT FOR IT TO COOL
DOWN, WE CAN OPEN A PARCEL THAT
THE POSTMAN LEFT IN THE
INSTRUMENT GARDEN.

Jasmine says, A NEW INSTRUMENT?

[Jasmine vocalizes]

In the instrument garden, Jasmine dances excitedly in front of a large box.

[Jasmine vocalizes, feet tap]

Jasmine says, IT'S ENORMOUS!

Jambo says, THAT'S WHY THEY LEFT IT HERE.
IT WOULDN'T FIT IN THE LETTER BOX.

Jasmine pulls on the string, and it falls off the box. Jambo opens the top of the box and peers inside.

[Rustling, slide whistle, gentle music plays]

Jambo says, OH? OH!

Jambo scratches his head.

Jambo says, HM. HM... AH!

Jambo turns into a crane and reaches into the box. He lifts out a small red and yellow rectangular instrument.

[Doobeedoo meows]

Jasmine says, HM?
IT'S REALLY SMALL.

Jambo says, THE POSTMAN SAID IT WAS AN
INSTRUMENT, BUT TO TELL YOU THE
TRUTH I HAVE NO IDEA HOW YOU
PLAY IT.

Jasmine taps on the instrument with a xylophone mallet. Jambo uses a violin bow. Jasmine blows into an antenna on the instrument.

[Whirring, tapping, scraping, blowing]

Doobeedoo takes a piece of paper off the box.

[Paper rustles, Doobeedoo meows]

Jambo exclaims, TROMBONES, IT COMES WITH
INSTRUCTIONS. THANKS, DOOBEEDOO!

Jasmine reads, "THEREMIN, THE INSTRUMENT YOU
PLAY WITHOUT TOUCHING."

She says, HUH? IF YOU DON'T TOUCH IT, HOW CAN
YOU PLAY IT?

[Paper rustles]

Jambo says, IT SEEMS VERY STRANGE.

Jambo reads, "ONE, FIRST TURN ON THE THEREMIN."

Jambo exclaims, BLOW ME DOWN, IT NEEDS BATTERIES!

Jasmine says, THAT EXPLAINS WHY IT DIDN'T
WORK.

[Jasmine laughs, Jambo imitates her, sighs]

Jambo says, OH, HERE IT IS.

Jambo pushes a button on the Theremin.

[Click, loud squealing, everyone gasps, Doobeedoo yowls]

Jasmine says, WHOA!

Jambo says, WHOA, AH!

[Whirring, meowing, Doobeedoo yowls]

Jambo says, WE'LL JUST HAVE TO FOLLOW
THE INSTRUCTIONS.

The instructions unfold and roll across the ground.

[Flapping]

Jasmine says, WHAT?

"POINT TWO, THE THEREMIN IS
PLAYED BY MOVING YOUR HANDS IN
THE AIR IN VERY PRECISE WAYS."

Jasmine says, POINT TWO OUT OF...
50 MORE?! THAT'S MORE THAN ALL
THE NOTES UP TO--

Jasmine sings, FA!

Jambo replies, DON'T YOU MEAN ALL THE WAY
DOWN TO--

Jambo sings, FA!

[Chuckles]

Jasmine asks, HOW DID IT GO?
YOU MOVE YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR,
RIGHT?

Jambo asks, WHAT ABOUT THE INSTRUCTIONS?

Jasmine says, THEY'RE TOO LONG!
IT CAN'T BE THAT COMPLICATED.

[Gentle piano music plays]

Jambo says, OH, WELL, SUIT YOURSELF.
AND NOW HOW THE TUBERS AM I
SUPPOSED TO FOLD THIS BACK UP?

[Paper rustles]

Meanwhile, Doodoowah paces beside the post box.

[Tapping]

In the instrument garden, Jasmine tries to play the Theremin. The Theremin rests on top of Doobeedoo’s head.

[Whistles]

Jambo tries to fold the instructions.

[Groaning, rustling]

Jasmine tries to play the Theremin.

[Whistling]

[Lalalas sing, Doobeedoo yowls, the sun groans]

Doodoowah stares up at the post box.

[Tuneless whistling from Theremin in the distance]

A heart appears in Doodoowah’s eye. Doodoowah turns and walks away from the post box.

[Tapping]

In the instrument garden, Jambo is wrapped in a ball in the instructions. Doobeedoo pounces playfully, knocking him down a hill.

[Groaning, meowing, rustling]

Jambo shouts, DOOBEEDOO, STOP IT!
I'M GETTING DIZZY!

Jambo rolls over Jasmine and the Theremin. They both stick to the outside of the ball of instructions.

[Shouting, grunting, meowing]

Jambo rolls into a tree, and the instructions fall to the ground. Doodoowah walks to the instructions and jumps on top of them.

[Thunk, meow, tapping]

Jasmine and Jambo sit back to back on the ground. Tears well in Jasmine’s eye.

[Sad music plays]

Jasmine says, I CAN PLAY THE BAGPIPES,
THE ORGAN, THE RECORDER.

Jambo says, I CAN READ MUSICAL SCORES
THAT ARE 30 PAGES LONG.

Jasmine says, I COULD PLAY THE PIANO WITH
MY EYES TIGHT SHUT.

Jambo says, I'VE MEMORIZED 15 OPERAS AND
20 MUSICALS!

Jasmine says, BUT I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO
PLAY THEREMIN.

Jambo says, AND I'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO
FOLD A SHEET OF INSTRUCTIONS!

[Crying, grumbling]

Doodoowah folds the instructions into a square.

[Rustling, gentle humming]

Doodoowah walks to the Theremin, sticks out his tongue, and waves it over the Theremin.

[Theremin whistles musically]

[Gentle music plays]

Jasmine says, DOODOOWAH, YOU CAN PLAY THE
THEREMIN!

Jambo says, OF COURSE, HE'S READ THE
INSTRUCTIONS FROM FRONT TO BACK.
HE'S EVEN FOLDED THEM BACK UP.

Ta-Da jumps over Jambo, Doobeedoo, Jasmine, and Doodoowah.

[Fanfare plays]

Jasmine says, HEY, YOU WERE WAITING
FOR THE THEREMIN. THAT'S WHY YOU
WERE BESIDE THE POSTBOX.

Jambo says, YOU'RE A GENIUS, DOODOOWAH.

Doodoowah plays the Theremin.

[Theremin music plays]

Jambo and Jasmine run.

[Fast-paced music plays, Theremin music plays]

Jambo sings, IF YOU RUN TOO FAST
YOU'LL TRIP ON EVERY OBSTACLE
YOU PASS.

Jasmine trips over a ball.

Jambo sings, STEP BY STEP AND BIT BY BIT,
THE QUICKEST RUNNERS SOMETIMES
FINISH LAST.

Jambo and Jasmine sing, THREE AND 50, TWO THEN EIGHT,
THAT'S THE WAY OF COUNTING STRAIGHT.

WHEN YOU SOLVE THE MYSTERY,
SUDDENLY IT'S CLEAR AS IT CAN BE.

THERE'S NO NEED TO RUSH,
IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE TO GO.

NO NEED TO MAKE NEW PLANS
THE ANSWER'S RIGHT AT HAND

Doodoowah watches Jasmine dance.

Jambo and Jasmine sing, THREE AND 50, TWO THEN EIGHT
THAT'S THE WAY OF COUNTING STRAIGHT.
WHEN YOU SOLVE THE MYSTERY,
SUDDENLY IT'S CLEAR AS IT CAN BE.

ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE,
SIX, SEVEN. STEP BY STEP UP TO 11.

EYES WIDE OPEN,
EARS WIDE LISTENING.
THEN WE WORK
AND ALWAYS LOOKING.

The sun smiles.

[Slide whistle]

Everyone holds mugs of hot chocolate.

Jambo says, NOW, WE CAN DRINK OUR HOT
CHOCOLATE. IT'S NICE AND COOL.

Doodoowah grabs Jasmine’s mug with his long, frog-like tongue.

[Jasmine gasps, Jambo laughs]

Jasmine says, DOODOOWAH!
GREEDY GUTS!

Jambo says, THAT'S WHAT I CALL PATIENCE.

[Doobeedoo and Jambo laugh, slurping]

[Theremin music plays]
