Odo the owl says, HERE I COME!

Odo runs past a blue bird, chickens, a peacock, and yellow birds.

Odo sings, ODO

[Bush rustles]

Animals sing, ODO, ODO, ODO

[Cluck]

Odo jumps into a muddy puddle with two toucans.

[Splash]

Animals sing, ODO, ODO, ODO

Odo winks.

[Chime]

[Camp Leader blows whistle]

Camp Leader and the campers stand in a field with a net on each side.

Camp Leader says, TODAY, CAMPERS,
WE'RE HAVING FOOTBALL TRYOUTS
FOR SYCAMORE FC.

ANNA, COME AND PUT EVERYONE
THROUGH THEIR PACES.

Anna confidently kicks the ball from foot to foot.

[Grunting softly, bouncing ball]

Birds chase the bouncing ball.

[Giggling]

[Grunting, panting]

Odo kicks the ball. It lands beside Doodle. Doodle notices the group of birds stampeding towards the ball.

Doodle says, OOH! AAH!

Doodle kicks the ball to Odo. Odo kicks the ball past three chickens.

[Clucking]

A rooster calls, ODO, KNOCK, KNOCK.

Odo asks, WHO'S THERE?

Flo says, HEH-HEH, TANK.

Odo says, TANK WHO?

The chickens say, YOU'RE WELCOME.

[Chickens laugh]

Odo kicks the ball as he runs towards a net guarded by Leonardo. Odo kicks the ball and Leonardo spreads his peacock tail wide to block the net. The ball bounces off of his tail.

Leonardo asks, WOULD ANYONE LIKE
AN AUTOGRAPH?

Odo says, HMM.

Leonardo closes his tail and looks proudl

Odo runs to the ball and kicks it.

[Panting, grunts, cheering]

The ball hits the back of the net.

Leonardo says, EH.

[Whistle, pattering of feet]

Odo says, THIS IS IT, DOODLE.

Anna says, MY FIRST PICK
FOR THE TEAM IS LEONARDO.

Leonardo says, IT ISN'T A SHOCK
THAT YOU CHOSE THE PEACOCK.

[Doodle and Odo gasp]

Anna says, THEN ROSIE...

[Gasps]

Anna says,...RUBY...

Ruby says, YAY!

Anna says, ...JO, FLO AND SHIRLEY.
AND NO TEAM IS COMPLETE
WITHOUT...RUDI.

Odo begins to step forward, then steps back.

Odo says, HUH?

Anna says, THAT'S ALL.
THANK YOU FOR TRYING OUT.
BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME.

Odo says, WAIT, THE CHICKENS
ARE ON THE TEAM? ALL THEY DID
WAS TELL SILLY JOKES.

YOU HAVEN'T CHOSEN ME
OR ANY OF THE LITTLE BIRDS?
I PROVED I'M A GOOD PLAYER.

Anna says, SORRY, ODO,
THE TEAM HAS BEEN PICKED.
THERE ARE ONLY SO MANY SPACES.

Odo says, HMM. ATTENTION!
I'M STARTING MY OWN TEAM.

ANYONE WHO DIDN'T
GET INTO SYCAMORE FC
IS WELCOME TO JOIN THE
AWESOME ACORNS.

[Chirping, fluttering]

Camp Leader says, I'M AFRAID
THE CAMP CAN ONLY HAVE ONE
FOOTBALL TEAM, ODO.

Odo says, THEN WE'LL HAVE
A MATCH. SYCAMORE FC VERSUS
THE AWESOME ACORNS.

AT LEAST GIVE US A CHANCE
TO PROVE OURSELVES.

Camp Leader says, HMM. ONE MATCH.
AND WHOEVER WINS BECOMES THE
OFFICIAL CAMP TEAM.

Odo says, YES!

[Whistle]

Odo says, WE HAVEN'T GOT LONG
BEFORE THE MATCH, SO REMEMBER,
WE'RE NOT JUST DOING THIS FOR US.
WE'RE DOING IT FOR EVERY
LITTLE BIRD THAT NEVER
GOT PICKED FOR THE TEAM.

NOW, SHOW ME WHAT YOU'RE
MADE OF, AWESOME ACORNS!

[Cheering]

[Upbeat music plays]

Odo kicks the ball as he runs.

Odo says, DOODLE, HUP! TO YOU.

[Thunk]

Doodle says, HUP, OOH!

[Thunk]

[Chirping, screeching]

The ball pins a hummingbird against the back of a net.

Doodle says, GOAL!

Camp Leader says, RIGHT, ODO.
IT'S TIME FOR THE GAME.

Doodle asks, DO YOU THINK
WE CAN BEAT THE BIG BIRDS, ODO?

Odo says ,I KNOW WE CAN.

[Birds chirp, whoosh calm music plays]

Camp Leader asks, HEADS OR TAILS?

Odo says, TAILS.

Camp Leader flips a coin.

She says, HUP, AH!
THE AWESOME ACORNS TO KICK OFF.

Odo says, YES!

Pigeon Post wears a Sycamore FC hat.

He cheers, GO, SYCAMORE FC!

Pigeon Post wears a hat showing an acorn.

He cheers, GO, AWESOME ACORNS!

A toucan says, SO THE AWESOME ACORNS
HAVE WON THE TOSS.

The second toucan says, THAT'S THE ONLY
THING THEY'RE LIKELY TO WIN THIS DAY.

[Both guffaw]

[Whistle, soft grunting]

Two flamingos say, OH!

Odo runs and kicks the ball towards the net.

[Odo pants, canaries whimper]

Odo passes the ball and the canaries scatter.

[Grunt, chirping]

The ball rolls out of bounds.

[Whistle]

Leonardo serves the ball into play with his tail.

[Grunt]

A flamingo slides past Odo and kicks the ball.

The flamingo says, HA!

Doodle chases the second flamingo.

[Panting, grunting]

The flamingo kicks the ball into the goal net.

The second toucan announces, IT'S A FLAMIN-GOAL!

[Toucans laugh]

[Whistle]

Pigeon Post cheers, HURRAY!

Odo says, NEVER MIND, BUZZ,
YOU MANAGED TO GET TO THE BALL.
YOU'RE DOING GREAT. IT'S ONLY ONE
GOAL. WE CAN CATCH UP.

ONE, TWO, THREE...

The small birds cheer, AWESOME ACORNS!

[Flapping, whistle]

Odo kicks the ball in front of him as he runs.

[Panting, grunting]

Doodle kicks the ball over a chicken.

[Cluck]

The first toucan says, WHAT AN
EXCITING MATCH. THIS GAME IS
BIGGER THAN ALL OF US.

The second toucan jokes, AND THE BALL
IS BIGGER THAN ALL OF THEM.

[Toucans laugh]

Odo runs with his eyes narrowed. He kicks the ball. It bounces off of Leonardo’s tail. Leonardo falls forward over the ball.

[Panting, grunting]

Pigeon Post says, OH, NO.

He turns his hat and cheers, HURRAY!

[Leonardo chuckles]

The swans pass the ball between them.

[Humming]

The toucan says, A BRILLIANT
TACKLE FROM YOUNG ODO.

Anna dives to the ground and holds her leg.

[Gasp, groaning]

[Whistle]

Camp Leader holds up a yellow card.

Odo protests, BUT I GOT THE BALL.
SHE SWAN-DIVED.

Camp Leader says, FREE KICK.

The second toucan asks, WHAT IS
THE REF DOING?

Camp Leader glares at the toucans.

The first toucan says, SHE'S DOING
A BRILLIANT JOB.

The second toucan says, YEAH.
I CAN'T FAULT HER.

[Drum roll]

Anna kicks the ball into the goal.

[Grunt, squeak]

[Whistle]

Doodle asks, DO YOU THINK
WE CAN STILL DO THIS?

IT'S TWO-NIL, AND THERE'S
JUST ONE MINUTE LEFT.

Odo says, DON'T GIVE UP.
WE HAVE TO SCORE AT LEAST
ONE GOAL. IT'LL PROVE THAT
LITTLE BIRDS CAN PLAY FOOTBALL.

NOW, I'VE GOT A PLAN.
WHEN WE KICK OFF, THE LAST THING
THEY'LL EXPECT IS FOR US
TO PASS TO THE CANARIES.

The canaries quiver with fear.

[Scared murmuring]

Odo says, WE JUST HAVE TO MAKE SURE
THEY'RE NOT SCARED OF THE BALL.

The canaries notice a happy face drawn on the ball. They bounce it off their heads.

Odo says, THEN WE HAVE TO GET PAST THE CHICKENS.
THERE'S AN EASY WAY TO DO THAT.

Red bird asks, TELL US A JOKE.

The rooster says, AH!
WHY DID THE BANANA
GO TO THE DOCTOR?

BECAUSE IT WASN'T PEELING WELL.

[Laugh]

Odo runs past the chickens as he kicks the ball.

Odo says, DOODLE WILL DISTRACT LEONARDO.

Doodle asks, CAN I HAVE AN AUTOGRAPH?
I'M SUCH A BIG FAN.

Leonardo says, BUT OF COURSE.

[Panting, grunting]

Odo kicks the ball into the goal.

The first toucan exclaims, GOAL!

Pigeon Post cheers, HURRAY!

The first toucan says, THEY SAID
IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN.

The second toucan asks, WHO DID?

The first toucan says, YOU DID.

The second toucan says, I DID? OH, YEAH.

[They laugh]

[Whistle, cheering]

The first toucan says, THEY'VE
LOST TWO-TO-ONE.

BUT YOU CANNOT TAKE THE SMILE
OFF THE AWESOME ACORNS' FACES.

The small birds cheer, WHOO-HOO, WE DID IT!

Anna asks, WHY ARE YOU CELEBRATING?
YOU DO REALIZE YOU LOST?

Odo says, YES. BUT WE SCORED.
SOMETIMES IT ISN'T THE WINNING,
IT'S PROVING YOU CAN DO IT.

NOT JUST TO EVERYBODY ELSE,
BUT TO YOURSELF TOO.

Camp Leader says, THAT WAS A BRILLIANT
GOAL, ODO.

Anna says, AND THERE'S NO REASON WHY
EVERYONE CAN'T PLAY TOGETHER.
WELCOME TO THE TEAM.

[Gasps, laughing, cheering]

[Whoosh, upbeat music plays]

Odo’s mother kicks a soccer ball and bounces it on her head.

She asks, DID YOU MAKE THE FOOTBALL
TEAM, ODO?

Odo says, YES, MOM.
I LEARNED FROM THE BEST.

Odo hugs his mother and father. He winks.

[Upbeat music plays]
