OUT THERE.
A bird wears a ripped boot on its head.
[Swans chuckle]
Doodle asks, WHERE'S YOURS, ODO?
I BET IT'S SO GOOD.
Odo whispers, I FORGOT TO BRING ANYTHING.
[Gasp]
Doodle exclaims, YOU FORGOT?
The swans ask, HUH?
Odo says, SHH!
NOTHING TO SEE HERE.
EVERYTHING'S FINE.
Doodle asks, ODO, WHAT ARE YOU GOING
TO DO?
Odo says, I'M GONNA GO AND FIND
SOMETHING, SOMETHING REALLY GREAT.
COME WITH ME, DOODLE.
Doodle says, UM...
WE DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME
TO FIND ANYTHING.
Odo says, IT'LL BE EASY.
I'LL FIND SOMETHING AMAZING.
Doodle says, OKAY.
A swan asks suspiciously, WHERE
ARE YOU GOING TO?
Doodle replies, WE'RE DEFINITELY
NOT GOING TO FIND A SHOW AND
TELL FOR ODO.
A swan scoffs, HA! YOU WON'T FIND
ANYTHING IN THERE FOR SHOW AND TELL.
Odo syas, WELL, I'M GONNA FIND
SOMETHING REALLY GREAT.
Two swans say, HUMPH!
Odo says, MMM, THERE'S NOT MUCH HERE
BUT ROCKS AND TWIGS AND LEAVES.
Doodle asks, HOW ABOUT A STICK?
THIS ONE'S A BIT LIKE MINE.
Odo says, THANKS, DOODLE,
BUT I THINK I CAN FIND SOMETHING
MORE INTERESTING THAN A STICK.
A helicopter seed lands on Odo’s beak.
Odo says, OH!
[Gasps, then blows]
The seed whirls away and hits a bushy red tail with a white tip poking out from beneath a shrub.
[Gasp]

[Gasping, tense music plays]

A fox says, I'M TERRIBLY SORRY,
BUT I'M TRYING TO SLEEP.
WOULD YOU PLEASE
STOP PULLING MY TAIL?
[Gasps]
Odo says, OH! HELLO!
Doodle says, DON'T TALK TO
IT, ODO. IT'S A FOX!
Odo says, SORRY. I HAVEN'T
SEEN YOU HERE BEFORE.
[Fox yawns]
The fox says, THAT'S BECAUSE
I'M USUALLY TRYING TO SLEEP
DURING THE DAYTIME, JUST LIKE
ALL THE OTHER FOXES, BUT...
[Chime]
Odo and the fox say,I JUST CAN'T
SLEEP IN THE DAYTIME.
[Calm music plays]
Odo says, YOU TOO?
ALL OF THE OWLS IN THE FOREST
ARE SLEEPING EXCEPT ME.
AND THAT'S WHY I COME TO
THE FOREST CAMP FOR
YOUNG BIRDS.
The fox says, I WISH FOREST CAMP
WAS ALSO FOR YOUNG FOXES.
Doodle says, I DON'T.
The fox says, I'M ODO, AND THIS
IS DOODLE.
[Doodle gasps]
The fox says, WELL, HELLO, ODO AND
DOODLE! I'M REGGIE.
VERY NICE TO MEET YOU.
Odo says, HEY, REGGIE!
I NEED SOMETHING AMAZING
FROM THE FOREST TO SHOW
THE BIRDS BACK AT CAMP.
HAVE YOU SEEN ANYTHING?
Reggie asks, HMM. HOW ABOUT
THE GIDDY TREE?
Odo says, IT'S A BIT TALL.
Reggie suggests, HOW ABOUT SOME
PINE CONES, OR A STICK?
Doodle says, THAT'S WHAT I SAID. EEK!
Odo says, I NEED SOMETHING REALLY SPECIAL.
Reggies says, THE SMELL BY THE SWAMP
IS PRETTY SPECIAL.
Odo says, EWW! OOH! YOU KNOW A LOT
ABOUT THE FOREST, REGGIE.
WOULD YOU BE MY SHOW AND TELL?
Reggie says, HUH?
Reggie looks excited.
Doodle says, ODO! YOU CAN'T
BRING A FOX TO BIRD CAMP.
Odo asks, WHY NOT?
[Tense music plays]
Doodle says, UH, I DON'T MEAN TO
BE RUDE, BUT THEY ALL SAY
THAT FOXES EAT BIRDS.
Odo asks, REGGIE, ARE YOU GOING
TO EAT US?
Reggie says, I DON'T EAT BIRDS!
I'M A VEGETARIAN.
REGGIE THE VEGGIE.
Odo says, SEE? AND HOW MANY BIRDS
WILL HAVE BROUGHT
SOMETHING AS AMAZING
AS A REAL FOX TO SHOW AND TELL?
Doodle says, UH, VERY FEW.
Reggie says, SHOW AND TELL SOUNDS
FUN. COUNT ME IN!
[Whoosh]
Bud holds up a sock puppet and moves his fingers to make it speak.
Bud (as the sock puppet) says, ONE
LAST ONE. WHAT DO YOU CALL
A CRATE OF DUCKS?
A second puppet says, A BOX OF QUACKERS!
[Laughing]
Camp Leader says, THANK YOU TO
THE TOUCANS FOR TELLING US SOME JOKES.
MOST AMUSING. NOW LET'S HEAR
FROM THE LITTLE BIRDS.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO START?
[Grunting, calm music plays]
Doodle drags the stick across a stage.
Doodle says, MY SHOW AND TELL IS
THIS STICK. IT'S A VERY INTERESTING
STICK BECAUSE IT HAS TWELVE
KNOBBLES ON IT. THANK YOU.
[Some clapping]
Camp Leader says, VERY GOOD, DOODLE.
WHO'S NEXT?
Odo says, MY SHOW AND TELL IS
A NEW FRIEND OF MINE,
AND HE IS VERY UNUSUAL.
MEET REGGIE!
[Gasps]
Reggie says, HELLO!
Birds panic. Feathers fly up into the air. Birds look down at Odo and Reggie from the treetops.
Flo says, WAIT A MINUTE, WE CAN'T FLY.
SO HOW'D WE GET UP HERE?
Camp Leader says, ODO, DOODLE,
STEP AWAY FROM THE FOX.
Odo says, REGGIE'S NOT LIKE OTHER
FOXES. HE'S FRIENDLY. AND HE'S VEGETARIAN.
AND HE KNOWS LOADS ABOUT THE FOREST.
[Exclaimations]
Reggie says, I KNOW THE WOODS
LIKE THE BACK OF MY PAW.
DID YOU KNOW THAT IF YOU GO
TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LAKE,
THERE'S THE MOST AMAZING SUNSET?
AND I KNOW WHERE TO FIND
THE MOST DELICIOUS HONEY...
Stars appear.
Reggie continues, AND THAT'S THE GAME
I PLAY IN THE MEADOW BY THE POND.
AND EVERY TIME THE SUN COMES UP,
I TRY AND I TRY, BUT I JUST CAN'T
GET TO SLEEP LIKE ALL THE OTHER
FOXES. THAT'S JUST THE WAY I AM.
Odo says, SO YOU SEE? REGGIE'S
JUST LIKE ME. HE CAN'T SLEEP
DURING THE DAY, EITHER.
Camp Leader says, THANK YOU,
ODO, AND, UH...
Odo says, REGGIE.
Camp Leader says, REGGIE. INDEED.
NOW, ODO, IF YOU WOULDN'T
MIND ASKING REGGIE
TO GO BACK TO WHEREVER
HE CAME FROM.
Odo says, BUT REGGIE COMES
FROM THE SAME PLACE WE ALL DO.
HE COMES FROM THE FOREST.
Camp Leader says, OH! YES, QUITE RIGHT.
