Eight-year-old Ella, who has curly black hair, runs down a staircase carrying a toy rocket ship. She wears a blue-green space suit and a helmet with animal ears.
[Children laugh, rock music plays]
Ella enters a living room and gives her little sister, Tilly, the rocket ship.
A singer sings, COME WITH ME TO THE STARS, THE GALAXY IS OURS!
Ella’s mom, Celeste, picks up Tilly and smiles as Ella runs outside. Outside the house, in outer space, Ella runs past her dad, Tom.
Children say, LET'S GO!
Singers sing, LOOK AT ALL THE WONDER, INTER-STELLAR.
Ella flies her moon scooter over a planet with Madhu, a blue and green alien, and Slippy, a black-haired boy who flies a red space racer.
[Glitch whirrs]
Singers sing, LOOK UP SO MUCH SPLENDOUR, INTER-STELLAR.
[Background shouting]
Singers sing, LOOK OUT FOR ADVENTURE
COME EXPLORE THE MILKY WAY!
Ella and Slippy explore a planet together with Maggie, a blue star. Elsewhere in space, Slippy and Madhu look startled.
They say, WHOA!
They dodge Ella and her moon scooter.
The singer sings, COME EXPLORE THE MILKY WAY!
Ella and her family sit on a spacecraft.
The singer sings, LOOK UP! INTERSTELLAR ELLA.

In the Ryder home station, a trophy and a top hat fly across a room.
[Clattering, upbeat music plays]
Ella says, NOPE.
Ella digs through a pile of toys on a shelf. She throws a purple toy car over her shoulder.
[Clattering]
Ella says, NOPE, I KNOW IT'S HERE SOMEWHERE
Slippy stands behind Ella, his arms full of toys and the top hat balanced on his space suit helmet. He jumps and catches the purple car.
[Clattering]
Ella picks up a white device.
Ella says, AHA! MY NANNY'S OLD-SCHOOL HIDE-AND-PEEK.
Slippy says, ASTRONOMICAL. BUT HOW IS THAT GOING TO CHANGE HOW WE PLAY HIDE AND SEEK? WHAT DOES IT DO?
At the clubhouse, Ella releases the Hide-and-Peek, which it hovers in front of Slippy, Madhu, Ilo, and Gem.
Ella explains, IT'S A ROCKET-POWERED MOTION SENSOR. IT'S ALSO MY BEST SHOT AT BEATING YOUR RECORD AT HIDE AND SEEK. SLIPPY.
Ella holds two fingers in a victory sign, and the Hide-and-Peek hovers beside her.
[Whirring, beeping]
Slippy says, THAT'S NOT GONNA TO HAPPEN.
Gem runs to Ella and looks at the Hide-and-Peek. She jumps up and down, and lights flash on the Hide-and-Peek.
[Footsteps softly thumping, beeping]
Gem says, I DON'T KNOW, SLIPPY. THIS THING LOOKS PRETTY COOL.
Ilo elbows Slippy and says, YEAH. ARE YOU WORRIED?
Slippy says, OF COURSE NOT. HAVE YOU SEEN MY RECORD? I SEARCHED FIVE PLANETS AND FOUND EVERYBODY IN UNDER ONE HOUR.
Maggie floats beside Ella and creates a screen displaying 55:18.
Madhu says, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHO WILL WIN. LET'S START THE GAME. WHERE TO MAGGIE?
On the screen, a needle spins on a wheel. It stops and points at a section with two planets.
[Creaking, whooshing, soothing music plays]
Maggie says, TODAY'S HIDE AND SEEK GAME WILL HAPPEN IN THE LUMEN 16 BINARY STAR SYSTEM.
Ella releases the Hide-and-Peek.
She asks, EVERYONE READY? LET THE COUNTDOWN BEGIN.
Everyone runs to their space vehicles.
[Footsteps rustling, clunking, Ella counting in the background]
Gem asks, DO YOU HEAR THAT SOUND ILO?
Slippy looks at Ilo.
Ilo taunts, OH, YEAH. IS THAT BOOM SLIPPPY’S THIS RECORD BEING BROKEN?
[Engine rumbling]
Gem says, IF I WAS SLIPPY, I'D FIND A WAY TO MAKE SURE THAT HIDE-AND-PEEK COULDN'T FIND ME. BUT, HEY, THAT'S JUST ME.
Gem flies away from the clubhouse, and Ilo glares at her.
[Ilo laughing, whooshing, dramatic music plays]
Ilo uses his rocket boots to fly behind Madhu. By the clubhouse, Slippy watches the others fly away. He looks at Ella’s back and the Hide-and-Peek hovering beside her. Slippy reverses his space racer to the Hide-and-Peek.
[Gentle music plays, whirring]
Slippy stealthily takes a cord from the Hide-and-Peek, and attaches it to his space racer. The power bar on the Hide-and-Peek drops from full to under halfway full.
[Clicking, whirring, Glitch beeping]
Slippy whispers, I'M JUST TAKING A LITTLE BIT OF ROCKET FUEL. I PROMISE IT'LL MAKE THE GAME MORE EXCITING.
[Clicking, Glitch whirring]
Ella counts, TEN, NINE, EIGHT...
[Glitch whirring]
Slippy says, YOU'RE RIGHT. I SHOULD PUT THIS BACK.
Slippy sneaks towards the Hide-and-Peek.
Ella counts, SIX, FIVE, FOUR.
Glitch says, BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
Ella counts, FOUR, THREE....
Slippy looks anxiously between the Hide-and-Seek and his space racer. He grits his teeth and lifts his hand to his mouth.
Ella says, TWO, ONE. READY OR NOT, HERE I COME.
Ella uncovers her eyes and looks around. Slippy and Glitch are gone.
[Upbeat music plays]
Later, Ella arrives at the Lumen 16 Binary solar system. Two brown dwarfs overlap in front of her. Maggie flies beside the moon scooter.
[Whooshing]
Ella says, THIS PLACE LOOKS SO COOL, MAGGIE.
[Maggie whirring]
Maggie says, INDEED, ELLA. LUMEN 16 IS A UNIQUE BINARY SYSTEM. IT IS MADE UP OF TWO BROWN DWARFS ORBITING EACH OTHER. LUMEN 16 A AND 16 B.
Ella says, THESE STARS ARE BEAUTIFUL.
Maggie explains, ACTUALLY, BROWN DWARFS ARE NOT STARS OR PLANETS.
Maggie creates a screen in front of Ella that shows a small and medium brown dwarf and a large star.
Maggie explains, THEY ARE TOO COLD TO BE STARS, BUT HOTTER AND BIGGER THAN PLANETS. BROWN DWARFS START OUT LIKE STARS, BUT THEIR FUEL IS DIFFERENT. WHICH MAKES THEM ALL SORTS OF INTERESTING COLORS.
Ella says, HUH?
[Maggie bracelet beeping]
Ella projects her time of 9:04.
Maggie says, I CAN TELL YOU MUCH MORE ABOUT BROWN DWARFS AFTER THE GAME.
[Maggie whirring, beeping]
Ella says, THANKS, MAGGIE.
[Beeping]
Ella picks up the Hide-and-Peek and points it at the solar system. She moves it slowly.
[Beeping]
Ella says, I GOT SOMEONE.
Ella throws the Hide-and-Peek up into the air. It flies forward, and she follows it.
[Whooshing, beeping, tense music plays, beeping speeds up]
Ella says, OKAY. THE QUICK PINGS MEAN SOMEONE IS CLOSE.
Ella uses her moon boots and flies around a small asteroid. There is no one hiding behind it.
[Whooshing]
Ella says, GOTCHA. HMM.
Ella says, SOMEONE HAS TO BE CLOSE.
Ilo floats behind a second asteroid. He holds the Hide-and-Peek.
[Ilo laughing]
Ilo says, YOU CAN'T SEE ME NOW.
Ella says, ILO, CAREFUL, DON'T FLIP...
Ilo flips a switch on the Hide-and-Peek, and it zooms forward, pulling him behind it.
[Clicking, shouting]
Ilo shouts, WHOOOOA! ELLA! HELP!
Ella chases Ilo and grabs him. The Hide-and-Peek flies towards a brown dwarf.
[Exciting music plays]
Ilo says, OH. I'M THE FIRST PERSON YOU FOUND?
Ella says, SURE ARE!
Ilo says, GEM WAS RIGHT.
Ella says, GEM? WAIT. DID YOU BOTH HIDE HERE?
[Rustling]
Ilo glances at the brown dwarf.
Ilo says, UM, NO.
Ella pushes a button on her bracelet, and the Hide-and-Peek returns to her.
[Beeping, gentle music plays]
Ella holds the Hide-and-Peek up and looks through it. She smiles at Ilo.
Ilo flies beside Ella’s moonracer as they follow the Hide-and-Peek.
[Upbeat music plays, whooshign]
Ilo says, I DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE'S HERE. PROBABLY A WASTE OF TIME TO KEEP ON LOOKING.
[Ella giggling]
Ella says, NICE TRY. MAGGIE, WHAT'S THE TIME?
Maggie says, 26 MINUTES. 6 SECONDS.
[Whirring]
Ella says, IF I'M GONNA BEAT SLIPPY'S RECORD I'D BETTER HURRY.
[Beeping]
Ella says, THERE.
Ella lands her moon racer.
Ella says, IT'S SO DARK, I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING.
Ella turns on her flashlight and illuminates Gem.
[Clicking]
Gem says, YOU TOLD HER WHERE I WAS.
Ilo says NO. I SAID YOU WERE NOT HERE.
Gem stomps to Ilo.
[Footsteps thumping]
Gem says, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAY WHEN YOU.....
Ella says, I HEAR WHISPERS. THEY'RE COMING FROM...THAT ORANGE HILL!
Ilo says, MAYBE YOU'RE HEARING THINGS, ELLA.
Gem says, YEAH, I'VE NEVER HEARD OF A WHISPERING HILL. HI HILL, HOW ARE YOU?
[Ella laughing]
Ella says, THAT'S SUCH A MADHU THING TO SAY. WAIT. MADHU? I KNEW IT.
Madhu opens their blue eyes. They stand camouflaged in front of the orange hill.
[Creaking]
Madhu says, I'M REALLY HAPPY YOU FOUND ME, ELLA. GOOD JOB.
Ella floats away from the rock and changes to green.
Ella says, THANKS BUT, WHY WERE YOU ORANGE? WERE YOU NERVOUS?
[Madhu creaking]
Madhu says, AT FIRST, I WAS NERVOUS THAT I PICKED A BAD HIDING SPOT. BUT THEN I WAS NERVOUS THAT YOU WOULD NEVER FIND ME. AND THEN YOU WOULDN'T BREAK SLIPPY’S RECORD. I GUESS I BLENDED INTO THE HILL.
[Madhu creaking]
Gem says, PRETTY GOOD HIDING SPOT.
Maggie says, 33 MINUTES, 48 SECONDS.
[Clicking, whooshing]
Ella runs to her moon scooter.
Ella says, NOW, LET'S FIND A GLITCH AND SLIPPY.
In space, everyone follows Ella and the Hide-and-Peek.
[Upbeat music plays]
Maggie says, 38 MINUTES, 40 SECONDS.
Ella points the Hide-and-Peek at an asteroid. She flies over the asteroid and discovers one of Slippy’s robots dancing.
[Beeping]
Behind Ella, Slippy flies away from a nearby asteroid.
[Whooshing, upbeat music continues]
Ella holds the Hide-and-Peek, and the light flashes.
[Beeping]
Madhu flies through floating debris and finds Glitch strapped to a metal disk. An asteroid floats above Ella, and she points the Hide-and-Peek at it.
[Clanking, beeping speeds up]
Ella and the others land on the asteroid. Behind a rocky outcropping, Slippy holds a hand to his ear and furrows his eyebrows. Ella leaves her moon racer and flies towards Slippy’s hiding spot.
[Rapid beeping]
Ella says GOTCHA!
Slippy flies through a hole in the asteroid and escapes.
[Engine rumbling, beeping slows]
Ella says, OH.
Ella and the others fly away from the asteroid. They hover in space, and Ella lifts the Hide-and-Peek.
[Gentle music plays]
Ella says, WE CAN STILL DO THIS.
Ella frowns at the Hide-and-Peek.
Ella says, EMPTY. BUT I MADE SURE IT WAS FULL BEFORE WE BEGAN. GLITCH. YOU DON'T HAPPEN TO HAVE ANY SPARE FUEL IN YOUR COMPARTMENT, DO YOU?
Glitch shakes his head.
[Beeping]
Gem says, GUESS SLIPPY’S GONNA KEEP HIS RECORD. HE'LL BE SO HAPPY.
Maggie displays 44:03.
[Engines whirring, Maggie whirring]
Slippy watches from behind a nearby asteroid.
[Solemn music plays]
Slippy says, I DON'T WANT TO WIN LIKE THIS. I GOT TO TELL THEM.
Slippy flies towards Ella. A fireball shoots from the dwarf.
Slippy shouts, WHOA! WHOA!
Slippy turns and races away from the fire.
Gem says, WOW. WHAT WAS THAT?
Madhu says, I HOPE THAT'S NOT SLIPPY’S IS HIDING SPOT.
[Glitch whirring]
A comm-bubble appears in front of Ella.
In the bubble, Slippy says, ELLA, HELP. I DON'T KNOW WHERE I AM. I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING. I NEVER SHOULD HAVE…
[Bubble pops]
Ella says, WE NEED TO FIND HIM. QUICK.
[Engine rumbling]
Ilo asks, HOW? THE STAR'S HUGE AND YOUR HIDE-AND-PEEK IS OUT OF FUEL.
Ella shakes the Hide-and-Peek. She sits on top of the moon racer.
Madhu says, WE SHOULD KEEP LOOKING. SLIPPY'S GOT TO BE NEAR THIS STAR. RIGHT?
Maggie says, REMINDER, THIS BROWN DWARF IS NOT A STAR. ALTHOUGH A BROWN DWARF IS SOMETIMES CALLED A FAILED STAR.
Maggie projects an image of the brown dwarf and a star.
[Whirring]
Ilo asks, FAILED? WHY? IS IT BAD AT MATH?
Maggie explains, NO. BROWN DWARFS ARE FAILED STARS, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT GET AS HOT OR BRIGHT AS OTHER STARS. THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE THEY BURN A DIFFERENT FUEL, LITHIUM.
Ella shakes the Hide-and-Peek.
[Beeping, thunking]
Ilo says, SO, THEY DIDN'T FAIL. THEY JUST DO THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY.
Ella says, THAT'S IT. MAYBE WE CAN FIND DIFFERENT FUEL FOR THE HIDE-AND-PEEK. WHAT ABOUT THE FUEL THE BROWN DWARFS USED? COULD THAT WORK, MAGGIE?
Maggie spins happily.
[Whirring]
Maggie says, YES.
Glitch pushes a lever on a motor. Gem holds a hose attached to the motor and floats by one of the brown dwarfs. Madhu gives Ella the Hide-and-Peek power cord, and Ella connects it to the motor.
[Engine rattling, clunking]
The power bar on the Hide-and-Peek fully charges, and Gem and Ilo high-five.
[Beeping]
Ella says, YES! NOW, LET'S SAVE SLIPPY.
Everyone flies above the thick red clouds surrounding one of the brown dwarfs.
[Energetic music plays]
Ella asks, WHY CAN'T THE HIDE-AND-PEEK FIND HIM? SLIPPY. WHERE ARE YOU?
Ilo says, PROBABLY SOMEWHERE IN THESE RED CLOUDS.
Gem shouts, SLIPPY!
Madhu says, HMM. WAS SLIPPY'S COM-BUBBLE RED OR.....
Ilo says, NO, IT WAS KIND OF PINKY PURPLE.
Ella asks, YOU MEAN MAGENTA? LIKE THAT COLOR OVER THERE?
Ella points at the other brown dwarf. Ella points the Hide-and-Peek at the magenta brown dwarf and smiles. Everyone follows the Hide-and-Peek and stops by magenta clouds.
[Beeping]
Ella says, HE'S GOT TO BE HERE. THE HIDE-AND-PEEK IS POINTING INTO THE CLOUDS.
Ilo asks, BUT IF WE GO IN THERE, HOW DO WE GET BACK OUT?
[Engine rumbling]
Ella says, RIGHT. ILO, YOU STAY HERE, OKAY? THEN THE HIDE-AND-PEEK CAN FIND YOU AFTER WE FIND SLIPPY.
[Beeping, whirring]
Ilo says, GREAT IDEA. I'LL BE YOUR ANCHOR.
Ella, Gem, and Madhu follow the Hide-and-Peek into the magenta clouds.
[Tense music plays]
Madhu flies and holds Glitch.
Madhu says, ELLA, MAYBE YOU SHOULD SLOW DOWN.
[Glitch whirring]
Ella says, I CAN'T. WE'VE GOT TO SAVE SLIPPY.
[Beeping]
Slippy’s space racer bumps into the moon scooter.
[Thunking, Slippy grunting]
Ella says, SLIPPY.
[Gentle music plays]
Slippy says, ELLA, BOY, AM I GLAD TO SEE YOU. CAN WE PLEASE GET OUT OF HERE?
Ella catches the Hide-and-Peek.
Ella leads everyone towards Ilo.
[Beeping]
Ella says, THIS WAY.
Later at the clubhouse, Ella says, I STILL DON'T GET HOW THE HIDE-AND-PEEK RAN OUT OF FUEL SO FAST.
[Gentle music plays]
Slippy says, I MAY HAVE TRIED TO MAKE THE GAME A LITTLE MORE EXCITING BY TAKING A LITTLE BIT OF FUEL OUT OF THE HIDE-AND-PEEK.
[Madhu gasping]
Madhu says, OH, YOU STOLE FUEL?
Maggie floats beside Ella and shows the time of 54:09.
[Beeping]
Slippy says, BUT YOU STILL WON. CONGRATS, ELLA.
Ella sits with her arms crossed and narrows her eyes at Slippy.
Slippy says, I'M REALLY SORRY. FROM NOW ON NO MORE CHEATING, I PROMISE.
Ilo suggests, HOW ABOUT A NEW HIDE AND SEEK GAME TO PROVE IT?
Madhu asks, WHERE ARE WE PLAYING THIS TIME? ARE WE GOING TO BREAK ANOTHER RECORD? WHERE WILL I HIDE?
[Creaking]
Gem says, DON'T BE NERVOUS, MADHU. I'LL HELP YOU FIND THE PERFECT HIDING SPOT.
[Everyone laughing]

Ilo uses his rocket boots to fly behind Madhu. By the clubhouse, Slippy watches the others fly away. He looks at Ella’s back and the Hide-and-Peek hovering beside her. Slippy reverses his space racer to the Hide-and-Peek.
[Gentle music plays, whirring]
Slippy stealthily takes a cord from the Hide-and-Peek, and attaches it to his space racer. The power bar on the Hide-and-Peek drops from full to under halfway full.
[Clicking, whirring, Glitch beeping]
Slippy whispers, I'M JUST TAKING A LITTLE BIT OF ROCKET FUEL. I PROMISE IT'LL MAKE THE GAME MORE EXCITING.
[Clicking, Glitch whirring]
Ella counts, TEN, NINE, EIGHT...
[Glitch whirring]
Slippy says, YOU'RE RIGHT. I SHOULD PUT THIS BACK.
Slippy sneaks towards the Hide-and-Peek.
Ella counts, SIX, FIVE, FOUR.
Glitch says, BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
Ella counts, FOUR, THREE....
Slippy looks anxiously between the Hide-and-Seek and his space racer. He grits his teeth and lifts his hand to his mouth.
Ella says, TWO, ONE. READY OR NOT, HERE I COME.
Ella uncovers her eyes and looks around. Slippy and Glitch are gone.
[Upbeat music plays]
Later, Ella arrives at the Lumen 16 Binary solar system. Two brown dwarfs overlap in front of her. Maggie flies beside the moon scooter.
[Whooshing]
Ella says, THIS PLACE LOOKS SO COOL, MAGGIE.
[Maggie whirring]
Maggie says, INDEED, ELLA. LUMEN 16 IS A UNIQUE BINARY SYSTEM. IT IS MADE UP OF TWO BROWN DWARFS ORBITING EACH OTHER. LUMEN 16 A AND 16 B.
Ella says, THESE STARS ARE BEAUTIFUL.
Maggie explains, ACTUALLY, BROWN DWARFS ARE NOT STARS OR PLANETS.
Maggie creates a screen in front of Ella that shows a small and medium brown dwarf and a large star.
Maggie explains, THEY ARE TOO COLD TO BE STARS, BUT HOTTER AND BIGGER THAN PLANETS. BROWN DWARFS START OUT LIKE STARS, BUT THEIR FUEL IS DIFFERENT. WHICH MAKES THEM ALL SORTS OF INTERESTING COLORS.
Ella says, HUH?
[Maggie bracelet beeping]
Ella projects her time of 9:04.
Maggie says, I CAN TELL YOU MUCH MORE ABOUT BROWN DWARFS AFTER THE GAME.
[Maggie whirring, beeping]
Ella says, THANKS, MAGGIE.
[Beeping]
Ella picks up the Hide-and-Peek and points it at the solar system. She moves it slowly.
[Beeping]
Ella says, I GOT SOMEONE.
Ella throws the Hide-and-Peek up into the air. It flies forward, and she follows it.
[Whooshing, beeping, tense music plays, beeping speeds up]
Ella says, OKAY. THE QUICK PINGS MEAN SOMEONE IS CLOSE.
Ella uses her moon boots and flies around a small asteroid. There is no one hiding behind it.
[Whooshing]
Ella says, GOTCHA. HMM.
Ella says, SOMEONE HAS TO BE CLOSE.
Ilo floats behind a second asteroid. He holds the Hide-and-Peek.
[Ilo laughing]
Ilo says, YOU CAN'T SEE ME NOW.
Ella says, ILO, CAREFUL, DON'T FLIP...
Ilo flips a switch on the Hide-and-Peek, and it zooms forward, pulling him behind it.
[Clicking, shouting]
Ilo shouts, WHOOOOA! ELLA! HELP!
Ella chases Ilo and grabs him. The Hide-and-Peek flies towards a brown dwarf.
[Exciting music plays]
Ilo says, OH. I'M THE FIRST PERSON YOU FOUND?
Ella says, SURE ARE!
Ilo says, GEM WAS RIGHT.
Ella says, GEM? WAIT. DID YOU BOTH HIDE HERE?
[Rustling]
Ilo glances at the brown dwarf.
Ilo says, UM, NO.
Ella pushes a button on her bracelet, and the Hide-and-Peek returns to her.
[Beeping, gentle music plays]
Ella holds the Hide-and-Peek up and looks through it. She smiles at Ilo.
Ilo flies beside Ella’s moonracer as they follow the Hide-and-Peek.
[Upbeat music plays, whooshign]
Ilo says, I DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE'S HERE. PROBABLY A WASTE OF TIME TO KEEP ON LOOKING.
[Ella giggling]
Ella says, NICE TRY. MAGGIE, WHAT'S THE TIME?
Maggie says, 26 MINUTES. 6 SECONDS.
[Whirring]
Ella says, IF I'M GONNA BEAT SLIPPY'S RECORD I'D BETTER HURRY.
[Beeping]
Ella says, THERE.
Ella lands her moon racer.
Ella says, IT'S SO DARK, I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING.
Ella turns on her flashlight and illuminates Gem.
[Clicking]
Gem says, YOU TOLD HER WHERE I WAS.
Ilo says NO. I SAID YOU WERE NOT HERE.
Gem stomps to Ilo.
[Footsteps thumping]
Gem says, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAY WHEN YOU.....
Ella says, I HEAR WHISPERS. THEY'RE COMING FROM...THAT ORANGE HILL!
Ilo says, MAYBE YOU'RE HEARING THINGS, ELLA.
Gem says, YEAH, I'VE NEVER HEARD OF A WHISPERING HILL. HI HILL, HOW ARE YOU?
[Ella laughing]
Ella says, THAT'S SUCH A MADHU THING TO SAY. WAIT. MADHU? I KNEW IT.
Madhu opens their blue eyes. They stand camouflaged in front of the orange hill.
[Creaking]
Madhu says, I'M REALLY HAPPY YOU FOUND ME, ELLA. GOOD JOB.
Ella floats away from the rock and changes to green.
Ella says, THANKS BUT, WHY WERE YOU ORANGE? WERE YOU NERVOUS?
[Madhu creaking]
Madhu says, AT FIRST, I WAS NERVOUS THAT I PICKED A BAD HIDING SPOT. BUT THEN I WAS NERVOUS THAT YOU WOULD NEVER FIND ME. AND THEN YOU WOULDN'T BREAK SLIPPY’S RECORD. I GUESS I BLENDED INTO THE HILL.
[Madhu creaking]
Gem says, PRETTY GOOD HIDING SPOT.
Maggie says, 33 MINUTES, 48 SECONDS.
[Clicking, whooshing]
Ella runs to her moon scooter.
Ella says, NOW, LET'S FIND A GLITCH AND SLIPPY.
In space, everyone follows Ella and the Hide-and-Peek.
[Upbeat music plays]
Maggie says, 38 MINUTES, 40 SECONDS.
Ella points the Hide-and-Peek at an asteroid. She flies over the asteroid and discovers one of Slippy’s robots dancing.
[Beeping]
Behind Ella, Slippy flies away from a nearby asteroid.
[Whooshing, upbeat music continues]
Ella holds the Hide-and-Peek, and the light flashes.
[Beeping]
Madhu flies through floating debris and finds Glitch strapped to a metal disk. An asteroid floats above Ella, and she points the Hide-and-Peek at it.
[Clanking, beeping speeds up]
Ella and the others land on the asteroid. Behind a rocky outcropping, Slippy holds a hand to his ear and furrows his eyebrows. Ella leaves her moon racer and flies towards Slippy’s hiding spot.
[Rapid beeping]
Ella says GOTCHA!
Slippy flies through a hole in the asteroid and escapes.
[Engine rumbling, beeping slows]
Ella says, OH.
Ella and the others fly away from the asteroid. They hover in space, and Ella lifts the Hide-and-Peek.
[Gentle music plays]
Ella says, WE CAN STILL DO THIS.
Ella frowns at the Hide-and-Peek.
Ella says, EMPTY. BUT I MADE SURE IT WAS FULL BEFORE WE BEGAN. GLITCH. YOU DON'T HAPPEN TO HAVE ANY SPARE FUEL IN YOUR COMPARTMENT, DO YOU?
Glitch shakes his head.
[Beeping]
Gem says, GUESS SLIPPY’S GONNA KEEP HIS RECORD. HE'LL BE SO HAPPY.
Maggie displays 44:03.
[Engines whirring, Maggie whirring]
Slippy watches from behind a nearby asteroid.
[Solemn music plays]
Slippy says, I DON'T WANT TO WIN LIKE THIS. I GOT TO TELL THEM.
Slippy flies towards Ella. A fireball shoots from the dwarf.
Slippy shouts, WHOA! WHOA!
Slippy turns and races away from the fire.
Gem says, WOW. WHAT WAS THAT?
Madhu says, I HOPE THAT'S NOT SLIPPY’S IS HIDING SPOT.
[Glitch whirring]
A comm-bubble appears in front of Ella.
In the bubble, Slippy says, ELLA, HELP. I DON'T KNOW WHERE I AM. I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING. I NEVER SHOULD HAVE…
[Bubble pops]
Ella says, WE NEED TO FIND HIM. QUICK.
[Engine rumbling]
Ilo asks, HOW? THE STAR'S HUGE AND YOUR HIDE-AND-PEEK IS OUT OF FUEL.
Ella shakes the Hide-and-Peek. She sits on top of the moon racer.
Madhu says, WE SHOULD KEEP LOOKING. SLIPPY'S GOT TO BE NEAR THIS STAR. RIGHT?
Maggie says, REMINDER, THIS BROWN DWARF IS NOT A STAR. ALTHOUGH A BROWN DWARF IS SOMETIMES CALLED A FAILED STAR.
Maggie projects an image of the brown dwarf and a star.
[Whirring]
Ilo asks, FAILED? WHY? IS IT BAD AT MATH?
Maggie explains, NO. BROWN DWARFS ARE FAILED STARS, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT GET AS HOT OR BRIGHT AS OTHER STARS. THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE THEY BURN A DIFFERENT FUEL, LITHIUM.
Ella shakes the Hide-and-Peek.
[Beeping, thunking]
Ilo says, SO, THEY DIDN'T FAIL. THEY JUST DO THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY.
Ella says, THAT'S IT. MAYBE WE CAN FIND DIFFERENT FUEL FOR THE HIDE-AND-PEEK. WHAT ABOUT THE FUEL THE BROWN DWARFS USED? COULD THAT WORK, MAGGIE?
Maggie spins happily.
[Whirring]
Maggie says, YES.
Glitch pushes a lever on a motor. Gem holds a hose attached to the motor and floats by one of the brown dwarfs. Madhu gives Ella the Hide-and-Peek power cord, and Ella connects it to the motor.
[Engine rattling, clunking]
The power bar on the Hide-and-Peek fully charges, and Gem and Ilo high-five.
[Beeping]
Ella says, YES! NOW, LET'S SAVE SLIPPY.
Everyone flies above the thick red clouds surrounding one of the brown dwarfs.
[Energetic music plays]
Ella asks, WHY CAN'T THE HIDE-AND-PEEK FIND HIM? SLIPPY. WHERE ARE YOU?
Ilo says, PROBABLY SOMEWHERE IN THESE RED CLOUDS.
Gem shouts, SLIPPY!
Madhu says, HMM. WAS SLIPPY'S COM-BUBBLE RED OR.....
Ilo says, NO, IT WAS KIND OF PINKY PURPLE.
Ella asks, YOU MEAN MAGENTA? LIKE THAT COLOR OVER THERE?
Ella points at the other brown dwarf. Ella points the Hide-and-Peek at the magenta brown dwarf and smiles. Everyone follows the Hide-and-Peek and stops by magenta clouds.
[Beeping]
Ella says, HE'S GOT TO BE HERE. THE HIDE-AND-PEEK IS POINTING INTO THE CLOUDS.
Ilo asks, BUT IF WE GO IN THERE, HOW DO WE GET BACK OUT?
[Engine rumbling]
Ella says, RIGHT. ILO, YOU STAY HERE, OKAY? THEN THE HIDE-AND-PEEK CAN FIND YOU AFTER WE FIND SLIPPY.
[Beeping, whirring]
Ilo says, GREAT IDEA. I'LL BE YOUR ANCHOR.
Ella, Gem, and Madhu follow the Hide-and-Peek into the magenta clouds.
[Tense music plays]
Madhu flies and holds Glitch.
Madhu says, ELLA, MAYBE YOU SHOULD SLOW DOWN.
[Glitch whirring]
Ella says, I CAN'T. WE'VE GOT TO SAVE SLIPPY.
[Beeping]
Slippy’s space racer bumps into the moon scooter.
[Thunking, Slippy grunting]
Ella says, SLIPPY.
[Gentle music plays]
Slippy says, ELLA, BOY, AM I GLAD TO SEE YOU. CAN WE PLEASE GET OUT OF HERE?
Ella catches the Hide-and-Peek.
Ella leads everyone towards Ilo.
[Beeping]
Ella says, THIS WAY.
Later at the clubhouse, Ella says, I STILL DON'T GET HOW THE HIDE-AND-PEEK RAN OUT OF FUEL SO FAST.
[Gentle music plays]
Slippy says, I MAY HAVE TRIED TO MAKE THE GAME A LITTLE MORE EXCITING BY TAKING A LITTLE BIT OF FUEL OUT OF THE HIDE-AND-PEEK.
[Madhu gasping]
Madhu says, OH, YOU STOLE FUEL?
Maggie floats beside Ella and shows the time of 54:09.
[Beeping]
Slippy says, BUT YOU STILL WON. CONGRATS, ELLA.
Ella sits with her arms crossed and narrows her eyes at Slippy.
Slippy says, I'M REALLY SORRY. FROM NOW ON NO MORE CHEATING, I PROMISE.
Ilo suggests, HOW ABOUT A NEW HIDE AND SEEK GAME TO PROVE IT?
Madhu asks, WHERE ARE WE PLAYING THIS TIME? ARE WE GOING TO BREAK ANOTHER RECORD? WHERE WILL I HIDE?
[Creaking]
Gem says, DON'T BE NERVOUS, MADHU. I'LL HELP YOU FIND THE PERFECT HIDING SPOT.
[Everyone laughing]
[Rock music plays]
The singer sings, COME WITH ME TO THE STARS
THE GALAXY IS OURS!
Children say, LET'S GO!
Singers sing, LOOK AT ALL THE WONDER, INTER-STELLAR.
LOOK UP SO MUCH SPLENDOUR, INTER-STELLAR.
LOOK OUT FOR ADVENTURE. COME EXPLORE THE MILKY WAY!
LOOK UP! INTERSTELLAR ELLA.
