Pup wears a white head kerchief with pink spots and yellow boots. Pup picks radishes out of the garden and puts them in a pink basket. Kit picks a carrot. Pup tugs on another plant and pulls up a big parsnip.
Kit says, HM.
Kit strains to pull up another vegetable.
(Grunting)
Kit pulls up a tiny turnip.
Kit says, HM.
(Pup laughing)

The narrator says, VEGETABLES!
The black-haired child smiles.

Kit and Pup jump in front of blue and purple backgrounds. They begin stretching.

Pup runs off.

A person pulls potatoes out of the ground. Pup pops up to watch.

Broccoli grows on a stalk.

Pup smiles and dances.
Vegetables grow in raised beds outside. Pup stands behind one bed as a person uses a hose to water the plants.
The narrator says, BUT ALL VEGETABLES NEED WATER TO GROW.
(Popping)
The narrator asks, WHAT DID PUP FIND OUT ABOUT VEGETABLES? THEY CAN GROW UNDERGROUND. OR ABOVE GROUND. AND THEY NEED WATER TO GROW.
(Cheering)
Pup and Kit jump up and down.

Kit dashes off.

A grocery worker puts beets in a display. Kit watches.

Kit washes a vegetable under a tap. Kit turns the water off.
(Tap squeaking)
Pup snaps peas and drops them in a blue bowl.
(Snapping)
Kit snaps a celery stalk in half and adds it to the bowl.
(Snapping loudly)
Pup holds a carrot up and snaps it half.
(Snapping loudly)
Kit picks up an eggplant and tries to snap it.
Kit says, HUH?
Kit strains to snap the eggplant.
(Grunting)
Kit gives up.
(Pup giggling)
(Music playing)
Kit and Pup wave pennants.
(Cheering)
The narrator says, LET'S INVESTIGATE!

The narrator asks, HOW MANY POTATOES DO YOU THINK THIS CABBAGE WEIGHS?
The brown-haired child holds up three fingers.
The narrator says, THREE POTATOES? LET'S USE THESE SCALES TO SEE IF THAT'S CORRECT.
Pup and Kit watch as the brown-haired child adds potatoes to a bowl attached to the other scale.
The narrator says, ONE POTATO. TWO POTATOES. THREE POTATOES. NO! THE CABBAGE IS STILL HEAVIER.
Kit looks at the potatoes.
The narrator asks, HOW MANY MORE POTATOES DO WE NEED TO BALANCE THE SCALES?
The child adds more potatoes.
The narrator says, ONE. TWO! HURRAY, THE SCALES HAVE BEEN BALANCED!
The scales are evenly balanced.
(Cheering)
The narrator says, SO, THIS ONE CABBAGE WEIGHS THE SAME AS THESE 5 POTATOES.
(Music playing)

(Cheerful music playing)
Pup sits on a picnic blanket next to a bowl of vegetables. Kit carries a big cabbage over.
(Groaning)
Kit drops the cabbage on the bowl and vegetables fly into the air. Kit grabs two plates and catches the falling vegetables on them.
Pup is covered in cabbage leaves. Pup peels a leaf off. They both laugh.
The narrator says, BYE, KIT! BYE, PUP!
(Music playing)
