Polkaroo waves as colourful polka dots move around him. Numbers appear on top of polka dots.
Text reads “TVOkids presents Polkaroo Counts!”
[Child laughs]
A boy with curly brown hair sits at a round blue table in a playroom. Behind him, almost all numbers from one to fifteen appear on a board. There is a space between a green twelve and blue fourteen.
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO!
The boy raises his hand and gives Polkaroo a high five.
The boy says, POLKAROO!
A narrator says, HI POLKAROO AND AVERY!
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO!
The narrator says, LET'S COUNT!
Polkaroo skips past the board and stops.
[Needle scratching record]
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO!
Avery asks, WHAT'S WRONG, POLKAROO?
Polkaroo says, POLKAROOOO...
Avery says, OH NO, THE NUMBER
THIRTEEN IS MISSING!
The narrator says, YOU'RE RIGHT!
LET'S GO FIND IT.
HEY WHERE DID
POLKAROO GO?
Avery shades his eyes with his hands.
He asks, IS THAT POLKAROO WAY BACK THERE?
[Harp music plays]
Polka dots pass over Avery. Polkaroo skips in a kitchen.
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO!
The narrator says, THAT IS POLKAROO!
[Upbeat music plays]
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO, POLK- POLKAROO!
The narrator says, LOOKING FOR
THIRTEEN, AND MAYBE A SNACK??
Polkaroo takes a banana out of a bowl.
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO!
The narrator says, THAT'S A BIG BUNCH OF BANANAS!
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO! POLKAROO!
The narrator agrees, GOOD THINKING, WE
CAN COUNT THEM!
Polkaroo dumps the bananas on a kitchen island. As Polkaroo lays the bananas side by side, the narrator counts them. With each number, a chime dings and the number appears beside Polkaroo.
[Chimes ding]
The narrator counts, ONE, TWO, THREE,
FOUR, FIVE, SIX, SEVEN,
EIGHT, NINE, TEN, ELEVEN,
TWELVE, THIRTEEN!
Polkaroo jumps and says, POLKAROO! POLKAROO!
[Upbeat music plays]
The narrator says, WOW THIRTEEN BANANAS!
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO!
[Harp music plays]
Polka dots pass over Polkaroo.
Avery sits at the table with craft sticks set in tally marks. On the table, five green sticks make a five tally mark, five orange sticks make a five tally mark, and three yellow sticks lay beside the orange tally. A chime dings each time Avery counts and the numbers appear in a line above the sticks.
[Chimes ding]
Avery says, THIRTEEN! I'VE GOT THIRTEEN
STICKS RIGHT HERE! LOOK!
ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE,
SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT, NINE, TEN,
ELEVEN, TWELVE, THIRTEEN!
THIRTEEN STICKS!
The narrator says, THAT'S AWESOME AVERY!
Polka dots pass over Avery.
[Harp music plays]
Polkaroo runs past a signpost on a grassy lawn. The sign reads “Yard Sale May thirteen.”
[Upbeat music plays]
Polkaroo says, POLK- POLKAROO... POLKAROO...
The narrator says, A YARD SALE!
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO!
Polkaroo points to pictures on the sign. He points to a picture of a book, a scooter and a football.
The narrator says, WITH BOOKS AND TOYS
AND GAMES!
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO!
The narrator says, WAIT ISN'T THERE
SOMETHING ELSE ON THE SIGN?
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO?!
The narrator asks, WHEN IS IT POLKAROO?
[Slide whistle, trumpet]
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO...
The narrator says, THIRTEEN! IT'S ON MAY
THIRTEENTH!
Polkaroo dances and says, POLKAROO! POLKAROO!
The narrator says, YOU FOUND TWO GREAT
THINGS, POLKAROO —A YARD SALE
AND THIRTEEN!
Polka dots pass over Polkaroo.
[Harp music plays]
Avery holds his chin in his hand as he looks at two blocks. One shows the number twelve, the other shows fourteen. There is a space between them.
He says, HMM... HUH!
[Gasp]
The narrator asks, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO
DO, AVERY?
Avery carries a block labeled “thirteen.” He puts it between the two blocks.
Avery says, THIRTEEN!
TWELVE. THIRTEEN, FOURTEEN!
[Chime]
The narrator says, TERR-IFIC!
[Harp music plays]
Polka dots pass over Avery.
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO!
Avery says, POLKAROO, YOU'RE BACK!
He hugs Polkaroo.
The narrator asks, HOW'D IT GO, POLKAROO?!
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO!
Avery asks, DID YOU FIND
THE NUMBER THIRTEEN?
[Drum roll, trumpet]
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO, POLKAROO, POLKAROO...
The dark yellow number thirteen appears on the board between the green twelve and blue fourteen. Polkaroo and Avery dance.
[Upbeat music plays]
The narrator says, WOW YOU FOUND
THIRTEEN! NOW WE CAN KEEP COUNTING!
Polkaroo says, POLKAROO, POLKAROO, POLKAROO, POLKAROO!
