Eight-year-old Ella, who has curly black hair, runs down a staircase carrying a toy rocket ship. She wears a blue-green space suit and a helmet with animal ears.

[Children laugh, rock music plays]

Ella enters a living room and gives her little sister, Tilly, the rocket ship.

A singer sings, COME WITH ME TO THE STARS
THE GALAXY IS OURS!

Ella’s mom picks up Tilly and smiles as Ella runs outside. Outside the house, in outer space, Ella runs past her dad.

Children say, LET'S GO!

Singers sing, LOOK AT ALL THE WONDER,
INTER-STELLAR.

Ella flies her moon scooter over a planet with Madhu, a blue and green alien, and Slippy, a black-haired boy who flies a red space racer.

[Glitch whirrs]

Singers sing, LOOK UP SO MUCH SPLENDOUR,
INTER-STELLAR.

[Background shouting]

Singers sing, LOOK OUT FOR ADVENTURE
COME EXPLORE THE MILKY WAY!

Ella and Slippy explore a planet together with Maggie, a blue star. Elsewhere in space, Slippy and Madhu look startled.

They say, WOAH!

They dodge Ella and her moon scooter.

The singer sings, COME EXPLORE THE MILKY WAY!

Ella and her family sit on a spacecraft.

The singer sings, LOOK UP!
INTERSTELLAR ELLA.

Text reads, “TVO Kids presents Interstellar Ella.”

[Upbeat music plays]

A hacky sack flies past the clubhouse, and Slippy chases it.

Ella says, GET THE HACKY SACK SLIPPY.

Slippy hits the hacky sack to Ella, and then she kicks it to Madhu. Madhu spins in a ball, uncurls, and then kicks the hacky sack.

Ella says, AWESOME TECHNIQUE MADHU.

Madhu says, YOUR TURN AGAIN, SLIPPY.

Slippy catches the hacky sack.

[Whooshing, clattering, music ends]

Ella says, THAT'S NOT GLITCH'S
NORMAL SOUND.
WHAT'S GOING ON?

Slippy takes a device out of Glitch’s front compartment, touches the screen, and then puts the device back.

Slippy says, IT'S NOTHING.

Glitch puts his hands on his sides and lowers his eyebrows.

[Glitch beeps]

Slippy says, OKAY. IT'S MY UNCLE
DREW'S PLANTS.

I PROMISED HIM I'D WATER
THEM WHILE HE'S AWAY.

Madhu asks, THEN SHOULDN'T WE GO WATER THEM?

Slippy says, WE DON'T HAVE TO.
BECAUSE I BUILT HIM AN AWESOME
WATERING MACHINE.
IT'S AN AUTOMATIC
WATERING SYSTEM.

IT WATERS THE PLANTS
FROM A BIG TANK ALL BY ITSELF.

Slippy kicks the hacky sack from foot to foot.

[Whirring]

Slippy says, IT'S FINE.
WE CAN CHECK ON IT
AFTER THE GAME.

Ella arches one eyebrow, and Madhu looks at Slippy with big eyes.

Slippy says, GUYS, WE’LL CHECK ON IT
IN 10 MINUTES. IT'S PRETTY FAR.

Madhu flies in circles around Slippy.

Madhu chants, PLANT FRIENDS.
PLANT FRIENDS.

Slippy says, OKAY, FINE.

[Whooshing]

Slippy says, I GUESS I COULD SHOW YOU
THE MASSIVE PURPLE PLANT.
IT'S SUPER COOL.

Ella says, ALL RIGHT PURPLE
PLANT FROM UNCLE DREW.

WE'RE COMING FOR YOU.

In space, Ella, Slippy, and Madhu fly towards a greenhouse dome. Slippy kicks the hacky sack to Madhu, who kicks it.

Madhu says, OHH!
THIS PLACE LOOKS BEAUTIFUL.

Slippy says, UNCLE DREW
STUDIES PLANTS.

HE'S GOT GIANT PINK
ONES, SMELLY ONES, AND A PLANT
I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYWHERE ELSE.
IT'S PITCH BLACK.

Ella says, WHOA.

Ella kicks the hacky sack.

Ella asks, HOW CAN A PLANT BE PITCH BLACK?

Maggie floats out of Ella’s bracelet. She projects a screen showing plants with different colours and shapes.

[Whirring]

Maggie says, DIFFERENT COLOURS
OF LIGHT FROM DIFFERENT STARS
CAUSE PLANTS TO HAVE UNIQUE
COLOURS LIKE THIS.

Slippy says, THE GIANT RED STAR DOES
COOL THINGS TO THE PLANTS.
YOU'LL SEE.

Slippy throws the hacky sack into the greenhouse, and it falls to the floor. He lands his space racer on the surface of a planet and puts Glitch on the ground.

[Squelching, whooshing, whirring, gentle music plays]

Slippy says, I GUESS
HACKY SACK IS LESS FUN
WITH ARTIFICIAL GRAVITY.

Maggie says, THIS GREENHOUSE ALSO
HAS AIR PRESSURE AND HEAT AND...

Ella says, UMM...SLIPPY?

The plants in the greenhouse are wilted and brown. A leaf falls off a plant.

[Rustling]

Madhu says, ALL THESE PLANTS ARE
DRY AND WILTY.

Sparks fly out of a round watering system attached to a pipe.

[Zapping]

Slippy says, OH, NO.
MY WATERING SYSTEM BROKE. GONE.

THE BANANA TREE NEEDS
THE MOST WATER OF ALL.
OH, THIS ISN'T GOOD.

Madhu flies to the wilted banana tree.

[Madhu creaks]

Madhu says, I KNEW YOU'RE THIRSTY.
WE'RE HERE TO HELP.

[Glitch beeps]

Madhu says, WHAT?
PLANTS DON'T JUST NEED WATER.
THEY NEED LOVE TOO.

Slippy says, I'VE GOT TO FIX THIS.
I PROMISED UNCLE DREW I’D
KEEP HIS PLANTS SAFE.

Madhu says, WE'LL HELP YOU SLIPPY.

Ella says, YEAH! LET'S WATER THEM
THE OLD FASHIONED WAY.

IS THAT THE WATER TANK?

Slippy says, GREAT IDEA ELLA.

Slippy gives Ella a yellow hose. She flies above the plants.

Ella says, LET'S SPRAY THESE BEAUTIES. MADHU.

Madhu pushes a red button on a water tank.

[Click]

Slippy says, NO MADHU, WAIT!

The water sprays from the hose, and Ella flies backwards from the greenhouse.

[Water sprays]

Ella shouts, WHOA!

Slippy shouts, NO!

Ella shouts, OH! WHOA, WHOA.

[Water sprays]

Slippy says, TURN IT OFF MADHU. QUICK.

Madhu tries to move the button.

Madhu says, UH-OH!

Slippy says, NO! NO! NO!

Ella says, WHOA! WHOA!

[Dramatic music plays]

The water stops, and Ella looks at the hose. She falls back into the greenhouse and lands on the floor.

[Thump]

Slippy looks at an empty water gauge on the side of the water tank.

He says, IT'S GONE.
IT'S ALL GONE.

Slippy falls to his knees.

[Clanking]

Madhu asks, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WATER?

Slippy says, IT VAPORIZED.

[Beeping]

Maggie says, THIS ASTEROID HAS NO
ATMOSPHERE TO PRESS AIR DOWN
ON ITS SURFACE, SO WATER IMMEDIATELY
TURNS INTO GAS.

Maggie projects a screen and shows water turning into gas.

[Hissing]

Maggie explains, THAT IS CALLED VAPORIZING.

Madhu says, IT'S OKAY PLANT FRIENDS.
WE'LL FIX THIS. RIGHT?

Ella says, I DON'T KNOW. WITHOUT WATER?

Madhu touches the banana tree, and a leaf falls to the floor.

[Rustling]

Slippy says, MAYBE THERE'S
STILL SOME WATER IN THE TANK.

[Chiming]

Maggie says, THERE IS NOT.

Slippy says, BUT MAYBE...

Maggie says, IT IS ALL GONE.

Ella asks, DO ANY OF THOSE ASTEROIDS
HAVE WATER?

Maggie replies, NO. THEY ARE ROCKY ASTEROIDS.
THEY DO NOT HAVE WATER.

Slippy asks, WELL, IS THERE A PLANET NEARBY
THAT HAS WATER?

Maggie says, SCANNING SOLAR SYSTEM.

YES. ON THE OTHER
SIDE OF THIS STAR,
THERE IS A PLANET, KEPLER-22B.
IT IS ENTIRELY COVERED
IN LIQUID WATER.

[Upbeat music plays]

Ella runs to two green buckets and picks one up.

Ella says, PERFECT!
COME ON, SLIP, LET'S GO.

Slippy picks up the other green bucket.

Madhu says, I'LL STAY HERE
AND KEEP THE PLANTS COMPANY.
WE CAN DO THIS. RIGHT
PLANT FRIENDS?

Slippy says, THANKS MADHU.

Ella and Slippy fly in their vehicles to Kepler-22B.

[Upbeat music plays]

Maggie says, ENABLE LIFEJACKET MODE, PLEASE.

Ella pushes a button on the space suit and a wave-shaped light flashes.

[Beep]

Ella and Slippy fly down towards the water.

[Whooshing]

Ella says, I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS
WHOLE PLANET IS JUST WATER.
IT LOOKS HUGE.

Maggie says, IT IS TWO AND A HALF
TIMES BIGGER THAN EARTH
AND IS TIPPED ON ITS SIDE.

Slippy says, SO EITHER THE NORTH
POLE OR SOUTH POLE
ALWAYS FACING THE SUN?

Maggie says, INDEED.
EACH POLE GETS 72 DAYS OF
CONSTANT DAYLIGHT.
AND THEN AS THE SEASONS CHANGE,
THEY SWITCH.

Ella exclaims, INTERSTELLAR.

Ella asks, WILL TWO BUCKETS BE ENOUGH
FOR ALL THOSE PLANTS?

Ella’s moon scooter lands on the water. She dips her bucket into the water and fills it.

[Water splashes]

Slippy says, IT SHOULD BE,
MY UNCLE'S GREENHOUSE RECYCLES
EVERY DROP OF WATER
BECAUSE IT'S SO PRECIOUS.

Slippy fills his bucket.

[Water splashes]

Ella asks, EVEN WATER SPILLED ON THE FLOOR?

Slippy puts his bucket in his space racer.

[Clattering]

Slippy says, YEP. HE'S
VERY CAREFUL ABOUT RECYCLING.

[Upbeat music plays]

Ella says, THIS WILL BE EASY PEASY,
LEMON SQUEEZY.

Water evaporates from the two buckets. Ella and Slippy stop their vehicles.

[Hissing]

Ella says, OR MORE LIKE DIFFICULT
PIFFICULT BANANA SQUIFFICULT.

Slippy says, NO, IT'S JUST LIKE WHAT HAPPENED
OUTSIDE THE GREENHOUSE.

[Beeping]

Maggie says, YES. WITHOUT AIR
PRESSURE, WATER VAPORIZES
TURNING FROM A LIQUID TO A GAS.

Slippy says, OKAY, WE CAN DO THIS.

Slippy picks up Glitch.

[Clanking]

Slippy says, WHAT IF WE BUILD
A VACUUM TO SUCK UP THE WATER
AND BRING IT BACK TO THE
GREENHOUSE?

Slippy pulls tools out of Glitch’s front compartment. Tools float away as Slippy grabs a screwdriver. Glitch welds a cranking lever on one side of a water vacuum.

[Zapping]

Maggie says, AS LONG AS THE WATER IS TRAPPED
INSIDE, IT WILL NOT VAPORIZE.

Ella asks, YOU MADE ANOTHER H2 HOSER?

Slippy says, WELL, I TRIED, BUT
I DIDN'T HAVE THE RIGHT PART,
SO I HOPE IT WORKS.

[Clanking]

Ella says, H2 HOSER 2.0
LET'S GO.

Slippy uses his space boots to hover over the water. A long tube extends from the H2-Hoser. Slippy turns the crank.

[Grinding, water splashes]

Slippy says, UH-OH, I GUESS THERE'S
A LOT OF SALT IN THE WATER.

MAYBE IF I TURN THE SALT FILTER
UP TO MAXIMUM.

Slippy pushes a button.

[Beep]

Ella says, MAYBE WE NEED
A PLAN B JUST IN CASE.

Slippy says, THERE'S NO TIME.
ELLA, I CAN'T LEAVE THE H2 HOSER.
OH, I WISH I CHECKED ON THE
PLANTS SOONER.

Ella flies to Slippy and puts her hand on his shoulder.

Ella says, DON'T WORRY.
I GOT AN IDEA.

YOU GET THE H2 HOSER
BACK TO THE GREENHOUSE.

WHILE GLITCH AND I GO TO THE
NORTH POLE.

Ella grabs Glitch and puts him on her moon scooter. She flies away from Slippy.

[Clank, whoosh, upbeat music plays]

Slippy repeats, THE NORTH POLE?

Ella shouts, YOU'LL SEE.

Slippy grits his teeth and turns the crank.

[Grinding]

In space, Slippy balances the H2-Hoser in front of him as he flies. Madhu appears in a com-bubble in front of Slippy.

[Gentle music plays, whooshing]

Slippy asks, HOW ARE THE PLANTS, MADHU?
ARE THEY HANGING IN THERE?

Madhu says, MORE LIKE DROOPING. I'M WORRIED.

Slippy says, IT'S OKAY.
I FILLED THE H2-HOSER
AND I'M COMING.

Vapour escapes from the H2-Hoser.

[Hissing, clanking, dramatic music plays]

Slippy says, HUH? OH, NO.

Madhu says, GREAT THINKING SLIPPY.

Slippy says, I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH FINGERS
OR TOES OR NOSES.

The H2-Hoser flies up into the air and falls apart.

[Hissing, clanking]

Madhu says, OH, NO.
THERE GOES THE WATER,
AND THE H2-HOSER 2.0.

Slippy says, I HOPE ELLA'S PLAN B WORKS.

In the North Pole, Ella sits on snow. She closes Glitch’s front compartment.

[Whirring, clank]

Ella asks, YOU SURE YOU'LL BE OKAY
LIKE THIS?

[Glitch beeps]

Ella says, I HOPE THAT MEANS YES.

Ella and Glitch walk to the moon racer. In space, Ella flies to Slippy.

Ella waves and says, HI.

WHAT HAPPENED
TO THE H2-HOSER 2.0?

Slippy says, IT EXPLODED.
TELL ME YOU HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS.

Ella says, I HOPE SO. IT'S ALL
THANKS TO MY LITTLE HELPER.

[Glitch beeps]

Slippy asks, ELLA,
WHAT DID YOU DO?

Ella says, WE WENT TO THE
NORTH POLE AND GOT ICE.
THAT'S FROZEN WATER.

IT SHOULD STAY THAT WAY
IN SPACE. RIGHT, MAGGIE?

Maggie flies out of Ella’s bracelet.

[Whirring, gentle music plays]

Maggie says, CORRECT.

FROZEN WATER STAYS
SOLID IN SPACE UNLESS IT IS
EXPOSED TO HEAT.

[Glitch beeps, rattling]

Slippy says, OH NO! THE ICE IS
FREEZING GLITCH'S SOCKETS
FROM THE INSIDE OUT.

Ella says, OKAY, WE BETTER HURRY BACK.

Glitch floats to Slippy.

[Glitch beeps]

Slippy says, I GOT YOU, PAL.

[Glitch beeps, dramatic music plays]

Madhu flies out of the greenhouse as Slippy and Ella run towards them.

Madhu says, ALL HANDS ON DECK.

THE BANANA TREE IS
LOSING MORE LEAVES.

[Rustling]

Slippy says, LET'S GET THE ICE OUT OF
GLITCH AND INTO THE WATER TANK.
HURRY.

Slippy picks Glitch up and shakes him.

[Clank, tense music plays]

Ella says, HE'S FROZEN SHUT.
WE'VE GOT TO WARM UP FIRST.

Madhu says, WITHOUT THE WATER
GOING POOF.

Ella says, SLIPPY.
DIDN'T YOU SAY THE GREENHOUSE
RECYCLES EVERY DROP OF WATER?

IF WE MELT GLITCH
IN THE GREENHOUSE...

Slippy says, IT’LL RECYCLE
THE MELTING WATER AND WATER
THE PLANTS.

YES. GLITCH WE’LL SAVE YOU
AND THE PLANTS.

[Glitch beeps, upbeat music plays]

They run into the greenhouse, and Slippy puts Glitch on a vent. A drop of water leaks out of Glitch’s compartment.

[Drip]

Ella says, WE'VE GOT TO
SPEED THIS UP.

Slippy says, LET'S GIVE GLITCH
A WARM HUG. HE DESERVES IT.

Everyone hugs Glitch.

[Glitch beeps]

Water pours out of the bottom of Glitch’s compartment, and the gauge on the side of the water tank fills. Slippy runs to the tank and picks up the yellow hose. He waters the plants.

[Water splashes, gentle music plays, clanking, water sprays]

The plants straighten and turn green. Yellow bananas hang from the banana tree. Slippy picks a banana and eats it. Ella and Madhu each eat a banana.

[Rustling, munching, footsteps rustle]

Ella asks, IS THAT THE STINKY PLANT?

[Munching]

Slippy says, YEAH.
WHEN THAT FLOWER
OPENS UP, THE SMELL IS GROSS.

Madhu says, I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE
ALL BETTER PLANT FRIENDS.

Slippy says, ME, TOO.
AND NOW LET'S
PLAY A NEW GAME.

Slippy bounces the hacky sack on his knee.

[Upbeat music plays]

In space, Glitch takes a chunk of ice out of his compartment and throws it to Ella. She bounces it off her chest and then kicks it to Madhu. Madhu bounces the ice chunk on their feet and then kicks it to Slippy. Slippy kicks the chunk into the greenhouse. It lands on the vent and melts. More chunks of ice slide onto the vent and melt. The water tank fills up.

[Upbeat music continues, thumping, water splashes, thud]

Slippy, Glitch, Ella, and Madhu walk back into the greenhouse.

[Gentle music plays]

Slippy says, NICE WATERING JOB,
GLITCH.

Ella says, EW. WHAT IS THAT?

Ella and Madhu cover their noses.

Madhu says, IT WASN'T ME.

Everyone says, EWW!

They leave the greenhouse.

[Everyone laughs]

[Rock music plays]

The singer sings, COME WITH ME TO THE STARS
THE GALAXY IS OURS!

Children say, LET'S GO!

Singers sing, LOOK AT ALL THE WONDER,
INTER-STELLAR.

LOOK UP SO MUCH SPLENDOUR,
INTER-STELLAR.

LOOK OUT FOR ADVENTURE
COME EXPLORE THE MILKY WAY!

LOOK UP!
INTERSTELLAR ELLA.
